Prettiest girl at Hogwarts
Pairings: Remus Lupin x reader (they are already together)
Summary: Remus is answering some of the first years questions and one of them asks who is the prettiest girl at Hogwarts.
Notes: This is my first story, I probably won’t upload again for like along time, I only wrote this because I had this idea in my head. And I really wanted to read it! So I wrote it, and maybe someone else will enjoy it? I’m not experienced in this at all but if you guys like this, maybe I’ll right more? Probably not but anyway… enjoy!
*Also I am okay with my work being published elsewhere AS LONG AS I am credited/mentioned in it, thanks!*
…………………………………………………………………………
Remus Lupin is a prefect, and this year he was going to lead the first years. Once the sorting ceremony was over, he quickly ushered the 11 year olds over towards him.
The first years always had a lot of questions, always spitting them out whenever one occupies there mind. And remus got used to that quickly as he was answering questions the entire walk to the common room. Once they arrived, remus turned around to finish up the talk.
James, Sirius and Peter had already rushed off somewhere, most likely the kitchens, and will probably meet him back at their dorm. It was already late when they walked in but most students haven’t returned to their own dorms yet, spending a little time in the common room before they head to sleep. Y/n was sitting next to Lily, listening as she blabbered on about her holiday to Europe.
“Boys dorms are up the stairs to your left,” Remus gestured with his left arm, “girls, same on your right. Now are there any other questions before I send you all off.”
“What year are you in?” One of the boys asked him, swaying back and forth on the balls of his feet.
Remus gently smiled at the boy, running one hand through his fluffy hair “6th year”.
“Is it true that Sir Nicholas the ghost can take off most of his head?” Asked an excited girl, beaming slightly.
He chuckled slightly, nodding his head. “That is true but it’s not a very pleasant sight.”
“Who’s the prettiest girl at Hogwarts?” Questioned a little, blonde girl as her friend giggles slightly.
Remus shook his head with a little laugh, tilting his head slightly to the side to glance at Y/n.
“You see that girl over there?” He pointed to her and watched as the first years nod excitedly. “I think she’s very beautiful, the prettiest girl at Hogwarts.”
The 11 year olds giggled as they looked at the pretty girl and the two girls who asked the question jumped up and down clapping.
“What’s her name! What’s her name?” They asked as Remus placed both his hands on his hips with a smirk.
“Y/n” he answered.
The two girls were quick to rush over towards Y/n causing Remus’ eyes widen a bit before he just shook his head with a dorky smile.
“Um, excuse me” one of the girls tapped Y/n on the shoulder. She turned around to smile at the young girl. “You’re Y/n right?”
“That’s me.” Y/n smiled, turning her head to glance at Lily. Lily just shrugged and they both retuned their gazes to the two younger ones.
“That boy over there called you pretty!” The young girl with blonde hair giggled, pointing at Remus.
“He said you were the prettiest girl at Hogwarts!” The other one stated.
Y/n smirked, glancing quickly at her boyfriend Remus, watching him just shrug and smile in reply.
“Well that’s very kind of him,” She told the two girls, winking at them.
“Do you think he’s the prettiest boy at Hogwarts?” The blonde asked back quickly.
Y/n could feel her heart flutter slightly, as she nodded her head. “Oh definitely, he’s the prettiest boy I’ve ever seen.”
The girls quickly jumped and waved their goodbye before returning to the group of first years, explaining to them what they just heard. As Remus listened, he couldn’t help but lightly chuckle as his cheeks turned a slight pink colour.
…………………………………………………………………………
“What was all that about?” Y/n smiled as she rested on Remus’ bed, waiting for him to join her.
He just shook his head with a smirk, “they asked me a question and I answered it.”
Y/n blushed as Remus walked over to her, laying down and pulling her into his arms, hugging tightly.
“I love you,” Y/n said, her head dropped on his chest.
“I love you so much more” Remus replied.

King and Queen | S.B
Paring: Sirius Black X Fem!Potter!Reader, James Potter X Fem!Twin!Reader
Summary: James goes through a lot during his time at Hogwarts but his sister is always by his side.
Inspiration: Click
A/N: If this comes off insensitive to anyone please let me know and I will remove this.
James Potter was a handful. From the minute he was born, he had this gleam in his hazel eyes that raged and burned with trouble. His twin, Y/n Potter, was almost the opposite. The soft smile that laid on her features and the glitter of calamity in her eyes. Euphemia and Fleamont were in for a lot the minute their twins were born.
Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder is most comparative to having a web browser up with one too many tabs. James had always been unable to focus and was naturally messy. Truth be told, he thought it was normal, just as everyone else did. It wasn’t until his second year at Hogwarts did he realize something was genuinely wrong with him.
Remus told him that he had this muggle thing called “dyslexia,” which was a difficulty in interpreting words, letters, and other symbols. However, it never affected his overall intelligence because everyone knew that Remus Lupin was indeed and wholly brilliant. It got James wondering, did his inability to focus, be organized, and hyperactivity have a deeper meaning?
His twin - Y/n - was quite the opposite. She made quick friends with Remus, Sirius, and Peter, who were close friends of her twin. Y/n was top of their class, creating a friendly competition with Remus, but she was always able to focus. Often she would hyper-focus, which would leave her working for over five hours at a time without realizing it. In those times, James would have to snap her out of it.
Over the summer, James expressed his concerns to his parents. He was talking about how this could be a real issue he’s facing using Remus’ dyslexia as an example. Eventually, they gave in, letting James go to a muggle doctor. James had to fill out a questionnaire that would come back with his results in one week. That week was probably the longest week of his life. Nonetheless, his test results had come back positive.
Fleamont and Euphemia would be lying if they were surprised. After hearing about the disorder, it was almost the definition of their eldest son. Fortunately for James, the muggles had come up with a cure - no, not a cure - dammit, what was it again?
Impede the symptoms! That’s what those muggle pills do. James was required to take two pills a day, one in the morning and once at night. Y/n was in charge of making sure he did so because - more times than he’d like to admit - he would forget everything if it wasn’t for Y/n.
In third year, James was as energetic as ever while getting on the Hogwarts Express, “Aren’t you excited, Y/n?!”
She chuckled, “Yes, but Merlin, you don’t need to literally jump with joy.”
“But I’m excited!”
“I know that.”
They made their way to the compartment that held Remus, who was reading a book. James sat in front of him while Y/n took her seat beside Remus, “‘Ello Remus.”
“Hey, Potter pair.”
Y/n sighed, and James groaned, “That nickname needs to go away.”
“I quite like it.” Remus stated smugly, “Suits you both.”
“What’s that suppose to mean?” Y/n accused falsely, “It means that wherever one of you are, the other isn’t that far behind.” Remus replied.
James had zoned out already, and Y/n snapped in his face, “Take your pills?”
“Forgot.” James muttered guiltily, “Oh Godric.” She whispered.
“Pills?”
“James went to a muggle doctor this summer.”
Remus quirked an eyebrow, “Did you now?”
“Got diagnosed with ADHD.” James informed, and Remus looked amiss, “Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder.”
“Ah, I’ve heard of that.” Remus said, and James smiled sheepishly, “I feel kinda odd, like out of place.”
“Why?”
“Dunno, just, why can't I be normal?”
“You are normal, James.” Y/n reassured, “And anyone who says differently obviously doesn’t care about you.”
The compartment door slammed open, “Who doesn’t care about who?”
Remus snorted, “Ever the dramatics, huh, mate?”
“‘Course.” Sirius flopped down beside James, “It comes with my charm and devilishly good looks.”
“Ah, yes.” Y/n said, chuckling, “Don’t you see how I’m swooning for you?”
The back of her palm was against her forehead, “Come off it.” James swatted at her and then elbowed Sirius, “Better not make my sister swoon.”
Sirius chuckled and shrugged, “Can’t help it. I’m just that irresistible.”
The four of them laughed at Sirius’ dramatics and continued talking about the new term. Remus and Y/n were talking about books they couldn’t wait to read. Remus was even kind enough to gift her some muggle books he bought over the summer holiday. Sirius and James bickered about what pranks to do this year, along with which ones were better.
Third-year was fun. It was a year of flooding corridors, turning Slytherin robes red and blasting music in the common room after a Gryffindor victory. James was a brilliant Quidditch Chaser, and Y/n was a fantastic Seeker. Nothing was quite like the Potter pair. Something about them was just unforgettable.
Maybe that’s why Sirius was so fond of her. Something about the Potters made people around them smile on the hardest of days. They made sure that every moment was a night to remember. Every memory was worth reliving. So adventurous, so reckless, yet so kind and loving.
By the time fifth year rolled around, Sirius Orion Black had fallen off a cliff into a lake called love. Sirius completely submerged himself in love for Y/n Potter. The younger twin by just 20 minutes, but something about her was so divine. Was it her silk and glittering h/c hair? No - maybe it was her gleaming e/c eyes. Perhaps it was for her strive for adventure and extreme kindness.
Nonetheless, Sirius fell hard.
And who better to tell than James Potter himself?
Causally - as usual - Sirius opened the door to the Marauders dorm. It was empty aside from the brunet boy with glasses on the bridge of his nose. His hazel eyes were focused on a textbook - Potions textbook - maybe it was to impress Lily. Sirius couldn’t care less, so he pulled the chair out in front of the desk and sat before James.
“Mate, I need your help.”
“Running from Filch?”
“No. Something- Something worse.”
“Something worse?” The textbook shut loudly.
Sirius nodded, “Way worse.”
“Alright then, come into my office.” James teased, and Sirius grinned.
It was silent, “I’m in love with your sister.”
James sputtered, “Excuse me?”
“I’m in love with Y/n.”
“No, no.” James waved his hand horizontally, “I heard you.”
“Then what else would you like me to say?” Sirius asked.
“Literally anything else.”
“Sorry, mate.” Sirius muttered, “I- I really didn’t mean to.”
James chuckled and wiped his hand across his face, “I suppose you can’t really stop love, huh?”
“You really can’t.” Sirius agreed, “I tried. I promise I tried.”
“It’s not that big of a deal late.” James assured, and Sirius looked at him with wide eyes, “I trust you just-“
“Just?”
“I’m worried about her.” James completed, “I- I worry about her every night.”
Sirius softened, “It’s like you with Regulus-“ James continued before Sirius could interject, “And don’t pretend. Your silencing charms are bloody terrible.”
“I know you still care for Regulus, you worry about him every night, and I do the same for Y/n, except my silencing charms are better.” James teased sightly, “I trust you, Sirius. You’re the brother I never got but always wanted. You know, the brother I can play Quidditch with, rough around with, the brother who’s just as sneaky and mischievous as I.”
“But Y/n is still my blood. She's my twin, my best friend, my partner in crime. She was the mind behind my pranks before Remus.” James elaborated and then smirked, “Remus and Y/n make a great team, ya’ know?”
“They are quite brilliant.”
“Anyway, what I’m trying to say is, take care of her?” James looked like the eleven-year-old boy again, “Don’t make her a fling and don’t make this temporary.”
“Y/n is a strong woman, and she isn’t for weak men. I’ll be honest,” James chuckled, “She doesn’t need a man. She doesn’t even really need me. I need her more than she needs me. Regardless, take care of her. She deserves a man worthy of her. Someone that’ll get her ice cream at 4 a.m. because she’s craving it. Someone that’ll go on sporadic trips with her. Someone that’ll understand that after a hard day, all she wants is a book and coffee.”
Sirius was appalled; he’d never seen James look so passionate, “Growing up, mum always told me to be a gentleman. I know it may not seem like it sometimes, but she always raised me as one. To hold a door for them, push and push in their chairs for them, give them my jacket even if I’ll freeze.”
“Those kinda things. Dad said I should practice on Y/n, and I did. From then, Y/n always got treated like a queen, and she deserves no less. I won't lie, my parents treat me like a king too, and I don’t want any less either.” James explained, “Be the king that’s worthy of my sister.”
“That’s all I ask of you.”
Sirius nodded, “I’d be honored to serve her as my queen.”
“And if you show her no less, she’ll spit you out like chewing gum.”
He shuttered, “I hate how accurate that phrase is.”
James laughed, “I know her more than you think.”
By sixth year they were dating. Sirius would be lying if he wasn’t eternally shitting himself when Y/n said yes to going to Hogsmeade with him, alone, as a date. In fact, James almost wanted to throw him a party for finally not being a little bitch and asking out his sister. This party consisted of a bottle of firewhiskey and chocolate because that’s all that was in the boy's dormitory. But a party nonetheless.
When Lily rejected James for the last time before graduation, he was utterly heartbroken. He’d spent and dedicated seven years of his life to this gorgeous woman. Despite all his efforts and all his charms, she still wasn’t interested. James tried. He really tried. He wanted Lily so bad. His heart broke when she said her final words of goodbye.
“I’m sorry, Potter. Maybe in another life, just not this one.”
Tears had ebbed at the corner of his eyes as he made his way back into the castle from the Black Lake. In the common room, where he felt like he had just got dowsed in water. James made his way to the girl's dormitory. His hand curled into a fist and knocked lightly on the wooden door. Shuffling was heard from the other side, and the door finally opened, revealing his sister.
Without warning, James crashed into her arms, forcing his nose in the crook of her neck, “Woah.”
“Are you okay, James?”
His body shook with sobs as he shook his head no, “It’s okay. Let’s go lay down, okay?”
Gently she led him to her bed. He curled up beneath the navy blue comforter and placed his head on the silk pillow sheets. If he tried hard enough, he could forget the way Lily’s hair smelt today or the way her green eyes glistened in the sun. Now engulfed in his sister's scent, trying to remove every feeling for Lily possible, he dug his nose deeper into the comforter.
Y/n sat beside him, her back to the headboard, and ran her fingers through James’ already untied hair, “What's got you so worked up?”
“It’s done.”
“What’s done?”
“L- Lily and I.” James choked, “She- She really doesn’t want me.”
A new wave of tears overcame him, and Y/n continued to try and soothe him, “Well, she’s a tosser.”
James narrowed his eyes, “James, you know I love her. She's my best friend, but if she can’t see what’s right in front of her, then she’s an idiot.”
“Can I- Can I stay here tonight?” He asked hesitantly.
“You sure you don’t want me to stay at your dorm?” Y/n questioned, “Because you know who sleeps here.”
“Will you stay with me?”
“Till the end.”
After a couple of minutes, Y/n and James made their way down the steps to the boy's side. They walked up more steps and finally made it to the boy's dormitory. James collapsed on his bed in the left corner of the room, and Sirius perked up at seeing his girlfriend enter the room.
“Whatcha doin’ here, love?”
“Staying with my brother.”
Sirius nodded and stood up to hug her, gently pecking her forehead, “If you guys need anything, let me know, ‘kay?”
“Thanks, Siri.”
Gently Y/n pulled back the maroon curtain and sat down beside him again. James reached for her hand and intertwined their fingers. Something they used to do as kids. When a thunderstorm would go by, James would always seek sanctuary in his sister's comfort.
He fell asleep that night, knowing he was safe, loved, and knew that someone cared about him. Even if Lily didn’t love him, at least someone else did. He had his boys, and he had his sister. Right now, that’s all he needed beside him: Screw Lily and her idiot decision skills. Y/n was right; she was a complete tosser.
When Hogwarts was over, James and Y/n got a flat together. Sirius, Remus, and Peter got one only a floor above. Realistically this wasn’t the plan. James always planned to buy a house with Lily, but he was still healing, and after everything going on, it was vital for him to hold his sister close to him.
Euphemia and Fleamont barely lived to see their children graduate. Not too long afterward had died due to the horrid dragon pocks. It devastated both twins and Sirius. While Sirius wasn’t their true child, he very well could’ve. Euphemia noticed Sirius’s lingering stares on Y/n and the loopy smile that graced his features.
She was the one who got Sirius to man up. She was the one who gave him advice. She was the one who told him what books were her favorite, which chocolate she liked the best, her favorite quills. Euphemia was one of the main components in getting Sirius to date her daughter, and when it finally happened, the parents couldn’t have been happier.
James’ ADHD still remained even in his adulthood, making regular everyday tasks much harder and twice as long. Most of the time, the pills were able to help him complete those tasks. But sometimes, when Y/n wasn’t there to remind him, he would miss his days. When Y/n got home from work, she had barely taken off her shoes to see the apartment spotless.
It was a pleasant surprise, but James was never really one to clean, not that she really minded, but the apartment didn’t have a speck of dust on it. Hesitantly she put her keys on the island along with her bag.
“James!”
“Yes, Y/n?”
He appeared in the kitchen where Y/n was, “Um, did you clean the apartment?”
“Yes, I did!” James nodded enthusiastically.
Y/n sighed and gave her brother a sweet smile, “What did you not do today?”
“So, you know how you told me to go to the pharmacy?”
“Mhm.” Y/n nodded, “Indeed I do.”
“Well, they were out of my meds.” James informed, “I have to wait a week.”
“Oh, Merlin.”
“On the bright side!” James was already causing her a headache, “It’s gonna be a fantastic week! I’ve got so many things planned for us! We’re gonna go-“
James continued to ramble as Y/n grabbed her keys, bag and slipped back on her shoes, “I’m going to Sirius’!”
“Thought you were my sister.” James faked pouting, and Y/n smiled, “I love you, but you’re crazy.”
“I love you too!” He yelled as she closed the door.

Broken promises
A/N: so... this is my first story I'm posting, so please don't be so hard on me hahaha... Constructive criticism is of course welcome! I'm working on a masterlist and other stories, so stay tuned if you'd like. I'm sorry if there are some logic and/or grammar mistakes - as I said, this is my first story. I hope you like it, have fun reading! See you soon :)
Pairing:young!Sirius Black x Reader
Genre:a lot of angst, a bit of fluff
Warnings:angst, family problems, relationship problems, jealousy.
Y/N felt bad. Not the kind of bad that makes you want to throw up, more like your stomach was knotting up and that queasy, uncomfortable feeling was getting bigger.
The common room had long been pitch black and only the fire, which was slowly dying away, gave off a small pleasant glow, but it barely reached the sofa where she was curled up.
He had promised. He had promised to be there and yet she had not seen him since lunch in the Great Hall.
Anger and disappointment kept bubbling up inside her, but she tried to ignore those feelings as worry about him grew and slowly took over.
What if something really happened to him?
Before she could think any more about it, she heard a creak and pulled up. The portrait door swung open and the fat lady could be heard cursing behind Sirius, who came stumbling into the common room, but stopped abruptly when he saw his steady girlfriend on the sofa.
"Y/N?" he asked, startled, looking at her with his eyebrows drawn together.
"Damn it, Sirius, where have you been?" she started, realising that the worry was just giving way to the anger that was rising at the sight of him.
"I was at the lake...well...it was someone's birthday from Hufflepuff and I thought...I could go...what did I do wrong, Love?" he told her hesitantly.
"What did you do wrong, Mister? I don't know, everything I think!" Y/N scolded back, theatrically throwing her hands in the air to express her frustration more.
"You said you were coming, Sirius! Hell, YOU even suggested we meet and still said, you’d had a ,,plan’’…I don't know if that was part of your plan, but if it was, I'm sorry, it's a shitty plan! I thought you would have hurt yourself or made it back to Filch's office."
"Y/N, I'm sorry, okay? I forgot, yeah? What do you want me to do? Invent a time reverser just so our ONE date can still happen?!" sneered Sirius, raising his own voice
"The ONE time?! Sirius I don't know if you've been counting, but this is the fourth time in a row you've forgotten or missed it!" now Y/N shouted too, at which Sirius took a step towards her, but she dodged him right back.
,,I know I'm probably overreacting, but I feel like I'm fighting for our relationship all by myself, Sirius. I'm tired of waiting for you all the time, even though I know you won't come and you probably don't even care. It just hurts, okay?" She had started crying completely now and pulled her jumper closer to her.
"Maybe it has something to do with your family problems," he interrupted angrily and raised his hand, which Y/N only looked at defiantly.
"I am who I am and that is how you should accept me, Y/N! I have apologised, what more can I do?!"
Silence.
Grey, angry eyes met e/c, staring at him with anger and disappointment.
,, "Maybe you should change your priorities if some Hufflepuff chick's party is more important than your own girlfriend, Sirius!"
,, "And maybe you should lower your expectations. You're not the most important person to me damn it!"
Ouch. It felt like Sirius had stuck a knife in your back and was very, very slowly turning it around.
"I didn't mean it, Y/N," Sirius said with a roll of his eyes, avoiding Y/N's hurt gaze and focusing more on her shoes.
,, "Yes you did and you know it very well!"
Sirius groaned and you could literally feel the anger bubbling up inside him again and he had to pull himself together very hard not to yell at her again. In the end, however, his temper won out: "You know what? I'm leaving! I'm tired of this kindergarten and this... this kind of you, Y/N."
"Fine!"
"Great!"
,,Fantastic!" sobbed Y/N, but Sirius barely heard it as he stomped up the stairs to his dorm.
Y/N sat back on the couch, exactly in the place where she had been sitting twenty minutes ago and everything was still "fine".
Had he broken up with her?
She didn't know, but she knew it hurt..., it hurt like hell. There was a hole in her heart and it felt like she was losing her boyfriend, who was moving further and further away from her into the mist, so that all she could see was his outline, not even looking back at her. She wanted to reach out to him, to run after him, but something that must have been her own pride pulled her back and tried to convince her that it wasn't her fault.
But she didn't trust that voice. If only she had stayed calmer... Maybe she could have talked to Sirius calmly about her feelings and thoughts....
——————————————————
"Y/N, wake up!" a voice called at her ear and Y/N slowly opened her eyes. Lily.
,, Lily, please! Let me sleep..." she muttered and turned around to avoid the red-haired witch.
"Forget it! It's Saturday...Hogsmead day," Lily purred excitedly.
"No!"
„Oh come on, Y/NN. We're going to Honeyduks and stock up on chocolate! James, Sirius, Remus and Peter are coming too, it'll be fun!", Lily tried to convince her, but Y/N just shook her head.
"I don't want to see him." "Who?" "Sirius." Lily furrowed her eyebrows questioningly, but quickly understood, "Did you two have a fight?" Y/N merely nodded her head and buried her face in her pillow.
"What was it about?" asked Lily, stroking soothing circles on Y/N's back to get the young witch to speak.
"He missed another date and was at some Hufflepuff party. I was so mad at him...I said things I didn't mean and so did he...His temper won of course...I don't know, it all just escalated. I don't think he wants to see me either." Y/N reported as she sat up and Lily nodded understandingly.
"That's bullshit. He knows he messed up, Y/N. Sirius isn't that stupid... and of course he wants to see you! Besides, it's Saturday, so if you two don't get along, you'll need some frustration food, Y/NN... chocolate! It'll be alright." Lily tried to persuade Y/N and she had to grin.
"Maybe you're right..." said Y/N hesitantly, "Of course I am!" laughed Lily and started to push Y/N into the bathroom.
,"I'm sure he'll be pleased." Repeated Lily, giving her friend a cheery smile.
Once in the Great Hall, the two girls headed for the Gryffendor table where all the Marauders were already seated. Lily gave Y/N's hand an encouraging squeeze before greeting the boys: "Hey!" she called and sat down next to James, who greeted her with a kiss. Y/N stood next to them a little indecisively before squeezing in between Peter and Remus, who greeted her with a quiet,, Hi."
She could literally feel the looks of the others lingering between her and Sirius and lowered her gaze to her plate to avoid the looks from the others and especially Sirius... unsuccessfully. She couldn't help but squint over at the black-haired boy. He had bags under his eyes and was also keeping his eyes on his plate, which was full.
Instead of chatting to the others, she followed James and Lily's relationship banter, which made her wrinkle her nose more than once... Cheesy as hell!
Fortunately, breakfast was over quickly and the group set off for Hogsmead. Sirius and Y/N were mostly quiet and only said something when asked. They all went to Honeyduks together first, where Y/N stocked up on lots of chocolate, at which Sirius just raised his eyebrows, but she avoided his questioning gaze and slipped unobtrusively over to Lily, who was sneaking a caramel into her mouth.
Are you okay?" she asked with her mouth full, eyeing her friend who was standing in front of her a little indecisively.
"He's not even looking at me, Lils... What if he broke up with me yesterday and I haven't even noticed?" whispered Y/N in panic and Lily quickly shook her head.
"He didn't break up with you... Sirius, even though this sounds weird, loves you... Even Peter can see that! Just go up to him and talk to him. But stop blaming yourself: HE messed up and stood you up, not you." She said urgently, piercing Y/N with her green eyes.
„It's okay, Lily," Y/N said, and moved away from her friend, again walking to the biscuit shelf, which was very close to her boyfriend. She looked over at him cautiously and noticed that he was peering over at her too, whereupon she quickly averted her gaze from Sirius again and pretended to analyse the biscuits on the shelf with interest.
After the group had paid for their things, they went into the Three Broomsticks. By the time they entered the pub, it was busy and noisy, making it difficult to find a table to seat them all. After a few minutes, Sirius waved the friends over, who had apparently found room at a table where two Hufflepuff girls were still sitting, giggling as Sirius sat down next to them as he grinned charmingly at them.
A wave of jealousy and frustration erupted in Y/N and she had to pull herself together not to flee the pub immediately. Instead, she bit the inside of her cheek and sat down next to Remus and James, opposite Sirius and Hannah, who probably considered Sirius's forearm her own. She batted her eyelashes and obviously(!) flirted with Sirius, who happily joined in her game.
Y/N quickly looked away, unable to afford to put up with this fuss any longer. Remus unobtrusively squeezed her hand under the table and, Y/N smiled at him gratefully.
Y/N sat awkwardly at the table, not knowing what to do or say next at the sight of her steady boyfriend apparently having already found a new one. Sighing, Y/N stood up and muttered: "I'm going to get us butterbeers, okay?"
Without waiting for the others to reply, she hurried away from the table. She noticed tears forming in her eyes but immediately wiped them away and made her way to the bar where many teenagers were gathered. Desperately, she tried to make her way through the crowd and eventually managed to do so.
She didn't notice someone squeezing up behind her and pushing in next to her until that person snapped at her.
„Y/N?"
Startled, she pulled up to look into the friendly face of Amos Digorry, who was looking down at her.
Oh! Hey, Amos," she greeted her seatmate in Divination and smiled at him.
"Is everything okay with you?" he asked with his eyebrows drawn together and Y/N nodded quickly as she wiped a few remaining tears from her cheeks.
‚,Everything is great, yes," she replied and was glad when Rosmerta put the buttebeer on the counter. Y/N smiled at her in thanks before turning to Amos, "See you around, Amos." She said goodbye and hurried away.
Arriving back at the table, her eyes immediately fell on Sirius and Hannah, who were still talking to each other. Hannah giggled and Sirius seemed to be perfectly comfortable in the company of the beautiful brunette too.
Y/N knew her, she was her seatmate in Potions. As she took a closer look at her, a wave of insecurity gripped her. She had everything one imagines as 'perfect'. She was tall and thin, with a small waist and an elegant posture. She just fitted into the toxic beauty ideals that existed and Y/N hated so much. And the worst part was that there was actually nothing to not like about her. She was sweet and helpful and super nice.
Even though Y/N knew that your weight, your smile, your general appearance, how many friends you have and whether you get good grades doesn't change your worth as a person, she suddenly felt so small and superfluous that she couldn't take it anymore.
She noticed tears welling up in her eyes and stood up abruptly, causing her to bang her knee against the table.
Pained, she screwed up her face and looked at the questioning faces sitting at the table, staring at her. Great... Embarrassed, she brushed a strand of hair that had fallen into her face behind her ear and smiled consumingly, but it looked more like a 'I'm going to cry' smile.
"I- I think I forgot my... uh my- something in Honeyduks, I think... I have- so yeah... I'll go..." she stuttered awkwardly, though she realised all her friends knew she was lying.
She quickly hurried away from the table and Sirius, unable to suppress the tears in her eyes. Hastily she wiped them away, but more kept coming. She didn't notice how Lily called after her in vain and Remus got up from his seat and tried to run after her, but James pushed him back into the chair, looking hauntingly at Sirius who sat frozen. When she got to the crowded alleyway, Y/N just stumbled through the crowd and was glad when she got behind Honeydukes, where there was a path that led to the howling hut. The path was snowed in and would have been beautiful if Y/N had paid more attention. She trudged along the path until she finally arrived at the howling hut. She just stared at it and stopped in front of it. She focused on the small cracks in the wall that looked like small branches of trees moving in the wind.
She heard footsteps coming closer and closer and turned around. Sirius. His black hair was a mess and he hadn't even zipped up his jacket. He was panting and apparently out of breath when he started to speak: "I'm sorry. I'm so incredibly sorry, yeah? You have to believe me when I say I'm sorry... Please Y/N, you have to believe me."
She said nothing and just looked at him urgently until he began to speak again: "Please say something. You can yell at me too, you can yell at me all year and the years after, but please say something." He pleaded, looking at her pleadingly as he wiped his face.
"You don't know anything, Sirius." , she started and he nodded to get her to talk further.
"You don't know how much it hurts to wait for a person that you- that you seem to love. You do know what it's like to not feel loved and- and to feel insecure... you know exactly what that feels like. And I always get so mad at the person who makes you feel that way because they hurt you! And I think I can say that I'm there for you then!" she gulped and Sirius nodded to agree with her, "But you're never there..." she sobbed, letting her tears fall again.
"I know you love me and I can't compare your family to our relationship. I feel good in your presence and- and that's how it should be... - that's how it should be! But- but it always hurts so much when you stand me up or ignore me and I don't even know what I- what I did wrong...I wasn't the one who stood you up, Sirius. It was you...and so many times!" she continued in exasperation and Sirius wasn't sure whether to let her finish or give her a hug. But before he could make a decision for himself, Y/N continued: "And today was even worse! Lily told me all the time that it wasn't my fault and now I know that it wasn't or isn't mine either. But then when you were flirting with Hannah and you-you were having such a good time, I was so sad! Why can you talk to her and have fun but not with me?! Why are you happy to see her but not me?!" asked Y/N desperately and Sirius opened his mouth to stop her from having those thoughts but she continued with a sad look: "You once promised me you would never make me feel small or insecure. You once promised to always be there for me. You once promised me that I was the "only one" and that you loved me. You promised to be there for me so many times, Sirius. But somehow you broke them all and I don't know what to do with these broken promises. I love you and that's not going to change, but I- I just don't know what to do with it when you- you hurt me so much and make me feel so insecure... So actually, you do know what that feels like...just differently." She confessed to him and completely burst into tears.
Sirius, who had tears in his own eyes, looked at her with a pained smile, which made her cry even more. He broke the distance between them and took her in his arms. He pressed her tightly against him and had to bend down to put his face in the crook of her neck. She clung to his shoulders and pressed her face into his chest to breathe in his familiar scent.
They stood like that for a while. Both crying, holding each other as close as possible. After a few minutes, Sirius slowly detached himself so he could look into her eyes.
"You don't know how sorry I am, Y/N. I don't want to hurt you! Merlin, when I think about the fact that I did it, I want to hurt myself. You're- you're- Damn, I'm not good with words!" he laughed and even Y/N had to smile a little.
,,I love you. For everything you do and for everything you say. I love you for who you are and for those little things you do for others. And I will- will never stand you up or break the promises I made to you ever again. I swear I will do my best, Y/N....and I am so grateful that you love me because I never wanted anything else in my life! You don't have to forgive me now...I understand if you don't, honestly." He said softly so she could just hear.
She smiled slightly at him and said laughing: "So if you kiss me now, it'll make things a bit better."
Sirius grinned and closed the distance between them, placing his warm lips on hers. He kissed her softly and lovingly, as if afraid to scare her away, but she didn't go. She deepened their kiss a little and sighed into his mouth.
As they kissed there like that, in front of the howling hut with dried tears on their cheeks, Y/N knew that everything would be allright again....

Remus is the uptight, swotty Prefect who's always getting the popular and beloved troublemakers Black and Potter in detention. Remus doesn't care what people say of him, and he absolutely doesn't care about Black's blinding smile.
A Book By Its Cover
Remus pulls his jumper closer around himself against the draught in the large, empty halls. The corridor is dimly lit and he hears nothing but the sound of his own footsteps. Everything is quiet. Too quite.
A loud clang suddenly sounds from behind one of the tapestries. Remus almost smiles to himself. Bingo. In a swift motion, he pulls away the tapestry.
Startled, Black whirls around. He’s surrounded by what appear to be paint cans and rope. His shock only last a moment, though.
“Lupin!” He exclaims, a beaming smile appearing on his face. “What a pleasant surprise!”
Remus crosses his arms over his chest. He makes an effort to keep a firm expression on his face, to show he’s not affected by Black’s notorious, blinding smile, like everyone else is. “Only pleasant if you like detention. And as for a surprise, I am a Prefect. I am supposed to be here making my rounds. So what are you doing here?”
“Preparing a prank,” Black says simply.
Remus doesn’t know whether he should be insulted Black doesn’t seem to take his authority very seriously, or glad that he doesn’t insult his intelligence by coming up with an excuse.
“Right,” Remus says, before taking out his notebook and pen. “Out of bed after curfew and engaging in illegal activity,” he scribbles down. “And where’s Potter?”
“Aw, am I not enough for you, Lupin?” Black pouts.
“I figured you could use some company in detention,” Remus replies smoothly.
Black clicks his tongue. “So thoughtful.”
“If you’re here setting up some prank, then it’s a given Potter is setting up that prank somewhere else in the school as well. So, where is he?”
Black shakes his head. “For you’re own good, Lupin, you don’t wanna put James in detention right now. People won’t be too pleased with you if the school’s football star misses the upcoming match against Slytherin thanks to you.”
“So thoughtful,” Remus repeats Black’s words, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “But please, don’t concern yourself over me. I’ve never cared what others think of me, and I don’t plan on starting now. And you basically just admitted Potter is currently doing something that would warrant me giving him detention, so you might as well tell me where he is.”
Black sighs. “This is why people call you uptight.”
Remus’ expression hardens. “If people care so much, they should be mad at Potter for risking the football match in the first place by playing some stupid prank.”
Black gasps dramatically and clutches his chest. “Stupid? Our pranks are not stupid! They’re works of art! Jumping out of a cake on miss McGonagall’s birthday? Hilarious! Making a zip line to go from one floor to the other? Brilliant! Filling the gym with stray cats, many of whom were eventually adopted? Genius! People love our pranks. They make people laugh and bring some excitement in their lives. Much needed excitement, because let’s face it, school is boring. Sitting there, listening to old people tell you things you already know.”
“For you maybe,” Remus mutters.
Black scoffs. “Don’t pretend you’re not one of the smartest people in our class, Lupin.”
Remus just glares harder at Black, to show that no, he doesn’t care that Sirius Black, whom people are always falling over themselves for to get even a bit of his attention, has apparently noticed Remus’ academic achievements. No, he doesn’t care at all.
“Even the teachers love our pranks,” Black continues. “They put some life into this place!”
“We’ll see what miss McGonagall has to say about it when I report you tomorrow,” Remus says calmly. “I’ll go finish my rounds, and when I get back, you better have cleaned up this mess.”
As he turns around to leave, Black suddenly grabs his wrist. “Join us!”
“Wha...” Remus turns back, and his traitorous stomach flutters at how close Black is suddenly standing.
“Join us for one prank,” Black says.
Remus blinks at him. “Why in earth would I do that?”
“Because it’s fun! And honestly, Lupin, to me you always look like you can use a bit of fun.”
That catches Remus off guard. It’s true. Between struggling to get top marks, doing everything he can for extra credit, making sure he has a spotless record, excelling at his Prefect duties, and worrying about his sick mother, lately he often feels like just throwing his hands in the air and say ‘screw it all!’, and just do something crazy, something dumb or irresponsible. But he definitely never wanted for Black to notice that.
“Come on, Lupin,” Black says, as Remus stays silent. “Be part of the fun for once, instead of putting a damper on it.”
“Your childish pranks aren’t my idea of fun,” Remus bites back, feeling himself getting defensive.
Black just grins. “You won’t know that unless you join us for just one prank!”
“Why would you even want me to join you?” Many people would be lining up to be a part of one of Black and Potter’s infamous pranks. It’s beyond Remus why Black would ask that one stuffy guy who puts them in detention almost every week.
“Because I like you,” Black shrugs. “I like how hard you work for everything and how you don’t care what anyone thinks of you. And I think you secretly have a talent for it,” he adds with a wink, that absolutely does not make Remus’ knees go weak. “I bet you have a wicked side to you underneath all that swotty stuff.”
“But I’m a Prefect!” Remus argues. “I’m supposed to discipline rule-breakers, not break them myself!”
Black rolls his eyes. “You shouldn’t take that job so serious.”
This rubs Remus the wrong way. “Not everyone can afford to treat everything in life as a joke,” he says coolly.
Black folds his arms over his chest and stares. “A fancy title and a badge and suddenly you’re better than us?”
“It’s nothing like that!”
Black huffs. “Then why is that bogus job so important to you?”
“Because some of us can’t afford to have even one note on their record if they ever want to get anywhere in life!” Remus snaps. “Because some of us need perfect scores and every bit of extra credit they can get if they want universities not to immediately bin their applications! Because some of us don’t have a last name they can flaunt, a daddy who can make a phone call, a mommy who can throw some money around, and suddenly you’re top of the list! Because some of us can’t just look at their rich parents and rely on them to always give them everything they want!”
The change in Black is instant. He takes a step back, and instead of his usual easy smile and bright eyes sparkling with mischief, his face becomes an ice-cold mask. “Fuck you, Lupin,” he hisses. “You don’t know a thing about me.”
He pushes past Remus as he storms off, leaving him behind feeling very confused. Maybe he shouldn’t have said that. Yes, the system is unfair and Black is privileged, but Remus supposes that isn’t really Black’s fault. He knows Black isn’t actually a bad person. His heart is in the right place, and he’s usually kind, only ever mean to people who, quite frankly, deserve it.
Remus just wishes Black would stop with those bloody pranks.
Remus just wishes Black would continue with those bloody pranks.
Or do anything really that makes him seem more like his old self. Remus never thought he’d miss that loud, barking laugh, that infuriating smirk, those lame puns so much.
Ever since everyone returned from Christmas break, Black has completely withdrawn. He hardly talks to anyone, he just sits silently, his eyes staring off in the distance and his expression blank. Potter is always by his side, softly talking to him or just throwing him worried glances.
Since then, it has been the talk of the school, and even in the papers and on the news: Sirius Black has been removed from his parents’ custody. It was a messy affair, the police has even been involved. Black’s father was arrested on grounds of child abuse. Apparently, Orion Black, the noble and well-respected patriarch of the prestigious Black family, has a habit of beating his son. It must’ve been going on for a while, but over the break it escalated. People just can’t get over how Sirius Black’s life wasn’t as perfect as it always seemed to be.
Remus feels bad for Black, and especially feels like an idiot, having said the things he said. He knows he owes Black an apology. It has been a couple of weeks since the break ended, and the apology is beginning to be long overdue. Though he also knows that Black has probably not been waiting for an apology from the uptight twat that always gets him detention.
Maybe it’s more to ease his own consciousness that he hesitantly approaches the table where Black is sitting. Potter glares at him the moment he sees him, and half gets out of his seat, probably to tell him to piss off, and rightfully so. However, after a quick glance at Black’s face, who’s looking up at Remus, he sits back down, as if he sees something on his friend’s face that makes him chance his mind.
“Bla- Sirius,” Remus says, realising a tad late that Sirius might nor want to be reminded of his family name right now. “I’m sorry,” he blurts out. “I said some shitty things to you, and I shouldn’t have. You were right, I didn’t know anything about you.”
“It’s okay,” Sirius says softly. “You had good reason to be angry, it’s a rather fucked up system. And you didn’t know. Didn’t know that I would’ve gladly given up all that privilege to just have parents who... who love me...”
Sirius’ voice falters and he trails off. Potter is staring at him wide-eyed, and also Remus is surprised. He knows Sirius hasn’t talked about it to anyone, and he feels almost guilty he’s saying it to him of all people. He’s also surprised at the overwhelming urge he has to pull Sirius into a hug, hold him and tell him they never deserved him anyway. He has to leave before he does anything stupid.
“I should go,” Remus says quickly. “If there’s ever anything I can do...”
As he turns around to leave, Black suddenly grabs his wrist. “Join us!”
Remus turns back to look at him.
“Join us for one prank.”
“Why would you want me to join you?” Remus asks, much like the first time.
“Because I like you,” Sirius replies, much like the first time, only where he had then sounded nonchalant and slightly amused, he now sounds pleading and vulnerable.
“Yeah,” Remus says hoarsely, because his Prefect duties suddenly don’t seem so important compared to helping Sirius come back to his old self. “Yeah, I’ll join you for one prank.”
And then the most amazing thing happens: for the first time in weeks, Sirius Black smiles. It’s only a small smile, but the room already seems a bit brighter. In a moment of vivid clarity, Remus knows that there’s nothing he wouldn’t do to make that boy smile.

The Short-Lived Happiness of (Y/N) Riddle:
The boys had been debating on new nicknames. They couldn’t call you Princess anymore. They vowed to never do it again, never put you back in that position again. But calling you by just your name was starting to get old to them. They didn’t like any that they were coming up with but also didn’t feel like you would respond to the ones they thought were good.
“Well, I like Sunshine. Goes with her little nails,” Remus said.
“She won’t respond. Probably won’t even know what it’s about,” James said.
“Yes, she will.”
“Okay, Moony, just because she felt comfortable to fall asleep in your bed— once might I add— doesn’t mean that you know her better.”
“Alright,” Remus shrugged as he opened the door to their dorm. “Sunshine!”
“Yes?” you asked, poking your head out from your blanket. You had eaten dinner in their room.
Remus smirked. “I told you she’d respond to it. Is that alright if we call you Sunshine? It feels weird to keep saying your name all the time.”
You nodded. They watched you finish dinner and then leave their dorm. Most would be dejected but that was the longest that you had held conversation with them in a while. So, the boys found themselves satisfied with that.
~~
You seemed like an all new person. The Marauders had begged McGonagall if they could stay over the summer. When she said no, they sat in her office for four days straight until she got Dumbledore who approved them to stay because it would be nice if you had company. Without any other students around, they saw how absolutely carefree you could be. You didn’t know they were there at first.
But by the second week, they had made their presence known. You were hesitant to be yourself after that but eventually your inhibitions melted away. The Marauders smiled as they helped you do your work around the school. The four of them chuckled as they cleaned the Hogwarts’ trophy case while you skated by on a mop that was cleaning the outer corridor, hollering at the top of your lungs. Sirius scratched at his hair that he had put up in a bun.
“We were all awful for ever messing with her, she really is Sunshine, also loud as hell. Moony… Moony?!”
The other boy snapped back to their attention. Sirius eyed him up and down.
“You’re drooling,” he said nonchalantly. “Don’t tell me a certain someone has something to do with that.”
Remus went back to cleaning trophies. The other boys did the same, occasionally cracking a few jokes. Eventually, after you came back around with the mop before disappearing again, he set down his cleaning rag.
“I like (Y/N). Like I want to be with her, I fancy her a whole lot.”
The other boys looked at their friend. It made sense. You and Remus moved a bit different than you and everyone else. With you, Remus was careful but also completely relaxed. However they felt about you paled in comparison to the boy in front of them. Peter nodded.
“Okay. How are you asking her out?”
“What? No, no… I told you guys because I was hoping someone would know how to stop.”
Sirius blinked. “You want to stop liking Sunspot?”
“Sunspot?” James asked.
“I don’t know, if Moony likes her I thought he should get Sunshine for himself. Trying to keep with the sun theme.”
“Hmm, nice. Yeah, Padfoot’s right though. You want to stop liking her?”
“Guys, why would she like me? She has no reason to, not after everything that’s happened. She just now started talking to us and it’s because we’re the only people here.”
They thought Remus was potentially wrong but couldn’t convince him otherwise. Even when you came into the room, none of their facial expressions or gestures seemed to get through to him. You immediately went to sit on a desk next to Sirius, tired from mopping. Subtly, he pushed you towards Remus who gave him a look.
~~
The boys followed you through the castle. They looked at each other when they reached the girls’ lavatory. They knew about this one. No one ever went in because of that one ghost Moaning Myrtle. You stood at the sinks, bouncing on the balls of your feet.
“Sunny? This is a bathroom.”
James had taken to calling you Sunny. They all really ran with the sun theme but picked different names. Peter liked Sunray which was close to Sirius’ Sunspot. But Remus’ Sunshine might have been your favorite. You just turned around and ignored the boys as you faced the sinks. A chill ran down the Marauders’ spines as you started whispering in a language they never heard you speak before. You turned back to face them as the sinks began to separate.
“Sunshine?”
“Welcome to the Chamber of Secrets.”
The four of them looked at each other with wicked smiles before following you in. You held up an arm and if it wasn’t for the giant shed snake skin, Sirius would have laughed at the smallest in their group attempting to protect the rest of them.
“You aren’t allowed to look at them until I say it’s okay. You will not kill them.”
“Yes, Mistress.”
Peter jumped at the large body of a snake slither past. You ushered them forward. The boys watched your hand trail over the snake and they couldn’t decide if it was cool or if they were mortified. Remus went to grab you when you suddenly bent down and looked the creature in the eye. He paused in his tracks when they noticed you were fine.
“Doesn’t a basilisk’s stare kill you instantly?” James whispered.
Remus nodded. Sirius pulled at his jumper.
“What if she did hurt people? Sunspot could’ve killed this entire school if she had wanted to…”
They all just stared as his words sunk in. It was mad how you were giggling at the literal monster in front of you. You stuck out a hand and they watched a clear, thick substance drip into your palm. You came skipping back over.
“We can leave if you want, I just wanted to show you.”
“There’s more to this place?”
You nodded. “But you need protection, the basilisk is going to roam. I said not to kill you but if you accidentally catch her eye, I can’t help that and neither can she.”
They nodded with confused faces. You went to James and dipped your thumb in the clear substance, rubbing it under his eyes and on the bottom of his glasses. Peter and Sirius shuddered under the feel of the substance— it was cooler than they expected. Remus looked down at you.
“Sunshine?”
“Yes?”
“What is this?”
“Venom… we can’t come here after your moon nights. If it seeps into a cut, that could be deadly.”
Sirius cringed. “Did you just wipe snake spit on us?”
“Venom, Sirius. It’s for your own good, basilisks can’t kill each other just by looking one another in the eye. We have tears that keep our eyes wet, they have their venom. It repels the other killing power. And now you have it.”
“Okay, you’re free to roam. No leaving the Chamber.”
The snake slithered off to wherever. You went back to looking at the boys.
“She’s in hibernation usually but any time the Chamber opens, just wakes her right up. I used to hide here a lot but she started going on about killing muggleborns in third year and I thought it was better to not wake her up so much.”
“What the fuck?” Peter voiced what they were all thinking.
“Are we supposed to ignore the speaking parseltongue and looking a murder snake that shouldn’t still be alive if it’s from the founding of our school in the eye and not dying?” James asked.
You rolled your eyes. “How did four idiots create such an intricate map? A basilisk’s master, if it has one, is automatically immune. It’s a process in connecting bloodlines or something. Hi, (Y/N) Riddle, heir of Slytherin, nice to meet you.”
“Hei— he— you’re one of Slytherin’s descendants?”
You nodded and moved to wash your hand off in the water. You started leading them around the place. The boys thought the Chamber was wicked. A bit disgusting in some of the off paths that were mildewy but overall wicked. Without the dangers of the basilisk killing students because it was summer, the five of you went down there often. The boys even stopped jumping whenever the snake passed by.
~~
James took you all out, his treat, to Hogsmeade. The boys were going to Potter Manor soon. They asked you if you wanted to come but you declined. You had grown a bit closer to them but still felt wary. They understood that the entire friendship was conditional. They knew that they had a long way to go before it was a solid friendship. It might never get to that point although they wanted to try and get it there. At some point, you briefly stopped to pet a puppy and when you looked up the boys were far ahead. They stopped when they heard your mumble of complaints that they took too big steps.
“It’s just how we walk, Sunray. Big people, big strides.” Peter shrugged.
“Then get shorter,” you complained to all of them. “Especially Remus.”
Remus just laughed as the four boys slowed down their stride a bit. You caught up, accidentally bumping Remus in the arm. He smiled down at you. You and Remus were ditched in the bookstore with only a call to meet at the pub. You both were in your element. You had taken to getting books for each other to try lately. Either you would read a book and then swap or you would just buy new ones for each other.
Remus kept looking over when he thought you weren’t paying attention. He watched you reach up and struggle to grab a book on the top shelf. He came up behind you to grab the book. One hand rested on your waist so he wouldn’t topple over and the other grabbed the book with no problem. You turned and Remus could hold his breath at the proximity. You seemed even more kissable today as you smiled at him.
“Okay, maybe don’t get shorter.” You took the book from him.
~~
You looked up from your reading to see your boys in front of you. They had been in the kitchens while you were under a tree outside. It was the last day before they left for their second part of vacation. You had finished your first book and started reading the one that Remus picked out for you. The boys shoved the map over your book. You tilted your head.
“Hello?”
“Hi, do the thing and read it,” Sirius said as he pointed to the blank map.
You pulled out your wand. “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.”
You watched the same fancy ink scroll across the parchment.
“Messrs Moony, Wormatil, Padfoot, and Prongs, along with Miss Sun—”
“Sunshine are proud to present the Marauder’s Map,” Sirius finished.
Peter opened it up and lifted a new flap. “Chamber of Secrets was brilliant. It’s actually plottable, Salazar didn’t put any enchantment on it like the Room of Requirement. We’re wondering if there’s more stuff like this. Only to find out is when we get back to school.”
“Guys,” you whispered, trying not to cry.
~~
“Evans, go out with me.”
You all rolled your eyes as you sat under a tree. It was a nice day so the five of you were outside. It was weird. You weren’t best friends but they made you feel less lonely. And you found yourself caring a little bit more about them. The boys had finished the map, finally. There weren’t many more secret rooms after the Chamber but you enjoyed the map nonetheless.
“Alright, James.”
You all did a double take.
“Really?”
“It’s our last year, why not?”
You pushed James to stand up and walk her to her next class. Both you and Sirius caught each other’s eyes and huffed out a laugh. Lily turning down James had become the running joke and she just killed it. The real question was if he could score a second one.
~~
It was a no-brainer that the Marauders would join the Order after graduating. A bunch of Hogwarts students did. Your father had grown considerably stronger and returned to the UK with his following. You were all gathered around a table. Plans to stop Voldemort needed to be concrete. This wasn’t a game of little battles anymore. There were only big battles and trying to end a war. Marlene set her quill down.
“Why aren’t we using (Y/N)?”
Everyone looked at her, including you.
“Your father doesn’t know you’re with us, does he?”
“No, he thinks I’m overseas.”
You were for a brief moment. The Order had been shocked to see you when you had arrived. The Marauders were more shocked. When you left for America, they thought that you were gone for good. You had sworn that you were starting over after Hogwarts— that was made official by the fact that you made yourself untraceable and never left an address. But you heard about Voldemort growing and came back to stop your father.
“And the posse? I guess, they’re actual Death Eaters now.”
“I haven’t ran into a single one,” you said.
Marlene nodded. “Then we should use (Y/N) as a spy. We’d know it all. It might actually let us stop him before everyone around us dies.”
The Order looked at you. You shrugged.
“I’ll try, but he’s never talked to me much about plans. His whole point was to keep me out of war.”
“But you can freely roam around?”
“Of course I can, he sent me a letter yesterday asking if I was doing well. Now that Hogwarts is done, he wants me away and safe until the war ends.”
Moody clapped. “This is brilliant.”
And that’s how you became arguably the most valuable member of the Order of the Phoenix. They made a point to act like they didn’t know you in public. You never went back home right after visiting your father. You went in public with Bellatrix and Regulus until all Death Eaters started becoming more secretive. Nagini followed you like a puppy when your father wasn’t around. He shared intimate details of his plans now that you were no longer a child. He still didn’t want you in the war. He made a point that you were told about missions— that you would then report to the Order if you could— but never allowed to go on them.
Voldemort didn’t want a hair out of place on his heir’s head. He had dropped his marriage list. After the war started becoming serious, you both agreed it was best to wait and see who was still alive after everything was done.
Order missions were organized according to information you gave and which members weren’t in hiding. Groups were arranged to track down people that Voldemort looked for or his forsaken horcruxs that your father told you about and recommended you one day create to protect yourself. He never suspected you once. He didn’t even suspect a spy amongst them. Voldemort was simply angered that he had to stay away for so long because it gave wizards beneath him a chance to improve their magical abilities. He simply complained that he gave them precious time to be great but they would never be as great as him.
~~
Remus came to sit next to you on the couch. It had been three months since you last saw him. James and Lily had announced they had to step back from active Order missions because she was pregnant. That made you more active than ever as a spy. But you finally got a break. You were living with him and Sirius. Apparently, Sirius’ uncle had left him with enough inheritance to buy this place. You didn’t have anywhere else to go or know anyone else so you stayed with them. Remus discovered that his previous crush didn’t end when you left. The two of you grew closer and he found it getting stronger. The Order started discovering more about you that the Marauders had begun to discover back in their seventh year. You were kind. That was the first thing that a lot of them noted, your kindness.
“When do you go back and how long?” Remus asked.
“Lucius and Narcissa are getting married, I’m expected to be there for that. And then my father will probably want me in his sights for a bit. I guess another month. Tell your mum, thank you for the chocolate. It was the only thing getting me through staying with all those Death Eaters.”
Remus chuckled. “I think you like that brand more than I do.”
“It’s delicious.”
~~
It was the last time that any remaining Order members were going to see the Potters for a while. Dumbledore only told a few of you about the prophecy but everyone knew that they were going into hiding. Lily was due any moment, now. Only a few of you would ever know where that hiding place was. It was goodbye and a baby shower all at once. Sirius choked on his drink when Lily and James asked him about being Harry’s godfather.
“I don’t do children, Prongs, we’ve talked about this. Fun Uncle Sirius, that was my only job description. This sounds like responsibility.”
Lily looked at James with an ‘I told you so’ written all over her face. She laughed a bit as she held her stomach.
“I wanted (Y/N) anyway as a responsible godmother.”
You went wide-eyed. “Me?”
“You’re one of the sweetest people we know. The baby could use guidance like that.”
You missed the smirk between James and Lily. “Naturally, we want a godfather too. If Padfoot won’t do it, then Remus? You’ll have to share with (Y/N).”
Sirius caught on. “They already both stay in my house, easiest dual custody.”
“Then it’s settled. (Y/N) is the godmother and Remus is the godfather.”
Sirius nodded his head along with Peter and Marlene. “That sounds much better.”
You were just chuckling at the concept of dual custody between Remus over baby Potter. Technically it was triple custody because the baby was James and Lily’s child. Although, if cute, you couldn’t be expected not to babysit as often as possible.
~~
You held the baby. James and Lily needed sleep so you and Remus came over. Godric’s Hollow was nice. The two of you thought that it would be nice to move there but it was expensive. You had even suggested staying roommates to pay for a single cottage but that still costed more than your budget could afford. Remus had to work jobs beneath him because he was a werewolf and they didn’t exactly pay. You had to be a spy so you couldn’t exactly get a job. Your father didn’t even know where you actually lived, believing the lie you told about performing the Imperius Curse on some muggles to let you stay in their house. He told you he was proud of you for that.
Remus watched you rock Harry in your arms. He had been singing a muggle lullaby for thirty minutes on a loop until the baby had stopped crying. You asked him to teach it to you so you could calm Harry down if he wasn’t there. Remus didn’t mind— he only sung it because ‘You Are My Sunshine’ reminded him of you. They still called you Sunshine. It became your Order nickname. Remus’ soft smile frowned a bit. You really liked the baby. It was a conversation you two had had after Frank and Alice, Molly and Arthur, and James and Lily got pregnant. You said you didn’t want them right now especially during a war and when you had to see your father but you wanted them. That was another reason that he could never tell you that he liked you. You wanted children and he was too afraid to have them.
Remus was afraid of passing on the werewolf part of him. He breached the topic by acting like he was talking about a hypothetical woman in the future. You said that he could always adopt. He asked you if you would ever consider adopting. You told him that you had never thought about it but would consider it. You wanted a child— it didn’t necessarily matter if the baby came from you. Remus still didn’t say anything about fancying you. Instead, he watched you rock the baby in your arms. He could see now how much you enjoyed little Harry. He constantly wondered how he could ever ask you to be with him when he seemed to not be able to give you the world.
~~
You started to pace. Your father should have been back by now or someone from the Order should have contacted you by now. But neither had happened. It was a risk to go but you would lie to your father. You could tell him that you wanted to help him track down the Potters— then you could really make sure he never found out. Of course, you knew where James and Lily now lived. All the Marauders did. The only difference was you told James to make Peter the Secret Keeper.
You were worried that some of the Death Eaters might think that you were affiliated with the Marauders past school, that you still speak to them. If that was true then potentially even your father might turn on you. James didn’t hesitate to agree with you. They picked you because why would Voldemort’s daughter be on their side? But after mentioning the other Death Eaters, James saw the risk.
You both thought not to tell anyone else, not after finding out there was a spy in the Order. You didn’t trust most of the others— you never trusted many people. You guys didn’t know them as well as you knew each other. Peter always had a knack for evading everyone— he had gotten the least detentions out of the four boys in all your years at Hogwarts. He could navigate the muggle world so well that if he needed to hide he could. And who could ever find a rat? For so many reasons, Peter was a better choice than you and less obvious than Sirius, less busy than Remus.
Your feet gave out from under you as you apparated into Godric’s Hollow. The house that you saw just days ago was destroyed. Part of the roof was blocking the door from where it caved in, signs of wand blasts were evident. You ran in, screaming for someone to respond. James lay dead at the foot of the stairs. You backed up when you saw him. If it wasn’t for the sudden crying coming from upstairs, you would’ve left the house. Holding down bile, you stepped over James’ body and took the stairs two at a time. Poor Harry was a mess of tears and when you looked down at what he was staring at, you saw Lily. You raced to scoop up Harry, rocking him to try and provide some comfort.
“It’s okay, Harry, you’re alright. You’re okay, darling.”
You looked in confusion at the wand by Lily. You had seen it enough times to know what your father’s wand looked like. But he left Harry? His whole prophecy was about Harry but he left the baby. You pulled the baby away from your shoulder— there was a scar. He had a new scar on his forehead, looking just like a bolt of lightning. So this was your father’s doing. Something stopped him but you weren’t sure what. You cooed at Harry, transferring him to one arm as you quickly packed a baby bag.
The others were going to be devastated when you told them. You and Remus always joked with the Potters about having joint custody over Harry, or just kidnapping him one day. You didn’t think that you would ever become his guardian. Sirius was going to lose his mind and Peter— you clutched Harry a little tighter as you began to walk to the nearest public Floo Network. No one could tell where the Potters were but him. No one knew but the Marauders about the location and the rest of you couldn’t reveal its location, only go to it. There was a small possibility that Remus or Sirius could have taken Voldemort or a Death Eater to the Potter house but you knew them. Plus, they hadn’t left the house the entire day before your father summoned you.
You ran out the public Floo Network and towards your house. Somewhere along the way, Harry had fallen asleep. Probably before you even got to the nearest Floo by Godric’s Hollow. Sirius and Remus stood up immediately when you came into the dining room where they were waiting until you came home. You shoved the baby bag into Sirius’ arms and the bundle that was Harry into Remus’ arms. They watched your face harden as you pulled out your wand.
“I’ll be back when I get back. Unfinished business.”
That was the last word you spoke to them that night before starting your hunt for Peter. He wouldn’t be far from the crime scene. You knew him. Even as a traitor, he was predictable.
“Pettigrew!” Your voice echoed into the night sky. “Come out here and die like a real man!”
You saw the blur of a man go past and started to run. You needed him to run to the main road, not wanting to let a loose spell into someone’s house. You dodged a spell that he threw behind him. Teeth gritting, you chased him into the main road.
“Stupefy, Avada Kedavra… I’m gonna kill you, Pettigrew!”
Peter stopped and faced you. At least he had enough nerve to duel properly, not that you would go easy. For once, you were going to allow yourself to slip into darkness. Every Dark Art that you learned since four, you’d use it. He was going to suffer for what he did. Peter adjusted the grip on his wand.
“She killed them! She betrayed the Potters!” Peter began to yell.
The spells, running, and shouting had attracted some people to leave their homes and see what was going on. Your eyes widened. A dry laugh rang out. Was he really doing this? You lifted your wand to cast a spell when you were blown back. You coughed as you got up. Looking around, you couldn’t find him. Your eyes focused on the street in front of you that was stained with a lot of red. Your mouth dropped open. He killed people. He killed people to escape. And then you looked closer. There wasn’t a wand in sight, the Potters lived in a place with lots of muggles.
You raced to each of the bodies, trying to see if at least one was breathing. Twelve were completely still. Shaking, you tried to help the injured muggles but couldn’t seem to do much from shock. Your head whipped around as you saw a bright light from the corner of your eyes. Fudge, Barty Crouch Sr., and some Aurors from the Department of Magical Law Enforcement were there. You pointed behind you and babbled out something about people hurt. The Aurors immediately stormed past you to the scene to try and help. You dropped to the street, a mix between laughing and crying escaped your throat. It was your fault. Your fault for trusting a damn traitor. When did Peter even turn against you all? Fudge and Barty looked down at you and then up when an Auror stood right behind you.
“They say there was an explosion. Another man was here. Three muggles said they heard her yell Pettigrew and something else before the blast. Says he said she killed the Potters.”
Your wand was suddenly snatched, making you snap to attention. They checked it as another Auror came up, holding something in her hand.
“Last spell was the killing curse.”
“This is Pettigrew’s finger, all we could find.”
You went to stand up to explain when someone cast a body-binding curse. Your mind immediately went to sixth year when they carried you to the lake. You felt like you couldn’t breathe. It was impossible to even thrash around. All you could see was that wet pier and the lake.
“NO!” You called out hoping that someone would listen. “No! Please! I didn’t kill them! I didn’t!”
They casted a silencing charm. Tears streamed harder as the people around you decided that you were guilty. They ignored your pleas of no. They were creating evidence and you couldn’t seem to convince them otherwise. You heard them say Azkaban.
“There’s twelve counts of murder of muggles, Pettigrew is dead. We can see the killing curse,” Barty told Fudge. “Her maiden name is Riddle. How do we know she wasn’t playing us as a spy the entire time? She disappeared for a while before showing up. We don’t need a trial, she needs Azkaban while we still have her in our clutches.”
Shaking your head, a bunch of Aurors surrounded you. Each grabbed a part of your arm and you tried to thrash harder. You felt the familiar pull and tug of apparating. The place felt void of all happiness. Your clothes were stripped from you and you were given a plain prison gown. The Aurors gave a welcome to Azkaban speech as they took your mugshot, which was echoed in your head by the Dementor’s gravelly inhuman voice.
“Welcome to Azkaban. There is only one rule. Ask. You ask to eat breakfast, ask to go to the bathroom, ask to eat dinner. You want to leave your cell for a shower, ask. You even ask to go to sleep. You don’t get to move unless we say so. We control everything. Ask and no dementors. That’s our deal. You ask and you might not get dementors. So ask for everything, you don’t move until we say yes or no. Do you understand?”
You just blinked, not sure how everything was moving so fast. You shook your head and started to say you were being framed when a cold hand grabbed your throat. You felt freezing as a dementor stared down at you. Scared turned to sadness as the dementor sucked out the feelings from you holding baby Harry. You were dropped back to the floor.
“Let’s try again. Do you understand?”
“Yes,” you whispered.
The Aurors nodded and left. The dementor’s cold hand returned as you were guided past shared cells and taken to solitary all the way to the corner of the prison. Azkaban was cold. There wasn’t a single blanket or a bed. Everything was just cold— colder than the Black Lake had ever been.
The Order was called to the Ministry headquarters the next day after the scene at Godric’s Hollow had been cleaned and the muggles had been taken care of. Remus had to hand Harry to Hagrid because he and Sirius were too busy pacing the length of the room. He wouldn’t sit down until Barty brought out your wand and Peter’s finger. Both men plopped into their chairs. Remus fiddled with his hands. This wasn’t you. It had to be because of what they showed him. It had to be because of whatever the Ministry’s jury decided yesterday after the scene. But it couldn’t have been you, not the ray of light that he knew you to be.
“You do understand,” Fudge said. “That we can’t allow you to take care of Harry, Mr. Lupin.”
“What?”
“You are effectively attached to (Y/N). Staying in the same house, both being named godparents. It would be recklessly irresponsible. We’re sorry. We understand that you are more than likely innocent, we’ve reviewed everything but it is still irresponsible.”
“Where will he go? Harry is my godson!”
Dumbledore put a hand on his shoulder. “Lily has family. The boy will be taken care of, it is probably best.”
“How?”
“He might be normal. Not a soul in the world won’t know his name, let him have a chance at life… may the Order have a moment, Cornelius?”
Fudge and non-Order members left the room. Dumbledore silenced the room.
“We can assume that if Riddle gave her father the Potter’s origins, she only told us what he wanted us to know. The horcruxs, there are probably more. He will probably return. Harry will at least be safe away from the wizarding world where no one knows him.”
Remus and Sirius reluctantly let Hagrid take Harry away. Their house was silent when they got back. You weren’t there. You were in Azkaban after killing their best friends.
“She had dropped off the baby,” Sirius muttered. “It doesn’t make sense?”
“She always liked Harry, maybe she bargained for his life?”
“She killed Peter… and twelve muggles.” Sirius sat on the couch.
“No. That’s not her.”
“Ministry says it is, evidence says so, too. She probably said something at trial. I don’t want to think about it anymore… goodnight, Moony.”
Sirius pulled himself off of the couch with little life to him and went to his room.
~~
Harry recognized the letters on the trunk of the sleeping figure. But what was his Uncle Remus doing at Hogwarts? He never said in any letters that he would be coming. He and Uncle Sirius never mentioned much actually about the wizarding world before he started coming to Hogwarts. They just asked how he was and apologized for not being able to take care of him but trusted the Dursleys were doing a good job. For the longest, Harry thought that they weren’t living in the UK. He finally got the truth about wizards when Hagrid showed up to take him to Hogwarts.
~~
Lupin gave his godson a smirk as he took the map from Snape. Just like James. Harry followed him to his office, knowing that he wasn’t getting in any trouble. Remus gave him back the map and went to pull a piece of chocolate from his desk.
“Uncle Remus?”
“Yes, Harry?”
“I saw a name on the map but there was no one there. Even when it said I was standing right in front of them. I thought the map doesn’t lie.”
“It doesn’t.”
“But then why couldn’t I see the person? It showed Peter Pettigrew but I just ran into Professor Snape.”
Remus halted. “Who?”
“Peter Pettigrew?”
“Harry, give me the map. Go to bed before someone else bust you for being past curfew.”
Harry nodded and left without another word, eating on his piece of chocolate. Remus opened the entire map until his eyes found the two words he was looking for. Peter Pettigrew. The name of a dead man. The name of a man that (Y/N) Riddle was responsible for killing yet seemed to be very much alive.

Chlorine
A fluffy little one-shot for @efkgirldetective's summer of jily week two prompt: swimming with friends // Today we're younger than we're ever gonna be <3
“What in Merlin’s name is that smell?” gagged Sirius, bringing his towel up to cover his nose.
Mary swotted him with a bright green foam noodle. “That’s just the chlorine, you knob. It’s a chemical Muggles use to keep the water clean.”
“The water’s not clean?” squeaked Peter, his beady eyes widening.
“Take a look around Pettigrew,” laughed Mary, gesturing wildly. “There are about a trillion little kids running around with saggy trunks and juice-stained mouths, it’s not exactly the Prefect’s bathroom here.”
The group of teenagers took a moment to survey their surroundings. Sirius was right, the thick summer air reeked of chlorine wafting from unnaturally electric blue swimming pools, packed with screaming children, brightly colored floaties, and haggard parents. Behind the main pool, reaching up to the sky, stood two impressive slides, winding and bending in every direction before opening up into a smaller basin. Once every minute, the slide discarded a new, squealing child into the water with an eruptive splash.
Lily eyed the Muggle kids with some trepidation. “Are we too old to be here?” she asked, eyes shifting as she clutched her copy of Herbology for Potioneers a little closer to her chest. “It feels like everyone else is about a decade younger than us.”
“Don’t worry too much about that, Evans,” said James, a bright smile aimed in her direction. “Today we’re younger than we’re ever going to be, anyway!” He nudged her affectionately, resulting in a rosy hue that spread across her cheeks as their bare shoulders made contact.
“Alright,” announced Remus after barely dodging a rogue beach ball, “let’s find a place to put our towels before these buggers realize we’re easy targets.”
They managed to snag a row of plastic lounge chairs beside the wave pool to dump their belongings on before Sirius set his sights on the towering waterslides across the park.
“You said these slides were crazy fast, right MacDonald?” Sirius asked, a dangerous gleam in his eye.
“They’re the fastest in Britain,” grinned Mary, tossing her sunnies aside. “And you get some serious air on your way out, it’s the closest thing Muggles have to flying, I’d argue.”
Lily tensed and quickly diverted her attention to her book, though her eyes remained still as she stared at the pages. Almost no one noticed her sudden discomfort.
“That’s bloody brilliant,” grinned Sirius. “Last one to the top has to buy us a round of those mushie drinks.”
“They’re called slushies, Padfoot.”
“Call them whatever you want, Moony, but I want a blue one.” Sirius discarded his t-shirt onto a chair and kicked off his sandals in preperation. “Prongs, do you think we could convince the lifeguards to let us go down the slides together?”
But James wasn’t paying attention to Sirius. “Nah, go ahead without me,” he said, eyes trained on Lily as she continued intently staring at her book. “I think I’m gonna start out a little slower with the lazy river. Evans, care to keep me company?”
Lily’s eyes snapped up to see Sirius’ dropped jaw, Mary’s raised eyebrows, and James’ steady smile.
“Oh,” she said, her voice finding a higher octave than usual, “sure, I could join you.”
“Fine,” grumbled Sirius, pulling the others along with him, “but I’m coming to find you at that dopey river after our first round on the slides. I won’t let you be boring all day, Prongs.”
James shrugged, barely paying the others any mind as he extended a hand to Lily. She watched their friends saunter off before accepting his help to stand up.
“Hold on there, Evans,” said James, plucking her book from her hands and tossing it back onto their pile of towels, “I can’t have you doing homework; today is all about having fun!”
“Then why aren’t you going with the others to the slides?”
He paused, considering her question with a smile. “Because you’re way more fun than a couple of waterslides.”
Before she had a chance to respond, James pulled her away from the chairs and towards the center of the park, their bare feet slapping against sizzling cement as they navigated around young children and indifferent lifeguards.
The lazy river lived directly across from the concession stand, perfectly situated for parents who wanted to keep an eye on their floating kids while they enjoyed a cool beer and a basket of hot chips. The river wound itself around an impressive structure resembling a fairytale castle, complete with canons that sprayed water onto passerbys and waterfalls that poured over plastered mountainsides and into its surrounding moat.
At the water’s edge sat a pile of tubes, growing hot under the unrelenting midday sun. James released Lily’s hand to secure them two floats, missing her subtle disappointed huff at the loss of his grip when he turned his back on her. But by the time he handed over her tube, she’d managed to rearrange her face into a neutral smile.
“After you, Evans,” he said with a little bow, extending an arm towards the gently rolling river.
She rolled her eyes at the exaggerated chivalry, but stepped forward nonetheless, carefully placing her tube in the water and lowering herself into the center. The water, cool and refreshing, lapped against her backside and kissed her heels as she hung her legs over the tempered rubber.
James took a different approach, choosing to throw his own tube unceremoniously into the water before giving himself a running start to cannonball onto it. Lily screeched as he nearly jumped directly on top of her.
“You prat!” she laughed, splashing water on his face, covering his glasses in little droplets.
“You know you love me,” he teased, a glint in his eye.
The pink glow that spread across her cheeks could have passed as a light sunburn, but the way James’ eyes flashed suggested he’d picked up on the truth. His dimples appeared despite the attempt to keep his grin at bay.
“So, Potter,” she started, choosing to change the subject, “what drew you to the lazy river, other than the obvious similarities you share?”
James drove an imaginary dagger into his chest. “You wound me, Evans! But if you must know, I thought it’d be the perfect place to chat with you.”
If the river’s current hadn’t continued pulling them along, Lily might have thought time had stood still. “To chat?”
“Yeah,” he responded as though it were obvious, “the playground would be too noisy with all the kids running around, it seems like we would’ve spent more time underwater than above it at the wave pool, and the hot tubs are simply not weather appropriate.”
“With me?”
It was finally James’ turn to look surprised. “Of course! I’ve spent my whole summer mucking about with the boys, but I’ve hardly seen you since Peter’s party and I missed talking with you.”
Lily tried passing off her pleased burst of laughter as a scoff. “I always forget how forthright you are.”
“I’m an open book,” he replied, sticking her with a pointed stare she couldn’t see as she averted her own gaze, attempting to hide her growing blush he had already clocked.
“I wish I could be more like that,” she spoke to the distance, to the cloudless expanse of sky, hoping it would relay the message to the boy whose intertube continued bouncing rhythmically against her own as they traveled in endless circles.
“As a kid,” she continued, “I loved playgrounds. Gravity melted away when I sailed off swings and soared through slides, when my magic took over before I even knew what I was. But the uncontrollable flying always scared my parents, so when my family visited parks, I’d be kept on the sidelines, hidden away to avoid causing a scene. I guess I got pretty good at hiding.”
“Do you want help practicing?”
Lily jerked her attention back to James and his easy eyes, his ruffled hair. “What?”
“Do you want help practicing being an open book?” he repeated simply. “I happen to be an expert and I’d be happy to lend my talents.”
His cheeky grin earned him a light splashing and an only-slightly-exasperated huff. “You know what, fine. Teach me your ways, Potter.”
“Alright,” he said, eyes brightening as he adjusted his position on his tube to face her more fully, “we’ll start with easy questions and then get gradually harder from there. The only rule is that you have to answer honestly.”
Lily sunk slightly into the hole of her intertube, but nodded, resting her chin on her folded arms, fingers mindlessly dipping in and out of the passing water below.
“First off, who is your best friend?”
“That’s your easy question?” Lily guffawed.
“What?” asked James, watching her curiously. “I already know the basics. Your favourite colour is forest green, you like chocolate biscuits best, and your sister is a piece of work. Now, who is your best friend?”
“Mary, I guess?” said Lily, brows furrowed slightly. “We immediately clicked since we first met, what with us both being Muggleborn, and after Sev was out of the picture…”
“I’m familiar with this part,” James grimaced, his focus shifting to his fingernails. “So, next question. If you had to be sorted into a different house, which one would you choose?”
“Hufflepuff,” she responded without blinking. “Closest to the kitchens, obviously. Next question.”
“Respectable,” he chuckled. “How about… do you prefer Butterbeer or Firewhiskey?”
She paused, catching his eye for longer than she’d planned. “You probably already know the answer.”
The corner of his mouth twitched upwards with a jolt of hope. “Butterbeer spiked with Firewhiskey?”
“Butterbeer spiked with Firewhiskey.”
James leaned forward slightly, his arm extending absentmindedly to reach for the cloth handles on Lily’s tube to pull her closer. “Like the ones we made at Peter’s birthday party last month?”
Their hands mingled together in the water between their tubes, pruned fingers brushing against each other as the current pushed them together. “Exactly like the ones from Peter’s birthday.”
He was near enough to count every sunkissed freckle spattered across her nose. She could practically fall into his growing dimples.
“Oi, Prongs!” came the disappointing voice of Sirius Black from the concession stand’s picnic tables. “You can’t hide from us all day, mate!”
“Maybe not,” James called back, a lopsided smirk sliding across his face, “but I can try!”
Before Sirius had a chance to respond, James sunk through the center of his intertube and disappeared under the water’s surface. Lily peered into the river, wondering if he could have possibly brought his Invisibility Cloak with him to the park, but her thoughts were quickly interrupted when a hand grabbed her ankle under the water. It tugged lightly, willing her out of her tube and into the depths of the lazy river.
Once fully submerged in the water, Lily squinted her eyes open to see her new surroundings, blue like the sky with ripples of sunlight refracting through the flowing stream, circular shadows overhead from the tubes they left on the surface, roaming away like drifting clouds searching for different horizons. A hand found her arm and spun her around, bringing her face to face with James, his glasses attempting an escape into the river’s flow, tiny air bubbles escaping through his nose and growing smile.
He pulled her across the width of the river, through a shower of bubbles from the underside of a waterfall, and into still water again before finally leading them both to the surface. They broke back into the world with gasping breaths and laughter, finding themselves in a dark, quiet alcove behind one of the castle’s waterfall features. The lazy river continued on as they stood together in their hidden cave, separated only by a wall of tumbling water. Despite no longer being pulled by the river’s current, the two found themselves drifting closer and closer to one another.
“Do you have any more questions?” asked Lily, her whisper echoing around and joining in with the soft roar of the waterfall.
James tried to control the beating of his heart, which must have been reverberating all around their little retreat based on how loudly he heard it pounding in his ears.
He cleared his throat. “Did you want me to kiss you that night at Peter’s party?”
She inhaled sharply. “Yes. Next question.”
“Do you want me to kiss you now?”
“Yes.”
She barely got the word out before James’ lips found hers, crashing down like a wave against the shore, pulling them into a riptide of racing hearts, fluttering eyelashes, and sighing breaths. They kissed and kissed and kissed until their heads spun, either drunk off the thrill of new beginnings or thoughts of Firewhiskey-spiked Butterbeer. Or possibly it was the intoxicating combination of magic mixed with chlorine.

A Tiny Human Being
Summary:- Due to work and other things, Sirius' and Remus' daughter wasn't getting enough attention, this is a movement they spent together.
Warnings:- None, though if anything please inform me.
A/N:- a short thing about wolfstar with a daughter because I haven't been active. This is pure fluff.
Getting out of Hogwarts and joining the Order of Phoenix was something Remus and Sirius regretted now that they had a small human being, their daughter. Of course muggles would be suprised how two men had a biological daughter, but magic makes anything happen.
They were continuously going here and there with missions, and had to leave her with their other friends, whoever was free, to take care of her.
Finally done with the day's work both of them apparted to the Potters' to pick you up. Sirius' arm made its way around Remus' waist after Remus' knocked the door. Hearing the rustling from behind the door, both of them smiled, knowing that it was probably James on his own with two kids, as Lily had a night shift at St.Mungos.
When the door opened a very dishevelled looking James Potter stared back at them. They didn't want to laugh at him but a chukle tumbled pass their lips before they could stop it, and when they saw his glare, they laughed out loud.
"Ha, Ha, Ha, very funny."
Both the men just grinned back at his sarcastic remark and moved inside, with him, James following them behind.
"So, what's with the look?" Sirius asked trying his best to hide his smirk but failing anyways.
James rolled his eyes and said,
"Harry is being fussy. I reckon he needs to get outside and have some fresh air, but I couldn't do that with both of them. Also, for the fact, that Lily banned me from taking out any of them out, she said and I quote, 'you will make them bratty and snobby,' after the first time I took them out and gave them anything they showed even a mild interest in."
Remus laughed and said, "Well, she isn't wrong though."
"Bet my daughter—"
"Our." Remus corrects
Sirius rolled his eyes and said,
"Yes, our daughter didn't make any fuss. She just too sweet for that, too adorable to cause any ruckus. She must have been very good."
Remus smiled fondly at the proud smile on Sirius' face, as he talked about their precious small human being.
James frowned then slowly said,
"Actually, today was pretty bad with Moonfoot..."
All of them stopped outside the room in which the children were, Remus and Sirius turned towards their best mate, now frowning.
"What happend today?" Remus asked.
"She was crying all the day, I think she misses you both, after all, you all spend so much time less together, she kept crying, I tried really hard but she won't stop and in the end she tired herself from crying and fell asleep."
Sirius looked down in shame and so did Remus. Their daughter missed them.
Remus took one of Sirius' hand and interlaced fingers with him.
"I think we need a day off with our daughter."
Sirius nodded and smiled at his husband.
"Okay."
James clapped his hands and said,
"So let's go and see the children!"
He opened the door and they were greeted by the sight of a babbling baby Harry in crib where along with him laid a small girl with chestnut hair and rose tinted cheeks. A small nose making her big round cheeks look more adorable.
"Aw, my moonfoot looks so cute while sleeping." Sirius said, wiping a fake tear and pressing his other hand on his chest.
Remus pursued his lips, annoyed at his husband and said,
"Your heart is on the other side Padfoot, and call her one more time yours, I'll give you divorce."
They were broke from the trance when they heard a small giggle from the other side of the room.
The moment was adorable enough that even the most evil person would take a moment to pinch their cheeks and coo at them.
Harry was now in a sitting position and making funny noises which made several giggles tumble through the lips of, now awake, Selena Lupin-Black.
Her big silver-grey eyes shining with pure joy and her giggles a pure harmony.
She didn't notice her fathers standing there with the softest expression on their faces and pure happiness in their eyes but James did.
"Padfoot, I think we are going to be future in-laws." James joked but his smile faded when he saw the sour expression on Sirius' face.
"Keep bambi away from my daughter, will you? I don't want any guy around my innocent daughter."
He moved towards the crib and scooped Selena in his arms, which made her giggle harder, causing a happy expression to form on Sirius' face. Her small hands and tiny arms made frantic gestures while she babbled, some what angrily to her father.
"Looks like she's complaining about the lack of attention she gets from you." Remus joked and made his way towards his husband, followed by James, who took a pissy looking Harry in his arms.
Then Selena did something that almost bought tears of happiness in every adult's eyes. She moved her tiny arms around Sirius and tried to bring herself closure to his face. When she was close enough, she wrapped or tried to wrap her small arms around his neck. Bringing her face closure to his she let her small, round, rosy cheek rest against Sirius', as if trying to hug him.
Maybe it was a small gesture from her but it bought Sirius nearly to tears. He hugged her tighter which made her giggle, getting lost in his father's arms.
"You are the most precious baby my little moon." He whispered to her ear, though she didn't understood it, she just laughed with her arms still around him.
Remus was the most happiest, seeing the pure form of innocent love, he fell in love with his daughter a little bit more, as if she haven't had him wrapped around his tiny fingers since the day she was born.
"Alright, it's my chance for a hug now." Remus announced before taking Selena in his arms, who happily obliged unlike her Dada.
Remus pressed first many small kisses around her face, making her giggle and then place a smothering kiss on her chubby cheeks.
"Did you miss us, love?"
Remus asked cooing at her and kissing her one more time at her cheeks. Though she didn't understand what he meant, she started happily jumping and frantically waving her arms in the air.
"Alright, I get it you are excited."
A small yawn passed her lips, which made everyone chuckle. Harry had already slept in his father's arm, in between the time, his godparents showered love on their daughter. James had put him on his bed and left the couple to have some alone time with their daughter.
"You just got up from a nap, and you are tired."
"You are saying like you aren't always tired, Moony." Sirius grinned cheekily at his husband to which in response he just rolled his eyes.
"Padfoot, I think we need to spend some more time with her, she needs it. And also because she's adorable."
Sirius smiled, happy for everything he had now. A husband, a beautiful daughter, his brother and his best mates. Everything was perfect.
It has became one of the best days of their lives, just because of a tiny human being.

What to Do?: Chapter 4
One, Two, Three, Five, Six, Seven, Eight, Nine, Ten
Summary: Logan realizing that his first mistake was seeing the other sides as anything other than coworkers. They weren't a family. They didn't even like each other. How had he not realized sooner?
Warnings: General Angst
Word Count: 2,411
Janus raised an eyebrow at the side in front of him, with his arms smoothly crossed over his chest he was certain that he looked like an almost imposing figure to the side who had dared to come onto his side of the fold. From the looks of it they didn’t even have the gall to be nervous, or in the very least sorry that they had woken him up so dreadfully early when he could have at least slept in for another three or so hours. He’d barely even had enough time to get dressed before he’d been called, let alone enough time to tell Remus where he was going.
“Well well… Look who it is,” Janus preened, clearly acting like he didn’t even have his morning makeup on and that his dark circles clearly weren’t on display for the whole world to see. “To what do I owe the untenable pleasure, of having you in my presence dearest Loga-”
“Logic.” Logan cut in, before Janus could get through another singular letter of Logan’s name. “It’s Logic now.”
Everything that Janus had prepared came to a screeching halt, all the monologues that could have bothered Logan and every philosophical quote that he had on the tip of his tongue, all of them, were swept away in an instant. And in that moment, he was left speechless for what felt like the first time in a very very long time. Right now, he felt very out of the loop, and like he had missed something dreadfully important.
He did not like it.
Janus blinked down at Logan, “What?” He almost dumbly asked.
Logan smiled, and that alone made Janus feel as if he had just walked right into a trap of his own making in some way. It was a polite smile that just bled the fakeness of a modern setting, of a cubicle worker who was seconds away from slamming a clipboard on another co-workers head if they invited them to their baby shower just one more time. Except Logan’s smile seemed to lack that last part, with every inch of face to his eyes just oozing that politeness of a work setting. This in no way felt like the Logan that he had benched for the trial, and this did not feel like the Logan he had gotten out of the way so that he could take his place when it came to talking some sense to Patton.
Logan shuffled the papers in his hands, forcing Janus to break the open stare he’d had on Logan’s face back down to his hands. “I need these filled out by next wednesday if you could, I could possibly give you until thursday, but it has to be done within the week if things are to go smoothly.” Logan held the papers out to him expectantly, “Understood, Deceit?”
The papers that Logan held out to him went untouched as that one word hit Janus like a punch to the gut, and it took conscious effort to not touch his chest just to be sure that he wasn’t physically hurting from some invisible hit. He could feel his face falling, into a look of shock, hurt, and unease before he managed to school his expression into one of abject emotionlessness before the other side could truly see how it had made him feel. It honestly surprised him, with just one simple word… Logan had managed to wound him in such a way.
“Excuse me?” He asked softly, but it was so very clear that underneath that softness, a fierce anger only sparked by his hurt was bubbling just below the surface. “Could you repeat that?”
For a long moment there was nothing, as Janus looked down at Logan. He fought the urge to tap his foot impatiently, as he waited for something.. anything really that would explain as to why Logan was acting like this, or even just talking like he was. It made something infernal in him want to rage and snap like he had at Roman, but for his own sake he held off but he wasn’t going to for long… not if Logan used that word again when he well and truly already knew Janus’ name and knew that he could use it.
Was he doing it out of spite? Or just to piss him off and see him lose his composure?
Why even come here to give him stupid paperwork of all things if he was going to act like this, didn’t he know that the way to get anyone to do anything was to not make them angry?
Had… had something happened with him and the other sides?
“What are you doing Loga… Logic,” Janus quickly amended the moment he saw Logan’s mouth about to open to correct him. “You know that this isn’t you… so what are you doing acting like this? You aren't fooling anyone.” And then a bit more softly he added, “Are you okay?”
There it was.
Something in Logan’s expression softened slightly, maybe it was his eyes or the fact that his firm and fixed polite smile fell away just slightly… but clearly enough for Janus to spot it.
“I…” Logan’s hands dropped down to his side, the papers hanging loosely from his hand, “This is the way that it has to be… with everyone. I can’t be the Logan that everyone wants from me anymore, that’s the version of me that the others… and you walked all over to get what you wanted out of me. I have to be like this, because if I don’t then they won’t listen, and if they won’t listen… then nothing will get better for us or for Thomas.” For what felt like the first time in days, Logan felt like he was wearing his heart on his sleeve. “And if that means treating every single one of you like you're just my coworkers, instead of people who are supposed to be my friends, and people who are supposed to care about me… then that’s something that I’ll have to do.”
Logan’s mouth opened again, but this time no words came out. He was running out of things to say, and ways to explain his thought process. It had all seemed so clear to him when he had been inside the imagination, but now… now it was so hard to explain things and explain just what he was trying to do.
The actions seemed easy though, or at least they should have been.
He had never known that cutting himself off from everyone would have been so hard...
“You’re upset though,” Janus cut in almost immediately, he didn’t need a built in lie detector test to tell him that. Logan wore it like a wet coat, as if it troddened him down with every step that he took. The others probably couldn’t see it through their own sadness, but Janus could… he always could. “How long exactly are you planning on keeping this up, Logic?”
If it was possible Logan tried to look everywhere but at Janus, for the first time since he had seen him everything seemed to weigh down on Logan all at once. The slump of his shoulders, his messy hair that was brushed just enough to be out of his face, and his red lips that he had clearly been chewing and gnawing on. A bunch of bad habits all rolled into one logical side, and for a moment it almost seemed like Logan would succumb to them.
But then his shoulders straightened, and that look of pure determination lit up like a fire in Logan’s eyes.
“For as long as I have to.” Logan stubbornly returned, It doesn’t matter if this upsets me or not, if this makes things run more smoothly… if this will make them finally listen to me and take what I am saying seriously… then I don’t care. I really don’t care if it hurts them or me, it will make things better…”
Eventually...
The word went unspoken on Logan's tongue, and honestly it had taken every part of him to not talk to the others during dinner, and even more of him to not look at their faces. He knew that had he looked at them and seen their expressions or even just knew how they were feeling, then he would have broken and all of this… all of his grand statements about how they treated him and what he wanted would have been swept away like dust.
Janus was right, he misses them… god did he miss them. Even this, just talking normally to someone like Janus felt good to him, like a soothing aloe on something that burned inside of him. It was so dreadfully boring talking professionally all the time, that even this… was almost relaxing for him.
But this was the way that it has to be unfortunately, for him and them as well.
Taking in a deep breath, Logan fixed that same polite smile he'd had with the others into his face. "Now if we're done here I have to get back to work. Have a swell day… Deceit." It felt like he was lugging concrete with the effort that he took to turn his back to Janus, and even more to not look at the other side's face.
A face that right now was a mixture of regret, and numb horror.
A sour taste curdled in Janus’ mouth and swept all the way down to his stomach, he could only stare at the place that Logan had once stood with an empty expression. He felt like sinking down to his knees, and just curling up and feeling nothing so that he wouldn’t have to face any of the turbulent emotions that were sweeping through him. But he couldn’t, he couldn’t be allowed to falter over this, especially when it came to one of the light sides and the things that involved them.
Pressing his hand against the wall, Janus allowed himself a moment to slump against it, his head thudding against it solidly.
Was this his fault?
Yes. His mind answered him easily, he had dabbled in the business of almost everyone of the sides just to be able to get his foot into the door when it came to getting Thomas even close enough to accept him. He had known that Remus didn’t particularly care whether or not he was accepted, but Janus had cared… he had wanted it so damn much. Just to be able to help and to possibly rub it in Virgil’s face that he was helping in ways that the anxious side said that he never could do. This was his fault, whether he liked it or not, and…
He was going to have to find a way to help fix it, or at the very least deal with the idea that he had caused it.
With that in mind, he made his way back to the subconscious.
“What’s kraken Jan-Jan?” Remus spouted from somewhere in the corner of the living room, Janus didn’t really know as his feet shifted lifelessly forward.
His entire mind was numb, and the only thing he could really focus on right now was getting back to his bedroom and doing something… anything really to take his mind off of this new development that had happened. His mind felt like it was falling into the pit of a blackhole, stuck in one place but still being pulled in no matter how much it felt like he wasn’t. He shouldn’t care this much, he shouldn’t care this much about one of the only sides he had continuously messed with finally having enough of him. He shouldn’t care about just what Logan decides to do with himself, or with any of the others.
But…
“Deceit.”
Logan had called him, and he honestly hadn’t expected that one word to hurt so much. It felt like a barb being dragged over his chest, digging in deep and cutting him in places that he hadn’t even been aware of. He had gotten so used to using his actual name, that hearing his title had felt like a slap to the face.
Least of all from Logan of all sides.
“Janus!” Remus snapped loudly, sounding as if he were right behind Janus now rather than off to the side like he had been just a moment ago. And before Janus even knew it he was being tugged back by his middle, almost stumbling on his way back before he felt Remus’ hands on his shoulders steadying him for a moment. “You know that I don’t like being ignored… especially by you.” Remus grumbled hotly, a somewhat bothered look in the creative side’s eyes, and underneath that… an almost worried look in his dark eyes. “What’s going on?” He asked once more, as he scuffed his foot irritably against the floor, almost like that of a bull getting ready to charge.
Looking down, Janus noted the green sash that had been looped over his head and around his stomach, that Remus had used to practically laso him and then drag him back away from his room. It’s pressure firmly fixing him to the present, and making him think about what had happened and the consequences that would unfold from both his doing as well as Logan’s. Of course Remus would be the one to make him think about it when he really didn’t want to… that was what he did best after all. It was oddly his worst and his best quality that had slowly endeared Janus to him, not that he’d had much of a choice with how clingy Remus had been in the past.
But looking back at him, Janus felt himself sigh deeply.
He couldn’t not tell him.
“It’s…” Janus struggled for the right word. “Weird.” He lamely finished.
With a tug from his sash Remus stubbornly led him over to the couch, where he forced Janus to sit down before plopping himself right on top of Janus’ lap.
“What a coincidence!” The creative side crowed, “I’m perfect at weird things.” There was a challenge in Remus’ eyes that told him to just try and get his way out of this one, they both knew that there was no way he was squirming his way out of this one. And especially not with Remus right there. “So go on… talk.”
And so Janus did.

Sirius Black didn’t obsess over things. He just didn’t. It wasn’t in him to have something on his mind for more than necessary. He worried, yes, but this was different. There was nothing to worry about, unless he considered the rare sight of his brother smiling something to worry about. If anything he shouldn’t be worried but happy for him. No he wasn’t worried. He was...curious. Who was the girl who managed to make his brother smile?
“Stop it.” Remus grunted, snapping his fingers in front of Sirius to get his attention.
Sirius only glared at his friend as he made him jump in his seat, the cup of tea he held in his hand now all over his sweater. “Really?” Sirius hissed as he placed his cup back on the table “I’m not doing anything.” he defended himself.
Remus rolled his eyes “The fact that you are putting excuses out means you are.” he said matter of factly, shutting Sirius as the rest of his friends laughed.
James and Peter found this entire situation incredibly entertaining. Not only because Sirius had been paranoid since he saw his brother with that Ravenclaw girl, but because Remus thought it was creepy that Sirius was so invested in finding who the girl was, and that turned every interaction between Remus and Sirius into fights.
“Just go and ask whatever it is you want to know!” Remus said desperately.
“And have him see me?” Sirius hissed, pointing his fork in Regulus’ direction “Over. my. dead. body.”
Remus groaned loudly, muttering under his breath as he started to angrily stab his breakfast.
Sirius ignored him and turned back to the Ravenclaw table, his back straightening as his eyes scanned the entire Great Hall. Only the low chuckles from Peter pulling his attention back to his friends.
“She left.” James laughed “But you know Moony’s right. You need to do something about it.”
Sirius scoffed but said nothing as he held his head on his hands.
“How long has it been since you saw them? Two weeks?”
“Three.” Sirius muttered bitterly.
“Oh, you’re counting them.” Remus snorted, shaking his head.
Sirius turned sharply, pushing Remus’ head and almost getting it all over his plate “Shut up, Moony.” he said, turning back to James “And you’re one to talk, how’s Lily?” he mocked, making James smile sardonically at him.
“That’s different. At least I am doing something about it. You’re just staring. Speaking of…” James said, his eyes drifting from the table as he took his things in his hands, getting up from the table “Evans!” he didn’t say another thing, leaving the table before anyone could say anything.
“You could always talk to her.” offered Peter, making Remus and Sirius turn to him.
“I got that Peter, but she’s always with him.” Sirius said, referring to Regulus “It’s like trying to find a fish out of the water.” he sighed.
“Have you tried late at night?” Peter asked, getting questioning looks from both of his friends “I’ve heard she takes late night walks outside the castle, rarely gets caught so she won’t be easy to find but, you know, she’s all alone.”
“How do you know that?” asked Remus with wide eyes.
Peter just shrugged his shoulders as he went back to his breakfast “Rats talk.”
*******
The ceiling of your bed had started to lose shape as you stared at it, your eyes blurry as you blinked several times to clear up your sight with no luck. With a heavy sigh you turned on your side, letting out a soft groan as you read the clock on the wall across from you: 03:00 am.
You weren’t getting much sleep that night.
Careful not to wake any of your roommates, you rolled out of bed and grabbed the closest sweater you had, wrapping it over your shoulders. You made silent work on the heavy door to your dorm, walking down the stairs as you came across a few other sleepless Ravenclaws. You smiled mostly to yourself as you got to the massive library in the common room, a big group of first years sitting on the floor with books surrounding them in every direction, the sleep in their eyes known to you and every other student.
“Hi Y/N.” said one of the boys nearest to you, giving you a sleepy smile.
“Hey Félix.” you said to him, coming to kneel beside them as they all turned their attention to you “Shouldn’t you all be in bed?” you asked.
“You’re up too.” Saide, one of the girls said, and you chuckled “Why aren’t you sleeping?” she asked with amusement.
“I sensed a bunch of first years up and had to come down and see I wasn’t missing on all the fun.” you told them, scrunching your nose in a funny manner, making them all laugh.
Félix grabbed one of the biggest books in their selection, dropping it in front of you with a big thud “If you think Herbology is fun then feel free to join us, although we all know how good you are at that one.”
You made a face, sticking out your tongue as you practically crawled back “No, thank you.” you laughed humorlessly “You know I barely got out of that one myself, Sadie here had to help with my own homework.”
“True.” she confirmed, making all of them groan in defeat as they grabbed back their books.
You watched their tired eyes, all of them reading over and over the lines that still made no sense to your own brain “I’ll tell you this,” you said, capturing their attention “Since I know you won’t go to bed even if I tell you to, I’ll go down to the kitchens and grab you all some food so you can keep studying.”
They all cheered in whispers, whether it was because it was the middle of the night or due to their tired selves, you almost pouted at how cute they were and how much they reminded you of yourself and your friends.
It took a couple of minutes for you to narrow down all the things they wanted to something you could actually carry with you in “Ravenclaws studying in the middle of the night” amounts. Confident with their choices they let you go, opening the door to the common room easily as a soft breeze flew around your face, making you take a deep breath as you stepped out and started to descend the stairs. It was a long walk down to the kitchens, and a dangerous one considering the hour. Luckily, you knew your way around the castle.
The corridors echoed with the inevitable sound of your movements, your footsteps carried a rhythm of its own as you tried to be quiet, taking what you considered graceful steps with a calm but steady pace. But sometimes you couldn’t help yourself and take a few skips on your step as the air flew around you, the sound of the owls making a melody that made you wish you could dance. You had to stifle the giggles that escaped your lips every time you caught yourself making more noise than necessary, never scared of getting caught but because it would be a little embarrassing to be seen doing so, especially in the middle of the night.
Most of all you wished Regulus was there with you. It was rare to see him out in the middle of the night, almost impossible that you found him at the same time as you were outside. You wanted to make memories at Hogwarts with him, to have stories to tell when you were older about the fun mess you two would do at dramatic times in the night. You wanted to sing his favorite songs, and have him teach you how to dance, laugh as you escaped the angry calls of Professor McGonagall and get detention together for the rest of your time at Hogwarts. You wanted to have fun with your best friend. But where was he? Probably not sleeping, you knew he got the same amount of sleep or less than you did. But he decided to be boring after dinner and head straight to the Slytherin common room.
Lovely, you thought to yourself as you realized you were outside the kitchens, the characteristic aroma of it reaching your nostrils. How could it be that it smelled so amazing at the three in the morning? “Magic.” you mumbled as you turned to check on your surroundings, confirming that no one had followed you.
Stepping inside you focused on the task at hand: Feeding sleep deprived first years. Pulling out your wand you conjured Lumos, the soft light enough to get you around. The elves were very organized, laying tray after tray of food on the counters as if they were expecting you. You just hoped they wouldn’t mind your late visit.
You turned in your place, looking for something you could use to carry more things, letting out a squeal of excitement when you saw a basket there, it had a few carrots inside, carrots that you placed away as you started to collect the much needed snacks. Freshly baked bread and cookies were the most requested items. “Alright, food for the brain...Oatmeal cookies.” you said, as you placed them inside the basket “Chocolate chip cookies” you sang, humming as you placed the entire tray inside “Weird looking cookies, I can give those to Félix since he sold me out with not being good at Herbology.”
You were so entranced with your task, placing the cookies and bread neatly inside the basket that the sudden noise in the kitchens made you jump in your place, making you drop one of the cookies as you turned sharply, your wand held high as you stared shakily into the darkness. “Who 's there?” you asked, voice barely above a whisper.
When no one answered you, you relaxed your arm, letting it fall at your side as you sighed heavily “This is why I need sleep.” you told no one, kneeling to the floor and picking up the cookie that you dropped “Maybe I won’t feed the weird looking cookies to Félix, then.” you mumbled, looking suspiciously at your surroundings before you picked up the basket and started your way back to the common room.
The small scare in the kitchens left you on edge. Blame the lack of sleep or the fact that you were all alone in an enormous castle that had actual ghosts, your previous urge to dance and run around the hallways was now replaced with a need to run from whatever you were imagining was behind your back.
“No one’s there. No one’s there. No one’s there.” you repeated time and time again, turning to look over your shoulder every time you thought you heard something. Were you finally losing your mind? You were certain you heard a chuckle.
Almost reaching the stairs for the Ravenclaw common room you were more relaxed, your tired mind barely registering your surroundings. Turning one last time to be safe no one had seen you, you turned only to be met by the firm yet soft feeling of someone else's chest.
You didn’t have time to register how loud was your scream when a pair of hands took hold of your shoulders, preventing you from falling as you clutched the basket against your own chest.
“Merlin.” you mumbled, your eyes scrunched shut as you realized there was an actual person before you, a silly smile forming on your lips only to fall once you opened up your eyes.
“Are you alright?” asked a familiar yet strange voice.
You swallowed hard, nodding your head as you took one careful step back “Yes, thank you.” you said, putting on a smile as you examined his face and looked for any badge in his chest. He wasn’t a prefect. You let out a sigh of relief and he furrowed his eyebrows.
“You really are hungry.” he said, his eyes falling to the basket in your hands “Are you eating all that by yourself?” he asked.
It took you a second to react, your eyes following his gaze before you let out a nervous chuckle “No, no- this isn’t, it’s not for me.” you explained, the raise of his eyebrow making you come up with an explanation without him even asking “First years are studying and need some fuel, I’m just taking care of them.” you said, lifting up the basket with a smile.
“Let me guess.” he said, his hand going inside the basket as he grabbed a cookie “Food for the brain?” he asked.
You found yourself nodding with a smile, a sudden realization striking you as you stared with wide eyes at the boy in front of you. Regulus told you studying snacks were food for the brain; it was an inside joke the two of you had, or at least you thought. With a shiver running down your spine you took a more careful look at the boy in front of you, the black hair and beautiful grey eyes, a smile so familiar flashing at you from the wrong face. Food for the brain.
“Regulus.” you murmured, capturing his attention.
“Sorry?” he said.
You shook your head, taking a step back before you said “Your Regulus’ brother.” you told him “Sirius.”
Sirius would have smirked and said some flirty comment back to you, but the look on your face told him it wasn’t the best idea.
Footsteps caught both your attention, making the two of you turn to the source of the sound before he took a hold of your arm, pulling you next to him and behind a pillar. There was little to no space between you, his chest heaving with his breathing brushing close against your arm as he held a finger to his lips, looking forward and over your head.
You couldn’t help but stare up at him, the resemblance he had to Regulus so scary it made you wonder how you never noticed before.
His eyes were glued to the hall, only moving back to you once the sound of footsteps was fading in the distance. “I think they’re gone, but try not to scream again.” he said, focusing back on you “How come you know my name but I don't know yours?” he asked, the flirtatious tone on his voice having no effect in you.
“You’re Regulus brother.” you repeated “Scarily similar.” you explained.
He ignored the last comment, erasing any hint of bitterness “Still, I didn't get your name.”
Your eyes danced between him and the stairs, taking a more secure hold of the basket in your hand you looked up to him “I have to go.” you said with a smile “Goodnight Sirius.”
Before he could react, you had walked around him, your arms brushing together as you ran up the stairs. He had reached his hand to take a hold of yours but gave up in the end, you clearly didn’t want to talk to him and that only made you more interesting. Regulus had clearly talked to you about him.
*******
You sat with Regulus after a long day of classes, the weekend finally there for you to spend together and relax. Except you couldn’t. One thought still bugging you after days of the events.
“Hey, Reg?” you called, looking back to where he sat on the grass.
He hummed.
“Can you tell me about your brother, Sirius?”

everytime // Sirius Black
Sweetener x Marauders
play ‘everytime’ by Ariana Grande <3
Tumblr media
pairing: sirius black x reader
word count: 2.3k ✨
warnings: angst, fluff at the end, mentions of drinking, under-age drinking, partying, depression?, mentions of drugs and drug use, someone trying to take advantage on the drunk reader, crying? Let me know if I missed something.
This also might have a few time jumps
A/N: I wrote this in 1st person but I feel like I should make these in 3rd so that’s what I’ll start doing. But this is also my first time making a one-shot fic so cut me some slack if it’s trash. But I hope you enjoy!
I get tired of your no-shows
Taking in the warmth through my fingers I look at the door once more before glancing at the clock.
He’s late. Again
I take a deep breath to cool down my nerves and sigh. I sip the rest of my butterbeer before looking at the entrance once more and packing my stuff and walking out. I look around once more before giving up and walking back to the castle.
You get tired of my control
As I’m walking back I start to get more irritated by the step. This isn’t the first time he’s done this. Always too busy to hang out because of him with his friends or too busy because of pranks. The missed dates and the interrupted times. All for his friends. I’m clearly not a priority in his life and that has to change or I’m not going to be in it.
Walking through the castle I collect my thoughts on how I’m gonna approach this situation. But since I’m so pissed off, I’m gonna take an angry approach.
I walk up to the gryffindor common room and say the password before walking in.
As I stepped into the common room, lo and behold, the marauders spread on the couches talking loudly and laughing. Seeing that made my blood boil. As I walk over I catch the attention of the brunet,
“Y/N!!!!! Hey!!!” The Potter boy called out. I gave a weak smile. Which caught the attention of my boyfriend.
“Hey, babe.” He smiled at me. I internally roll my eyes and keep an emotionless face on. At this point all the attention from the boys is on me.
“Hey. Can we talk?” In the corner of my eye I can see Remus and James glance at each other and look worriedly at Sirius. Yeah. They know better.
“Uhh. Sure. About what?” This time I rolled my eyes. I ignore his question and grab his hand before dragging him up to his dorm.
We enter and I close the door before leaning on it. He goes and sits on the foot on his bed.
“What do you want to talk about? We were in the middle of planning.” Bouncing his knee, I can tell he’s getting impatient and just wants this to hurry up and be done with this. I get even more annoyed at this.
“What do you want to talk about? We were in the middle of planning.”- I mocked him- “This is exactly what I’m talking about! You’re always busy! Doing this and doing that!” I start to raise my voice. My face starts to heat up due to my anger. I try to calm down but it doesn’t seem to be working.
He opens his mouth to say something but I cut him off,
“Where were you today?! I was waiting for you! For our date that YOU literally planned!” His eyes widened with realization and looked at me with a guilty face. But I’m too pissed off to care.
My eyes start to water with tears of frustration but I’m nowhere near done,
“Everytime I want to hang out you’re always busy with your friends and pranks! You never have time for me anymore!” At this point tears are streaming down my face and Sirius doesn’t look that far behind.
“This is the third date you missed! Because you forgot! I’m done with being second best. Im probably not even that!” He has his head down, hands on his knees.
“I—I-I” he stutters out what I think is going to be some wack apology. But I’m done. I can’t do it anymore.
“No. I’m done.” As soon as I said those words his head shot up fast and looked at me with wide eyes.
“No-” he goes to protest but I cut him off again.
“No I can’t do this. Not anymore. This has gone on for too long. You need to fix your priorities. I hope you don’t treat another girl like this. I’m breaking up with you, Sirius.” I don’t wait for a reply and I simply walk out of the door and walk back down to the common room, wiping my tears.
They keep telling me to let go
As I make it to the common room I notice the boys are still there. They see me and go to talk but a loud sound cuts them off. Items getting thrown around, is what I guessed it to be.
We all freeze and guilt washes over me. It’s Sirius.
But I don’t really let go when I say so
I turn my head to the staircase with a sad expression before brushing it off.
I had to. I deserve better. I thought to myself.
I look over to the boys to see that they have worried but knowing expressions on their faces. I gave them weak smiles and walked away to my dorm.
I keep giving people blank stares
Drama travels fast around here at Hogwarts. So it wasn’t long until word got out that infamous Sirius Black was single again and back on the market.
My friends are starting to get worried about me because of my reaction to the breakup, or lack thereof. I know how to keep my emotions buried. I know it’s an unhealthy coping mechanism but I refuse to be sad over a boy who treated me like shit.
I’m so different when your not there
What they don’t know is that I cry myself to sleep. Everyday. I close my curtains around my bed and put a silencing spell around it and sob. For hours. It’s pretty sad.
But I keep my neutral face on for everyone else. From what I know Sirius isn’t doing much better. He’s just more open about his broken heart. Lily tells me he mopes around and doesn’t speak much anymore. Let alone prank anyone.
Everytime she tells me about him being sad it makes me want to run out the room and find him to cuddle with him and kiss him and apologize profusely for the break up.
But I remind myself that it’s not my fault and that I deserve better.
It’s like something out of Shakespeare
Because I’m really not here when you’re not there
I tried to fight our energy
It's been three months since the break up and I have developed some pretty bad habits.
I’ve secretly been drinking to numb the pain. I know it’s not healthy but I can’t seem to stop.
Once all my roommates are sleeping I drink by myself on my bed. It helped in the beginning but now I can’t stop.
I’ve perfected my fake smile so no one could tell the difference. Well one person did, but I was unaware.
I’m in a deep depression and I have no one to talk to. None of my friends know, I can’t tell them. They won’t understand.
Meanwhile,
“Pads, you can’t keep moping around. She’s moved on, you should too.”
“No, I can’t. I still love her.” Sirius said but due to him being face first on his pillow it came out muffled.
“Well then you’re going to have to work your way to get her back. Show her you’ve changed.” The werewolf suggested to his friend.
“Really?” He picks his head up to face his friends, red and puffy eyes with a hopeful expression.
They nod.
But everytime I think I’m free
As the weeks pass I start to receive notes and letters with little flowers attached to them. I know they are from Sirius but I can’t seem to open them and read. It’s too hard and I’m not ready yet.
You get high and call on the regular
Once I reach my empty dorm I run to my trunk and collect all the saved letters. I place them on my bed and chuck my shoes off before climbing on my bed while getting comfortable.
I sort the letter from how I received them. I slowly open the first one,
Dear y/n,
Looking at us now I regret a lot of things.
I don’t blame you for not seeing us together in the future.
I was horrible, but for you I am willing to change. No. I will change.
You deserve so much better and if you let me I could be that person.
But I have to fix myself in order for that to happen.
If you're willing I would love to have another chance.
forever yours,
Sirius
As I finish reading my eyes are cloudy with tears. I continue to read all of the letters.
And by the end of it I’m sobbing.
I get weak and fall like a teenager
I knew it was a bad idea to read those letters. Because after that I am ready to run back into his arms and express my love. But I can’t until I know that he’s changed.
I deserve better. I keep telling myself that.
Why, oh why does God keep bringing me back to you?
Everytime I see him now I try to avoid him. Everytime he’s in a room, I leave. Everytime class is over I run out before he gets the chance to talk to me.
Because I know if I take one look into his beautiful stormy gray eyes I will fall all over again. And that can’t happen.
I deserve better.
I get drunk, pretend that I’m over it
It’s Friday night and today is the big Gryffindor party. Being stressed with liquor and drugs is not a good combo but I haven’t been safe these past couple of months.
I’m in my dorm room getting ready. I decide on a natural glam look with a bold red lip and a black satin body con dress with some black heels.
As I’m walking down the stairs, I can hear the music blasting and the red led lights are turned on. I part from my friends and immediately head to the liquor table. As I’m walking I fail to notice the pair of eyes following my every move.
I take a plastic red cup and I fill it up with the hardest liquor I could find on the table. After downing the cup I refill it and make my way over to my friends who are currently in the corner smoking what the muggles call ‘weed’. It’s strong but it helps me relax. Who knew muggle were so helpful.
Self-destruct, show up like an idiot
About an hour into the party everyone was either high, drunk or both. Which I was. Again me with my unhealthy coping mechanisms.
I ended up dancing in the middle of the room with a huge group of people. I feel eyes on me but I’m too drunk to care at the moment.
As I’m dancing I feel someone come up behind me and grab my hips. I turn around to see a random 7th year boy. He begins to trail his hands on my body.
He leans down to whisper in my ear,
“How about we go to my down, sweetheart?” His hot breath makes a shiver run down my spine, and not in a good way.
I began to shake my head while saying no but he clearly didn’t get the message because he gripped my wrists and tried to pull me with him. But because I was too drunk I couldn’t defend myself properly.
As I continue to struggle I see a person step in front of me, glaring at the boy,
“I suggest you let her go. Now.” I heard a familiar voice, I couldn’t tell who from my drunken state. Once the person turned around a smile involuntarily appeared on my face,
“Siri! Hi!” I giggled as he guided me away from everyone.
“Hi. Let’s get you somewhere safe.” He picks me up bridal style and starts to carry me up to the boys dorms and to his room.
I yawned and cuddled up into his chest,
“I’m still mad at you.” I mumbled. He set me down on his bed and goes to his trunk to take out some clothes,
“I know.” He said, sadly. As he’s helping me I go on a mini rant,
“You know you treated me horrible. I just wanted my boyfriend but you never made time for me. You missed dates, you cancelled on me a lot. And whenever we had time together alone you had to leave early. I just wanted you to give me your love and attention. But I was never a priority. I miss you so much, Siri.” After he tucks me into his bed he kisses my forehead and responds,
“I miss you too, baby.” He goes to walk away but I grab his hand. Which makes him turn around and give me a questioning look,
“Please stay.” I pout. He smiles and climbs into the bed with me. I turn to look at him,
“Cuddles?” I ask him with puppy eyes.
“Cuddles.” I snuggle up next to him with my head on his chest and my legs bunched up with his. He puts his chin on top of my head and begins to play with my hair.
“You know, I still love you. And I’m willing to give you a second chance, Siri.” I can’t see him but I can tell he has a huge grin on his face.
“I love you too, pup. Go to sleep. We’ll talk in the morning.” I start to drift off but before I do fully I feel him kiss my forehead again and whisper ‘I love you’ one last time before the darkness engulfed me.
Why, oh why does God keep bringing me back to you?

Remus Lupin x Reader
Main Masterlist
Part 1
Next
Summary: You're Lily Evans' little sister. She isn't the only witch in the family.
Remus Lupin Masterlist
Tumblr media
You were excited to see your favorite sister again. Today was the day that you went with your parents to get Lily from the train station. You'd seen her over the holidays and read her letters, but you missed her.
You saw your sister's bright red hair and ran through the crowd, ignoring your parents protesting behind you. You were only a year younger than Lily, but sometimes everyone treated you like a child.
"Lily!" You call. She look back, a little confused. You jumped infront of her, not minding the boy she was talking to. You wrapped your arms around, making her stumble back a bit. She laughed, hugging you back just as tightly. "I missed you so much!" You pull away a little bit to look at her. "Petunia has been a nightmare! She's made friends with all these jerks who of course just must hate me! And-" Your sister cuts you off.
"Slow down, Y/N," she says, chuckling. "Petunia and her friends can wait." You nod, and smile again.
"Anyways, I want to hear about your year. Of course I saw you at Christmas, and I read your letters, but still! I'm sure your friends are much better than hers. Will you have them over during the summer? Do you-" a boy cuts you off.
"How much sweets have you had, kid?" The boy with dark hair and glasses asks. Lily gives him a pointed look. He wasn't the boy Lily had been talking to. The other boy had lighter brown hair and was tall. He was scrawny, gangly. But he looked much nicer. And the boy next to the boy in glances had longer black hair. Then there was the fair haired boy who looked like he didn't very well fit in with the other three.
"I'm not a kid," you say, glaring at the boy. Yes, you were short for your age. But you had grown to hate when people assumed things about you because of it. The boy raises an eyebrow, almost amused.
"Yeah, she's definitely Evans' sister," he says, glancing at Lily who rolled her eyes.
"Y/N, this is James, Sirius, and Peter. And this is my friend Remus," she says. Pointedly not calling the other three her friends. You nodded at the other three and gave the much taller boy a small smile.
"Nice to meet you," you say. He nods in agreement, clearly amused with the situation.
"You too," he says. You smile a little more and your parents walk over. Your dad puts a hand on your shoulder, and his other hand fell on Lily's.
"Come on you two, lets get home." Lily nods, smiling at Remus.
"I'll see you around, Remus," she says. He nods, smiling at her. Youu turn to your father and walk back with him.
Lily had introduced you to a few of her other friends from school over the summer. Aparently Remus lives in the 'muggle' world. That's what she said at least. But they didn't actually visit eachother. She mainly hung out with Severus. You didn't really like him, but he was Lily's bestfriend.
"Lily! An owl!" You call up the stairs as an owl stops by the kitchen window. You smile at it, and put some food beside it, and take the two envelopes from it's mouth. It eats the food as you turn to Lily who ran in. She smiled and took the letters from your hand.
She looked a little confused and turned the letters over. Her eyes widened and she looked up at you.
"What?" You ask. She hands you one of the envelopes. You see your name on the back of it. Your eyes widened as well, and you and Lily made eye contact. After a minute she grinned and embraced you.
"Ah! You're a witch!" She says. You stood there in shock. Your parents and Petunia run in. Your parents smiled when they realized, but Petunia scowled.
Just another reason why on the train ride to Hogwarts, you sat with Lily and her friends happily. Mary, Marlene, and Alice all welcomed you warmly. Remus and his friends stopped by to all of you. They looked surprised to see you, Remus was the first to smile.
"Hey, Y/N, nice to see you again," he says. You smile back and nod.
"You too," you say. He chuckles slightly, realizing that's what he said to you when you initially met. Sirius pushes past his friend.
"Huh, didn't think we'd be lucky enough to get two Evans girls with us this year," he says. Lily gives him a sharp, disapproving look. You however, were a little amused. James looked down the hall and chuckled.
"Lets go, Sirius. Snivellus is coming," he says, smirking. You were a little confused.
"His name is Severus, Potter," Lily says. You realized who the nickname was for and couldn't help the small chuckle that escaped you. Lily gave you a disapproving look, and you pressed your lips together. Trying to hide your smile. It didn't go very well. The boys all smiled at you.
"I like her," Sirius says. You smiled slightly.
"Yeah, me too," James says. Your smile widened slightly.
You were sorted into Gryffindor that night. Lily was very happy for you. You had friends from all houses, but mainly from your own. And the boys seemed to like you. James plopped himself down next to you.
"Hello," he says, smiling. You don't look up from your paper. You were still working on your essay for transfiguration. Remus sat down on your other side, and Sirius sat down on the floor inbetween you and James. His back was against the couch.
"Oh no, boys, we've lost her," Sirius says.
"She's lost, we'll never get her back," James adds, sighing. You turn your head and glare at the two of them. Their eyes widen, almost with fear. You shifted your gaze back to your paper. You'd procrastinated and needed to get the essay done tonight. Remus leaned forward looking over your shoulder. He chuckles slightly and looks back at his friends.
"We haven't lost her," he says. You glare at him, he still looked amused. You reach over and pushed his face back, and he leans back on the couch. His friends try to stifle their laughs, as you look back at your paper.
"Definitely not," Sirius says. You didn't even look away from your paper this time and just slapped the back of his head.
"I say she needs a break," James says. You flip him off over your shoulder, again not looking. You saw him and Sirius exchange a look out of your peripheral vision.
"Guys, just let her get it done," Remus says, you could hear him rolling his eyes.
"She'll blow up if she stresses any more right now," James says.
"I'll blow up if you keep talking, you twat," you say to him. Him and Sirius exchange a look again. This time they nod. They quickly stand up, going towards the boy's staircase. You sigh, trying to just finish your paper. Remus leans forward.
"Do you want help?" He asks, more gently than before. You glance at him and shake your head.
"I'm fine. I'm almost done anyways." He nods, sitting back. He didn't get up or walk away. He just waited for you to be done. Silently. He even opened a book to read while you worked.
In your second year, you'd basically become the Mauraders adopted sister. At least James and Sirius. They treated you like you were their sister and not Lily's.
They were allowed to start going to Hogsmeade, but you had to wait another year.
Sirius was starting his flirting ways.
James had officially started trying to get your sister to go out with him.
Peter was just following their lead.
And Remus sat back, watching their idiocy unfold. You look at Remus, who was sitting beside you on the couch. You knit your eyebrows together. The other three boys were probably somewhere in the castle causing some kind of mayhem. Remus looked up from his book, feeling you looking at him.
"What?" He asks. You turn on the couch.
"Why aren't you with the others right now?" You ask. He seems a little confused by your question.
"I don't know. I just felt like staying here," he says, shrugging and looking back down at his book.
"Then why aren't you like them?" You ask. He chuckles, looking back up at you.
"What do you mean?" He asks, looking amused.
"Like Sirius and James. They've been trying to set you up all year and you couldn't be less interested. Why is that?" You ask. He seems to think about it again. He shrugs again.
"I don't know. I don't like the girls they think I will, I guess," he says.
"Sure, but you don't even try to find a girl that you will like?" You ask, raising an eyebrow. He closes his book, keeping one finger in it as a book mark. He gives you a questioning look.
"Why are you asking?"
"Answer me, I'll answer you," you say just as quickly as he'd finished. He sighs, leaning further into the couch, getting more comfortable. You raise an eyebrow when he pauses.
"I think we're to young," he says after a second. You could tell he wasn't telling the full truth. Maybe that was part of it, but it definitely wasn't all of it. You knit your brows together, trying to think of his reasoning. You just didn't get it.
So you just turn back to your homework. "Hey, you said you'd tell me," he says. You glance at him.
"Guess I'm just curious," you say. He clearly doesn't believe you. He won't give you a full answer? He won't get one either.

Fic Recs (mostly Naruto cause I read too many good fics in the fandom and now I'm in hell)
[Naruto]
Spirit-Touched by phooykazooi
Once upon a time, the Haruno clan were priests. It was said that they were spirit-touched, and that they walked among the downtrodden and the poor, and did not bow to royalty.
Or, an AU in which Sakura can see spirits.
Part 1 of The Realms Between
(Really, and I mean REALLY fantastic Shikamaru & Sakura friendship! Fantastic, beautiful writing, and such good worldbuilding, god, and the Haruno family is so badass!! Sakura and everything she does makes me want to scream!! Please read!)
Final Evaluation by Do_the_Cool_Whip
Progress evaluations are one-on-one consultation meetings between academy students and their teacher. Their purpose is to inform academy students of their strengths and weaknesses and guide them down their ideal path to becoming a strong shinobi. Upon graduating the academy and passing their jounin-sensei test, new genin return to the academy for one final consultation. (Or: The story of what happens when Umino Iruka uses his final meetings with his students as way to send them off to become the best shinobi they can possibly be.)
(Iruka! Is! The! Best! Teacher! Ever! End of story!!! Great interpretation of all the characters and their capabilities and I am so so excited for the sequel that will undoubtedly come! XD)
Celestial Bodies by Oceanbreeze7
Sasuke looked at the fire, eyes glowing red as the mutated corrupted seal on his throat. "Amaterasu blessed me. I see things. Like you with two normal eyes and the Hokage. And Sakura with a seal on her forehead. And I run Chidori through Naruto's heart. I keep trying to kill him. Over and over. And that knuckleheaded idiot never gives up.”
(Don't you get it? I saw it. The moon will bleed, the nations will die. The world is going to end.)
Part 1 of Celestial Bodies and Anomalies
(I swear, this fic freaking elevated my expectations on Sasuke-centric fics in general holy hell. Also, read the fucking sequel after this cause EVERYTHING GOES NUTS AND THE PLOT GOES OFF AND I'M HERE FOR THIS SHIT. Fucking Uchihas man. Also, you wouldn't think this series is funny, but it is, and it's amazing.)
A step to the left (and right off the cliff) by weavingBlue
Team Seven starts off on a different foot and Sasuke's canonical journey to get stronger goes off the rails a bit. It all works out though. Probably.
(This fic went in a direction I didn't expect and it's GLORIOUS. SO FUNNY, I honestly was dying while I was reading this. Please give this a chance!!)
promises by BombsAreForBabies
It's her first kiss and Naruto's last. She promises him that she will bring Sasuke home. It's his dying wish, after all.
(Naruto bleeds out faster than the kyuubi can heal him.
Sakura learns that being a ninja is more than fancy jutsu and fun.
Sasuke does not know that he just killed his best friend and turned his most loyal comrade into his worst enemy.)
(Listen LISTEN I know this sounds depressing but the relationship developments and slow healing is EVERYTHING and I think it's absolutely worth it to read this. Sakura's characterization is so good and Kakashi makes me want to hug him. A lot.)
Fang Under Fang by Vroomian
"Are we sure he's really an Inuzuka?"
(The answer is no.)
-
Someone reborn as Inuzuka Kiba not only has to deal with bullshit ninja magic, but soulmates being A Thing.
(Really good self-insert fic and its platonic soulmates, not romantic! I am always here for a good Kiba-centric fic and I won't say who the soulmate is. It's unexpected but so, so good! Trust me!)
Haunt The Lonely by Tht0neGal666
(Series where Sakura can see ghosts and the Things she gets up to due to this ability. The fics are short but man, you can already see the shifting differences in Team 7's dynamics, it's great!)
Perception by Ellie_Enchanted
Naruto can sense auras, which throws everything off it's balance. Because really, with someone as open as Naruto running around and peering into the depths of people's souls, something is bound to change. In other words, sometimes all that's needed is a push. Also, Sasuke apparently glows.
(Naruto the empath changing the plot and making it Better and I am loving it!)
Crossfire by DejaVu22
Following the events of Naruto, Uchiha Sasuke never makes it to Orochimaru's hideout. Instead, he is waylaid by a one-eyed man named Tobi, a man possessing a Sharingan, a terrifying dual personality, a penchant for always being late, and a single-minded mission to stop the Akatsuki in their tracks. When Sasuke runs into Naruto again years later, he must ally with his old teammate in order to protect him from the Akatsuki, while keeping him out of the two man war Tobi and Sasuke have started against the dangerous organization.
(I honest to god can't stop cackling when I read this, the Sasuke & Obito dynamic is so freaking chaotic and Sasuke's characterization is the best thing I've ever read. This boi is a mEsS and I'm fucking rooting for him. He cares so much! There's secret identity shenanigans happening on sasuke's end and it's HILARIOUS! This is the duo I never thought I needed but here it is! *cackles insanely*)

[Diamond no Ace]
Echo in His Hands by SportRayne (rayningnight)
Ship: Miyuki/Sawamura
What does it mean, when you remember snapshots of your own future?
Is it your future at all, if you change it?
Would you even want to change it?
(Look I am WEAK for BAMF Eijun and time travel fics and Miyuki being a tanuki bastard, okay? Time travel fic where Eijun gets feelings of people he knew before in the future. Really good so far and am so excited over this fic!)
The path we walk by WindsOfTime
Ship: Miyuki/Sawamura
Eijun goggles at the magazine she just shoved into his hands. "W-Wakana!" "I know!" she says, beaming. "That's my soulmate!!" "I know!!" "My soulmate plays baseball!!"
(Became such an instant fave so fast it's unbelievable. I LOVE THESE IDIOTS SO MUCH! Best soulmate fic in this fandom, hands down!)

[One Piece]
switching places by fireflywitch
Zoro is 21 and wakes up in a desert they already saved, on a ship that they burned two years ago, and standing next to a man who is supposed to be dead. Except, that can’t be right, can it?
Zoro is 19 and wakes up on a ship that’s too big, next to a robot wearing a swimsuit, and he’s supposed to fight something called a Kaido. Also, he’s missing an eye, and no one’s even a little worried about it?
(or)
Time travel is a shitshow, and Zoro didn't sign up for this.
(FUCKING HILARIOUS ZORO IS THE BEST PERSON TO SEND BACK IN TIME CAUSE HE'D BE TERRIBLE YET FANTASTIC AT IT I CAN'T MAN FIEWNOPFEW)
No Time To Crank The Sun by VIKAN
He’s surrounded by strangers, but they’re all trying to convince him otherwise. Or, Zoro faces a mysterious and relentless challenge that he just can’t wrap his head around.
(This ripped my heart open, I cried reading this my god. Please read this, the pain is so worth it and Zoro and his relationship with his crew is so good here. This reminded me why I love the Straw Hats so much!)
-
[Fairy Tail]
to learn about a lucy (with a look into the future.) by るる凪 - nagi (arurun)
A watching the future fanfic.
It's currently X781, three years before canon. A group of Fairy Tail mages find themselves in a large building, with no known way out.
They sit down, and they watch the future.
(This is so much more fun than I thought it would be and I'm so happy I found this fic. This fic reignited my old love for this fandom and I hope it does for you too!)
-
[Harry Potter]
sunflowers by Marnie27
One day, a young girl sits on the edge of a well. On this day, she falls in. Then the next, she’s not even a ‘she’ anymore. He’s Peter Pettigrew — doomed to die at the hands of his (betrayed) friend’s son.
Peter is selfish, bitter and brash. He’s not some fairy tale hero, he doesn’t care if everyone around him dies, as long as he lives. The marauders are annoying and childish. Survival is his priority, and he can’t afford to face distractions.
This just makes the fact that soulmates are now apparently a thing all the more godawful.
(And then another day years later he falls into an entirely new impossibility, Remus Lupin in tow, right into the third book of Harry Potter. Smack bang on the other Peter Pettigrew’s grave).
It’s confusing and graceless, and entirely something that would happen to him of all people.
(Self-insert fic where a girl reincarnates into Peter Pettigrew! And there are soulmates! And it's angsty and hilarious and Peter is an Asshole (somewhat unintentionally lol). Always a fan of biased pov fics and characters slowly improving themselves and their mental health! Cause dying! Is! Traumatic! *smiley face* Please read!)
-
[Crossovers]
he's a killer queen, sunflower, guillotine by hoye
Fandoms: Fullmetal Alchemist, Harry Potter
He has to be the weirdest Hufflepuff Harry’s ever seen. Scratch that, he’s the weirdest Hufflepuff Hogwarts has ever seen.
(One thing everyone could agree on: NEVER call Edward Elric short.)
(This is peak Edward Elric and all the best things about him and I'm just having a Good Time. Friendships! Logical solutions! Marauder screentime! And so much More! *bright grin* It's a fun place here!)

Gay Secrets and Fabulous Hair
pairing: jily (james x lily), wolfstar (remus x sirius)
genre: fluff FLUFF FLUUUUUUUUFFFFFFFFF
warnings: minor panic attack
words: 4508
“What’s up, Evans?” Sirius said, coming into the common room and sitting on the couch beside Lily.
“What? Oh, nothing,” she said.
“Come on, spill,” Sirius said. “What’s bothering you?”
“Nothing, nothing. Just Potter—”
“Ah, got James on your mind now, have you?” Sirius said, smirking.
“Shut up, Sirius,” she said, but she blushed and looked at her hands, giving her away entirely. “He’s just getting on my nerves is all.”
“Hmm, what did he do this time?” Sirius asks.
“Ok, this is going to sound dumb. But he won’t shut up about his hair and it’s giving me a headache. He’s just so self-absorbed. It was fine when I hated him because I didn’t have to listen to him rambling on about it all the time but now that we’re actually friends… it’s quite irritating.”
“Yeah, he hasn’t shut up about his hair for about seven years. Although I suppose I’m being a hypocrite right now cause, let’s be honest, neither have I.”
“True, true,” Lily said. “It just annoying, you know?” But she had a small smile on her face. She tried to hide it but Sirius saw it. He knew Lily fancied James. It was beyond obvious. But while she refused to admit it he could still have some fun, couldn’t he? Besides, it wouldn’t be long before Lily and James got together. He should take advantage of this opportunity before it’s too late. And he just had the perfect idea.
“You know,” he started, grinning mischievously at Lily, “we might be able to fix that.” Lily turned to him, eyebrows raised.
“I’m listening.”
---------
When James wakes up the next morning, Sirius is still asleep. Predictable. He changes and goes downstairs to breakfast but before he leaves the common room, a new notice on the noticeboard catches his eye.
Society for Witches and Wizards with Hair More Fabulous Than Life Itself
Exclusive invitations will be given to those with outstanding hair by tonight
If you wish to join and were not given an invitation, you may come to the auditions that will be held over the next two days and we, Lily Evans and Sirius Black shall decide if your hair is spectacular enough to join our club.
Again, it was predictable that Sirius would start a society for people with fabulous hair. But Lily? She was always going on about how James was too self-absorbed. This seemed pretty hypocritical. Although, in all fairness, Lily did have fabulous hair. James Potter, of all people, would know that.
All day, James waited for Sirius or Lily to invite him to join their society but neither one of them mentioned anything. Lily invited Marlene at lunch and she accepted, giving Lily a bewildered look until Lily whispers something in her ear and they both giggle and keep whispering together. James edges closer to where their sitting and tries to be as quiet as possible. Lily’s laugh was the most angelic sound James had ever heard and every time he heard it, it filled him with a sense of warmth and bubbly happiness and excitement. He knows that Lily doesn’t like him like that but he can’t help treasure these moments where he can appreciate all the little things about her that somehow nobody else seems to notice. Her laugh, her smile, her eyes.
James didn’t want to be in love with Lily. Loving someone who could hardly stand you was painful enough, but to become friends with her and realize that she’s more incredible than you could’ve ever imagined… that was a type of hurt James never thought he would experience. No, James did not want to be in love with Lily Evans. But it baffled him that there were people — living, breathing people who existed in this world — who had not fallen in love with her. James thought it was unavoidable.
He didn’t tell Lily any of this, of course. James had asked Lily out but she had turned him down. And that was it. He respected her decision. But that didn’t mean he could fall out of love. Because he was sure that it was love that he felt for Lily. True love or soulmates or whatever you want to call it. But this was it. This was the real deal. The only trouble was that it was only real for James.
It was nearly eleven at night when James finally asked Sirius about his invitation. He had given up waiting for either him or Lily to approach him and decided to just ask Sirius.
“I mean, I know we share a room but don’t you think you’ve waited a little too long?” James said. “Marlene got her invitation at lunch.”
“Um, Jamie, I don’t know how to break this to you but…” Sirius started, “you weren’t invited.”
“What?” James said. “But I have spectacular hair!”
“Just… come to the auditions tomorrow if it means so much to you, ok mate?” James merely shrugs.
The next day James still hasn’t decided if he wants to audition. On one hand, he knows he’ll pass the audition because, well, have you seen his hair? But on the other hand, he doesn’t want to give Sirius the satisfaction of knowing that James actually cares about his hair. Because he was sure that Sirius didn’t invite him on purpose. What other reason could there be? It certainly wasn’t because of James’ hair. That he was certain of.
It’s during lunch that James makes up his mind, after discovering that both Mary and Dorcas auditioned.
“They score you out of ten,” Mary explained to him. “I got a 7 but they said that isn’t a high enough score.”
“Don’t worry about it, Mary, you have beautiful hair,” James reassured her. Mary smiles at him like he’s a little kid.
“Thank you, James. I don’t really care, to be honest; I was just curious to see what they’re doing,” she says shrugging. “What did you get, Dorcas?”
“I got a nine,” Dorcas said.
“Good on you,” James says, clapping her on the back.
“Thanks, James,” Dorcas said laughing. “Are you going to audition?”
“Probably,” James said, shrugging. He tries to look nonchalant but he’s determined to go now.
When James finds the classroom that the audition is being held in, he knocks on the door.
“Come in,” says Lily’s voice. She and Sirus sitting behind a desk with quills and parchment. James enters and stands in front of their desk.
“Ok so how does this work?” he asks. “Do you just score me now or…?”
“Potter, you get a two out of ten,” Lily says, writing something down on a piece of paper. “Not nearly close enough to join. You’re dismissed.”
“What?! How? I have the best hair out of all of you!”
“Because Potter, your hair is messy and sticks up in odd places and it looks like you’ve never bothered to run a comb through it in your life,” Lily says.
“Sorry mate, she’s right,” Sirius said. He’s got a hand over his mouth but it’s clear he’s laughing.
“Wha— I… fine,” James grumbles. He points a certain finger in their direction and stalks out of the room, outraged.
---------
“Remus!” Remus turns around at the sound of his name and sees James walking towards him.
“Oh, hey James,” Remus says.
“Hi, Moony, my new best friend,” James says, swinging an arm around him. Remus looks at him suspiciously.
“What did Sirius do?” he asks.
“What makes you think Sirius did anything? Can’t a guy decide that no longer want a… a… annoying person as their best friend?”
“Really? Annoying person? That’s the best you can do?” Remus says, rolling his eyes.
“Give me a break, I’m not used to actually insulting Sirius,” James muttered.
“So what did he do?” Remus asks again.
“Did you hear about his and Lily’s Society for fabulous hair?”
“Oh yeah,” Remus said, laughing. “Oh. Did you not pass the audition?”
“It’s so unfair!” James bursts out. “I mean you and I have perfectly good hair.”
“Um, James…. I was, um, I was actually invited,” Remus mumbled.
“They invited YOU?!?!?!” James exclaims. Remus holds back laughter and nods. Benefits of fucking one of the founders of the society, I guess, Remus thinks. He nearly says it out loud but stops himself. James goes on to ramble about his hair but Remus isn’t really listening anymore. He’s thinking about Sirius (no surprises there).
If Remus is being honest with himself, he’s tired of sneaking around. He loves Sirius. He loves Sirius more than anyone. And he wants people to know it. He’s not saying they should go around broadcasting their relationship but being able to hold hands in public or make jokes (such as these) around their friends would be nice.
His whole life Remus had done nothing but hide his identity. When his friends found out he was a werewolf it was an enormous weight lifted off his chest. When he told his friends he was gay, not only were they all incredibly supportive, but it had given Sirius the courage to come out to Remus as well. That was how they got together in the first place.
Neither he nor Sirius had been ready to share their relationship with the rest of their friends back then. But Remus was ready now. But he didn’t want to push Sirius into anything. Sirius wasn’t out to their friends and if his family ever found out the consequences could be dire, even though Sirius no longer lived in Grimmauld Place. And Remus wouldn’t risk Sirius’ safety for anything. When Sirius was ready he would tell him. And Remus would wait. He’ll wait as long as it takes. He’d wait forever. Because nothing can compare, nothing can even come close, to the all-consuming happiness that Remus feels when he’s with Sirius. And he wouldn’t give that feeling up for the world.
---------
But Sirius was becoming tired of being closeted too. He used to be so afraid of leaving the closet. He felt the fear in his bones; it would make him shiver. It had been a safe place for him. Safer to hide his feelings, to bury them, than to risk his family finding out. Or worse, his friends finding out and hating him. But now the closet felt small and suffocating. Sirius was tired of hiding who he was. He was tired of it. When he was with his family he wore a mask of confidence and rebelliousness to protect himself. But when he was with his friends he had always been himself. Unapologetically himself. Keeping a secret this big from his friends, especially from James, felt weird and unnatural. But the threat of his family hung over his head like a vulture, waiting for the perfect excuse to strike, not only at him but at the Potters now too. And Sirius was afraid that this would be just the excuse they were waiting for.
---------
Lily and Sirius kept up the society for a couple of days before deciding that they had dragged it on long enough. They told the few people who had joined that they had been playing a prank on someone and thanked them for playing a vital part in it but it was over now.
Later that night, Lily was in the library working on her Charms essay with her friends, although they were doing more talking than working.
“Ugh, Lily, I can’t do this,” Marlene complained. “Please help me.”
“I can’t, Marls, I’m sorry,” Lily said, checking her watch. “I have prefect rounds soon.”
“You mean Head Girl rounds,” Alice corrected.
“Eh, it’s the same thing,” Lily said. “They’re equally boring.”
“Really? Even when you get to spend all that quality time with James Potter,” Dorcas said, winking at her.
“Shut up,” Lily said, blushing.
“Speaking of spending quality time with your crush—” Mary started.
“He is not my crush!” Lily insisted.
“You don’t really think we believe you, do you Lils?” Alice asked. Lily sighed in defeat.
“Fine,” she said. “I like him and I would also like to not make a big deal of it. You were saying, Mary?”
“I was just going to ask where Remus is,” she said. “He could help us with this essay if he wasn’t… preoccupied.”
“Yeah, he and Sirius disappeared after dinner,” Marlene said, smirking.
“Yeah, they’re not fooling anyone any more than you are Lily,” Dorcas said.
“Hey, I’m not that bad!” Lily insisted. “Am I?”
“Not quite,” Dorcas said, laughing.
“But that’s not saying much, Lils,” Marlene said.
“Ugh, now I really have to go,” Lily said. “But I can check your essay later if you want me to Marlene.”
“Lily, you’re an angel. I love you. Seriously, thank you so so much,” Marlene said, hugging Lily.
“Of course,” Lily said, laughing. “See you guys later.”
She hurried back to the Gryffindor common room to put her books away and find James. The first sign that something was wrong was that James wasn’t waiting to greet her at the entrance. Every day without fail, James would wait for Lily to be ready for their rounds, unable to hide his excitement. But today she finds him sitting alone in the common room, biting his nail and doodling on a piece of parchment while staring into the fire, seemingly absent-mindedly but Lily can that something is bothering him.
“Ah Potter, don’t be so upset about the hair thing, ok?” she says, coming up from behind him and ruffling his hair flirtatiously before she sits on the couch beside him. “It’s nothing personal. Well, actually no, it’s very personal but it’s all just a joke, right? It’s over now anyway. We called it off.”
“What?” he asks, looking at her. “Oh, yeah. I mean, no that's not why… you know what never mind.”
“What is it?” she asks.
“It doesn't matter,” James replies.
“Potter, something is obviously bothering you. If it didn’t matter you wouldn’t be thinking about it. What's the matter?”
“Fine,” James says. “It’s… I’m worried about Sirius.”
“Sirius?” Lily asks. She was confused. Sirius seemed fine to her. Happier, in fact, than he had been all of last year. Happier than he had been in a long time. She had thought that this was because he had left his family and moved in with James over the summer. But perhaps James had seen something that she hadn’t. “What about him? He seems fine, doesn’t he?”
“He seems fine,” James says. “But he keeps sneaking around at night and disappearing during the day—”
“Isn’t that custom for you two?” she asks, smirking.
“Yeah for us. But now he’s going alone. And every time I ask him about it he has the worst cover-up stories. I mean, there’s only so many times you can go to the bathroom in one day. I’m worried that he’s… I don’t know. He’s never done this before. I don’t want him to do something stupid and get himself hurt.”
“When you say sneaking around and disappearing… do you mean when he goes with Remus?” Lily asks, slowly.
“What?” James asks. “I mean, I never really thought about that. I just always figured Remus was going to the library to study or going somewhere with you or Mary or Alice. Like he does all the time. I didn’t think what they were doing was connected. Do you?”
“Um, Potter,” Lily says, starting to laugh, “you are really the most oblivious shit on the planet, aren’t you?”
“I am not!” James insists. Then after a moment, “what do you mean?” Lily rolls her eyes.
“I can’t believe I actually have to tell you this,” she says, pinching the bridge of her nose. “Remus and Sirius are dating.”
“What?” James says. Then after comprehending the words that Lily just said, he jumps up to his feet. “WHAT?” Lily starts laughing.
“How the fuck did you not realise that?”
“No way,” James said. “No fucking way. Sirius isn’t even gay, Evans.” Lily just laughs harder.
“Oh god, you really are stupid,” she says. “Fine, if you don’t believe me, go upstairs to your dorm right now, quietly, and see what Remus and Sirius are doing. If they aren’t making out, I will give you five sickles. If they are, you have to give me five sickles. Deal?”
“Deal. You’re delusional, Evans.” So they shake on it and James goes upstairs.
---------
The door is locked. James casts Alohomora non-verbally and creaks the door open. And there they are. Locked in a kiss, Sirius pressed up against the wall, his shirt hanging open, Remus’ jumper on the floor. James stands there, his mouth hanging open at the sight of his two best friends making out. Suddenly they break apart.
“James,” Sirius says, suddenly and Remus whips around to face James as well.
“Holy shit,” James says. “Holy shit. Um.”
“Oh god. James, we’re so, so sorry,” Remus said. “We didn’t mean for you to find out this way.”
“No, don’t be,” James said. “I’m sorry I— Sirius, are you ok?” Sirius’ whole body was shaking and his face was as white as a sheet.
“Sirius?” Remus said, turning towards him. Sirius just shook his head and bit his lip, hands trembling uncontrollably. “Come here, love,” Remus whispered. “Sit down. It’s going to be fine. I promise everything is going to be fine. Just breathe, Sirius.” James hurried towards Sirius and hugged him tightly.
“Sirius,” he said, pulling back and looking him dead in the eye, “it’s ok. I promise you, I don’t care. I don’t care if you like guys or girls or both or neither. I don’t care. You’re still my best friend. You’re still my brother. You’re still you.” Sirius nodded and he seemed to calm down a little. He closed his eyes for a moment.
“Try to breathe,” Remus said, softly. He was holding Sirius’ hand, tracing slow comforting circles in his palm. James smiled at their joined hands.
“So,” he said, as Sirius started to calm down. “You two are dating?” Sirius nodded and Remus said a quiet, “yeah.”
“So that means you’re gay too?” James added to Sirius. “Or bi? Or something else?”
“I… um,” Sirius started hyperventilating again.
“It’s ok,” James said quickly. “You don’t have to tell me anything.”
“No, no, it’s fine, I just…” Sirius closed his and took a deep breath. “I’m pansexual.” James was silent.
“I–I don’t really know—”
“Yeah, I figured you wouldn’t know,” Sirius said, nodding. “It’s ok, though, I don’t mind explaining. Basically, it means I like people of all genders. Like… I like them for who they are regardless of gender. If that makes sense.”
“Yeah,” James said. “Thanks for telling me, Pads. And I’m really sorry that I… y’know, walked in on you and freaked you out.”
“It’s fine,” Sirius said. “We meant to tell you anyway, we just…” He glanced at Remus. James nodded.
“You–you really don’t mind this?” Remus asked, biting his lip.
“Of course not,” James said. “I love you guys. You’re my best friends and I want you to be happy. And if being together makes you happy then I’m happy for you— wait, fuck!”
“What?” they asked at the same time, looking alarmed.
“No, no, it’s no big deal. Just now I owe Evans five sickles.”
“What?” said Remus. “You were betting on… what?”
“I told her that I was worried about you guys because you kept sneaking around and disappearing and she said that you’re together but I didn’t believe her. So yeah, she bet me five sickles that you two are dating.”
“Damn, I thought we were good at sneaking around,” Sirius said, shaking his head and laughing.
“You were,” James said, “but Evans is… she knows everything.” A dreamy look came across his face and Remus and Sirius exchanged a smirk.
“Proud of you, mate,” James said, snapping out of his daze and clapping Sirius on the shoulder. “You too, Rem.”
“Thank you, James,” Sirius says, hugging him, “for… you know. Being so supportive. It really means the world to me.”
“No, you shouldn’t be thanking me,” James says, hugging him back. “I should be thanking you for sharing it with me. See, that’s the problem with our world. Well, one of the many problems but those are to fix another time. Moony, come here, it’s group hug time.” Remus rolled his eyes but smiled as he joined the hug.
“Okay, um, I’ll… let you get back to… you know,” James said, gesturing towards the bed. Remus goes redder than James has ever seen but Sirius grins. James leaves the dorm and goes back to the common room, sitting down next to Lily, who is holding out her hand expectantly. James high-fives her and she rolls her eyes and smiles slightly. He fishes five sickles out of his pocket and hands them to her. She cackles.
“I told you so,” she says.
“Yeah, yeah, you’re always right and I’m oblivious and dumb.”
“Come on, Potter,” she says. “Time to patrol the corridors.”
“Ugh, do we have to?” he asks, pouting.
“Yes, Potter we have to. Stop complaining, I’ve been doing this since fifth year. And my partner got replaced with an annoying little shit so—”
“Rude!” James said.
“But true,” Lily said laughing.
“Ever heard of a white lie, Evans?” James says, smiling and standing up.
---------
They cover half the castle while making jokes and laughing, not really paying attention to whether or not students were out of bed or not until Lily decides she has to bring it up.
“Potter, what’s up?” she says.
“What?”
“What’s bothering you?”
“Nothing. It doesn’t matter,” he said, shaking his head.
“Come on,” Lily said, poking him in the side. “I helped you with the last thing, didn’t I? You can tell me.”
“Ok. It’s just… when I walked into the dorm they were kissing. And then Sirius saw me and he completely freaked out. Like he really thought that I wouldn’t be ok with it. He really thought I would hate him or something. And… I don’t know. I mean, after everything he still doesn’t trust me?”
“James…”
“It’s stupid, I know. This isn’t even about me. And I’m not trying to make it about me, I swear. I just… I don’t want Sirius to feel like he can’t tell me stuff. He’s my best friend. I tell him everything and I want him to feel like he can do the same with me. I don’t want him to keep secrets from me because he’s afraid that I’ll hate him because of it.”
“Ok, first of all, it’s not stupid at all. I get what you’re saying. But you have to understand where Sirius is coming from, too. It’s not that he doesn’t trust you. He would trust you with his life, James. He does. But usually, it’s the people we love and trust the most that it’s hardest to come out to. Because we think they’ll accept us but there’s always the chance that they won’t, you know? And if they don’t, how do you keep going from there? It’s taking a big risk. Sirius just wasn’t ready to risk his friendship with you. It means too much to him. Trust me, James, it was the same for me when I came out as bi. It’s not that he doesn’t trust you. It’s that he loves you too much to be ready to risk it.” James’ eyes were watering. He turned away so Lily wouldn’t see as he blinked them away.
“You really think so?” he asks quietly.
“Yeah,” she said. “But you can ask him if you want. Ask him if you can talk about it.” James nodded.
“Thanks, Evans.”
“Any time, Potter.”
“You called me James before.”
“So what if I did?”
“You never call me James.”
“I know,” she says. “Don’t get used to it.” Then after a moment, she adds, “I still can’t believe you didn’t know they were dating. I mean you literally spend all of your time together, you share a fucking room with them for Christ’s sake.”
“How did you know?” James asks. “Did they tell you?”
“God no,” Lily says, shaking her head. “You really think they would tell me and not you?
“I suppose not,” he replies. “How did you know then?”
“Well Potter, see I have these things in my head called eyes that I use to see. And then the things that I see go to my brain, where I string two and two together. Although, I suppose you wouldn’t know about that seeing as you don’t have a brain.”
“Oh, very funny,” James says, rolling his eyes. “Really witty. Your jokes are worse than Sirius’ puns.”
“Now that’s just mean.” And they both laugh. Lily has to bite her lip to keep from sighing. Ugh, his laugh is just too cute! she thinks. God, this is so stupid! Lily knows that James likes her. She knows that. And she likes him too. So what’s holding her back? She thinks for a moment and then the answer comes to her. Nothing. In this moment in time, right now, nothing is holding Lily back. She stops walking.
“Evans?” James asks, stopping as well. “Why’d you stop? Is everything ok? ” She leans forward slowly, not breaking eye contact with James. Lily waits until she sees the realisation grow in his eyes as he realises what’s about to happen and then she kisses him. Her hands find the back of his neck and she pulls him closer as she feels his hands in her hair. And then his hands are on her cheeks but only for a moment before she feels him pull away; he’s looking her dead in the eyes.
“Is this another joke?” he asks. “Because if it is it’s not funny.” Lily shakes her head quickly.
“No, it’s not a joke,” she says. “I swear, it’s not a joke.”
“Really?” he asks, his hazel eyes lighting up.
“Really,” she replies, smiling warmly. “I just really wanted to kiss you because… I like you, Potter.”
“Is this a dream? I mean, it’s gotta be a dream, right? Because there’s no way you just—” Lily laughs.
“No, Potter, it’s not a dream,” she said. “I really do like you and we really just kissed.”
“I— I… wow,” James said. “I mean, you know I like you, Evans, I’ve liked you forever. I just never thought I’d be lucky enough for you to like me. I mean…” James sighs and cups Lily’s face with his hands. “I love you, Lily. I mean, you probably already knew that but… I wanted to say it anyway.” Lily smiles warmth spreading from her cheeks to the tips of her fingers.
“I love you too, James,” she said, moving her body into his.
“Can I kiss you?” he asks.
“Yes,” Lily nods. And he does. Lily’s heart raced in her chest as James’ lips connect with hers and she tangles her fingers in his fabulous hair.
a/n: the part where James says that he should be thanking Sirius for coming out to him and not the other way around is based on my friend’s reaction when i told her that i’m bi. so yeah she deserves credit for that cause she’s the best
also regarding the part where sirius explains pansexuality to james,, please know that i am not pan and the explanation is something that i found on the internet. obviously, every pan person has a different experience but i hope i portrayed this fairly. if something doesn’t sound quite right to you please let me know because i dont want to spread a wrong image of pansexuality! thanks

I love your babysitting jules fic and the tell me how you know your boyfriend won't cheat on you fic. I was thinking, like remus and sirius have a day off and spend it with jules, and sirius goes somewhere and comes back to find remus and jules sleeping on the flour and they look similar and he just smiles.
Idk, hope this makes sense, I love all your fics.
It totally makes sense and it’s super cute! Thanks for such a wonderful suggestion <3 This is Part 4 of Adventures in Babysitting (1 2 3)
Sweater Weather credit goes to @lumosinlove!
As much as Sirius loved hockey, he had to admit break days were his favorite part of the week. Most weekends, he and Remus would roll out of bed sometime around eleven, have lunch, go for a walk, and then turn into total couch potatoes if they didn’t have anything important to do.
But they had a kid now, so that plan had to change.
They managed to stay in bed until nine before soft rustling sounds began in Jules’ room—Remus’ aggressive cuddling delayed them for a bit longer, which Sirius did not have any complaints about, but eventually they knew it was time to move.
“Dinner’s at six, right?” Sirius asked as he washed his face while Remus tracked down a t-shirt. Shirtless mornings were another tragic sacrifice while Jules was around.
“Yep. Dumo said we could get there at five-thirty, though. Apparently, Katie’s been dying to see Jules again.” Remus kissed the back of his shoulder as he reached for a toothbrush. “I was thinking we could just let him choose what we do today.”
“Makes it a lot easier on us.”
“And it makes it extra special for him,” Remus mumbled around a mouthful of toothpaste. “We still get veto power, though.”
“That’s probably for the best.”
Jules was still in his bedroom when they went downstairs and for a fleeting moment, Sirius wondered if they had woken up early for nothing. “He’ll be down soon,” Remus said as if he could read his mind, pressing two coffee cups into Sirius’ hands. “All those cool knickknacks in the guest room will keep him distracted for a bit.”
Sure enough, excited footsteps followed a sharp gasp less than ten minutes later. Remus smiled over the rim of his coffee cup and walked over to the pantry to pull out the pancake mix. “Morning—"
“Is it true you won the regional All-Stars when you were in high school?” Jules blurted as he skidded into the kitchen and shoved a small trophy into Sirius’ hands, panting like he had run a mile.
Sirius squinted down at the little figurine; in all honesty, he had forgotten he even had it. “Where did you find this?”
“In the nightstand. Is it true?”
“Uh, yeah, it is.” He set it on the counter with their other random items. “Thanks for finding it, bud.”
Jules glowed under his approval and Remus bit his lip to stifle laughter. “Re, can we have chocolate pancakes?”
“We don’t have any chocolate chips, sorry,” Remus said as he mixed the batter. Liar. Sirius shot him a look, and he stuck out his tongue playfully behind Jules’ back. “We’ve got some fun news, though.”
“What?”
“There’s no practice today and you get to decide what we do.”
Jules’ jaw dropped. “Really?”
“Mhmm.”
“Awesome! Mom and Dad never want to see the cool stuff because they’re busy with museums and games and friends but there are so many places I wanna go,” Jules said in one rushing breath. Sirius blinked in shock, but Remus seemed unfazed as he handed the spatula over. “Thanks!”
“Sure thing.”
“Sirius, what are your favorite places?” Jules turned to him, still licking the spatula like his life depended on it.
Sirius took a moment to think and suppress a smile. “I like the roller rink, and the aquarium, and the park.”
“We already went to the park.”
“We can go again if you want,” he laughed. “You made friends, right?”
“Yeah, but I probably won’t see them again.” Oh, to have a child’s nonchalance when it comes to friends. “The aquarium sounds really neat!”
“It’s pretty cool,” Remus agreed as he ladled out batter into the pan. “They put in a new exhibit recently.”
“Sweet! Can we go now?”
“Don’t you want pancakes?” Sirius asked. “I know I do.”
Jules nodded rapidly. “I do, too. Can I ride on your shoulders?”
“Now?”
“At the aquarium.”
“Yeah, sure.”
“How tall are you?”
Sirius paused, then gave him a conspiratorial look. “Eleven feet tall.”
Remus burst out laughing and nearly burned himself on the pan; Jules rolled his eyes. “Come on. I’m ten, that doesn’t work on me anymore.”
“Sorry, sorry.” Sirius took a sip of coffee. “I’m 191 centimeters tall.”
“Huh?”
“Almost two meters.”
Jules looked over to Remus, who shook his head with a smile. “He’s six foot three, Jules, and he’s messing with you by being fancy and Canadian.”
“How tall are you?” Jules asked, folding his knees under himself to reach the butter with his fork as Remus passed him a plate of pancakes.
Remus sighed. “Five foot eleven and a half.”
“Ha! Short.”
“Shut up, you’re still an Oompa Loompa.”
“I’m more than a foot taller than Oompa Loopmas,” Jules said haughtily, shoveling pancake into his mouth. “I looked it up the last time you called me that.”
“Look at you go! Gold star!”
Sirius cheeks were starting to hurt from holding down his laughter and Remus winked as he passed another plate over. “Thanks, love.”
“Why do couples have nicknames?” Jules asked. “I always thought it was a little weird. Mom and Dad have actual names, but they never really use them. It’s always honey, darling, other sappy stuff.”
Remus shrugged as he sat down with them. “Why do you call me Re? That’s not my full name.”
Jules thought for a second. “Partly because ‘Remus’ sounds like a stuffy old museum name.”
“Oh, and ‘Julian’ doesn’t?” Remus teased. “Usually, people give nicknames because they care about each other. Couples just have an extra level to that.”
“I don’t really like it when people call me by my full name, either,” Sirius added.
Jules frowned. “But people call you by your first name all the time.”
“They do. But my friends usually don’t. There’s Cap, Padfoot, whatever your brother comes up with that day…”
“I call you Sirius.”
“I don’t mind as much when you say it.” Because you’re adorable and I would literally do anything for you. “You can call me whatever you want.”
Jules seemed satisfied by that answer and turned back to his pancakes; Sirius caught Remus quickly looking away when he glanced back up and smiled, giving him a quick nudge with his foot. Baby, Remus mouthed with a slight smirk. Sirius rolled his eyes.
-------------------------------------
The aquarium was busy, but it was a weekend, after all. They only had to wait in line for ten minutes; during that time, Jules made three new friends and every single one of the parents thought he was their son. Even the ticket salesman offered them a family discount that Remus politely declined.
But…it wasn’t a bad thought. Sirius let it ruminate in the back of his mind as he helped Jules onto his shoulders and Remus grabbed a map from the kiosk for when they inevitably got turned around. Definitely not this year, or the next, but someday Sirius did want to say ‘yes’ to the parents and kids discount, though he couldn’t place his finger on why.
And then they reached the whale exhibit. A huge humpback skeleton hung from the ceiling in a smooth curve, its mouth open to reveal perfectly preserved baleen. Jules reached up and trailed his fingers through the space below its massive ribcage—he was too short to touch it still, but the pure awe on his face took Sirius’ breath away more than any deep-sea creature could.
“Baby, can you get a picture of us by the glass?” Remus asked. Ahead of them, a huge tank stretched into a tunnel that lead to the tropical exhibit; Sirius nodded and bent to let Jules down.
“Race you there!” he called, running across the well-worn blue carpet at full tilt. Remus followed him with a laugh and caught him just before they reached the glass, swinging him off his feet by the armpits and turning to face Sirius.
His throat tightened a bit as he took his phone out for the picture. They beamed at him with almost-identical smiles, right down to the dimples. That. That right there, he thought. That’s what I want. “Got it.”
“Awesome, your turn.” Remus put Jules down and began walking over, but an older man motioned to Sirius just before he put his phone away.
“Excuse me, would you like me to get a picture of all three of you?” he asked. A little girl—his granddaughter, perhaps—watched them shyly from behind his legs.
“Oh. Yes, thank you.” Sirius handed him his cell phone and went over to the glass, wrapping one arm around Remus’ waist and draping the other over Jules’ shoulder. They smiled, backlit with blues and greens and aquamarine.
“Alright, I took a few.” The man gave Sirius’ phone back and patted him on the arm as the little girl tugged his sleeve. “You have a beautiful family. Have a good day!”
Sirius didn’t fully snap out of his daze until they were in the tropical tunnel, where fish in colors he could never dream of darted back and forth and fascinated Jules. The aquarium used to be his favorite place in Gryffindor; now, it was probably his favorite place in the world.
Remus led them through a series of corridors, pausing every now and then when Jules scampered toward the next tank, though he seemed to have something on his mind. When Sirius shot him a questioning look, he kissed his cheek and held his hand instead of answering. They wandered past the sting rays, the turtles, and the sharks, until Sirius recognized the multicolored lights from the next room over and stopped in his tracks. “No.”
Remus grinned. “Yeah.”
Jules looked between them in clear confusion. “What?”
“I gotta show you something, c’mere.” Sirius crouched down and helped him back onto his shoulders, then ducked into the adjacent exhibit. Immediately, he heard Jules gasp as jellyfish surrounded them.
“Woah.”
“Isn’t it cool?” His smile was staring to hurt his cheeks. “Here, this in my favorite part.”
Sirius walked to the twelve-foot arch near the middle of the room and stood beneath it, basking in the warmth of the bright lights below as jellyfish of a billion sizes floated overhead. He sighed and leaned his head back slightly to get a better look.
Jules stretched his arms up, trying to touch the glass. “Wow,” he breathed.
When Sirius looked back down, he saw Remus lowering his phone with a small smile. “Had to get a good one,” he said as he stepped under the arch with them and leaned into Sirius’ side. Jules reached down and flipped his baseball cap backwards. “Thanks, buddy.”
“I’ve been waiting to do that for ages.”
“Good to know,” Remus laughed. “Ready to move on?”
“Just a second,” Sirius said, pulling Remus’ arm around his waist. “Just a bit longer. We’ve got nowhere to be but here.”
-----------------------------------------
They did, in fact, have somewhere to be, though Sirius didn’t remember that until 3:30 pm. He also remembered that they were supposed to bring dessert that night and unless Remus wanted to out himself as a liar by busting out the chocolate chips in the cupboard, they needed a plan B.
The grocery store was blessedly empty when he arrived, which meant he could use self-checkout for the two containers of cookies he bought—thank god. As much fun as the aquarium was, there were so many people, and they were everywhere.
I need a nap, he thought as he walked back out to the car and watched his breath steam in the December air. And, like, half an hour by myself to listen to music.
The first thing he noticed was that the house was quiet. Hattie didn’t bark when he got out of the car, or when he unlocked the front door, or called out a hesitant “hello?” while he took his shoes off. Nothing seemed amiss, other than the fact that Jules had been bouncing off the walls when he left.
The living room held the answers to all his questions. Hattie was passed out on the couch, splayed with her belly to the ceiling. Jules and Remus were asleep on the carpet with The Fellowship of the Ring between them; clearly, they had been mid-chapter when they dozed off. Sirius set the cookies on the counter and carefully slid the book out of Remus’ hands, setting it on the coffee table before pulling the thick knitted blanket off the couch.
Hattie grumbled at him and cracked an eye open. “Shhh,” he said softly, kissing her forehead before laying the blanket over the other two. They looked so alike—their hair was nearly the same shade, and Jules’ jaw was only slightly narrower than Remus’. Sirius bet that in ten years, it would be hard to tell them apart in photos.
He crept upstairs and set a timer for 4:30. James had recommended a new band ten minutes before midnight, and Sirius figured he should at least give it a shot if it was so important. He grabbed his headphones, pressed play, and let out a deep breath as he sank back into the pillows.
Half an hour went by too fast, and before he knew it the alarm was ringing instead of the steady bass of the new song. He squinted at the clock, praying it would be wrong, and sighed when he saw that technology had won out once again.
Remus and Jules were still asleep on the floor, though they had cuddled closer at some point and the blanket nearly covered Jules entirely. Sirius crouched down next to Remus and brushed his hair off his forehead before gently shaking his shoulder. “Re. Sweetheart, it’s time to get up.”
“No,” Remus murmured.
“Come on, mon loup, dinner’s in an hour.”
“ ‘m tired. C’mere.”
“I would love to, but we promised Dumo we’d be there.”
“Sirius?” Jules blinked up at him sleepily.
“Hey, buddy.”
“We hafta get up?”
“Don’t listen to him,” Remus said without opening his eyes.
“Love you, too,” Sirius laughed quietly. “I got cookies.”
“Cookies?” Jules sat up fully at that and rubbed his eyes; Remus groaned and rolled onto his back.
“Technically, they’re for after dinner, but an exception can be made.”
Remus stared at him for a moment, then sighed and held his hands up as Jules hurried into the kitchen. “Alright, fine.”
Sirius pulled him to his feet and kissed his forehead. “We’ve got about forty-five minutes before we need to head out, okay?”
“So we could’ve napped for thirty more.”
“You could, but then you’d both be cranky.” Sirius leaned back to look into the kitchen. “Just one, Jules! Save some for Katie and the others!”
There was a beat of silence, then a heavy sigh. “Okay.”
“Thank you.”
Remus wrapped his arms around Sirius’ waist and leaned his forehead against his chest, nuzzling into his sweatshirt. “You’re so soft. And warm.”
“It’s a gift.”
“Perfect place to take a nap.”
“Oh, no you don’t.” Sirius carefully detached Remus’ grip and he exhaled slowly.
“Thank you for picking up cookies, baby. Was there anything else we needed to bring?”
“Just ourselves.” He placed another kiss to his cheek and Remus stretched his arms over his head.
“Oof. Okay. I’ll go get a different shirt on and wrangle the kid if you want to find a plate to pretend the cookies are ours.”
“You read my mind,” Sirius said, earning himself a proper kiss before Remus turned and headed into the kitchen.
---------------------------------------------
They pulled into Dumo’s driveway at 5:40, which wasn’t bad, all things considered. Jules and Katie disappeared in a hurricane of excited rambling as soon as the door opened and Dumo burst out laughing the second he saw them. “Welcome to parenthood,” he said, pulling them each in for a hug. “How are you liking your free trial?”
“I’ve never been more exhausted in my life.” Remus shook his head as he took his coat off. “But I love it, for some reason.”
“That sums it up.” Celeste stood on her tiptoes to kiss each of Sirius’ cheeks. “Did you bring dessert?” He wordlessly held the plate out and she raised an eyebrow. “You remembered at…4 pm.”
“3:30.”
“You’re getting better, mon fils. Marc, Adele, come set the table!” Upstairs, two different sets of footsteps tumbled over each other as they came running down the stairs; both crashed into Sirius for hugs, just like they had when he first moved in.
“Bonjour,” he laughed, squeezing them tight and planting kisses to the tops of their heads. “I hope Regulus hasn’t been driving you too crazy.”
“I think he’s still asleep,” Adele said as she stepped back. Celeste shooed them both toward the dining room as Sirius raised his eyebrows.
“Un moment, s’il vous plait.” Dumo and Remus wandered off to supervise the kids while Sirius headed for the basement door. Regulus was nearly twenty years old—it wasn’t like he needed those blankets at six in the evening, anyway, and Sirius was only too happy to give him a rousing wake-up call. It was his right as an older brother.

You Said What To Your Teacher? | Send Me A Prompt💜
.-
“Do you remember when we were nine and I gave you my last sparkler because Regulus was crying that he wanted your purple smoke bomb and I was left with only my shitty poppers to throw when the ball dropped on New Year’s.”
Sub half way to his mouth and mobile lodged between his shoulder and ear, Sirius gently sets down his sandwich and dabs off the splatter of mayonnaise on his cupids bow as he tries to parse out what in bloody hell his best friend is blabbering on about.
“Oh, hi, Jem. Yeah I’m doing well, mate, thanks for asking. Works the typical grind but I think Minnie is about to give me that promotion any day now.”
“It’s a simple yes, or no answer, arse.” James retorts haughtily, sounding somehow frenzied and buoyant all at once.
“Pardon me, I thought we would just have a normal conversation like typical blokes,” Sirius sniffs, tilting back on his chair and clicking around on his desktop to look at the revised dimensions of a new building his firm was employed to begin constructing in south London. “Now remind me, my sweet. Was this the same New Year’s that you stuffed that stink bomb in the back of my shirt after stomping on it so it’d explode on me?”
“That is neither here, nor there.”
“I still feel the debris on my poor back on especially rough days.”
“You’re a twat.”
“And you’re acting dodgy.”
“I need a favor, and I thought a transactional proposition would be the sort of thing that you corporate types would appreciate.” James jabs, laughter in his words. Sirius just hopes he could picture the middle finger he’s emulating through the line.
“Just because you’ve completed residency doesn’t make you a special snowflake, you do realize this, correct?” Sirius tells him, already shooting a message to Minerva and his team that he’ll be jetting off a bit earlier so he could do whatever it is that James needs.
“Slander! It makes me the most special snowflake, Black. And it eats you up inside.” James retorts, moving away from the receiver to yell something towards one of his interns about a patient or the other.
“Whatever helps you sleep at night, gorgeous. Now are you going to ever tell me what it is you need from me, or keep trying to get in my trousers, because listen either option is aces on my end. I’ll just add it to the document I send Lily every week about how I’m so obviously your dream partner.”
“It always just comes back to your burning jealousy that I chose her over you, doesn’t it?” James pretends to sigh forlornly. “Listen, my love. It’s not my fault that some birds are just born prettier than others.”
“Psha, I’m the prettiest fucker you know, Potter.”
“It’s the attitude for me, just absolutely no decorum about you.”
“Is this about that snag with me teaching Haz how to properly curse at a United fan?” Sirius asks, moving to collect his satchel and jacket. “Because I stand by that. We’re a fucking Arsenal family, damn it.”
“We were at brunch when he called that poor woman a weasel faced toad, Sirius.”
“Good man,” Sirius insists, waving goodbye to the secretary who always gives him the most devoted heart eyes.
“Well, speaking of the sprog. I’m stuck here with a new bout of paperwork to get someone transported to us from a hospital in the states, and Lily’s stuck in the maternity ward till at least nine.”
“Ooo, a bit of God father/God son time then??”
“With great power, comes great responsibility,” James says gravely.
“What have I told you about your shitty nerd references and how they give me a rash.”
“Spider-man isn’t simply for nerds you absolute pleb! There’s been three bloody franchisements for him in the past two decades!”
“Imma let Harry eat ice cream for dessert, I reckon.”
“Then you’ll have Lily to answer to,” James warns, still seething from the jibe. “And if you’re taking the bike, can you at least park a block away. This new school we’ve enrolled him into this year is well and proper, and I’d not want them to think that our son’s God father is some sort of ne’er-do-well.”
“You put respect on Rosco’s name, or so help me!”
“Right, right, the only constant love in your life.”
“She’s the only one who understands me.”
“ Whatever, just try and behave decently, will you?”
“Hah, and why wouldn’t I?” Sirius asks as he tosses his helmet into the air, patting Rosco in apology for James’s impertinence.
“Hmm, we’ll see, won’t we.” James says in an irritatingly ominous tone before clicking off the line.
.-
There are a lot of reasons why Sirius could hate James. He could hate him for forcing Sirius to join him on his morning runs, or hate him for his intensely perky attitude about every sodding thing. Hell he could probably hate him for his complete disregard of the mad sport that is American football. But all that withstanding, Sirius reasons that for today he’ll hate him for his cryptic fucking warning and how he knew this would happen and is probably cackling over it as he fills out a new set of discharge papers.
That absolute, unceasing, weasel faced, toad.
The ‘this’ that Sirius is referring to of course is the fact that Sirius is left dumbstruck and gawping as he strolls leisurely into Harry’s third year class, eyes roaming over the small cluster of children who had stayed after hours for extra tutoring and who are now just lounging around, waiting for a guardian to come and pick them up. But instead of first spotting the dark head that belongs to his God son, Sirius’s gaze focusses on a man… A very fit, very golden, very beautiful man. A man that’s all lithe limbs and honey eyes, and a small, quietly encouraging smile as he kneels down to chat with a blonde girl who’s got on a blue tutu and rainbow poncho.
“Fuck you James Potter,” Sirius hisses lowly to himself as he tries to collect his wits about him, and remind himself that flirting with his God son’s actual, fucking professor is not a thing that is approved of.
“Uncle Pads!”
Sirius starts, feeling suddenly grounded as Harry bounds towards him and hugs his torso with a tight squeeze. “Hiya Prongslet,” he says, grinning indulgently as he ruffles a hand through Harry’s wild mop of curls.
“Am I coming to yours then?”
“If you’ll have me,” Sirius winks, tapping the bridge of his specs fondly.
“Brilliant! I’ll just tell Professor Lupin.”
Oh, that’s a very sexy name if Sirius does say so himself, though he tries not to marinate on the fact as he waits patiently while Harry leads that absolutely delicious looking man towards him. And God, the way he’s tipping back his head only slightly to meet Sirius’s gaze— It’s lewd.
“You’re Harry’s God father, yes?” Is the first thing Professor Lupin says to him, stretching out a hand that’s all long fingers stained by ink, and knobby knuckles that Sirius suddenly has the insane craving to nip at.
Jesus, he needs to get himself the fuck together.
“Ahem, yes, yes. I’m that. I’m Sirius I mean— Oh, my name, and erm— I’m also serious that I am his God father, that is a thing.” Sirius rambles, feeling like a complete idiot as he takes hold of Remus’s slender hand into his own, and shakes it with two, awkward pumps— holding onto it for a beat too long.
Sirius repeats, fuck James Potter.
“Right,” Professor Lupin says with something akin to amused. “Well he’s only got his maths to finish tonight, and a bit more reading for history.”
“Oh, good. I’ll definitely help with that. I’m great with numbers.”
“Wonderful,” Professor Lupin nods at him before peering down at Harry and grinning widely. “You did great today, just keep up with your novel for Professor Meadows and you’re splendid. Yeah?”
“Thank you Professor Lupin,” Harry preens, chest puffed out not unlike how James had used to do back in their school days every time they won a footie match.
“Nice meeting you Mr— ah?”
“Black!” Sirius quickly offers, straightening up immediately like a rose bud stretching towards the sun. “Sirius Black.”
The corner of Professor Lupin’s mouth twitches up, and Sirius is struck with the searing need to see the full force of his smile directed towards him— and also to snog it right off. “Remus Lupin, just to make things even.”
And fuck.
Sirius swears— hand on his chest and face to God— that it was a flirtatious inflection that Professor Lupin— Remus— used right then, but before he can even have the chance to toy around with the development, a mother in yoga pants and Starbucks strolls in and Remus walks over to greet her hello, and before Sirius knows it, Harry’s tugging on his hand and dragging him out the room.
Damn it.
.-
Despite his total and complete fail of a first meeting with Harry’s sickeningly attractive professor, the rest of the night turns out to go as perfectly as planned. Otherwise known as them stuffing themselves with greasy pizza, and heaps of ice cream, and staying up an hour past Harry’s typical bed time to play Far Cry instead. And if Sirius contemplates asking him more about this elusive Remus Lupin, he bites down the urge and concentrates on sticking his spoon onto his nose before Harry could beat him in their match.
It’s totally fine.
That is until it’s six o’clock in the ruddy morning and he’s woken up by the loud knocking of his front door, only to be met by the grossly chipper faces of Lily and James— that sort of glow is only a thing that happens after a good shag, and Sirius knows that for fact.
“We brought pasties,” Lily tells him as she sashays indoors, red main of hair billowing in the late autumnal breeze and her voice ringing out like she’s some sort of radio show host.
“How was last night?” James asks him as he toes off his boots and follows Lily to the kitchen.
“Fine,” Sirius gripes, still pissy from James’s cruel joke. “Haz is always great.”
“Mmm, I hope Remus didn’t give you any trouble picking him up, you’re on the paperwork and everything but it’s the first time he ever met you and all.” Lily says, faux lightly as she picks out the plates and turns on the electric kettle.
“You knew!” Sirius accuses emphatically, pointing a heated finger her way and then directing it towards James.
“Knew that he is exactly your type?”
“And that you’d look like a tosser talking to him for the first time,” Lily tacks on, giggling.
“Fuck you, and fuck your weird, married telepathy!”
“Nah, not telepathy mate,” James assures, clapping him on the shoulder. “You’re just incredibly predictable.”
“We’d have to be thick not to know that you’d be a total idiot around him— You’re the worst whenever you have to talk to pretty people who you actually want to do more than just screw.”
Sirius feels himself go scarlet. “That is an attack on my person, Evans!”
“Yes, dear. I know.” Lily croons, patting him on the cheek like a doting grandmother. “But does it help that I think you should totally go for it.”
“Lily! He’s our son’s teacher!”
“Only for this year,” Lily shrugs, sitting on a stool that lines the island. “Besides, I really like Remus. We have the same cycling class and he taught me how to make my face into an emoji like I’m a Kardashian.”
“You guys talk about’m like he’s the second coming of Christ,” James harrumphs, doling out their mugs with a scowl.
“He’s just so pretty,” Sirius sighs, beyond dejected. “Did you see that little birthmark on his cheek that looks like a butterfly! And Jesus, his eyes are like a third of his face!”
“Don’t forget how well he fills out those trousers for such a skinny bloke,” Lily adds, mixing the honey into the tea that James had just poured her.
“I alas did not get a chance to give his ass the appraisal it warrants,” Sirius bemoans.
“I very much do not like the idea that my best friend and wife are thirsting over the same bloke.” James sniffs.
“Jealous, lover,” Lily leers, laughing at how James wrinkles his nose at them and kisses his cheek in reassurance. But Sirius doesn’t pay them any of his attention, is too distracted by painting the picture of Remus in his mind’s eye, and how he really does need a second look if he loves himself at all.
“He’s like those caramel lollypops from when we were kids,” he tells them unceremoniously. “But instead of that tart middle, he’s just sweetness through the center.”
“You want to lick him, huh?” Lily asks, smirking at him with a lecherous air.
“I want to lick him until he goes mad and begs me to just flip’m over and—“
“Enough!” James quickly cuts in with a smack of the hand against the countertop. “This man is Harry’s professor, I can’t have these sort of images of him while I go to pick him up after class.”
Sirius jerks forwards, beyond excited. “Then let me pick up Haz from school today, yeah? It’ll give me a chance to speak with Remus!”
“Why do you want to talk to Mr Lupin?”
The three adults turn around at once, met by the image of Harry in the spare uniform he keeps at Sirius’s house— hair sleep rumpled and specs askew.
“Hallo my beautiful boy,” Lily grins, her and James each kissing his cheek and giving his shoulders a squeeze as he sits between them.
“Why do you want to talk to Professor Lupin, Uncle Sirius.” Harry asks again, earnestly as he tares apart his cheese and veggie pasty. “Do you like him?”
“Oh, erm—“ Sirius feels his insides squirm, not sure where to step, afraid that his God son might not appreciate the fact that Sirius’s already planning out a reception party for his impending nuptials with Remus.
“I think it’d be cool if you did.”
And in an instant, Sirius feels his shoulders loosen and his smile go elastic. God he loves this kid. “yeah?”
“Mhmm,” Harry nods, taking a sip of his water to clear his throat. “Ron told me that Professor Lupin use to be married to his Uncle Fabs and then they broke up last year, so I bet he’s sad now. And you’re the best person on the planet and you always have fun! You should make him happy again.”
Sirius’s heart seizes, suddenly needing to be the person to help Remus with anything he could ever need.
“You’re a diamond kiddo, you know that?” Sirius says, standing up to lift his eight year old God son into the air and blowing a raspberry to his cheek. “Shove it to your dad, you’ll be my best man at the wedding, yeah?”
“Imma need to start smoking if he’s gonna be this much of a prat all the time now,” James mutters lowly, making it so Lily crows with laughter.
.-
That afternoon finds Sirius parked back outside Harry’s school, straightening the collar of his jacket and combing a hand through his hair. Though once he steps into the nearly emptied classroom, he’s still slack jawed when Remus looks over his shoulder towards the door and grins at him in such a glimmering sort of way, that it punches Sirius in the fucking solar plexus!
“Mr Black, twice in one week?”
“Hah— Yeah.” Sirius hopes his smile comes out more gentle than a grimace. “It’s not far from my work, actually. So I guess I’ll be around more often.” In fact, the drive is a good twenty minutes from his office, but Sirius doesn’t think that’s really relevant.
“Lucky us.” Remus retorts, looking up and down his frame with a slow, languid sort of gaze that makes Sirius feel filleted right open. “Well I can’t wait to get to know you better.”
“You can know whatever you want,” Sirius practically sputters, wonders if he should try and act cool, especially now that Harry’s wandered over towards them.
“Is that an open offer?” Remus asks, pulling his bottom lip between his teeth and lying back leisurely against his desk.
“Yes. Yes, absolutely.”
Remus’s beautiful face goes absolutely incandescent right then. “Good.”
“Good,” Sirius repeats, completely devout.
“Oh, before you go,” Remus says, pointer finger raised to freeze them while his other hand fishes into a drawer of his desk. “It’s not a caramel pop, but at least the Tutsi ones are sweet all the way through.”
Sirius feels his jaw completely drop while Remus gently places the stick of the treat into his open hand, tossing him a quick wink before walking off to chat with a new parent who had wandered in.
“Harry— You said what to your teacher.”
“That you said he looked like a caramel pop,” Harry answers, totally owlish and unconcerned.
Sirius contemplates drowning into the lake, but then decides that this is a game he will not lose against Remus.
“All right, Prongslet. Let’s grab us some chocolate eggs and you can tell me everything you know about your dear Professor.”
“Okay, Uncle Pads,” Harry beams.
