happiness is a masterpiece from start to finish...the lyricism is top tier ("no one teaches you what to do / when a good man hurts you / and you know you hurt him too" + "when did all our lessons start to look like weapons pointed at my deepest hurt?" + "i can't make it go away by making you a villain" + "across our great divide / there is a glorious sunrise") and the way the instrumental slowly builds throughout the song and changes from melancholy at the beginning to hopeful at the end...it feels like going through all five stages of grief, finally landing on acceptance at the end, and it would remain that way even if she didn't sing a single lyric. like. the entire song is just so well constructed and so cathartic and brilliant and no one ever talks about it 😭😔

Hi! I’m SO sorry for blowing up your inbox lol- but I’m thinking about those song covers I wanna do and wanna lean into flowers meanings since I think they’re supposed to be a big part of PoM? Or maybe it was just that arc, idk.

But yeah I’m currently thinking about what flowers I should add for which song lmao. For I won’t say I’m in love I’m thinking of Dove with a black rose? Which means forbidden love, since I think that’s the main reason why she’s in denial about her feelings. (That’s what I got from all of your answers anyway)

And then there’s songs like Evermore. I love its showcasing of Doves and Wukong’s dynamic and wanted to show Dove leaving the frame with Wukong sitting with flowers that symbolize dove. (“Now I know she’ll never leave me, even as she runs away”) and I was wondering was flower you think would symbolize dove? I just don’t want to get anything wrong! It’s completely okay if you don’t know though! I don’t want you to feel forced to go down a rabbit hole of flower langue just because of my silly questions.

But if you do by chance know a bit of flower language (I’m just guessing that you do with how much flowers show up, but again, if you don’t, feel free to chuck this ask into the void lmao) do you also know what flower would symbolize Wukong from the perspective of dove? Wanna incorporate that in the Never Knew I Needed one.

I love the idea of using flower symbolism! I really wanted to lean into it for the Dovesbane arc (Wolfsbane is another name for monkshood *corny eyebrow wiggling*) because of the connection to Dove's old friend and everything his dad would tell him. But tbh I just love flower language in general, especially how different plants can have different meanings in various cultures. So I'll definitely lean into it more, just not as much as I did in that arc.

A flower I think that would represent Dove well are Althea's (hibiscus syriacus, there's a few flowers that are called similar names), they're also called Rose of Sharon. They're a resilient flower that not only represent love in many places around the world, but also healing.

Also, this. It's quite literally used in a way Dove uses her own powers.

As for symbolising Wukong from Dove's pov? I'd go with marigolds. Not just because they've been nicknamed the herb of the sun (teeheehee) but also because they have a vast range of symbolism to them. They're often associated with life and death (ironic because of Wukong's immortality) but can also represent two things Dove really admires about Wukong: creativity and passion. After all, he is known for both his cunning and impulsiveness.

Flowers to symbolise Wukong's love for Dove? There's a few that come to mind. Anemones can mean a whole lot of things based on their colour, like protection, anticipation, and love. I also think about carnations when it comes to their love as well, but more specifically pale red carnations. Not pink, and even though red itself represents affection and a deep love, pale red carnations are given to others as a way to say, "My heart aches for you" which is just 🥺

As a little bonus, I'll also throw in the acacia blossom. They often represent concealed love, which I think sums up Dove and Wukong for a chunk of their story. Even when Dove does realise her feelings, she has this huge crisis and struggles with her emotions. Some days she may feel like giving into them, other days she wishes those feelings didn't exist at all and tries to hide them as best she can. Girl really just needs to accept the fact that she loves him already 🙄

I think that that matches well with Dustin's character, he's energetic and excited to learn and experience things, he cares for his friends deeply but can feel left out sometimes.

El Hopper as Fearless

I think Fearless is about new beginnings and second chances, about being young and in love, wishing for your fairytale ending and being dissapointed when real life isn't like a movie. It's about highschool and being brave, it's about family, found and otherwise. It's about being fifteen. El is such a pure character, she's brave and willing to stand up when she has to, but wanting to be more than that, trying to be a teenager, making the best of something bad.

Will Byers as Speak Now

Speak Now is an album about growing up but never wanting to, it's about trying to hold onto your childhood, about whimsical fantasies, about foolishness and the broken hearts that come with it, about loving and fighting and making up and hoping those special moments in your life are long lived. Speak Now is about innocence and the loss of it. Will isn't ready to move on and grow up the way his friends seem to be, he wishes that things could be how they used to because it was so much better back then, he loves bravely and says what's on his mind, but keeps some things quietly locked away, afraid.

Red is kind of a lonely album, that of a people person who never has her own people in the end. It's a coming of age album about the realities of growing up and being forgotten, it's full of heartbreak and fear of rejection, it's a catchy melody with sad lyrics, but it is filled to the brim with burning red love and passion too. From the moment Robin was introduced she was clever and snarky, passionate and confident and lovable. Behind that she was a deep character, a brave one, she is undeniably, iconically her.

If you asked me I'd say that 1989 is about partying and being young and having fun and being in love. It's about petty grudges and and love that feels all-encompassing, but is really just suffocating, it's about what people say about you and who you really are. It's about moving on and being clean and starting anew despite the strangers talking about what's not theirs to talk about. Steve is a character that has constantly bettered himself, constantly having to prove that he isn't the same person he was. He's fallen in love and had to fall out of it time and time again.

Nancy Wheeler as reputation

reputation is about revenge and also karma, it's about killing the old you but not forgetting her, it's about new loves and not letting yourself get pushed around, it's about how delicate life and love can be. It pushes the boundries of cold and seeming like you dont care. But you do. Nancy is an interesting character to say the least, she's brave and strong and she struggles with showing her emotions and care, sometimes hurting people because of it, but she tries.

His pain is invisible to those around him because he keeps it close and hidden, he lashes out and digs himself further into a hole he cannot get out of on his own.

evermore is the coldest autumn, the trees obscure your view but you've long since stopped trying to reach for the fading sun. The rain falls but you can only sometimes feel it, you try to pretend it's fine this way, yet you keep venturing deeper into the thick forest. The truth is you are stuck, and as much as you pretend you're not it won't stop the mud from sticking to your soles and trying to pull you in as you reject the branches reaching for you. evermore is what happens when love can't overcome all. Max is sarcastic and fun, but there's always that overlying fear and anger that she eventually falls into, she's hurt and she can't move on from the things that have happened to her.

Hangman was the first song of theirs I'd heard, back in high school, and it was love at first listen. so I'm very happy that you enjoyed the vibe of that song too! and yes, their lyrics are always great.

to be honest, I rarely listen to full albums unless I Really really like someone's music (NIN, Depeche Mode and Recoil are the only artists whose albums I can always listen to in one go over and over), so I don't actually have a favorite Black Nail Cabaret album, but I like a song or two from all their major releases! Emerald City has the most of my favorites, though, so voting that as the album whose vibes really align with me.

yeah and its pretty bad i don't have like any interaction irl its all online and im kinda thankful for that because its a lot easier to deal with interactions online than in person its a lot less stressful 😭😭 but i never go outside i swear 😭😭 i feel like i would get so lonely if i was living alone even though i don't tend to think of myself as someone who needs in person social interaction... but i think it would build up and hit hard if i no longer had people around me to talk to even a little every day like my family.... hehe i will its so fun to talk to you ^^

rn i do plan to take another music exam probably grade 6 since that'll be the easiest to do. i need it for a high school credit so we'll see how it goes. i've done grade 3 and grade 5 in the past and got first class honors both times i think but it's still extremely stressful i think i cried both times lmao 😭😭 technically im more grade 8 or 9 piano but i don't want to do a higher level when i don't need to and haven't been playing for a year so we'll see how grade 6 stuff goes.... online lessons for piano were interesting for sure 😭😭 it was harder to do stuff like ear training and having the teacher not like exactly there with you made it harder to progress... i also forgot abt my piano lesson times a lot and would oversleep 💀 i really lost motivation to practice around the same time i was getting burned out because of school idk... back in 2020 i was so motivated with piano i would practice so much and that's actually why after i finished my grade 5 exam i progressed like 3 levels right after. i remember getting the grade 6-7 books but all the pieces were so easy in them all of sudden just cause of how much i practiced lol. but now i think i'm gonna struggle a bit to pick things back up before it gets easy again. damn having your mom as your teacher must've been hard but also nice in a way i assume?? i remember my mom used to bribe me with stuff to get me to practice, and one time i wanted to quit and she would not let me which was good cause i would've regretted it so hard but at the time i was not happy that i couldn't quit 😭😭

so my oc is this shifty little half-bosmer, half-breton conwoman with a lot....of names so basically she goes by arpina sun-stealer but her real name is a nord name (heehee lore) and she's the guildmaster of the thieves' guild and the listener of the dark brotherhood!! in terms of backstory this totally fits in but on a moral level it gets kinda fun because she's very soft and patient and exudes big Robin Hood energy THOUGH it is very clear that she Can and Always Will Be A Ratty Bastard despite her very fancy upbringing!!

all her life she's had a strange scar on her arm and when she meets the greybeards they read the name for her and they recognize it, but they can't tell her much bc soulmates are a dragon thing, not a human thing. eventually she meets miraak after getting harassed by his cultists and she is FURIOUS and HORRIFIED and naturally she's very upset but when she meets him she feels genuine sympathy for his plight and just can't bring herself to kill her soulmate.

miraak for his part is justifiably very angry abput being transferred over from one jailor to another, but he doesn't know that arpina's his soulmate until they go and take down alduin, but from his freedom from apocrypha to their entry to sovngarde he learns to get along and eventually starts enjoying their time together.

A/N: okay this song made me smile so much!! i'd never heard it before but i love it now. and with bokuto?? eek my heart was so ready for all the fluff. ive been doing a lot of angst lately so the fluff may be rusty. also i hope it’s not too short (lol i have a tendency to overwrite so 600 words feels short even tho i know its not). anyways here ya go 💃💃

“Today’s the day, Akaashi. I can feel it.”

Akaashi turned to see where Bokuto’s gaze was directed at and he wasn’t surprised to see it was you. He chuckled lightly, “Bokuto-san, you’ve been saying that for months now. I think it’s pretty clear they feel the same way about you.” As he said that, you turned to face the two boys and smiled at them, waving around the park admission tickets you picked up for the group.

Bokuto waved back at you enthusiastically. When you turned back around he faced Akaashi again. “I know I have, but I can’t help it. Right when I’m about to tell them, my tummy feels like mush and I can’t find the right words and I end up embarrassing myself.” Bokuto put his hands on his hips confidently. “But today’s the day.” He was beaming at the thought, about how great it’ll be when he confesses to you. “Today’s the day!”

“Day for what?”

Bokuto jumped at your voice. “Oh, um, today. Well today is..” he looked at Akaashi who just shrugged so he continued looking around stammering until he spotted the nearby bulletin board. “Well, today is ‘kids-get-in-for-free day,’ see,” he pointed to the poster. He laughed nervously, “Gotta love Tuesdays, am I right?” Why was he so nervous? Well, he knew why but why did his feelings toward you make him embarrass himself in front of you?

You burst into laughter and put a hand on his chest as you collected yourself, “Oh, Koutarou. I’m sorry to say but it’s not Tuesday today.”

Your laughter picked up again and he was in paradise. Your laughter was the sweetest sound he’s ever heard.

“Koutarou?” He was brought out of his daydreams at his name.

“What?”

You reached your hand out to him, “I said come on, the group’s already headed to the entrance. We’re burning daylight out here.” You grinned at him.

He grinned back and took a tight grasp of your hand.

The day went on and you and your friends were going to find a place to stop for lunch. You found a small look-out that had a view of the entire theme park.

“Oh my gosh this song is so cute!” You chuckled hearing upbeat music play from the park’s sound system.

“It is! I like it,” Bokuto started to do a little side-step to make you laugh and he grinned when he saw he was successful. He added in little arm swings and it only made you smile bigger.

“Okay, well while Bokuto has his dance party and saves this spot, let’s grab food. Wanna come with, Y/N?” One of your friends asked.

But you were focused on Bokuto’s goofy dancing. 

He held his hand out to you. “Stay with me?” he smirked. He added a shoulder shimmy and it won you over.

You giggled as you took his hand and joined him. He always knew how to raise your mood and make you smile. He was like sunshine.

“I guess we’ll leave you two alone then,” Akaashi smiled at the two of you and ushered the rest of the group toward the food stands.

You two danced and by the time the song ended you were face to face, inches apart.

You looked into his eyes and smiled when you saw him look down at your lips before meeting your gaze again. “Can I tell you something?” he breathed out.

“Mhm,” you mumble softly as you wrap and hang your arms around his neck.

“I think I’ve fallen for you. Hard.”
