High Enough (Without the Mary Jane)
summary; 'in every other universe, gwen stacy falls for spider-man. and in every other universe, it doesn’t end well'. you don't want to be a mary jane anymore.
or, in which you were the mindy s. mcpherson to miles's prowler
pairing(s); e-1610! Miles Morales x fem!reader, e-42! Miles Morales x fem!reader (r is referred to with she/her pronouns, no physical description.)
warning(s); fem spanish terms are used ('hermosa' etc.), reader’s hand is smaller than Miles’. author can’t write action sequences for shit.
may be ooc but we haven't seen a whole lot of p!miles yet so there isn’t really much to go off of
implied/mentioned parental issues with reader, not proofread, written (mostly) at ao3 hours
a/n; according to google the sinister 6 of e42 are doc oc, vulture, electro, rhino, sandman and scorpion, although i've seen some other ppl say that the eastereggs are vulture, rhino, scorpion, sandman, shocker, kraven and electro. i'm going w the google one, maybe kraven and shocker are their own thing. also they're prolly rich aholes since their signs are on buildings n stuff, so that's what i went with.
also reader was sent to earth 42, but like, a few days before 1610 miles arrives, kind of like how gwen was sent to 1610 a week before she found miles

Miles — or, who you assumed was Miles, anyway — took you back to his place, going out of his way to avoid alleys where there weren't many people around and sticking to the bigger streets. You found it kind of weird. Back home, you and Miles used to cut through backstreets and even some sketchy buildings all the time to make it home before curfew.
You felt him steal glances at you the whole walk, and you’d be lying if you didn’t do the same.
This version of him just felt so.. different.
Once the two of you reached your destination, he let you up the stairs first before quietly calling for you to stop once you reached his floor. You hesitated for a moment on the steps. It was a higher level than Miles’s flat back home, and the building had looked a lot different from what you’d seen just half an hour ago, even if it still felt familiar. You’d chalked it up to the multiverse doing multiverse things at first, but he was starting to act a little off.
Having been around your Miles for years, you knew all his tells. You could see how his weight shifted on his feet as he unlocked the door. You could see he was overall standing straighter and more tense. You could see the hesitation before he turned the key.
Miles was lying to you. And he felt guilty.
But what were you going to do?
This universe was new to you. Sure, everything seemed just about the same, but it was all so foreign at the same time. There where skyscrapers you’d never seen before, new graffiti on the streets of the same couple people over and over again - all of whom you were sure you’d seen somewhere before but couldn’t quite grasp where. The sight of buildings blocked by yellow tape and more in the process of repair after seemingly being burned down or blown up were common in this world, like it was an active war zone or something.
You really didn’t have a choice but to follow along.
He opened the door and waved you in, closing the door rather hastily after the both of you.
You took a glance around the room. There were metal bars on the windows, to keep people out or trap them in you couldn't quite figure. There was a DJ setup near them that looked awfully familiar. Hooks hung down from the unfinished ceiling, some holding chains and others oddly shaped items haphazardly wrapped with what looked like brown lunchbag paper. Wires and ventilation just about everywhere, most of the wires leading to either monitors or gadgets you assumed were in the progress of being built. An old, beat up couch and some gym gear by the wall, an open kitchen-slash-workshop area straight ahead.
The only source of light was the neon red from the signs outside the window, and even then the farther bits of the apartment remained a dark purple hue.
Then someone came out of the other room.
“What's this?
The hell—?
From the shadows, Aaron Davis emerged.
His beard was more grown out then you'd ever seen, and his features looked sharper, almost rougher. His shoulders seemed more broad, though maybe that was the heavy jacket he wore making him look bigger than he actually was.
“¿Tío?”
Miles had taken you around to his uncle's a couple of times, which you now realized was why you recognized this place. Aaron raised an eyebrow at you, surprise flashing across his face before it was quickly wiped out. He looked over you, taling in your appearance.
“Miles.” He asked again.
“I dunno,” the boy replied, stuffing his hands deeper into his pockets and avoiding his uncle's gaze. “Just found her on the way home.”
“Found her?”
Aaron glanced at you, then back to Miles, then back to you, his eyebrows furrowed in either confusion or frustration. He finally looked back at his nephew, the two of them having a silent conversation you couldn’t read.
“…Fine.” Aaron sighed, turning around—
You felt like you were dying, or being born, or possibly both at the same time. For a split second, you were nothing but particles, your skin and bones and just about everything being ripped apart then sewn back together. Your vision was a mix between TV static and rapid fire neon colors, and it was about the same deal with your hearing (which was concerning, since you couldn't usually hear colors).
Miles had taken a step forward, letting you grab his arms to keep you from falling over as he said something you couldn’t quite hear. Aaron had whipped around so fast you wondered how it didn’t give him whiplash, fists at the ready in case he needed them.
“What was that?” Miles’s voice finally got through to you, the high-pitched screaming in your ears dying down. You blinked at him as your mind went blank.
“I don’t—” You cut yourself off. Wait, was it..? Had you just..?
“Complete cellular decay.” You recalled Miles’s countless retellings of the multiversal mess that had happened just about two years ago. “I’m glitching, aren’t I?”
“Right, and you know this because..?” Aaron asked, his hands now at his sides but not eased yet. He eyed your face as if he was expecting you to grow a third eye or something. Honestly, you couldn’t blame him.
“Okay, so, this might sound crazy,” You started, “but I’m from another dimension.
“We had something like this happen back home a while back — except, y’know, people came into our dimension rather than people from ours going somewhere else.
“The people that came, they were glitching, too. Their atoms were displaced and decaying.”
“So you’re saying,” Miles spoke up, his grip tightening around your forearms just slightly. “If you stay here too long—”
“I’ll die, yeah.” You said, the reality of the situation hitting you like a KTX. “Disintegrate, to be more accurate.”
Silence filled the flat as all three of you processed the information. Miles was frozen, his gaze fixated on the spot where your hands grabbed onto him as if he was scared you’d disappear if he looked away. Aaron crossed his arms, his eyes darting from left to right like he was reading some invisible text.
As for you, you felt unreal. Your body didn’t feel like your own anymore, your vision more like looking at the screen of a first-person shooter. Were you going to die here? You didn’t want to die yet. What would your dad think? Would he file a police report? Would Miles’s dad send out a search party to look for you? And Miles—
You hadn’t even said goodbye to him at the party.
You hadn’t said goodbye to anyone.
I don’t wanna die I don’t wanna die I don’t wanna die I don’t—
“Hey,” Miles says, his voice softer than earlier, snapping you out of your spiral. His hands slide down your forearms and slip into your own, giving them a firm squeeze. “No vas a morir.”
You’re not gonna die.
“Te llevaré a casa.” The boy said, his deep brown eyes bore into yours, slowly bringing you back from feeling like you’re looking at a video game to feeling more like you’re lucid dreaming. It wasn’t a total fix, but it’s a start. “I’ll get you home, I promise.”
You took a deep breath, trying and failing to ground yourself more.
“What’s five things you hear?” Miles asked gently, tilting his head and leaning ever so slightly closer to you. You just blinked, overwhelmed with everything.
“Mi vida,” he said again. “Five things.”
You paused for a moment.
Sirens outside.
Yelling from the streets.
Chains clinking in the breeze from the open window.
Aaron shuffling around in the other room. When had he left?
The buzzing of the lights overhead.
“Good.” Miles said encouragingly. “Now, four things you see.”
Miles.
A pan on the kitchen stove.
The DJ table by the windows.
Tio Aaron pulling out the couch to make a sofa bed.
“Three things you can touch here.”
Miles.
The ground if you bent down, you guessed.
Some trinkets on the table just over there, but you’re not gonna touch that.
“Two you can smell?”
Rusted metal. There’s tons of it around; on the walls, the ceiling, tables, even on the shelves. What was that chest plate doing back there, anyway?
That pool smell, which is kinda gross since it came from the chlorine in pool water mixed with all the gross stuff that came from human bodies.
Miles smiled as you said that. “Vuelves a mí, mi sol.” He squeezed your hands again. “One thing you can taste.”
“I dunno, soda? We had a ton of it at the party.” You wiggled your fingers. It was like you were stepping into your body for the first time — nothing was a perfect fit just yet, like a pair of knitted gloves with too much room at the ends of the fingers. You’d have to get used to it again.
It’s then that Aaron called Miles over, the boy reluctantly leaving your side and following his uncle to the other room. He told you to make yourself comfortable on the couch before he went, though, so that’s exactly what you did. The spring cushions feel oddly comforting under you, the familiarity of home twisted just slightly out of proportion.
There’s really nothing to do alone here. You tapped your fingers on your leg. Thankfully, Miles and Aaron came back after just a few minutes.
The first thing the boy said to you, “I’m gonna get you home.” A firmer, more certain repetition of his promise from a minute ago, albeit there’s a bit of a strain in his voice as if it physically hurt him to say it. In a clumsy yet swift motion, he quickly leaned down and kissed your cheek before making his exit rather hurriedly.
You felt the heat rush to your face, your hand coming up almost immediately to touch the spot.
Aaron chuckled and shook his head.
“So,” he said. “You as smart as she was, too?”
-
You tinkered with the gauntlet of a prototype suit that Aaron had dug out of storage somewhere, the man himself working on the main body. The helmet — or was it more of a mask? It was a bit bulkier than Miles's Spider-Man mask, a bit more tech-y. Probably more similar to an Iron Man helmet, now that you think about it, albeit lower in its level of advancement — was plugged into one of the many monitors strewn about the flat.
You'd managed to pry a couple bits of information out of him for the past few hours (during which you hadn't glitched again, thankfully) in exchange for some of your own. So far you knew that this universe’s Jefferson Morales had passed away a few years ago, prompting Miles to take on the mantle of the Prowler to avenge his father’s death — the details of which he stayed frustratingly vague on — and, later on, to keep the city as safe as he could.
“Wait, wait, who’s your Spider-Man, then?”
“Who’s Spider-Man?”
You blinked in confusion. “What? You don’t have a Spider-Person?”
“What, like, a part-spider guy? Nah. Scorpion’s mostly bug though, that count?”
This dimension didn’t have a Spider-Man. That was why the city was so overrun with bad guys.
You gave him a general rundown of the whole ‘radioactive spider’ thing and moved on.
Your own variant, who was Miles’s best friend and had helped make a lot of his gear, had disappeared a while after the Prowler started taking out some bad guys that were a step above villain-of-the-week, the ones who had all sorts of shady connections. Hearing about your presumed death was a strange experience.
“We know they took her,” The older man had said, jamming his screwdriver into a faulty part of the suit. “But the cops are all in on it ever since the Cartel bought ‘em out. Declared her dead after less than 24 hours.”
Oh, speaking of, apparently there was a team of villains bringing Gotham to life in New York, Brooklyn being the heart of it all. How fun.
The Sinister Six Cartel, as the Bugel had dubbed them, was the one Aaron and Miles believed to be behind your variant’s disappearance. The two were certain that the Cartel had worked out a connection between you and the Prowler. The nail on the coffin was when they sent a body double of you in the Prowler’s direction to mess with his head just a couple months ago, complete with some sort of Face Off style mask that made it possible for the fake to look exactly like you. It was only a day or two before Miles figured out it was a setup, but it had shaken him up pretty bad.
“I thought you were another one.” He’d admitted. “But then you did the whole glitchy thing. Looked horrible, by the way, real nasty. It hurt much?”
“You have no idea.”
In return, you told him about home. You told him how Miles’s dad was up for a promotion, practically Captain already. You told him about your Miles’s art and how he made a mural of him after his death. You didn’t go into too much detail about the ‘death’ part, focusing more on the peaceful aspects since it was so clearly missing from his every day life. You couldn’t really read this Aaron Davis that well since he was more guarded than he had been back home, but you could tell he appreciated it; especially the parts about his brother.
You also told him how Miles and the other Spider-People who were sent to your dimension had worked out a solution to fix their situation, and gave him a brief summary of the whole ordeal, the details of which he texted Miles since he hadn’t given you a chance to tell him about it when he left so hastily. He said something you couldn’t quite make out as he did — you caught the words ‘lab’ and ‘property’, but that was pretty much it. He only waved it off as nothing when you asked him about it.
“How’s my dad?” You asked, pushing your hand into the gauntlet to test if it worked right. It was a near perfect fit, which made you wonder who exactly it was for, since Miles’s hand was bigger than yours. “Is he doing okay? After the whole ‘declared dead’ thing?”
“He’s holding up, just like the rest of us,” Aaron replied, checking on the monitor. “Your mom — her mom’s been sticking around. Grief brings people together and all that. They’re trying therapy.”
A weird feeling bubbled up inside. While it was good to know at least one version of your parents were trying to reconcile, it bothered you that your absence had prompted it. Was that what was happening right now back home? Had your disappearance magically brought your parents back together? Had it even been long enough for that to happen, or did time flow equally throughout the multiverse?
Would it be better for them if you just didn’t go back at all?
“Oh.” You said, nodding slightly as you flexed and wiggled your fingers in the gauntlet, watching the way it moved. It was a lot thinner than the claws that adorned the Prowler’s hands from what you’d spotted here and there in the flat, built to be stealthier in the way it functioned. There were no clunks or clinks, just soft whirring noises that sounded almost like a cat’s purr. “That’s good, I guess.”
It was worse this time around, which you didn’t even know was possible. You felt yourself being split in a billion different directions, parts of you re-atomizing not quite in the right places. You’d never known the feeling of having space between where all your joints were supposed to connect, but now you did, and it honestly made you want to die. Not really. Well…
-
Miles came back sometime before dawn. You heard the door opening slowly, almost like he was trying not to wake his parents up as he was sneaking in past curfew. Not that he used the door ever since he could climb walls, but still.
He crept into his uncle’s flat, even leaving his shoes at the door so he wouldn’t make too much noise. He was making his way to the other room when he looked at you on the couch, only to flinch in surprise when he saw your eyes were open.
“¿Qué haces despierto?” He whispered, his shoulders tenser than earlier from the split second of adrenaline. “It’s late.”
“What are you doing that you have to sneak in?” You whispered back. The boy just shrugged.
“Oh, you know…” He trailed off, looking around to avoid your questioning gaze. “…Stuff.”
You rolled your eyes. “That has gotta be the lamest excuse I’ve ever heard.”
Miles huffed, shuffling over to you and sitting down on the floor in front of the couch, facing you. “Yeah, well, I asked you first. Why’re you up, hermosa?”
You sighed. “Can’t sleep.”
“Why not?”
“Oh, I don’t know, the thought of my impending doom, maybe.”
A couple beats passed by without a word from either of you, a bit of awkwardness hanging in the air, though it was accompanied by a familiar sense of comfort.
“Do you trust me?” Miles asked, his hand reaching out to gently grab a corner of the blanket draped over you.
“Probably.” You replied. You hadn’t known him long enough to trust him just yet, as much as you wanted to. The corners of his lips tilted up just a bit in an almost smile.
“Then trust that I’ll do whatever it takes to get you home.” He said. “I already lost you once, I’m not letting that happen again.”
-
The next day was pretty uneventful. For the most part, anyway, if you don’t count the random glitching throughout. You were advised heavily against going outside since the Cartel had eyes everywhere, so your area of activity was limited to the flat. Miles had evidently snuck back out after your little talk the night before, which made you feel a tinge disappointed since you wanted to get to know him better. Fortunately, Aaron said you could help with the suit again.
The TV played in the background as you tapped on the keyboard, giving the helmet a few final touch-ups as the sun set outside the window. J. Jonah Jameson jabbered on about this week’s biggest disasters and lamented about how ‘if only there was a hero to save this city’, which made you snort.
“He’s gonna switch up real quick if a hero does show up,” You remarked to Aaron, who looked at you questioningly. “The guy hates Spider-Man back home.”
“What, Jameson?” He said, raising an eyebrow. “Nah, he’s the biggest Captain America fanboy out there. Loves heroes an’ all that.”
He thought for a moment. “Pretty sure Miles saw him at Comicon that one time too.”
“What’s a Comicon?”
Unfortunately, you never got the answer as you heard the lock on the door slide open. You spun around in your chair to greet Miles as you knew he was supposed to be coming by sometime in the evening, but your friendly smile quickly faded as his expression turned to one of shock, catching a glimpse of what the two of you were working on.
The boy froze as he stared, wide-eyed, at the suit. “Tio,” He said, looking at Aaron as he clenched his jaw. “What’s that doing out?”
“She needs a suit.” The older man answered simply.
“What?” Both you and Miles asked, though you could tell it was for vastly different reasons.
“We need to get into Alchemax to get her home, and we can’t do that unless she has protection.”
“Which is why I came here to make a plan!” Miles shouted, his hands moving animatedly, the way your Miles's always did when he got upset. “Eso, eso no le pertenece. ¡No es para ella!”
They had a back and forth as the pieces came together as to why Miles was so upset.
The suit was supposed to be for you.
His you.
You were, essentially, fixing up a dead girl's clothes to wear.
“The Cartel isn't stupid, Miles,” Aaron tried to make the boy see his point. “Even if we somehow made a distraction big enough for the big ones to leave base, there's still gonna be someone left to guard it. Would you be able to live with yourself if she got hurt? Or worse—”
“Don't.” Miles's nails dug into his palms, leaving dark cresent moons in their wake. Aaron sighed.
“If she got hurt, you'd feel like that's on you. If you got hurt protecting her 'cause she doesn't have anything to protect herelf with, then I'd feel like that's on me.” He said, his features softening as he reasoned with his nephew. “This is the best bet.”
“We could build her a new suit—”
“And take what? Couple days? A week? Two weeks?”
He glanced at you, Miles following his gaze towards you as well. You knew what was implied. The only people you knew this happened to had gone maybe over a week before the glitching became a real problem, and they were superhuman. Who knew how long you had?
“She can wear mine. We have a ton of old ones, I'll just take one of those—”
“I'm not gonna let you get hurt for her, kid.”
“Don't call me that.”
They went back and forth for a while, and eventually Miles went to the other room to cool off and think things through. Aaron sighed, wiping a hand across his face.
“No offense.” He said to you.
“None taken.” You replied, not really knowing what to do. It felt wrong for you to be tinkering with something that was so clearly not meant for you, even if it was for a variant of yourself.
You could hear Miles pacing the other room, muttering to himself.
“Maybe I could...” You trailed off.
“You could try talking him into it,” He suggested. “He'll listen to you more than me right now.”
“...Should I, though?” You couldn't even begin to imagine what Miles was feeling. All this multiverse shit was too damn complicated.
“Look, kid, I know it's weird.” Aaron said, shoulders sagging just a bit. “But this—” he pointed to the suit— “is the best way to make sure no one gets hurt. Trust me.”
There was something he wasn't telling you, but he didn't have to for you to know what it was. Miles thought you were alive, somewhere out there. You knew it was entirely possible that he blamed himself for your disappearance, as it was your own version of him's go-to for anything and everything that went wrong. The shadows under his eyes, that look whenever he saw you... you wondered how many nights he'd spent outside, looking for some trace of you, a new lead to follow. Especially since your arrival.
Aaron thought this was the best chance Miles would ever get to let go of you. To get some sort of closure by sending you home.
“…I'll try.” You finally agreed, getting up from your seat and shuffling to the other room. You hesitated before going in, but the lack of a door made it awkward to linger, so you just bit the bullet and walked inside.
The room in question was more of a faux-veranda (which explained the no-door thing); a long, narrow space separated from the main living area by a sheet of drywall, with one of the wider walls filled with shelves of CDs and albums and the other decorated sparingly with old band and movie posters along with Miles-brand stickers.
“So...” You said, fiddling with your hands as you took a look around the area. You gestured at one of the stickers on the wall. “Did you make that?”
Slowing to a stop to face you, Miles nodded, his hands stuffed into the pockets of his jacket.
“Cool.”
You both stood there in silence for a moment, you working out what to say and Miles trying to come up with some other solution to the problem. The boy had an unhealthy obsession, that much he knew, but he just couldn't bring himself to let go of it. Not when you could be out there, just waiting for him to find you.
“I don't want to push you,” You started hesitantly. “But.. I think your tìo may be right.”
“I know that.” He looked at his feet as if the dirt on his shoes was suddenly the most interesting thing in the world, the sight of him reminisent of a little kid getting scolded by his mother. “I know that.”
“I can't say I understand.. whatever's going through your head right now,” You said, taking a step towards him. “But he just wants what's best for you.”
“What's best for me is finding—” He cut himself off when his eyes met yours, frustration and confusion and stubbornness and sadness and who knows what else all mixing into a big mish-mash of conflicting thoughts inside of him. He clenched his fists, tilting his head up as he tried to think clearly. To his dismay, his throat closed up, the familiar sting of tears pricking at his eyes.
“I need to find her.” He muttered, putting a hand over his eyes in an attempt to stop his tears from falling. It didn't work. “I need to find you.”
“And you will.” You were sure of it. Aaron and Miles were both so sure that their you was alive... she had to be. “But right now? Right now, I need you to help me out.”
He looked at you, his gaze almost spaced out for a moment. You wondered if he saw her in you — if she had the same haircut, the same eyes, the same accent...
You could tell he was frustrated by the way that the scrunch above his nose wouldn’t go away. Hesitantly, you reached out, wiping away the tracks stray tears had left on his cheeks. He stiffened for a moment.
“...Fine.” He finally muttered, a hand coming up to grab your arm, though he seemed unsure if he wanted to push it away or pull it closer. So he just held it in place, his thumb brushing over the inside of your wrist, the edge of your palm. His posture relaxed, just a bit. “Okay.”
-
Two days later, it wasn't too dark when the plan set into action.
Security at Alchemax — once belonging to Kingpin, now in posession of the Sinister Six Cartel — was thinnest sometime around six to seven pm, when dinner breaks, shift changes and the checkout of regular scientists were prominent.
Miles and Aaron had each set up time bombs at multiple smaller warehouses the Cartel used for storage, each coordinated to go off within minutes of each other. With little to no heroes or police in the way, the Cartel had no reason to keep their lesser important stocks well-guarded, which made it easy to sneak explosives into some of the shipments, support beams and pipes.
Once the explosions were set off, Aaron would use some rip-off Mysterio tech to make projections of some new vigilante gang, with each fake member leading the forces of the Cartel away from Alchemax. During this went on, Miles would sneak you in and to the Super Collider (which, surprisingly, had not been scrapped since its change of ownership) through the vents—
“Wait, wait, isn’t there like, a tunnel that can get us directly to the Collider?” You’d asked, remembering what Miles had told you when he first told you how he became Spider-Man.
“It got sealed off.” Aaron had said. “Some sort of supercharged electromagnetic thing. They did that with all the major underground entry points. Can’t shut it off without blacking out half of Brooklyn.”
“Or getting fried.” Miles had said. “The generators powering each point are all hooked up together a single system, como una mente colmena. You attack one of ‘em directly, all the others shoot a billion bolts of energy into you. And we don’t have time to hack into and get past the firewall to shut the thing down.”
—which you would navigate by memorizing a blueprint of Alchemax that had been conveniently leaked in a mass Cartel server leak a couple months ago. Miles would then plug in the goober he, Aaron and you had made using information gathered via Aaron's 'friends', and send you home.
It was a simple mission. Maybe a bit too simple, but you didn't really have much a choice when you were on a time crunch with limited information. Besides, Occam's razor.
“Copy?” Aaron's voice asked from your earpiece.
“Copy.” You answered, followed by Miles from his own communicator.
“A-6 is a go in 3.. 2...”
Boom.
A couple blocks away, a cloud of dust shot into the air. The building you and Miles were on the roof of shivered slightly as storage unit A-6 blew up.
“A-27.”
Boom.
“C-15.”
Boom.
From your vantage point, you had a clear view of what was going on at Alchemax without the risk of anyone down there catching a glimpse of you. You could see the non-combat scientists scrambling to get to their cars and the armed guards being led by weirdly dressed villains in the direction of the explosions. Although you supposed you weren't quite qualified to comment on the 'weirdly dressed' part at the moment, since you and Miles weren't much better in your respective suits.
Speaking of, Miles hadn't talked much ever since he first saw you wearing the suit. His responses were short if he even gave one, although you could feel him sneaking glances at you when he thought you weren't looking.
Miles fixed the gauntlet on his hand one last time before shuffling closer to you. “Ready?”
His voice sounded strange to you, his actual voice coming through your earpiece overlapping with the voice coming through his modulator.
“Mhm.”
“Going in.”
You hooked your arms around his shoulders and his arm wrapped around your waist, holding you tight as a grapple shot out of his gauntlet. He used it almost exactly like how Miles used his webshooters, although his actions were a bit more... forceful? Rougher around the edges, if that made sense.
As your feet left solid concrete, the city sped by underneath the both of you, a pretty blend of neon and gray. Your suit prevented you from actually feeling the air whipping by, but a fraction of the wind managed to seep through the cracks, sending a chill down your spine as your stomach dropped at the sudden decline.
For a moment, gravity seemed to disappear. The laws of physics no longer felt like they effected you in any meaningful way. Anything and everything that had been weighing down on you — this whole situation, Miles, demanding schoolwork at Visions, your parents and their myriad of problems — no longer held you down.
It was exhilarating.
Your 'flight', so to speak, was over almost as soon as it started. You tucked your legs as you reached the roof of the Alchemax building, separating from Miles and rolling to lessen the impact. Surprisingly, the move came quite naturally to you, even without practice. You chalked it off as something you'd learned when you were a toddler, when your mom used to sign you up for all sorts of extracurriculars. You were pretty sure martial arts or something had been one of them; maybe you'd learned it there.
Your heart pounded as the sudden rush of adrenaline faded away, and you found yourself wishing it didn't. The thrill was addicting, as was the freedom that came with it. It was like a rollercoaster, or watching How to Train Your Dragon in 4D for the first time, only a hundred times better.
Miles had never taken you swinging. He'd never exactly told you why, always brushing off your request with something like a 'maybe later' or 'I can't right now', but you knew why.
Swinging together was a him and Gwen thing.
And you were fine with that.
What, like you were gonna be jealous about something as small as that? Pfft. No way. Nope. Nada.
“¿Estás bien?” Miles asked, pulling you out of your thoughts. You nodded in confirmation.
The two of you pried open a vent using the gloves of your suit, which was easier than you’d expected it to be. To your surprise, the claws that extended from them were very useful.
“We’re in.” You muttered as you crawled into the duct, hoping Aaron wasn’t having any trouble on his end. He’d been awful quiet… Then again, no news is good news on a mission, right?
Miles crawled in after you. “You remember the way?”
“Yeah.”
Together you made your way to the underground levels of the building, miraculously avoiding any possible dead ends or mouse traps. That musty smell of mold and concrete reached your senses as you reached the deeper parts.
There weren’t many people at the Super Collider, thanks to the diversion and timing. Miles gestured for you to stay put as he swiftly dropped out of the vents, knocking out the few guards there one by one with relative ease. It was strange seeing him fight; so similar to yet completely different from him. You were doing as told and observing from the vents until you saw one of the last three people — a scientist, by the looks of it — sneaking up on Miles from behind while he was preoccupied with the two other guards.
You quickly dropped down from your spot, landing behind the guard and catching him by surprise as he whirled around with his weird-techy-science gun. Dropping to the ground, you swept your leg under his, toppling him over and knocking the weapon out of his hands. You were about to knock him out when—
“Peter Parker?”
Are you kidding me?
You were certain it was him. This Peter was scrawnier, his hair more sandy blond than Peter Parker’s back home (before he passed, anyway), and he wore thick, black-rimmed glasses that perched awkwardly on his slightly crooked nose. But the ID that read ‘Peter Parker’ in big bold letters around his neck was a pretty solid indicator.
“…Yes?” He almost squeaked out.
Meanwhile, Miles had dealt with the two guards, stepping over them to get to the console. “Sácalo y entra ahí.” He called, fumbling a little as he tried to figure out which buttons to push to fire up the Collider.
“We have a bit of a situation..” You said, pulling Peter up by his arm and dragging him to the console as well.
You gave him a hushed explanation of your unwillingness to hurt the guy, and how you believed he was genuinely a good person. After all, this universe was almost the same as yours, right? Peter Parker couldn’t be that different here…
“And besides, he probably knows how to work this thing. It’d be helpful.”
Miles sighed. “…Fine, I won’t knock him out,” He agreed. Turning to Peter, he asked, “How do you start the Collider?”
Peter gulped, everything in his body language screaming ‘I want to run away’. “You- you need codes,” He stammered out. “Approval codes, from—”
“Don’t care.” Miles cut him off, giving him a brief glance at the goober. “Just start it. ¿Lo pilla?”
Peter nodded hastily and got to work, pressing buttons and switching levers as you made your way down to the Super Collider. There was a catwalk that ran from one side of the machine to the other, connecting the two mechanisms. If you got to the middle of it, you could jump off and into the portal once the Collider was at full output. Sure enough, its huge metal plates clinked and clattered as they slowly sprung to life.
This was it. You were finally going home.
Just then, you heard a thunk along with some choice words in Spanish, and looked over to the source to see Peter out cold on the ground.
“He got to the panic button!” Miles said, scowling to himself as he plugged in the goober, praying that this plan would work out in the next minute or so. Bubble-like particles appeared at the two points of the machine that faced each other, the noise it emitted now making it so that you could only properly make out what Miles was saying through your earpiece.
The Collider whirred and sputtered as the bubbles grew bigger and brighter, eventually bursting into two beams of light that met each other in the middle, creating one big sphere with a bunch of little bubbles going in and out of it and surrounding it. The sphere grew larger and larger until it collapsed in on itself, sprouting thin, curvy lines.
The thing grew bigger and bigger until it was about the size of a person, you could feel it starting to pull you in. You just had to wait for Miles’s go ahead—
Ow.
What the hell?
You were suddenly sprawled on the ground, something having tackled you at what felt like a hundred miles an hour. That something — or rather, someone — skid to a halt just a few feet away from you, dragging a hand across the tiled floor and leaving… scratch marks?
Scrambling to your feet, you crouched in a defensive stance as you looked over the newcomer.
There wasn’t a single inch of skin showing, their suit covering the whole of their person. The suit in question was mostly white, with some gray sprinkled in here and there. It reminded you of Eve from Wall-E or a Stormtrooper, maybe a mix of both. Strangely enough, the mask was just a blank slate; a sleek, white panel with no features or details, kind of like one of those LED face masks.
Overall it was kind of… boring? It didn’t inspire fear nor did it seem very imposing or something of the sort, which you’d think would be a priority for a villain organization. If anything it was bland, the only thing that stood out from the suit being its hands which donned gauntlets that looked similar to yours, but slimmer and more polished, more accurately described as gloves rather than gauntlets. They had claws just like yours, albeit they looked sharper, a bit more gnarled.
“Miles?” You called, your heartbeat quickening. “What’s going on?”
You heard a grunt from his end. You didn’t look to see what was happening, not daring to take your eyes off of your attacker, but you guessed that backup from Peter’s panic signal had arrived.
“What’s going on?” Aaron echoed, his voice slightly fuzzy. Before you could answer, your attacker lunged. You managed to doge a full on body slam, but they grabbed your arm instead, using it to flip you over their body and knocking the wind out of you.
You writhed as you hit the ground, managing to rip your arm out of their grasp and landing a kick on their ankle, causing them to stumble. You took the opportunity to get up and put some distance between the two of you, though you didn’t get far before the lunatic started chasing you. They jumped at you again but you turned around at the last second, and as you were pushed back with their claws digging into your shoulders you kicked both of your legs out into their stomach just as your back hit the ground, sending them straight over your head.
“Tìo, get your nephew, now!” You shouted, rolling away just in time to avoid a punch that landed on the floor where your head had been just a second ago. “It all went to shit, get him out!”
The pull from the Collider was getting stronger, tiny scraps like bolts and papers flying through the air and towards the beam of light. You raced back to the catwalk but were once again stopped by the 29th century Stormtrooper. You yelped as you felt something grab the back of your neck, sharp claws piercing through your suit and digging into your skin as your head was thrown harshly against a metal beam.
And just like that, you were on the ground. Again. What was this, like, the third time? Fourth? Great. Just fantastic.
I’m not even supposed to be here, you thought, grabbing at your opponent’s wrists as their hands wrapped around your neck, slowly choking you. They were stronger than you were, faster, clearly more skilled. What were you thinking? You’re not a fighter — you couldn’t beat them, not like this.
Why was the universe so intent on making you miserable? You were just trying to get home, maybe not die. Not dying would be nice. But no. You couldn’t have nice things, could you? Not your own life, not Miles, your own damn parents were happier in a reality where you weren’t in the picture—
A sudden surge of anger made you lash out. The universe could go fuck itself. You weren’t dying like this. Not when your ticket home was right in front of you.
Your gauntlet caught your attacker’s mask, knocking it off.
You knew that face.
It was the same face that looked back at you every time you looked at a mirror.
Well, not exactly, you supposed. There was a certain roughness in her features, the same as how Miles looked different from Miles. But you’d know those eyes anywhere. But they were… what’s the word, fuzzy? Unfocused? It was like her body was on autopilot while her brain was off in Hawaii or something.
The thing you did next could’ve won you the prize for ‘smartest dumb decision of the year’.
In all your oxygen-deprivated brilliance, you retracted your mask.
It might shake her, was your reasoning. It would confuse anyone to see a doppelgänger in a fight.
Or, you know, it could go totally wrong and she could punch your face in. But you were already getting choked, so, what was there to lose?
And it worked.
Her eyes shifted back into focus as her grip slackened, and you quickly shoved her — or is it you? yourself? — off, gasping for air. You could vaguely make out the outline of a giant scorpion-guy going one-on-one with Miles, who seemed to be holding out pretty well. He was favoring his left hand though, when usually he used his right.
“I— wha—? Where—” You heard from your left. Your alternate universe counterpart looked around the lab, her eyes wide and movements jerky like a wild animal on drugs.
You were about to say something when a loud buzzing came through your comm, which had evidently been damaged in the whole head-beam connection thing. Miles’s voice came through in broken pieces.
“Col— get..t— ov-rload—”
The Collider. The goober could only force an incomplete system to run for so long. Your time was up.
Wonderful.
A flash of blinding light came from the machine as it malfunctioned. The goober could only make an incomplete system work for so long. You were just able to get your helmet back on before everyone in the vicinity was pushed back in an explosion. Was that Aaron—?
After your temporary blindness wore off, you made out the aftermath, a high-pitched ringing in your ear as you dazedly looked around. The glass that separated the control area from the Collider had been shattered, the Scorpion twitching as he tried to get to his feet — did he have feet? Now’s really not the time — There was no sign of Miles or Aaron anywhere, which was either very good or very bad. You decided to believe it was the former for your own sake. A short distance away from you was another you, that one unconscious but still breathing, from the looks of it.
Grabbing your variant, you ripped open a vent on the wall before the Scorpion could take notice of either of you, shoving her in before following suit and placing the vent cover back on. You had to get out of here. Fast.

“Clean-up crew is on the way. You,” He points sharply in your direction, “come with me.” He roughly passes by you, purposely clipping the edge of your shoulder.
You sulk slightly and follow him into the portal, mood effectively ruined.
Everything worked perfectly in your eyes. You were able to save the family and a few people inside the building. You even had time to pick up a free hotdog.
“It’s on the house for you, Spider-Woman! Thanks for saving the day!”
“Aw, thanks, dude.”
Of course, before you could take a bite of your well-earned lunch, O’Hara’s hulking figure was standing over you. He’s angry.
Gwen wisely scurried off before you all got to the portal and Jess had better things to do than deal with whatever was going on between the two of you. So you’re effectively alone now. Great.
“The fuck did you think you were doing out there?” Miguel’s voice booms off the high ceilings of his office as he leads you toward his desk. He has this pretentiously slow platform that he loves to use to look down on people. You feel like a student that got called to the principal's office. “You could’ve gotten yourself killed–or worse, gotten someone else pulled into your fucking mess.”
You roll your eyes as soon as he passes, “Oh, come on O’Hara, you were about to bail on a car full of people and left a bunch of workers in the crumbling building because nothing is more important than your dumbass box of scraps and wires!”
He turns stiffly, jaw clenching at your words, but his eyes roam to anything else in the room but you. Like always. “You know we’ve been looking for that equipment for months. If we have any chance to hold back this multiverse annihilator even a few days, we’re gonna take it.” Miguel is as curt as ever, stance stiff as he tries to pretend he’s unaffected. Like he’s convincing himself he’s doing the right thing. And what you did was wrong.
“There were four of us out there, Miguel,” His eyes briefly meet yours at the sound of his given name. Something he has rarely heard you say since you’ve been in Nueva York. “The package was barely a struggle for one of us! You’re telling me we needed four hands to locate and retrieve that shit?” You gesture over to the crate resting on his computer platform.
He sighs like he’s tired of hearing your voice. Tired of being in the same room as you. His hand smooths over his face, “That’s not the point, Kid.” You could feel warmth blooming inside of your chest at his choice of words. It’s demeaning, and he knows it. As much as you hate him right now, you’re also loving this. You’re finally getting the chance to express all the frustration he’s inspired in you. And it’s satisfying to watch him get all wound up because you actually made the right move. He just can’t admit it.“What you did was beyond idiotic. You could’ve–”
“Well, I didn’t. And I’m not a fucking kid.” You spit out the words. His eyes immediately darken as you raise your voice. Bright cherry to rich blood.
Miguel rolls his shoulders back from annoyance and briefly closes his eyes. Irritated. You seem to always irritate him. His jaw is tight, and right under his full top lip you can almost make out– “What did I say about interrupting me?” He’s seething, head tilted slightly as pushes away from his desk and off the platform to you.
His deep voice is so low that you swear you can feel it surrounding you, vibrating the warm air that clings to the thin treads of your suit. “You’re so…” His fists clenched tightly and tension rolls off of him, crashing into you like a wave. “Difficult.” You try to stay brave and hold your head up, unwilling to cower under his superficial anger. “So fucking irritating.”
This is getting nowhere.
“So that’s why you called me in, hm?” Your voice comes out more breathless than you intended, but really, it’s his fault. This whole time he’s been inching closer and closer to you, taking up all your space. “To call me petty names? Tell me all the things that are wrong with me?” You have to crane your neck to maintain eye contact with him, he’s so close.
“No.” He drawls the word, his voice deep and muffled. Then you realize. His fangs. The stark change of the air in the room was enough to make your breath hitch. You suddenly feel trapped.
“I brought you here,” There are only a couple of inches separating your chest from touching his and you swear you can feel his body heat radiating off of him, almost simmering under his suit. “To teach you a lesson.” He leans down slightly, closing in the height distance between the two of you. You haven’t been this close to him since that night.
“W-what kind of lesson?”
“The kind that’ll persuade you to follow the rules.” Your knees nearly buckle as each word is lightly whispered next to your ear. He keeps his hands to himself, but it still feels like he’s wrapping himself around you. “To listen to me. Like a good girl.” Just as your body begins to mirror his and lean into his space, he backs up and strolls back to his desk.
Your eyes instantly lower and stay locked onto his spotless steel floors as you listen to him slowly walk away. You feel your face heat in embarrassment as you become more self-aware of the way your body reacted to him. He hadn’t even touched you.
“Come here.” Your head tilts up slightly at the sound of his voice. He’s sitting back on his desk chair, legs spread confident and inviting as he watches you watch him through hungry eyes. He can tell your mind is brimming with overlapping thoughts as you decide whether to listen to him or not.
Some part of you worries you’re being lured into a trap. That O’Hara, one of the least genuine people you know, is playing with you. But your body doesn’t really seem to care, already moving until your ankles meet the edge of the barely floating platform. The air around you is cool and empty without his presence. Your body craves more of  Miguel’s natural heat.
“...Closer.” You shuffle over until you’re a couple of feet away, fingers twisting together with uncertainty. He’s looking at you, leering at you. Virtually devouring you with that scarlet stare of his. If he wanted, he could reach over and pull you closer, eliminating the space between you, but he decidedly doesn’t, clearly wanting you to come to him.
“Don’t worry, honey, I don’t bite – oh wait,” He grins at his own joke, fangs proudly poking out from under his plump lips. You don’t realize how hard you're biting your lip until it starts to seriously sting. Your teeth release your aching lip and his gaze follows the action before meeting your eyes.
“Unless you want me to.” You haven’t uttered a word in a while and you don’t really want to. You’re completely content to continue to soak in the words that slip from his tongue. “Do you?”
Yes.
“Do I…”
“...want me to bite you.” He openly runs his soft tongue over the contours of his fangs.
Yes.
“B-bite…?”
“Mhm. Make you all numb and pliant for me?” He finally reaches over and gently tugs you closer by your arm. You let him. “That what you want, hermosa?” Your body slots seamlessly in the space between his thighs. His face cradles perfectly into the crook of your neck. You sigh, subconsciously leaning closer as his tender lips hover sweetly over your covered throat.
He whispers, barely audible against your skin, “Promise it’ll only hurt for a second.”
Yes.
“Yes.”
He doesn’t waste any time.
A hand drifts up your arm to the flexible collar of your suit. He tugs it down lightly, revealing your bare skin to the cool air. It’s not enough for him. With a hushed tear, he uses a claw to split the fabric down to the top of your shoulder, giving him more access to your body. He pushes your hair back and nudges himself closer to you, nose nestling where your neck meets your shoulder. He breathes you in. “Sweet.” His voice barely carries with how soft he says it.
The balmy heat of his breath sweeps along the side of your neck before his lips finally connect. His hands trail against your waist, slowly caressing you as he slowly presses kisses into your skin, trailing his lips down until he finds the spot. You tilt your head to the side as you feel the light scratch of his fangs.
“Hold on to me, baby.” Your gloved hands grip his thick forearms. He bites down.
It hurts in the beginning like you thought it would. Like he said it would. You try to disguise your wince, but you can’t stop the way your body flinches at the sensation. It’s intense, the sharp pain, and it spreads, traveling down from your neck to your toes.
And then, something clicks. It vanishes. That ache gets replaced with an endless warmth that relaxes every muscle in your body. Your hands, once clenched around Miguel, begin to loosen so the only thing that’s holding you up is him.
Everything touching your skin feels amazing. The heat of his hands. The suit that's starting to slowly fall down your shoulder.
Your eyes glaze over with pleasure as you watch him pull away from your body to look at you. His tongue pokes out, swiping over his bottom lip to collect the mixture of residual venom and your blood. Are you bleeding? You lean closer and your hands reach out for his shoulders.
“That good, hm?” Even his voice feels good.
You use his solid form to keep you steady as you boldly crawl onto his lap, “Really, really, good.” He hums and you feel his chest vibrate against yours. His arms easily wrap around your form as he waits patiently for you to get comfortable on top of him.
In this moment you realize how this will change everything. And you’re not talking about the bit.-- Ok, not just the bite.
It’s seeing him like this that flips your world. Feeling his touch. The gentle way he holds you against him and the patient way he lets your fingers trail down his strong chest until you’ve decided you’ve had enough. He makes you feel special. Wanted. Everything that you’ve craved since you followed him here. The same thing he offered you before taking it away.
So you’re scared. You don’t know if you could ever let this go because you know you’ll always yearn for moments like this. If he pushes you away again…
The fog in your head dissipates and it’s like you’re waking up. You catch his eye and his brows furrow. He senses something’s wrong. His hand cradles yours and gives you a comforting squeeze.
“What is it?”
“Don’t leave me.”
“What do you mean?” His eyes are sincere as they try to read your crestfallen expression.
“Just…” You exhale slowly and rest your forehead against his shoulder. “Don’t do this then walk away, Miguel.” Your words hang in the air for a few seconds as he takes them in.
Great, you ruined the mood. “Look, Miguel, I–” He softly lifts your head and leans in to press his forehead against yours. You’re so close he could probably feel your eyelashes brush against his cheeks.
“Sweetheart, I’m not going anywhere.” He draws you in and kisses you deeply, taking your breath away with his tender touch. It feels like a promise like he’s signing the dotted line of your heart. “I’m yours.” It’s whispered against your lips when he pulls back and you can help the grin that sprouts from his words. He matches it.
“Yeah?”
You’re pulled back in, “Mhm…” Muffled, but absolute.
Kissing Miguel is exactly how you imagined it to be: addictive.
Maybe it’s the residual venom left on his tongue, but the way he moves against you, mouth and body, makes your legs tremble. Makes you ache for him.
You melt against him, drunk on his taste and leaning in for more. His hands go from cradling your face and delicately tracing your neck to massaging your thighs, hands practically draping over you with the size difference.
He delicately licks into your mouth, greedily taking in every aspect of your taste. Your lips vibrate excitingly when his tongue brushes against them, they’re super sensitive from how long he’s been working them.
You feel him under you, nestled achingly against your ass. He throbs eagerly every time you let out a breathless sigh or a muffled moan. You’re no better. You swear you already have a wet spot ruining your suit from all the times he ‘accidentally’ grips his claws into the curve of your hips.
You whimper quietly when you feel the sharp point of his fang drags ever so slightly across your bottom lip. As he moves downwards, it delicately tugs at it, briefly revealing the bottom row of your teeth before releasing it. He moves his mouth along the line of your jaw and then focuses on the sensitive bite he left to bloom red and purple on your neck.
With his hands back on your waist, he starts to lick up the small droplets of blood that were staining trails down your shoulder. It stings wonderfully as he laves against it, cleaning the red off your smooth skin. You can’t help but to cry out as he begins to suck at your sensitive skin, it’s a bit more intense than you were expecting, but it feels really good. He blows cool air on it when he releases your skin, soothing the new mark he’s left on you.
His mouth is back on yours, letting you taste your own blood as your tongues intermingle with fervor. Fingers tug at the front of your suit to pull you impossibly closer as your teeth nash against one another. You hear a faint rip between you as his grip tightens and pulls at the stretchy material. Your skin quickly reacts as the cool air wraps around you, arms prickling with goosebumps and nipples tightening into hard buds.
You both pull back and look down at the damage. Your suit is split down the middle of your torso, revealing everything from your heaving chest to your belly button. Your body ignites with heat when you notice how his crimson eyes drink you in. A soft growl vibrates from his chest.
“Miguel, this is the only suit I have.”
“My bad.” Zero remorse in his voice. Asshole.
He abruptly grabs both of your wrists and pulls them behind you with one hand causing you to arch your back, inevitably giving him a better look. “God, you’re sexy.” His other hand slowly molds over your waist and smooths it upwards to grasp your tit with a playful squeeze. Using his gloved thumb, he teases the soft peak of your nipple, flicking it once just to hear you gasp. He does it once more, grinning (with his fangs cutely poking out) when you react the same way.
“Miguel…” You whine out, pouting at his teasing.
He idly drags his claws down your stomach, enjoying the way your breath hitches when he gets closer to your center. “You always go without a bra under there?”
“It’s a tight suit.”
“It is…” His hand trails down to your inner thigh and you shift slightly, leaning back so he can touch exactly where you need him. He gets the hint and gently cups you over your damp suit. “And here…?”
Your bottom lip tucks into your mouth as you look up at him, nodding softly. “And there.”
You’re suddenly being carried by Miguel, weight supported by his strong arms. You have to quickly wrap your arms around his neck to keep yourself from falling backward. He hurriedly takes you over to his desk and sets you down at the edge of the waist-level table.
He is so tall that you struggle a bit to keep your hold around his neck so you settle your hands back on his chest. You push at his firm figure and sit back to fully take him in. “And how about you?”
“Me?”
“Do you wear anything under that unbearably tight suit?”
“I do, actually. Wanna see?”
You’ve heard the rumors of Miguel’s nano-suit, but you’re still perplexed when he grabs his interdimensional watch from the desk next to you. He clicks a couple of holographic buttons and you watch in awe as his suit seems to dissolve off of him, one particle at a time, like it never existed in the first place. The fading red and navy reveal his perfectly muscled body, somehow making him look even bigger in front of you.
He did, in fact, have some briefs on under the suit, but it’s what’s under it that catches your attention. Your thighs clench together as you watch him set down the timepiece, his arm unintentionally flexing under the dim lighting.
Miguel returns to you and you spread your legs slightly so he can stand directly in front of you. You slowly reach out to him, palm to the skin, and soak in the natural heat of his body. You can feel his heart beating under his chest, slow and steady.
“You’re hot.”
He has that teasing grin back on his face, “Am I?”
“I mean…warm.”
He shrugs, “Us Spiders run hot.”
Miguel moves your hand off of him and sets it on the table before pushing his body closer to you, making your legs push out further. He leans in so close that you have to slowly tilt your body back with him. “Bet you’re warmer.”
He shifts your body further onto the table and then starts working on the rest of your suit. It tears easily from your body, scraps falling to the floor until you’re fully bare in front of him. You pant as you watch him and feel your center pulse in reaction to his rough handling. “There we are.” His voice is soothing, but his eyes flash dangerously. You arch your back slightly as his claws scrape lightly over your stomach to your most sensitive area. You don’t even have to look down to know you’re dripping, you can feel it all over your inner thighs.
His fingers glide over your glistening lips, spreading your eager wetness leisurely. His claws are gone. You watch his face as he stares at his actions, his hungry eyes dark with lust. You both groan when one finger dips in, pushing gently against your entrance. You’re practically gushing around him as he starts to move, wet sounds accompanying each thrust. A string of slick follow his hand as he pulls away and it drips carelessly on your flushed thigh. With hooded eyes, Miguel holds up his dripping finger, “Open.” You suck on him enthusiastically, holding his gaze as it’s slipped into your mouth. “Fuck.”
His briefs are shoved down his muscular thighs before you can look down and you’re shoved roughly onto your back. You feel his claws dig into your thighs as he spreads you out for him, pushing them back until they're next to your waist. His warm hardness slides against your weeping pussy, covering him in slick as he prepares himself.
Your breath hitches as his cock pushes inside of you, nearly stretching you to your limit. You try your best to take deep breaths, but it’s hard when you can literally feel each inch sinking into your body. A throaty groan rumbles in his chest as he feels you involuntarily clench around him, invariably sucking him in further. His eyes are almost glowing with how bright red they are. “Relax for me baby, I’m almost in.”
Your thighs tremble under his hands as he continues to plunge in deeper, unable to keep up with all the stimulants surrounding you. The feeling of him dragging against your walls is exquisite and you can barely hold yourself back from cumming right there.
Then he starts moving.
His hips drag back, pulling almost all the way out before he buries himself back inside of you. Your head tilts back with pleasure and your eyes squeeze shut, you can’t even tell what you’re holding on to. He keeps this slow pace, body nearly engulfing you as he hovers above. A moan follows each thrust as he fucks you into his desk.
When your eyes are finally able to flutter back open, you meet his stare. You quickly attempt to hide your face with your arm, too embarrassed to hold eye contact with him while he’s using your body like this. He doesn’t like that.
Your wrists are forced above you and then expertly webbed together to hold them there. His red webs pulse hot around your wrists. Unlike the traditional webs that tend to feel like cool lace, his are warm, like fingers wrapping tightly around your wrists, almost thrumming with soft heat in a way that makes them feel alive.
You yelp when his hand tugs sharply at the hair at the nape of your neck, forcing your gaze as he moves over you. “Look at me, baby.” You listen. He begins to aim his thrusts upwards into you, nudging against that special spot inside of you. And as hard as you try to keep looking at him, your eyes inevitably roll back as he hits it so precisely. You faintly see stars.
You cry out as heat blooms your center and your thighs close around his hips, tightening as a spark swarms in your lower belly. “That’s it, baby,” He speeds up, feeling you start to clench around him, “let go.”
Your vision blurs when your climax blasts through your body. Hot tears spill from the intensity of the feeling, creating hot trails of wetness over your cheeks. “Such a pretty little thing." He wipes them away lovingly. Your body jerks with pleasure and Miguel has to hold your waist down as your back starts to arch off the desk.
He doesn’t stop. If anything, he starts fucking you harder, letting his body weight hold you in place as he chases his own high. You whine against his neck, skin sticky with sweat, as he roughly ruts into you. “Be mine, baby, and I’ll take care of you forever.” His claws dig into your web-pasted wrists as he works himself into you, post-orgasm slick smothered carelessly over the both of you. “I promise.” He whispers breathlessly next to your ear.
“Please.” The word is nearly stuck in your throat as he continues to take everything your body is willing to give him. He’s basically grinding his cock into you now, wanting you as close as possible for these last moments. You barely hear it but he whimpers against your shoulder as he starts to draw closer to his climax, desperately rutting his hips against you.
With a choked-out groan, his movements grow sloppy and he thrusts deep inside of you a few more times. You feel the warmth of him as he spills inside of you, filling you up to the brim. He’s panting above you, body weight nearly smothering yours. You love it.
He slowly pulls out once he’s calmed down, eyes locked onto your leaking center that’s full of a mixture of you and him. His fingers lovingly spread his cum over your pussy and you flinch as he slides against your sensitive clit. You give him a look of disapproval which he ignores as he pushes his mess back inside of you.
“Will you let me out of these now?” You pull at the webs, still holding your arms above you.
“Hm…I think I’ll keep you there for a little bit longer.”
His office is like a bat cave when you’re barely dressed. There’s a slight breeze in the office (you have no clue where it’s coming from) that’s making it particularly drafty. You force Miguel to huddle over you like some oversized puffer jacket as it was his fault the only clothes you came with are lying on the floor in scraps.
“How am I supposed to leave when my suit is in tatters?”
His arms hold you tighter, “You aren’t. You’re staying with me.”
“Miguel, people are probably looking for us by now.”
“I don’t care.”
“Miguel.”
“Alright, fine. You can borrow one of my nano-suits, but we’re going to my place.”
“Dude, you’re like 6’3”, how am I supposed to fit into one of those?”
He tsks, “Really? You’re calling me ‘dude’ after all of this?” He grabs his watch again, scrolling through some settings. “It’s nano-tech, sweetheart, it fits what I want it to fit.” He dials the size down, letting you watch as the hologram shrinks to display your general size. “And I’m 6’7.”

then it all just comes to a breaking point where one of them is acting off/distance and they have a fight about it until they confess to the other that they’re in love with the other and it hurts too much to be around them and that leads to smut 🫶🏽

“So, we have her favorite flowers booked, we have her favorite food, anything else?” Gwen looks up from her clipboard that was meant to make her look more professional. She and Carter, a guy that pushed his way into your friend group, along with Alia and Jamison, all had a bet on when the hell this was going to happen.
Gwen placed two weeks, and Alia was already out because she said three days, while Carter said one week and Jamison a week and a half. The winner would have your child named after them; it was a good bet.
“Do we have her favorite songs lined up?” Peter was chewing on his thumb, anxiously walking back and forth on the roof of his apartment. “And-”
“Peter, you’re overreacting so much,” Gwen says laughing, holding up her clipboard. “I already have everything ready! You have no need to worry about anything, I got the flowers, the lights, the food, everything! It’s going to be perfect.” She looks down at her watch, nodding. “Now, it’s almost eight-”
Peter quickly looks down at his phone, gasping. “Holy shit, I was supposed to meet Y/N at seven for movie night! I’ll see you later, Gwen, thank you!”
He grabs his bag, jumping off the roof and shooting a web out to catch him.
“Go get her bug boy!” Gwen yells as Alia comes behind her, biting into one of your favorite candy bars.
“You think they’ll fuck?”
“I highly doubt it.”
It didn’t take Peter long to get to the fire escape of your apartment, settling himself onto the railing to watch your scrunched face stare down at a physics worksheet. You mumbled softly, flipping through your notes and pushing up your glasses before slamming your head down onto your desk.
It makes Peter wince as you groan loudly, quickly pushing up your window making you look back with a gasp. “Y/N, I’m so sorry I’m late, I was with Gwen-”
“Peter, what are you doing here?!” You whisper yelled, quickly standing and pushing against his chest. “You need to leave! Now!”
“What? Why?” He looked down at his suit, more specifically where your hands were on his chest before he heard more footsteps. “Is someone here?”
“Peter, leave! Now!” You pushed him out the window, quickly closing and locking it before shutting the curtains.
“I brought us some snacks!” A voice says, Peter peeking into your room in the slight exposition of the curtains. “So, strawberries or cheese? Or both, like in Ratatouille?”
You giggle, walking toward the form, Peter almost growling when he saw Henry’s pretty face and blond hair. “You know, strawberries and cheese aren’t that bad. I’ve tried it before.”
“Oh yeah?” Henry laughs. “How about we watch Ratatouille and reminisce instead of doing physics?”
You laugh. “Oh, I wish. What about we get some work done and then we watch Ratatouille?”
Henry nods, plopping onto your bed in the same space Peter always did making his fists clench. “I’ve never been good at physics.”
You giggle, shaking your head as you spin your chair around. “Me either.”
He hummed, rubbing his chin. “What about your friend? Parker? He’s good at physics, isn’t he?”
Your eyes flicker toward the window, Peter raising a brow as he nods his head in agreement. “His name is Peter,” you stand, quickly shutting the curtain correctly. “And yes, he is sickeningly good at physics.”
“Why don’t we call him up?” Henry opens his binder, humming. “I’m sure he could help.”
Your brow ruffled when the doorbell rings, quickly standing. “Who could that be?”
“Let’s hope it’s Peter,” Henry laughs as he follows behind you, your pretty apartment organized chaos.
When you open your door, your face falls when you see Peter in his clothes, obviously messy like he changed coming down the stairs (which he did, thank you), a smile on his face. “Hey, Y/N.”
“Peter!” Henry says, smiling. “You’re here!”
“I am,” Peter tries not to make his voice sound completely and utterly annoyed. “Got a sense that someone might need my physics powers.”
“Well, your sense was wrong,” you said immediately, Henry laughing.
“No, it was right. It really was.”
“You gonna let me in?” Peter asks as you glared up at him.
“Henry, I think it might be best if we continue this another day. You have to be home by eight thirty anyways, right?” You look back at the blonde boy who looked down at his very expensive watch.
“Oh, where did the time go! Yes, I’ll see you tomorrow night?” He starts walking toward your room, Peter taking that as his chance to sneak in.
“Yes!” You yelled back, shoving Peter who barely budged thanks to his new abilities. “Tomorrow night sounds good!”
Henry comes walking back out, bag over his shoulder. “Perfect,” he smiles at Peter. “Maybe I’ll see you before then, Parker! Hopefully we can get some physics done, my mom is making pot roast that is literally to die for so I need to get back.”
“Ooo, pot roast,” Peter says all posh like Henry does, and you roll your eyes instead of laughing like you normally would. “That sounds so good. You can’t miss that, Henry.”
“Right!” Henry laughs, turning to you. “I’ll see you tomorrow night?”
You nodded. “That sounds great, Henry,” you say as he slowly walks out, slowly closing the door before Henry quickly puts his hand between the door and the frame. “Yes?”
“I uhm… have a good night, Y/N.”
You inhale shakily, smiling. “You… you too, Henry.” Slowly, you close the door and lock it before turning around, jumping when you see Peter. “Peter!”
“What’s going on tomorrow night?”
You scoffed. “Henry’s taking me out on a date.”
Peter froze, quickly fixing his glasses as though his vision would affect his hearing. “What?”
You rolled your eyes. “You heard me. He’s taking me out tomorrow night to a restaurant his father owns.”
Peter shakes his head. “I… we have plans tomorrow night, Y/N.” Tomorrow was the night, you couldn’t not come on the night.
You shake your head back, crossing your arms. “Well, I thought you’d be late to that like you were today.”
Peter scoffs, rubbing his chin. “I was late one time, Y/N! You know I always come!”
You put your finger out, wiggling it toward him. “No! No, it wasn’t one time! It’s been every day for the past three weeks, you’re late to class and you say, ‘Sorry Y/N, I was with Gwen’, or study halls, ‘Sorry Y/N, I got caught up with Gwen’, or something with Gwen fucking Stacy! If want to hang out with her, you hand out with her, but don’t make plans with me whenever you’re going to be late or you don’t fucking show up at all!”
He didn’t stand you up that many times, did he? He goes through all of them, wincing slightly. Maybe he had stood you up a lot.
The room was silent as you inhaled shakily, rubbing your face with your palms. “Just… I need to finish my homework. You wasted my time arguing with me about something I’ve told you about for the past week.”
Peter’s face scrunches. “You haven’t told me about going on a fucking date with Henry fucking Ford.”
“His name is Henry Baltimore!” You yelled at him once again, covering your mouth. You had yelled more at Peter tonight more than you ever had before. “You would know that if you would read your fucking texts. Now, I need you to leave before I say something I can’t take back.”
Peter shakes his head, quickly coming in front of you. “No, Y/N, please. Please, I’m sorry, I’m sorry. Don’t go, don’t go out with him tomorrow night. I need to tell you something important.”
You shake your head, inhaling shakily as you press your face into your hands to hide your teary eyes from him. What was he going to tell you, that he and Gwen were dating?
“Peter, I don’t want to see you, please leave.”
He shakes his head, holding your shoulders. “No, I’m not leaving, I’m not-”
You shoved him, gasping in air to hold back your tears. “Peter, get the fuck out!” He inhaled deeply as you wipe at your cheeks, sniffling. “Y/N-”
“Peter, I’m not going to tell you again. Get out.”
Slowly, Peter walks toward the door as you stand there, arms cradling your own body as you try to control your breathing. He doesn’t say anything as he opens the door, looking back at you as you breathed shakily. “Y/N,” he says softly, but you shake your head, refusing to look back at him. “I just… I’m sorry.”
You shake your head, grabbing the blanket from the couch. “Lock the door on your way out, and leave the key under the door.”
Your heart aches as he does exactly what you said, but what else could he do? You wanted him to do one thing but told him another, how could he know what you wanted him to do?
Peter kneels down slowly, slipping the key back under your apartment door before that special tingle comes in. “What do you want?”
He slowly stood and turned around, sighing when he saw Henry. “Oh uhm… I-I left my charger.”
Peter nods slightly, holding back a scoff. How the hell do you forget a charger? “Right.”
“Peter?” Henry says as he starts to walk away, pausing. “You… you’re in love with her, aren’t you?”
The one time the stereotypical jock had to be smart, the one fucking time.
“You just… you treat her right and I won’t kill you.”
You were going to kill Peter Parker. Henry called you an hour before your date after you spent hours getting ready, hoping to have the pretty dress you spent good fucking money on ripped off at most three hours into the date and the makeup you spent hours on ruined by the morning.
But no, Peter, Peter fucking Parker bad to ruin it all — all of it.
“I’m sorry, Y/N, I really think you should talk to Parker before you go on a date with me. If nothing changes, I’m here.”
Changes? What the fuck was going to change?
You banged on the door, your knuckles burning as you looked down at the pink dress dotted with hand sewed strawberries all over, especially on the pink area of the corset. You did not spend almost two hundred dollars on a dress (with matching lingerie) to not have it ripped off.
When Gwen opened the door, she gasped. “You’re here!” She looked down at her watch. “And early! Why aren’t you on the roof-”
“Where is he?”
Gwen pauses when she hears your voice, slowly letting you inside as you stomped toward his room, unknowingly following the path of red rose petals.
“Hey Y/N- Y/N?!” Carter was shocked to see you before you opened Peter’s door, looking around before groaning and slamming the door.
“Peter! I know you’re in here! What the hell did you do, Henry called and canceled on me!”
You continue to turn around, gasping when you see him kneeling down in front of you. This was not happening.
“What… what are you doing?”
“We-Well uhm,” he quickly stands, fixing his suit. Peter never wore a suit. “That was probably too formal, the kneeling, but uhm-”
“Peter,” you say finally, inhaling. “Hurry up and say what you were going to say.”
He slips his hand into his pocket, slowly taking out a velvet box. “I’m sorry- I’m sorry it took me so long, I am, I just wanted it to be perfect.” He opened it slowly, a thin silver band with a diamond in the center making you gasp. “It’s just… I didn’t know what to do. You said, you said you always wanted a promise ring and-”
“Hurry up, Peter!” You almost screeched, quickly covering your mouth as he smiled, his pretty whiskey eyes looking up at you.
“Well, do you want me to kneel down or-”
You cupped his face, quickly pulling him down to kiss you, humming as his hands quickly found their place at your hips. You could feel the pressure of the small box, slowly stepping back as he follows obediently, groaning against your lips before the back of your knees bump against his mattress. Slowly, he pulls away just enough to press the velvet box into your hand.
His cheeks are red as he brushes his nose against yours, humming. “Is that a yes?”
You nodded, gasping as he slipped the ring onto your finger before setting down the box. He inhaled shakily as he lifted your hand to press against his lips. “I hope this is okay. We’ve been friends for years and-”
“Dammit, just shut up, Peter.”
You pulled him down to kiss you making him rush to put his own ring on push you down against the bed, groaning as his fingers rub against the satin ribbon keeping your dress on your body. “H-How the hell do you undo this-”
“Just pull it, you need to untie it,” you giggled, sitting up just enough for him to tug on the string and press kisses to your skin. “Peter, Peter fuck-”
“I know, honey, I can feel you,” he whispered, body already shaking. He could feel every little thing you did, he could hear every sharp breath you took as his fingers trail over your back and finally untie your dress and the cold hits your skin. “I can feel everything you do.”
Most of all, he could feel how aroused you were. He could smell it, as weird as that sounded, a sweet aroma filling his nose as he kissed into your neck and the small sparks that traveled through his fingers.
He pulls it down to your waist, hissing as you lift your hips into his just enough so he can pull it down your body, but the feeling of your body so close to his makes his eyes roll back. Your hands start to tug on his blazer before he can even finish pulling down your dress, pulling away from his lips to let out a soft whine.
“Peter, please, please-”
“I know honey, I know,” he whispers back, pulling off his blazer before he is able to focus on your body. You didn’t have a bra on, of course you didn’t because your top was a corset, but the amount of exposed skin made him stop. “Holy shit.”
“Peter, you have way too much clothes on.”
He nods frantically, quickly obeying your not so subtle command, unbuttoning his shirt before you pull him down for another kiss, humming against his lips. Your fingers push into his slacks, a whine leaving his mouth as you pull out his shirt to finish taking it off, his hands going behind his back to grab the cuffs and pull it off.
The kisses were hot, your tongue pushed into his mouth as he groaned loudly, his hands cupping your face as your own press along his chest. He pulled away just a bit for breath, letting his eyes trail along your body before your hands pressed against his chest, stroking along all of his scars.
You were the one who healed the wounds before the scars, it was only right you were the one who kissed them afterwards. With that thought, your lips pressed to the waxy skin as his hands started to undo his belt, thankful for the fact he hadn’t been able to put on his shoes.
Oh but yours, the pretty white platform heels that had to have been more than four inches and the Velcro strap around your ankles really made him want to put them around his waist, or over his shoulders — whichever came first.
“Peter?” You whisper, his eyes quickly flashing to yours. You gasped, his pupils wide as he stared at you, his hands shaky. “Are you okay?”
“It’s just…” he whispers, shaking his head as he pulls his pants and boxers off, inhaling deeply. “I’ve been wanting to do this for so long. It’s my first time after… you know, and I swear I can feel everything.”
“Everything?” You swallow, gasping as your cunt clenched around nothing, his eyes rolling back as he slowly begins to pump his cock.
“Everything.”
You shiver as he slowly pressed his head against your pretty lace underwear, the pink fabric embellished with strawberries embroidered onto it. He inhaled as he watched the beads of precum spread across the lace, groaning loudly.
This couldn’t have been for Henry, no. This was for him and him only, he was going to make sure of it.
“This was for that preppy mother fucker?” He almost growls, leaning down to slowly slip the panties down your thighs. He certainly would have kept them on if he wasn’t planning on absolutely devouring you.
“Peter, h-he’s not-”
“Important?” Peter suggests, kissing against your plush thighs before groaning against your skin. “Gonna make you forget his fucking name.”
Your eyes rolled back as he slowly slipped his fingers down your slit, smearing your wetness up to your clit as your eyes rolled back, gasping as his fingers firmly rub circles onto your sensitive bud. It makes you whine as he gets faster, watching as it starts to get swollen and puffy.
He groaned, leaning down to press open mouth kisses to your lower lips, sucking and tugging with his teeth as his fingers rubbed faster against your clit. He could feel you squirming under him, hands tugging his hair as you whined loudly. “Peter, Peter please-”
“Please what? Hm?” He teased you, smiling as your hips buckled. “What do you want?”
You whined loudly, the sound making the hairs on his neck stick up as he groaned into your cunt. “I-Inside, please inside-”
He hummed, his fingers slowly teasing around the tight ring of muscle. “You want what inside? What, hm?”
“Y-You, any of you, all of you!” Your voice is loud, eyes rolling back as he slowly pushes in a finger. You moaned loudly, the feeling almost foreign because you haven’t had sex or touched yourself in a long time. “Fuck!”
His finger is long and thick, curling inside of you and he could feel that tough part inside of you. He stroked it, watching as your eyes rolled back and he started to thrust his finger, pulling in and out joint by joint before pushing in until his knuckles pressed against your wet cunt. You screamed out, whining as your hips rode his digits.
“You’re so desperate,” he whispers, lips latching onto your clit and sucking loudly. He could feel your nails digging into his scalp with another whine. “What do you want, hm? Another one?”
He watched you nod, hips bucking. “Yes. Yes, I want another one, please!”
Slowly, he pushed another in, watching as you whined loudly. He could feel your body spark in slight pain and discomfort, so he lets them stay still for a minute as you panted softly. “You okay?”
You nod, humming as you slowly move a hand to his cheek. “I’m perfect, Peter. More than perfect.” He smiled, slowly thrusting his fingers to hear a mewl fall from your lips. “Fuck!”
He laughs at the pretty curse falling from your mouth, something too foul and disgusting dripping from your pretty lips humoring him. “Don’t be rude now,” he says immediately, his other hand firmly rubbing against your puffy clit. “I won’t be so nice if you start getting mouthy on me.”
You shake your head. “I won’t, I’m sorry, please please-”
He starts to thrust his fingers, eyes rolling back as he stares at your scrunched up face covered in makeup. As much as he hated the thought of ruining your pretty mascara, eyeliner, and eyeshadow with painted strawberries on it, he wanted nothing more than to ruin it.
He pushed your clit between his fingers, sucking hard as you squirmed before he moved his hand just a bit to press against your pelvis. “Behave, bug.”
The nickname made you whine, your hand continuing to tug on his hair as he pressed firm kissed down your slit, thrusting his fingers in and out of you as the other rubbed firm circles into your clit and your walls clamping and clenching around his digits made him moan out and rut his hips into the bed.
“You want another, darling? Hm? I think you’re going to need it for me, honey, truly.”
You nodded, gasping as he slowly pushed another one in and thrusts his fingers slowly, watching your body writhe under him. He inhaled sharply at the feeling, groaning out as he kissed against your leaking cunt. Your hips buck up into his fingers, whines falling from your lips before shaking your head. “Peter, Peter! Peter, I want you- please. Please, need you now-”
He laughs. “What, you don’t want me to finish stretching you out? You just want to feel my cock?”
You nodded, tugging his head back. “Yes. Yes, yes please!”
Slowly, he pulled but his fingers, sucking and kissing against your entrance before pushing his fingers into his mouth. “You just want to be stretched out by me, don’t you?”
You nodded, gasping as he sat up and kneeled over your body. He takes his cock that was leaking precum drip out steadily as he pumped himself and watched it slowly spurt onto your cunt. It makes you whine as he slathers it around with his tip, pushing it down your slit before pushing his head into your cunt.
He watched your eyes roll back, a groan falling from his lips before he ruts his hips deeper into you. You whine, hands quickly rubbing against his back before your nails dig into his skin. He let out a shaky moan, groaning loudly as he pressed a kiss to your head. “Fucking hell, darling, you’re so tight. So, so tight.”
You squirm. “Feels good, feels so good,” you say, gasping as he starts to thrust, whining loudly. “Oh! Holy shit, don’t stop, don’t stop!”
He groaned into your neck, cursing as he held himself up by his hands and rolled his hips. “Fuck, fuck baby, barely been in for a minute and I’m already going to cum. You’re so fucking tight around me, I can barely breathe.”
You nod repeatedly, your head shaking as you pull him lower. “Please, please, inside. Don’t pull out, I don’t want you to pull out.”
His eyes rolled back as he choked, your walls tight as he started to thrust harder and harder, the bed slamming into the wall. Your nails scratch against his back, sobs of pleasure falling from your lips as his cock drags against your walls and hits that spot inside of you that makes your body shake. Your hips almost instinctively rolled into his own, desperate for more before he pulled your legs around him, the cold faux leather and your heavy platforms settling against his lower back.
“Fuck, fuck baby,” he whispers, almost growling as his thrusts get harder and unhinged, your body bouncing withe every test. “Fucking hell!”
You moaned his name over and over, the only thing calling from your mouth Peter, Peter, Peter… like a mantra, whines most likely interrupting every syllable. He could feel every twitch of your fingers, every clench of your cunt, every breath against his neck as he pressed kisses to your shoulder.
He dragged his tongue along your skin, teasing his teeth against you before sucking. He could feel your chest against his, your stuttering breath before you pulled him up for a kiss and your fingers shakily ran through his hair. He almost whimpered, hips moving faster before you clamp down on him with a loud moan and a creamy ring enveloping his cock.
His hips stutter, loud moans falling from your lips before he inhales deeply and thrusts into you as deep as he could, screaming out your name as he comes inside.
His eyes roll back, broken moans leaving his lips as you breathe shakily, hands rubbing against his cheeks. “It took you long enough.”
Peter smiles. “Yeah, it did, didn’t it? You know… I was always with Gwen because she and the rest of them were helping me plan this.”
You gasped, looking back. “You think they heard?”
“Yes! Yes, we did! Everything! The cumshot too!”

You win some and you lose some (Alenoah)
Growing up, Alejandro was a I always win type of child. There was no losing. There was no throwing on purpose. There wasn’t a bigger picture. Only winning. Come forth grade, he started to see how boosting classmates' egos could in turn boost their opinion of him. And, by product, give him a leg up in both school and social status.
He was on top of the world. A few gifts and charming compliments netted him every student of the year award on top of about a dozen others.
Freshman year though. That almost really humbled him. There were a few bothers, that he got rid of rather quickly. Students the teachers seemed to like just a little too much. Kids whose grades he needed to strike down early, and eliminate the possible enemy later.
Everything was fine. And then it wasn’t.
Noah showed up sophomore year and appeared to have a special talent for flying under the radar. Until he started taking the places of Alejandro’s name in the morning announcements. In almost every aspect that didn’t involve sports.
That year, they didn’t share any classes. Alejandro almost never ran into the boy. Only saw a couple flops of his overgrown hair in the hallway in between classes. (He looked him up online, then, when that yielded no results, searched through neighboring highschool yearbooks.)
The next year, Noah was in every single one of his AP classes. And he didn’t give a single shit about any of Alejandro’s advances. Responded coldly when Alejandro forced his signature friendly smile. Put his headphones in when Alejandro greeted him in the halls. He didn’t react to flirting.
So, for the first time in his life, Alejandro started working harder. There was someone he couldn’t beat. Someone he couldn’t manipulate.
He paid attention. Learned his schedule. Learned what he ate for lunch. Learned who his friends were.
That got his attention. When Alejandro started fucking around with Owen and Eva. Flirted with Gwen and led on Leshawna, only to leave her in pieces.
It only seemed to motivate him more. It’s exhilarating.
Noah always seems to have a comeback. Always something to say. Always one step ahead or one step behind and Alejandro literally wakes in the morning trying to make sure that he is in the lead. Thinking up what he can say or do or be to throw him off.
Senior year and the race is too close to tell. All Alejandro knows is that it’s him or Noah. Third place is a whole .3 gpa behind and that’s not even a doable comeback at this point.
All he has to do is think, breathe, look, and speak Noah.
And then Courtney moves to town half way through the year. Her gpa is right there with them. 4.05. And she’s running for school president and interning at some fancy law office on the other side of town and her father has just as much pull as his own. And she wants nothing to do with anyone. A real Type-A good girl that has her sights set on Harvard.
And all of the sudden this isn’t fun anymore.
Alejandro and Noah team up. There’s no way this random girl can just wander in and steal their place for free. She needs a distraction. Something that will help her live a little.
And what better distraction than love? Someone to give her butterflies. Just enough to miss that one assignment and throw her out of the competition forever.
Gwen seems like the perfect candidate.
-
Academic rivals Alejandro and Noah team up to set Courtney with their friend Gwen and fall in love in the process.
(this is not my day 2 LMAO. I was just thinking about this and wanted to type it out)

{THIS IS A RANT} - Back at it again with the
ALL MY HOBIES HATE PETER B.
(Not a typo)
Tumblr media
Another rant where I talk about hating Peter B on every level in which my soul manifests
[Stop talking about if your parenting is good so help me fucking god this has nothing to do with you and lives are at stake]
The reason I find Miguel easier to defend than Peter B is because Miguel actually has actions to speculation about in the story.
Peter spent that whole movie talking about his baby, standing completely stationary while witnessing child abuse twice (he didn't nothing when Gwen was sent home) and then go home and talk about how he's sad cause he's not a good mentor and might not be 'good at this'
Like sir who the hell cares what youre good at A teenage girl just became homeless and Miles is being hunted by hundreds of adults
Can you give us more than 'I'm bad at this mentor stuff 😭😭😭'
Put MayDay in the crib and go get Gwen.
Or at the very least tell MJ. Tell MJ that the kid that inspired you to have MayDay is in mortal danger. Tell MJ that the reason you think you're a bad mentor is because MILES JUST GOT HIS ASS BEAT
Why is his thought after ALL THAT about himself abd only HIMSELF? And how he might be a bad mentor
Like yes, you are now that we've realized that glaring fact can you like.... Do something
ALSO YOU HAVEN'T SEEN MILES IN OVER A YEAR WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU WORRIED ABOUT THAT
'you don't know if he was going to go get gw-'
Exactly. Cause all he did was talk about himself.
'what if the society was supporting them financially-'
if you see your boss assault a child you should quit even if you make a million a month
'he ended up joining the team anyway'
Gwen, the teenager, the homeless teenager, shouldn't be the one coming to Peter's rescue right now it should be the other way around.
The only reason he joined at the end was because Hobie and Gwen made it super convenient for them.
Had Hobie not left Gwen the watch - and Gwen hadn't showed up -
We are given NO PROOF whatsoever that Peter would've joined them.
No verbal indication or anything.
We have no idea how long Peter would've stayed on Miguel's side had Gwen not approached him.
LITERALLY all Peter did this movie was show Miles baby pictures, tell him he has to let his dad die, accidentally get him caught because he's too stupid to turn off his TRACKING watch , watch Miles get his ass beat, then watch Gwen get her ass beat, then go home and talk about himself.
At least Miguel is having an emotional arc meanwhile Peter shows the emotional range of a bad day at the office despite the fact people he knows and cares about have been hurt in front of him by someone he knows and cares about.
And people still defend him.
HE DID NOTHING. THERE'S NOTHING TO DEFEND BUT HIS INACTION
I feel like so many people excuse his inaction and failure to 'he means well' - obviously not cause when you mean well you do well and he ain't do shit.
"What was he supposed to do?"
At the very least express concern of some sort about the two missing children in his life??
Put MayDay down and try to see if you can find Gwen?
At the very least mention the fact that his boss went apeshit - or Hell, talk about ANYTHING besides himself.
I don't know how people can see that and be like yeah he's cool. This is a competent man who cares about these kids
Like.... If you care and do nothing and make them do literally everything and help them none to the point you're actively leading danger to them because you can't think ahead all while clapping from the sidelines then who the fuck cares what you care about
You don't care enough to do something. So why would I care you're a bad mentor???????
At least Miguel is doing something and we can look deeper into his emotional arc and story and motive
Peter B gives literally nothing. Nothing. Contributes nothing to no one through the whole movie. Doesn't even do a cool Spidey move or anything. Jokes dry as hell -
FUCK I'm so salty why did the write him like a plank of wood why am I supposed to be okay with his WHY WHY WHY
Tumblr media
WANT ME TO CLAP AND SHIT MEANWHILE I'M LOOKING AT HIM LIKE
Tumblr media
What can he do that Noir, Pavitr, and Hobie can't? Like.... They can do everything he can???? With extra abilities,??? PENI HAS A MECH?? WHAT IS HE ADDING WHAT IS HE BRINGING WHAT IS HE SERVING
NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING
____________________________________________
Anyway if you made it this far he's a master list of all my posts where I talk about why a Peter is a horribly borderline irredeemable character.
Peter watching as Gwen is put in the machine, and says nothing besides a joke to defend her, before going home to talk about himself
Hobie doesn't like Peter so neither do I
Why I believe Peter purposely ratted Miles out - If Peter didn't know he was being tracked, why would she speak out loud and give herself away. She didn't. I believe Peter asked her to track them and she responded out loud not knowing Miles was right there.
Why even if he didn't rat Miles out, that's arguably worse - How do you forget the obvious tracker watch is obvious tracking you?
UHH SO YEAH FUCK PETER B ALL MY HOBIES HATE PETER B

you hated peter. you hated him with everything you had because even after hundreds of texts from you, his response was just leaving them on seen. it wasn’t his fault though. it was only a deal and you knew it. you hated peter parker because you loved him so much that you could barely hold in your feelings for him. everytime he passed you one of his dorky smiles, your heart would flip and you’d forgive all the wrongs he’d done which would lead to you being miserable all over again. it was a cycle.
you didn’t hate peter parker, you hated yourself.
it was a plan devised by himself to get together with gwen. he was the genius in your friendship, thus you went along with said plan, making a deal with your best friend that neither of you will have any feelings for each other.
but feelings don’t work on deals.
three weeks into peter’s stupid, stupid plan, and you could feel your cheeks heat every time he held your hand or wrapped an arm around your shoulder to pull you closer.
it was getting too real. it was all real to you.
but peter kept playing his part and every time his eyes wandered over to the girl he actually admired– gwen– you would hate him more because he would never love you just the way he did gwen.
you found the only way to solve your problem was to run from it in the end and started pulling away from peter. strand by strand, all of you was getting detached from him and along with you, your friendship, which hurt the most but by the time peter noticed, it was too late. when he confronted you, it felt like the person he was talking to wasn’t the same he knew since he was a kid who kept being teased for his ‘a’ grades and spent most time with you or his aunt may.
the distance between you too strengthened gradually and you built your walls so high that even peter, with his superpowers, couldn’t break them down. he felt like a part of him was missing, a very essential one at that.
peter knew you hated him, but that wouldn’t stop him from trying to get you back, even though you weren’t really his. he was so focused on making it up to you that he forgot his original plan and how he was supposed to impress gwen so she would like him back.
those three weeks had changed things for him too.
peter didn’t recall when he ended up in this new universe, though he did remember that he was on his way over, swinging to your favorite coffee shop to get your order just like he did occasionally when the two of you were “dating”.
now the two cups of coffee had dissipated from his hands into thin air and all he could feel was his senses going off, like a distress signal, and pulling him towards an unknown source.
he never thought he’d be able to meet two more peters, just like himself. he developed a bond with them pretty soon, feeling like they were his brothers, as if he’d known him since the very early days and he was very happy thinking that he’d helped them cure– another thing he thought he’d never be able to do– some of the craziest villains he’d ever met.
the second he returned back to the alley, around which the coffee shop was situated, he placed the coffee cups down from his hands and rushed to change his suit so that he could get to you, tell you all the things that happened within the expanse of the 24 hours he was in another universe and returning back to this one just minutes later.
when he finally saw you near your locker– you were in the middle of closing it– but before you could leave, peter approached you, stopping you by blocking your path. you looked up at him, confused as he muttered a greeting. it was only a few seconds later that peter understood that he owed you an explanation.
“i-i’m sorry for stopping you like that.”
“can i go then?” you said, seeming colder to peter than you ever had.
“there is something i need to tell you.” and as you took the cup of coffee from your hands, peter dragged you by the wrist, across the long hallway until you two were inside the music room, which was mostly empty this time of the day.
“parker, you better have a huge thing because i’m getting late!” you pointed a finger towards him, threatening the brunette.
“okay, so i’m spider-man, right.”
“you’re what.” you interjected but peter continued.
“so i don’t know how but i travelled to this new universe, which is so cool the multiverse is totally real, though i’m not sure i will be going back ever at all. and i met these crazy villains and this octopus guy that looked…” and your former best friend went on and on and on, making your eyes widen.
“peter!” you finally stopped him, placing both your hands over his shoulders, “shut up.”
“s-sorry.” he blushed, obliging immediately.
“are you really spider-man?” you whispered, to which he nodded, “that’s insane!”
“yeah but i-”
“wait so those halloween decorations from last year…”
“not decorations at all.” peter gave you a pursed his lips in, “but what i wanted to say is that i’m so glad to be back to you. i wasn’t sure i would come back and i needed to see you to tell you-”
“you got together with gwen?”
“-that i love you.” he completed, stunning you into silence. however, peter took the job to fill this silence, “i-i realised that i loved you way more than friends, but i guess i was too late. i understand if you don’t-”
that was the moment peter had to cut his speech short. because you leaned in and placed your lips gently over his soft ones. your hands travelled down his arm gently before they were grabbing his and pulling them around your waist. it was an awkward kiss yet it was everything you could have ever asked for. peter’s lips slotting them in between yours had you on cloud nine but his hands wrapping tighter around your waist and pulling you closer was keeping you grounded.
when the two of you pulled back, you were both smiling wider than ever, which made you giggle.
“love you too.” you said finally, making peter smile.
everything was figured out and you felt happy but there was still one last thing you needed to know.
“about the octopus guy who looked like alfred molina-”

Hello! I came across your arachnophobia fic and I must say its quite the masterpiece and every fan of spider gwen should read it--but I do have a question. I keep seeing people say Gwen is handled better in the movies vs the comics, but you seem to think otherwise. Can you explain why, and what are the differences, cause I honestly felt they're going the same thing
first, thank you! second, you're not gonna believe how long this is. instead of an essay, have a dissertation. hopefully it makes sense:
gwen's age:
in the comics, gwen is bitten by her spider at seventeen, kills peter at eighteen, is nineteen at the start of her story and is currently in her early twenties (miles is still in high school).
in the movies, gwen is bitten at thirteen, she's fifteen in itsv and 16-17 in atsv.
gwen's appearance
spiderverse gwen doesn't wear a headband, has a pierced eyebrow, and dyes her hair pink in a reference to the marvel rising cartoon's gwen. she also has a side-shave. comics gwen wears the classic gwen stacy headband, has no interesting piercings (her dad made her take them out), and doesn't dye her hair.
spiderverse gwen wears ballet slippers, which she trades for chucks. comics gwen wears chuck soles stitched into the bottom of her costume.
gwen's powerset and fighting style.
both spiderverse and comics gwen begin with the basic starter set of spider-powers.
a year and a half after her origin story, comics gwen has lost her powers and now uses a symbiote instead. she's her world's venom. comics gwen at this point has all the basic spider powers back, but thanks to the symbiote she has new ones that are totally unique to her. presumably she can do everything venom can do, but so far we've seen her use it to protect her from suffocation and burn damage in fires, heal from serious injuries, camouflage so well she's nearly invisible or generate any outfit she can imagine, and send out sentient pieces of her suit to spy for her or track people. also, organic webbing. always fun. she also has a unique set of weaknesses: yeah she's got damage protection from fire but it fucks her symbiote up for days, she has to change her diet and control her emotions to make sure her symbiote doesn't go rogue and hijack her. and unlike other symbiotes, hers is resilient against sound damage and doesn't give a shit about the symbiote home planet.
a year and a half after her origin story, spiderverse gwen... still has the starter pack.
except for one new power: a spider-sense that is linked to miles and can sense him across dimensions.
spiderverse gwen is far more competent than comics gwen. she's graceful, precise, a quick thinker and fights with the "skill and discipline of a trained dancer." she's a ballerina who incorporates her pointe shoes into her costume in itsv, and her dance moves into her combat moves (and since her dad has a visions gymnastics sweatshirt, she's probably a gymnast too). comic-gwen is a klutz who uses all her moves from kung fu movies, brute forces her way through situations, and was never a ballerina or gymnast. comics gwen is such a fucking loser at fighting that after she's conscripted into the hand and they try to give her ninja training, they give up because they find her unteachable.
gwen's personality.
in itsv, she's a cardboard cutout with 'strong female character' scribbled on the torso. she's trinity syndrome personified: she's the stoic, confident, hypercompetent female character who for no reason at all just hangs around not contributing to a plot she should be able to fix on her own, so the writers can say 'strong female character! we're not sexist!' while getting to live their fantasy of having their relatable male lead win a cool, confident girl's respect for rapidly becoming even more competent than her. she's the wyldstyle of this movie-- which i mention because the lego movie was made by lord and miller, the brains behind the spiderverse movies.
but hey, they acknowledged that she likes to play the drums in one line, which she shares with her comics self.
in across, she finally has some of the attributes of her comics self: gwen is an impulsive emotional mess who compulsively lies to avoid rejection from her loved ones and distances herself from them when she's in emotional distress. she's extremely guilty about the death of peter parker. she's a smart mouth with a corny sense of humor, geeky interests and a passionate artist with a love of rock music. she's constantly walking on eggshells around other spider-people because of how badly she wants to fit in around them, even when they put her in situations that hurt her.
BUT. she does not have comics-gwen's temper (i don't just mean 'denting a storage container when she's mad' i mean getting genuinely homicidal even before she gets her symbiote), her total indifference to romance, and her lack of interest in getting male validation. comics gwen would never pine for a boy she barely spent one day with for seventeen months and break the rules of her spider-team to sneak away for a date with him. spiderverse gwen's character is driven by her desire for a romance, and all the other aspects of her development are secondary to it.
spiderverse gwen craves a team of heroes to work with. comics gwen mostly works alone and doesn't mind it.
gwen's queerness
[edit: wrote a monster post on this. comics-gwen has been queer the whole time and slowly but surely building towards coming out]
so i'll keep it brief: spiderverse gwen is trans-coded, but definitely written, directed and performed as heterosexual. all her romantic interests are male, she shows no interest in other girls even platonically, is driven by a desire for a romantic relationship that has a happy ending, seems to like kids, and there's even a deleted shot in the gwiles swinging date where they photobomb a wedding in place of the bride and groom.
yes, spiderverse-gwen's speech to her father screams coming-out speech. said speech is lifted directly from the comics, where gwen's original run is basically one long allegory for coming out as queer.
comics-gwen could be read as trans, but is absolutely 100% intended to be queer. she has chemistry with women as well as men, she hangs out with a queer female friend group, she ducks out of romantic relationships like she's playing dodgeball, she's constantly encountering gwen variants who are even more overtly queer-coded, she has zero maternal instincts, and she's repulsed by the idea of a future where she's happily married to a man with biological children.
gwen's backstory
for starters, a note: at the time itsv was made, comics-gwen went by "spider-woman." after itsv came out she got a rename to make her distinct from the dozen other spider-women. she's gone by "ghost-spider" for about five years now. atsv gwen still goes by spider-woman, because they either wrote the script before the name change and couldn't swap out the dialogue in time, or they decided to just stick with it to avoid confusion. no shade, but it is a difference. and it is worth noting that spiderverse-gwen has a different alter ego name that isn't unique to her.
we meet gwen two years into being spider-woman in both the movies and comics. spiderverse gwen is still in high school. comics gwen is out of high school and either a college dropout or hasn't applied yet.
spiderverse gwen goes to visions academy, and lives in an apartment in chelsea. comics gwen went to midtown high, and lives in a house in queens.
comics-gwen and her father are irreligious, but her mother had a christian funeral service, so they presumably left the faith when gwen was young. spiderverse gwen is saying grace at the table as a teenager, so at the bare minimum her father's still a christian, if not her too.
spiderverse gwen was already a hypercompetent superhero by the time peter dies. comics gwen was an irresponsible vigilante half the city hated.
spiderverse gwen's lizard fight is sanitized: gwen's best friend peter parker was pushed too far by a bully and gave himself powers to defend himself and be a hero, like spider-woman, who he knows is gwen. he attacked the prom when triggered by a bully, targeted the bully, and was killed by mistake when rubble fell on him.
in the comics, gwen's best friend peter was still a victim of bullying who gave himself lizard powers, but he did it because he was embarrassed that a girl (gwen) was sticking up for him. he's still bullied at the prom right before he lizards out, but he attacks gwen's date, not the bully, because he's angry that gwen wasn't going to the dance with him. and gwen killed peter (who didn't seem to know it was her) intentionally by beating him to death after he stopped fighting her, tried to retreat and begged her to stop. it's not a terrible misunderstanding by a cop who didn't read the situation right-- it's exactly what it looks like: gwen committed manslaughter.
idk man i find it interesting that a spider-hero story all about learning responsibility... refuses to let gwen be responsible for the most important event in her origin story.
like comics gwen, spiderverse gwen is hunted by the police, led by her dad, after peter's death, quits her band due to her stress and grief, and after taking down a supervillain that threatens his life, she's caught by her father and reveals her identity to him to stop him from arresting/shooting her. in spiderverse, gwen takes down an alternate vulture in the guggenheim with miguel and jess-- and she quits her band first. in the comics, the kingpin sends the rhino to a mary janes gig to kill captain stacy because he wants to impress spider-woman and gwen protects her father.
like comics-gwen, spiderverse gwen then encounters a recruiter for an interdimensional team of elite spider-people and joins him. spiderverse gwen meets miguel and jess, and is an accidental recruit to the spider-society after jess begs miguel to take her when her father tries to arrest her. comics gwen's dad lets her escape, and afterwards she meets spider-britain, who does find her worthy and wants her for the team, but it's the spider-army, and their goal is to protect other spider-people from a villain that's hunting them down, not the multiverse as a whole.
and she's still part of the band at this point. she quits after returning from the spider-army, who she's with for a few weeks instead of spiderverse gwen's five months.
that "my mask is my badge" speech is lifted word for word from the comics. in spiderverse, gwen gives it to her father after returning home. in the comics, gwen gives it to her father as soon as she's caught and it's what makes him decide to let her go. when spiderverse gwen joins the society, it's while believing her father wants to hurt her. when comics gwen joins the spider-army, it's while knowing her father is looking out for her.
also, it seems like itsv made gwen's first foray into the multiverse that moment in the timeline given the peter death angst... but decided to double dip and replay the same beat again for atsv. it works, but it is interesting.
in itsv, we meet gwen at the start of her arc right after peter's death. in atsv, spiderverse-gwen's status quo hasn't changed at all after a year and a half. she's still mourning peter parker, still on the run from the cops, still on the outs with her band. for reference, after a year and a half of in-universe time since peter's death in comics-gwen's continuity, she's revealed herself to her friends, family and entire city, rejoined her band, lost her powers, joined her nemesis's criminal organization in exchange for pills that temporarily give her powers back, nearly got pressured into an arranged spidermarriage with miles by interdimensional omniscient observers that are a metacommentary on the writers and fans of the comics, quit the gang, gotten a symbiote, went on a murderous rampage with said symbiote to avenge her comatose father, bonded with said symbiote, made good with her supporting cast, taken down her nemesis and his organization, been arrested, gone on trial for peter's death and gone to prison. the manhunt is over, gwen has forgiven herself and been redeemed for peter's death and her city has accepted her as a true hero. spiderverse gwen is still in comics-gwen's first issue.
gwen's relationship with miles
needs its own section
spiderverse miles is gwen's most important relationship. you know they're the big romance of the story. they're in love, somehow, even though they went on one bus ride together and spent a grand total of probably about twelve hours together across two movies and seventeen months. they're ~linked across dimensions~. they spent a year and a half pining for each other, ignoring everyone in their lives in favor of a hypothetical relationship with each other. they leap into the multiverse to find each other. they're going to defy canon for each other. they're almost certainly going to end up together.
comics gwen and comics miles aren't even friends. yes, they kissed, once, infamously. but gwen immediately regretted it, got him to agree to remain friends, and while miles carried a torch for a few years before moving on, gwen IMMEDIATELY stopped mentioning or thinking of him. she never missed him. she didn't pine for him. she didn't steal away to miles's dimension to see him again, and when she was in his dimension to go to college she made no effort to come see him. she didn't care at all that he wasn't around, she's friendly with him when they hang out during crossover and spiderverse events but she otherwise has no interest in him, and the one time she brings him up in every single spider-gwen issue since the miniseries that shipped them, it was to say "fuck off miles, i can turn invisible too, you're not that special."
(again, spiderverse gwiles have a fifteen month age gap. comics gwiles have a four year age gap with miles in high school and gwen as a college dropout, so them hanging out together casually would be weird as hell. yes, that scene of them kissing on a rooftop in the moonlight is a 20 year old woman making out with a 16 year old boy who had to sit outside like a kid waiting in the car for his mom to leave the grocery store while she went to the club. yes that happened in sitting in a tree. yes it was awful.)
to be honest the only reason gwen keeps getting trio'd off with miles and peter is synergy with the spiderverse movies. they only started doing it after itsv. miles and gwen are not friends, they're like coworkers at the same job who have a common friend in peter the manager, who occasionally end up on the same shift, who made out once at the holiday party and never spoke of it again.
though spiderverse gwiles have the chemistry and sincere emotional connection comics gwiles never did, the ship still has all the fundamental problems.
spiderverse miles is being framed as the guy who's going to break gwen's canon and set her free. in reality, like in the comics, he's the guy who will succeed at taking her independence away. the comics understood this (or at least, gwen's creator did). the movies definitely don't.
gwen's other relationships
her mother: like in the comics, spiderverse-gwen has a single dad and an absent mother, though we don't know if she left or died; and if she died, at what age? was it when she was a baby, like comics gwen? given that gwen has a present signed by her mom in her drumset, it seems like her mother was in her life longer.
her father: like in the comics, spiderverse-gwen's dad is the police chief hunting her alter ego, who discovers her identity and quits over it. unlike in the comics, her father tries to arrest her and takes months to change his mind. comics-gwen's dad instantly starts protecting her from the police. however his quitting the force is only temporary-- he rejoins later.
peter 616: comics gwen and peter-616 are close, with the kind of mentorship spiderverse-peter b and miles have. they have an older brother-younger sister vibe. they're constantly teaming up and working together, and gwen is especially protective of him. spiderverse-peter b and gwen are coworkers at most and peter b is nice to her, but doesn't bother to spend time with her, teach her things, or help her when she's in trouble.
hobie brown 138: spiderverse gwen and hobie are close friends with a romantic vibe that's definitely going to be played down and kept platonic in favor of gwiles. comics gwen and hobie are also close friends who met during an interdimensional teamup, and also have a romantic vibe but the context is different-- in the comics, when the spidergeddon event that the writers definitely used as inspiration for atsv since it features the only appearance of margo kess and the miles-gwen-hobie love triangle, comic gwen and comic hobie are the ones with the stronger romantic connection, and the scene where someone in the love triangle appears to die, a member of the love triangle panics and when they arrive they have a shippy moment with someone? in the comics, gwen gets the death fakeout, and even though miles flips out, hobie is the one who gets the shippy moment with her when she survives.
anya corazon: spiderverse gwen doesn't interact with her at all. comics gwen, during the time she joins a multiversal spider team where pav and hobie are also present, hangs out with anya more than pav. pav's around, but they're more acquaintances who work together than actual friends.
miguel o'hara: spiderverse gwen works for and looks up to him, before losing faith in him and finding the courage to stand up against him. comics gwen barely knows his ass.
peter 65: spiderverse gwen was clearly in love with peter-65, wanted to be his girlfriend so bad she's projecting peter onto miles for a do-over, and his death was a terrible accident. comics gwen was never attracted to hers, was uncomfortable with his crush on her, and is personally responsible for killing him after he pulled a 'quiet kid brings a gun to prom to punish the girl who turned him down by killing her date.' spiderverse peter admires spider-woman, crushes on gwen and his candid photos of her are framed as flattering, and comics-peter had a pepe silvia conspiracy wall shrine dedicated to her that is framed as a toxic obsession. i really, really hate how the spiderverse writers decided that he was just a nice guy who was pushed too far, and gwen would have loved to be with him. the whole point is the opposite.
harry osborn: speaking of comic gwen's date: harry osborn. comic gwen went to the prom with harry. she, harry and peter were a trio of best friends. spiderverse gwen went with peter, and doesn't seem to have a harry at all.
jessica drew: both gwens are mentored by a jess from another dimension. spiderverse gwen is constantly strung along by jess, who doesn't give her any emotional support and ultimately refuses to protect her. comics gwen gets along great with her, and their relationship is far more egalitarian because comics-gwen is an adult and not a minor.
the mary janes: spiderverse gwen doesn't seem to regard the mary janes as her real friends ("i never found the right band to join" = "it's not just my grief that's separating me from them, i sincerely don't relate to them"). comics gwen loves her friends even when she's grieving peter and always, always tries to find her way back to them, even when she can't be honest with them. also, betty brant and glory grant's personalities, styles, and instruments have been swapped around. in the comics, glory's the keyboardist with the super gay vibe who takes gwen's place. also, comics-em jay is white, spiderverse em jay is black; comics em jay grew up with gwen and is her closest friend now that peter is dead (and seems to have feelings for her), spiderverse em jay... who even knows.
her villains: spiderverse gwen's doc ock is ripped right from the raimi movies. in the comics, gwen's doc ock is a goofy villain of the week who's a lackey of another big bad, and whose octopus is a literal giant blue octopus. spiderverse gwen's kraven is ripped right from the comics, and her last canon event was kraven's last hunt. comics gwen's kraven was another goofy villain of the week who instead of hunting animals, controls a giant safari of exotic animals and uses them to hunt people. comics gwen hasn't had a kraven's last hunt canon event and never can because her kraven would never do that. i mention this because movie gwen's rogues gallery is unique to her world and full of fun and interesting original takes on well-known characters. spiderverse gwen's rogues gallery just rips from what's been done somewhere else without bothering to do something new.
related: spiderverse gwen's j jonah jameson is a reporter, like he is literally everywhere else. comic gwen's jjj is the mayor of new york city.
spiderverse gwen in general is a guys' girl. all her friends are guys, all her mentors minus jess are guys, and all her significant relationships that are positive are with men. all her validation comes from men (her father, her love interest, her friends). comics-gwen has some male friends and allies, but generally regards them with a lot more trepidation because they usually end up coming onto her or trying to control her.
in the comics, gwen’s greatest supporters are women. the mary janes. janet van dyne and her captain america. jessica and anya. gwen-617 and the literal council of spider-gwens who exist only to protect each other. gwen's clones. the alternate gwens who are avengers in their respective worlds. she prefers the company of other women (the mary janes most of all) to guys. spiderverse gwen's relationships with women are all negative: she's jealous at margo over a boy's attention, she seems to have not reconnected with peni, she has a strained relationship with jess that falls apart by the end of the film, she quits the mary janes, which does happen in the comics, but given that she ends the movie declaring she "never found the right band to join" she's implying she doesn't intend to be friends with them now that she... sigh, has a band of guys. and two girls who aren't her friends and aren't there for her.
gwen's arc.
grief and guilt: both gwens are grieving the death of their best friend and feel guilty over his death.
-> when comics-gwen gets over her grief and guilt about peter's death, it's by taking responsibility for killing him. she apologizes to his friends and family. she completely changes her fighting style to pull her punches and tries to empathize with her villains so she'll never kill anyone who could've been helped again. she goes to jail willingly and stays there to serve out her sentence despite being given opportunities to leave early. she does it for the people she and peter love, and for her own sake.
-> spiderverse gwen seems to be getting over her grief and guilt over peter's death by latching onto miles and transferring all her feelings about peter onto him. if she can protect miles from bullies (... like the spider-society), keep him safe and alive, and successfully become his girlfriend without someone dying in the process, she's done it. also, the context of her guilt is totally different: spiderverse gwen isn't guilty that she killed peter, she's guilty that she outlived him.
redemption and responsibility. both are seeking redemption for a bad thing they did at the start of the story to someone they care about, that got that person seriously hurt. they get it by accepting responsibility for that action and making amends.
-> comics gwen's entire first run is essentially a redemption arc. she begins the story as a selfish irresponsible vigilante who recklessly gets someone killed and has such a bad reputation that the city's villains think she's one of them. and she spends 30+ issues of comics changing her ways, realizing how corrupt her nyc and its courts and police are and becoming a hero to protect the people from them.
-> spiderverse gwen's crime is lying to miles (about the society, what it does, why he's not in it, her runaway situation, her feelings, his father's upcoming death...) and not sticking up for him when the spider-society turns on him. she's redeeming herself by searching for him through the multiverse, and intending to apologize to him, be honest to him about her feelings (and probably the gwen stacy death canon event) and take him home to protect his family.
girlbossery, acab and radicalization. both gwens mean well but have blind spots about certain structural inequalities due to their privilege that they shed after they cause harm to a loved one. they radicalize throughout the story thanks in part to hobie brown, and both of the stories they're in have a strong acab theme.
->comics gwen begins the story as a girlbossy white feminist. i am dead serious. she was (a variant of gwen stacy 616, who had a white feminism problem nobody remembers) created in the mid-2010s, in the middle of the girlboss feminism heyday, the arrival of the first wave of Strong Female Characters, and right around the time discussions of police brutality started gaining traction in the mainstream. and comics gwen is a commentary on those things. she initally uses her Great Power to be irresponsible, but is held accountable for that irresponsibility: just because gwen's a girl doesn't mean her power is inherently empowering if she's using it only to benefit herself. it is extremely relevant that gwen's called out for fucking around and calling herself a hero while actual structural issues hurting the city's people are going unchallenged by her world's hobie brown-- and she listens, realizes he's right, and shapes the fuck up. see: her redemption arc.
-> her killing of peter parker is framed as an act of police brutality, and the entire first run of her comics is a giant acab thesis. the "my mask is my badge speech" = gwen initially sees herself as a cop. her frank castle/punisher is a murderous cop. gwen's dad is a whistleblower, and his departure from the police force and gwen's radicalization are paralleled on purpose. half the cops are working with the criminals, the other half are reckless or incompetent, and all of them are out to get gwen. even the One Good Detective character is still an antagonist to gwen in the end, and she hands her over to another broken, abusive system- the prison system. it's not subtle. comics gwen's arc is about how a cop becomes a hero.
-> i should point out that the reason gwen's comics after the first run keep failing to connect is that all the writers who've handled her since her creator don't seem to realize this. the girlboss vibe is back and it's awful.
-> spiderverse gwen was 100% given that girlboss vibe in itsv, so it's there. and since peter's death is a misunderstanding, the vigilante aspect of comics-gwen's arc doesn't exist here, nor does the girlboss deconstruction.
-> her father's mishandling of gwen at the scene of peter's death and the guggenheim still works as a critique though. the "my mask is my badge" speech is still here and her dad still quits the force for her. and the spider-society are cops. her naivete about them causes her to lead to miles into a dangerous situation that she does not protect him from, she becomes disillusioned after he is harmed, and hobie gives her a way to go against the society to protect miles and his family.
-> there's another element to spiderverse gwen's arc that's unique to the movies: race. gwen and miles are an interracial couple. gwen's a white girl bringing the black boy she likes away from his community into a society where he is not safe because he is black, and where she fails to stick up for him when he and his family are threatened by said society. and when gwen meets miles's family, they rightfully doubt her intentions and don't accept her until she proves she understands how important they and his community are to him, apologizes for trying to take him away, and commits to bringing him back and helping him protect them. again, gwen radicalizes because of and for miles. (... and for some reason, not hobie, even though she's spent far more time with him and he's far more political)
... are we noticing a theme in why these changes are being made?
gwen's metanarrative
who is gwen stacy?
-> gwen stacy is the girl who only appears in spider-man's story to be his love interest, who's challenging to win the affection of, and unattainable because she's out of his league, she's not from his world and her father figure is out to get the hero, which means when the hero finally gets her, you know he's really special. and she's the girl who dies, totally helpless, so the hero can look even more special for trying to save her, because the trying's what really matters, right? and even though she's in a world where people come back from the dead all the time, she never does. she's cloned a few times, but they're all just copies of her who drop dead quickly. she's resurrected a few times, but that's just to tell spider-man she loves him, she forgives him, she doesn't forgive him, she's disappointed in him. it keeps going.
-> and every time the story's retold, and gwen is in it, it happens again. because nobody telling the story wants it to change. they like it best this way. it's like this for forty years. 1973 to 2014.
who is gwen stacy?
-> gwen stacy was the most beautiful girl in school. she was also a science whiz who was her boyfriend's intellectual equal. she was a fantastic student at the top of her class. she was a party girl and a night owl. she was temperamental and selfish. she was a devoted daughter to her cop father and a great friend who came back to nyc even though she left afraid for her life because her friends and boyfriend were there and that was worth the risk. she was peter's first serious girlfriend. she dated flash and harry too, sometimes while also seeing peter. she was a feminist who objected when peter was sexist to her and treated her poorly. she was totally fine with disrupting campus vietnam war protests when they got in the way of her education and contemplated campaigning for a racist fascist politician if he promised to lock spider-man up too. she hated spider-man. she loved peter parker.
-> nobody talks about most of that. just the first thing, and the last, and the one in the middle about her being the hero's first love. everything else dips in and out, usually to contrast her to mj.
why is the death of gwen stacy such a problem?
-> because for forty years, nobody wanted to do something different. because nobody remembered that she was a person.
-> that's what spider-gwen is for.
spider-gwen's metanarrative is about being a gwen stacy in a spider-man story. it's about being a female character in a story written by, for and about men. it's about being a young woman (specifically white and queer) in a world made by, for and about men
-> gwen stacy dies because she's a girl in a world that doesn't see her as a person, just an extension of a more important man.
-> spider-gwen lives because she's in a world where it's possible for her to be her own person, and she has a story designed to give her the power of the protagonist. she gets to leave the male gaze behind and be in stories that aren't about her boyfriend.
-> in the comics, we first meet her at the age original gwen died. and she passes it. in order to do that, her first villain, who she has to kill to access a story where she gets to be the protagonist, is the boy the story's usually about, peter parker. she kills him and incites the hate of her city by, direct quote: "breaking his heart."
-> gwen's world and her narrative know she wasn't supposed to be the hero, to not be interested in peter romantically, and to outlive him. they punish her for it. she's gwen stacy and this is a spider-man story. it's trying to kill her. her friends and family hate her and hunt her for peter. she's constantly swinging past billboards deifying peter as a sweet boy who never would have tried to murder his friends, with a hotline for spider-woman tips called 1-800-for peter. when she's sent to prison, it's for peter. and after she gets out, her world and it keeps trying to spit her out and send her to 616. where peter parker-616 lives. but she's not being sent there for peter. she's being sent there for miles.
-> when comics gwen and miles go on their one date in ten years of publication history, gwen encounters omniscient watchers that show her a utopian future where she is a loved superhero, and the wife of miles morales. those two things are linked. the watchers, who are stand-ins for the spider-man writers and fandom, have decided that spider-gwen can be tolerated, but only if she belongs to a different spider-man. gwen sees through the manipulation, turns miles down because she wants them to challenge fate and make their own choices, and hasn't relented in close to a decade.
-> her alternate selves form a secret society to protect their narratives from people who want to take their agency away. gwen's creator ends his run on her comics by inserting himself into the narrative as an alternate gwen speaking directly to the reader, whose insert is a salty watcher who's pissed that gwen hasn't left her world to go hook up with miles and pump out his babies yet, telling them gwen deserves a world of her own and a story that's new. and what's not new is being the hero's girlfriend. what's new is being the hero, with stories about her as an individual. -> comics gwen doesn't need miles to teach her that she can imagine something better for herself. she does it on her own. and she's the one who tells miles he should do the same.
-> spiderverse gwen never kills peter with a power he was supposed to have instead of her. she even loves him back. her world still turns on her anyway. the problem was never that she did or didn't kill him. it was that she got a story of her own. then she enters the spiderverse, meets miles, and her story isn't hers ever again.
-> spiderverse gwen gets a pov in atsv. her pov is about she how loves miles, thinks he's so special, has been inspired by him to do things differently and wants to be his girlfriend. she gets a story. the story is about becoming the kind of girl miles needs. she gets a metanarrative. the metanarrative is that maybe, if she gets with a different spider-man than the usual one, it'll work out. -> even then, spiderverse gwen has to get this idea from miles, and she doesn't believe in it until he inspires her to try.
they are very, very different characters.
for what it's worth, i don't want every adaptation of spider-gwen to be like the original. if you're adapting to a different medium, that brings with it different drawbacks, opportunities and needs and satisfying those to tell the best story possible is more important than being 100% accurate to the story.
and with spiderverse gwen, i like some of the changes. i think they have great potential.
gwen's age: yes, it's relevent in a meta sense that comics spider-gwen is at the age original gwen dies, but kids have trouble relating to characters older than high school age, and kids are who these movies are for. aging gwen down so we first encounter her as a high schooler makes her more relatable to them.
gwen's appearance: i like that gwen isn't wearing the headband and gets an edgier hairstyle. comics characters have to have the same hairstyle all the time because comics artists can only draw so many faces and it helps keep them straight, so gwen had to keep the headband so people would know she's a gwen. it's great that a movie that doesn't have that limitation did something new.
gwen's fighting style: making gwen less klutzy was necessary in itsv because it would've undercut how miles was the clumsy one, as the character newest to his powers. i like that gwen is the one with more experience. and i think making gwen a ballerina is a great idea, now that atsv has gwen ditching the pointe shoes for her chucks.
-> it marks a development in her character: gwen begins as a girl who aligns with more traditional expectations of femininity, and through being spider-woman, finds the confidence to reject them and do her own thing. it works even better since spiderverse gwen is younger than comics gwen, who's much more comfortable not fitting in. it makes sense that a 15 year old girl would be less comfortable with being herself than a 19 year old.
-> from a thematic perspective: ballerinas are powerful disciplined athletes and dedicated artists who are stereotyped as frivolous and delicate, and whose bodies are admired for their sex appeal instead of their strength. they're the pinnacle of ideal femininity: thin, (white), beautiful, young, graceful, silent, demure, sexy, in pain but smiling through it even as it literally wrecks their bodies and minds, interchangeable and easily replaced by the time they hit forty. becoming one is often imposed on you as a young child instead of something you choose, the culture is unbelievably toxic, the actual dancing is painful, and pro ballerinas have to put so much work into their craft that it destroys their bodies before they hit middle age. and many ballets are romances-- the most famous being romantic tragedies where the ballerina dies after a love gone wrong. making gwen stacy, the perfect, delicate, conventionally beautiful, rule-following too-good-to-be-true girlfriend who dies young a ballerina is a brilliant idea.
-> it also makes her more appealing to the girls she's meant to be for: many little girls have dance, specifically ballet, pushed towards them as an interest they're both supposed to like and be good at, and will be mocked for liking. seeing a ballerina be this powerful and not be mocked for using her dance skills is important-- there's a reason why female fans latched onto it so hard. and gwen letting go of the ballet shoes for something punkier is just as relatable: many girls, as they grow older and start gaining more autonomy, often reject the traditionally feminine things that are imposed upon them. possibly even the same girls who watched itsv as children and atsv as teenagers.
gwen's powers: i don't mind that spiderverse gwen doesn't have a symbiote. i just wish that when she's in group fight scenes, she isn't stuck with just pretty-looking kicks while the other characters get to do more interesting things than her. jess has a motorcycle, miguel has fangs and claws, hobie has his guitar, miles has invisibility and bioelectricity, margo can clone herself and stretch her arms, peni pilots a giant robot, pav is super strong and uses a unique weapon for his webslinging. and gwen... pirouettes and then bonks her head so she can fall and miles can catch her.
gwen's personality: craving belonging with the spider-society is necessary to the plot. if she weren't so desperate to stay with them, her motivation for lying to miles falls apart. and i like that gwen's dishonesty to other spider-people is an intentional part of the plot; when comics gwen withholds information from other spider-people and acts uncharacteristically peppy around them, it's because the people writing her in crossover events don't know that information or that she's out of character, because they haven't read her comics. being around other spider-people is bad for gwen, and the spiderverse movies are the first piece of canon to actually bring that up.
gwen's queerness: i love that we can add a trans-coded gwen to the long list of queercoded spider-gwens. and that a trans-coded girl is the subject of desire for multiple boys, without any creepiness attached to it. it also creates a more subversive reason for gwen's ballet background and need for a boyfriend: she's using those things to access the kind of femininity reserved for cis girls.
gwen's backstory: gwen living in the city distinguishes her from the peter parker derivative setting of queens. making gwen's dad religious adds another wrinkle to their relationship. i love the guggenheim fight and think it's a more visually dynamic scene and a better fit to introduce the spider-society as interdimensional cops. the shift from protecting against an existential threat to spider-people to canon cops is a better fit for atsv's acab theme.
gwen's relationship with miles: i like that miles and gwen are friends and peers. i love that the spiderverse movies made the connection that they are both in the same position: both are marginalized by a story designed by, for and about white men. them being spider-people is an existential threat to it (an afrolatino boy who's the hero instead of the side-villain; a queer girl who's the hero instead of the hero's girlfriend). both are punished for not being able to live up to harmful expectations about what they're allowed to be. they're in perfect positions to understand each other's situation and help one another break free.
gwen's other relationships: i LOVE that gwen got to have more time with her mother. i LOVE gwen and pav's friendship, and that even if it's never going anywhere and no one will admit it, everyone knows about the romantic vibe between gwen and hobie now. the creepy worst case scenario girldad vibe miguel has towards gwen makes my head spin. gwen and jess's fucked up foster mother-daughter vibe is fascinating. and racebending em jay helps distinguish her from mj-616.
gwen's arc: the one thing about spiderverse gwiles that i like is that gwen's projecting peter parker onto miles. her fixation on him makes sense in that context, and gwen having survivor's guilt over not dying in peter's place makes sense, especially after all the time she spent being exposed to the multiverse, and is very compelling. i like that gwen gets to lose her faith in the spider-people and connecting the spider-society to the cops gwen is often in opposition to was brilliant. and having some of her white feminism called out in any capacity is good, especially since that element of her character is missing lately.
gwen's metanarrative: i like that the movies are pointing out that gwen should be able to have a romantic relationship with spider-man that doesn't end badly. like yeah. she should. a girl should not have to be eternally single or shun men forever to be safe and keep her autonomy. heterofatalism is bullshit and if we act like it's not we're accepting men as inherently terrible instead of challenging them to be better than that. and the potential of spider-gwen's character will be fulfilled once she is able to have this relationship and no one even questions that she can live and retain protagonism of her own story.
i like these changes! i think they're a good fit to this version of the character, they enhance the spiderverse story, and they're great additions to spider-gwen's canon. i think if comics-gwen incorporates some of these original elements she could benefit from them.
but. the changes were not made for the reasons i listed. at most, they were happy side effects of the real reason the changes were made.
the changes were made for miles.
it's that simple. even though the spiderverse movies are all about the importance of intersectionality and representation, gwen isn't here to represent the little girls and women in the audience, or show the boys and men in the audience that girls can be the heroes of their own stories too.
she's here to be miles's girlfriend.
gwen's age: was reduced to make her a more appropriate romantic interest for miles. why 15, instead of 16 or 17? so she's only 15 months older than him. no one can object to that age gap.
gwen's appearance: she has an eyebrow piercing because comics miles's first love interest, who has the exact same 'sneaking a look at you in the visions classroom/watching you in the hallway' moments, is katie bishop, who has an eyebrow piercing and a punk vibe to her design. the entire itsv gwen-miles vibe is just miles and katie with gwen replacing katie. -> the side shave happens because of miles. she keeps it as a reminder of him.
gwen's fighting style: gwen has pointe shoes because the itsv animators didn't look closely enough at her design to notice she's wearing chucks instead of ballet flats (and realized it in time for atsv). and also probably because as the token girl hero, they wanted her to be graceful, and a dancer's more appealing to a teenage boy than a grungy drummer.
gwen's powers: were kept basic so gwen can accompany miles on adventures without being a liability but she can never outshine him. she might have more spider-person experience than him, but he catches up so fast it doesn't matter.
-> instead of retreading her origin, couldn't they have reintroduced gwen in atsv when she was dependent on power-up pills? she had a multiversal encounter with miles then, so there's even comic precedent. plus her father being in the hospital and gwen being in the custody of the kingpin would be even more frightening, because spiderverse gwen is a minor-- wanting to flee that situation and being willing to do anything to avoid returning to it makes perfect sense.
-> THAT could've been the thing that made her stand out during group fights: at any moment she could become vulnerable. especially if the spider-society's providing them, and quitting means she'll be entering the climax with only a few power-up pills left.
-> plus, she could get her symbiote in btsv.
instead? her one new power revolves around being constantly aware of her boyfriend's needs even when he isn't on the same plane of reality as her. no woman or girl would want this. every teenage boy would want the girl he likes to have it. so apparantly do the grown men who wrote atsv.
gwen's personality: is all about miles. when she's dishonest, it's for miles's safety. when she's running from her problems, she's running from her feelings for miles. when she plays the drums she thinks of miles. when she's a nerd, she likes, of all things, the exact same action figures miles collects. when she finds the strength to defy authority and strike out on her own, it's to protect miles. her rage was toned down, and her need for romance was cranked up. for miles. and if gwen doesn't need male validation, keeping miles's approval would be a lot less important to her. gwen was a fantasy in itsv, and she's still a fantasy in atsv.
gwen's queerness: the trans-coding is important and not any less powerful than any other kind of queer representation. but it does feel like the creators decided on it as a way to acknowledge spider-gwen's queerness... while also making sure she was still attracted to miles and he didn't have any more competition for her.
-> oh my god the power-ups could have been an allegory for estrogen.
gwen's backstory: gwen goes to visions because miles goes to visions (note how they have more things in common because the writers are removing what makes gwen unique?). gwen doesn't kill peter because if she did, miles wouldn't find her attractive anymore. gwen liked peter back because if she didn't, she wouldn't respond well to miles's crush. gwen's status quo and her development as a character have stagnated for 17 months, while miles has grown into his own as a hero to fix the maturity gap. by stunting her growth.
gwen's relationship with miles: is being framed as a canon-defying epic romance that's never worked out before (not true; it has: see earth-8) but will this time. but it's only going to subvert canon and free gwen from her narrative if they don't get together. if they become a couple, nothing changes. she's still the girlfriend, even if she lives. and she will never be treated as his equal by the writers or the audience anywhere they're together.
-> gwen is all in on helping miles break his canon. but in btsv, will miles help gwen break hers? or will he stop short at 'well, i can break mine. but you can't because yours benefits me.'
gwen's other relationships: gwens' supporting cast was gutted to make her dependent on miles for emotional support. peter b isn't her mentor because he's miles's. jess can only redeem herself to gwen by helping miles. the miles-gwen-hobie love triangle was reconfigured so miles comes out on top. peter 65 is gwen's lost love, so she can find it again with miles. harry's cut from her origin story so miles has less competition. gwen's supporting cast and and villains are mixed up because the creators either never read gwen's comics past the first few issues, or did and didn't care what makes her world unique. gwen's a guys' girl so she can be the cool girlfriend who hangs out with your bros but would never cheat on you with one of them, and who'd never prioritize her girls over her boyfriend. gwen snips at margo because miles is so hot he's got girls fighting over him.
gwen's arc: isn't about becoming a better hero. it's about becoming a better girlfriend.
-> her grief and guilt can be overcome by successfully protecting and ending up with miles. why get over peter when you can replace him with miles? why die for your boyfriend when you can live for him?
-> she can't redeem herself by taking responsibility for the reckless, selfish actions she takes for her own sake. just the ones that harm miles.
-> her radicalization still happens, but on a different scale: she doesn't do it to be a better hero for her city. she does it to become a better ally to miles and his world. (remember the swinging date, when she introduces herself as HIS friendly neighborhood's spider-woman?)
every time gwen is punished by the narrative, it's for doing something that moves her away from miles, like lying to him or not having his back. every time she's rewarded, it's for moving closer to him, like sticking up for him in front of his parents, or deciding to apologize to him.
when gwen resolves her conflict with her father, it's because she went home to get her photo of miles, not to face him. and it's resolved so gwen has her baggage out of the way and nothing's stopping her from pursuing miles.
when gwen decides to resist the spider-society and lead her own spider-team, it's made up mostly of people there for miles, their goal is to support miles, and she'll probably hand leadership of the team to miles when he joins them in btsv. it's not her team, it's his.
gwen's metanarrative: is now just 'hey gwen, if you choose a different boyfriend, and you're super supportive of him, maybe we won't kill you this time!' and she still has to have miles come up with it, and inspire her to believe in it.
because if she wants to be her own person, she can't be miles's person.
it's about miles. she was put in these movies to be his girlfriend, and was written from the ground up to be accepting of that.
fifty years after the death of gwen stacy and ten years after the creation of spider-gwen, she's being put back in the narrative of spider-man's girlfriend. the most change they're willing to make is that this time, the girlfriend will live, and the spider-man will be miles instead of peter. the most agency they're willing to give gwen is the agency to climb back into the girlfriend box herself so miles doesn't have to take responsibility for taking her story away from her.
that's the problem. that's why spiderverse gwen isn't handled better in the movies than the comics. comics gwen is the main character. spiderverse gwen is the main character's girlfriend.
sorry about the length. hopefully that answers your question.
-----
p.s.: even if she squeaks out of btsv single, will it be because gwen realizes she needs to be her own person? or will it be because miles comes to that conclusion for her? or hell, maybe it'll be that he isn't ready to be with her yet.

Once again i am being plauged by the parallels between the og Dead Sea Siblings and Ghostflower,be it romantic or found siblings.Nico,Percy,Miles and Gwen all being so mix and match only makes me suffer 10x more /pos.You're a boy with no real friends at this weird school where you don't fit in and one day,you met this girl who's a little older than you and she is the COOLEST ever. You've got this little crush on her and she's so nice to you and it only makes it grow and turns out she was there because she's part of the new world you're about to join and when the new supernatural shit in your life finishes hitting it's beginner stage including one of your family member's who took so much care of you getting killed, you don't see her for a WHOLE year. She taught you because she's got way more experience than you but you were friends for so short of time that you only know the babysteps and you want her back so bad, more than anything because so little time filled you with so much love. And her?She feels the same way about you and it's hard to go on with her life normally when she's so worried about you but the forces of world saving leads one of you to the other's room again and they welcome you in with open arms and they give their mamí's food that you've never tried before and it's fucking DELICIOUS just like they said and your convo is a mix of hero talk and catching up
You get closer and closer because all that buried love is bursting out and you're a team again but then, you're reminded why you're here.Your dad is a monster and you want out of that haunted 'home'.Your first friend makes you feel safe for once so you try to stick around as long as you can and they're happy you do even if things are getting harder. They see you more than ever now
You haven't always had it easy and you're not the only one.You didn't wanna hurt them but you did.You thought you knew the rest but you didn't.In every other generation,Hades kids are outcasts and in every other generation,it dosen't end well. They're angry at you,of course they are,you BETRAYED them so you're not angry back, you only want to explain and they don't wanna hear it but they don't hate you now like you've convinced yourself.Nothing could ever make them hate you,not even canon itself and the crush isn't a crush anymore,it's grown into something woven into your souls that you both put there.Maybe some things are meant just for you two
It's not easy but you repair your relathionship and that's when the illusions of eachother completely shatter and you're both better for eachother for it.She's not an unattainable perfect goddess, she's a huge dork with dork tastes and all that shit she's pulled wasn't even planned beforehand, she's just batshit insane and she's your best friend ever and he's not a meek little helpless boy you can't let do things by himself,he's one of the strongest hero's in existence and can stand up to people way older than him with no fear-not unlike you actually!-and you're reminded why you believed in him so much even without seeing much of him on the field and he's your favorite boy ever. You have so much history and it's been rough but you're together now and when it's only you two,you finally feel normal. There's a first time for everything, right?

Hey Poorni, I mostly just lurk here but sometimes check in with your account and am always blown away by how quickly and drastically you change your mind on so many people and ships! Like on a Wednesday you'll post several times about a pair being a notp and by Thursday you're praising them as an otp and reblogging them constantly and then by Friday or Saturday you're disliking them again lol. For example, you've gone from going on about how much you hate Neia to suddenly calling them an OTP lol. A few weeks ago you didn't like Zaya at all and now they're like your biggest OTP ever. You liked Kitty and then hated her more than anyone I'd ever seen and then will swing back to liking her. And so on. We all change our minds about some ships and characters, and it's great to have an open mind. I'm just curious what causes you to go from hate to love to hate to love again on so many characters and ships so quickly---is it based on rewatches, reading other people's metas, Or do you just kind of wake up feeling totally different than you did the day before? You can ignore if you want to, I'm just always into learning about what makes fans tick, and you changing your opinions so frequently interests me!
First of all, I love long asks so ty for sending this haha!
Secondly, I wouldn't exactly saying that my love for characters and ships change day by day. It's actually the opposite most of the time where it's very drastic.
Like with Kitty, as a kid I liked her but then I saw a few threads on her and I was like 'ok she is kind of annoying when I think about it'. Then rewatching at like 16-17 (i think 17 tbh), she's very irritating and I feel like she's glorified WAY too much (especially in t7s). So then I started having more complex feelings but then after a few more discussions with my friend Sunshine and rewatches, Kitty is actually pretty fucking annoying. She babies Eric and literally never sees him as an adult, slut shames Donna for having sex with Eric and seems to think Donna "corrupts" him. And don't even get me started on how shitty she treats Laurie. I know Laurie is far from perfect, but no one deserves to have to hear their own mother say 'i love you because I have to' and 'Rosemary made a better baby than me'.
It sounds like I'm overreacting but honestly idc. Kitty is not this sweet little good cop to Red's bad cop and she sure as hell didn't have any "character assassination" like Jackie, Kelso, and even Eric did in T9S.
With Zaya, I really loved them as a kid but then hated them because of the shit Zig would pull on Maya. When I did come back to the fandom for good, I had moreso complicated feelings where they're pretty toxic but they can be good together and I'm glad they're endgame. And then I started looking at more Zaya stuff (mostly from Ashton haha) doing rewatches, which made me go back to loving them full force. I still have love for Matlingsworth, Camaya, Zori, and find Zesme interesting at times, but I love Zaya a lot too and I'm glad they're endgame.
As for Neia, I don't think I had much of an opinion on my first watch. I might've been annoyed by them. But I did prefer Jeia over everything. And when I got to Tumblr and did more rewatches, read fics and all that, I was really just done with Neia. My main issue with them has always been how they fucked over Nikki and don't even get me started on how ooc Gwen's advice to Leia was on handling that shit. Plus I didn't see any substance with them aside from having the same wants. Then I ended up being moreso fascinated by the idea of Neia crashing and burning, leading to a Jeia/Geia endgame.
There was a short period where I really wanted to be more open minded with Neia, so I tried looking at the more shippy stuff but I just couldn't do it haha. But eventually I tried again, hence me shipping them now.
Don't get me wrong, my issues with canon Neia are still there. Especially the substance parts, but I personally blame that on the writing more. For all Lindsey's claims of loving Neia, she sure doesn't act like she loves them. Until the 9th episode, they didn't have any alone time. Which, by a writing person, doesn't make sense because Leia is canonically best friends with Nate's sister AND in the dame friend groupl. Not to mention, Leia dated Nate's best friend, yet they don't interact one on one till the NINTH episode? Not even like them accidentally bumping into each other. Like come on!
Short answer: Metas, rewatches, (rarely) discussions, etc.

Now I'm curious what all of your btd6 ships are, and maybe how each one would react to being gassy around one another?
OOOH okay I have a few ideas
Quincy/Etienne: This relationship is basically just powerbottom central, Etienne has all the control in the bedroom and Quincy does what he's told. Reg Quincy's got a big gas fetish himself (that he hasn't told him about), so Etienne's casual gaseousness makes him pop a boner nearly every time. It's really only a matter of time before he asks E to sit on his face.
With Wolfpack it's a complete switch, as I've mentioned before, Etienne is little more than a glorified sex toy to him in the bedroom (not in a creepy way, Etienne wants this) If E is gassy around him Wolfy just doesn't care and tends to blast his own gas to show solidarity
Obyn/Churchill: Much of a similar dynamic to Quincienne, but Churchill is like this nearly all the time and with EVERY Obyn. He see's a big, burly hunk of a monkey, with nothing but utmost care for the life around him and you can just call him Old Dog Sanctuary. He just wants to get dicked down again.
Since Churchill is self-conscious about being viewed as weak, he tries everything in his power to try and hide his feelings and gas from everyone, which can lead to disastrous consequences. Only ever REALLY fully relaxes when he's alone, waiting until he can get home so he can release all the gas that was building up during the day.
The first time he ever farted in front of Obyn he felt like he was going to die, but luckily for him. Obyn doesn't give a shit. This man quite literally shits in the woods, so he's very encouraging of Churchill, telling him it's not healthy to keep it all in, and that he shouldn't be embarrassed of perfectly normal bodily functions.
Gwen/Ezili: Ok, so these two ladies are the classic example of a couple that is SUPER into each other's gas. They like to fart around each other, both publicly and privately and have little to no shame about it.
They sometimes like to have friendly contests after meals, Gwen has more powerful farts, but they're airy. Ezili doesn't have as much gas but it brews for longer, leaving her with deep, bubbly farts that tend to sputter out.
They like to switch it up in the bedroom, but mostly just the power dynamics, Gwen usually tops since she's got a dick, but Ezili does also like to peg her every now and again. Gwen is a VERY big fan of the romantic candle trope, but like. We're talking about a lot of candles, enough to cause a fire hazard because. Yanno. Gwen.

Hi!! I have a tasm! Peter Parker request!! So… Peter’s best friend/roommate (who shocker he is in love with! Lol) is a teacher. She has a really wild class maybe kindergarten age. She has had a terrible time with these kids and has had it. One day she come home from work a complete mess. Paint everywhere, hair messed up , broken shoe and or glasses the whole nine yards. Peter at home on the couch when she comes in. He starts to laugh at the sight of her maybe teases her. And she breaks down . Tells him everything that happens . “And the worst part of the whole thing is they said they were being Spider-Man! 20 five years cornered me and used paint “webs” and then Peter makes a big mistake “well that kinda funny don’t you think.” She storms out. … idk where to go from here! I feel think there is some more drama … but a cute fluffy ending wear Spider-Man comes into her class and set them straight . She says “that’s why I love you” under her breath. He hears her and after the kids leave he kisses her….. idk I’m not a writer!!!!🤷‍♀️ Thank you!!❤️
Today just started badly. First, you overslept, then someone spilled their coffee on you while you were rushing to catch a cab, the cab driver flirted with you when you told him you had a boyfriend he scoffed and murmured under his breath which made you roll your eyes. Then when you go to school the kids were out of control. Teaching 20 5 to 6-year-olds can be chaotic but never like this. Ben decided the walls needed some lime green paint, Lucy decided your jeans needed more color as well, squeezing the purple and yellow tube all over your jeans. Your eyes widened and the kids giggled. Christian wanted a toy that Alex was playing with and he ended up hitting and causing a small little fight between the two of them, you pulled them off each other and it ended with their tiny fists in your hair. You wanted to go home, take everything off, shower and crawl into your bed and cry your eyes out. You were exhausted between planning class lectures, grading their work, keeping the kids calm and at bay, trying to have a social life, and having to take care of Peter after he came home from a night of patrolling. You met Peter at the library in school about 1 year after he lost Gwen. You both reached for the last copy of the required book for an English Lit class, he wanted you to have it and you wanted him to have it. It ended up leading to the two of you sitting at a table and trying to share the book between you. The next thing you knew the two of you were together constantly, you became best friends and you harbored a huge crush on the brown-eyed, crazy brown-haired, photographer, skater boy. You knew it would stay one-sided he was still grieving and in love with Gwen and you were okay with it. You think? The end of the day came, you had paint all over your pants, handprints on your shirt, your hair was a mess. You slowly made your way into your shared apartment with Peter. You hoped Peter was there, you have never needed a hug more than you did now. Sighing you opened the door, you were greeted by the smell of pizza. You looked over towards Peter and felt the tears well up in your eyes.
“What happened to you?”
“The kids thought I needed more color apparently, today was absolute shit.” You froze when you heard Peter laugh. He was laughing. He was laughing at you.
“They did a great job, I mean I always did think you would look good with bright pink hair. They even gave you a little hairstyle as well.”
“The worst part of the whole thing is they said they were being Spider-Man! 20 five years cornered me and used paint “webs”
“I mean it is kind of funny, isn’t it?”
Your hands clenched into fists, he was making fun of you. After all the consulting, taking care of him when he was hurt, hugging him, and comforting him when he couldn’t help everyone… he was making fun of you. You finally broke. Tears streamed down your face. Peter’s grin fell from his face, you whipped away your tears but they kept falling.
“Hey…” You looked at Peter and glared
“You are the worst.” Peter’s breath hitched
“I have done everything for you, I have stayed up worrying over you, helping you, patching you up, hugging you through every breakdown, and crying myself to sleep over worrying for you because I’m so scared something bad is truly going to happen to you. All I wanted was for you to listen and hug me… but instead, I get made fun of not only by my kids but by my best friend.”
“Y/N… I’m sor-”
“I don’t care, Peter. Goodnight.” You made your way to your room and slammed the door. Peter flinched at the sound.
“Fuck…”
You woke up the next morning with a headache and for once you were glad a bathroom was in your room. You stood under the hot water for a long time. Sighing, you exited and got changed. When you made it to the school, all the kids were waiting in line and you let them in. You turned to help Jennifer with her R’s when you heard collective little gasps. You looked over to see Peter standing there, well Spider-man standing there.
“Hi, kids.”
“IT’S SPIDER-MAN!” the kids squealed all together. They jumped from their chairs and ran towards Peter. You stood there eyes wide, mouth agape. You made your way towards him and whispered in his ear.
“What are you doing here?”
“Setting things right.”
“What?”
“Alright, kids. Miss Y/N here told me what happened yesterday and how naughty everyone was.”
The kid's eyes widened, a pout forming on their lips
“I know you guys want to play and be a superhero but you know what you guys did yesterday wasn’t very nice right?”
“Yes, Mr. Spiderman.” The kids murmured
“I think we owe Miss Y/N an apology.” Your heart skipped a beat.
“We’re sorry, Miss Y/N”
“It’s… it’s okay kids. Now, why don’t we go to recess now.” The kids ran towards Peter.
“Come play with us!” Peter laughed
“I’ll join you guys in a minute,” The kids ran outside with the aid.
You were surprised by how calm everyone was, they were listening and getting along. You looked back at Peter, you love him.
“That’s why I love you…” You said under your breath. You forgot about Peter’s heightened hearing. You jumped when you felt his arms wrap around your waist.
“I’m sorry about yesterday, I wasn’t thinking about your feelings and how I hurt you.”
“It’s okay Peter.”
“But it’s not, I messed up really bad,” He turned you to face him. You reach towards the hem of his mask and lift it up, you felt your heart skip a beat when you met his eyes.
“I will spend the rest of my life making it up to you.”
“Best friends fight and make up all the time Pete.”
“I heard what you said.”
“What?”
“That you love me.” You froze, his hand caressed your cheek.
“I was kinda hoping to say it first, but you always managed to beat me to the finish line.”
“Wait, what?” Peter smiled, leaning down his lips lightly brushed yours
“I’m in love with you,” He pressed his lips onto your and you smiled against his lips.
“I am so in love with you, bug boy.”

What is your writing advice for young people who want to write fanfiction and original stories in the near future?
If this is just Way Too Much, skip to the end (#16). My most important piece of advice is there. I also happen to think #5 is pretty good.
-_-_-_-
1) Literally just write. Write whatever you want, and do a lot of it.
_-_
2) You don’t have to post everything. In fact you don’t have to post anything. You can, don’t get me wrong, but it can be intimidating to sit down and think “I will now write something that other people will see and read and judge with their eyeballs.” Because that’s probably gonna lead to nerves and writer's block. Just write down the ideas that you have, the things you want to write, whatever’s in your brain that you want to explore and expand upon and make into something. And then if you want to, share it. Or don’t share it. I have plenty of half-baked ideas and documents and random story chapters and shit hidden away on my Google Drive that will never see the light of day, for a whole number of reasons. I wanted to write it but it wasn’t ~Spicy~ enough to warrant posting, or it’s only like an eighth of a good idea, or it’s like one scene with no story around it, or it’s just something incredibly self-indulgent I just wanted to write for my own enjoyment.
Point being, don’t write for other people. Don’t write so that other people can read it; write what you want, write for yourself, and then if you want to share it, do.
_-_
3) You can pretty much ignore any and all of these for fanfiction. In fact, you can ignore pretty much any rules or guidelines you want for fanfiction. Fanfic is a sandbox. You don’t have to be a “professional writer” to post fic. No one expects you to be Stephen King or Margaret Atwood. Fanfic is just for playing in a fandom and having fun. If you wanna write a 50 chapter slow burn with very little plot aside from the OTP slowly getting to know each other, and no real stakes or central conflict, I guarantee people would read that. Really, fanfiction is the Old West of writing: lawless, wild, unpredictable, and free.
However, here are the rules you must follow:
-Separate your paragraphs. (I’m sure you know this already, but I’m gonna say it anyway just in case.) Do not post one big block of text. Make a paragraph break when someone new is talking, when the characters are in a new place, when a new event occurs that changes the scene, when a chunk of time has passed, and when there’s a major change in subject.
-I know it’s obvious, but... grammar, punctuation, and capitalization. They exist to make writing easy for readers to read, and more people will read your stuff if they don’t have to stop and try to figure out what you meant.
-Use tags and labels, as is possible with whatever site you’re using. Especially if you include possibly triggering content in your story. Again, I know it’s obvious, but it’s common courtesy. Bonus: tagging the themes and content of your story helps readers find it and read it :)
-If possible, limit the use of all-caps and exclamation marks / question marks. 99% of the time, one ! or one ? will do. If you overload the page with a lot of all-caps and long rows of exclamation marks or question marks, it hampers readability.
... That’s literally all I can think of. And, like I said, it’s all pretty basic stuff. You were probably rolling your eyes like, “Uh, yeah, Gwen, I know.” But that’s literally it. You can pretty much do whatever you want in fanfic.
That being said, here’s my advice for both fanfiction and original work...
_-_
4) A quick and dirty rule for coming up with a plot, starting a story, keeping up pacing, or maintaining tension: figure out what dreams, desires, and goals are nearest and dearest to your main character’s heart (see #16). Then set up the main conflict to be directly in opposition to that goal. It doesn’t have to be in a tangible way, though it could be. But, if your main character wants more than anything to reach the ships on the southern coast of your world and sail to a new life, make sure the main conflict immediately prevents them from doing that - in fact, make sure to send them north. If your main character just wants to keep their loved ones safe, kidnap the loved ones. If your main character just wants to date their best-friend-turned-crush, make sure they think they have no chance - or, make them cocky about it, and make sure it makes Person B determined not to ever like them. You get it. Figure out what your character most wants, and then keep them from having that. Boom - your conflict now ties in with your character's motivation. It's like instant yeast for plots.
_-_
5) If you’re anything like me, you want your first draft to be Good, despite all that advice about how the first draft doesn’t have to be good and it’s just to get words on the page, yadda yadda. And if you’re somewhat of a perfectionist (like myself), it’s easy to get stuck looking at a blank page because you don’t have The Perfect Words, and you want what you write to be Good the first time.
Here’s how I cheat that:
Instead of trying to write a Good First Draft from a blank page, hit the enter key a few times, skip a little down on the page, change your ink to red (or blue, or whatever - just something immediately identifiable as Not Black) and just thought vomit. Write whatever the hell you’re thinking, exactly as you think it. Don’t worry about it being readable, don’t worry about narrative flow for now, don’t worry about covering all the details, don’t worry about anything except either a) getting all the details of your idea out onto the page, whether that’s a lot or whether it’s just a sentence or two, or b) if you don’t have an idea yet, finding your way there.
Because this method is also very good for finding your way to ideas when you’re stuck in writer’s block.
Because of how human brains work, getting this stuff out onto the page - in all its messy, stream-of-consciousness glory - will likely spark more thoughts. As you write your original idea about the scene, it’ll likely spark more ideas. Creation begets creation. If you just start thought-vomiting your ideas onto the page, chances are you’ll think of more things as you go, and you’ll start filling out description or dialogue or tone or action or whatever, and pretty soon the scene starts writing itself.
Not sure where you’re going with the scene or which ideas you wanna use? Use a lot of ambivalent language in your “thought-vomit draft.” My pre-writing notes are chock-full of the words “maybe,” “perhaps,” and the phrases, “At some point...” and “...or something like that.” In this way, I don’t tie myself down to one idea; it’s just an idea, and I’m keeping it on the page in case I use it, but I might chuck it in the trash or change it or whatever.
And then, once your ideas for the scene (or story, or chapter, or whatever) are on the page, then go back to the top and start translating them into a “real” first draft. Use black ink, and start copy-pasting chunks of the thought-vomit up into the top part of the document and translating them into Draft 1. Separate out paragraphs where paragraph breaks should be. Add the correct punctuation and whatnot. Change “describe the lobby here - include potted plants, fancy carpet, blood stain, etc.” into an actual description of the lobby. Flesh it out, or condense, or whatever it needs. And if you’re still stuck, change back to red ink and ramble some more until you find a path that feels right, then plug that in. This keeps you from looking at a blank page, and it allows you to generate a kind of Draft 0.5, somewhere between a plan and a first draft.
You don’t have to use every idea. Like I said, jot down whatever comes to mind, put a “maybe” before or after it, and keep working. If the idea grabs you and you wanna keep expanding on it and exploring it, cool. If you just wanna jot it down so you don’t forget it and then move on, also cool. Red-ink draft / “thought-vomit draft” is your time to jump around in the timeline, add or finesse details at whatever point your brain moves to, etc. Don’t try to do it exactly in story order, because you will get tangential thoughts and ideas, and you will not remember to write them down five pages later when you finally get to taking notes on that scene. Trust me. On that note...
_-_
6) Write everything down the moment you think of it. Seriously.
“I’ll remember it when I get around to writing that scene in a couple days / weeks / months (/years).”
You won’t.
Write it down.
Phone, journal, google docs - hell, my family regularly laughs at me for grabbing a napkin during dinner and scribbling thoughts down alongside pasta sauce stains.
And then, once you have it written down somewhere...
_-_
7) Consolidate your writing ideas in one place.
Maybe this isn’t really your style, and that’s totally chill.
Buuuut, if you’re Type-A like me - or if you tend to be somewhat unorganized and you know you’ll lose track of your writing notes if they’re scattered across multiple notebooks, journals, napkins, phone notes, etc. - having one consolidated document of notes is a life saver. I keep mine on Google Docs so I can access it, add to it, and look through it for inspiration anywhere at any time. When I have one of those Shower Thoughts that I jot down on my phone or on a napkin during dinner, I set myself a reminder on my phone to type it up in my Story Ideas document later.
(Or, if the idea I had was for a story of mine that I’ve already started planning / drafting / whatever, I put it in the document for that story instead of the Big Random Story Ideas doc. You get it.)
_-_
8) Have other ways to collect and save writing ideas, besides just writing stuff down. If you like Pinterest, make pinterest boards of your characters or stories or settings or whatever. If you’re big into playlists, make a playlist for your character / setting / story / etc. Or both. Or something else. I’m not good at drawing, but maybe you are, and maybe you like to draw your ideas. Whatever form it takes, having another way to save ideas and think about your stories is invaluable.
_-_
9) Some writers can just start writing with no idea where the story is going, and they just kind of figure it out as they go. I envy those writers. And I do that sometimes for fanfiction, where the stakes are somewhat lower and the audience is reading more for scene-to-scene enjoyment (and to see their OTP kiss) than for a Driving And Compelling Narrative.
But here’s the thing: especially if you’re just kind of starting out, writing without some sort of plan is really, really hard, and will likely lead you into a slow, meandering narrative that will likely frustrate you.
Even if you think you’re someone that just can’t write with a plan (and again, I have the highest respect for pansters out there - I don’t know how you do it, you crazy bastards, but you keep doing you) - even if you think “I can’t work with plans, they’re too prescriptive, I just want to write and see what happens -”
Try at least making the most skeletal of plans.
Even if you have no clue what 90% of the story is, yet. That’s fine. But you need to have some idea of what you’re building to, even if that’s nothing more specific than a feeling, or a turning point for your character. Even if your entire plan for everything beyond Chapter 1 is, “At some point, Charlie needs to realize that Ed was lying to her.”
This is where those Draft 0.5 notes come in handy. Because, more than likely, working on your current scene that way will spark ideas for later scenes, which you can put down at the bottom of the document and save for when they become relevant. In my experience, the line between planning ahead and making a Draft 0.5 is exceptionally thin. One can quickly turn into the other.
If you’re really, really resistant to the idea of planning ahead, that’s okay. It’s not everybody’s style. But for the love of all that is holy, write down your ideas for future scenes, even if you’re a person that doesn’t like to plan and writes only in story order, because you will not remember that idea once you get to that scene.
_-_
10) You don’t have to write in order.
Here’s the thing: I’m a person that can only do my Draft 1 in story order (meaning, chronological order). I just have to be in that flow; I need to write in story order for me to best channel where the character is at from scene to scene, both narratively and emotionally.
But my Thought Vomit Draft is another thing entirely. By using the brain hack of putting my notes in red (or another color, it doesn’t matter) and going down to the bottom of the document / page and taking notes there, and then integrating them into whatever plan I have, and then translating them into Draft 1 once I get there in the story - by doing that, I can get my good ideas onto the page (and expound upon them and let my muse carry me and ride that momentum while I’m in the moment of inspiration) without writing out of order.
Maybe that’s just me. But if you’re a person who really prefers to write in story order, that could be hugely helpful to you. It is to me.
_-_
11) Emotion and motivation will do more for your story than technicalities of plot.
If your characters really care about something, and their journey through the (shaky or weak) plot is emotionally engaging, it will be a much more compelling story than a story with a “perfect” plot and unrelatable or unmotivated characters.
If your characters care about what they’re doing, and it means something to them, and their goals and actions are driven by dreams or fears or emotions that are integral to who they are, your audience will care too. If you have a perfectly crafted plot that hits all the right beats and has high stakes and fast pacing and drama - but your characters don’t connect with what’s happening in a way that’s deeply meaningful or emotional for them? You’re gonna have a hard time engaging readers.
When in doubt, prioritize character emotion and motivation over plot. Emotion is what drives story.
This power is highly exploitable. (Just look at pulp novels and shitty but entertaining movies.) You can even use it to glaze over plot holes or reinvigorate a limp narrative. Use it that way sparingly, though. It’s a band-aid, not a surgery.
_-_
12) Evil villains are hard to write - mostly because there are very few truly evil people in the world. (There are a few. Billionaires and several big name politicians come to mind.) But by and large, there aren’t that many evil people. There are plenty of bad people, but bad people have some good in them, somewhere in there. Trying to write an evil villain is hard, because they often turn very cartoony.
Here’s a tip: it’s much easier to write antagonists who aren’t evil. Even if they’re bad people. Of course, there’s no reason you can’t write a villain that’s just truly evil - a serial killer, or an abuser, or a billionaire, or someone who legit just wants to hurt people or blow up the earth or stay in control of an oppressed population, or whatever. But chances are, it’s gonna be really hard to make them feel real, and even harder to create a plot around them that doesn’t feel forced or contrived.
Instead, try writing an antagonist / villain whose motivations and goals directly clash with your protagonist’s - but not because they want to take over the world or see people suffer. Write an antagonist who’s chaotic good, but whose perception of the situation is completely opposite from your hero’s. Write an antagonist whose only desire is to save people, and who will do anything to achieve that goal - anything. Write an antagonist who believes in the letter of the law, and will hinder and oppose the hero’s methods even if they agree with the hero’s motivation. Write an antagonist who got in way over their head and did some things they regret, and now they don’t know how to get out, and they’re doing their best but whatever they set in motion is too powerful for them to stop now.
Write villains who are human. Write a killer who thought they were doing the right thing by taking their victim out of the equation, who vomits at the sight of the body and sobs over the grave they dig. Write a government leader who truly believes she’s doing what’s best for her people in the long-term, even if it might hurt them in the short term, and is willing to endure the hatred and belligerence of the masses if it means securing what she thinks is a better future for her people. Write a teenage bully that thinks they’re the one being picked on by the world, and they’re just fighting back, standing their ground. Write a scientist who will break any code of ethics and hurt anyone he needs to - in order to bring back his baby sister from the grave, because he promised her he’d protect her and he failed. Write an antagonist who is selfish and self-centered and capricious - because in order to survive they had to look out for Number One, and that habit ain’t about to break anytime soon.
Write villains who aren’t even villains. Write antagonists who oppose the hero because of moral differences. Write antagonists who are trying to do the right thing. Write antagonists who treat the heroes with kindness and dignity and respect and gentleness.
They don’t have to be good. They don’t have to be Misunderstood Sweethearts who “deserve” a redemption arc. They can be cruel and nasty and dismissive and callous and violent and etc. etc.
Just hesitate before you make them Evil-with-a-capital-E. Because evil is hard to write, and honestly, boring to read. Flawed human beings with goals and motivations that directly oppose the main characters’ are much easier to write and much more interesting to read.
Ask why. Why is your villain trying to take over the world? What does that even mean? Are they trying to create a Star-Trek-like post-capitalism utopia, but they know that won’t happen in a million lifetimes, so they’re trying to do it by force? Are they actually super in favor of human rights, but they got very impatient waiting for the world to do anything about poverty and war, so they decided to take it into their own hands? Are they determined to fix the world - no matter the cost? Are they terrified and overwhelmed, but committed to see it through to the end? Or - maybe they’re just doing it on a dare. Maybe they don’t really give a shit about world domination, they were just a mediocre rich white guy who decided to fuck around and find out, and now he’s kind of curious how far he can take this thing. And now he’s kind of an internationally-wanted criminal, so he’s kind of stuck living on his hidden private island in his multi-billion dollar secret base, strapping lasers to sharks’ heads for the hell of it. Gross, selfish, uncaring, and dangerous? For sure. Evil? Depends on your definition. See, now we’re getting somewhere.
_-_
13) It’s tempting to let the plot control the characters. It’s easy to drop your characters into a situation and see how they react. But here’s the thing: that doesn’t drive plot. In fact, it bogs down pacing. Instead, try to build you plot off of your characters’ actions and decisions. Let your character build their own situation. Not to say it should go they way they wanted it to go; in fact, usually, their grand plans should go to hell very quickly. But having the characters take action and make decisions, and letting the plot develop based on that, is much easier to make compelling than making a rigid series of events and then trying to herd your characters into them.
_-_
14) Having trouble justifying a character’s actions? Consider having them make the opposite decision, or having them approach the situation in a different way. For example: you need your character to go meet the bad guy, for plot reasons, even though there’s no way it’s not a trap. If the character goes, readers are gonna be groaning with their head in their hands, because c’mon man, that was really fucking stupid. But he’s gotta go, because the plot needs that. Two ways you might handle this: a) He knows it’s probably a trap. He decides not to go. The plot conspires to get him near the villain anyway. Or, b) He knows it’s a trap. But he needs to go, for (insert reasons here). So, he approaches it in an unexpected way. He brings backup, recruiting a side character we met earlier in the story. Or he arrives on the back of a dragon, because ain’t nobody gonna fuck with a dude on a dragon. Or he goes - early, and ambushes the villain. It may work, it may not. He may get himself kidnapped anyway. But it moves the plot along without having Stupid Hero Syndrome.
_-_
15) This is a legit piece of advice: if all of this sounds overwhelming, literally just ignore it and write what you want. For real. Writing should be fun, and every single writer operates differently. If you’re sitting here like “I’m getting stressed just reading this,” just flip me a good-natured bird and get on with your life. I promise I won’t take it personally. Same goes for literally any other writing advice you see. Lots of rules and guidelines can very quickly make anything thoroughly un-fun. Just write. If you’re passionate about it and you do it for long enough, you’ll start figuring out the tips and tricks on your own.
_-_
16) Here’s the best piece of advice I can give you: know your characters. More importantly, know what’s important to them. Build their personality and decisions off of that, and build your plot off of their decisions.
I see a lot of character building sheets that ask a shit-ton of questions like “What’s their most prized possession?” “Do they like their family?” “What’s their favorite food?”
And while these are good questions, my problem with this type of character building is that if you start there, with the little stuff, you’re building on nothing. IMO, to make a truly strong character (not strong like Inner Strength, strong like effective), you need a strong foundation.
Here are the things you must know about your character:
a) What are their greatest fears / deepest insecurities? And I don’t mean “wasps” or “heights.” I mean the deep shit. I mean fears like “living a meaningless life,” or “turning out just like their parents,” or “that no one will ever love them,” or “being powerless.” You may say, “But they’re really scared of wasps! They fall into a wasp nest when they were little and got stung so much they almost died!” Great! That’s a fantastic bit of backstory. They should absolutely be afraid of wasps, and that should absolutely be an impediment later in the story. But dig deeper. What about that event actually scarred them? Was it the helplessness? Stumbling around, swatting at the air, not being able to do a single thing to stop what was happening to them? Was it that they were alone, and no matter how loud they screamed, no one was coming? Was it the bodily horror of feeling themself turn into an inhuman creature as they swelled up from the stings, unable to move their fingers or face normally anymore?
And don’t forget insecurities, because those factor in, too. Are they deeply insecure about their identity? Do they believe, deep down, that they’re ugly? Did they grow up poor and they’ve always been really touchy about that? Why? Dig deep. Figure out what really, really bothers them.
b) What are their hopes and dreams? What do they truly want out of life? What do they consider the most valuable to their experience here in this thing called life? Is it the freedom to forge their own path and be independent? Is it the approval of their family or peers? Is it a home? Is it knowledge, or understanding? Spiritual fulfillment? Is it deeply important to them that they contribute to their community, or protect those they love? What do they need in order to feel truly and deeply fulfilled in life?
Figure out those two things (each one encompasses several things, btw, you don’t have to stop at just one for each), and then use that to inform how they behave and the types of decisions they make within the story.
It also informs character behavior and personality.
Let’s say we have a character who’s afraid of helplessness. They’re probably gonna be the person that always wants to do something, try something, no matter how hopeless the situation seems. They’d despise just sitting and waiting, probably, because it makes them feel powerless. They might even be the person that makes rash decisions and acts impulsively and puts themself in danger unnecessarily, because in their mind it’s better than being at the mercy of fate. This is one way you could use a character’s personality to inform their decisions, which in turn helps to inform plot.
Or, let’s say we have a character whose greatest fear is being left behind or forgotten. We may have a chatterbox on our hands. They might be obnoxious. They might love the spotlight, constantly vying for attention no matter the situation, because deep down they’re so afraid that they’d be forgotten otherwise. Or, it may go the opposite way. They may be so afraid of people leaving them that they’re terrified of bothering people. They don’t want to do anything that could annoy people, anything that might give people a reason to leave them. They might be exceedingly polite, quiet, accommodating. A push-over, really.
These are two nearly opposite types of personalities, both stemming from the same core fear/insecurity. You can go a lot of different ways with it. But if you build on that strong foundation, you’ll have a strong character, and a stronger plot.
Likewise, the structure of your story can and should inform the design of these character traits. If you need your characters to team up near the end, it may be impactful if you give your main character a deep fear of commitment, an insecurity about being unwanted or left behind, and make them highly value independence and freedom. That could make their team-up for the final battle very meaningful. Conversely, you can use your character’s deepest fears and desires to help design the plot. Is your character deeply insecure about voicing their opinions or taking a stand, because of trauma they faced in the past? Make them face that. Build that into the climactic third act. Give them the big inspirational speech where they stand up and talk about what they believe to be important, what they think the group should do. And then design that character arc to run through the story, giving you more handholds and stepping stones, more pieces of foundation on which to design the plot.
In this way, character should inform story as much as story informs character. It’s a feedback loop.
Bonus: if you build your character and your plot off of each other in this way, it automatically starts to build in the foundations of that emotional investment I mentioned earlier. If your character’s decisions are based on what they most want and do not want in life, you basically have your character motivation and stakes pre-built.
Note: you need to know these things about your villain, too.
-_-_-
I’m genuinely sorry about the length of this, lmao. But you did ask.
Best of luck!
Edit: I forgot an important one:
17) Start when the scene starts and end when the scene ends.
What do I mean by that?
If your notes say “Danny asks Nicole out after school and majorly flubs it,” start the scene when Danny approaches Nicole after school. Better yet, cold-open the scene on “I was wondering if, you know, you’d wanna. You know. Hang out some time?”
Don’t start that morning when Danny goes to school, unless you’re gonna cover the school day in like one or two sentences. Don’t spend whole paragraphs going through the school day, unless it’s to cover other plot points first (in which case apply these same guidelines there), or if the paragraphs are there for a specific reason, like to illustrate how stressed he is and how it seems like every little thing is going wrong. Even then, trim the fat as much as possible. Expounding and describing everything Moment-to-moment is for the meat of the scenes, not the leading-up-to and coming-away-from.
Here’s my rule of thumb: study how and when movies cut from scene to scene. Movies have exceptionally strict, limited time for storytelling; they’re excellent examples of starting a scene when the plot point starts and ending when it’s over. If you can’t picture a movie showing everything you showed, start the scene later and end it earlier.

some assorted merlin headcanons:
word has it around camelot that merlin's favourite food is blueberries. this is incorrect. his favourite food is blackberries. he is deathly allergic to blueberries.
arthur found this out the hard way
that bracelet he wears in season 1?? gwen gave it to him. i don’t CARE that they’d known each for like 2 days gwen immediately saw this man and though he Will Be My Friend and then made him a friendship bracelet and nobody stopped her (i love u dork)
in ealdor the Thing He Is Known For is falling into ponds. that’s it. ‘oh who’s that?’ ‘that? that’s merlin. he falls into ponds.’
he almost set Will on fire as a child and will teased him mercilessly to his death about it. off-scene moments before death bitch literally made a joke abt at least he wasn’t set on fire and merlin strangled him then and there.
he can freaking shape shift. like man, how cool is that?? his shape of choice is an EAGLE rather than a merlin, but. the thing is. the way he figured out he could shapeshift was he sneezed one day and suddenly he was a goldfish
GODDAMN my man loves lancelot. he’s the og lancelot fan. he started the lancelot appreciation club and literally the entire round table, gwen, and a couple of randoms off the street are part of it. it’s a great hit. ironically, lancelot doesn’t know it exists.
he made gwaine a Bag of Holding but it’s just for apples. all that’s in the bag is apples, all the way down. gwaine proposed to him on the spot when he got it
he’s left handed BUT arthur taught him to use a sword with his right hand which is why he’s not,,,, fantastic (also because my man just Isn’t Good With Swords) BUT elyan sees him cutting some stuff up one day, yknow. with his left hand. and Realises and as a fellow leftie decides to train him and confuse the HELL out of everyone the next time merlin’s part of training
it works
oh! he was born on samhain, which does play into the fact that he’s immortal, because usually babies born on samhain die,,,, but he didn’t
this did lead to a lot of people being suspicious of he and his mother as he grew up
he didn’t do a lot to help this, admittedly
so y’know how babies can’t really control their limbs when their young?? yeah well merlin couldn’t control his magic
kid would just start spinning and shit right out of his cradle while hunith was having people over for dinner which was. interesting
his entire eyeball was completely golden until he was about 8. it used to freak ppl out so he just. stopped making eye contact
when he’s REALLY angry his eyes just start changing colour,,,,,
there is a Reason why he doesn’t get angry very much
lancelot saw it once and he was Shook forever
gwaine saw it and Immediately decided that it was the coolest thing
he is waiting for the day that merlin cracks because that will be the day that Shit Goes Down
in the 15th century merlin will discover coffee. a caffeinated merlin is a merlin that the world is not ready for
you know how he can speak to dragons? well that extends to all reptiles now. one day a snake starts talking to him and he just shrugs and rolls with it. whatever. this is normal
this is Not Normal
poor arthur walks in on him one day to find him fucking hissing at a twenty-foot python
he and gwen are at the very top of camelot’s rumour mill. they see everything. they hear everything. they know everything. they can also control it >:)
one day merlin’s had enough of arthur and goes to complain in the kitchens
arthur the next day: merlin WHY did i just get called in front of my father on allegations of being in love with a statue??
merlin, pouring a potion of itching into his bath: .....i really couldn’t say, sire
this continues for a while until arthur catches on
in retaliation he writes a letter to hunith detailing all the dumb things her son has gotten up to over the years
the effect is devestating
(as in: merlin doesn’t speak to him for a week)
my man can SEW. his mother was a seamstress and taught him how to make clothes to sell at market the next village over
he loves embroidery, and he also helps gwen out sometimes and they gossip
his magic acts up a lot when he’s sick or tired
this includes turning the sky green and wine into soup
at the same time
while at a banquet
arthur just wants to know why there’s soup in his goblet
he’s,,,,,, really uncomfortable with the druids’ worship of him, bc they see him as akin to a god and their savour and post-camlann they’re going ‘oh mighty emrys the rule of the pendragons has passed onto the once and future queen finally magic can be freed’ and he just loses it
too bad gwaine didn’t get to see it
or anything else, ever
he and morgana pretended to court for a while just so they could absolute SCANADALISE uther, and also to make arthur jealous. they fake-eloped at one point and uther charged merlin with high treason
he got charged with high treason a lot actually, and not just in camelot. he is now a wanted criminal in four different kingdoms
losing morgana (the first time after the poisoning) absolutely DESTROYED him and he became rlly recluse until she came back, which started the descent into who he becomes in s4/5
he is Small and Angry and he will throw hands with Literally Everyone
merlin is no longer allowed swords in public
he’s also tone-deaf but thinks he’s not, and it drives arthur, who’s very musical, absolutely INSANE
he gets his hands on the medieval equivalent of a kazoo and has stopped two bandit attacks and three assassination attempts to date with the ~Power Of Annoyance~
one of those assassination attempts took place during a council meeting and merlin just whips out his kazoo and starts playing
he gets charged with high treason again for that
he is TERRIBLE with plants and kills every single of one of them
he once woke arthur up by climbing through the window on the 9th floor of the castle or whatever and rattling the window pane until arthur woke up and nearly tried to kill him because he thought he was an intruder
he has tried to consume rocks but elyan stopped him
idk i just love him, i’ll probably do some more of others later ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The Other Side Of Paradise
Requested by: No one
Words: 1,841
Aged up: Nope
Song: The Other Side Of Paradise- Glass Animals
Genre: Angst with a happy ending
Pairing: David x Counselor!Reader
!TWS!: A small bit of swearing and mentions of suicide and manslaughter at the end.
(A/n: This chapter is kind of an alternate ending to The Order Of The Sparrow (s1ep12). Essentially what I think would happen if another counselor (aka Y/n) was there with David and Max. Also sorry if Max is a bit ooc, I can't write him well.)
÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷
"I know you don't but I, I know you don't but I still try. My thunder shook him down. My thunder came and shook him down."
When things couldn't get any worse, it started down pouring. "David, just let it go." Gwen says, standing beside you. "No no no! I can still light it, You'll see!" David says, as he goes back to trying to light the bonfire. The kids just stare at David with bewilderment. You hear Neil say "I can't belive I frenched a platypus for this!" Gwen sighs and starts herding the kids into the mess hall. "Come on kids...you coming, Y/n?" She asked, you shook your head. "I'll call for you if anything happens." You say as Gwen nods.
"Y/n! You understand, right?" David asks you with a desperate tone. "I do David, but-" you cut yourself off with a sigh, not knowing how to word the next sentence. You crouch down next to David, as he still tries to light the fire. You're about to speak but a certain jaded ten-year-old cuts you off. "Well David, you were right! This is amazing." You glare at Max, standing across from where David is crouching. "Max, you should be in the mess hall with Gwen," you say to the child. "If I could just, show you." David says, with a hurt look on his face.
"Do you really think a big fire and an outdated and honestly racist tradition is going to make anyone care about anything?" Max questions sarcastically. "Max..." you warn the small Indian boy. You stand up from your crouching position and kneel in front of Max. "If you don't go to the mess hall this instant, you will have double chores for a week and no pudding cups for the rest of the month. Got it?" You explain in a stern, yet calm voice. Max rolls his eyes and makes his way to the mess hall. You sigh and go back to David.
"I just wish people understood." David mumbles after an extended period of silence. "I may not understand what you're going though, but I understand what you're doing for the kids. It's admiring that you put in one hundred percent every day for these kids." You say, putting your s/t hand on David's shoulder. You feel his shoulders sag under your touch, your heart sinks to your feet. "It's just...times have changed. Whether I like it or not. The campers don't care, Gwen doesn't care, even the founder of this place has better things to do. That's why I'll never stop trying. Because somebody fucking has to." David says, you stare at him in disbelief.
"Davey, please...why don't we do this tomorrow? The wood won't be wet and you need a break from the kids." David sighs and nods his head. You two both get up and you walk David to the cabin. It wasn't exactly the end of the day just yet so Gwen was still in the mess hall with the kids. After you drop David off at the counselors cabin, you tell him you'll be right back. You open the doors to the mess hall and walk over to Gwen. Gwen was ranting to the kids about how they should respect David and everything he does to keep them safe and happy.
"Hey Gwen, just wanted to let you know David is at the counselor's cabin and he's taking a break from the camp tomorrow." You say, Gwen nods in agreement and continues to talk to the kids. You duck out of the mess hall and make your way back to the cabin. You open the cabin and notice that David is sitting in his bed, running a lanky hand through his hair. You gently close the door and sit next to him. Putting your hand on his back, you rub comforting circles into his back. David lets out a shakey sigh, "I just wanted to show them something cool, and they don't even care...what's the point anymore?" You almost stopped rubbing David's back when he says that.
"I mean, the kids don't care, Gwen doesn't care, Mr. Campbell doesn't care, you don't care, what's the point?" David sighs out, tears welling in his eyes. "David look at me." You say, putting a finger under his chin and gently moving his head to make eye contact with you. "I couldn't care more about you and everything you do for this god forsaken camp and these kids." You say, wiping a tear from David's eye. Without warning, David envelops you in a hug, sobbing uncontrollably into your shoulder. You continue to rub his back with one hand and you start to run tour hands through his hair with the other. You whisper sweet nothings into his ear, trying to get him to calm down.
After an hour of consoling him, David falls asleep in your arms. You gently move him onto his bed and pull his blanket over him. Gwen came into the counselor's cabin about a half hour ago. You tell her you'll be right back, as you forgot something in the mess hall. You exit the cabin and see Max, leaning on the right side of the door. "Max, what are you doing up past eight? You've been here long enough to know no-one can roam around past eight pm." You question, Max sighs.
"Yeah I know the stupid rules, I just wanted to talk real quick." You cross your arms and raise a brow at him. "Okay, walk and talk with me, I forgot something at the mess hall." You say as you proceed towards the mess hall. "I know how hypocritical this sounds coming from me, but I feel...bad. Bad about what I said to David earlier. And I want to make it up to him." Max says hesitantly. "Go on..." you say, pushing him to continue. "I want to do the dumb 'Order Of The Sparrow' thing." You smile, and ruffle Max's hair. He grumbles and sho's your hand away from his hair.
"Wait, Max, how are we going to do this if the other campers don't know?" You ask, looking down at the ten year old boy. "After Gwen left, I talked them into doing it. We'll wake up at the ass-crack of dawn and Preston will make the outfits and I already taped the staff back together. You just have to let Gwen know about the plan and wake David up at around five thirty am. Got it?" Max finishes, you nod. "Yes I got it, now get to bed kiddo, we have a big day tomorrow." You say, walking into the mess hall.  You return back to the cabin, Gwen is awake and writing in her journal, and David is still passed out. Perfect. You let Gwen know about the suprise and ask her if she'd be willing to do it. She agrees and you both head to bed.
"Wake up Davey." You whisper, gently shaking his shoulder. His eyes flutter open "wh- Y/n? Why are you up? It's five thirty, we don't get up until six. " You blush at how deep David's morning voice is "I know today's you're day off, but I have a suprise for you!" You whisper excitedly. David rolls out of bed and you take a black piece of fabric put it across Davids eyes. "Y-y/n?" "It's a pretty big suprise, don't worry, I'll guide you there." You say as you take Davids hand and lead him out of the counselors cabin and back to the bonfire pit from last night.
As you and David make it too the spot, you quietly motion for everyone to get into position. Nikki shoots and arrow past David as you're taking his blindfold off. "Nikki! No. More. Arrows!" Gwen yells, "You can't control me, white devil!" Nikki yells before running off. David looks around at the campers and Gwen stunned. "...you're all dressed up as-" "Indians, like you said!" Neil cut David off. "We designed zie outfits ourselves!" Dolf added. "Do you love them?! I love them!" Preston interjects. "But, why..?" David asks.
"Alright I fixed it, everybody hurry up and...oh shit he's awake." Max says, holding the taped up staff. "Y/n, Max, did you-" "DO NOT LOOK TO DEEPLY INTO THIS!" Max says, pointing the staff at David. "You suck, this world sucks, and one day, we're all going to die and none of it will matter. But if we didn't do this, I'm pretty sure you'd kill yourself or something." Max finishes, David sniffs and wipes away a tear. "Oh you two..." "Or shoot up the camp, I don't know it was a possibility." Max says, shrugging. "Max!" You scold the boy.
"Thank you." David says looking at you and Max. "Whatever, just take your stupid stick." Max scoff as he tries to hand David the staff. The staff breaks in half for the third time. David pushes the staff back to Max with a heart-melting smile on his face. "Awww....lucky." Space kid says next to Max. Max smacks Space kid in the face with the staff, making him fall backwards. You stifle a laugh. You and David walk over to the raging bonfire. "Y'know, this is kinda nice." Neil says, staring at the fire. You hear the strum of a guitar and look over to Quartermaster and Gwen.
"There's a place I know that's tucked away, where we can go to laugh an play."
You look around at the smiling campers and they all crowd next to the bonfire. You and David glance back at Max. He rolls his eyes and smiles as we walks over to the fire as well.
"And have adventures everyday. I know it sounds hard to believe, but guys and gals it's true..."
"Hey Max, how'd you start a fire with wet wood anyway." You ask, looking down at the boy. "I'm not an idiot Y/n, I used gasoline." He says, your and David's face drops. "Wait what?" you both say in unison as the campfire literally fucking explodes. "WHOOO! DO IT AGAIN, DO IT AGAIN!" Nikki cheers, you chuckle and wrap your arm around David's shoulders. "So, do you like it?" You ask. "Like it? I love it. Thank you, Y/n." He says, wrapping an arm around your waist.
"Camp Campbell is the place for me and you."

You Need Hands: Part of the Prize Buck Series
Tumblr media
Warnings: smut, talking about abusive relationships, talking about drug use, unsafe bondage practices bc i am not a sex guru i am a writer of two flawed people, codependancy, praising
Klaus is surprised, to say the least when you come into the apartment raging, fingernails chewed off and eyes red as if you'd been crying on your walk home from work. Work was your only place, save for home, where you seemed truly happy. He notices your shaking and the barely contained rage behind the clench of your jaw.
“Hey! Hey, is everything alright?” he puts a hand out to stop you from pacing, and you turn on him, eyes glassy and red.
“Do you know what she said about us?”
What the fuck? Who would have said that? You talk to his siblings. Your boss. And. Oh. Okay, you talk to Gwen, your roommate from your University days that you recently gotten in touch with again. Klaus doesn't like her. It’s hard to get on Klaus’ bad side, but she seemed… pushy. Not pushy. What's the word he’s trying to use? Controlling? Scheming? Yeah, those are the ones. Accuracy cuts deeper, you always tell him. He pets your arm, feeble in trying to calm you down but after a few ragged open-mouthed breaths, you’re ready.
“She called us Sid and Nancy,” you continue, “She said we live in a sex den above a bodega slowly killing each other, if not outright doing it. She thinks you’re gonna get me high again. She basically met up with me up to judge me and tell me everything I’m doing wrong. I didn't even get to tell her about that paella we made last week for your whole family.”
“Oh, she’s kidding right? I’d make a terrible Nancy.” That makes you pause in your tracks, confusion lighting up your features.
“No- Klaus she thinks you’re Sid.”
“I’m not Sid.” He reaffirms, pulling you in and wrapping his arms around your frame. Noticing how the candlelight catches on your hair, making you look like a biblical angel, one of those terrifying fiery things, hard to look at but you’re all his. He knows how you feel right now, better than anyone. He’s used to being the one discounted and lectured. His own siblings, as much as he loves them dearly, only just started trusting him in the span of the past two years. It felt like something divine, that despite how mean and secluded you were at first, how you trusted him so deeply so quickly. He’d known you for almost a year, and in that year dragged you to another century, gotten you involved in a cult, exposed you to his family, ghosts, challenging and difficult situations other people could have easily cracked under without disease plaguing their mind. Klaus is capable of great cruelty and recklessness, he knows it. He knows you shouldn't trust someone who has seen and done the frankly fucked up shit he has, but you do. And he trusts you fully in turn, if not more. Even when you refused to be open with him, pushed him away; the days when you would have rather stuck pins in your hand than speak to him because he was loud and you were too weak to handle it.
He exhales a breath he didn't know he was holding when he feels your head dip and fall against his chest.
“Is she right?” your voice is far away, empty. Needing some empty comfort. “Are we killing each other? Do we suck?”
“Hey, c’mon, don't be upset,” he shushes you, “We’re good for each other. We have jobs! No relapses! Bet your ex could never say that.” He couldn't, your ex was part of the reason you were here, which Klaus wasn't exactly upset about because it meant he had you and no one else did, but you probably could have benefitted from years free from an active addiction that was more or less funded by the competitive nature of your work and home life.
“I’m not upset. I’m pissed.”
That solves it for Klaus. When you're pissed, you clam up. He doesn't want to emotionally lose you for the rest of the day, or worse, the whole weekend.
“We’re not killing each other,” he confirms, “Pretty sure you can't kill me anyway.”
You snort and swat at his ribs, but then your hand doesn't leave him after the hit, instead slinking from his side to his back, coming to rest on his shoulder blade. You're holding him, which means he hasn't lost you.
“Oh, wicked thing, I’ll show you how good I am for you.”
You sigh, and feeling the pricking of your nails on his back, he takes that as permission. His hand begins roaming your body, groping at your chest, squeezing at your ass as you grab onto him, holding him for stability as he keeps moving, his large hands making you moan.
“Klaus…” you trail off. What are you trying to say? What are you asking for? You don't know.
“How many days have you been clean?” He whispers against your skin.
“One hundred and ninety three.” You know it exactly.
“See? She’s wrong,” and he goes back to peppering your face with kisses as his hands work to pull your skirt out of the way. Its dirty the way he pulls your clothes out of the way to fondle at you, to rub against your cunt through your underwear, to pull that underwear aside and find you wet and waiting. His other arm wrapped around the small of your back, holding your rumpled skirt gathered in his hand.
“I’ll be real good for you,” he affirms, slipping a finger into you, and then another. You grip onto his shoulders now, enough to keep you standing when your legs want to crumble under his thrusting. He pushes in with ease, like you were made to take his fingers, your breath hitching and tiny whines falling from your lips. His forehead dips to press against yours, sweat beginning to form on his brow. Its dizzying, how deep his long fingers can be inside you, how full and whole you feel as he holds you against him, making you shake and moan as he props you up, letting you feel like a ragdoll at his mercy.
“Hey,” he nudges you with his nose, “Hey, Lover, look over there.”
He shifts his head to the left, and your head follows. You're face to face with the image of yourself in the cheap and grimy thrift shop mirror you had bought. You see how strong his lean muscles are, how they move against you, hold you close and safe.
“Look how fuckin’ good you look.” You nod, you have to agree, heavy bedroom eyes stare back at you, your lips parted almost pornographically. Is this how Klaus sees you all the time? He picks up the pace, eagerly moving his hips along with his hand, needing to feel some release and friction himself as he works you over, your voice raising an octave as he gets rougher, until your eyes close tightly; your body stiffens, shakes, and you can hear him praising you. You're doing so well, that's it, all for me, right on my hand, you're so sexy. Your voice comes out in a shudder. Trying to thank him as your muscles twitch and you look into his beautiful green eyes.
“No, no, no, shhhh,” he hushes you again, smoothing your hair down as he leads you to walk on wobbly legs over to the bed to sit, not bothering to fix your skirt. Your eyebrow quirks as he moves to remove his belt fully, not just unbuckle it to remove his pants.
But you wise up quickly, watching him grab your hands and start to wrap the belt around your wrists. You have bondage rope somewhere around here, but this is hot, and he told you to be quiet, so you don’t make a sound. He moves your hands at the wrist, checking for you to make sure the belt won't hurt you, then pushes you back onto the bed, staring at invisible patterns on the ceiling as you lift your hand for them, belted wrists landing at the other edge of the bed. You can feel him push your skirt up even more, then you feel his skin on yours, his bare thighs rubbing against the inside of yours, then the sensation of Klaus rubbing his cock against you. Fuck, you love his cock. You love him. He watches your expression, your gasps, your sighs from lips plumped by bruising, your eyes fluttering shut as he rubs against you. You're a fucking goddess. He doesn't deserve you, despite trying to carnally prove that he does. Youre so fucking good, you’ve helped better each other. Fuck what anyone says. He just hopes you believe it too.
“So fuckin’ good, Lover. Oh, I’m gonna worship this cunt,” he sighs, more to himself than you.
“Don’t make me wait, Klaus,” you command, but then whine as he enters you. Everything feels like so much, so much.
“Sensitive, Fraulein?”
“I can handle it.”
“Of course you can,” he agrees, setting his pace
He hikes one of your legs up onto his hip, then hikes his leg up onto the bed, getting a better angle to fuck you, but also to lean in and kiss you, his mustache brushing your chin, lips attaching themselves to the underside of your jaw as he kisses you fully, pressing his love into your skin.
He covers your body with his own, protective, possessive, and devoted; he fucks you through another high, making you scream into his mouth as he doesn’t slow his pace, once again shushing you and singing your praises. I love you, you look so good like this, let me live the rest of my life like this between your thighs. You want to let him take, and take, and take. Such a thoughtful, loving, loyal person. He gives. You want him to give.
“Klaus,” you sound breathless, “Klaus, come inside me, please.”
You beg, wanting him completely. He lifts your other leg, before climbing completely on the bed with you, his sweaty chest dropping against yours, palming at your breast as he buries his head into the crook of your neck, needing to feel the closeness of you as he comes.
He comes quietly, with a staggered gasp and your lips kissing his hair. One of his hands finds yours bound above your head, and grasps them both in his. He kisses your neck as he stills, body relaxing as he comes down.
You stay like that for almost a half hour before the phone on the wall rings and snaps you out of your loving haze.
