aforementioned sailor moon self insert i made at the very tail end of fifth grade. that summer id write and publish my fic with her on quotev except i was so autistic about sailor moon i was going to follow arc format and i quit before she actually got actually added to the senshi. and her original purpose was a sailor moon dolldivine contest on scratch that my first internet friend ever got first place in (she was how i got into vocaloid)

Merry Christmas Eve dude. With the big day nearly here, how would you think Peter and Ava would celebrate it?

AYE! Sorry this is late! Holidays, you know how they are.

Personally, I headcanon Peter as Jewish, but I figure some of the team(s) do celebrate Christmas, so I imagine Aunt May and Peter would celebrate it with them, and in turn, they'd celebrate Hannukah with Aunt May and Peter.

I'll admit, I don't know a lot of Ava's backstory in the comics, but if we're just going by the show, then I'd say Christmas can be a bit of a bittersweet time for Ava. She has a lot of memories celebrating the holidays with her dad (and other family assuming she has any), and being without them is hard.

But she's made herself a new family, and if she's got a few obscure family traditions she used to do with her dad, then her team is more than happy to oblige. Or just give her the room to do these traditions by herself, as a way to feel closer to her dad.

(This is more self-indulgent, but since Peter knows it was Kraven who killed Ava's dad, and he know's what it's like to lose a father, he 100% offers to be a look-out if she wants to sneak into Kraven's cell and curbstomp him.)

Season 1, Episode 24: The Sins of the Fathers

Favorite moment: Interestingly, it's the whole argument between Henry and Darryl. I think these moments when they argue make the characters feel like real people. They might be on this journey together, and they might have a shared goal, but they don't necessarily agree on how they're going to get there all the time.

General thoughts:

Dukes of Hazzard intro is very fun.

I love that this episode just opens on the failure of the previous crazy plan. So now, we get into another crazy plan with the holographic pants.

I think it's really creative that the car is a beast in this world and how much they use that to their advantage. Sure, they have their own fair share of "fish out of water" moments, but the people of the Forgotten Realms don't really know what to do with them either.

This is one of my favorite episodes. The initial run with the pyramid and this follow-up arc with the pyramid are great. They are funny and lore heavy and it's wonderful.

The argument that Henry has with the rest of the dads is also really wonderful characterization that fits the character and the moment, and starts to feel almost a little too real. It's very good role-playing.

Ron is just so Ron in this episode. I love the whole quote "I'm bored", let's keep things moving deal that he has. And the moment with "I wanted to set off the alarm so everyone would stop arguing".

Dunk Boreanez is hilarious. I love that whole bit of negotiating back to the pyramid.

We get to meet Doug! Love me some Doug.

The reveal at the end of this is also wonderful. Freddie's hysterical laughing as he figures it out is amazing.

Next time - into the pyramid we go. But what they find inside. Woo boy, are we in for a ride.

Maybe I'm weird but I kind of want Strange New Worlds' Chapel's backstory to get real Walten Files levels of dark: where the older man she was seeing tries to dismember her and stuff her memory inside a robot and she very narrowly escapes but not unscathed.

As a consequence, getting close to anyone afterward is a big NO and there’s a kneejerk association with the organic and natural world being a universal GOOD.

Sometimes there’s indescribable feelings and they are beautiful.

Be aware this is not quite as deep as you’d think.

I was out with our Shih Tzu and a woman comes up, teary eyed with love and longing in her eyes, and asks: is this a purebred Shih Tzu?

Yes, I reply, he is.

Lady: Oh my god! Can I pet them? I had Shih Tzu before, unfortunately lost my last a few months back, I miss that look! How old is this one?

I answer: of course! He’s friendly, he loves to be cuddled and fussed over! I’m so sorry to hear you lost yours! He’s almost 12 years old now, so he’s getting up there, but we can hope for 4 more years at least!

She’s so happy and sad at once but she clearly needed this and our little love bug of a dog is more than happy to be of assistance! I just think it’s beautiful how much it seemed to bring this lady some joy and maybe a bit of healing despite also being sad and heartbroken from her loss.

Listen, you should never film strangers in public without their consent, but I swear there need to be fines or something for people who do that shit in some spaces. For example: I had to go to the ER last night, and some jerk filmed a woman who just came in and was clearly having an asthma attack. She immediately got to go back, and he was unhappy about that. Believe me, I get that it sucks having to wait when you're in pain, but you don't get to pick who deserves care when. The medical system in the US is a nightmare, and the ER could be the worst moment of someone's life. No one deserves to be recorded because some jack ass believes someone doesn't look like they need care.

This is fine to reblog. People who film strangers should be shamed if nothing else.
