alright i'm gonna say a couple of things on the whole. energy of the dash and then i'm gonna continue with my day.
i want you, dear reader, to take a second and think about why you made your blog. why you've gathered your character(s) and decided 'hey, i wanna try writing this guy'. in any capacity, you made this choice because this character MEANS something to you. either you see yourself in them, you thought they would be interesting to explore, or you just like their energy! that is totally great and very normal. to some extent, you're being self indulgent when you open this website.
tumblr roleplaying, at the end of the day, is a hobby. and it should not stress you out, nor should it bum you out. it's okay to find joy in parts of this hobby that are not...writing with other people as well. some folks love making their blog pretty with amazing graphics. some folks love filling novels with metas. some folks love talking about their characters kissing other characters. some folks love engaging w their mutuals ooc -- on the dash or in dms. it is completely valid to like or dislike any part of this. it is not valid to call this behavior 'selfish'. it is also valid to curate your space and find people who enjoy the things that you do!
there is no right or wrong way to do this. if you do not vibe with the way someone runs their blog, it is very easy to soft or hardblock and continue on with your day. ultimately it's not that deep.

the thing about eliot spencer as a character, right. the thing about him.
(and as always your mileage may vary on my analyses so if we disagree that's cool actually)
is that he is in fact a somewhat emotionally constipated idiot who is occasionally sensitive about his perceived masculinity and gets defensive about emotional intimacy around other men (largely hardison, who's much more comfortable expressing affection and embracing a softer kind of masculinity), but eliot displays enough emotional awareness and sensitivity and respect for women etc etc that anyone who's been subjected to that era of television will put on rose-tinted glasses without even looking twice.
(and he is, don't get me wrong, incredibly emotionally aware for a professionally punchy guy with enough trauma to sink the titanic. it still startles me to see.)
on top of which we have the layers and the accessories and the excellent hair with the secret braids and the way he barely has an ego and he's good with kids and protective of his team without taking it too far, and some of us never stood a fucking chance.

in cersei and jamie‘s relationship, youd think that jamie would have all the power because he can physically dominate cersei and he does in the books but the one who has the most power in this relationship is cersei. she is able to manipulate jamie and make jamie do her bidding. like he could’ve been lord of casterly rock. he was the heir and he would’ve had a beautiful wife and had children and had the title and had the ranking but cersei told him “no you’re going to be a knight of the kingsguard so we can always be close to each other.” jamie gave up his whole life for cersei jamie gave up having a wife having a child having his own free will for cersei and jamie is so blinded by cersei’s “love” if that’s what you want to call it that he just looked past all of her terrible qualities and then when he meets Brianne and sees this woman who is really perfect in every way, but not like beautiful and is still so kind even though people are cruel to her. he changes his perspective on how someone should love you and how someone should act towards you, and when he comes back to kingslanding, after being with Brianne, he sees cersei’s flaws. when she burns down the hand of the kings tower and he sees the madness in her eyes and sees all the awful things she does and then when he leaves to riverrun to go take it from the blackfish and she sends the letter he’s so over it. he’s so over this shit she pulls and the way she treats people the way she treats him he can’t take it anymore.
also jaime says cersei is the only women he’s ever been with. jaime is this beautiful highborn knight with golden curls and a killer smile, he had girls drooling over him all the time but never even looked their way. then he meets brienne who he is forced to be in close proximity with and that is the first time he has ever had an interaction like that with a women that wasn’t cersei, that we know of but i feel like if he did it would’ve been mentioned.

If mom!reader wanted a second baby (or “first” baby - to her knowledge) with “boyfriend!Keegan,” would fae!Keegan come clean about who he is and that baby 2 would also be his/theirs or would he go forward with baby making and just hope baby 2 doesn’t look exactly him its older sibling or him? So curious how that conversation would go. 🦦
There's genuinely no good way for Keegan to say that's his kid lmaoooo. My guy has literally fucked himself into a corner, followed the map of his own stupidity into a conversation that will not help his relationship. How long is too long to not tell your partner that their kid is your kid? How long is too long to not tell them you're the monster they've been waiting for??
Keegan of course is excited at the prospect of another baby. He loves his first child so much, a second would absolutely be a blessing. It's the nervous was you chew your lip, the way your eyes won't meet his, that tells him there's something more you want to talk about. Even then it's like pulling teeth, he can see you trying not to flinch when he asks what you're not saying. And when you do finally spill the beans on your child being fae, on the deal you made trading something you don't even know for a child, Keegan doesn't know what to say.
You don't want a second child to feel like a replacement for your first baby when they're inevitably taken, and Keegan holds you close as you lay all your worries onto his lap. How is he supposed to ask "what if the monster wanted both of you? What if you've already given more than enough?" Except with his his usual bluntness. Stroking your back he asks exactly that:
"What if I just want this? You and as many little monsters as we can love?"
And it's like a veil parting when he asks, like some gossamer fabric that's laid over your memory pulls aside just long enough to have Keegan's eyes staring down at you in the forest. His voice asking if you can handle a fae child, his lips kissing you, his hands holding you, how could you have forgotten it was him?
"Three years is no time," You whisper, a chill striking your heart. Your baby was hardly out of diapers when Keegan had come into your life. Had he been planning on taking them then.
"Enough time for you to forget me," He whispers, like it hurts him. Your fingers tighten on his shirt, your ear against his chest listening to his heartbeat. Usually it's so comforting.
"What do you want?" You ask, you have to assume he's here to collect and somehow you've been stalling him.
"Exactly what I said," He tells you softly, "to love you, to love my child and any siblings we give them."
"That's it?" You frown, your brows drawing together, "That's nothing."
"It's everything," Keegan insists, tipping your head back so he can look in your eyes, "it's a family-" he thumb rubs against your cheek, "-it's love, it's you."
You turn your head, to kiss the pad of his thumb, holding his gaze. He purrs, a rumble in his chest you've always excused as something human. His eyes are so much brighter than they were, his features so much more familiar. It's amazing how much you can ignore, how much your child looks like their father.
"My everything," He breathes, and you think it's easy to keep loving a man who looks at you so sincerely.

Countdown to Agatha: Darkhold Diaries: Day 710
Agatha: *tears through the room* “WHERE ARE MY BOOTS?! I NEED THEM!”
Y/N: “Did you check the mudroom? Or the basement?”
Agatha: “YES! But I still can’t find them ANYWHERE”
Wanda: “Did you check the laundry room? Remember? I think you got them all muddy last mission, they might be in there to be scrubbed”
Agatha: “You’re right!” *does a mad dash out of the room followed by crashing*
Wanda to Y/N: “Don’t tell her, I hid them”
Y/N: “Why? You know she’d sooner uncover the burnt ruins of the library of Alexandria than give up”
Wanda: “I know. It’s funny watching her get mad, you know why? Without her boots, she’s so short. Short and full of rage.”
Y/N: “…You’re as bad as she is.”

Let me get this straight, Aes Sedai:
- are outlawed in a couple of nations;
- are hunted by militias that are disliked but still tolerated by the general population;
- cannot attack or conquer on account of the three oaths;
- are enslaved on another continent;
- can be cut out of relations with a nation without repercussions from other nations.
Can someone please explain how and why they are perceived as holding any sort of structural power because I am struggling to parse this one out?
I am not discounting their rigid and obsolete hierarchy, their unwillingness to reform, their wariness toward out-groups or their political manipulation (that said, I don't think it's that much worse than other nations) - these are all elements that make them an interesting and realistic community -, but I am frankly confused about the way some talk about Aes Sedai as if they are the equivalent of billionaires and oligarchs.
To rephrase it, this isn't a question about whether or not Aes Sedai as a group are good or bad - Moiraine covered that in TEotW -, but whether they hold structural power to the extent characters (and fans) think they do. I think a lot of their rules exist to maintain the illusion they do, but in practice they don't and that illusion is the only thing keeping people from treating them like parias.

"Having lived as an American "parasite" as long as I have, I know what I'm talking about!"
Ougjhgf Kazzzz. (Only time he's happy is in the hamburger tapes but with a mindset like that it's no wonder Outer Heaven held appeal).
Don't belong anywhere else, but desperately need human connections to thrive? (Even if he's not above discarding, using or abusing people either). Force value when you're not welcome anywhere but in a place of your own making, or control.
He wanted to belong somewhere to some degree, and ended up in one of the most fraught, disastrous places doing it. Creating and shaping (with help) a place for himself.
And well, there's always hamburgers!
