sam taking out an angel book from the library and pages falling onto the floor, except he notices right away that they’re not from the book itself. each is a sketch of creature he’s never scene before. he picks one up and notices both an enochain and english name scribbled in cas’ writing at the bottom corner. he takes a step back and looks at all of them splayed out on the floor and realizes that these are drawings of angels. some have four heads of different animals and some have multiple sets of wings, but each and every one has a fact and a name written out. out of curiosity he starts to read them.

balthazar: preferred summer over every earth month because it’s when everything is most green. he liked how the sun shined brighter in those months.

hester: she liked snow because she said it felt nice on her wings. her favorite heaven was actually filled with snow. but as much as she liked snow she most definitely didn’t like snowballs. inias learned that the hard way.

cas walks in and is entirely embarrassed because he never thought anyone would need to open those books again. he tries to explain that he was just trying to make the notes more accurate, but sam’s already figured out that this is how he copes with grief.
