What's the first thing you noticed about Scarab and Prismo? What did they notice about you?

Im gonna be so fr with you: first thing i noticed about scarab is that he was rlly hot. thats literally it. but this shouldnt be surprising in the slightest as this is also how striker wound up on the list as well.

first thing i noticed about prismo was how much of Just Some Guy he was. he just a guy! a little man in the cosmos!! and then i got terribly attached after the realization or popularized fanon take that he got disillusioned or really depressed after jake died.

ill answer tye second part with nyxie and not myself since. yknow. that makes More Sense here: scarab, the first time he ever interacted with nyxie, noticed how incredibly persistant she was in staying a runaway. surprisingly smart, then surprisingly stupid- a confusing yet fascinating combination for a quite literally nightmare-fueled creature.

after getting over the whole 'ok god fine you can stay here' bit of hoarding a needy runaway criminal desperstely wanting to hide out somewhere, prismo probably first noticed just how quiet she actually was for such a supposed loud mouth. he didnt hear a lot of good things about her, but once they started getting along, he was shocked at how easily swayed he could be into her comedic attitude on everything. its most likely how they became friends overtime!

Chapter 3 - MEMORIES思い出

There was no time to mourn those who had died. There was barely time to breathe. This place didn't care about the people trapped there. That much was obvious. Despite that, this place wasn’t the enemy; the people were.

And that's where Hotaru found herself. Running for her life from a group of men. She'd stepped out of a game arena and as she was putting the new card in her pack, they attacked.

Blood covered her mouth and ran down her front. She turned to see the four of them losing speed. Taking advantage of their slowing pace she makes a hard turn into an alleyway.

Her pounding footsteps are the only thing she can hear as she sprints down the dilapidated alley. She takes note of a corpse out of the corner of her eye before she was pulled roughly to the left. A hand presses against her mouth as she's shoved into a wall.

Her eyes dart around frantically, trying to adjust to the deeper darkness of the building. She can see that they're in a hallway that opens at either end into a larger room she couldn't see. They finally land on a familiar face in front of her, his finger held to his lips. Thudding footsteps pass by the open doorway before disappearing out of the alley.

Hotaru shoves the blonde's hand away, more blood spilling from her mouth. Something drops from her hand. Her legs buckle and she falls to her knees.

"Is that an ear?" He asks, almost sounding amused.

Before she can reply she's doubled over vomiting a mix of more blood and what little was left in her stomach. She staggers a few steps before laying down on the dirty floor. Her entire body shakes, heart pounding.

"Yes," she answers simply, throwing her arm over her eyes.

He crouches next to her, holding out a bottle of water, "Here."

She sits up, eyeing him suspiciously, "Are you following me?"

He shrugs, "Not intentionally."

After giving him a weary look she takes the bottle, gargling and spitting out her first drink. She takes a few more big gulps before wiping her face with her sleeve. The blood was starting to dry on her skin, making her itch.

"What are you doing here, then?"

He sits next to her, "I just finished a game and saw you running, I didn't want to have to listen to you scream if they caught you."

His voice was calm, and it made a cold chill run through her, "Thank you, even if you were just saving me to save your ears," she glances at the ear next to the door, "That's one of theirs. He had me against a wall and I bit it off, in case you were wondering."

"I was curious, actually," he replies, grinning. "People here seem to forget they're humans."

She nods, keeping her eyes forward, "We've met three times now, can I know your name or are you intentionally trying to be mysterious?"

He thinks for a moment before leaning back against the wall behind them, "Chishiya."

A jolt of familiarity runs through her as she turns to look at him, "Chishiya Shuntaro?"

Chishiya meets her eyes, his eyebrows raised, "If I am?"

"I know you!" She laughs in shock, "My mom, she's a nurse. She works with you all the time and…"

"And?"

"She told me all about you, she wanted to introduce us a few times."

"Mom, I have to go. I can't play matchmaker today," Hotaru says, rolling her eyes and looking back at her phone.

Her mother grabs her hand, "Hotaru, I'm not playing matchmaker-"

She opens her mouth in mock shock, "Liar!"

"Okay, okay," she waves her hand, "Hotaru honey you can't stay at that place forever, he's your age and he's a doctor. He's very quiet but kind and-"

"Nurse Ito, report to the fourth floor, please," a voice booms over the pa system, "Nurse Ito to the fourth floor."

"Well, you better get going, Mom. You might miss your surgery," she turns to leave, but her mother grabs her hand again.

Her eyes pleaded with her daughter, "It doesn't have to be him, Hotaru. Just promise me you'll find someone and be happy."

She was stunned for a moment, "Okay, Mom. I promise I'll find happiness," they hug, "And you can introduce us some other time, okay? But we both really have to go."

They say their goodbyes before they go their separate ways. Hotaru dials her boss's number before pressing the phone to her ear. She mumbles a quick sorry as she bumps into someone.

"Kutsuki!" A voice cheers from her phone, "What do I owe this pleasure?"

"Can you send a car, we need to talk."

"I remember her, she could talk through an entire six-hour surgery."

Hotaru laughs genuinely for the first time in a long while, "That's her specialty. She wouldn't shut up about you for a while actually. It was pretty annoying."

"Most of what she talked about to me was you as well."

"At that point, I was avoiding you out of spite," she lets out a dry laugh, "Pretty ironic that this is where we'd finally meet. I was even going to medical school to work with her."

"You would've had to have covered your tattoos then."

"How do you think I even got in? I can be pretty sneaky."

His eyes stay forward but she can see a smile creep onto his face. A silence settles over them, "Why are you alone?" He asks finally.

There's a pang of grief in her stomach as she looks away, "Imai, my friend, he died during the tag game."

"Ah, I see," there's another pause, "Did you know each other in the real world?"

"Why are you asking so many questions?"

His eyes lower to the floor, "No reason, I guess I'm just curious. Or bored," his expression is unreadable.

Her eyes follow as he stands, "You're bored. I'm not a very interesting person."

"We'll probably see each other again," he says, his back to her, "So, I'll see you then, Kutsuki."

"Is that a promise or a threat?"

Without another word, Chishiya disappears into the alley.

The building, as it turned out was a cafe in the real world. Now rotten food sat on the tables, but there was still bottled water and other drinks behind the counter. She also found some packaged food that was safe enough to eat.

After eating, Hotaru’s body all but shuts down. Her limbs are heavy and her eyes keep shutting. She goes to the back of the cafe and clears out one of the cabinets in the kitchen, laying a tablecloth in it. Shutting the door behind her, she sleeps.

Hotaru sleeps until the sun is setting the next day. Her body screams in protest as she climbs out of her hiding spot. She stretches and almost every one of her joints pop. Groaning, she fills up a tote bag with food and water. Those bastards from yesterday had taken her backpack and the pack on her belt didn’t hold much.

With her visa still at six days, she wants to take a break from playing games. She wasn't sure what she wanted to do, but she knew she wouldn’t make it if she didn't give her body a break. After a lot of thought, she decides to explore the city. She’d lived in Tokyo for most of her life, but when would she get the chance to explore it without thousands of people around?

First is her favorite spot in Tokyo, luckily it was nearby. Hotaru had always been a sort of strange child. There were many reasons, but her father always said that the weirdest thing about her was that her favorite place in Tokyo was the Hachiko statue at Shibuya station.

Hotaru sits on the warm concrete in front of the bronze sculpture. She didn't remember why the statue was so special to her. Her mother said that when she first heard about Hachiko as a young child she became obsessed with him. Apparently, she would drag her family to Shibuya at least once a week, even when her mom lived outside of Tokyo.

As an adult, it was just comforting. It was such a big part of her childhood due to her hyper fixation. His cute face staring at her made her almost feel safe.

She undoes the last of her braid, running her fingers through her now-wavy hair. A low rumble makes her head snap around. It continually grows louder, until she can see headlights coming toward her. She scrambles to collect her things and hides behind the statue.

A car pulls into the crossing, and she can see at least five men inside. Two of them hung out the window and she couldn't help but notice the large guns they carried. She shrinks back and clutches her bag to her chest. Car doors slam and she can hear the men talking to each other excitedly.

She shuts her eyes and breathes deeply, "Now what are you doing here all alone?"

Hotaru freezes, ice shooting through her veins. She slowly opens her eyes and turns to the source of the voice. A man stood over her, an assault rifle over his shoulder. His shoulder-length black hair was half tied up and he had a nose and eyebrow piercing.

He yanks her up by her arm and calls out to the other men, "Look what I found!" The two men outside of the car walk forward to meet them in the middle.

"She looks in good shape," one of them says, looking her up and down.

Her heart races but she keeps her body still, "Do you have any cards, honey?" The first man asks, throwing his arm over her shoulders.

She gives him a steely glare, "Cards?"

Another car door opens before a familiar voice calls out, "Kutsuki,"

She turns and the feeling of seeing a familiar face overwhelms her, "Hatter?" Before she knows it, she's wrapping her arms around the man. Something she never thought she would do.

A/N - when my wife lived in Japan, the Hachiko statue was a common meet up spot for the friend group :)

He wraps one arm around her, "She's coming with us," he announces, "Welcome back to the beach, Kutsuki."

✂ What's your editing process?

I run it through spellcheck, listen to it with an audio reader while reading along to hear any words I might skim/miss, fix anything wrong, and then listen again to make sure it sounds right. I still definitely don't catch everything, but I really don't like to edit and as long as I fix most major issues, I'm fine

🔷 What was your easiest fic to write & what was your hardest?

Hmm, I feel like All Over Me was one of the easiest fics I've written, that one just exploded out of me, I woke up with the idea and then I had it done in just a few days with no hesitation, rough spots, or stalls. My hardest were Playing Favorites and Something Said Something Gained. I came up with the final punchline very early in PL but chapter 4 had two different versions of the story hitting serious territory, and I published one of those, but I ended up hating that. It was a comedy piece and the hard pivot into serious stuff really ruined it for me. SSSG also nearly went the same way, but I remembered what I learned and I re-wrote the ending to avoid making things very convoluted

And I really loved the movie!

🤍♦️ Your best bet for surviving is to try and match his energy. Try to out-perv him, if you will. Most humans are absolutely scared shitless at the mere sight of him, so if you sass him back he’s sure to take an interest. But is that really such a good idea?

🤍♦️ Ferid gets bored easily, and if he gets bored of you he’ll likely kill you. I’m sorry if you’re just here for sugar-coated fluff, but that’s the way he is. Maybe you should have picked Yuu instead. Like I said, if you catch his attention you’re going to have to work hard to survive.

🤍♦️ Yes, he will spoil you. Money is irrelevant during a literal fucking apocalypse, and he has like 5 mansions or something stupid. 

🤍♦️ Also yes, he will keep you as a pet. Probably not the best situation, but it’s better than dying of the plague. At least you have a nice place to live where you don’t need to worry about being brutally murdered by the giant monsters roaming the planet.

🤍♦️ Definitely suck up to him. He loves it. He’ll probably force you to call him “lord Ferid” or “master Ferid” or something along those lines.

🤍♦️ Going in the complete opposite direction, he also finds it amusing when you back-sass him. It might result in punishment, depending on his mood, but you’re probably into that shit if you’re here for him anyway. Sass battles will ensue, and might lead to some less-than-holy actions.

🤍♦️ I like to think that he would enjoy being introduced to human games. Show him some Minecraft or another videogame. Play board games with him. He’s definitely amazing at Cards Against Humanity. He wins every damn time because he’s just that funny. He would probably enjoy DnD, but he’s definitely one of the WORST players to DM.

🤍♦️ Playing with Ferid is a dangerous game, but it’s worth it if you can handle his ‘eccentricities.’ He’s certainly fun to be around, that’s for sure! Just be very careful with what you say to him. Do not suggest an ‘action’ if you are not 100% willing to perform said ‘action.’  As much as I love this unapologetic bastard, I’d have to say he is the most dangerous pick on this list.

Lacus Welt

💜✨ Another of my favorite boys! And another dangerous one. Lacus is really only here for the pleasure, so that’s what you have to offer him to get close to him.

💜✨ This little shit is 100% down to keep a pet human. Mostly as food, but if you offer him other pleasures he likely won’t decline.  💜✨ Lacus has been known to accidentally kill his victims because he just doesn’t. Stop. Drinking. It feels good to him, and he just doesn’t want to stop. You’re going to have to remind him that if he keeps drinking, you’re literally going to die.

💜✨ Honestly, he’s like a toned-down Ferid. He likely won’t think of anything too awful on his own, so just make sure you don’t give him suggestions. By that i mean, don’t joke about him getting you a collar. He’ll think that’s a FANTASTIC idea.

💜✨ Actually gets super into physical affection when you start giving it to him. Very touchy, though not as bad as Ferid. He also wants ALL of your attention. He also likes to bite. Like, a lot.

💜✨ Yeah he’s also going to force you to address him as “master Lacus”. You’re his pet, after all. 

💜✨ Rene is 100% of his logical reasoning AND impulse control. If it’s just you and Lacus, which it usually is, he’s going to say and do some pretty stupid things. (”haha those idiot humans thought we were saving them! We were just protecting our property.” “Master Lacus, that’s the same fucking thing-”)

💜✨ He’s a little stupid, but he’s got the spirit. Will ask you weird questions. There’s no avoiding his curiosity.

💜✨ He’ll likely offer to share you with Rene (they’re best bros after all-), who will casually decline. Rene’s emo ass just isn’t as into the whole ‘pet’ thing as Lacus is.

💜✨ All in all: scary, but not as bad as Mr. Thirsty Whore Ferid. Once he actually takes a genuine liking to you, he can be a real sweetheart. You just gotta get through his thick skull!

🖤♦️ I genuinely don’t know how the fuck you managed to get his attention, but good job. Unfortunately for you, he will NOT show his feelings. He’s a vampire, he should be above such things.

🖤♦️ Honestly? Just fucking throw yourself at him. If you’re lucky, Lacus will convince him to take you in. Lacus knows Rene better than anyone, and can probably tell that he actually wants you. Lacus has your back, don’t worry. He’ll be your wingman.

🖤♦️ Rene will mostly leave you to yourself, unless he’s feeling peckish. Then he might come bother you for some blood.

🖤♦️ He really isn’t clingy or needy. Like, at all. He’s not one to initiate physical affection either. You’re going to have to do all the work.

🖤♦️ He wouldn’t mind having you climb on his lap and play with his hair, it’s just not high on his priorities list.

🖤♦️ Don’t worry, he will keep you well fed and cared for. He’ll also keep Lacus’s thirsty ass off you. He knows how Lacus can be, and he doesn’t want you to end up dead.

We are getting psychological with Aftermath by Caravan Palace 😶

By looking at its lyric, I mostly linked this song with Overblot. In the game Dire Crowley mentions that the magician's overall state and well-being plays a huge role on the magician's magical limit before experiencing Overblot. This song reminds me of all intrusive thoughts and problems that come and you let go off, because you either think they aren't important enough or that you think that they are just thoughts and you can't let them take over you (if that makes sense 😅), until eventually they pile up in you until they "burst out" so to speak. In a similar way how we see Overblot happen in the games (kind of).

Another song that, in this case, talks about unsolved problems that the characters of this game refuse to talk about (until that is they overblot) is Burning Pile by Mother Mother.

In this song, the narrator first talks about how they have tried to talk about their problems but haven't gotten to do it. Rather than solve their problems they run away from them instead. This is shown in the chorus:

"It goes, all my troubles on a burning pile"

"All lit up and I start to smile"

"If I catch fire then I'll change my aim"

"Throw my troubles at the pearly gates"

The last two lines basically say that the narrator would rather die than solve their problems, as in death they would escape these troubles that they are facing. Again similar to how our characters deal with their problems (in a way).

What appealed me to take in this song is power in it, if that makes song. Not only that but it suits Riddle so much. Like these lyric are made for him:

Really in my mind, these lyric really speak of Riddle's determination and hard-working ways. This song also reminds me of when we hear that Riddle took the Dorm Leader position just a week after entering NRC, basically doing the impossible.

By looking at the lyric of this song one thing is apparent and that thing is that the era we are currently in is filled with so much information that we are losing our sense of creativity and freshness and becoming numb and artificial. As you probably noticed, this song is meant for Cater Diamond and his dependency for trendy and MagiCam worthy things.

Both the song and the MV mentions how everyone will imitate anyone for attention. Everyone wants to be unique, but by everyone being unique, uniqueness is the norm. Everything is already digested, and therefore doesn't have any flavour anymore.

This song also ties up with what we see in the Halloween Event, where everyone wants to be trendy and unique, but at the same time they are the same 🧐.

The whole song is dedicated to Cater Diamond. And this song basically tells you to fake it till you make it .

had to sit here for a good few minutes and actually think about it. BUT. i think… hm. i think i’d give prismo a proper goodbye from jake. i know that’s not THE cause of his current depression- probably especially in canon- but i think it would help. at least a little bit.

i’m not sure what exactly i would want for scarab, cause… it’s difficult. what exactly would scarab want, i wonder, but then i realize he wouldn’t wish anything for himself. not for his own personal care, anyways. i think i would just kind of just… wish for him to have one good day. feel what’s it like to fully relax and have not a single bit of responsibility. the only responsibility for him is to take care of himself, and actually feel okay. it’s complicated, i’m not sure how to properly explain it. put him in a comforting limbo for a while.

On day Nyxie is so sleepy tired (a different version of normal tired) that she just starts laying her head down and poorly curling up in Sc4rabs lap without warning and despite his very pressed tone he is not forcing her off while shes just apologizing over and over again cause she wants to nap on him so so bad and will not regain the strength to sit back up.
