help me do a science before we get any more info about the flashback scenes

Hypothesis: Path of Deceit trauma.

Caveat: I don’t think there actually is a clean divide between right and wrong between the two parties, I expect there to be some culpability on both sides, but I was definitely struck after the episode by how many people concluded that the Jedi’s actions and motivations were super sus and they probably murdered the coven for no reason, whereas I ended the episode like damn these witches are suspicious.

Caveat 2: this is For Science, please be civil in your replies, I’m not making any declarations or judgments on there being a right or wrong answer, just curious as to the effect reading the books might have on your interpretation of the half of the flashback we have so far.

Caveat 3: the phrasing of the top two options is to include people who maybe aren’t caught up, haven’t read ALL novels, but have at least read the YA+adult novels of phase II: Path of Deceit, Convergence, Cataclysm, and Path of Vengeance (optional Battle of Jedha, ‘A Closed Fist Has No Claws’, etc)

I haven't drawn anything in a while but I really need to draw Zedaph trying to figure out how Grian's creepy eye void hole things work. And Grian's not sure why he agreed to this but it's almost as entertaining as freaking people out with the knowledge that he doesn't actually have eyes and also Zedaph brought him down to the Void Hole so might as well stay and see what happens

I did research bc I was thinking about bird eyes drying up in the wind and it turns out that they have eyelids under their other eyelids called ✨ nictitating membranes✨ and they’re ✨mostly transparent✨

Which is actually pretty cool. It makes sense because biology usually does (emphasis on usually)

And basically nicky membranes do the job of eyelids but while being transparent because birds can’t afford to be blind for 0.2 seconds that’s just too damn long. They also have proper eyelids but nicky membranes for the win I do suppose.

Also nictitating straight up just means ‘blinking’. It’s called a blinking membrane. But you know scientists, they want to feel smart with their fancy words that keyboards say aren’t real.

But basically yeah birds have secondary (Google says tertiary but I don’t care) eyelids.

Afterthought: Every time I see nictitating membrane I’m reading it as nicotine membrane.

new thing i have to do when watching any kind of big budget, highly marketable take on a well established genre is ask whether or not the characters actually do the thing the genre was invented for. do the superheroes actually help anyone? mcu spider-man’s narrative treats helping his neighborhood like a burden that makes him less legitimate than the other heroes. iron man would never rescue a cat from a tree. snyderverse superman is actively taught to ignore the public. up until The Batman (2022) we had gone decades since having a batman on the big screen that actually protected people or helped regular civilians. what good is a power fantasy that aspires only to being the biggest gun. do the spies actually collect any information? do any stealth? have to communicate covert knowledge to prevent greater harm? the answer is increasingly no across the board and i fear for the growing popularity of detective lit again knowing few will stick the landing as well as Knives Out
