We’re running a new experiment that changes the header on posts to reduce the redundancy of avatars in reblogs, save some vertical space by moving recommendation labels around, afford more room for badges, and more! On desktop web, it also removes the floating avatars and makes posts full width with the sidebars. If you have feedback about this change, please send it in to Support using the “Feedback” category.

We’ve removed the blog carousel at the top of the Blog Subs dashboard tab (for those who have it enabled), as it was causing the load time to worsen dramatically. (You can enable this tab in your Tumblr Labs settings, or via the new experimental dashboard tab configuration button if you have it.)

Fixed an issue in recommended and related tag card carousels that would show a “Follow” button when you’re already following that tag.

We were having some issues with SoundCloud embeds not working in posts, but it’s cleared up now.

In mobile phone browsers, the “Source” and “Submitted by” text at the bottom of posts is now correctly aligned on the left (it was a few pixels off).

Also in mobile phone browsers, we’ve cleaned up a visual glitch on trending tag pages that was causing the “Trending now” label to be on the same line as the tag itself.

okay so i guess first off. i hc silverfish to be larval creepers. that, in addition with a creeper's diet (and silverfish's, of course) consisting of ore, is why creepers explode players. see, when creepers explode, their eggs are embedded in the surrounding terrain. as players often carry ores on them, a creeper managing to explode a player and drop their inventory means the silverfish that hatch are almost guaranteed a very generous meal upon first hatching. after that, silverfish burrow underground to continue eating, and to stay safe until they're ready to metamorphise into creepers

(bonus doc lore at the end of the post 🐐)

creepers emerge from the ground at night because that's when it's generally safest for them to finish the final stages of development and gather their bearings. creepers themselves cannot dig or burrow, so they stay on the surface (or in a cave, if that's where they emerged) for the remainder of their life.

the combustion is the result of a chemical reaction- they store reactive materials in chambers in their body, and when they're released and come into contact with each other it causes an explosion as a side note, creepers can eat meat, but are more scavengers than hunters, and only eat it when it's readily available with little to no risk.

moving onto doc (because i'll never pass up a chance for blorbo talk), his anatomy is somewhat different from a standard creeper due to all the modifications to give him a more 'human' bodyplan and appearance.

his forelegs were originally removed and reattached to act as arms, however his spine and leg joints weren't built for a bipedal upright stance, so it gives him back, knee, and ankle pain to walk like that too much. his retractable robotic forelegs were a later addition he made for himself as a mobility aid to help relieve that pain. because of that he has a slightly more 'taur' like body structure, vs standard creepers whose necks are centered between all 4 legs. originally both his arms had 3 digits each (as they were made by modifying his legs), but when he made his right arm prosthetic he gave it a 5-fingered, more human-like shape for easier manipulation of stuff designed for human use

his combustion chambers were also removed long ago, so he can no longer explode himself (which he doesn't really mind. not big on the whole 'one panic away from exploding himself to death' thing)

he can digest a larger range of food than standard creepers can, but he still needs to eat ores to keep a nutritionally balanced diet. mostly he eats non-mineral foods just because he likes the taste, rather than actual nutritional value. it's recommended not to eat anything he makes for himself, because even if it looks like smth a human can eat, it's probably seasoned with redstone or iron shavings (he is good at making human-safe food, but he has no reason to make his own meals human safe. only eat doc's cooking if you know it's meant to be shared)

his scales are also softer, fading into something more similar to rough skin on a lot of his body. his 'hair' is thicker than a human's but thinner than a creeper's scales- it has almost a quill like texture. he can still 'hiss' by rattling them, but it's a somewhat different pitch than your standard creeper.

he also has a lot of mods on his neck to allow him to speak, and his robotic eye sees far better than a creeper's (slightly above human average, vs creeper eyes which are far below a human average). also a lot of questional brain/head mods to give him a more human appearing face and human-level cognition. his horns however are purely aesthetic.

the academy has it roots way back in the distant past, going back as the cataclysm. it originally started as a small mobile classroom teaching children while the parents were hard at work rebuilding their houses, but over the years, it eventually grew into an academy.

it didn't actually have a glamorous start— it was just a normal school in liyue. however, during the era when liyue harbor grew in prosperity and businessmen and their families all over teyvat started flocking to liyue to start their money, the academy became a melting pot of cultures. eventually, it started to churn out businessmen and top leaders that revolutionized not just the liyue market but that of teyvat.

with enough money in their pockets and a stellar reputation teyvat, they moved to a remote island just off the coasts between liyue and mondstadt so that they can be unrestrained from any one nation's government rules. this is so to avoid biases towards nations and guarantee equal opportunities among the seven nations. so it's an institute looked after whatever international institution between the seven nations.

their education system consists of middle school and high school which has a smaller island of their own. however, the main land has the college and all its facilities as well as a little city there complete with an entertainment district. this institute is popular among professors and geniuses in the continent thanks to its massive pool of resources, so it's not just a fancy school with little brain.

so yes! it's an academy filled with rich history and so much connections that you're basically guaranteed a position in high society once you graduate!

Hey guys! I had a weird dream

Of course more things happening on it but ...

I remember very clear a moment when I became Varian (S3 design) I was a little exasperated but patiently and kindly trying to accomplish my chore while Eugene and Lance were interrupting me chatting about funny things

The chore consisted on getting a bunch of... ashes? Torned clothes? Yellow papers ? inside a golden cantinphlora, I finished and said my goodbyes.

Next I was not Varian anymore , I was next to Quirin keeping him company, a lady in waiting with the yellow uniform, was I Faith?, we were on a outside garden party at night with royals and citizens, everything was decorated with lanterns and few light bulbs.

Varian announced his entering , asking for everyone attention, he was not on a stage, but at the top of a wall helped with a mobile staircase, he was about to say speech, then he opened the cantinphora, put it on the wall and a little path of shiny orbs exploded from it, forming an arc of light.

It was lame because it was not big, and suddenly, I could think at the same time in the body of Faith and Varian "That was my fault, I didn't pushed enough ingredients into the cantinphora"

Then me as Varian, gave a proper salutation and started a speech talking about how much thankful I was for all my dad care and love, with a move of my hand, the path of lighting orbs followed me and then I drawed with my finger the silhouette of Quirin, very similar to a line of neon light.

Then the magic happened, I made the siluhette, but a sudden spark would compete all the details to make a full illustration of Quiring face and clothes, now the people awed at it and clapped , I felt great, the artifact was working.

Quirin looked pleased and honored, as in his S3 design, more smiling, and saying a kind of, "oh my child uvu ".

But then a guy wearing a big coat with a hoodie talked back aloud to be herd, unamused saying it what not big deal and did a copy of my Quirin illustration with his own neon light, looking from Faith perspective, tall, small eyes, with acne, pale skin, big long nose but rounded at the tip, not the typical pointy, the hair was not visible , the coat was butter colored.

Varian then felt the joy tainted, of course, disrespected, but shrugged and kept going, next , he thanked his "teacher" for showing him new habilites, he took three steps down the staircase and moved the hand for the next siluhette.

A illustration of an old men with a big robe, long curvy hair, long mustache and long barb appeared, the audience clapped but now Quirin was nervous and faking his smile while saying "That could be any one" like not wanting any one to recognize who this teacher was, but in fact, it was like a generic wizard.

Then the guy with the hoodie said aloud those habilites were easer to get when you train with a chopped and re-arranged hand.

The people gasped and Varian was visiblely tensed and wide eyed, the left hand tingling, angryly thinking "How dares he?! I don't want my dad to know about my hand!"

And then I woke up because my blanket endup far away from me and I was freezing xDdDDDDdD

I remember my first mobile phone. It was just a hand-me-down from my eldest, but I was so excited to finally have one.

Now imagine buying a beautiful house, on top of a beautiful hill, overlooking the blue ocean. Isn’t that going to be your most amazing, most precious property ever?

But you know what happens after several years have passed by? It’s not that beautiful anymore. Whatever possessions or achievements we have right now, we will eventually get bored of it. And that mobile phone I got? I got disinterested fairly quickly as well.

In this aayah, Allah says that for the believers who do righteous deeds, their compensation is that they will remain in Jannah forever.

Now when we read this aayah, and we compare it with our experiences in this dunya, we may think that if everything goes exactly as we want *all the time* in Jannah, then the excitement is going to fizzle out sooner or later, that we will eventually get bored. But look what Allah says about the people in Jannah in another aayah:

🌟 ❛They will reside in it (forever), never desiring any transfer out of it.❜  [Surah al-Kahf 18 : 108]

Imam Ibn Kathir rahimahullah wrote in his tafseer that this aayah tells us how much the people of Jannah love and desire Jannah. Even though one might imagine that a person who stays in one place forever would get tired and bored of it, Allah tells us that despite this eternal stay, they will never choose to change or move from where they are. They will never choose or want anything else than Jannah.

And some scholars even said that there is no better praise of Jannah than Allah's statement of: ❛They will reside in it (forever), never desiring any transfer out of it.❜

There will never be a dull moment in Jannah. There will always be anticipation and excitement, and its inhabitants are constantly looking forward to the next amazing blessings and the next awesome adventure. May Allah make us one of them.

The regular crab checkmarks and rainbow crab checkmarks from Crab Day are now available in TumblrMart!

We’ve expanded Tumblr Live to more countries! Check out this Staff post for the latest update.

For those of you seeing the experimental new desktop site layout, we’ve made the Account & Settings submenu behavior a little more predictable: they now stay in the state you put them in (expanded or collapsed) as you navigate within the site.

We’ve removed the per-blog submenus from the main navigation in the experimental new desktop site layout. Clicking a blog will still go straight to its blog page, where you’ll still find links to blog subpages like Queue and Drafts in the sidebar on the right.

We’re continuing to declutter the Account menu on web, and find better homes for some of the items there. This time, we’ve moved the Help Center link to be with the footer links, which you can find resting at the bottom of the sidebar (on the desktop layout) or at the bottom of the navigation drawer (on the mobile layout).

On web, the drag handles for reordering blogs are now visible regardless of whether or not you’re hovering the blog with your cursor. However, they are still hidden on devices that report a touchscreen as the primary pointing mechanism.

There was a hiccup on the Following feed that was causing it to run out of posts yesterday, but that’s been fixed now. We’re still working on a few other bugs that could cause the Following feed to run out of posts erroneously.

Also on the Following feed, we noticed that we were filtering private posts from blogs you are a member of. We no longer do that. If you are a member of a blog, and a private post is published, you’ll see it on the Following feed.

Fixed an issue in the post editor on web that was causing media to re-upload when undoing/redoing certain changes.

Fixed a visual glitch on the activity page on web that was causing blog names to appear clipped at the bottom.

There was an issue in the iOS app that could cause a video to not start playing when opening it in the lightbox, the latest release (30.6.1) has a fix for this!

We’re aware that sometimes Spotify embeds are showing a “Not found” error, but may work if you try again. We’re investigating if this is an issue on our side or Spotify’s.
