I’m sensing a theme with your OC choices, Issy!😉 This must be the father section! First, we had Aslan, then Léon, then Elijah, and now we have John, James and Fili’s father!

Let’s see what Mr. Savage’s answers are!

🍕 - What is their favourite food?

Fish and chips. It might be stereotypical of him to say, but John loves a good plate of fish and chips! Fili teases his father by comparing him to people who only order chicken strips and fries at restaurants because if fish and chips are on the menu, John will be ordering them! John doesn't mind because he knows he’s guaranteed to like the food, so he prefers sticking to what he knows best.

🥊 -What do they love to do? What do they hate to do?

Love: Writing. John has always had a flair for writing and enjoys creating poems and short stories. Quinn always tells him he should try publishing his work, but John has never attempted it. Maybe one day, he’ll look into publishing his writing, but for now, he’s content with writing for just his family and friends.

Hate: Getting his picture taken. He doesn't mind so much when he’s taking photos with others in the frame, but when someone tries to take a solo picture of him, he tries to find an excuse to get the camera out of his face. He doesn't like being the center of attention and drawing it to himself (his scar does that enough), so John prefers to hide in the background and let others be in the spotlight.

❤️ - What is one of your OC’s best memories?

Reuniting with his oldest son, James. Even though John kept telling himself he had to leave and stay away for James’s protection, he was angry and disappointed in himself for leaving his son alone for so long. When Fili told him how James reacted to finding out he has a younger half-brother, John feared the damage he caused was irreversible… And while all was not forgiven when they finally reunited, James heard his father out, and John couldn't have been happier to be granted his greatest wish of hugging his oldest son. They still had issues to overcome and past mistakes to make up for, but John will cherish the memory of holding his boys close for the first time.

✂️ - What is one of your OC’s worst memories?

Leaving James when the man was just a child. John didn’t want to leave his son even if he and his first wife chose to separate, but his work forced him to do so to protect James. John will never forget the heartbroken look on James’s little face when he told the boy he had to leave and didn’t know when he would return. If John could have taken James with him, he would have, but he knew the boy would be safer in Grimsborough with his mother, so he did the hardest thing he ever had to do: leave his son. It's a decision John’s regressed since the day he walked out the door…

🧠 - What do you like most about the OC?

His design is probably my favourite. It's simple, but the scar across his face has always made him a favourite of mine. I also like his backstory (even though I need to add some things). He did so much for his family without them knowing, and he wanted no thanks or recognition for it; he just wanted the satisfaction of knowing his family was safe, healthy, and happy.

✏️ - How often do you draw/write about the OC?

Very little, considering that John has only made occasional cameos since finishing my S1 story. But with the return to Grimsborough in S5, I want to write more about him, Quinn, and James (the last one more than in canon) since Fili will be reuniting and living in the same city as his family again!

💎 - Do you ever see yourself killing off the OC?

No, the thought has honestly never crossed my mind. While I’m sure his death would cause a lot of heartbreak, I have no plans of killing John off!

After all, I don’t want an angry Quinn, James or Fili after me! (And that’s not counting extended family, friends and fans!)

💀 - Does your OC have any phobias?

Catoptrophobia - the fear of mirrors.

It's related to the scar across his face. Still need to work on the backstory for that…😭

🍩 -Who is your OC’s arch-nemesis or rival?

John currently doesn't have an arch-nemesis or rival. But he has plenty of enemies from his past as an MI6 spy, so I’m sure one of them could fit the profile if I were to build on the idea in the future!

✨- How did you come up with the OC’s name?

one of the earliest things i knew about birddog was that she was a scout unit, and i wanted the name for her to be a colloquial, tongue in cheek type way of referring to these units (their official designation is saint-hail), so something related to a hunting dog ended up being a fun choice!! i also like that its two parts - is the saint or the hail the bird or the dog? her chosen name, cory, is related to the scientific name of a species of dragonfly, i knew i wanted her to be linked to dragonflies from the start

🍕 - What is their favorite food?

i don’t have a great idea about what food culture looks like in the syzygy (esp with the exegesis specifically, cause they’re mostly inorganic) but birdie would LOVE a little street food snackie. whatever that looks like in this world

🍀 - What originally inspired the OC?

she is Just my destiny oc reskinned and with a new wip around her akdjjdjf. when i hadn’t been engaging with destiny as much i got upset that my poor baby june was trapped in there and i didn’t have as many excuses to think of her (she’s an all time fave oc) so i started going ‘hey, what are the important parts of her character and how can i use them in my own work?’. seeing as i love sci fi worldbuilding and my only other sci fi wip is…..a weirdo that i don’t work on often, it worked out great to be able to build a little world for her. and sci fi worldbuidling is fun!!

he gives off orange & vanilla vibes!! sweet but like a fresh sweet, cozy and classic dessert flavor, and very light and bright 🍊

alternatively, he could also be orange creamsicle flavor. basically the same thing but sweeter and milkier lol

he definitely would!

he wouldn't be super interested or invested in whether or not it brings luck (he asks himself enough existential questions without looking into good luck charms), but he would appreciate the rarity of actually finding one and the joy the search brings. he loves having a good time - he doesn't care where the fun comes from.

on a related note, someone *okay, one of my other characters* should take grant to one of those gem mining places. i think he'd be beyond giddy about finding even a tiny gem! a cool rock, even! doesn't even need to be a gem!

grant will accept anything; he's extremely easy to please. however, he does have a sweet tooth, so nice chocolates (even if stereotypical) would be perfect! he'd also be happy with a giant teddy bear.

(author's note: he doesn't know he needs a giant teddy bear but he most definitely does...)

his first memory is when he was about five and sitting in the backseat of his grandparents' very, very old car with his sisters and a cousin or two (aka way more kiddos than should have fit back there lol). his grandparents left them for like TWO minutes to run back inside and get the cooler because the whole family was meeting up at the lake for the day. while they were gone, he started fucking around with the crank for the back window and was fascinated when it did something, so he kept rolling the window up and down...

until a wasp flew in, which freaked everyone the hell out and also promptly stung shannon inside her ear. oop

🍕: How does an OC spend a lazy day?

LOL a lazy day for Azelphir... that's so relative when days at the abbey are so structured, and he is one of the leading sources of structure at the abbey. But. In times when life there is slower, and there are no new students and work is thin, he enjoys reading *gasp* not work-related books. He might also take a cup of tea (he isn't a coffee person) down into the archives and just sit there with the books and artifacts. Not in any it's-his-job sense, but simply to sit there and marvel at all the history and beauty they're surrounded by constantly. This, to him, is slacking off.

He will also spend more time than usual on his hair. He has some of the longest hair at the abbey (mid to low back) and it requires a lot of maintenance. On a lazy day, he'll spend longer at a mirror, longer going over his braids, letting his mind wander or even experimenting with new patterns to decorate with. Applying oils, fragrances, doing and undoing certain portions until he gets them just right. He thinks this indulgence is subtle, but anyone who walks past him on a day like that can smell the silly amount of fragrances and oils wafting off of him.

In the Good Universe, he also of course does all this with the abbey's naked and ratty dog, Tassel, at his side.

🍟: What does your OC admit to be their guilty pleasure? What actually is their guilty pleasure?

Azelphir is a known tea enjoyer and often will have multiple cups per day. He has occasionally lifted tea leaves from the tasseography stash and would never admit to this publicly. On occasion, he might lighten up enough to allow someone to witness him placing not one, but TWO whole sugar cubes in his tea. He also knows that some people have caught on to his pretty hair thing, and he will allow that.

However, he has a sweet tooth that he would NEVER admit, and sometimes those cups of tea have three to five sugar cubes in them. I like to think he carries some sugar cubes in his pockets so he can toss them in when people aren't looking. He swipes the left over snacks from Collation. It's his job to keep inventory, after all.

Fish! Sirens keep certain kinds of large fish (that I have yet to design) as livestock-- Tethys possibly had a job related to that, or related to hunting. Sometimes cooked, sometimes not, especially since they haven't been able to easily get on land in decades.

🥊 -What do they love to do? What do they hate to do?

Can't think of any specific activities so I'll go more general/personality. She loves diving headfirst into Situations without acknowledging her own safety first. She hates waiting for things to resolve on their own if she feels she can intervene. Very impulsive, at least once she's provoked.

❤️ - What is one of your OC’s best memories?

Probably a peaceful moment with her family, before everything went wrong. Her braiding her kid's hair, her wife Delphine nearby. An afternoon with good, chill vibes. Tethys probably looks back on times like that a lot and it Hurts.

✂️ - What is one of your OC’s worst memories?

SPEAKING OF! That would be the day she lost her family. Pirates in this universe have ways to raze underwater villages, equipment to dive down themselves and fight... Did you know sirens float to the surface when they die?

I've entertained the thought of her having a brother she hasn't seen in years, but none currently!

Fire. (Not a huge fear, but one that makes sense for her.)

Captain Whitlock. He's the pirate captain responsible for destroying her village and ruining her life. She's now dedicated her life to tracking him down, taking back an important magical artifact he stole, and killing him.

Well, most Sonic character names are just a word related to them. I looked up some ghost words and picked something that sounded good. I wasn't really sold on specter as a name tbh, but it's grown on me.

Late twenties I think? Not very old but definitely an adult.

🌺- Do they have any love interest(s)?

She's in a lovely relationship with her girlfriend Patella the Bat!

I'm not sure. Probably some kind of breakfast food.

Ghost punching is her main thing, but she does other odd jobs in-between gigs.

She likes to bake every now and then! She's pretty good at making loaves of bread.

Again, ghost punching.

She loves riding her motorcycle, loves the feeling of going fast and the wind on her face. Hates menial household chores.

One time she took Patella out for a ride. The weather was perfect and they had a picnic afterwards.

One of the first jobs she did, before she really knew what she was doing. She got possessed and some of her clients got injured. They were lucky no one died.

Yes.

I think I wanted to do a porcupine because sonic-style hedgehogs are fun to draw but there's already a lot of them. A few of her design elements are lifted from photos of cape porcupines. I'm not sure about the rest of it.

Urban Fantasy for sure! Something with a monster of the week format and some slice of life elements.

Vance - He doesn't really have a preference! Eating is more a means to an end for him, so if anything I think he'd just prefer certain textures. oh, my god, ok. okay.

Matteo - He's not someone who makes many like, mortal enemies/nemesis'. However. He fucking HATES Cassius and also Fletcher. He hates Cassius for killing and cult-enslaving a ton of people, ruining lives and nearly killing him and Ellis.

He hates Fletcher even more than that, because Fletcher is Ellis' abusive father, and he literally throws himself on that wretched man mid-rampage while he's werewolf shifted and starts clawing kicking and fighting him to get him to leave Ellis alone.

He gets Very hurt, Ellis shuts down and has a panic attack, its a horrible time! Fletcher goes to jail though so there's that. I think he'd consider Fletcher his absolute fucking beloathed nemesis of all time

Cassius gets sent back to his weird dimension and his brother gets to laugh @ him the whole way back. he's more a stinky little shitstain to Matteo than a real Rival or Nemesis

Melanie - She becomes rivals/nemesis with Syrin even though they're related - his betrayal of their whole syndicate thing, and him having and giving up the life she idolized for so long just like. Turns her to Evil. I mean she was already evil, but it makes her wanna be more evil @ him. LMAO
