Edith and Edward would be murderous. Actually, I really should add the option to bring this up in their first conversation. For now I think any insecurities about their father's words are up to headcanon? I specifically kept it vague in that scene, but considering the MC's upbringing and the loss of their only friend it wouldn't be surprising for them to have a warped perspective of themself. It's not a bad idea to explore the possibilities!

I believe his intense need to have a plan/schedule for everything would count for this. Of course, wanting to be prepared isn’t a bad thing! He just tends to panic when he doesn’t have one, or gets overly frustrated when events stray away from what he’s predicted.

I find that all understandable though, considering the scale of his work and… well… who his boss is. It’s also relatable! I don’t react the same way he does, but having a plan for whatever I’m doing is really important for me too.

But, of course, I also find his in-general awkwardness to be absolutely adorable 🥺🥺🥺… and also relatable BWJSKDKF

those of you who have followed for a while remember when I hosted sleepovers every saturday night, and they were always so fun. I'm too busy to do that now, but when I saw that I had (somehow, miraculously) reached thirty thousand followers (!?!?!?!), I knew this was the only way to celebrate.

For most of them, I have multiple of a selection of playlist, moodboard, character portraits and pictures taken ingame, commissioned art and a cover. They're usually linked on the masterlist, while the cover and the art make it into the pdf/ebook.

📖 [Open Book] What form do you want this WIP to take when it’s done? Posted, printed, published, etc?

That's pretty much the same for (almost) everything so far: I want to print it as paperback for myself, and offer it as free download on my website.

The exception is Thorns and Jasmine, which I will probably never have the patience to edit, so it'll stay on Tumblr only, and Twisted Thorns, which I don't know yet. The temptation to try my luck at indie publishing is high, but the energy is low.

I am currently sitting in a corner crying because I let docs count the amount of times "By the time" appeared in my latest draft.

2024 Week 35 Notes: Gotta Restart Somewhere

In an effort to reclaim some of my joy from the gaping maw of existential dread, I’ve restarted my weeknotes.

Concentrating on

Running (again)! I miss training for and running races, so I’ve revisited the Couch to 5k program to regain that level of fitness.

Cultivating

✍🏻 Outlining a short story for a collection I saw and got very excited about.

🧶 I’m knitting a gift for someone. Shh!

🥘 Food I made that went better than I expected:

The Best Crispy Roast Potatoes Ever: With a name like that, I expected to be disappointed. I was not.

Caprese Salad: With homegrown tomatoes and basil. Yep.

Corn Salad with Tomatoes, Feta, and Mint: Our homegrown tomatoes' delicate flavor got lost in the jumble, but it was a magnificent jumble nonetheless.

🇮🇹 On a Duolingo streak, aiming for basic Italian fluency by the end of 2024.

💼 I told someone recently that I haven’t figured out how to fully disengage from my job so I can recover energy for my not-job self. Meredith Farkas has written extensively about the normalization of overwork (her blog is excellent) and I read each of her posts with both vindication and despondency.

🎲 I haven’t spent much time playing boardgames or puzzles lately, but I’ve rediscovered my love of crossword puzzles. I prefer doing them offline, but I also enjoy the daily Cross|word on Puzzmo.

📺 We’re almost caught up with all of “Fargo” now. I enjoyed the second season the most.
