Sorry but isn’t it,, a little weird to write ei with a male reader when she’s lesbian coded?
its not.
no ifs, ands, buts about it.
especially considering:
a) shes not confirmed to be a lesbian and lesbian coded doesnt mean jack to me
b) even if she was, people are allowed to have/request an au in which she's a different sexuality than her confirmed one (as long as they respect her canon identity and dont erase it)
i understand not being a fan of certain characters behaving or being seen as in a certain way but i hope realize that something being "coded" in media is still just a headcanon held by the fandom, even if strongly supported and it will stay that way unless eventually confirmed by the creators (in which case, the idea just goes from "it could be" to "it is" and anything non aligning remains a HC or AU).
but in this scenario, I and the person requesting this didn't do anything wrong or weird. they wanted to enjoy a character they like while said character acted in a way that they liked. i wanted to write it for them.
and in the case of ei? extremely close relationships with other powerful women (who may or may not have spent thousands of years by each others side) isn't enough in my opinion to claim gospel. and even if it was enough, people can still have their AUs and their HCs. so its not from hurting anyone by requesting something where a character's sexuality is different than what someone else thinks.
but it is weird to try to police others on something as silly as this.

https://www.tumblr.com/olderthannetfic/746553097204203521/the-fandom-hates-women-response-to-lack-of-ff
The "fandom hates women" part of it comes from the fact that fandom as an entity just doesn't watch the kind of media that draws femslash, even if it ticks all of the boxes of things those very same people say they like. There are so many times I've watched a show that I've seen mega-popular Tumblr posts wishing existed, and then the fandom is so, so small comparatively and often in general. There have been superheroes, vampire/supernatural shows, fantasy shows, movies, books, the list goes on, that feel like they were generated out of Tumblr's desires for ideal fandom media, and everyone knows they're never going to attract anywhere near the same attention for fandom and fanworks because the common denominator just tends to be that if there isn't a full ensemble of attractive men to ship either with each other or with the women, fandom's not interested.
So it's not about prioritizing women in that sense, it's about people witnessing hypocrisy over and over again the second a show doesn't have a mostly-male ensemble. The people who are in these fandoms are frustrated that good faith attempts to get people interested are met with every excuse in the book that all eventually boils down to "I don't like watching stuff with women in it as much as I like watching stuff with men in it." And if that's how people feel about it... sometimes the conclusions are going to turn into the more uncharitable take of "fandom hates women."
--
Maybe, but whenever I see a "fandom hates women" reblog of my stuff, one or two reblogs further down the chain I get an overt TERF. I just had to go block several people today, in fact.
The first person to reblog with a comment like that is usually subtle, but their friends and friends of friends are not. The rhetoric that very quickly starts is the fandom equivalent of that "All the butches are becoming trans men! We're losing lesbians!" stuff.
Here's the thing: I've been in ten billion fandoms that were so awesome and fit fandom's supposed tastes to a T and yet no amount of promoting them could get anyone to try the canon. This goes for canons that are all men or all white men or all majority ethnicity men or whatever else.
The default state of media is to not engender a big fic fandom.
I agree that the rare outliers mostly follow certain patterns, but we extrapolate too far when we say that a lack of those patterns is why a fandom is small.
A fandom is small because that's the near-universal default.
--
Yes, a small slice of fandom consists of guilt-ridden queer fujoshi who say they want more f/f but don't make much of a move to make that happen. I tend to run into that a lot because of my own tastes and having friends who share those tastes.
Far more of fandom is people talking generally about how representation matters without saying they would personally join these fandoms if they existed.
Neither group is large enough to be the real reason some woman-heavy canon fails to take off to HP levels.
The real reason is not hypocrisy but the fact that most things don't take off like that. Most things without massive, massive audiences especially don't take off like that. And the very few things that do are flukes and don't actually predict that another similar thing will take off in the future.
--
Go to AO3's tag search. Search for all canonical fandom tags. Sort by uses and descending order.
Right now, I get 64,390 tags.
The first page, 50 tags, goes from HP with 497,845 works to the Thor movies with 59,266 works. By page 6, we're below 10 thousand works.
By the end of page 10, we're down to Labyrinth with 3,906.
Somewhere in the top 500 AO3 fandom tags (many of which are just franchise metatags for each other), we go all the way from megafandoms to medium size and down to relatively modest ones.
That's not a lot of room for a big f/f-heavy fandom given the trends in mainstream media and that mainstream media is where most really big fandoms come from.
--
I also notice that you're conflating a lack of desire to watch something that's primarily about women with a lack of desire to watch something that includes women.
There are tons of fans who want something more like The Mummy with a leading man and leading woman they love.
Granted, that's not me and that's not a lot of my fujoshi/slasher audience, but it's extraordinarily common. I know plenty of people who don't like canons that are only dudes, but since they also don't like canons that are only ladies and they don't ship f/f, this gets spun into "fandom hates women".
--
Let me be clear:
Conflating "lesbians" and "women" is a radfem position.

Queer League of Legends Champions (with explanations) – Part I
Tumblr media
Confirmed Lesbians – Neeko, Leona, Diana, Caitlyn, Vi
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Starting off with probably the most known LGBTQ+ characters of Riot, we have Neeko, Leona, Diana, Caitlyn, and Vi, all canon lesbians. Neeko's sexuality was a big deal when first announced, not only because she was the first canon queer champion of League but also because her sexuality is explicitly portrayed through her voice lines, as she often flirts with female champions and shows a disinterest in the Shoo'ma of men she shapeshifts into.
A number of different Rioters have confirmed that Leona and Diana were always meant to be lovers, but someone at Riot Management decided against it, and so they were portrayed as almost sisterly in the old lore. Fast-forward to the present day, they are gay and LOUD about it! The Rise With Me short story officially canonized the couple, and official pride art showed both of them with the lesbian flag.
Caitlyn and Vi were already a popular ship before their romantic interest in one another became explicit, as shown in Arcane, Legends of Runeterra, and more subtly in the Warriors cinematic. They have also been shown in official pride art holding or wearing the lesbian flag, and they even share a Valentine's Day skin. It's worth adding that Vi also shares another romance-themed skin line with Fiora, and they seem to be very good friends there, but we'll get into that later.
Confirmed Gays – K'Sante, Graves, Aphelios
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
K'Sante's sexuality, like Neeko's, has been an important part of his character since release. His cinematic and color story both mention Tope, his past male lover, and he was the face of League Pride 2023 alongside Vi.
Graves and Twisted Fate were reportedly, like Diana and Leona, meant to be lovers from day one, but Riot didn't like that (how novel) and scratched that part of their story, simply leaving them as crime partners, nothing else. Burning Tides and Destiny and Fate have been amazing at developing their relationship, but the real confirmation comes with The Boys and Bombolini, which officially confirmed Graves as gay and T.F. as being attracted to him.
Lastly, we have Aphelios. He and Sett have been a popular ship since the Spirit Blossom release, a skin line that makes them boyfriends, which already confirms him as queer. Throughout this year, Riot has been reposting and sharing Settphel art, which doesn't necessarily mean anything, but what really grabs attention is that they also shared fanart of Aphelios with the toothpaste gay flag, leading me to classify him as such.
Confirmed Bisexuals – Nami, Rell, Sett
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nami surprised pretty much everyone when her addition to Legends of Runeterra confirmed her as polyamorous, being in a relationship with Loto and Tama, other Marai of her tribe. One of the people who worked on her character explicitly highlighted the relationship and affirmed that Nami was pansexual. Since then, Riot has promoted her (through official pride art and LoR emotes) as bisexual. It's a bit unclear how she should be labeled, but one thing is sure: she's queer.
Rell is another champion whose queerness was stated on her debut. Rell had flirtatious lines with both men and women in League and was explicitly labeled as bisexual by her creators, also being confirmed through official pride art.
Finally, there's Sett. People have been speculating on his sexuality for a while, but things changed when Spirit Blossom came along, and he was portrayed as Aphelios' boyfriend. Since then, Sett has been seen in reposted League fanart with the bi flag.

What do you make of David sayin he’s an ally, not an active participant (in queer subcultures)?
Did he come out as straight? I’m not sure anyone has ever asked him directly, not that he needs to give any explanations, I’m just curious because he gives off such a queer vibe even when he’s been married forever.
https://www.attitude.co.uk/culture/david-tennant-on-the-spice-girls-spiceworld-movie-was-being-developed-before-they-even-released-a-single-459815/
Tumblr media
Oh, my Asks/DMs have been blowing up over this one. I did have a chance to read this interview with David (is it me, or is he doing nonstop press lately?) and...wow. Definitely enjoyable, and noticeably more unhinged/queer than most of his other interviews (which makes sense, given that Attitude is an LGBTQ-focused publication). But let's get a screenshot up of the most talked about bit, so we can discuss:
Tumblr media
Obviously there is a lot going on here, so I'm just going to go with what stood out to me most. I don't think there is anything in the world less surprising than David naming bears first, given certain preferences of his (which I've discussed several times previously on my blog).
What's really interesting though is that the question was asking about queer subcultures, but all of the ones David listed are used primarily (AFAIK, though someone please do correct me if I am wrong) in mlm/gay male relationships. "Queer" can be many things, after all--gay, lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, ace--and yet when David heard "queer subcultures" he specifically went for the mlm/gay ones, and that definitely feels like an interesting choice.
The second thing that I felt was worth discussing is that a lot of the reactions I've seen to this is people saying how adorably clueless David is, or how "he's a little confused, but he's got the spirit." And I'm sort of perplexed by this because we are talking about an almost 53-year-old man here, and I believe he knows damn well what all of those terms/subcultures are.
It's been brought to my attention (from what I would consider a very trustworthy source) that David is not at all as technologically illiterate as he pretends to be. Instead, it's actually part of a persona that he puts on to avoid dealing with issues that would arise from people knowing he is online. I had an inkling of this just from Georgia saying David was the one who set up all the equipment for when they filmed Staged at home (because why would such a task be put in the hands of someone who is hopeless with technology?). But having this confirmed also aligns with David creating a fake personal assistant in the early days of his career so he wouldn't have to fulfill certain social obligations, and to put a barrier between his real self and the world.
So why, then, wouldn't the same pattern possibly apply here?
I know there also tends to be this image of David as a "bumbling, goofy dad" type, and that's definitely part of him and what makes him so charming. But I don't think he is a fool, either--especially not after listening to him talk about Shakespeare or politics or anything else at length--and I think he certainly knows how to answer these types of questions. I think David is more than clever enough to give answers that are cheeky but not revealing, because he knows the purpose of all this is to promote the BAFTAs, not to be a deep, probing expos on the life and times of David Tennant.
Which then brings me to the big, gay elephant standing in the middle of the room--a.k.a., "I'm an ally rather than an active participant." (Again...so many interesting word choices going on here, and none of it feels like an accident.)
Going back to what I mentioned about the focus of these interviews, I'd like to point out one notable thing that David himself said in the Radio Times interview earlier this week:
Tumblr media
This, I think, sums up what we are seeing in all of these interviews: The version of David that he feels is safe to present to the world. He makes it clear as well that he is not going to reveal areas of his personal life while up on stage, and I would say that the same thing applies to these interviews. (It also speaks volumes that in the year 2024, the version of himself he feels safe presenting in these interviews is one who fully knows what bears and twinks--sorry, twinkies--are.)
So no, I don't think David is coming out as straight. I don't think he's coming out as anything, in fact, because he knows these interviews are not the place for that to happen. And I think that saying he is an ally but not an active participant makes the most sense as an answer for a public interview, but neither that nor being in a straight-passing relationship necessarily makes him any less potentially queer.
To reiterate what I said above, there is no one way to be queer. For some people, being queer absolutely can mean going to leather bars and participating in subcultures. But for other people, "queer" can mean something very different. It can mean being a Kinsey 2 just floating along doing your thing until you meet that one person who changes everything. The person who makes you go, "I've usually been more into this and not as much into this...but I'm definitely into you." It can mean being attracted to/falling for someone--a co-star, maybe?--that you never expected to feel that way about. And if David is queer, maybe that also means not shying away from anything, but at the same time not wanting to take the spotlight off the awards and the nominees celebrating one of the most important nights of their lives.
Those are my thoughts on the Attitude interview and David's answers, at any rate. Happy as always to hear from my followers with your takes. Thank you for writing in! x

Nichelle Nichols Vs. Yvonne Craig
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda
Nichelle Nichols - (Star Trek) - She speaks for herself. Legendary, iconic, at the forefront of feminism and civil rights in the 60s, she is a triple threat who did so much more. She volunteered from 1977 to promote recruitment diversity within NASA, including some of the first female and ethnic minority astronauts. Martin Luther King Jr. compared her work on Star Trek as a 'vital role model' to the civil rights marches. She refused to be dismissed, fought for visibility and shone whilst doing so. As a woman in stem, and simply a woman she means the world and stars above to me.
Yvonne Craig - (Batman, Star Trek) - 7 year old me didn't know she was a lesbian but she sure knew she liked batgirl
Master Poll List of the Hot Vintage TV Ladies Bracket
Additional propaganda below the cut
Nichelle Nichols:
She is the original badass babe. She was a black woman in a leading role on TV in the 60s, a trailblazer for black actresses for years to come. She is so beautiful and so awesome.
Tumblr media
she's fantastic. have you seen her? paved the way for black actresses on TV even while her lines and scenes were being cut and improvised the most iconic uhura line in the series. (sulu: "I'll save you, fair maiden!" uhura, pushing him away: "sorry, neither!") she's incredibly talented and it's a crime the show didn't give her more screen time (or make her sing more often because she also has a beautiful voice!)
Tumblr media
“Sorry, neither” in response to “fair maiden” was ad libbed by her. There’s a lot more I could say but what else do you need??
Tumblr media
A sci-fi icon!
Tumblr media
She was such a trailblazer, and Uhura was such an important character for so many people to be able to see on TV. Apparently Mae Jemison (the first African American woman to go into space) cited her as a reason she wanted to become an astronaut. She was just an absolute legend!
Tumblr media
The story of Martin Luther King telling her not to quit Star Trek gives me chills. Representation matters. “Thank you so much, Dr. King. I’m really going to miss my co-stars.” Dr. King's smile, Nichols recalled, vanished from his face. "He said, 'What are you talking about?'" the actress explained. "I told him. He said, 'You cannot,' and so help me, this man practically repeated verbatim what Gene said. He said, 'Don’t you see what this man is doing, who has written this? This is the future. He has established us as we should be seen. 300 years from now, we are here. We are marching. And this is the first step. When we see you, we see ourselves, and we see ourselves as intelligent and beautiful and proud.' He goes on and I’m looking at him and my knees are buckling. I said, 'I…, I' And he said, 'You turn on your television and the news comes on and you see us marching and peaceful, you see the peaceful civil disobedience, and you see the dogs and see the fire hoses, and we all know they cannot destroy us because we are there in the 23rd Century.'"
Tumblr media
She shared the first interracial kiss on Star Trek, helped propel real life African American women into space-related careers, and looks divine in a mini skirt.

HOW DID UHURA WALK BACKWARDS SO FAR??? WOW!

thoughts on sokka and zuko's netflix actors ian ousley and dallas liu (jokingly?) teasing zukka in interviews? are they queerbaiting?
Tumblr media
For those who don't know what the fuck queerbaiting is: you know how Disney announced "it's first openly gay character" in literally every movie they've been releasing lately, and these "characters" are always on screen for only 5 seconds so it won't annoy conservatives or be banned in China?
That's them trying to use the promise of gay content to get people (be it gay people or someone that just wants to know if Disney will handle the subject properly) to watch their stuff. It's just false advertizing in rainbow colors.
Netflix, being the cheap bastards that they are, love using "We got minorities in this!" to advertise either their bland, bad shows that will get a million seasons, or the rare good show that they'll cancel way too soon because they seem to be alergic to quality. Either way, the gay content they promise audiences is usually there - you know, it's just not good because Netflix hates good things. Hell, they made Oma and Shu a lesbian couple from what I've seen.
Considering I've heard that the cast of the Avatar Live Action is pretty comfortable dunking on Zutara as a ship despite it being crazy popular and some fans literally only watching the show because they thought it'd make Zutara canon, and even having the balls of saying their show is less problematic than the OG one because they cut the plot of Sokka unlearning sexism, I'd say they're not claiming to like Zukka because some executive told them to, in the hopes of getting people to watch. The actors are probably either two buddies joking around because "Dude, what if our characters got together?" or saw some fanart/headcanon on Twitter and rolled with it.
So no, it's not queerbaiting, it's just actors voicing their opinion - basically the same as the Wedneday situation. The actresses for Wednesday and Enid ship their characters, but Netflix never gave any indication that these two would be a thing, and the internet only cried QUEERBAITING because people can't accept that sometimes the goth girl and the girly girl don't kiss because none of the writers even thought about making them gay.
And before someone inevitably goes "Oh but one/both of them are straight/don't want to discuss their own sexualities - are they queerbaiting when showing excitment at the idea of their characters hooking up?"
1 - Real people can't queerbait because their sexuality is a personal matter, not a product meant for other people to consume.
2 - If Netflix does want to make Zukka a thing (and I've seen nothing to sugest that they do) and starts promoting it, it's the CHARACTERS that would have to be gay, not the actors. I'm pretty sure Zuko's actor can't create/control flames at the palm of his hand, but that doesn't mean he's lying to people, he's just an actor acting. Even if and Sokka's actor have to play a gay couple at some point, it won't be queerbaiting for them to do so and even be excited for it/thinks it makes sense for their characters, regardless of what sexuality they are in real life, because the actors are not their characters they're just people doing a job.

A THING I HAD TO SAY
Why do so many people dni pro/comshippers? They're just people like everyone else. They ship because they see it as a ship. Just like everyone else. Eg Dreammare is literally a ship between two fictional talking skeletons who don't need organs or muscles at all and rely on magic. They're not even real. Yes they're brothers but brothers who are two fictional talking skeletons who don't need organs or muscles at all and rely on magic and emotions to survive and not die. I just don't see why people dni them. It's fiction and not even promoting it irl. Get a grip people.
I hate it when I look at a friend's masterpost and I see "dni pro/comshippers!". I really do.
I get it if the ships feel weird to you that makes sense.
I myself am a proshipper because I ship dreammare! It doesn't mean a prompt incest irl. But I like the ship dreammare and that's because it's my preference! You don't have to like it and no one is forcing you! If you don't like it then just try to avoid it and don't interact with it! That's the best I can say and I hope it helps!
410 people have blocked me so far because I support pro/comshippers and because I am a proshipper. If fine with this. But I still don't like that.

Why is it always the people who have routinely ignored 911's diverse cast of characters and made the show only about buddie for years and years that are accusing tevan fans (most of whom are actually queer people) of racism and misogyny.
Like i didn't see y'all talking about the racism and misogyny (mostly misogyny bc most of em were white) that actually HAS been rampant for years and years and fucking YEARS against all of the actors that played Buck and Eddie's love interests.
But sure the problem is tevan fans who are largely minding their own business and just don't see any point in basing their interpretation of a character on his actions from nearly two decades ago as who he is (especially when said character has been textually confirmed to have apologised/made up for and grown past the negative behaviours several times) in the present day.
While we're on the topic of how much buddies care about women and people of colour here's some screenshots that i believe speak for themselves
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sure Ana wasn't a great character. I always disliked her for how she handled the Chris situation in s3 so I can still somewhat understand fics against her. But what have Madney and Hen ever done to deserve so much bashing in fics. I've even read popular fics that aren't tagged as bashing but still portray Maddie in a bad light for being stuck in an abusive relationship and needing to leave when she was struggling with post-partum depression
But sure. It's the tevan shippers that are bringing misogyny and racism into the fandom. It's not at all the buddies who literally attacked JLH and Kenneth for promoting a canon queer ship over a non canon ship on fucking Instagram.
Buddies are true warriors for us queer women of colour I tell ya.
The buddie/911 fandom cares soooo much about women and lesbians and henren just look at how many fics are in their ao3 tag after the seven years that they've been the primary queer pairing on the show compared to buddie which has been around one less season and isn't canon... Oh wait
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's so much more annoyed ranting living inside me but I have a job to get back to bc I'm actually an adult with real-world problems that don't involve imaginary bigotry from a fandom that was literally born a month ago 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
Addition: buddies be aware that your performative cries of misogyny and racism do nothing to hide your blatant homophobia

Happy Pride Month 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️...check out Splatoon!!🦑🐙
Splatoon is so diverse when it comes to sexuality and gender. Don't believe me? Here's a list:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pearl and Marina, also known as Off the Hook - the most unsubtle non-confirmed lesbian couple (but it's pretty much canon by now). Check out this post full of evidence!
Acht - the series' first major confirmed nonbinary character, using they/them pronouns, correcting mistranslations from both official sources and fan translations. (Also commonly headcanoned as aroace or other variations, based on their reactions to romantic scenes between Off the Hook)
Orion (the green one) - nonbinary character from the supporting cast, confirmed by this dialogue from their friend. (Only video I could find of the dialogue in quesiton)
The band Diss-Pair - commonly headcanoned as a gay couple based on the fact that they appear in the Valentine's Day artwork for 2019 (by extension, the giant group in the front can be a polycule, if you really want them to be)
Cipher...
And
6. Smollusk - ^ both characters who use it/its pronouns. Listed on their individual wiki pages.
7. Finn - a presumed transgender female fish if we think about real life betta fish biology.
8. Shiver - initially speculated to be nonbinary, based on their pronouns in the Japanese version. Later confirmed to be female in English.
Some of these are more canon than others, but let's just have fun regardless, yeah? And celebrate what we do have!
Some more things I can think of:
Craig Cuttlefish and DJ Octavio - popularly headcanoned as the 'textbook definition of old men yaoi lovers to enemies 🎵'
Agent 24 - popular ship between Agent 3 and Agent 8 (3x8=24, math puns!), due to promotional art + 2020's Valentines Day Artwork. (The characters often change in gender in appearence in promotional artwork)
Multiple ships between the games large cast of female characters
Removal of gendered hair/clothing options in Splatoon 3.
Various same-sex ships from the spin-off manga, Coroika.
Multiple of the above pairings listed are Inkling/Octoling ships (Squid/Octopus) - a reoccuring theme in the game is the opression of Octolings, mirroring real world issues of discrimination and 'forbidden love.'
Jumping off from that middle point, the game is female-centric (with lots of female characters + the default for the playable character being female-presenting), as the developers discuss in a 2015 Famitsu interview:
Tumblr media
Splatoon has always been a franchise where hopefully people can see themselves represented in game, particularly young girls. As the franchise develops, more and more diverse characters are added for this exact purpose.
This is an amazing series where hopefully all sorts of people can feel represented in one way or another!
Sorry if I got any details about any of the characters/events wrong - I'm going off of my memory and observations about the fandom, mostly. I just really wanted to share these facts with everyone! You're welcome to share your own intrepratations and facts in the reblogs too! :) Let me know if I missed anything!
Happy pride! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🦑🐙

the „queer community“ and their activism is detrimental to gay and lesbian as well as womens and childrens rights.
they promote these harmful ideas:
sexuality is fluid (implying that sexuality can change, which is what homophobes think as well which is why conversion therapy exists)
sex change is possible
trans and lgb are inherently linked (even though half of the trans community is heterosexual)
lgb are queer, but so are tqia+, opening up gay and lesbian spaces to straight people
lgb are queer, and kink is queer, reinforcing the idea that homosexuality is sexual deviancy
„queer“ as an umbrella term doesnt just connect gays and lesbians to straight people and fetishists but sometimes even to pedophiles
transgenderism is beautiful and not a product of internalised homophobia and misogyny resulting in severe body dysmorphia, or a fetish
gender is fluid so we dont need female-only spaces
words dont mean anything and anyone using any label is valid
individual identity is more important than the protection of clearly defined marginalised groups
gender is a construct but also a valid identity (literally a paradox)
the body and mind are separate entities
transhumanism
feminism is responsible for all marginalised groups
question and deconstruct everything but also dont ever question someone‘s identity (another paradox)
sex has no definition (but sex can be changed; yet another paradox)
there is no inherent shame in any kink, not even in pedophilia
actually nothing is real so do we even need an age of consent?
porn and prostitution are just expressions of sexuality there is nothing inherently wrong with it

Are there some things you dislike about fans' interpretation of the other mercs?
Yeah uh. This is long so it's under the cut. Whole TF2 fandom boutta be like 2Fort on my arse.
I hate how people make Medic "evil". He's fun and goofy and likes doing experiments and he'll betray the people paying him for the sake of his long-time coworkers who he's mates with. He's not evil, he's not manipulative, outsmarting the LITERAL DEVIL doesn't make you a bad person. There is literally nothing in canon to point to Medic being evil except MAYBE stealing a bloke's spine (coulda been dark humour for all we know) and turning a criminal into a sentient pumpkin, which is something that Engie HELPED HIM DO but no one goes around calling him evil. Medic is chaotic good or chaotic neutral, he is not evil.
The amount of people who are downright racist about Demo, or the amount of people who reduce his addiction to the butt of a joke. There's a lot of shit that I notice. They act like Demo isn't fiercely loyal—look at his relationship to his mum). They act like he's lazy because he's an alcoholic—HE HAS 3 JOBS AND WANTS MORE, HE WASN'T LAZY IN THE COMICS HE WAS DEPRESSED BECAUSE HE LOST ALL HIS MATES. On the other end of the coin, you have people insisting that Demo's alcoholism isn't as bad as it actually is, as if substance abuse is a fucking moral failing and they can't have their blorbo be a bad person by just letting him be the alcoholic he's shown to be in canon.
As an intersex man: do not get me fucking started on the amount of intersex+NB headcanons I've seen of Pyro. People need to realise that like the rest of the human population, most intersex people are cis, that gender is not equivalent to sex, and that EVERY intersex character being non-binary promotes a harmful stereotype. Actually I'll be honest—I side-eye EVERY intersex Pyro headcanon what's made by a perisex person. Most the time they give off massive virtue signal vibes and I really don't like how the second you can't clearly determine someone's gender people immediately go "ah, intersex" like we're all visually androgynous. I also don't like how the person MOST OTHERED ON THE TEAM is always given the intersex headcanon. It doesn't make me feel represented, it makes me feel like everyone already seems me as an other and that's all I'll ever be.
People who act like the pronoun police and insist Pyro's pronouns are they/them. Canonically Pyro is always and consistently referred to as he/him except when he's being dehumanised by his own team and called it. It's cool if you headcanon Pyro as using they/them, just remember it ISN'T CANON and you shouldn't be getting on people's arse about non-canon pronouns. What are you a cop?
On a similar vein, the amount of people who infantilise Pyro. Pyro was literally the CEO OF A COMPANY who was responsible for RECORD PROFITS OF THAT COMPANY. Pyro is an adult. People assume that because Pyro hallucinates or enjoys "childish" things that it means Pyro's a child. Please be fucking normal about mental illness, my god.
People who make Scout transfem for the sole purpose of shipping Scout with Pauling, worse even if they outright make it so that Scout transitioned SPECIFICALLY to hook up with Pauling. You realise that you're enforcing TERF "all transfems are predatory and transition just to get chicks/transfem lesbians are just straight men" rhetoric right? Please tell me you're aware. People who make Scout transfem for reasons beside this (ie you just like transfem Scout) and still hook her up with Pauling for fun, I love you and this post is not about you. <3
People who ignore Medic's likely bisexuality in favour of writing him as a strictly gay male. Bi erasure is fucking real lads. If you have the view that Demo was talking out his arse and didn't actually shag Medic's wife cuz he's not even married, cool ok. I'm talking about the people who insist Medic's wife was his beard.
People who act like the ship police with Pauling's sexuality when her being a lesbian was something mentioned in one tweet on Twitter by Jay, not approved by Valve, and never referenced in the source material (outside of MAYBE how she stared at Zhanna while she was fighting robots, but that facial expression could also be interpreted as impressed or "so horrified she can't look away". Especially when she outright agreed to go on a second date with Scout in Expiration Date. If you headcanon her as a lesbian, cool! Just don't enforce it on other people and give them flak for shipping her with non-women characters. This applies to people aggressively enforcing Medic's sexuality as well. What are you a cop?
How the character people trans the most is the white skinny twink, white skinny otter, or white wolf. Why not Demo? Trans people of colour exist too. I can count the trans Demo headcanons I've seen on one hand. Why not Heavy? Why not Heavy? You know fat trans people exist too right?
My family is southern and half the time people don't know what the fuck goes on down south. Tell me you've never been to a cookout without telling me you've never been to a cookout. They either write him as too northern/coasty and only enforce the "stereotype" southern aspects of him, or they write him as racist/homophobic/transphobic/etc because he's southern. Luckily the latter gets a LOT of pushback on Tumblr so I haven't seen it much, but it's more prevalent on Twitter and fanfic sites.
People conveniently ignoring how Heavy's father was killed and his family was imprisoned by the USSR so they can call him a communist. Lol what. I get that you hate capitalism but you realise there's more options than just capitalism vs communism vs socialism right? That you can hate/dislike communism without also being a capitalist? Heavy would not support communism after what the USSR did to his family in the name of communism because his father was a counter-revolutionary. Also people ignoring WHY Heavy's father was killed, and how his father having different politics got his whole family, including innocent children chucked to a GULAG IN SIBERIA where they were starved and constantly abused by the guards, and how even after their escape the government continued to hunt them with the intent of killing them. He would not be a communist. He probably sees a hammer and sickle in his fucken nightmares.
Spy being evil and an arsehole. You know his schtick is the suave gentleman right? He's cool but he also has to be cringefail. And arsehole is a far cry from a gentleman.
People making Soldier a bigot. Har har I know it's funny to joke about the bloke obsessed with America being a bigot, but do you honestly think he cares enough? He's xenophobic at worst. Everyone is assumed to be American and his best mate is a black Scottish cyclops. Half the time I'm convinced you people want Soldier to be a bigot so you can write bigoted shit and not cop shit cuz it's coming out of his mouth.
Carrying on from prev, the amount of people I've seen use the time setting as an excuse to be bigoted towards the characters. This is ESPECIALLY prevalent where it seems like every story-focussed fic of Demo has a scene where someone is being racist to him and he Heroically Sticks Up For Himself or someone else sticks up for him to show How Much They Don't Care About Being Seen With A Black Man (usually it's Soldier, sometimes it's Sniper). You realise everyone knows racism is bad, right? That that's really not necessary? It wouldn't be an issue if it wasn't in EVERY FIC but it's like the author always needs to proudly claim themselves Not Racist while writing REALLY RACIST SHIT directed at the ONE CONFIRMABLE MAN OF COLOUR on the team just so they can yell "RACISM BAD but here's me jumping at the opportunity to call a man of colour a racial slur".
Well, reckon that about covers her...

i'm thoroughly tired of and done with cis queer women who make "hating men" their entire personality and acting like they're the biggest feminists for it. kayla from sounds fake but okay and jessie paege come to mind, interestingly enough both bi women, who not that long ago would have been harmed by the same rhetoric they're now spewing. both of them essentially shame themselves for even being attracted to men, and by extension they're shaming others because they both have a large platform, jessie paege especially because for a long time, being bi was the focus of her youtube channel. she was a bi role model. and with kayla it's particularly disgusting too because she has a male partner. like, imagine being in a relationship with someone who loves talking about how much they hate you for your gender and how disgusting they feel for being attracted to you. that's fucking horrible. it wouldn't surprise me that as bi women they both feel like they have to prove their queerness by denouncing any attraction to and even like of men, because let's be real, lesbian separatist ideas haven't really died out. but an undifferentiated hatred of men hurts trans men more than it could ever hurt cis men, because it usually puts trans men on the same level of privilege and power as cis men, which is very much not true and a common antitransmasculine talking point. and promoting shame for attraction to men will hurt queer people attracted to men than it could ever hurt nonqueer women. gay men are seen as patriarchal for dating among themselves, bi+ men happily participate, bi+ women and nonbinary are complicit in the patriarchy for being attracted to men, i've even seen straight trans women be shamed for their attraction to men, and let's not even get into how straight aces and aros are treated. but the biantagonism in this kind of weighs heaviest because it's rooted in the idea that bi+ itself isn't queer, only the part where someone is attracted to the same gender is. hating men and promoting shame for being attracted to men is radical feminism, and i didn't think i needed to say this, but radical feminism is bad. it doesn't really matter if you say "but i didn't mean trans men or masc nonbinary people" because those are the people you are inevitably harming (because we all know the minute you deem a nonbinary person too masc, you put them in the man category). instead of trying to make yourself into a lesbian separatist because the community has made you feel like you're not queer enough for being bi, how about challenging those beliefs? and if you can't do that, why not find a community that's not full of that shit? there are communities specifically for bi+ people, you know. but no, gotta burn everything around you just so you can be part of the club.
i'm a bi enby and not a bi woman, but if i was i'd be proud of my attraction to men as it is a part of my queerness.

Does ElsaMaren have a real chance of being canon considering how Disney treated ValCarol and is treating WolfWren?
VALCAROL
Tumblr media
In the first Captain Marvel film, the fandom created a strong shipp between Carol and Maria Rambeau. A certain headcanon that has emerged is that Carol is the stepmother of Monica, Maria's daughter, and in fact the three seemed to live as a family with Monica having two mothers.
The first time Valkyrie and Carol met on screen was in "Endgame", and even with just quick glances the fans shipped, we are like that for sapphic shipps. But the most interesting thing was that Brie Larson (Carol) and Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie) really embraced the shipp, although Brie didn't abandon her shipp with War Machine (Carol's canon romantic couple in the comics), but it was always interactions about the ValCarol shipp on Brie's part were much louder.
I consider that Valkyrie was a replacement for Maria, Maria was the main shipp, but as she died Valkyrie seemed to be a good candidate for a replacement since the headcanon of Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel being a lesbian was always very big and Valkyrie is canonically bisexual. And if you want to compare it to Frozen: the Queen of Summer Marisol with whom Elsa seemed to really have a connection would be Maria, but as she couldn't go to a film Honeymaren was the replacement even with much fewer scenes as Valkyrie.
And what was ValCarol's conclusion? "Captain Marvel 2/The Marvels". Valkyrie was indeed included in the film, gave Carol a kiss on the cheek with a certain flirtatious air and left. But it seems that it wasn't just that, and that Disney actually asked to cut a conversation between them that would reveal that Carol and Valkyrie actually had a romantic relationship in the past, but that it ended and they decided to just be friends.

WOLFWREN
Tumblr media
Shin Hati, the original villain of the "Ahsoka" series and Sabine Wren, one of the heroines and a character with almost 10 years of existence. In the series they are rivals and face each other a few times, with Shin almost killing Sabine herself in the first fight by piercing her belly with the Light Saber. But although this beginning Shin never really seemed to hate Sabine, she fought much more on impulse than anyone else. Shin even questions orders regarding Sabine's elimination when a promise was broken. At the end of the first season, after once again failing to kill Sabine, Shin realizes that she has lost everything, was abandoned by her master and is isolated... in the same place that Sabine is. I summarized a lot.
A standard “enemies to lovers” shipp, but a sapphic “enemies to lovers” shipp, which is already better than the traditional ones. And it gained a lot of prominence in the fandom and especially among the actresses who play Shin (Ivanna Sakhno) and Sabine (Natasha Liu Bordizzo), and also among the other actors in the series. But in addition to the cast, the “Star Wars” pages began to promote the shipp by making official editions with the actors, reinforcing this magnetic connection between Shin and Sabine.
What will be the future of WolfWren? We need to wait for the second season of "Ahsoka", it may just be queerbait after all, although "Andor", another "Star Wars" series, has an official lesbian couple: Vel and Cnta, but who so far have not kissed and you have to pay close attention to the dialogues and interactions to realize that they are a couple.
Tumblr media
ELSAMAREN
What could all this mean for ElsaMaren? That Disney is at least willing to give crumbs to fans of the sapphic shipps, especially when the actresses are very supportive. Rachel Matthews (Honeymaren) is an avowed ElsaMaren shipper and likes to tease the shipp's fans sometimes, Idina Menzel is more neutral on the subject, but Idina is very supportive of LGBT causes and is proud of how Elsa, Elphaba and Maureen were embraced by the LGBT community, even officially just Maureen being part of it. If ElsaMaren is confirmed you can be sure that Idina will speak with great excitement about the couple.
But Disney? Even when she tried to hug ValCarol she was cowardly at the last moment and if we think about Bob Iger's last statements things become even less hopeful. And even if my theory that in fact Honeymaren was created to be Elsa's love interest but this arc was reduced to just concept art and two scenes is real, that unfortunately doesn't mean it can be returned. But I still bet on interpretative crumbs.
