Guys im. Not doing good and literally the ONLY THING that is making me feel good rn is springtrap x reader content please help me. I have to write but it might not be as good as I want bc yk. My brains dealin with some stuff right now so. Here's the first part of the fanfic I'm writing, called dead flowers!!! (This one's serious unlike MIILWAC 💀) basic plot, you were hired to do a safety inspection on an old animatronic some guy found. Uhh yeah. This is the meeting story for all my springtrap x reader stuff I write!! :))

You'd talked to the guy who found this old thing you were about to go see, and even he seemed to know nothing about it. He was probably going to be scrapping it for parts, but wanted to make sure it wasn't valuable or whatever. All anybody really knew were the few details you'd heard: it's an old SpringBonnie suit/animatronic from an old diner back in the 80s, it's horrifying, and there's probably a corpse in it.

Well, the last part wasn't true. Maybe. Hopefully. Everyone who'd seen it had said that there was definitely a corpse in there, but the man who found it - you'd forgotten his name, if he'd even told you - denied it completely. So, you were pretty sure you were about to see a decaying human corpse. Maybe you should've been a little hesitant when you were sent into the room with the animatronic alone, with a flashlight as the only light source, but it was too late to back out, now. As much as this was definitely not how you wanted to be spending your friday night, at least you were being paid.

Even if that pay was barely useful for anything.

Okay, maybe you were just extremely curious to see the animatronic.

Checking to make sure you had your phone and flashlight, you shut the door to the room.

Okay. Yeah, there was definitely a corpse in there. You couldn't see it yet, but it sure didn't smell like an alive human to you.

Slowly approaching it, you clicked on your flashlight and crouched down beside the.. thing. It was in a very sad and pathetic position, like a way you'd sit when you were giving up on something. Poor thing looked like it hadn't moved in years.

Shining your flashlight on it to see it better, you finally took in how terrible this thing looked. Matted fur, rips and tears everywhere, wires sticking out, and wasn't the animatronic supposed to be yellow? Because it wasn't. It was more like the color you'd get if you set yellow in a swamp and then killed something on top of the yellow. Speaking of that, were those bloodstains on the fur? And yes, those were definitely actual human organs you could see.

You debated if you should call the police or something, but you figured they might not believe you if you told them there was a corpse in this 40 year old robot.

You'd just deal with this yourself.

Doing another scan of the flashlight over the whole thing, you noticed something. When you moved the flashlight from its face down to the body, there was still a slight glowing that was not there last time you did this. You froze.

There was a light coming from the eyes.

Okay, calm down, maybe they were those glow in the dark type of things that glowed when exposed to light. That had to be it. So you kept doing your job, checking all the parts.

There was a clicking noise.

Maybe you'd just touched something accidentally-

The glow was stronger. Looking up, the eyes of the suit were now opened. And staring at you.

You stood up as fast as you could. It was definitely not supposed to do that. Keeping your eyes on the animatronic, you backed off quick towards the door before it made a noise. It caught you off guard and you stopped.

You were now just staring at each other. You took a cautious step back towards it.

It tilted its head forward a bit, the ears making a mechanical clicking noise as they moved. Maybe you had accidentally set off a movement trigger?

But that noise it had made - it had been too human.

Once you convinced yourself it was safe again, you sat back down in front of it. You took out your notebook to record what was happening-

And it moved again. A very slow, and painful, by the looks of it, movement, but it was movement. Its arm raised slightly, enough to move the hand and point at your notebook. You stared at it, then down at your notes. Taking a breath, you supposed if this.. Somehow were a human, you'd have to talk.

"Uhm- this?" You held up your notebook. Its hand position changed, like it was gesturing for you to do something.

"You- you want it?" You asked, confused. Slowly, it nodded yes.

You checked to make sure there was nothing important in it, and there wasn't, so you hesitantly handed the notebook to the... Whatever this was. It looked at you, as if expecting something else.

"What?"

It pointed again at your pencil. Oh. You handed it that, too. Was it about to write something?

Apparently it was, because it got to writing as soon as it took the pencil. Its jerky hand movements, though not graceful in any way whatsoever, shocked you. You were starting to wonder if this was all some weird dream.

It handed the notebook back to you, and you read what it had written. In very messy, sharp writing, it said;

"dont scrap"

You read it a few times.

How had it known they were planning to scrap it?

"How did- we weren't going to- but, how did you know that?" You stared at it again.

It's ears perked slightly. It looked at the notebook and you handed it back.

"heard"

It had heard you from multiple rooms over talking to the other man.

"Well, we... We won't." You said, and it seemed to relax.

It was silent for a bit. Finally, you broke the silence.

"I have so many questions."

BOB AUTISM:

i thiiiink this was supposed to be a fic about tina getting diagnosed with autism and then bob slowly realizing that he is also autistic but it wasn't very structured and i dont think i wrote much. more like a concept than an actual fic

i doubt i'll finish it because i just dont have much to go on and even if i was going to write an autism bob fic i would almost certainly write it in a different way now

BOB GAY SINGLE DAD:

OKAY this was a very detailed concept and i got surprisingly far in writing it but i think it got scraped for parts for my other fics now so idk if there's much left. it was just gonna be about bob growing up as a queer kid in the 80s and then it would be about a gay single dad flirting with bob at like a grocery store or something thinking that he's also a single dad looking to meet people (miscommunication bcuz the kids are with him but linda isnt). and bob thinking about the fact that he was never really with a man before. they'd talk about bob's bisexuality some and linda would ask him if he ever wanted to experiment and he'd be like nah ur the only person i want to be with man or woman

if i ever got really into finishing all my bobs burgers fics i could see myself rewriting this one someday. it was a fun concept it just never went anywhere and i have like 50 other WIPs that are more recent

SILVER SPOON FANFICTION:

this was just a fanfic about silver spoon having a mental breakdown after candle was eliminated and thinking back on their relationship yknow. he thinks it was all fake and candle, his only friend, never liked or cared about him. its finished but i never got around to editing it and now so much time has passed that it wouldnt make sense without the context of the episode it was written for. its culturally relevancy is pretty much gone and past since season 3 ended anyway </3 rip you were bigger than the whole sky.....

for all of these fics the answer to "what was the inspiration" is that i dont remember/i dont know and the answer to why i never finished it is almost certainly bcuz of weird ocd tendancies causing me to get stuck or i lost motivation and started writing something new. lmao

uh, sure

lets start with the three book series i have had on loop (audiobooks through libby) for the last 4 years:

Temeraire. 9 books. alternate history age of sale, an homage to Aubrey Maturin (the author literally stopped posting fanfic for that series 1 year before she published the first temeraire novel). What is the alternate? Well. dragons exist. and they are people. The premise is a human naval captain finds himself captain in the air force because a dragon imprints on him. Explore how the first napoleonic war goes when dragons are involved both in battle and in politics. I love this series because it scratches a very specific itch for humans and giant monsters bonding and interacting at every level of society. A lot of real historical figures show up (napoleon...). but it never feels forced. Im so bad at selling this series. its really great.

Memoirs of Lady Trent. 5 novels. more dragons ! this time a world similar to ours, but dragons exist! however this time they are animals, not people, and the main character is a fantasy victorian jewish woman who is obsessed with studying dragons and breaks her worlds gender barriers (which are the same as victorian englands were) to achieve her goals. also there's a slow burn romance with a nerdy fantasy muslim man (think indiana jones!!!) and they go on ADVENTURES about ARCHEOLOGY AND NATURALISM (books 3 through 5. i dont want you to think i lied when this man dont show up in books 1 and 2. BUT THERE'S STILL BOTH NATURALISM AND ARCHEOLOGY ADVENTURES IN BOOKS 1 AND 2). I did not see the twist of the series coming either. wild stuff. love it. there's a epilogue 6th book where the characters spend 80% of the time translating ancient tablets and somehow this is incredibly engaging, props to the author. this is a first person POV, the author is writing it as a MEMOIR so you have to imagine this old lady writing this down in her study.

The Murderbot Diaries (5 books, 4 are novellas). Sci-fi, out in space! Mostly taking place in literally capitalist hell region of space called "the corporation rim" which is... ruled by corporations. A lab grown robocop cyborg hacks its programming to become autonomous and wants nothing more than to watch soap operas and be left alone, but of course makes friends along the way as it continues to do its job of protecting humans. the snarky humor is FANTASTIC. its also first person POV and feels like Murderbot cornered you in a seedy space bar on an asteroid and just started ranting about shit "you will not believe the fucking year ive had" and then just rants for hours. Speaking of, 4 hours is the audiobook length for each novella, short enough that you can give the series a try without worrying about length

agatha christie. i mean. the queen of murder mysteries is called that for a reason. her stories are indeed bangers

Howl's Moving Castle. its a 3 book series though the books arent super connected. really fun fantasy adventure comedies.

now bear with me on this. Artemis Fowl. 8 books. I didnt read these until i was an adult, in graduate school. They fucking SLAP. some stuff is a little dated but other than that, its action packed, its so much fun. Go on an adventure where a shitty know-it-all genius criminal master mind becomes a better person and also there's fairy magic and fairy tech (which might as well be a second kind of magic). the main villain? amazing, unhinged, megalomaniac to the max. i love her. the minor villains? also amazing. i cannot overstate how great the villains are in this.

Dealing with Dragons/Enchanted Forest Chronicles. uhhhh this is my special interest. fantasy comedy adventure.

“Of course my love” she sends back as she starts driving to you.

Wanda picks you up and starts driving home, she places her hand on your thigh as she looks at the road.

“How did it go?” She asks, smiling.

“It went well, I got a B/80% on the test!” You say excited as you smile big. Wanda squeezes your thigh and chuckles.

“Im so proud of you princess, i think you deserve a reward when we get home” she says seductively as you two finally get home and get out of the car.

So, I'm writing a long fanfic based around the characterizations of the various Bats in the 80s-00s time frame, and Nightwing is gonna be important but I don't have a good grasp of his personality yet. I'm currently reading through The Resurrection of Ras Al Ghul, but that and a few of the 2016 issues are all I've got to go off of right now.

Do you have any comics you'd recommend for getting a good grasp of his personality and general vibes?

I'd also be happy to read any kind of ramble about his personality/appeal you feel like writing. Having read your fanfiction I feel like (sincere compliment:) you are the exact kind of unhinged I want to get character opinions from.

ok first of all. im flattered. i feel so powerful rn.

and second of all... my 'to read' list is embarrassingly long, and dick's been around and in a lot of comics so i have a lot of trouble keeping up ;-; but i will try my best!!

The New Teen Titans gets recommended a lot as a starting point for Dick as Nightwing, and while i havent read much of it, the stuff i have read has been pretty solid and i get why its so popular.

Nightwing 1996 is my personal go to comic for Dick, mainly bc it was his first real solo run. (it's often listed as "volume 2" of nightwing, but volume 1 aka Nightwing 1995 was really more of a test drive just to see if they should make a Nightwing solo series) It's also where Dick joins the mob! although that came off the tail end of a lot of different plot points.

(This is a bit unrelated, but in general I think knowing a bit of irl context to certain comic events is important. Like, at one point Bludhaven is nuked off the map. It doesn't make sense, and it was most likely due to some higher up DC nonsense. And Nightwing 1996's second annual is written by a man. etc etc.)

... I actually have a guide I've been working on, main reasons being quick reference for what happens where, and that writing these things down helps me remember them better

Mobbed Up (where Dick gets adopted by a random mob boss who took one look at his depressed mug as he was getting fired from the police force and said "new son?") is issues #107-111

I feel like I should get back to character thoughts.

Dick on his own is deeply serious, he has a job to do and it's incredibly important that he does it right. In the beginning this serves as an invaluable asset, but as he loses more people it starts to turn into more destructive. A trait that is morphed by his traumas into obsessiveness.

Dick when Tim comes to visit (or just when he's around people he cares about) is a bit softer, it's subtle, but it shows that he's aware of/cares for the people around him.

Dick with Bruce around seems to worry so much about proving himself, about being seen as a respectable peer, that it backfires into making him come off more insecure and as a bit of a "rebellious teen". (which is exactly what he's trying to avoid when he strikes out on his own) I've read various arcs and issues but I haven't actually read any focused on Dick and Bruce aside from the ones towards the beginning, so I'm sure their relationship must change, but this is how they were when Dick had first moved to Blud.

I feel like Bludhaven is also important to talk about. It's very much meant to be "Gotham, but worse". It's a place that even Batman wouldn't bother with, a place beyond saving. I'm... kind of breaking my own heart, thinking about how much Dick put into this city, only to. To fail? In a sense? A hero's home city isn't usually obliterated like that. The only other example that comes to mind is Hal Jordan's, and Hal literally went insane and became a space terrorist to bring it back. Dick is just... forced to move on.

And Dick goes back to NYC. Nightwing patrolling Gotham with any regularity feels very modern. He shows up when there's a major event and DC wants to capitalize on having a bunch of names in the same series, and he shows up when something drastic changes (like a new robin, or a death). Dick has however spent a lot of time in NYC, either because of the Titans or because. yknow. home go boom.

Anyways. Arc recs. Unironically I need you to read Brothers in Blood. Get past the initial gross out factor of Tentatodd and it's a great look at Jason and Dick's relationship. This is #118-122 and right after Bludhaven gets nuked. Dick has just experienced the lowest lows that one could low. Jason seems to know all about it, and tries to help in the worst way possible. Jason is right and blunt and convoluted and so so insecure about where he stands with Dick. Dick doesn't know where he stands with Jason either, on account of all the murder, and his tactless approach to trying to confront Dick on the copious amounts of trauma that Dick is dealing with. BiB is my Jaydick bible.

I'd also say to just give the first few arcs a shot. Beginnings are meant for introductions! It gives a good sense of who Dick is, why he's here, and what his goals are. Exposition baby! And I'm once again thinking about how ultimately Dick kind of fails said goals. I love him but he makes me so emo. Blockbuster has also been his main villain since the beginning, up until. Yknow. He became deader than his namesake. There's also a few fear toxin based issues that are good for. well. understanding what his fears are. There's also a fear toxin scene in Batman: Orphans, but i'll just reblog the post i made of it so u don't have to read that one. The art is fun, the story is weird and just kinda. meh.

#60 is when Dick joins the force. The beginning of the end, so to speak, but we don't meet Catalina until #71.

#93 is That Issue. The infamous rape scene. The thing about his time with Catalina is that it was almost definitely meant to be explored for what it was- an abusive relationship. But DC wanted Nightwing in an event. It doesn't have any satisfactory end, Bruce (DC) calls Dick to fight in Gotham. He does. His story falls to the wayside for the bigger title. The worst thing that can happen to a DC character IMO is getting a Batman crossover. There was supposed to be an entire arc dedicated to what would happen to Dick in this abusive relationship. But we got 2 issues. And War Games. It pisses me off to absolutely no end. DC needed more mouths to kiss the ground that Batman walks on. They don't give a damn about the stories that exist outside their cash cow.

After all that, eventually Dick is back to his utterly depressing life. He joins the mob, finds a family, bad things happen to said family. (Mobbed Up, #107-111) He wants to protect the daughter, Sophia Tevis, and then Slade holds Sophia hostage to get Dick to teach his daughter Rose how to fight. He does, but he also teaches Rose how to question authority (aka her dad). Slade is not happy about that, and nukes Bludhaven. (Renegade, #112-117) See my earlier note about IRL reasons for dumbass plot points.

Nightwing 1996 has 2 annual issues (despite running for much longer than 2 years). The first annual is a fun murder mystery and i think a good look into how Dick handles relationships. He also reads as very aromantic/demiromantic who doesn't know it yet, but maybe that's just me, lol. the second annual is dog shit. Mark Andreyko can get bent, it sucked total ass and isn't worth reading.

omg chat why is writing kinda hard???

ok so this is a bit of an aside (warning: this post is long) but @348kg and i talked about this and honestly writing fanfics is a way for us to express ourselves creatively while using our idols as inspo for our work. and it’s fun most of the time.. but like honestly, 70-80% of the time, writing is hard. it’s not easy, like… it’s actually quite hard work.

and i know everyone has seen posts of like “pls reblog instead of just silently reading” or “pls like at least to show your appreciation” etc etc etc and ur probs sick of hearing it but like, it’s so true???

writing is honestly hard. and for most of us fanfic writers.. im sure you know but we have lives outside of our blogs. we are students, or we work normal jobs, we have life responsibilities, we have problems to deal with, and yet somewhere in between our busy lives we manage to find the time to sit down and create these pieces of writing for you, the reader, to read.

and tbh, i don’t really know where im going with this? i just want to let you know this: a typical 1-2k words one-shot probably takes me around 2-3 hours to write (on average, on a good day - sometimes longer or shorter). but it takes you maybe 10-15 mins, at most 30 mins to read depending on your reading speed. isn’t the time gap a little wild 🫠 on a typical work day, i get home from work at about 6, i cook myself dinner and eat, i shower and clean up, and if i know im writing that night, i make sure to clear my schedule (ie no overtime, no phone calls to friends or parents etc) and i sit on my laptop and write from about 10ish to about midnight. then i pause and i edit, and set things up to get ready post (think: pictures, title, word count, writing the warnings, summary, doing the tags) and by the time i post, it’s probably 1am.

i breathe a sigh of relief because it feels good! it feels really good to release my labour of love (literally) out into the world. and honestly, you know who you are, but those of you who constantly read and reblog my work, i see u!! (Alexa play i see u by p1harmony) and those who leave comments or reviews in the tags, i also see u (that’s why i like to reblog and respond to your tags too)!! it honestly brings me so much joy when someone comes and talks to me about something i wrote and how it made them feel. or even when someone recommends a fic i wrote. all these things that are so little and take so little of your time actually mean so much to me and im sure other writers as well.

and so i guess what im trying to say to everyone is: if you are a fic reader, if you read any fics, i just want you to know that the fic you loved reading took the writer a lot of resources to write (brain power, creativity and importantly time). i hope this gives u an insight into the process of a writer/writing a fic because im hoping it might help with whether or not you decide to hit that like or reblog or comment button in the near future!!

(also, i think it’s a shame that as writers sometimes we have to compromise on what we actually want to write vs what to write to get more engagement, likes, rbs etc. personally i have been writing on tumblr since 2020 on and off so ive been on here for four years now and i have a good sense of what is a good formula for a “successful” fic - usually it’s smut, usually it’s for the most popular member in terms of fic reading, and usually it’s of a certain length posted around a certain time etc etc. but i guess i don’t rly care anymore bc im a kinda old tumblr writer who isn’t bothered about the notes as much as i am just grateful for the little comments people send me saying that what i wrote made them feel seen or resonated with them. cos i think that is priceless 🥹)

PS. in no way am i complaining about the engagement or lack thereof that i personally get, nor am i complaining about the mere fact that writing is hard bc yes i am aware that i wanted to write in the first place and so it was my decision haha

As far as WIP’s go I have a few and I am more than happy to ramble about them so thank you so much for asking!!!

Ok so I have a WIP that I just finished completely that you know all about,,, I’m trying my hardest to keep that fic a little more of a secret till it’s unveiled but I do want to say that that fic is arguably the proudest I’ve been of a fanfic I’ve written and it has so so so much angst and I absolutely can’t wait for people to read and when it’s published I’d absolutely love to talk to everyone who wants to about it :))

As far as other WIP’s go I have my current WIP that I had to put on hiatus do to how hectic life got (I started writing it like the first day of college and I didn’t realize how much the work and college combo would eat up my free time 😭) but I am gradually working on the next chapter and will probably end up going back to do some major editing of what I’ve already written some at some point do to how much I think my writing has changed and improved (my hope is that by editing it and taking my time with it I’ll kinda regain my muse a bit yk) anywho I have the third chapter about 80% written and so far I am very very happy with all the emotion going on in it also for the few people that have asked no it is not abandoned that fic is my baby and I love it very much I just need to give it the time and effort it deserves

I also have a third WIP that I actually haven’t started writing but I have outlined and a couple things worked out in my notes app that I’m putting off until I have the actual time to do it but in summary it’s friends with benefits jeggy with some pride and prejudice references!!!

And cause I refuse to shut up I really want to get back into writing microfics soon so I might now that I have more time cause ideas are constantly bouncing around in my brain,,, as for the existing micro fics I might slowly start editing them and adding a little bit to them to post to ao3 as kinda a project to get me out of the writing slump ik im gonna be in

Oh and the last thing I’m gonna say is that I have so many ideas for pandalily and I’ve kinda been looking into doing a Lily Evans centric slice of life pandalily fic but that is not going to be a project I actually dive into for a little bit (same with any rosekiller teenage romance ideas I’ve talked about)

DSAF AU Ideas:

So sorry a new Phone Guy Dave AU section isn’t out yet, or more art (although I have decided generally what I want my Jack design to look like yey!). But being the bizarre AU obsessed being I am, I have decided to write out some ideas for AUs I might write or draw snippets of in the future. Warning, a lot of these are angsty because I’m an angsty fuck and I’m shit at fluff for the most part, and refuse to write smut. I come originally from Undertale, and you all should know how many AUs that Fandom had, it shaped my development in that regard, as I love AUs.

Severed Head AU: Like PG!Dave, this takes place in the DSAF bad route! After Jack leaves Dave repossesses his own severed head and goes on a magical adventure called spiralling depression because the love of his life just fucking murdered him in cold blood. This AU is basically angst porn, and thus if I did write it at all, it wouldn’t be as much as some of the others.

Child AU: So all the characters are kids! That’s kinda it. Oh yea, Fredbear’s doesn’t exist but Fazbender’s does, because they are separate things. David Miller was Jack’s friend and he recently died which is a major conflict. Dave, never having met Henry, still goes by William and lives on the streets of the fictional town the story takes place in. All characters except the previously mentioned David Miller are alive, and thus Jack is not orange because y’all seem to forget something that he isn’t, it’s just makeup he uses to hide his decomposition. The story will take place in the 80s so buckle in and expect it to be largely based on Stranger Things, because I was unfortunately not alive in the 80s. Dee is 7, Jack is 15, Dave/William is 15, David Miller was 13, Peter is 17, Steven is 17, Caroline in 17. This would be more in depth and plot based as well as my usual method for fanfics of make it up as I go, so you wouldn’t get very much very fast especially with school.

Rainworld AU: Seeing the fact I have recently posted a drawing of a slugcat, you may expect that I am indeed, into rainworld. This is a correct assumption. Jack would fill the role of the monk and Dee as the survivor because it makes sense in the context of the story that Jack is trying to find her plus monk is yellow so Jack being orange is not much of a stretch. Dave would be also a slugcat because I love slugcats, potentially a spearmaster, because they’re kinda purple and I think it would be interesting. However y’all would have to wait for me to finish the game and for the DLC to be out with the spearmaster. The story would feature little to no dialogue whatsoever, the characters would be referred to without names probably because slugcats don’t seem to have names as they don’t seem to be fully sapient so much as just highly intelligent with pack dynamics. Henry might be an iterator because it fits him better than a slugcat and from what I’ve heart of Five Pebbles despite not meeting the guy yet, yea he’s a Henry. Regardless I’d still try to get their personalities across as best I can with no dialogue nor names. Plus slugcats are fun and easy to draw and I’m going to draw more of them anyway so you’ll be likely to get plenty of art. Y’all probably don’t know Jack shit about what I’m saying here because no one knows this hidden gem of a game.

Patchwork Heart and another big project still under wraps that Im working on with my friend are still my top priority but I’ve found DSAF fanfics are amazing pallet cleansers to write between working on those so I’m gonna write lots in my free time.

Im not hugely into C-dramas, mostly because of my lack of time and energy, though I have watched a few. I enjoyed the hell out of the old hong kong action flick genre back in the 80s and 90s and I've always been a fan of a variety asian cinema types. Usually I go for movies instead of series, at least with the live action stuff (easier to try out a movie during a free moment than get invested in a series). I watched The Untamed and loved it but real life is so busy that it literally took me a year to get through the episodes.

Hopefully, Love Between Fairy And Devil will go a bit faster, lol. I've enjoyed the hell out of it! Though right now I'm in a body swap arc and the second hand embarrassment is killing me.

okay so, I loved watching movies with my dad growing up and he’d always pick ones that were really special to him and he’d tell me stories of the first time her saw some of his favorites.

He showed me the original top gun 1986 when I was like 11 or so and I loved it because of that classic blockbuster movie feeling. Plus I just LOVE the 80’s and I adored the aesthetic.

When Too Gun maverick came out I was obviously a lot older like 18 or so. This was just under a year back. I was really in it get that action movie feeling again. And I fell in love with this movie. It kept me in my toes, I loved every character, I felt emotions bro…. And ofc when I saw Jake I was like 😳😍 so….😂😂😂 TBH when I saw the trailer I was so down for Phoenix.

I got into fanfic writing back in 2019 when I was super into DC and I couldn’t find many good fluff fics because I was a baby. So I really said “fine I’ll do it myself” as per the Thanos meme😁 I fell off it literally months after I started this blog and I felt so bad but I didn’t get back into it until now when the TGM fandom sunk its teeth into me and I was like “hmm why not give it one more shot?” and then YOU GUYS WERE SO SWEET AND FUN AND INTERACTIVE WITH MY BLOG AND SO I STAYED. 💕💕💕💕💕

Y'all know that post about "what if there was a Smash style game but with public domain characters"? This Post? Yeah i had an idea for that 😂 Though my idea wasn't "Jay Gatsby with the steel chair!" (Although that is a very funny mental image), it was "Anne Shirley with the chalk slate!" And so this comic was born! Also i threw in Victor Frankenstein cause he deserves to get smashed over the head with a slate by an 11 year old actually, maybe it'll teach him some humility like it did Gilbert.

Also Marilla and Gilbert would be summonable characters with funny catchphrases, you know they would--Marilla with her "Fiddlesticks!" And Gilbert with an apple pun (as is his wont). Truly I'm sad this doesn't actually exist.

I seem to be on a "fave media x 80's cult classic" kick right now (there'll be a Sailor Moon x Back to the Future post sometime in the future), so let's have my latest combo: the Young Jedi Knights Squad (Jaina, Jacen, Zekk, Tenel Ka, and Raynar) as The Breakfast Club! Aka a fanfic that i will never write and yet so desperately want to see written i already made Fanart for it. Go figure. Anyways have some iconic scenes from the movies!

The Players:

Zekk is, obviously, the "delinquent"; he's an orphan, he has to work and scrounge up his food and clothes, he pulls harebrained schemes for the adrenaline rush--he's a teacher's (specifically Brakiss's) worst nightmare. Of course, that's not all he is; he's got a key mind for mechanics and technology, helped by his scrap searching; he stays out at all hours because he doesn't like being home alone (his guardian Peckham, who he loves like family, is often away as a truck driver, and it gets lonely in their little house without him); he's kindhearted, and fiercely loyal, he just doesn't want to let anyone in out of fear of losing them, or that they won't like what they see....

Jaina is the "princess"; the only daughter of the Governor, she's been groomed to play nice and hang out with the other children of politicians and CEOs since she was just a little girl. Nowadays they form her primary group of friends, the most popular kids in school, looked up to--or down upon-- by their peers in equal measure. And... She kinda hates it. She stays with them only out of obligation, to make her mother's life easier, but she doesn't particularly care about any of them and doesn't even particularly enjoy their company; it's all drama and gossip and a revolving cacophony of dating and breaking up and bitter exes and rivalries and she is sick of it. She would much rather be spending her time at her dad's auto shop, getting her hands dirty tuning up engines and changing oil and bonding with Han. She can't tell anyone that tho, it would ruin her reputation...

Jacen is the "jock"; the twin brother of Jaina, he also feels a certain pressure to stay in with the popular crowd. He achieves this by being captain of the fencing team; it's no star quarterback position but it is still respectable among his peers. Fencing isn't his true passion, tho; he'd much rather be spending all his time at the local animal shelters, or assisting at the zoo. He's an animal lover through and through, but it's something he hides from his "friends" so that they don't have reason to shun him for being a "sissy." He knows there's nothing ignoble about his hobby, but they don't know that....

Tenel Ka is, for lack of a better term, the "weirdo"; she comes from somewhere called Dathomir, from a culture of fierce warrior women, and boy, does she act like it. She will readily duel anyone who looks at her wrong, she eats entire animal legs for lunch, and she never seems to show much emotion.... Ever. Add to that her missing arm (which no one knows the truth about btw, rumors fly about it being anything from a childhood accident to one of her duels gone wrong), and she cuts an intimidating figure that most students avoid. Is there more to her than that? Oh is there. Is there ever.

Raynar Thul is the final member of the crew; he's the "trust fund baby" that hangs out with a very specific clique that even Jaina and Jacen aren't a part of. He comes across as snobbish and standoffish, unwilling to dabble with anyone "lesser". This is a front, however; he projects this persona because it's what his parents expect from him, and he doesn't want word getting back to them about what he actually does: extensive volunteer work. Raynar has a drive to help people, and has been trying to use his privilege all through high school to do just that, by volunteering at food banks and for highway clean up, and donating as much of his allowance as physically possible where he can. In fact, it's how he met his girlfriend Lusa, but that's a whole other can of worms...

Complicated, and started literally a decade ago 😅

Pitch Perfect RarePair Week 2022, Day 1

Because we all know the REAL reason Jessica and Ashley didn't get much screentime in the movies was because they were busy being James Bond-esque super spies/secret agents and living out their very own Mrs. and Mrs. Smith AU. Speaking of, hey, Pitch Perfect fandom? I have seen ZERO Mrs. and Mrs. Smith AU's for these two yet and I am APPALLED. It's perfect for them! Secret hidden lives, confusion over names (because they've got so many cover identities it's hard to keep track who's who), JESSICA'S LAST NAME IS LITERALLY SMITH THIS FIC WRITES ITSELF.

*ahem*

Anyways, welcome to my first entry (EVER!!) for Pitch Perfect RarePair Week! I rewatched the first movie recently, hyperfixated, and came to the realization that, apparently, it's "oops all rarepairs and hot takes" for me 😅. This seemed like the perfect way to tentatively test the waters of truly joining in, ya know? And so, I offer this drawing as your prompt, oh fic writers of the fandom; if you want to write this AU, you've already got free fan art for it! And my undying devotion.

This is, of course, for Prompt #1, "this is me trying"; I'm sure this was intended to be an angsty, emotional turmoil between partners prompt, but I couldn't help but turn it on its head into a comedic exchange in the middle of a High Stakes Infiltrate-and-Extract job, ya know? YOU try cracking the safe then, Jessica, if you think it's so easy! 😂

My #1 post of 2022

"Have I known you 20 seconds ....

......or 20 Years?"

(or: I couldn't find a satisfactory Anne of Green Gables bookmark so I made my own)

So, I really wanted a bookmark featuring my all time favorite Anne quote, aka the "diamond sunbursts and marble halls" line. But I couldn't find a good bookmark that I liked that also featured that line, so I just decided, what the hey, I'll make one myself, and I can do it exactly the way I want to! And then I did 😂.

I wanted a double-sided bookmark so I could feature a scene from each of my two favorite adaptations of Anne, i.e. the Sullivan movies and Anne with an E. I knew the Sullivan side would have the main quote since said quote actually appeared in the movies, and from there it was an easy decision to pair it with the reunion scene from A Continuing Story, a) because that scene has lived rent free in my head since I was 10, and b) while the first kiss that came after the actual line was beautiful, the reunion scene brings a different, more desperate emotion to the quote that I really like. It's in the way they clutch at each other desperately, the way Gilbert's face is pressed into her shoulder so tightly you can see wrinkles in his skin appear, the way Anne runs her fingers through his hair, the whole scene just screams "all I've wanted for two straight years was just to hold you in my arms again" and I burn I pine I perish.

After that it was just a matter of figuring out the Anne with an E side. I decided pretty quickly that I wanted the bonfire scene, both to contrast the other side by splitting the image up and because that scene, almost more than the actual first kiss scene, really cemented Gilbert's love for Anne to me, you can see it in his eyes as he looks up at her, illuminated by fire, like he's looking at his own personal goddess. And with that idea came the decision to use his letter as the quote, albeit shortened cause homeboy was rather wordy in confessing his love (which I adore that's a whole other rant) so that I kept the main, emotional hooks.

Then, I surrounded each one with meaningful flowers (lilies of the valley for the og, queen Anne's lace for the newbies), splashed some watercolors across the backgrounds for some flavor, and that was that!

Btw these are both done on toned mixed-media paper, it's thick and it's almost a cross between card stock and cardboard. I designed the whole thing in pencil, inked it in black and white, then threw watercolor over the top before finishing with water soluble markers and retouches to the white gel ink where needed. I plan to laminate this for it's protection but these pictures were taken unlaminated.

i apologize for how long this ramble is going to be😭 but i agree so hard with your posts about how little comments a fic can get nowadays even with a bunch of like. The majority of fanfics I see with high notes are at least 80% likes (I can’t do percentage Im just estimating), 10-15% blank reblogs, and 5-10% comments. It kinda disheartens me when I spend a while writing and revising one of my works—even though the majority of them are blurbs—just to make sure it’s perfect and something I’m proud of and then when I post it it gets maybe 200 likes 8 reblogs and 2 comments (which are usually in the tags but I’m still very grateful for and love to read the reactions of readers). I’m not big on complaining and I don’t care about high notes but when one of the works I post does get a lot of notes but the majority of those notes are likes and I’m lucky to get 2 comments, I’m just a little bummed. I always make sure to respond to the comments and try to keep the conversation going because as you’ve mentioned before, writers just wanna talk about the characters they’re interested in with other people who are equally as obsessed with those character as they are! Sometimes when I read others fan fictions and I can’t think of much to comment (which is rare cause usually I’m already thinking of what comment I’m going to leave when I finish reading), I still make sure to compliment the writing in some way, list something I really enjoyed and leave a little emoji that portrays my reaction. I just wish more people did that. I understand if some people are in a rush and just wanna read something quick and not stay on it too long or if they just don’t have anything to comment, but if you read the whole thing I’m sure you could at least think of something to say or one emoji that best fits how the fic made you feel or even better a reaction gif! I love those things. It’s not even when checking my notifications or notes on a particular work that I’m a bit disappointed but also other fanfic writers notes because they’re all excellent and deserve some love and support and I’m sure they’ve be ecstatic to get to talk about the character they like so much that they put in all the effort to write a scenario about with other people. again, sorry for the long rant 😭 I don’t want to come off as rude to anyone cause of course I understand to an extent why some people just don’t comment but it still invokes such a strong feeling in me to the point where I had the desire to rant in some (incredible, talented, amazing, outspoken and encouraging) lady’s inbox. have a goodnight/morning/afternoon (whenever you’re reading this, that is if you stuck around for my whole word vomit)

like the thing that really gets me - my fics are being seen by more people than ever, yet fewer people than ever are commenting

I used to primarily post fanfiction on Quizilla. and Quizilla would show the number of hits your profile got. and profile hits were a big deal because it meant that someone found your fic through searches or through recommended, they read your fic, liked it, and then they clicked onto your profile to see if you had written similar fics.

the day that my profile reached 1,000 hits was a big deal for me. I remember checking back every single day to see how many hits my profile was getting, and I anticipated the day my profile was going to get 1,000 hits - and I thought I was fucking famous when it happened.

because back then, fandoms were sooo fucking small. so if 1,000 people saw my profile, it meant that the entire fandom (at least, my corner of the fandom - the part of the fandom that read and posted Harry Potter x OC fics on Quizzila) had seen my profile, and had likely read some of my fics.

and now, a single fanfic of mine can get 1,000 likes and 0 comments (like literally 0 comments) and it feels so fucking dehumanising. because likes aren't even hits. hits just mean that they clicked on it and their browser opened the page. likes mean that someone saw my fic, and they either enjoyed the concept enough to bookmark it for later or they read the whole fic and then liked it.

it means that someone saw my fic, liked it - someone probably read through my entire fic, and didn't bother to comment. so that x 1000. and it hurts my heart. especially because I just wrote 10,000 words of the fic and the reader couldn't even write 20 words in the comments.

1,000 people read my fic and it can get 0 comments. even if it gets 5 or 10 comments, those comments aren't opening up a discussion about the fic.

I do genuinely miss the days when getting 15 hits on a fic meant that you got 10 to 15 comments. because every single person who clicked onto the fic recognised that a lot of work goes into a fic, and they wanted to show their appreciation - or, at the very least, they are excited and they want to discuss their enjoyment of the fictional characters with someone else who loves that character too.

these days, everyone pretends like fandom is a solo activity. and it drives me insane.

people make individual posts fangirling about a character, and nobody actually interacts with those posts. people make headcanons about their favourite characters, and nobody goes 'oh, you're so right!' - nobody takes the time to message them adding onto those headcanons or politely disputing them. people act like fanfiction is a novel handed to you for you to read quietly by yourself, and not something fanfic writers post with the intention of discussing it afterwards.

fandom is not a solo activity. it was never supposed to be.

and like, you're right - I don't care about getting a lot of notes. I have seen some fics that have 20k notes, and I think that would actually be a fucking nightmare. because I can only imagine how much those authors must be harassed for a 'part 2' and to write more for that fandom, or to just do that same fic again, slightly to the left. or how much they're harassed in general. my most popular fic is like 70% less popular than that, and I still hate the experience of having a really popular fic. it makes my brain get nauseous.

no, I don't want a popular fic. I don't want a fic with a lot of notes. I just wish that if I had a fic with 10 notes, five of those notes were comments - even if it was a string of comments, a discussion between me and someone else - I would be happier than having a fic with 1,000 notes and 2 comments.

and as I have said before, many, many, many times - comments spawn more fics. I have so many fics - both finished and in my drafts, that have been spawned by the comments I do get, or that have been spawned by discussions with my mutals in DMs. actively discussing the characters with me makes my brain want to write more fanfiction.
