I will defend Henry Emily until the day I die. Every time I see anyone condemning Henry, they are almost always blatantly incorrect. I don't know why the fandom is so obsessed with trying to hate him.
He shocked his daughter with electricity!!! The blueprint is most likely referring to keeping the music box wound up as it makes absolutely zero sense for him to zap her. He kidnapped his daughter in Lefty and burned her!! Okay? can you come up with a better way of bringing her to a location so that you can free everyone's spirits? No.
He let Michael die!! He literally said there was a way out planned for him. There doesn't just stop being a plan because Henry figured Michael wanted to stay. There's clearly a way to leave. Henry just accurately assumes Michael isn't going to take it because he's a remnant corpse and whatnot. The line is literally just to prove that the protagonist is Michael Afton.
The only thing fans can actually condemn him for is what he did in the novel trilogy, which even then he had lost his mind due to the grief of his toddler being murdered and EVEN THEN he wanted his work buried and forgotten about because he recognized how fucking terrible it all was. This is literally in his suicide note, he tells Jen to burn everything.
This isn't to say what he did was right in that book because it's not. It's just...how do you come out of the Fourth Closet hating HENRY of all characters? I don't understand the obsession.
I will defend Henry on my deathbed. You could be there and say, "Henry was horrible and abusive" and I will say with the last of my strength, "No he wasn't you stupid b-" and then die. No, I'll be DEAD and you'll say that and I will come back to life just to say that before dying for good.
In conclusion, I'm sorry you didn't have great fathers FNaF community, but you've got an abusive terrible purple father right there. No need to be willfully ignorant and try to make another father out to be just as bad.

every time i see art of boxleitner and wordgirl in an explicitly father-daughter scenario i sit there gritting my teeth and fists clenched like thats not her father thats not her father thats not her father thats not h
#like nothing wrong with it ig.... ? like ur not evil and ur not terrible for liking it#but she has a dad. a pretty good dad in fact (well minus that one ep. lalalaala)#but steven is her weird uncle at best and strange neighbor at worst#hes a mentor and a trusted adult but still not her dad#and i know this owes to the writing of the show and steven is everyones fav blorbo (mine included!) but i very much dislike how in so many#cases this white guy is becoming number one dad to this child of color as if she doesnt have a loving family at home#like ive been thru the owl house trenches and im kinda sick of white favoritism esp in the parental space#like in the case of toh how everyone really fawned over eda being a “good mom” to luz while camilla was highly criticized for a while before#everyone warmed up to her . and even then i dont think she was wholly liked#despite her also being a victim of ableism and potentially undiagnosed neurodivergence. her good intentions doesnt negate the harm she#caused but thats a good char exploration and plot driver between mother and daughter and its a really unique exploration of motherhood ive#seen in kids tv. and its smth i envisioned for wordgirl and her own parents who are good intentioned but still have room to grow for their#kids.#i can see why steven is popular as a father figure bc we see a lot of him and he is a guardian figure in the show that wg misses but#i still think that a big part of wg's char is someone who is split btwn being a normal girl and a hero. in this case steven is her#“superhero dad” (i say this non-seriously just to make a point) with her real parents representing her “normal” side#and exploring how she reconciles these experiences and even these adult figures in her life could be interesting!#but cutting out her parents and only having steven as a father or primarily showing him as being doting and loving of wg kind of feels like#its ignoring a huge point of conflict for wg and also kind of mischaracterizing steven as well

you guys ever think about how sparda and eva were probably prepared for eva to die before sparda not the other way around. coming to terms with death and having to leave loved ones behind is par for the course when you settle down with an immortal being, but they never thought about the possibility of sparda being the first to die until he doesnt return.

this is one of my favorite theses in the inkworld each way it plays out is so!!
elinor's dad valued his books over her and her sisters to the point she internalizes it and becomes the same kind of hermit he was, before and after the folcharts come back into her life. basta was groomed into believing he was inherently unlovable except by capricorn so he'd do anything to keep that small remaining amount of love. brianna realizes if dustfinger wasn't dead then he had to have abandoned her, so the next person to give her their full attention? she'll throw away every other relationship she has for them, the same way she was thrown away. the verbal abuse violante endured as a kid (and currently, because 19 is still a kid) influenced the kind of mother she is and she doesn't even realize until it's almost too late that she's done to jacopo what the adder did to her! and I've already talked about the physical abuse from farid's birth family influencing how he forms severely anxious relationships.
and none of these are just character padding! all of these characters influence the plot so heavily by becoming traumatized and by working through it and I don't have any idea how she pulled it off

I think bpd is a bullshit stigmatizing label thrown at women to pathologize what is very obviously a response to prolonged childhood trauma and would be better labeled as C-PTSD. that being said my god I am bpd as fuck
#my sister just snapped at me bc i said i dont want to do a ton of physical labor for the job she signed me up for which apparently does i#in fact involve a lot of it. and her being mad for even that moment sent me spiraling so badly & i had the reaction i often do where#i start hating both her & myself terribly & want to isolate forever#i think she hates her new job & is taking it out on me but it doesnt matter bc i cant handle being yelled at#and the fact thst it took me till adulthood to realize thats bc i associate it with my father is crazy. yeah its just the cptsd like#everything else. and whats nutso is how i continue to think my trauma Wasnt Bad Enough for ptsd .#just bc he didnt beat the shit out of or molest me i feel like i dont even have a right to be this fucked up#not that it was only him. being bullied at school really did not help. i guess now that i think about it the problem is that until#i was a teenager i literally did not feel emotionally secure anywhere. home or school. always the ticking of a bomb in the bg#the inevitable moment my dad blew up over nothing or i overheard my peers talking about what a freak i was#i dont know why it still hurts to think about. im so far removed from it my life now couldnt be more different#well thats the stupid fucking thing about childhood isnt it. those are your very first experiences with the world & other ppl#i do know my view of romantic relationships was irrevocably poisoned by my parents & that is never going to be undone. so cool

i cannot express enough how detrimental those trendy books that were all like "the subtle art of not giving a fuck" were to the current mainstream attitude towards disability like why did you think writing 2647387274 books that scream at people about how they should just suffer in silence rather than advocate for fixing our ableist society so they can be accommodated and are asking for reasonable things was gonna be helpful? And theyre always written by white men born into wealth that have zero mental or physical health problems, i like to call it "buzzfeed nihilism" and "buzzfeed fascism" if you will. those books are marketed to the mentally ill, but they only do that so they can make money off the mentally ill, who then end up hating themselves even more after reading your book when they were seeking genuine help and therapy.
