finally got around to watching venom the last dance and im so happy they brought back the "big budget but entirely forgotten sci-fi horror blockbuster from like 2009" vibe that parts of the first one had.
I 100% understand why no one talked about it it feels so much more correct. No one should have cared about the first one, I should have seen it on TV and fixated on it forever, and I'm glad they made this one so that I could have the modern equivalent of that experience, I think it'll stick in my head way more than Carnage did.

The week after the Gala, there was another meeting at the Watchtower. Just as they had before, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, The Flash, and Aquaman stayed behind after everyone else left.
No chatter started up as the door closed with a final sounding noise. Like a Death Knull in the ears of five of the seven present heroes.
An eternity passed between one second and the next, everyone waiting for someone else to say something. No one knew why no one else was saying anything, but they all knew they didn't want to be the ones to drop whatever shoe was being held over their heads.
All except Batman, the epitome of stoicism, and Green Arrow, the epitome of suspense.
Eventually, Batman said, "So, how did you enjoy your trip to Gotham?" He didn't address a single person, prompting everyone to speak over themselves at once, all trying to explain away their presence in his city. Soon, though, their anxiety gave way to confusion as everyone realised that everyone else was saying the same thing as them.
"What?" Wonder Woman asked, "What's going on?"
"I asked how your trip to Gotham was."
"Um," Green Lantern said, "Care to address who you're talking to?"
"Why would I? You all know who I'm talking to."
There was a beat. "All of us?" Aquaman asked, "Were all of us in Gotham?"
"Yes." Batman says. "How did you enjoy your trip?"
"Wait! Wait, wait, wait, wait!" The Flash said, "First of all, how would you know that?"
"Nothing happens in Gotham without my knowledge. No one or thing enters or leaves the city without me knowing."
"Right," The Flash relented, "That's creepy as hell, and a huge privacy violation! Second of all," he directs this at the rest of the room, "When were you all in Gotham? I was invited to a gala at Wayne Manor last weekend."
The round of agreements from around the room only confused everyone further.
"Wait, you mean we were all in one space as civilians?" Superman asked.
"There's no way that's a coincidence!" Green Lantern yelled, "What the hell, Batman?!"
"Arrow?" Wonder Woman's voice hushed everyone else's. "You've been awfully quiet."
Green Arrow took another moment before he moved. He chuckled lightly, "I see what you're doing, B. I can't believe I didn't notice earlier!" As he spoke, he reached up and removed his mask and hat, ignoring the others' disbelief. "It's nice to meet you all formally, I guess. I'm Oliver Queen."
The Flash blinked.
Superman spun to face Batman, anger in his expression. "You had Wayne throw a party to force us to reveal our identities to each other?!"
"I've known who you all are since just after you all made names for yourselves." Batman said.
Oliver shook his head. "You're horrible at this, man."
"We didn't tell you our names." Aquaman growled, "At least I didn't."
"No," The Flash agreed, "I didn't either."
"I am a detective first and foremost. I needed to know who you all are before I could trust you with the safety of this world."
Green Lantern got right up in Batman's face as he said, "You don't get a say in that, Batman. That's not up to you to decide."
"Not to mention that Wayne, who is a very well known civilian, knows who we are now. " Wonder Woman said, "Or, at least, I assume he does."
"He does," Batman affirmed.
Superman grabbed Batman's cape and picked him up out of his chair. "We were good friends, Bats, ut you've crossed a line."
"We can still be friends." Batman says.
"Oh, yeah?" Aquaman asks, "How?"
Ignoring how he was still suspended in the air, Batman, too, removed his cowl. Superman dropped him as soon as he realised who he was holding, backing away so everyone had a view of Batman. "Because I'm Batman."

After watching Venom The Last Dance and being emotionally heart broken, I bring you a Meanwhile In The Venom Comic Universe Thread
The Brock Family near death/death experiences & the Other (Venom Symbiote) keeping them alive or trying to:
Get shot and your man starts dying. Oh what would Eddie do without you Other?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Being impaled so the Other has to repair your heart. Classic Eddie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So you get your head bashed in and damaged, then you grab the third rail. Well, the Other has your coma needs sorted Eddie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, you both almost burn to death. Still the Other carries your half dead body on the run for 3 weeks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Knull throws you off The Empire State Building with no symbiote well, I mean you're dead Eddie. But then your Other grabs your soul (Codex) and brings it into the real world just to have a God of Light take it and revive you. Man, Eddie wtf?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So you get your rib cage shattered & lungs punctured. Its okay, your Other is once again there to grow you a new one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So your kid is just as much as a disaster as you Eddie. That's okay cause the Other can't let both your sons die from being shot.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So you're killed by your future father? That's fine, the Other is dying to but has enough strength to save you Dylan.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So Carnage your brother decides to kill you Dylan. Your alien dad is gonna try his best. But that's okay your future dad will rez you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So Dylan, you're forced to shoot your dad at point blank. That's okay, the Other gotta keep their man alive at least once more.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's perfectly no reason I made this post. Just wanted to show you all how special the Other (Venom Symbiote) is and how a Brock needs them....I think I might cry.

symbiote König x reader
I'm not allowed to start any new aus/stories until I finish a few, but I need to expel these worms from my brain. (also remind me to write something about Eddie Brock/Symbiote Ghoap x reader later)
I don't know if you guys know much about Venom lore, but symbiotes don't have a default system of morality: they take on the same traits and moral values as their hosts. They were created as a sort of world-conquering mindless evil force, but when symbiotes bonded to hosts who wanted to do good, they took on those moralities and became ashamed of their purpose. After they imprisoned the dude who made them to be evil (Knull, btw) they just made up a lie that their species was naturally benevolent.
So picture this: symbiote König who's been captured alongside several others of his kind and brought to Earth by the Life Foundation to study their abilities. I like the idea of symbiote König being similar to Eddie Brock's Venom: he's had bad and good hosts, but the bad ones fucked him up really bad, so now he's the König we know: arrogant and confident in his proficiency in violence, but deeply awkward, lonely, and lost. Getting kidnapped and taken to yet another foreign planet to be poked and prodded and experimented on is just his luck.
But then there's you. A pretty little scientist, not much more than a lab assistant, really. Your first encounter with him consists of you touching a finger to the glass of his prison, and him, curious, moving himself to press his inky dark goop where your skin presses against the glass. You giggle before quickly remembering yourself and skittering away. Symbiotes aren't fond of sounds, but he wouldn't mind hearing that one again...
It's little encounters like that that endears you to him. It didn't take him long to decide he hated humans: they're slow and unintelligent and nowhere near as elegant of a killer as he is, and yet they've managed to trap him and torment him. He's quickly noted as being the most unpredictable and violent of the captured symbiotes. But he likes you, who visits him and talks to him. To you, it doesn't mean much: you may as well be talking to a lab rat, finding an outlet to vent your frustrations about your insane work hours, demanding managers, and meagre pay. To him, he's absorbing everything you tell him, longing to touch you without glass in the way. What would it be like to bond with you, he wonders? To merge symbiote with flesh, and become two moving as one?
He'd like to be inside you, in more ways than one perhaps.
He may have fucked that up, though. It wasn't his fault, that day. They were starving him, these idiotic humans, starving all of them. He had no choice but to eviscerate and wholly consume the poor man sent into his glass cage. But you had been watching, eyes wide in terror, as blood and viscera burst everywhere. If he had a heart, it would have ached as he watched you skitter away...
And yet...there may be something deeply wrong with you, just as there is something wrong with him. Because you're back the next day, a new fascination in your eyes. Instead of talking at him, you talk to him now, asking him questions he only wishes he could answer. If he could just reach you, he could communicate...
König gets his wish the day it all goes awry. A whistleblower breaks in and makes off with one of his breathren, and the next person to stumble upon the scene is his little scientist, who doesn't hesitate to start smashing the glass of his prison. "It's not right," you mutter over and over again. "It's not right..."
He can detect your heartbeat speeding up as he drags himself across the floor to reach you. You shy away out of instinct, and he pauses. There are alarms ringing out now, awful terrible loud sounds, and he would prefer to get out of here immediately, but he refuses to do anything that would drive you away for good. He watches as you heave a deep shaky breath, then reach out a hand to him.
He glides up your hand and wrist, working his way into your body, the symbiosis instant and easy. You're a perfect match. He knew you would be. The armed guards burst through the door, but you have nothing to worry about as he envelops your body. You become a six foot ten behemoth, face hidden by what almost looks like a veil—something he picked up from a former host. You're barely aware of what's happening, too overwhelmed and confused to parse what's going on. But he knows what he's doing.
After he gets you to safety, the two of you will have all the time in the world to get to know each other.

I feel like I've judged the Venom 3 movie wrong. I mean, just ignore the last scene for now okay? The whole movie focuses on the relationship between Eddie and Venom, and them side characters all help establishing this premise. Like the family, the lab ladies, the special forces guy, I mean all of them. Hell even Knull and the Xenophages. The plot is... questionable, but the movie did well if you take into consideration the way it shows us how the relationship between Eddie and Venom has developed. THEY LITERALLY SOUND SO IN LOVE GUYS. Bantering & bickering like an old married couple, Venom being wayy more expressive, Eddie reaching for Venom all the time, god all those details. It's well done.

I'm gonna call it: Sleeper is in this one. Just under different circumstances than the comics.
Eddie and the symbiote gets captured (the whole 'area 51' joke from the second movie) and they're separated while on the run.
Eddie starts feeling drained, exhausted, sick, and hungry like he first did when he first merged with the symbiote. But Eddie knows he's alone now, truly. Alone and on the run by himself.
They're both being hunted, both looking for each other. But Eddie is at a disadvantage. The symbiote knew this.
This can go one of two ways: something happened, and the symbiote failed to inform Eddie, thinking it was the best choice given the circumstances. And the symbiote growing inside him is slowly gaining enough awareness to protect him. To keep him safe until they can reunite later.
Or Eddie was told before the separation, and Eddie spends his time on the run trying to keep both him and the new symbiote safe while trying not to die in the process.
I'm hoping I'm right because of this part in the trailer here:
Tumblr media
This scene looked off to me. Eddie's symbiote is stark black, and even with the lighting, the symbiote tendril shown seems more desaturated to me. Which makes me think this isn't his symbiote. Also, Eddie's reaction right before reaching out to it:
Tumblr media
At this point, this isn't how Eddie is going to be reacting to his symbiote. And in these quick few frames he's almost shaking, hesitant. It's after the helicopter crash and Eddie looks healed.
So what healed him? And who is he reaching out to?
Little Sleeper, who he gets to meet for the first time. Sleeper has bits of yellow/gold and red, so the hue would fit.
Because another point in this scene snippet jumped out at me. After the crash. Eddie hunched inside but clearly not dead. But in pain and clearly emotional.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That helicopter is obliterated, having crashed from the sky with him in it. And there is literally no one else in sight. Not even human remains. So how did he make it out, virtually unscathed?
Maybe this is where Sleeper is strong enough to make an appearance, and to assure Eddie that he's not alone, that he's still protected. That together they'll find Eddie's 'other'.
Please if we can't have Dylan can we have the other Symbrock child, I need the world to know they have canon children.
Sleeper may be just offspring from Eddie's symbiote that Eddie helped nurture, but the fact that the symbiote wanted to raise it to be good, with Eddie, fucking sends me into outer space.
Would have loved the hybrid human/symbiote child Dylan who has the power to control symbiotes, but since this is the last movie...I'mma just cry to myself. Please give us Sleeper. Let Sleeper be the loving child of theirs.
Plus..."we have something he needs"
'we'
Not I, as in Knull wants to devore the symbiotes to take back the power. We. Eddie and his symbiote. It's specific.
Sleeper ends up being hella powerful. Enough that it can exist without a live host. Eddie being able to bond with one of Knull's symbiotes and form a mutual emotional bond with it to create such a being ( two when you count Dylan ) is a fucking threat on every level.
I mean, why is the separation of Eddie and his symbiote the theme here?
"This world can't survive if you stay together."
"If Venom lives, everything will end."
'Venom' of course, being Eddie and the symbiote's merged name. Which takes on a WHOLE new meaning when you think about the fact that Toxin is telling that scientist that if Eddie and the symbiote remain together...Knull is going to send that army. Because Knull doesn't like a good threat to his kingdom. And considering Eddie's symbiote betrayed its race just to be with him...
No one wants to deal with what Venom (Eddie and his symbiote) can create. Too powerful to control and too fearful of the possibilities. But that doesn't stop them and I'm really hoping I'm right.
I could ted talk about this all day.
PLEASE SONY. I'M IN YOUR WALLS AT NIGHT.

I've been thinking about this for a while, but like... What does the symbiote hive think about Eddie not being the King in Black anymore?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because Eddie became King in Black primarily because he killed Knull. But it's clear that the symbiotes were also deeply grateful for being freed from their former king.
They helped and supported Eddie when he needed to use bodies to materialize his mind in another place far from where his flesh and blood body was. And also in his self-imposed mission to clear the name of the Klyntar, doing a job similar to that of the Knights of the Cosmos
And now Eddie is just not King in Black. And nothing happened with that?
I mean, I guess the symbiotes already lived for millennia without a king when Knull was asleep inside the "planet" Klyntar. But, like, you know, no symbiote wondered:
Hey, didn't we have like a King? That human, Edward, the king... why can't we feel his connection to the hive anymore?
Like, of course, symbiotes don't necessarily need a king to live. Because they don't live in society. Sometimes in small groups, but they don't create cities or countries that need a president or a monarch or whatever. They already live in a more anarchistic way.
But you know, if one day you have a king and the next he disappears out of nowhere... I'd be a little worried. Maybe not because I want him back, but because... I don't know, where did he go? Nobody cares? Yesterday we had a king, and today he disappeared. And he didn't even say goodbye!
Also with all this "Eddie's not a King in Black anymore" thing is Eddie still a human symbiote? I mean, I know he's not. But if you do a DNA test on him, is his flesh human? Or is it more like an symbiote, but with the construction of a human. Because what Dylan did by stabbing Eddie was mostly taking away his powers as King in Black. But that doesn't mean it changes what species Eddie is. Which in Venom War was a human symbiote.
Kind of like Dylan is, I guess. Honestly, Marvel hasn't really specified that this whole half-human, half-symbiote thing means anything. Like, do they have more strength than a normal person? Do they have a better healing factor?
Dylan, by bonding with a symbiote, can become Codex. But is that just it? Aren't there any of the other basic things that come with being a symbiote?

Marvel is disappointing me because of its cowardly mindset
Okay, I don't really hate marvel but I'm not going to pretend to like the recent films and series.
I think there are too many cringe plots going on. Its definitely because the film crew have forgotten why marvel was so successful until endgame. Meaning they just don't know what they're doing anymore.
I watched Venom 3 and boy was I upset like every other symbrock shipper. Its been expected by all of us that Eddie and Venom should be more obvious about their relationship. Sadly marvel is ignoring us because they care more about pleasing a specific crowd of critics and sponsors than the millions of fans who actually pay to see their movies.
(Don't attack me but I'm just saying what I have observed recently)
Not only that but they are so in the zone of making male lead movies but don't take most of the cooler female characters more seriously. Ms Marvel series proved my suspicion. Ever noticed how Marvel is basically making almost all their masked characters expose their identities to a slightly big number of people or just completely public?
Spider-Men fighting the villains on the movie No Way Home was the most irritating part.
I'm so annoyed by the fact that the filmmakers want to show off the actors playing their characters. We get it! But I don't care what actor you got! Just that they portray the character well on screen. I just want to see a superhero introduced to the big screen.
Marvel is also scared of disappointing the older generations who do not accept things that fans of my generation and under are already ok with at our young age. Tumblr bloggers and artists already try to encourage people to support queer marvel characters because marvel won't openly confirm their sexualities (thank god its obvious or implied in comics). I've seen very few exceptions and I want to research more.
Eddie and Venom being confirmed as best friends or Eddie saying their just friends makes me even more annoyed. Does marvel even know how many fans shipped them in the movies and comics?
I was so disappointed that we won't see Eddie and Venom face off against Knull later on. It did happen in comics and I had high hopes that I would see a live action version of it. I was expecting that after Venom 2018 movie came out.
And of course I'm going to bring up the spiderverse franchise. Marvel knows that if they make a ghost spider (gwen stacy) standalone movie or series then they can't possibly make it completely heterosexual because her comics were pure lesbianism.
I hate how much power they're letting homophobic superiors have over them. So they'd rather lie to our faces and convince us to ship Gwen x Miles.
The comics actually already told us why Gwen and Miles being a couple is a bad idea.
So I might be attacked or hated but I'm saying all this as an individual and a very observant fan.

Hi I heard you really like Flash and I've been meaning to learn more about his character for a personal story I'm writing, do you have any reading recs for Flash?
hi!! sorry it took me a couple days to get around to this but omg I’m so happy that I’m known as the guy who really likes Flash and yes I would love to talk about it!!
not sure how much you know so I’ll just give you a quick rundown of what Flash is like in the comics! he starts as Peter’s high school bully before becoming friends with him in university. he then joins the US army and fights in the Vietnam war, goes back to being a civilian, then joins the army again and loses his legs overseas. after losing his legs, he bonds with the Venom Symbiote and becomes Agent Venom. he stays in the army for a bit and then goes to space to fight with the guardians of the galaxy (pretty insane lmfao). after that, the Symbiote goes back to Eddie and Flash becomes Agent Anti-Venom. he dies fighting the red goblin but then gets revived during the King in Black run. honestly I haven’t kept up with much after that— he’s still Agent Anti-Venom but I honestly couldn’t tell you what he’s up to right now lmfao.
I’m not the most informed on Flash pre-Venom so imma tag my friend @kitausuret who’s definitely more of a Flash expert than me to tag in and fill in some of the gaps in my recs :D
if you’re specifically interested in Flash as Agent Venom, the Agent Venom run (Venom Vol. 2 #1-41) is a pretty great place to start! it follows Flash through his first bonding with the symbiote and working as a covert agent for the US government. the symbiote isn’t much of a character and is more so a tool (much to my dismay) but the run really handles Flash’s character, relationships, and alcoholism incredibly. The first half is mostly focused on him in the army/running from the army and the second half is him trying to live a quiet life in Philadelphia. he pseudo-adopts an edgy teenager named Andi Benton and she becomes his sidekick.
The Space Knight comics are also really well done! it follows Flash and the Symbiote fucking around in the galaxy and doing little side quests for a bit before the real plot kicks in. I really love how Flash and the Symbiote’s relationship and also Flash’s disability! they don’t tackle it head on iirc but they do show him using mobility aids casually and not just relying on the Symbiote to create legs for him which is nice to see. the concept is a bit nuts— Flash and the Symbiote are agents of the cosmos (basically symbiote good guys™️) and are doing odd jobs to help the citizens of the galaxy and making a little ragtag group of friends as they go— but it’s a really fun read!
for more Flash as Agent Anti-Venom, the smaller part of Costa’s Venom run Venom Inc. (Venom Inc. Alpha, Anazing Spider-man #792, Venom #159, Amazing Spider-man #793, Venom #160, Venom Inc. Omega) is very cool! it’s how he gets the Anti-Venom Symbiote in the first place and it develops his relationship with Eddie. they move from like actively hating each other to being mildly okay with the other person.
there’s also Venom Vol. 4, which is also called the King in Black run due to its heavy focus on Knull, the evil symbiote god. as a Venom fan, I can’t recommend this for how it handles the symbiote and Eddie, but Flash is a pretty big part of it and I like how he’s characterized. they try to do a brothers-in-arms dynamic between Eddie and Flash, Flash turns into a dragon at one point, it’s decent from a Flash fan perspective (I’m aware that this run sounds insane— it is lmfao).
I haven’t read a whole lot after KiB— from what I know he got involved with the Venom War stuff and is human again (he’s been debatably not human since KiB)? but yeah. hopefully there’s some useful info in my ramblings about the comics Flash is in :D
