Revenge (Shuichi Saihara x Reader x Kokichi Ouma)

Similar to Kokichi most days, you had woken up and chose violence. Padding down the stairs, you crept towards the ajar door of Shuichi’s home office. Your blue-haired boyfriend was bent over a file, heavily focused on the case. Since his mind was so preoccupied, he never noticed your soft steps, not until your arms wrapped around him. 

“(Y/n), you scared me!” he exclaimed, letting out a soft laugh and patting your hand absentmindedly. “How did you sleep?” 

When you slipped away from his touch, his brow knitted in confusion, and he turned around in time to notice your quickly retreating form. 

“U-uh, is something the problem?” he anxiously called after you, relaxing when you let out a string of laughter. “...At least, there doesn’t seem to be an emergency. Did Kokichi manage to convince them to prank me?” 

Waving his hand in the air, Shuichi moved back to his case, opting to hold back his curious thoughts until he finished a certain section.

“How are ya doin’, crackerjack?” the purple-haired teen asked, his face exploding in an enthusiastic grin at the sight of you. He was laying on the balcony, enjoying the sunny day. 

“Pretty good. Could I have some of your Panta for a sec?” you answered, grabbing the glass bottle from his extended hand. “Thanks for that!” 

“Am I your favorite now?” Kokichi asked, his legs swinging back and forth. “I don’t think Shumai would have shared his drink so easily~” 

“You’re on the same level as Shuichi,” you replied, leaning down to poke him on the head. “Anyways, I gotta go!” 

“Wait, give me back my Panta!” Kokichi called out, only receiving a mischievous chuckle from you. “You wanted some of my Panta, didn’t you? At least, they’re becoming a better liar from learning from me.”

“What in the world have you been giving them?” Shuichi asked, his eyes flicking up from the book he was reading. 

Kokichi paused, his arms placed behind his head and purple eyes focused on his blue-haired boyfriend. A smile crossed his face as a giggle left him. He moved to flop on the couch, laying his head on Shuichi’s lap.

“You know, I could ask the same thing from you, Shumai. They’ve been poking me and leaving the entire day~” 

“You’re not lying… Are you?” 

“Aww, why would I lie to you?” Kokichi’s lips pouted as Shuichi stared at him. “I mean, you’re the detective. Shouldn’t you know that I’m not lying?” 

“I can never tell with you,” Shuchi murmured, his face screwing up in thought. “I don’t think you’re lying this time. Is (Y/n) trying to mess with us?” 

“Ooh, that sounds fun~” Kokichi replied, placing a finger on Shuchi’s lips to silence him. “You know, what would be even more entertaining?” 

“Do I want to know?” 

“Sure you do!” 

“What…?” 

“ Revenge .”

You stretched out your sore muscles as you pulled on your pajamas, tired from the day of bothering your boyfriends. For all of the number of pranks that Kokichi (and a rather hesitant Shuchi) had pulled on you, it only seemed fair that you would get payback. As you walked into the bedroom, you noticed that your boyfriends still hadn’t gotten ready for bed. Eyebrow knitted in confusion, you padded out to the living room, eyes looking at every point. 

“Hey, guys?” you called out, letting out a yelp when two pairs of lips pressed against your cheeks. Your hand connected with the nose of one of the perpetrators. You hurriedly rushed to the light switch, eyes landing on a disoriented Shuichi that clutched his nose. 

Kokichi, rather than helping his partner in crime, hysterically laughed and pointed at the detective. 

“Kichi, aren’t you going to help him?” you asked, moving forward to check Shuichi’s face for any damage. 

“Relax, (Y/n). You didn’t even hit him that hard. He’s just a little shocked. Aren’t ya, Shumai?” 

When Shuichi nodded in response, a relieved sigh left you as you placed a kiss on the side of his lips. 

“You two are idiots, you know?” you commented, eyes glancing over at Kokichi, who was still shaking with laughter. 

“We’re just as much an idiot as you are, darling,” Kokichi quickly responded, moving forward to wrap his arms around you and Shuichi. 

You rolled your eyes as you ruffled Kokichi’s hair and kissed his cheek. 

“Then, how about we stop being idiots and cuddle?” you asked, massaging your temples. “I don’t know how you guys can run around and pull pranks on me. It’s absolutely exhausting-”

someone liked my ouma rant post and i got mad over it again so i wanna add something else onto that train of thought.

something i see often is that ouma stans will justify ouma’s actions and behaviour during the killing game because “usually his decisions were the right ones, and his intentions were good, and the things he did tended to benefit the group in the end”. like, take the insect meet and greet for example. if he’d gotten everyone to watch the motive videos they could have potentially neutralised kirumi as a threat, and even supported ryoma through the realisation that he had nothing waiting for him in the outside word (allegedly).

but i need you guys to understand how fucking abusive that mindset is. “my actions hurting you is negated by the fact that you benefited from it in the end.” ABSOLUTELY NOT. listen, you don’t get to (and i hate how loosely this term has been used lately :/) gaslight people into forgiving someone for their shitty actions just because of their Intentions. maybe kokichi was right that they should’ve all watched the motive videos. whether or not he was isn’t the important thing here. what matters is he got everybody kidnapped and tormented with bugs. and let’s not forget all that he did in chapter four. you can’t just justify someone’s shitty, harmful behaviour by talking about their intentions, it doesn’t work that way. how often have your parents been like “i’m doing this for your own good” when they did something that hurt you? doesn’t that suck? don’t you think they didn’t actually know better than you/did you really care whether they were right or not? maybe you can respect their choices in hindsight, but that doesn’t rob you of your ability to hate them in the moment.

stop acting like things are black and white. kokichi’s intentions do not negate the harm of his actions. just because he was often right doesn’t mean his approach wasn’t fucking wrong. his plan didn’t even work.

i woke up and chose violence today so

this is your friendly reminder that shuichi was the one person kokichi considered even somewhat trustworthy in game and yet all shuichi did was insult him after chapter 4 (granted, kokichi DID say he was the mastermind and he died without being able to say otherwise). but when you go to investigate kokichi’s room, under shuichi’s picture on the whiteboard it reads “trustworthy?” (other categories include “suspicious”(maki), “weird”(keebo) and “annoying”(monokubs)). this means despite shuichi’s attitude towards him after chapter 4, kokichi still considered him somewhat trustworthy. and shuichi didn’t know that until after kokichi was already dead

Rantaro stepped in front of you as he could feel danger incoming, immediately reacting by trying to defuse the situation before it could escalate. 

“Hey now, why don’t we all just calm down-” Rantaro bore a closed-eyed smile that did a surprisingly well job of concealing his rage at that moment.

“No, that’s it! S/o, you’re going to pay for this!”

Rantaro’s eyes shot open as soon as he felt the wind cut near you, and before he, and others could even realize what he had been doing, it had already been too late.

A sickly crunch rang out in the hall-way, followed by the clattering of a tooth being flung onto the ground nearby.

“Wow! Knock-out!” Kokichi mocked, his tone akin to a game host announcing the K.O. of the opposing player.

It probably should’ve been inappropriate for this situation, but gratefully, and thankfully, it had lightened the mood a little bit. Just a bit.

It definitely suited the situation they had found themselves in, anyway.

Though it still didn’t change the fact that Rantaro had probably broken his hand, as well as broken your ex’s fucking face— but even so, the former was definitely more of a concern; to you and anyone who knows how shitty the other prick was. 

“Holy shit!” Kaito could feel a strange sense of pride overwhelm him, “Damn, Amami! Nice one!” He sent a toothy-grin over to the very pained, but delighted man. 

Rantaro nervously laughed in return, stretching out his very sore hand before facing you, “You okay?” 

You could only nod in reply, brain still registering the fact that Rantaro had... Well, firstly, he had punched someone for you, secondly, that person was your ex, thirdly, he probably just risked his entire reputation for you.

That was settled, you were indebted to this man indefinitely. 

“... You can see the indent of Rantaro’s rings on the cheek of the face. That’s... quite impressive.” The detective hummed. Shuichi hunched over the unconscious body, golden eyes staring down at the sorry excuse of a man in pity, and slight wonder. 

Miu interrupted Saihara’s attempt at finding out exactly how many areas of their face had been affected. “Hah! You can’t even recognize the fucker’s face anymore!” Miu cackled, taking out her phone as she snapped a couple of close-up shots of your ex, grinning wickedly as she started tapping up the caption, “#epicfailz”

Anything you’d like to share on the theory that Kokichi doesn’t have a talent

It's a braindead take unless you can show me a screenshot from the new game that somehow proves it.

He's absolutely the Ultimate Leader and there are several moments that prove it:

When he scolded Kaede for her bad leadership in the despair road so that everyone wouldn't lose morale.

When he lulled most of the group into a sense of calm by falsely claiming that Monokuma was perma-dead.

When he tried to prevent CH2's murder by forcing the cast to have a viewing party, partnering with Gonta to do so.

When he hinted at Kiibo multiple times to use his robot abilities to get them out, accurately assessing Kiibo's ability to get them free if CH6 is anything to go by.

When he called out Shuichi for lying and covering for Maki because it could've gotten everyone killed.

When he made himself into an antagonistic figure because he was accurately able to read Monokuma's intent to destroy their hope and chose to be the lesser evil for the group, even though it cast suspicion on him and put a target on his back, instead of letting the cast face the full brunt of TDR's attempts to break their spirits.

When he blew Maki's cover and kept reminding the cast to be wary, despite having the option to stay silent and not cause a very angry and deadly assassin to hold a grudge against him, because he knew she had the most potential out of the cast to get everyone killed by winning the game.

Literally all of CH4, but especially during the investigation and the trial. Read my analysis post about his plan, it's such a good moment but it'll take too long to elaborate in a way that can do it justice.

When he was literally the only one resolute enough to not fall in line with Kaito's shitty leadership by the end of the game, standing his ground even though it pit everyone against him.

When he- amidst his despair and suicidal thoughts, right after his only friends died and his would-be final plan failed- found a way to keep the mastermind and Kaito in check in order to turn the school into a safe haven from the apocalypse.

When he managed to blackmail Kaito, his biggest detractor, into working with him with nothing but his quick wit and charisma while suffering from painful poison and crossbow bolt wounds.

When he saved the girl who literally attempted (and kinda succeeded) to torture him to death despite having the option to take her out with him, instead choosing to sacrifice himself slowly and painfully to try and help a cast of people who vilified him and didn't even care that he had died.

Whatever the fuck else I can't think of off the top of my head.

Kokichi proves throughout the entire game that he cares about the cast, even more than himself, despite their hatred and violence towards him– showing them a compassion that they never afford him even when he's at his breaking point and it's painfully obvious that he's struggling on his own.

Not just that, but he can also accurately predict the casts's actions and emotions, assess their abilities, read their intentions, plan thorough countermeasures, and use multiple methods to lead them to the truth (or the conclusion he wants them to reach) even when they are turned against him.

Explain to me how an ability that is this good and thoroughly laid out by the writers could be anything but his ultimate talent. Ya can't, because it can't be anything but that.

❝ Pretty naughty of you to try and keep it a secret from me. Tsk, tsk- ❞ Kokichi tuts, revealing the hands previously clasped behind his back. Cradled in his palms are two cupcakes in Shuichi's preferred flavor— don't ask how he got that information, he'll never tell —decorated with a gaudily bright-yellow smiley faces of frosting. Taped to one wrapper is a little note that says, 'Eat me, I'm not poisoned'. And on the other is a note that says 'Eat him, he's not poisoned'.

Spoiler alert: neither of them are poisoned... but they are filled with an ungodly amount of spice. With the real treat ( a favorite slice of cake ) tucked away in advance, hidden in a box on the underside of a nearby table, Kokichi briefly wonders if this little game will prove to be too challenging for the detective. But it's a fear that's quickly brushed aside, figuring that it's a win either way. Either Shuichi chooses a spicy cake and burns his tongue ( and then Kokichi can apologize with the good cake ) or he calls the trickster's bluff and yet again proves why Kokichi locked in on him as a worthy adversary. ❝ So- Let's play a game, Detective~ ❞

❝ In my possession, I have a sweet treat for you... I also have a not-so-sweet treat. ❞ Technically, he has TWO. Quirking a brow, wondering if Shuichi can read between the lines of his seemingly straightforward test, he quips, ❝ Which do you think is the right one? ❞ - (( Late to the party and I'm sorry for the length, but kokichi saw birthday things and chose violence apparently XD I am so sorry for him but this is just What He Wanted lol ))

Shuichi thought he'd visit one of his favorite bookstores today, to treat himself to a book he had been excited to read; that, and he had some time for himself in the busy day he will have, so he wanted too spend it doing something relaxing. He was curled on the sofa in one of his favorite sections of the small store as he read. That is, until he heard a familiar voice call out to him. “!” To his surprise, it was Kokichi. “Oh, Kokichi! H-Hello....” He gives a small wave of his hand back, though frantically gestures him to lower his face, as he saw the annoyed looks people were giving the boy... and to him-by extension-since he was the one Kokichi was calling out to. Giving an apologetic smile to nearby people, he quickly turns his attention back to the other. “Ah? O-Oh, yes, that’s right. Heh heh...” He bashfully scratches his cheek. He’s sure their classmates must have told him. Though that made him realize that he hadn’t told Kokichi, himself... and so, he gives a quick shake of his head in protest as he exclaims: “N-No, it’s not that! I swear I was not trying to keep it a secret, I’m sorry: I didn’t realize I hadn’t told you either, was all... you’re not someone I would want to keep that a secret from.” Not that Shuichi was private about his birthday anyway, but especially not to his friends.

Then when Kokichi revealed those two cupcakes in his hands, Shuichi gives a surprised blink. “O-Oh? For me?” Through the wrapper, he could see they both were chocolate flavored, his favorite. That notable detail was nice, and while the surprisingly bright yellow smiley face frosting was certainly a unique style he hadn’t had before, he did find it amusing, and honestly like Kokichi to get him something like that. And just as he was about to smile and say: “Why thank you, Koki....” Until he saw what the notes attached to the wrappers said. “...Chi.... o-oh god. What... is this...”

Like the kind of riddle one would find in a mystery or adventure game: having to decipher which one is lying, and which one is telling the truth. Except that there really is no hint to tell who is actually being truthful, as Shuichi highly doubts the supposedly "not poisoned" one is actually safe to eat.... Well, not that Shuichi was worried these were literally poisoned, but he's still sure that Kokichi still might have done something to one of these cupcakes... like maybe put in an ingredient that should not normally be in a cupcake, as a prank. And hoping it's not a certain kind of flavor Shuichi cannot handle at all...

"A-A game?" He listens to Kokichi explain, as his eyes shift between each cupcake. "A sweet treat and a not-so-sweet treat, huh..." He repeats under his breath. At the inquiry of which he thinks is the right one, he furrows his brows as he leans in closer to give the cupcakes a closer look. "Mmm..." But even as he got a better look at them, Shuichi truly saw no difference between the two. So if he were to guess, he'd have to take a stab at the dark and just hold he gets lucky; that is, if this was a normal guessing game. This was Kokichi, after all: he knows things are never so straightforward with him. And so he knew the true hint to the answer: was in Kokichi's words. The more he thought over how he exactly phrased his words, the more he realized the more straightforward it truly was not.

And so as he stands back up straight, he finally gives his answer: "The answer is...neither are the right one. I had a feeling it wasn't as obvious as it sounds, but then I thought to myself: in your possession...doesn't necessarily have to mean in your hand, right? I do not doubt that you have a sweet treat...but who's to say it's actually in your hand right now? Plus...you didn't say you specifically have one not-so-sweet treat. You said 'a'. So with that in mind, couldn't that mean...both of these are the 'wrong' ones, and that the real answer- the actual sweet one-is hidden somewhere else...?"

He knows a part of him could also be reading too much into Kokichi's exact word usage, but he supposes the detective in him couldn't help that. Still, he wanted to st least be confident in his answer. And so, with one more nod in confirmation, he adds: "So yes. My answer is: both the cupcakes in your hands...are not the right one! Am I correct?"
