Today was not a good day for Y/n... but it got better.
First: she was fired. Second: she was almost positive that Derek, her boyfriend had forgotten their anniversary. But for now, she decided to ignore her problems and watch some TV.
Plopping onto the couch she sighs, turning on the TV to something random. It was a random cartoon, and she loved it- especially after a hard day.
When she was little she would watch cartoons as well. When her parents were arguing? Cartoons. And when she got a booboo? Cartoons. Even now it was still a habit to watch some cartoons when things got stressful.
Y/n let out a little squeak when she felt herself being picked up. She may have gotten a bit too immersed in TV. "Hi, Dare bear," she says with a giggle. He gave her a warm smile and positioned her in a bridal style. "Hi, sweetie"
Her eye caught his pearly k9 tooth, her favorite to see when he smiled. When it showed, it was a genuine one. And it seemed he never faked one toward her, and she loved that. She loved how genuinely soft the big strong werewolf was for her, a nature faerie.
Derek carried her to their bedroom, laying her down on the huge bed. "I have a surprise for you," He happily shrills as he jogs to the bathroom to fetch something. He comes back with a huge box, along with a few other things.
He hands her a card first, wanting her to open it. She grabbed it gracefully, glancing at him to see his eyes sparkle with happiness. Or maybe it was Eargernes... She giggled, "I thought you forgot." He shook his head, looking a bit offended at first. "I would never forget about you, my love."
She gushed at him, almost shedding a tear from the cuteness. He never seemed to make her feel disloved, she always felt appreciated.
Y/n opened the card, reading it and shedding a few tears as she read it. It talked about the day they met how much he knew she was the one for her. and how he wanted to spend the rest of his wolfy life with her.
"Aww, Derek! You're the cutest!" Yn squealed. She then got up and rolled under the bead to get the present for him.
"You, haven't even opened the other one!
"Wait! I got a bunch of lingerie and I wanted you to judge them!"
Derek tilts his head humorously with a smirk. "Today is about love but when the clock hits midnight we'll do that," he grunts, his veins flexing in his neck as he rolls it to look away bashfully.
Y/n pauses. "Derek, it's 10 p.m."
"I know, now open the present!" he yells, ushering her as he shoved the big box onto her lap. He removes takes a peek under the bed and growls, "How much did you get? Damn," he asks, amazed at how many boxes there were under the bed. "A bit... like 20 pairs... plus some toys."
"Toys?"
Y/n ignores him and rips open the wrapping paper. She squeaks at the big frog stuffed animal with a top hat. "Ahhh! His name shall be George!"
She squeezed the stuffed animal, wrapping her legs and arms around it like she was a koala bear. The soft frog was almost twice her size!
"Great now I'm gonna have to sleep on the couch! you found a new cuddle buddy," Derek teases. He picked her up again, sitting her on his lap once he sat next to where she was. He then opened her next present showing her the necklace with her and his initials on it. He put the necklace on her, kissing her cheek. He patted George on the head. "I think you might like George more than the custom necklace," he jokes.
Y/n gave him a sly smile. "Of course, I do! Look at him, but I don't mind having your initials on my body as well; that's nice as well," She shrugs, blinking at him. He rolled his eyes playfully.
"I love you," Derek whispers and then kisses her cheek. He turns to George, the stuffed animal, "I guess I love you too, George."
This made y/n giggle which caused the two of them to enter a big laughing fit. "George is mine!" She warns with a squint of her usual big eyes.
"Well, you're mine; so, technically he's mine as well," Derek quips with a poke of her cheek. "Okay, mister guard dog," y/n jokes.
"Don't test me, I'll bark."
"Please don't."
He opens his mouth and she covers it swiftly. He licks her hand as soon as her hand touches his mouth. It doesn't deter her. "Hon, I've had your other fluids on me, your saliva doesn't gross me," she laughs. He winks at her and nibbles her palm.
Derek squeezes her, his head going to her neck and planting a small kiss on the sensitive area just below her ear. Y/n shivered and giggled as it tickled her. "If you're hungry I can make you something, silly," Y/n jokes. Derek shakes his head at her and snuggles into her body more. "I'll have my dessert in a bit."

everybody’s always on writing prompts like “what if there was a world where everyone had a timer ticking down to their death… but you met someone whose timer said infinity!” or “what if everyone had their cause of death tattooed across their forehead… but you met someone whose forehead said THE CREATURE!” Enough -
enough. stop with the shock value. there is no need to insert THE CREATURE; the benign concept of such a world is horrifying enough. not even in urgency, but just in banal, everyday interaction. imagine you meet someone and their timer says two years. not tomorrow, not urgently soon, but two years. enough to do quite a lot. they could fall in love in that time - could they get engaged? have a baby? you might otherwise get to know them, befriend them, but perhaps you opt not to, make a conscious choice not to invest in your own grief. what balancing act would every individual person have to participate in - I have ten years, is that long enough to be a good mother to children? is that long enough to secure a caretaker for my own mother? my wife will die a few months before me. my newborn’s timer reads nineteen years.
and cause of death. you interview for a job and emblazoned across the healthy, smiling face of the HR lady is MALNUTRITION. your country is prospering, safe, but every person you meet on the street from the babies to the old women read BOMB. BOMB. what kind of havoc would fate wreak on the world? what about the loss of privacy? how would that shape our notions of hope? idk man I think a lot of those ancient poems were right, and the fates are monsters. I’m interested by the framing of these ideas as trite horror tales when the premises themselves are so much more disturbing if simply taken to their logical ends
