I love when people tell me I make clothing wrong. I love when they tell me “you have to knit sweaters from a yoke” and “you have to sew a back rip stitch for a garment zipper” because I don’t! I don’t!!! I can make clothing however I like! I knit sweaters from the bottom up in panels on straight needles! I sew my zippers on by hand with embroidery thread! And guess what?! The sweaters look like sweaters! The zippers work like zippers! The SNOZBERRIES taste like S N O Z B E R R I E S!!

Do you have any tips/resources for getting your gathers so even? Gathers are my nemesis; I’m fine with placing the actual stitches but when it comes time to gather and stitch them down they never look quite right and certainly not as consistent.
This is also something I struggle with, but there's some things that have worked for me:
Two rows of gathering stitches and then you stitch between them
Making your gathering stitches long-short-long-short instead of equally sized gives the gathers a place to go so they're not all bunched up
If you're gathering down a lot of fabric, give your gathers a good steaming and pull them all neatly straight. Then you let the fabric cool down completely and your gathers will have learned to lie a little neater
When you're pinning the gathers down, treat them like pleats and already push them in the direction you want them to go
If you're doing modern garments and have access to a serger, that conveniently already gives two equally sized gathering lines very quickly
And lastly, the really tedious handsewing them down one by one as if they're cartridge pleats:
Hope this covers a bit of your question!

Cass + ballet 🩰 (ft. supportive siblings and good dad Bruce)
I love the idea of Cass enjoying dance. It's an outlet that allows her to express herself without words, and I think she would enjoy the highly technical aspect of ballet combined with its storytelling and emotional side. and as a former dancer I always have fun imagining my fav characters do ballet :)

Next baby quilt top is done!
Not my usual color scheme or pattern or…anything, really, but it’s Georgia Bulldog colors for a charity fundraiser rally thing run by a relative of a relative and that’s what they wanted so it’s what I’m making

i did it
--
faceup was done by the person i bought the doll from, i just added freckles and painted his nails. i swapped his eyes, styled the wig, and made his outfit, apart from the metal embellishments which i stole off of the outfit the doll came with or found in my basement.
things i have learned about myself during this process: i do no enjoy customizing dolls. this was an entirely frustrating process and i disliked 90% of it, especially making the clothes. which is why they're not as finished as they could be. however now i have a doll of my dnd character so it was worth it. he can sit by my computer and judge my performance of him on dnd nights
things i learned about celeste during this process: he has claws. the doll came with clawed nails on the feet which i didn't realize when i bought it but i kind of dig it so i'm incorporating that into his character. there are celestials with claws i'm sure. he has inexplicably sharp toenails now it's canon
i will probably go buy more of the anklet rings for his wrists as well and swap those out but the store only had two packs of those so i couldn't get enough. i will probably also change the pendant, that was just some little pre-wrapped bead i found in a box in the basement that was Good Enough lol. but for the moment he's done.

Gremlin Thoughts
Can I just say that outfit Osha was wearing was probably meant for Mae... And it fit Osha perfectly... Now I have thoughts of Qimir trying to figure out Mae's size to either buy the outfit or make it. And, him just wondering if the color and fabric is to his liking. Also thinking how that outfit doesn't suit Mae at all, because her own original outfit was cunty enough.

Writing a story is like knitting. You gotta keep picking up the stitches from the previous rows. It's not even about plot holes. It's the momentum, the pacing. You get to a place where you have no stitch to pick up and the whole thing grinds to a halt. The story drags, sags even. It's missing something. You gotta go back and find that stitch.

🧵Threads and needles, pins and stitches,,,📍
Been brainrotting over mob Sunny lately, so I had to make them a design
tw blood below the cut
Being left emotionless and willingness, Sunny is a simply loyal and reliable person to work with. His main job is to assist Poppy in taking medical care of family members/in cleanup of crime scenes, but would do pretty much any other work he's assigned to do by others.
Despite his cold demeanor, Sunny is very caring about the "family",,, but only as far as they have injuries, get sick etc. He doesn't feel the need to engage in any social interactions with others, doing it only if they're told to.
Aside from being a nurse, Mx. Aster is a designer who tailors the majority of "family's" outfits.
They mostly stay at the mob headquarters, since she's not the most useful in slose combat or anything of that sort (not physically well), can be required for stealthy and quiet job I suppose??
In a fight he prefers to attack from longer distance, using his shears or daggers to throw at the opponent. But anything could happen-
They may be tweaking a lil,,, but not to worry, not like anyone would witness it or remember
template by @/clownsuu
Idk if there's any use in making this relationship thing since they can't really have their own opinion on things
meh

I MADE THE DRESS AND IT TOOK A LONG TIME!
So a while ago, I saw this post by @inkz123 and really wanted to recreate the design irl. Last night i covered myself in glitter and showed off the dress for all to see! (also voice reveal at the end, but no face reveal.) (yes i got permission from inkz to use the design before doing any of this.)
Dress stats!
Time spent on the:
Base Dress: about two hours in one sitting
Chiffon Top: maybe four or five hours over a few days
ALL THE FEATHERS: about 5 hours over two sessions
Glitter: maybe ten seconds. i just used glitter spray.
Time i will spend cleaning glitter out of my room: an eternity.
Total estimate: about 12 hours over a few weeks
Total cost: (all of these are rounding and estimations)
The cotton for the base dress and the chiffon: $30
The feathers: $60
Glitter: $10
Tights: $8 (just bought them on amazon)
Extras (the charms, hair clip, etc): $15
Total estimate: $125-ish
Feel free to ask any questions about the dress, the process, etc, i love talking about this kind of thing!

Got told by a friend the back of my stitching is eerily neat so I thought I'd share
This is the front of the design
And this is the back
It's a sweater I bought that had cross-stitch flowers printed onto it so I've made it my goal to physically stitch them on cause it just looks way nicer

Not Shure that counts course not a garment. But recently I purchased a still functioning Pfaff K from 1909. And I haven't told enough people about her yet 🥺
Hope things get better soon 🧡
Oh she's beautiful! A treadle and handcrank with transverse shuttle! And such a beautiful cap too? And the lovely roses?
The fact that its still functioning is amazing! You definitely should tell everyone about this treasure, thank you so much for showing me!
