Our first introduction to Luke is him trying to get out of chores to hang out with his friends, and you want him to be in charge of a planet?

Luke Skywalker, the guy who put his whole heart and soul into piloting and being a Jedi? The guy who blew up the Death Star and redeemed Darth Vader? The guy who risked his life to save a woman he hadn't met? The guy who chose a life of solitude to dedicate himself to teaching a dead religion? You think he'll enjoy discussing things in committee?

And you think Leia Organa, cut-throat, analytical Leia, would be satisfied as farmgirl Leia Skywalker?

The woman who called Tarkin smelly while being kept as a prisoner? The woman who resisted Darth Vader's torture as an adult and Reva's interrogation as a child? Who watched her home and her people destroyed and not even an hour later was arguing and insulting her rescuers? Who held a primed thermal detonator in her hand without blinking? Who strangled Jabba the Hutt with the chain he put around her neck?

You want that woman living in the same household as Owen Lars? They'd kill each other!

You want Leia Organa forced to stay home and do her chores instead of fighting the Empire? Be a farmer like Owen or a housewife like Beru? Never straying further from home than to Mos Eisley? You think she'd ever stand for that?

ffs, just cuz Luke likes fashion and Leia likes fighting doesn't mean they were put in the wrong families! Leia could have been a pilot or a Jedi, but she chose to be a rebel and a leader. Luke could have been General or a diplomat, and he chose to be a Jedi.

TL;DR: If we were to take Luke and Leia the way they are in the OT and switch their childhood circumstances, neither of them would thrive in each other's shoes.

I'm actually leaning towards a no, thanks to Hallowflight! I don't need to have Lily and Seed watch their dad get dusted AND slowly see a bunch of other kids get shredded too lmao.

In-canon, "two" kits die. One kit who was given two names, which means BONES GETS A FREE KIT SAVE but anyway, the "two" kits are Weaselkit, and Happykit.

Happykit is the name the fandom gave when he was unnamed and Vicky approved it, and Weaselkit is the canon name he got later.

They are also SHADOWCLAN kits, which means, they could potentially be EXTREMELY useful. Pinenose is hogging too many children slots, plus Weasel and Happy would give her SIX KIDS. ShadowClan is a Clan where 2 women produce all of the babies in every generation and I don't like that

okay hello so i think the sparksnotes of my thoughts can be summed up with my storygraph review that i’ve copy pasted - but i can definitely expand on what i’ve said! under the cut again (tsh fans look away xx)

Donna Tartt creates an incredible atmosphere with vivid imagery and then essentially drifts through the book on that alone. Henry and Bunny were both interesting and dynamic characters (and Richard, to a degree) - everyone else was very one dimensional. Camilla sort of just waifs around and is beautiful and everyone is in love with her (it feels like tartt wrote her as a male fantasy character then failed to make a point about it in any way like she was almost accidentally written that way. sorry!!)

A huge amount of the action is told through dialogue which gets incredibly tedious and boring. There are an exceptional amount of scenes that aren’t really about anything other than sustaining that dark and beautiful atmosphere or showing dynamics between characters that don’t really … say anything - about the characters or the story or overarching themes (there are scenes that do achieve this too but just so many that don’t). What was achieved in 500+ pages could have been done with less, and with far more impact. I don’t mind a scene with no particular purpose than to show the characters/ who they are/ how they interact but as said before, most of the characters are one dimensional!! it’s an impressive feat considering how often the core group are on the page! I just finished this book feeling frustrated and bored - although the last 10% picks up.

+ i think i’ve said if i didn’t have such high expectations i would have been able to enjoy it more for what it was! to me, it read as a book by an author wanting to show they were a good writer - and donna tartt is in a lot of respects, she has beautiful prose - and how almost… smart? they are? also why was julian barely in it i feel like he could’ve had far more impact ALSO i think the julian/henry dynamic could have been explored that could have been so interesting

I just read this scene and all I can think about is that maybe that vision wasn't as bad as Feyre imagined.

I remember Feyre mentioning that maybe it was a "provocation" from the Carver, when she saw that image, that boy, for the first time. An image of a future she could lose if she failed in the war against Hybern. But... What if the Bone Carver didn't do that, if he has control of that part of his power, with a bad intention? Well, yes, maybe he did it on purpose. But because he knew his own end was coming, and he wanted to give Feyre that gift – regardless of whether she got the Uroboros or not.

He wanted to show her that there would be a future, a chance. A reason to fight, to survive.

Your child, your future child.

Your promise of the future. One last gift from the Carver to Feyre, before his end: to give her hope. A vision of the future that would await her.

I will cry-

Carver, we love you, always, wherever you are, darling.

I hope it kicks Amarantha and Ianthe's asses, and the King of Hybern, along with Stryga (my favorite twins-)
