A Degrassi Essay About Rick Murray

(Part 4)

We've covered a lot of ground so far: Rick's motives for returning, what the principal could or couldn't have done, and students' reactions to his return. Specifically we examined Emma's initial interactions with Rick as he made his reappearance in "Mercy Street". We will now take a closer look at other characters and their motivations for their behavior towards Rick. This post will focus on antagonists only. We will save his allies for the next post.

Spinner

Spinner has an obvious personal motivation to antagonize Rick, but he goes through a remarkable character arc. Spinner was the one, along with Paige, to find Terri lying on the ground unconscious. I can only imagine what thoughts must have flashed through their minds; their own versions of how Rick landed Terri in the coma. That's something that will stay with them for the rest of their lives, though this event might be overshadowed with what's to come in season four, dare I say. In "Don't Dream It's Over", Spinner sees Rick sitting in his mom's car and confronts him, and he rears up to punch him, but Paige intervenes, quickly followed by Rick's mother, who pulls Spinner away from her son. A moment later we see him retreat, and Paige pursues him. In this moment he's sobbing, saying he's "just like [Rick]", but Paige insists that he's different. It's one of the first times we see a vulnerable side to Spinner, who's either been portrayed as a dense bully or Paige's loyal boyfriend wrapped around his girlfriend's finger. Anyone who is able to extract such a tender moment from Spinner is bound to end up being resented by him, which I believe the seeds for Rick had been planted as early as the end of season three. When Paige and Spinner's relationship takes a hit in season four, with the drama of the Dean trial and Paige crashing Spinner's car into her rapist's car, the previously softened, dull Spinner returns to his bullying roots, which is only amplified when Paige splits from Spinner. He soon joins forces with Jason Hogart, embracing full antagonist mode in the plotline against Rick. Originally he takes part in the ribbon campaign as a way to avenge Terri's injustice, but soon it just becomes a favorite past time of his, along with Jay, to torment Rick. It's not like anyone would come to his defense, at least anyone who could fight him off. He gets a rude awakening when he realizes in season four that his actions have consequences, not only for himself, but for those he cares about. Gavin Mason hits the ground hard this season, and it will take more than just apologies to bounce back from this.

Paige

Paige, like Spinner, found Terri lying on the ground out at the park with Rick hovering over her unconscious body. As Spinner runs to grab his phone for emergency services, it's Paige that reaches down to touch the back of her friend's head, only to get a handful of blood. That's something that stays with you for life: the stuff of recurring nightmares. Her motivation, like Spinner's, is personal. She collaborates with Emma to bring justice to her friend, but, unlike Spinner, she doesn't go as far as bullying Rick, but she fully believes in the power of social ostracization. This is different from her usual mean girl vibe: this is justified in her mind. Rick needs to be punished for what he did, and no one seems to be doing anything about it, so why not take matters into her own hands? We see her tease Rick right before he goes on stage for the Whack-Your-Brain finals (4x07), but the matter in which Rick replied to her taunting (quick and witty) lets the viewers know this isn't the first time she had given him a hard time, though her meddling of Rick never becomes physical. Paige is a dynamic character, and we see that, when Rick is publically humiliated in front of the entire school, she has a conscious and expresses her empathy for Rick when she encounters him in the cafeteria after it happened. She even goes as far to acknowledge that they aren't on the greatest terms, yet she didn't let that stop her from reaching out to Rick. It's in this instance that we are reminded of the power of words. Just by expressing her sorrow, Rick felt seen and heard, and he almost went back on his plan to seek revenge for his mortification. This is what I like about Paige's character, which makes her fun to watch in scenarios like these. She knows when it's time to make jokes and when it's time to be serious. She's emotionally intelligent. We see similar interactions in earlier seasons, where she tries to relate to Ashley about having a gay family member, when she consoles Emma who gets her period in class, or the time when she reminds Manny to ask the right questions before engaging in intercourse.

Alex

Alex Nunez has been a background character all of season three, only playing the role of Jay's girlfriend, but in season four, she's given some dimensions. Initially she appears to be joining the bandwagon of antagonizing Rick (episode 4x04), but then we get a glimpse of her true motivations during her conversation with Emma. In this scene, Rick walks up to Emma and wants to donate a check of over five hundred dollars to her fundraiser. For a fleeting moment, Emma considers it, but Alex appears on the scene and snatches the check out of Rick’s hands, telling him no one wants his guilt money. Rick tries to reason with her, but Alex shuts down that conversation immediately, causing a discouraged Rick to walk off. Emma asks for the check, but Alex tears it to ribbons. Before Emma can accuse her of not caring about the campaign, Alex insinuates that Emma doesn't know anything about it. "You ever ice your mom's lip? Bandage her up? Lay awake at night listening to her cry?" It's in this chilling scene do we learn that she has experienced domestic abuse first hand through her mother. Punishing Rick is her own way of avenging what her mom's boyfriend(s) did to her. She’s more than just Jay's chick. She is deeply concerned about women’s welfare when it comes to relationship abuse, yet another reason why it was a travesty to have the scene with her and Marco talking to Raditch deleted. Once again, we get to learn more about who Alex really is when she pleads with the principal to reconsider letting Rick back into the school. We start to see that there are layers to this girl.

Spinner's, Paige's, and Alex's motives are relatively straightforward and easy to understand. This next character is harder to peg, even more difficult to understand than Emma's motivations.

Jay

Degrassi's resident "bad boy", Jason Hogart ceases any opportunity to wreak havoc on the lives of any Degrassian. While I'd love to say his motive for coming after Rick was for "kicks and giggles", I would like to play devil's advocate for a bit, especially considering that his own girlfriend has had experience with domestic abuse. Maybe she talked to him about it. Maybe Jay visited Alex's house a number of times and had seen it for himself. Maybe he had to protect Alex from the collateral damage that her mom's boyfriend(s) would inflict. We don't know the dynamics of their relationship this early on in the series, so it is hard to confirm. Either way, Jay shows no mercy for Rick as he is the character that jumps Terri's ex at the Dot, drags him to the back alley, and punches him in the gut. He is also the one that is shown throwing Rick against a locker in episode 4x06 "Islands in the Stream" with ease, which gives the audience the feeling that Jay has done this to Rick many times before.

Unlike, Spinner, Jimmy, Paige, and even Alex, who at some point either experience a change of heart towards Rick, feel bad that he was humiliated on stage, or feel guilty about the school shooting, Jay shows no remorse for what he did as being one of the three accomplices in setting up the paint and feathers alongside Spinner and Alex. In episode 5x10, "Redemption Song", a year after the shooting had taken place, Jay says that they "did the world a favor" to Spinner after the latter asks the former if he ever thought about what happened with Rick. It's his reaction to the tragedy that forces me to believe that he didn't really care about getting justice for Terri or the fact that anyone else got hurt. He never goes into an explanation about what he means, either. They "did the world a favor" by humiliating Rick on stage? Lying to him later about Jimmy being the culprit? Indirectly getting Jimmy shot? Perhaps Jay means that they aided in unmasking Rick's true nature of violence, and to half of the Degrassi fans, Rick never truly changed, so to them this is true, though I doubt anyone agrees that this was done in favor of anyone. In the wake of tragedy, everyone loses.

Even in the beginning when everyone was united in the campaign against Rick, Jay was the only one to make a mockery out of the situation. Even as the others detested Rick, no one was seen outright making fun of him (except maybe Spinner). To everyone else, this was serious business. He even got himself expelled from school, and by the looks of things, he never cared or tried to return. If you also take into consideration all of the other characters he would persuade into doing things, they almost always end up worse off than before. We see this with Sean, who would go on to steal Snake's laptop; J.T., who decides to steal drugs from the pharmacy at which he's employed and sell them to dealers on the street; Spinner, who lies to Rick about Jimmy being responsible for the paint and feathers prank and winds up indirectly responsible for Jimmy's fate; and Emma, who Jay preyed upon while she was in a state of shock after the tragedy in order to get her to perform oral sex on him. Hell, the first time we're introduced to Jay is in season three when he calls Paige's brother Dylan "Homo-chuk" (episode 3x04), a reference to him being gay. Given his resume of ruining characters' lives (although only two of these instances occurred before the Rick conflict), it's hard for me to believe that he cared about any justice being served. All of the evidence points to the contrary. Rick was just the perfect outlet for his bullying urge since no one would rush to the kid's aid after what he did to Terri. Jay was just doing what Jay does best: stirring up trouble. In this way, he's similar to an arsonist: he sets the fires and watches them burn.

Enhypen x 8th Member Reader

Summary: You’re in the US on tour, but right now it's your day off. You, Niki, Jungwon, and Sunoo decided to go to Universal Studios. You’re spending the day together and having fun! Note: You're younger than Jungwon but older than Niki and your members love spoiling you. Also I just used a wheel spinner to decide a lot of things. It’s a bit long but I hope you guys enjoy it :)

Dragging your feet as you walk through airport security with your members, you slowly rock yourself on your heels to keep you awake as staff prepare to take you guys to your hotel. Glad that there were no fans or cameras you and your members began to relax as you were being taken to your car. As staff take everyone's bags, you and your members pile into the car half asleep and try to get comfortable. It’s a black van with tinted windows and you’re in the back between Sunghoon and Jake. In the row in front of you Niki, Heeseung, and Jungwon sit together while Jay and Sunoo have their own seats in front of them. 

Barely awake, try to look out the window to take in the views LA has to offer on your trip to the hotel. Looking at the back of Niki’s head, you see him taking pictures of anything with lights and chuckle lightly while patting his head for a moment before laying back in your seat. Turning to your side you see Jake next to you with his eyes closed before he slowly rises from his seat slightly and blinks. You swear his eyes blinked at separate times but you were too tired to laugh or make any jokes. Laying your head back against the headrest you stare at the back of Heeseungs head as he's pretty much laying limp and only being held up by his seatbelt. Glancing at Sunghoon you flinch as you practically jump because he has the emptiest, most unseeing stare in his eyes. Brows furrowing you turn away and try to get comfortable again while trying to sneak a picture of Sunghoon being empty headed. Deciding to take a quick nap you throw your leg over Jake’s, knowing he wouldn’t mind and fall asleep. 

Sleep was seducing, so much so that whenever anyone ever tried to wake you up, they couldn't. Yes you would eventually get up, but it was difficult. Sometimes you wouldn’t even actually be awake when someone woke you. Instead it was like you were some sleepwalking semi-functioning person, and whenever any of the members tried talking about it, you had no memory. Feeling someone shaking your shoulder, you kept pushing them away before finally getting up. As your eyes adjust to the light your brows furrow as you slowly get up from a bed… “Where am I?” you ask as you turn to see who was shaking you. Niki laughs and shakes his head, knowing that earlier you were in your sleep zombie state. “We made it to the hotel, don't you remember? You helped with the luggage and everything.” he explains as he chuckled into his hand before pointing to the mini table in your room. “The others already ate but we ordered you food. Jakes downstairs swimming so I’m gonna go check it out.” stated while checking out your room before waving bye. Stretching, your bones pop as you yawn before getting up to devour the food they left for you. 

After finishing your skincare routine and blow drying your hair, you decided to go knock on your member’s doors and see who's doing what. First you skip over to Sunoo, Heeseung, and Jungwon’s room. Knocking, you wait at the door patiently while looking at your slippers, you hear shuffling behind the door and try to press your ear against it to hear better. As the door opens you smile at Sunoo’s weary look as he opens the door, “Can I come in?”. Walking in you look around and see that already the room was messy and you remembered the perks of being the only female member meant getting your own room, always. Sitting on one of the beds, you smile as you see Heeseung laying down on his stomach while he scrolls on his phone. Feeling playful you crawl over to him before laying down on him with your back against his. He groans, at the sudden feeling of your weight on him, but he doesn’t protest. Your members always put up with you and you’re glad they treat you nicely. 

“So what are you doing here instead of your own room?” Sunoo asks as he sits down on the bed near you while on his phone. “I wanted to see if anyone had any plans for tomorrow since it's a free day.” you admit, rolling off of Heeseungs back. He suddenly remembers the feeling of being able to breathe air normally and is grateful, but still is on his phone. Looking up, he sits down for a moment and catches your attention, “I’m going shopping and I think Jay is joining me. I wanted more clothes since I don’t really have anything that suits my style right now.” Nodding you turn to Sunno and unconsciously your head tilts as you ask, “What about you?”. He looks up and shrugs, “I don’t really have anything planned.” he admits. “We should do something.” you chirp, excited as you think about all the things you could do. Hearing a door creak, the three of your heads turn to the bathroom door where Jungwon stands in his pajamas, drying his hair with a towel. You smile and pat the bed space next to you, “What’re you guys talking about?” he asks while sitting down next to you. “We're trying to make plans for tomorrow, are you doing anything?” Sunno replies while stretching. “Oh, Niki and I are thinking about going to Universal Studios, do you guys want to come?” he asks, thinking that it would be something the two of you might enjoy. Your eyes widen, and you immediately hug him, “Hell yeah I will, thank you.” Turning to Sunoo for confirmation, “You’re coming too right?” he nods and you smile. “I'm gonna go to bed then, wake me up an hour before it’s time to leave.” you state while blowing them an air kiss and waving goodbye as you head back to your own room. 

Entering your room you practically skip to your luggage to pick your outfit for tomorrow. You would need something comfortable because you would be doing a lot of walking, but you still wanted to be fashionable. Sorting through your clothes you settled on a cute babydoll style top with one of your favorite pairs of jeans, knowing it would be warm during the day and cool in the evening. Setting a cute pair of sneakers to the side of your outfit, you nodded to yourself before putting together accessories you would wear with it before getting a small purse ready for tomorrow with your essentials. 

After taking a shower, you were sitting at the desk in your room blow drying your hair when you heard a knock on the door. Switching the blow dryer off you head over to the door, peeking through the peephole to see Jay standing there with his hand on his hip as he waits. “What brings you over here?” you ask as you opened the door and motioned for him to come in. “I heard you’re going to Universal Studios tomorrow so I came to give you this.” he explains, handing you a power bank. “Because your phone is always dying and you get lost too often.” he semi-scolds you as he checks out your room. You smile as you thank him and pull him into a half hug before putting the bank into your bag. “Don’t tell me you’re going to sleep with your hair wet.” he sighs, prepared to give you a scolding. “No, you caught me in the middle of blow drying my hair.” you laugh, pointing to the desk where your blow dryer lied. “Here, sit down.” he motions you over to the chair as he grabs your brush. Sitting down you looked at him through the mirror in front of you, analyzing him as he grabbed the blow dryer and switched it on. Looking at him fondly through the mirror you smiled unconsciously as he focused on blow drying your hair for you, sectioning it and brushing it. “What’s that smile for?” he asked, raising a brow at you as he caught you smiling in the mirror. You laugh lightly and bring your hand to your chin, “Just appreciating you is all.” you admit as he blows cold air into your face for a moment, causing you to laugh. 

When he finished doing your hair, you convinced him to stay a little longer to do face masks together. The both of you were laying on your bed in the dark as you had your laptop open with a movie playing. Watching the movie and chatting together for almost an hour, you eventually fell asleep. Jay noticed when you slumped over and your snores started to fill the room. Chuckling softly to himself he carefully gets out of the bed, shutting your laptop before setting it on the nightstand next to him. Rubbing his eyes he yawns, drowsiness hitting him as he makes sure everything is set for you to sleep peacefully. Checking on you one last time, he fixes the pillows around you, and pulls the blanket over you to tuck you in. Gently moving stray strands of hair from your face, he whispers a goodnight before leaving back to his own room, knowing that he should get some rest if he’s going to go out shopping tomorrow. 

Snoring quite loudly, you were knocked out as you cuddled into the pillows next to you. The blankets were half on you and half on the floor as you slept peacefully. In the room next door, Jungwon was barely functioning as his alarm woke him up. He laid in bed and stared at the ceiling for a solid 5 minutes before rolling out of bed, knowing they had to get ready. He stretched as he walked to the bathroom, finishing his business before waking up Sunoo. Sunoo was trying to wake himself up more by scrolling through his phone for a bit. “I’m gonna go make sure Niki and Y/n are awake.” he told Sunoo before heading over to Jake and Niki’s room. He knocks on the door and waits for a moment before hearing someone come to the door. Niki slowly opens the door, eyes half open and hair a mess. Staring at each other for a moment, they just laugh at each other’s freshly awoken looks. “Just wanted to make sure you’re awake, I’m about to go wake Y/n” Jungwon explains, ready to walk away before Niki stops him. “Wait, I still have her key from yesterday. I’ll go with you to wake her up.” Niki rushes as he puts on a shirt to help Jungwon, knowing that you were difficult to wake up. 

Heading over to your room, they knock first to be polite. Looking at each other knowingly, they could already tell that you weren’t awake. Niki slips out the key from his pocket and uses it to open the door. The two boys walked in slowly, but after hearing your snores they knew they were in the clear. Niki laughs as he finds the state you’re in before pulling out his phone to take unflattering pictures of you as you slept. Jungwon laughs lightly at the younger one’s antics before he attempts to wake you up. “Y/n” he speaks sternly, watching to see if you would begin to stir. Your snores stop for a moment, the two looking at each other in surprise. Though, they were quickly disappointed when you began snoring again, they should’ve known that it wouldn’t be that easy. Sighing, Jungwon begins to push your shoulder lightly, “Y/n, it's time for you to wake up.” The both of them stare at you for another moment before you softly spoke, “Five more minutes.” Niki giggles slightly as he knew that you would try your best to go back to sleep. Jungwon shakes his head lightly before nodding his head to Niki slightly, signaling to him that it’s his turn to try. Nodding, he rubs his hands together before leaping onto the bed, jumping right on you. 

Groaning at the sudden feeling of being crushed, you open your eyes to see Niki above you. “Wake up, we got places to be!” he excitedly shouted. You groaned, pushing his face away hoping he would leave you alone. “10 more minutes.” you whispered, almost snoring again. Niki’s smile drops from his face and he looks back at Jungwon who just laughs at how defeated he looks. Niki turns back to you and gets another idea. Laying next to you, he begins to roll his body over yours to the space next to you, before rolling back the other direction. He repeatedly does this to bother you, knowing you would wake up from him. Sitting up you groan, “Nikiiiiiiiii, I’m tired.” you pout, still sleepy. “Sleep can wait, you need to get ready so we can go to Universal.” he spoke sternly, hoping that you would stay awake. Your ears perked and your back straightened as your eyes widened in excitement. You raise your hand to give him a high five, “Yeah lets go! Let me get ready.” you claimed as you practically jumped out of bed, suddenly energized. As they go to exit your room you turn around quickly, “How did you guys get in here?” you questioned with a raised brow, not remembering giving your key to anyone. Niki bolts out of the room with Jungwon in tow and you sigh at their antics. 

You quickly got ready since everything was prepared the night before. Grabbing everything you needed, you headed over to knock on Jungwon’s door. As soon as you approached though, Jungwon, Sunoo, and Heeseung were already coming out the door. “Morning” you smiled at them, already excited for the day. Sunoo complimented your outfit quickly before Heeseung said they were going down to the lobby to meet everyone else for breakfast. Nodding you all headed down to the lobby to see Niki, Jake, and Sunghoon talking as Jay was ordering food for everyone. Sitting down in front of Sunghoon, the others sit next to you as everyone waits for breakfast. Jay sits next to Sunghoon, in front of Sunoo who is next to you and greets everyone. 

You’re chatting with Sunoo, talking about how the both of you want to try and go on all the rides at Universal Studios. “We definitely need to go to the Jurassic World one. Maybe we should start at the bottom and work our way up, we might beat the lines.” you discuss, trying to think of what is the best way about going around the park. Sunoo nods while googling what rides they have and cool photo spots. “Oh you’re going to Universal Studios too?” Sunhoon chirps in, asking both you and Sunoo. You both smile and nod, “Yeah, we thought it would be fun.” you explain as he begins to hand you something. “Here, you’ll probably need these since the sun bothers you.” he explains as he hands you a pair of sunglasses that he had on his head. “Thank you!” you exclaim, taking them and putting them atop your head, not telling him that you actually already had a pair in your bag. You loved being spoiled, especially since they often tease you. Sunoo pouts playfully at Sunghoon, “What about me hyung? Are you gonna give me a pair too?” he asks as Jay laughs at the scene unfolding before him, Heeseung also glancing over. “Hey, you’re older. You should know what you need or not.” Sunghoon teases Sunoo to which he scoffs at him. Everyone laughed at the scene before getting excited that the food arrived. 

When everyone is done with their breakfast You, Niki, Jungwon, and Sunoo bid the rest of the members goodbye. Heading to a van that the staff prepared for you, you walk side by side with Niki before sitting next to each other. Honestly, the two of you were somewhat nerds. Sometimes the others would tease, but the both of you always understood each other. “I’m totally gonna get a robe and wand when we get there.” you giggled, just thinking about your childhood fantasies that were about to come true. “I was gonna do the same thing!” he chimed, grabbing your hand as the both of you giggled with each other. Jungwon occasionally was looking back at the two of you, making sure everything was orderly and occasionally just listening in on your conversation. Sunno, next to Jungwon, was taking a nap with his headphones in during the car ride. As you and Niki calmed down after talking about all the cool things they would have, you stretched out your arm, trying to take a picture of the sleeping Sunoo. Niki giggles as you snap some pictures and Jungwon just shakes his head as he knew sleeping around the two of you was a bad idea. “We should probably take a nap until we get there, we’ll walk a lot.” you admit, thinking about conserving your energy. Niki agrees and the two of you doze off to sleep. Unknown to the both of you, Jungwon snaps a picture of you both, your head on Niki’s arm snoring lightly, and Niki’s head against the tinted window. He laughs before trying to take a nap himself. 

“No, way…” you stare in awe at the Universal Studios spinning globe. This was definitely a ‘you made it moment’ for you. Hitting Niki’s arm lightly in excitement, you point to it, “We all need a picture there now!” marveled, excited that you all were finally here. “Yah, calm down.” Sunoo giggled, finding your excitement amusing as you dragged the three of them to take a photo. Standing between Sunno and Jungwon, you put on the shades Sunghoon gave you and hold up peace signs. Once the four of you were finished, you were finally heading towards the gates. Scanning your tickets, the four of you went in smoothly and immediately were in front of the main store. Running inside, Niki follows behind as Jungwon and Sunoo take their time following the two of you as they chat. Niki stares at a wall full of The Simpsons plushies, “I’m going to buy all of this.” he motions, a look of awe on his face. “OH MY GOD LOOK!!! FROM THE MINIONS!!” you exclaimed, holding up a plushie backpack from the movie. “I’m buying this.” you gushed before your eyes wandered elsewhere. “Niki look!” you pointed excitedly to another section of the store where it was purely filled with Harry Potter merch. The two of you quickly searched the area for the cloaks you two were talking about earlier. Seeing a wall full of them, your mouth dropped and you immediately went to try a slytherin one on. Niki follows in suit and the both of you are laughing as you put on the hood. Seeing Jungwon and Sunoo in the corner of your eye you wave at them and call them over. “You two should get one with us.” you beamed while Niki agreed. “Only if you get these with me.” Jungwon bargained, holding up a pair of minion goggles. You laughed before shaking hands with him as he handed you a pair. Niki is already on the search for a gryffindor robe for Jungwon. “Sunoo, you’re definitely a ravenclaw.” you spoke as you handed him a robe to try. “How does it look?” he questions as he checks himself out in the mirror, fixing his hair before pulling out his phone to take a quick picture. “You know you always look good.” you playfully roll your eyes at him before posing behind him to photobomb him. 

Honestly, that store was dangerous. You’ve barely gone into the park and already you spent half of the money you set aside for today on a robe, wand, backpack, and goggles. As the four of you head farther into the park your eyes caught the hogwarts castle in the wizarding world area. Mouth agape you were stunted to see how the castle looked in person. Already agreeing with the others that you would head there last, you had to contain your excitement for the area later. Having already shoved everything you bought into the unicorn backpack, you were following the boys around as they stopped to play the games they had in the Simpson’s area. You and Sunoo were laughing at Jungwon and NIki who were playing the games. Recording Jungwon as he threw basketballs, you and Sunoo were practically red from laughing as he threw them. Never had you seen anyone throw them the way he does. As the two of them collected their prizes you all headed down the escalators, deciding you would all get on the Transformers ride first. 

You were more excited about Jurrassic world and the Mummy ride at the lower level, so you thought it would be best to try out the Transformer one first. As you all walked through the line, you were taking pictures of all the artifacts and cool designs on the line. It was amazing how much detail they went into to replicate the movies into the line before the ride. As you all approached the front you all took a quick picture together, posing in the 3d glasses that they gave you. When the car vehicle looking thing approached, you all slid into the row and pulled down on the lap bar. Throughout the ride, all of you were laughing and having a good time as the ride tossed the four of you around. It was honestly such a cool experience, and one of the best 3D rides you’ve gone on. Exiting the transformers area huddled on over to the Jurassic world ride. Waiting in the semi-long line, the four of you were playing games with each other. You downloaded charades and the four of you were laughing when occasionally a member would hilariously act out the wrong thing. “Here, let's take a picture.” you motion to your members as you get closer and closer to the front of the line Agreeing, they all gather next to you, Niki standing behind you, his height allowing him to still be seen, Jungwon to your left, and Sunoo to your right. Your low-key security begins to snap pictures as you guys pose, hearts, dinosaur attempted hands, and one where you and Niki were pretending to be dinosaurs biting Jungwon and Sunoo. After your photo op session, you were laughing as you looked through the pictures, putting your phone to charge as you noticed your battery was low. “Is that Jay’s power bank?” you hear behind you, causing you to freeze. 

Waiting for the boat looking vehicle, you guys played rock, paper, scissors to decide who would sit with who. Niki and Sunoo win, meaning you sat right between them. Jungwon sits beside Sunoo, and he’s playfully teasing Sunoo as the ride begins. As the ride takes you up, you look at Niki, thinking that already there would be an enormous drop. Niki just laughs at your reaction as you grab onto him and Sunoo. The ride goes over the hill and only does a small drop as the Jurassic park theme song plays and your face blooms in a red hue from embarrassment. Niki pokes your side in a playful manner, finding it funny how easily embarrassed you were. Heading towards this large tank looking area, the four of you looked in awe at the large dinosaur that swam. Entranced, you found it amazing how they were able to do something like this. As it swam, water was sprayed from the top of the tank, soaking you and Niki along with everyone else who sat on the left side of the boat in the rows behind you. Mouth agape in shock, you wipe the water off your face and Sunoo bursts out laughing at the both of you. Niki was gagged and was running his hand through his hair in an attempt to tame it. The ride continued and before entering a building, two small dinosaurs appeared and sprayed water at everyone on the right side of the ride, including Jungwon and Sunoo. Laughing at their facial expressions, you and Niki high fived each other. The boat took you all higher, and you were gripping onto the bar that held you down. Yes, you liked thrilling rides, but that didn’t mean that your stomach didn’t drop. The ride’s alarms blared, as it replicated the feel of escaped dinosaurs, and your heart raced in excitement. Your eyes scanned the area, taking in all the details they put into the ride. Interrupted by a loud roar, everyone looked up and screamed as the marge dinosaur from the movie was above you all in the ceiling, seemingly attempting to lower itself to reach you guys. Gripping the bar even tighter, Niki leans into you as you lean into Sunoo in some strange attempt to escape the dinosaur. Immediately, the ride leads to the large drop, and everyone is screaming as the boat plummets towards the large pool area. Grabbing each other, the four of you scream in excitement as you’re all splashed by the water. 

Laughing as you all got off the ride, you were grateful that the ride was saving you from the heat. Messing with some of the merchandise, you all decided to rush to the mummy ride and get lockers to put your items in. Shoving your giant unicorn backpack into the locker, you all finally get into line. It’s fairly short and you’re already inside, chatting with each other. Turning at a corner, there is this small hole in the wall that people were sticking their arms into earlier. “Hey, you should do it.” you sang out, patting Sunoos back as you motion to the hole. “No, absolutely not. I don’t know what's in there.” he shakes his head in reply. “Hyung, you can do it, please?” Niki and Jungwon chime in, in an attempt to convince him. Sighing he gives in, “Ok..” he straightens his shoulders slightly, preparing to stick his arm in. Jungwon immediately pulls out his phone and begins to record waiting to see how things would play out. As he sticks his arm in, he reaches to the back, crouching slightly to reach all the way. Feeling a sudden and loud puff of air he screeches and pulls his arm back immediately. Embarrassed at how loud he screeched, he brought his hand to his mouth and quickly tried to hide behind Niki who was in front of him. The three of you were laughing, not expecting him to react so loudly. Patting Sunoos back you comfort him as you continue to giggle. Jungwon ended up sending the video to a shared group chat between all the members as you all got closer to the front of the line.

Resorting to another game to decide who would sit next to who, you were in between Jungwon and Niki as Sunoo sat on Niki’s other side. Staff ensured that the bars were locked in place and the ride began. Jungwon was cheering, excited for the ride, “Let’s go!!”. You laughed and followed in suit, copying him before the ride took you all into another room with a bunch of mummies. It was honestly really cool and exciting. As it showed a guy getting ganged up on by bugs, you screeched feeling something touching your ankles and did your best trying to lift your feet from the ground. The others reacted similarly, not expecting something like that to happen. You and Jungwon were holding hands as the ride continued, as he brought you comfort. The ride stopped suddenly before shooting across at high speeds. Suddenly it was a roller coaster with all these twists and turns and the four of you were screaming with excitement. Still holding onto Jungwon’s hand, you bring your free one up into the air and scream in joy. The roller coaster slowly comes to a stop and you think the ride is about to be over before it suddenly goes backwards even faster. You bring one hand to grip the bar that's holding you down as you continue screaming, Sunoo doing the same. As the ride comes to a stop and you get out of the seats, you guys are talking about how you all enjoyed the ride. Grabbing your things from the lockers you all head up to the higher level where the other attractions were. 

You all were chatting, trying to see what you guys wanted to do next before deciding to try the Hollywood tram. Heading over, you all chilled in line and were looking back at the photos you’ve taken throughout the day. Putting your unicorn backpack on your chest, you handed Sunoo your phone and convinced him to take pictures of you. He was laughing at all the poses you were doing since you weren’t trying to be serious, and Jungwon joined you. Both of you put on your minion goggles and were hugging as you pretended to be minions. Calming down, you all got to chatting, “Do you guys know what Sunghoon and Jake are doing today?” you ask, not remembering whether or not you knew of their plans. Niki couldn’t take you seriously with your minion goggles and just kept shaking his head at the ground as he laughed. “I think they were going to go out shopping, but not with Heesung and Jay.” Sunoo tried to recall his conversations with them. “Sunghoon probably won’t buy anything, he’s too indecisive.” you sigh out, remembering the sunglasses he let you use earlier. “Jay is also probably treating Heeseung to a feast.” you laugh at the thought while the others agree with you. Checking your phone, you open a message seeing a selfie that Heeseung took of himself and Jay. Liking the photo in the chat you send one of yourself in your minion goggles, making duck lips as you look down at the camera, holding up a peace sign. Waiting on the phone for a bit, you smile as you see another message roll in, a selfie of Jake and Sunhoon as they shop. ‘Think of me as you shop 😙’ you send to the chat playfully before closing out and continuing to chat with the others. 

Exiting the tram area, you all were briefly talking about which parts were your favorite. Your’s was the subway disaster one, while the boys were trying to figure out which one they liked the most. “Okay, let's go to the Harry Potter area.” Jungwon announced, clapping his hands as he pointed to the area. “Yes!” you jumped as you cheered, quickly walking on to the area. Niki was just as excited, and out of your backpack you were grabbing the robe and wand you bought earlier. Standing in the front of the wizarding world section, you all were wearing your robes and you put away your minion goggles into your backpack for now. Although you looked a little silly with a unicorn backpack on top of your slytherin robe, you were happy in the presence of your members. Immediately, you all wandered over to a stand where they were selling butterbeer. Slapping the arm of the member next to you, you pointed to the stand, “They have butterbeer!” you exclaimed while shaking Niki. He smiles and lightly patted you back in excitement. “We should probably eat first, then we can ride the rides after.” Jungwon spoke, interrupting your train of thought. Agreeing you all head inside to the restaurant they had and ordered a large family meal to share. Sitting down, you all were talking before you each dug into your food. Once you were done, you all had quickly ordered some butterbeer to try, you and Sunoo got a frozen one since it was warm out while Jungwon and Niki got the regular one. Taking pictures before you all tried it, you each looked at each other to see what the others thought before laughing, seeing how you all had a white foam mustache above your lip. Taking another picture of everyone you admit to the others, “I think it’s a bit too sweet but I’m still gonna drink this.” Sunoo nods, agreeing with you as he tries another sip out of his cup. “This is definitely gonna hit hard later.” Jungwon sighs out, making Niki burst out laughing before you all head over to the main harry potter ride. 

Standing in line, you and Niki were geeking out over the details they put into the castle and the line itself. You both were taking pictures of everything, not knowing that Jungwon was secretly taking pictures of you both to the group chat teasing you both. As you guys got closer to the front of the line, you entered a room full of talking paintings. Everyone in the room was amazed and everyone took the chance to record or take pictures of them. Feeling playful you turned to Niki in an attempt to get a compliment or sweet remark for him, “If I was a talking painting, would I be your favorite?” He let out a sigh before turning to you with a dead serious look, “I’d probably get rid of you in a yard sale.” Mouth agape you slapped his back lightly, “Hey!” you whisper yelled as the others laughed at your antics. “It’s okay Y/n, I’d buy you with my pocket money.” Jungwon smirks as he pulls out 8 cents from his pocket. Crossing your arms you let out a sigh, “This is borderline bullying. This is why Sunoo is my favorite.” you retorted, linking arms with Sunoo as you cling onto him, making everyone laugh. Approaching the front of the line you all played another game to decide where you sat. You sat at the very edge next to Niki who was seated next to Jungwon. In the rectangle shaped vehicle thing, you were hanging onto the handles on the bar that held you down. As you were all lifted up into the air you all yelped, Sunoo’s the loudest causing you to laugh as you tried to look at the other members, but the bar prevented you from doing so. Niki noticed and instead grabbed your hand as a way to make you feel more secure. Thankful, you squeezed his as the ride continued. You were in awe as you saw the different details of the movie, especially the dragon since they were your favorite mythical creatures. The ride flipped you all upside down, swung you side to side and took you through exciting parts of the ride. Entering a dark room you screeched as giant spiders jumpscared you all, and continued to do so as you saw a bunch of dementors. Eventually, the ride came to an end and you all were laughing as you were talking about each other’s reactions to certain parts of the ride. Entering another gift shop, you all decided to look around. Seeing a bunch of pygmy puff plushies, you secretly grabbed a bunch before heading to the register. Buying one for yourself and one for each members, you shoved them into your backpack to surprise them later. 

Having had fun in the wizarding world section, you had all spent quite some time using your interactive wands and re-riding some rides. Yawning softly, you began to nuzzle into the harry potter scarf you bought to complete your look. Jungwon notices the sleepy loon in everyone's eyes and takes initiative, “Since we rode everything, why don’t we head back to the hotel and meet up with the others.” Agreeing, you all headed out of the park and realized just how tired you all were. As you all piled into the car, you immediately used your scarf as a neck pillow and cuddled into Jungwon who sat next to you this time as he gave Niki his seat to give him more leg room. Falling asleep almost immediately, you snored lightly as Jungwon placed a hand on your head, rubbing it gently as he scrolled through his phone. He eventually gave in to his drowsiness and leaned his head on top of yours, phone falling into his lap. Everyone was asleep and one of the staff decided to snap a quick picture, seeing that it would be a cute one to include if this day were to be turned into a vlog. 

Back at the hotel, you all headed back to your rooms to freshen up before meeting again before dinner. You had showered and were in some lounge clothes before you all met in Jay and Sunhoons room since the food was delivered there. Sitting at a table that was in the room you all enjoyed the meal, and all chatted about what you did throughout the day. Jungwon was revealing all the funny stories about what you guys did today and Jake was talking about what he bought today. Heeseung chimed in laughing, talking about how Jay was trying on a bunch of cowboy hats and set everyone laughing. “I really wanted one but my head is too big.” he ranted, while pointing to different parts of his head. Calming down you reached down to the bag you brought into the room, “I bought you all something. So you all have something to remind you of me, cause I know you missed me so much.” You joked as you grabbed into the bag and pulled out the pygmy puff plushies you bought earlier. Immediately Sunghoon started laughing at the small creature thing and the others were shaking their heads at the small creature. Jake holds his up to your face before laughing, “It looks just like you.” he claims, making the others laugh. “Yeah, I’ll always see your face when I look at this.” Heeseing chirps in, tossing it up lightly and catching it. Pouting at them playfully, you sit back down to finish your drink as the others play with their plushies, Sunoo taking selfies with his. 

As you laid down in your bed ready to go to sleep, you heard a knock at your door. Getting up, you peeked through the peep-hole before opening the door for Jake. “What brings you over here? Did you miss me already?” you joked, crossing your arms as you leaned against the door frame. He laughed, “No, I have that plushie to deal with that. I actually came to give you this.” he hands over a flower shaped keychain thing. “Idk what it's supposed to be for but you can tie it on your jeans, a bag, or use it as a keychain.” he stated, as he put his hands into his pocket. “Thank you, you didn't need to.” you smile, happy at the fact he thought of you earlier. “I wanted to, now go to sleep. We got a long day tomorrow.” he commanded playfully, pointing a finger at you. You playfully saluted in response, “Yes sir.” He chuckled before heading back to his room, you were about to close the door before Jay startled you. “Oh my god where did you come from?” you gasped, holding your chest. He laughed at you before handing you a small box, “This door makes a blind spot Anyways I got this for you earlier since you’ve been talking about it recently.” he explains, waiting for you to open the box. Opening it, your eyes widen at the sight of a necklace with a pendant of your first name initial. Looking back up to him you bring him in for a hug, “This one is like yours. Oh my god thank you Jay, this is so sweet.” you thank him, looking back at the necklace. The both of you enter the room and you stand in front of a mirror, “Put it on please?” he nods as you move your hair and he works to place it on you properly. “We’re kinda matching since I have one that is similar.” he noted as he looked at it through the mirror. “Thank you Jay, really. You spoil me too much.” you say as you admire the necklace. He sighs out, “I know, I really gotta stop.” You playfully glare at him, making him laugh as he begins to braid your hair unconsciously. He was always taking care of you. Handing him a scrunchie to tie off the end of the braid, you patted your shoulders before he sent you off to bed. You laid down and prepared to sleep as he turned off the lights for you, “Goodnight.” he called quietly. “Goodnight.” you chirped back as you heard the door close, drifting into your much needed sleep.

I hope I did a good job at making this interesting, I think this is my longest post yet. Honestly I'm getting a bit better at using tumblr, but shout out to everyone who has amazing looking posts.

Something I find interesting, especially since the Guardian Dragon (at least, in the trailer) looks so much like a source dragon, is that Kai, in the Fire Mech set, is wielding a sword that looks like this.

I immediately recognized that sword piece as the same mold as the sword that Lloyd has in the Rontu set.

Which I'm pretty sure is supposed to be the Icon that Motion gave him.

It doesn't look the exact same but Ras' hammer/the Icon of Strength doesn't look the same in the sets he's in either.

In this post I made, I mentioned in the tags that source dragons don't often appear for mortals and I guessed that maybe Kai found an Icon and used it. This sword that he has in the fire mech set seems to support that, although the sets aren't exactly 100% reliable when it comes to what's going to be in the actual content of the series. (Wu and Jay having noncanon minifigs, Motion's set having a saddle with the Gong of Shattering on it, Sora having a spinjitzu spinner when she hasn't learned it yet, etc)

I still think that this is really interesting to consider, though. If the Guardian Dragon is the source dragon that died, then what happened?

Summary: Jason doesn't usually come to family game night. Family dinners are bad enough, having to sit in a room with his family and try not to blow up at any of them for one thing or another. But family game nights, Jason has heard, is twenty times worse. At dinner he can avoid talking if need be, avoid interacting with his chaotic family members. But game nights are all about bonding and interacting. And that interaction can be unpredictable.

So no, Jason doesn't usually go to family game nights. And he would have kept not going, if it wasn't for the tag-team duo that is Dick "Puppy-Dog-Eyes" Grayson and Tim "You-Owe-Me-For-Trying-To-Kill-Me" Drake.

Jason knows he's gonna regret this.

AN: I used all three prompts! (the choice is what game they play, OK. It counts). I'm kinda happy with this one, so I hope y'all enjoy.

Day 2: Choices | Panic Attack | Family Game Night

"So what game do we wanna play this month?" Tim stands in front of a whiteboard, the nerd that he is, with a pointing stick in one hand and marker in the other. "Remember, Monopoly and Uno are banned for another 3 months."

"Maybe we should let Jason pick, since it's his first game night?" Duke pipes up from the recliner he's sitting on.

"Yeah, no thanks. Bad enough I'm here, I'd rather not pick my torture too. Just wanna get this over with."

"Oh, don't be so grouchy, Jason." Tim rolls his eyes. "Anyone else have suggestions?"

"What about Clue?" Steph asks.

"Tt, that farce of a game is child's play." Damian snarks.

Dick starts bouncing on his toes, raising his hand as he does. "Ooh ooh, Twister! My vote is Twister!"

"Oh course you want to play Twister. You always win." Tim deadpans.

"But we've never played with Jay before. He's a lot more flexible than he looks. I wanna see if he can beat me. I don't think he can, but it'd be interesting to see."

"'Don't think I can' my ass, Dickhead! Bring out the game, we'll see who's more fucking flexible." It's only after he finishes that he sees Dick's smirk. Bastard goaded him. It's fucking on.

It doesn't take long for Jason to regret taking Dick's taunt. It's not that he's losing, in fact he's doing fairly well thank you very much. But, Jason is not known to be a tactile person. He avoids Dick's hugs like the plague, and steps away from any attempts at causal contact from the others. So a game based around being tangled around other people is definitely not Jason's cup of tea.

His arm tingles from where it brushes against Duke's ankle. His leg is being uncomfortably tickled by Tim's hair. His back is searing from where Dick leans over him to reach a spot on Jason's other side.

Every part of his body is being touched someway or another and it itches itches itches. He's too hot, the body heat around him burns him. His breath picks up, not just from the exertion of holding himself steady.

"Jason. Left foot, red." Cass calls out from her spot on the side, Jason barely hearing her over the pounding in his ears. Jason is jealous of her. She had the right idea when she opted to be the spinner instead of playing. Although, it's not like the others would have let him sit out of the 'fun'.

Jason cranes his neck as much as he can in his precarious position. Red is all the way on the other side of the mat from where his foot is currently situated. It's not impossible for him to make the reach. In fact, any other day it would have been no issue at all. But every slight adjustment brushes a new body part onto a different family member. His skin itches, his body burns, his ears pound, and-

His foot slips.

The pile of Robins collapses. Suddenly, it's not just a light touch here and there, not just a little itch or burn, it's pressure on all sides everything caving on top of him he can't breath can't escape oh God not again he can't be trapped again someone save him please he's alive he shouldn't be here he can't breath he cant breath he cant BREATH.

"-son!"

"Shit, what do we-"

"What happ-"

"uys, back u-"

The pressure dissipates around him. Even so, Jason's breathing doesn't slow. His eyes are wide, but he can't see. There's no light in a coffin, after all. Oh God, he's in his coffin. Again. How did he get here? Why is he here? What-

"Breathe with me, Jason. In" The sound of a slow inhale hits Jason's ears. "Out." An exhale follows.

Jason knows there shouldn't be anyone speaking to him while he's in his coffin. It should be silence, silence and darkness and walls on all sides and-

"In." Another inhale. "Out" An exhale.

But it isn't silent. There's a persistent voice, a barrage of "in"'s and "out"'s that doesn't stop, doesn't waver. The voice is… familiar. He knows this voice. Right? Should he listen to it? Should he trust it?

"In." Inhale. "Out" Exhale.

It has to be better than the silence. Even if the voice is just in his head, even if it's just until he gets his own breathing in check, anything is better than the deafening silence of the supposed dead.

"In." Inhale. There it is again. Jason tries to take in a hitched breath in time with the inhale. It's not nearly as long or steady, but it's something. "Out" Exhale. A shaky exhale leaves his own lips.

"In." Inhale. A longer breath in. "Out" Exhale. A steadier breath out.

"In." Two synchronized inhales. "Out" Two synchronized exhales.

They continue, the voice eventually ceasing the requests of "in" and "out" in favor of just breathing in time with Jason. Eventually, the voice speaks up again.

"That's good Jason. Just keep breathing like that. Now, I need you to answer something for me, okay?" Jason nods absentmindedly. "Good. Okay, first. Can you tell me five things you see?"

What can he see? His eyes are unfocused, but he remembers the coffin. He remembers the feeling of being encased underground and how it was-

"-dark. So dark. Can't see. Jus' walls and the lid and it's all dark why are ya asking me what I can see? I can'tsee anything, there's nothi-"

"Shit, shit. Ok, I'm going to touch you Jason, okay? You're okay, I promise, it's just me. I'm not going to hurt you." A light touch on Jason's chin causes him to flinch, but he doesn't pull away. It's not the wood that's all around him, it's new and different and not supposed to be here. It's soft and gentle and it tilts his head slightly. "There we go. Just look at me. Tell me what you see, Jay. You can do it."

Blue. Jason sees blue eyes staring back at him. Why are there eyes in a coffin? There should be no one here but him.

"Come on, Jay. I can't read your mind. Tell me what you see."

"Bl…" Jason's voice is hoarse. He swallows. "Blue. Eyes." If there are eyes, surely there is more. Surely there is something connected to those eyes. His own eyes roam and he starts listing what he sees as he sees it. "Bla… black hair. A face." It's… Tim's face? A beat as Jason finally places where he recognizes the voice from. "Your face."

"There you are, Jay. Keep it up. Two more things."

Ok. Jason can do this.

"Yo…your mouth. Its moving with your words. I can see that." What else, what else? "And… and…is that broccoli stuck in your teeth?" Jason focuses on that little green mark surrounded by white teeth, as if it alone can save him from this nightmare. Jason hears a snort, the sound distant and unimportant as he takes in the sight of his little brother in front of him.

Tim lets out the tiniest sound at Jason's words, making an aborted motion to block his mouth. "Never-mind the broccoli, Jay. You did so well. Now, can you tell me four things you feel?"

"Your hand on my face." The response is immediate. Jason breaks his gaze away from the broccoli and down to his own hands, where they lay beside him. Instead of the smooth wood of the coffin he expects to feel as he digs his nails in, he feels- "Carpet. It's soft. It's not ripping my nails when I scrape my fingers on it like wood should. And… the air is moving. It's… air conditioning?"

There is no air conditioning in a coffin. The air should be stagnant and stiffling, and yet, a slight gust pushes a strand of hair into Jason's face. There is no air conditioning in a coffin. Nor is there carpet or voices or eyes or broccoli or…

Jason is not in his coffin.

"I feel my clothes on my skin. And my skin, it feels itchy. Why is it so itchy?"

"Just focus on me, Jay. It's okay, keep going. Now three things you hear."

"You." That one's a given. He's been hearing Tim since the beginning. When he thought he was in the coffin. What else can he hear, though? Is that… "Whispering." Who is whispering?

Jason glances behind Tim, who Jason can now see is kneeling beside Jason and the abandoned Twister mat, to where he can hear the whispers. Dick and Cass are huddled together, alone. The others must have left while Jason was… otherwise occupied.

Before, Jason might have been angry at the seeming lack of care for him from the others. Just leaving while he is clearly going through… something. His brain's still not functioning enough to self analyze his state. But right now he's glad for their absence. Too many people is what caused this whole thing to begin with.

Dick catches his gaze, giving Jason a reassuring smile when he sees that Jason's more lucid.

"Jason." Tim's voice calls him back. "Almost there. One more thing you can hear."

What else can he hear? "My heartbeat. Not as loud or pounding as before. But it's there."

"Okay, now two things you smell."

Jason takes a deep breath in. He can't help adding a bit of his signature snark, now that he's coming back to his senses as he smirks. "Your sweaty ass and the deodorant you're trying to hide it under."

"Well, he's feeling better." He hears Dick call. The sound of movement reaches his ears, but Tim puts his hand up.

"Not yet, Dick. He still needs some space. Now Jason. One more question. What's one thing you taste?"

Jason has never understood that question. When they were taught the exercise as a means of calming down victims, he always wanted to question this part. Most times Jason asks it, people don't know how to respond. Mouths taste like mouths when you're not actively eating. Just nothing, except the expected spit that you can't taste cause you're already used to it. How is one supposed to respond when the answer is nothing?

Except…

Jason licks his teeth. There is something.

"Alfred's buttercream." The aftertaste lingers in his mouth from dessert that night, stuck between his teeth like a snack squirreled away for later. The taste of his grandfather's baking relaxes the last bit of the tension Jason didn't realize was still in his muscles.

"That's good Jason." Tim gives him a soft smile. "How are you feeling?"

"Like shit." Jason knocks the itchy hand still on his chin away. He sits up slowly, ignoring any offers of help from Tim.

"That was a nasty attack, Jay. What happened?" Dick has made his way closer without Jason noticing. He still leaves enough space between them for Jason to not feel suffocated. Cass has disappeared completely.

"Doesn't matter right now, Dick." Tim responds before Jason can get words together. "Right now, we just need to help Jason feel better."

"I'm all better now, Timbo. I don't need anymore help. I'm just gonna head out for the night and go to bed."

"Oh no you don't." Dick retorts. "You're staying right here in the manor for the night and I don't want to hear another word about it."

"I'm with Dick, Jay. You're in no state to drive home."

"I'll be fine."

"I'm sure Alfred would claim otherwise if I asked him."

Jason narrows his eyes at Tim. "You wouldn't."

"Try me."

"Come oooooon." Dick whines. "Just stay the night. We can even have a movie night, instead of game night. Would that be better?"

Jason sighs. "I'm not getting out of this, am I?"

"Nope!"

"Not a chance."

Later on, Jason finds himself sitting on a lone couch in a dim room. There's light coming from the giant screen in front of him, illuminating the pile of siblings cuddled together amidst pillows and blankets on the floor. The movie playing is one of Jason's favorites, that they had to pry out of him when asking him to pick the movie. The siblings on the floor whisper to each other as it plays, sometimes pointing in front of them to pick something out on the screen. Often, they'll turn back to Jason to ask him a question, be it about the movie itself or the book it's based on that they just know Jason's read. It's… nice.

Jason may not be a part of the group's nest of pillows and blankets, but it doesn't bother him. They can get their fill of cuddles and hugs from each other, and Jason's fine watching the movie with them from over here in his own little bubble. He's still here. He's still involved.

He's still family.

Fun fact. The first time I had a panic attack, the person who helped me didn't do the usual 5 things you see 4 you feel etc. Instead, she'd pick a color and have me look around to find something of that color. Then pick another color rinse and repeat. And the best part of it was even after she had to go, I could do the exercise by myself. I would just go through the rainbow and find things in the room of each color.

Anyway I hope y'all enjoyed. Unless I'm able to bang out another fic, then I don't have any more fics until Saturday for this week. I had some ideas for tomorrow's prompts but I never got around to actually writing any. So if I don't see y'all sooner, I'll see y'all Saturday.

with lights blazing, music thumping, and laughter resonating off the walls, the party is in full swing. you find yourself settling in a corner with your group of friends, attempting to unwind following a stressful week.

sipping a cup of beer across the room was sunghoon. his friends had eventually forced him to go, even though he had refused knowing you would be there.

“still can’t keep your eyes off her, huh?” jay teased.

sunghoon rolled his eyes. “i have no idea what you’re talking about”

“he’s not wrong. you’re staring hard” jake added.

sunghoon stands up, “i think you two are out of your heads. i’m gonna get myself something to drink”

coincidentally, you and sunghoon found yourselves heading in the same direction; towards the makeshift bar found on the kitchen island.

“great, it’s you again.” you muttered under your breath. “definitely what i needed.”

“here to ruin my night?” sunghoon shot back, his lips curling into a small smirk, unknowingly.

“only if you insist on standing in my way”, you retorted, giving him a slight shove.

“ladies first,” he said, stepping aside. he watches as you pour yourself a drink. “what is that godawful concoction you’re making?”

leaning towards the counter, you rolled your eyes. “something that will hopefully help me forget this conversation.”

sunghoon scoff, leaning on the counter next to you. “care to make me one too?”

“do i look like your bartender?” you retort.

you watch as sunghoon reach through the assortment of bottles spread across the table. if he wasn’t so distracted by how good you look right now, maybe he would’ve paid attention and remembered the bottles you used. before he could even continue, you swat his hand away, doing it yourself. swiftly mixing different kinds of liquor, you create a replica of what you have in your cup, a red drink.

“not bad,” he admitted

“didn’t know you had a taste for poison” you said sarcastically.

“guess i built up a tolerance after being around you” he said, matching your sarcasm.

“that’s potent stuff,” you warn, leaning closer. you didn’t know if it was gin, tequila or rum but whatever it is, it’s giving you courage to lean this close to him. “wouldn’t want you passing out before the fun starts.”

“oh don’t worry about me,” he replies, matching your closeness. “i’ve handled worse.”

“still nursing your hurt ego i see.” you say, moving away from his face.

with a raised eyebrow, he let out a scoff. “my ego is doing just fine, thanks. how’s your perpetual state of denial?”

“thriving, actually” you shot back, with a grin across your face. “thanks for asking.”

“anything new? besides that ‘hot date’ you had?” sunghoon quipped, making you roll your eyes.

“oh you know, the usual. classes, life, and avoiding exes at parties,” you snapped back, taking your drink up to your lips. “what about you? still trying to figure out how to be less annoying?”

“funny, i was just about to ask you the same thing,” he said, taking a sip of his drink.

clem and sunoo appear out of nowhere.

“YN, SUNGHOON, TWISTER!” sunoo exclaims, gently grabbing your wrist and sunghoon.

“oh i’m not gonna do this,” you protest, but clem is already pushing you towards the mat.

“one game! it’ll be fun! you’re my partner!” clem insists, shooting a look at sunghoon who seems equally hesitant. "please? sunoo and i have been lining up for this game." you find yourself unable to back out due to the peer pressure.

“alright… one round,” stepping onto the mat. sunghoon follows, his eyes scanning the twister mat. the spinner is set and the game begins.

“left hand, blue!” someone shouts. you and clem quickly place your hands on the blue spots, sunghoon and sunoo too. your competitive side flares up immediately.

“right foot, red!” “right hand, yellow!” “left foot, green!” …

the game progresses, and soon you find yourself in awkward and compromising positions. you twist your body to follow the calls. the mat becomes a tangled mess, and you find yourself uncomfortably close to sunghoon.

“left foot, blue!” someone calls out. soon enough, clem and sunoo struggle to keep up, losing balance, leaving you and sunghoon on the mat.

“right hand, green!” as you move, your arm grazes sunghoon’s chest, and you both freeze for a moment, faces dangerously close. you both made eye contact, and you notice a hint of blush creeping up his cheeks.

“you’re blushing” sunghoon points out, a smirk forming on his lips.

“it’s the alcohol,” you snap, breaking eye contact. you know it’s a lie which makes your face feel even hotter than it already was. at this point, you’re sure he can see through your facade.

“mhm, sure it is,” he says, his tone dripping with sarcasm.

the mat feels even smaller now, every move bringing you closer to him. “left hand, green!” you twist awkwardly, your body crossing over his. your face, mere inches apart from his, you can feel his breath on your skin.

“enjoying yourself?” he teases.

“not with you around.” trying to ignore him.

“right foot, yellow” you both move again. you two are so close to each other, you could see every single fleck of mole on his face.

“you look like you’re about to pass out,” he taunts, eyes flickering with amusement.

“screw you,” you whisper yelled, making your face flush even more.

“you wish,” he quipped.

the proximity is too much, you can practically feel his skin brush against yours. the air is thick with so much tension.

“right hand, blue!”

“if you weren’t such a jerk, this game would’ve been more fun” you mutter

“if you weren’t such a pain in the ass, i’d agree,” he snaps back.

the game continues, each move bringing you closer. you didn’t want to lose against him, and he didn’t want to lose against you. until the inevitable happens. in a tangle of limbs, sunghoon loses his balance. time seems to slow down as he topples forward, making you question yourself if you’re inside a fanfic. (you kinda are...) sunghoon lands on top of you, the weight of his body presses you down, and his face a few centimeters away from yours.

for a moment, everything stops. the whole party around you feels like a blur, the noise fading into the background, and all you can see is him. his eyes search yours, feeling his breath on your lips, so close that one move can leave the two of you exchanging kisses. your breath hitches, and you can see a similar reaction in his eyes. his gaze drops to your cherry wine lips, and you feel a surge of panic and something else– a feel of thrill?

sunghoon’s face flushes deepr, and you’re sure yours mirrors it. “are you seriously blushing right now?” you point out.

“the alcohol must’ve hit me a little late.” sunghoon pats himself on the back even after coming up with a lame excuse.

before you can respond, your brain FINALLY catches up with the whole situation. you’re lying on the floor, at a campus party, with sunghoon��� your ex, on top of you. your friends are likely watching the entire scene. you snap back to reality, shoving him away.

“get off,” you manage to say, your voice shaking.

as if coming out of a trance, sunghoon blinks, quickly rolling off you. he stands up and offers a hand to help you up, but you ignore it, standing up just fine on your own. you see the crowd around you exchanging glances, some had their hands covering their mouths, some giggling, but that didn’t bother you. you don’t even know who won the game, not like you could give two shits. all you can focus on is the lingering sensation of his body against yours and the loud thumping of your heart.

clem rushes over, eyes wide with shock. “oh my gosh?”

“let's not...” avoiding eye contact with your best friend.
