hi ghoul! those ai """writers""" are making me want to start writing fanfics and I was wondering if you had any advice for a brand new writer? (I feel so lost rn but I can't stand ai and I'm hoping the spite can shape me into a good writer with enough time) anywhos I love you and your fucked up yet very well constructed stories ❤️❤️

First of all spite is always a wonderful motivator so good for you.

Second of all, my advice would be to start throwing spaghetti at the wall! It can take a little time to find your style and how you enjoy writing so dont be afraid to play around with it. Write down every idea you have even if it's barely an idea, "actual ghost sex?" is one from my notes app. Write whenever you can, even if it's just a sentence. Get really freaky with it, always. Kill the cop in your head that says people won't like something is its "too x" and then really lean into that thing.

Write the fic you want to read and become obsessed with it. Don't be afraid of self inserts or original characters. Write what you know but dont be afraid to do some research. Uh.... give someone a pet, people love pets.

Idk have fun and be yourself really.

A slightly unhinged case for jin guangyao knowing about the core transfer while WWX was still alive

Ok. SO. In chapter 101, during guangyin temple, Jin Guangyao clearly knows about the golden core transfer. He uses it to bring Jiang Cheng off-kilter and stab him and simultaneously reveals to wwx that jc himself now knows about the golden core transfer.

I've always wondered exactly when he figured it out. The most obvious explanation is that he pieced it together after hearing about Jiang Cheng asking everyone to unsheathe suibian (also? jgy? how the fuck do you know that? You were already going to/at Guanyin temple at this point! Did you just have people listen in on rumours from Yunmeng and report back to you for that?? Did you tell your spy network where you were going? My whole kingdom for a retelling of this arc from the pov of these random jin disciples seeing their sect leader start spiralling. He's diggin up random tombs? Fleeing the country? And threatening the heir's life?? What was random Jin cultivator #6 thinking of this before Nie Mingjue turned him into minced meat?)

BUT.

The first time I read that line I was like "oh so he's known for a WHILE." I mean, the line "I've always found it peculiar [that wwx never took his sword anywhere]" does indicate he's been thinking about this for a while, but it doesn't have to mean he knew back then. So I absolutely can't say with certainty that my instinct was right. But I DO have some decent canon backing for how he might have potentially figured things out as early as before Wei Wuxian's death. Specifically, after the discussion scene that takens place when wei wuxian does his thing with the wens and dissapears.

Cause, see, Wen Chao would definitely have bragged about Wen Zhuliu crushing Jiang Cheng's core to his father. He killed the current sect leader, and then permanently disabled the only heir. He did it! the Jiang are gone! I bet he was very loud about it until, a few weeks later, Jiang Cheng suddenly strolls up to the battlefield, with Zidian on his finger, cultivation very much intact, looking for Wei Wuxian.

That must've been fucking baffling if you were Wen Chao and/or Wen Zhuliu and/or any other cultivator who was there and definitely saw Jiang Cheng's core get crushed. They must have assumed something went wrong, or he faked having his core destroyed, but we've never heard of something like that happening before, and they tortured him for hours! It wasn't a quick batle where Wen Zhuliu must have missed in haste, he would've noticed!

Now, by the time Meng yao arrives, wen zhuliu and wen chao are both long dead, but that kind of thing would at least still be a source of gossip among the other Wen. The only time the core melting hand ever failed!

It might be something that, say... a very careful spy with a perfect memory looking for information... might pick up on in his stay with the Wen, no?

So, Meng Yao has heard the rumour that sect leader Jiang got his core crushed but somehow managed to... still have a core.

Independantly of his, Wei Wuxian is being really weird and refusing to carry his sword. His primary concern there is wwx stirring shit up, he has no reason to believe these things are connected yet.

But then Wei Wuxian runs off with a bunch of Wen, and before he is cut off, Jiang Cheng tells everyone that after the siege on lotus pier, he and wei wuxian were helped by Wen Qing and Wen Ning! Jiang Cheng doesn't get to say how, which is good for jgy in this moment because he's trying to steer the conversation as such that no one gets mad at the Jin sect for all the war crimes, but even if his goal is for everyone else to forget Jiang Cheng said that, he'd remember it.

So... after the moment where jiang cheng, according to rumours that were contained to the wen, lost his core, he was helped by wen ning and wen qing, who is a really good doctor. And, in canon, had written theoretical proposals on core transfers before, just never experimented on them. Were these available for others among the Wen to read? Did jgy read them? We have no way of knowing. But if he did, he remembers them. Either way, he knows her reputation.

And Wei Wuxian disappeared right round that same moment, only to resurface with his demonic cultivation, at which point he never touched his sword again. Not even in the middle of a dangerous war. Not even when he was public enemy number one and it would do wonders for his reputation if he was seen cultivating the traditional path. When doing so would have made not just him but the 50 people he was shielding safer! if Jin guangyao was somehow in his position, he'd immediately do everything he could to counteract the narrative of beign a dangerous madman who'd left the straight path. Wei Wuxian has been in absolutely desperate situations and still refuses to pick up his sword...

The saying doesn't exist yet, but i'm sure someone like jgy, more competent than everyone around him, is intimately familair with at least the sentiment of "never ascribe to malice what is adequately explained by incompetence" He is helping spread the narrative of Wei Wuxian as a violent madman, sure, but does he believe it? If it makes no sense for wei wuxian, no longer a privileged young master but an outcast, to not pick up his sword again out of arrogancy, the most reliable explanation is that he... can't.

So Jiang Cheng, who got his core melted, got help from Wen Qing, an incredible doctor, after which he coud cultivate just fine but Wei Wuxian, no matter how desperate, never used traditional cultivation ever again...

Hm. interesting!

It's likely no one else in the jianghu outside of the wen even knew Jiang Cheng lost his core to begin with. And Jin Guangyao was never given wwx's excuse of Baoshan Sanren owing him a favor like Jiang Cheng was. He has all the puzzle pieces in front of him and... if anyone as gonna put them together, it'd be him.

And that's my unhinged case for why I believe Jin Guangyao knew Wei Wuxian didn't have a golden core anymore years before anyone else did. He just never told anyone, because why would he?

I think this adds a whole other level to his speech to Jiang Cheng about how everything could've worked out if he'd just trusted Wei Wuxian more and stood by his side. He saw it all play out in real time knowing there was more going on beneath the surface!

Now the really interesting question becomes: When did he figure out Jiang Cheng himself wasn't in on it? Did he piece it together immediately from remembering seeing jiang cheng berate wwx for not carrying a sword, a thing he should've known he couldn't do? Or was it not until later, maybe the fake yunmeng bros fallout, or the REAL fallout when Jiang Yanli died? Or was it still the news of Jiang Cheng going around and asking everyone to unsheathe subian that made him realize that oh my god this stupid bitch had no idea the whole time.

You know, I WAS joking about Jaina Solo in that poll post but can you imagine if they hadn’t nixed her from canon and Disney just kept doing the Tired Surrogate Dad/Guardian™ + kid story they’ve been doing and had instead had itty bitty Jaina Solo kidnapped, either meeting Boba Fett by random chance as he’s gunning down whoever it is that ransomed her, or Han and Leia specifically hiring Boba Fett to go find her. One of those chance meetings where these two characters cross paths once and then never see each other again until decades later when Jaina goes to him as an adult for training because she needs to be able to fight Jacen

I’ve never thought that Luke should be trying to build a Jedi school directly after the events of the original trilogy. They should have realistically known that there were going to be Imperials that needed to be found and defeated after the end of the war, it’s not like those structures suddenly stop existing, so Luke is off on whatever mission he’s doing as the resident Jedi, killing imperials and blowing up their resources or whatever

Leia’s helping run the New Republic. Han and Lando have their own roles. Jaina ends up kidnapped, Han and Chewie take off in pursuit. Leia obviously sends a more official group of guards out searching but Han was already halfway out the door, and he and Chewie’s pasts provide them with a bit more unscrupulous avenues of gaining info

Boba Fett just happened to be tracking whatever criminals kidnapped Jaina and just happens to intercept them a few days after Jaina was nabbed; the criminals’ ship is damaged in a firefight between them but not completely destroyed, and Boba boards the ship and there’s a whole standoff between him and them based on whatever their beef is before he just wastes the guys

And then he’s picking through their stuff for whatever it is he was there for and— oh sh*t is that a kid

We see both sides of the story unfolding as they get closer and closer to colliding with one another; on one side we have the worst week of Han Solo’s life and YES he’s counting being frozen in carbonite and waking up in Jabba’s Palace. Just sheer terror at what could happen to her, not knowing where she is, using every old trick and contact and criminal means necessary trying to find the kidnappers. Chewie having to stop him at one point as he’s just carving his way through anyone standing between them, needing to rein him in, make Han realize he needs a clear head and can’t lose his focus and snap right now. The two of them mowing through criminals and obstacles and us getting to see a more serious, intimidating side to Han, all the charm and levity gone from his interactions because this time he’s the one in pursuit, not the one running away, and what he’s trying to find is more important to him than anything else

Meanwhile Boba’s chilling (though somewhat put off by, y’know, the presence of a whole kindergarten-aged child) and trying to figure out who this kid belongs to so he can return them. Calling up Mando like “Hey you’ve got a kid, right? Can I pay you to watch this one until I figure out where she goes?” And Mando’s like “uh well ordinarily yes but I AM on a job right now and also Bo-Katan is still trying to kill me. Also why do you have a kid? Do I congratulate you or what’s the deal”

So Boba’s stuck with her because he doesn’t know who else he would trust this kid to besides Fennec, who is at the moment holding down the fort on Tatooine which is just where he would be staying with the kid anyway if he went there. Jaina chattering away and asking questions about the ship, poking through stuff she shouldn’t. Fett realizing he should probably lock the weapon’s locker just in case and will you please get down from there, you’re messing up my ship

Anyway. Adventure shenanigans, Fett eventually coming around to the kid’s charm and tenacity, either going back to his base of operations to do some research and stock up on supplies (meaning Jaina’s there on Tatooine getting a front row view of said wretched hive of scum and villainy, oh hey is that a rancor—?), or him sticking it out while he’s on the road because he was already out running errands, killing people and getting work done, the kid’s just gonna have to wait and tag along. What? Jango did it with him, she’ll be fine.

Either option has great story and character opportunities whether they’re on Tatooine or out exploring in the greater galaxy. Boba ends up figuring out who she is (because of course he does, he’s one of the greatest bounty hunters who ever lived) and Han figures out who now has her, inevitably leading to the collision course these two were on from the start

WIP Whateverday

Two snippets from the fic I'm playing around with. Kira (@crownleys

detective) is The detective, while mine (Barbara "Barbie" Robertson) is currently a researcher working with The Agency. That's our typical AU set up! This time, Barbie and Mason are hella divorced and it was ugly. PLUS Farah chipping away at Adam's walls, Adam (poorly) hiding that he's twitterpatted, and Nat trying so so hard to rizz Kira up without getting her chops busted about it.

Farah and Barbie have never actually met before this, but Farah's not the biggest fan after finding out why Barbie and Mason divorced. Especially upon finding out Barbie's opinion on vampires.

Turning back, she sees Nat standing at Mason’s side, one long, elegant hand resting gently on his shoulder. As hostile as Mason is on a normal day, Kira has the distinct impulse to warn her away. She holds her tongue though, trusting that Nat knows her friend. Sure enough, a moment later the tension riddling Mason’s body lessens somewhat.

“It’s fine, Nat,” Mason grits out.

“It will be,” Nat says. Her fingers squeeze a little. “It might even be good for you two to clear the air a bit.”

Mason scoffs loudly enough that the quiet buzz of the rest of the station beyond Kira’s tiny office pauses for a moment before resuming.

“I take it you and this Barbie person have some bad blood?” Kira queries cautiously. Mason squints at her. She gives a sheepish shrugs. “Sorry, no pun intended or anything.”

Nat answers when Mason won’t. “They went through something troubling together.”

“She doesn’t need to know anything about it,” Mason snaps, shooting a glare Kira’s way. She throws her hands up.

“To put it simply,” Barbie says, running a hand over her coarse, but well styled blonde hair. “I’ll be able to find your rogue within the day.”

“Wow, Mason wasn’t joking about your ego,” Farah blurts. Barbie’s flinches at the barb.

“I’m sure he’s had a lot to say about me,” Barbie replies, crossing her arms in front of herself and looking down the sidewalk. Nat shoots Farah a look, who folds her hands behind her back innocently.

“None of that really matters right now,” Nat says, laying a hand on Barbie’s shoulders.

“No.” Barbie takes a breath, then turns back to look at Kira. Oddly, her pupils are barely more than pinpricks within her hazel irises. “No, we need to keep you safe and out of that monster’s hands.”

“Monster,” Farah mutters under her breath.

Have you thought about how the Guilty would kill their victims in your Miraculous Danganronpa Au because I have a few thoughts:

Zoe: Knowing her character and motivation, I imagine she would want her victim's death to be as quick and painless as possible; Ex. She uses a powder poison that somehow ends up in Juleka’s makeup. Maybe put there by the real mastermind.

Nath: if he didn't intend to kill anyone then the murder would be sudden and sloppy, I also feel like it would have to do with art (art supplies can be dangerous after all); Ex. He stabs Luka with an x-acto knife out of self defense and leaves to get help or first aid only to be too late.

BONUS IDEA: What if after Nath left someone (maybe Lila or Felix) locked the door to the room so he couldn't get back in to help Luka

Sabrina/Chloe: here the murders would be more violent. If the trap was meant for Marinette maybe it would have to do with sewing pins; Ex. The class finds a large lump of fabric in the sewing room (if there is one) only to unravel it and find Rose impaled with dozens of sewing needles.

Sabrina: If she snapped at Chloe, then her murder would also be sudden; Ex. Maybe strangling Chloe with a diamond necklace or pushing Chloe into a mirror, and it falls on her

Kagami: Not sure about this one honestly but maybe when the others find her she holding a picture of her friends and has discarded her family ring, showing how she cares more about the lives of her friends than the honor of her family

Lila: I know Marinette is the one framed but what if Lila used a method where anyone could have been the killer; Ex. When they find the body there is evidence that anyone could have been there like Rollerblade marks or Nino's headphones. After all, if everyone is too busy pointing the finger and defending themselves no one will think she did it. Even better, they are more likely to take her side if she defends them.

Anyway, these are just my thoughts. I really enjoy your art and your au!

I love love love the Zoe and Nathaniel murder methods! They’re perfect!

I’m still pretty iffy on Kagami’s specifics too, all I know is that Felix (disguised as Adrien) and Marinette are both suspects for her death. Marinette pulls what Aoi tried to pull in Sakura’s case (Marinette claiming that she killed Kagami when she didn’t- there would be tons of clues to indicate her as the perpetrator) so we get an unreliable narrator. Felix is the one to figure out the case. Marinette had recently gotten in contact with Marcov and had rigged the punishment machines in her favor. She was hoping to set up a way for everyone to escape. Her hypothesis was that she could escape on the other end (to where all the dead bodies are discarded) if she wasn’t killed by the machines. When she is discovered to not be the perpetrator, she uses the same explanation Aoi used (we should have all died- we caused her murder!) as a coverup in front of Monokuma. This puts Lila’s plan into action.

When Marinette is falsely accused by Lila in chapter 5, and is declared guilty, she puts her plan into motion as a last resort. It doesn’t quite work the way she had initially hoped, and Adrien (the real Adrian) finds her.
