Real talk: I really REALLY struggle when having to draw characters that I don't know. Typically I like to draw characters in a way that embodies their personality. But when I got nothing, the end result just turns out... kinda lifeless y'know?

With that said, I won't be doing requests of characters I'm not familiar with.

Souls in the Sand: Concept Art

As I’ve mentioned here and there, I’ve spent the last two years developing an original story inspired by a small Origins+Empires server a few friends and I started planning. The more I developed plans for my empire to be a sprawling overgrown cityscape of ruins and stone framework inspired by the nether, the more I built up this backstory for the character I wanted to play, a small deerfolk boy named Esra. From there, and over months of working and reworking the story and its characters, I’m proud to say I’m coming up on a 100 piece gallery for my Masters Exhibition to display this story in the form of a song-inspired comic, titled: Souls in the Sand.

Over the next month and beyond the date of my exhibition in April, I wanted to start sharing my work here! I thought it would be fitting to first share all of the concept work I did for the characters last semester as I took each character from their old lineup and reworked them from scratch to see if there were any designs I could make more unique or appropriate for the story. This process consisted of four stages: silhouettes, full-body mock-ups, face and head shapes/designs, and experimenting with the final characters’ designs with a set of unique expressions that best fit their personalities and narrative role.

Since each character was reworked separately, the “new” concept lineup is a little disjointed (and some of the characters’ faces actually ended up different from their full-body designs), but I thought it would be fun to line them up to compare the overall cast to their old designs. With each character(s) I post the concept process for, I may share little bits of the work I’m doing or talk a little about their narrative roles as I go, but for now, have Esra!

I know I don’t post original work here often, but I wanted to share parts of this journey with you guys because it’s been very meaningful to me! And I hope all of the work I’ve been doing may at the very least serve as a bit of inspiration or encouragement for us to keep making silly minecraft stories, to keep drawing the characters we love, and to keep being creative in whatever way is meaningful! <3

You and Jack were only going to take a nap, but then light kisses turned out into a heavy make-out session, and now here you were.

Jack thrusting roughly into you, you were a moaning mess. His phone started ringing, which made you stop kissing him and turn your head to it.

“Ignore it,” he said and kissed your neck. The call ended, but the person did not give up and just a few seconds after the phone started calling again.

"Who is calling you,” you ask him, the sound distracting you too much

"I don't know,” He mutters, breathing heavily 

"just turn it off," you breathe out before kissing his neck. His thrusts halter a bit but he does not fully stop. He takes his phone from the bedside table, quickly looks at it, and presses one of the buttons. 

He put the phone back down before picking up his speed again. 

”Back to business,” He breathes out and bends down to kiss you

”Jack, please, harder” you moan into his ear. 

After a few seconds you both reach your points, he pulls out and lays beside you, both of you panting heavily. 

Jack’s phone started to go off again, now more than before. Not only phone calls but also text messages. 

”Damn, what the hell do they want” he exclaims and reaches for his phone. 

”Oh shit,” he exclaims ”Uhm, babe” he carefully says 

”What’s wrong?” You ask with your eyebrows furrowed, you sit up with the help of your elbows and look at him.

”Uhm, apparently, I took a picture a few minutes ago on BeReal,” he says 

"Uhm, what?" Your eyes got wider 

Jack went into the app and looked at it. Fortunately, the picture did not show that much. The back of it was just the wall, but the front camera showed Jack being on top of you, his curls all over the place. Only a bit of you was showing, so that was good. But it was very clear you were doing something. Both of your faces were screwed up. 

Just then, he got a notification from a group chat; everybody teasing him

Urban - someone’s having a good time, I see

Clay - broooo I don’t think that’s meant for us; at least I know why you weren’t answering my calls now 

You started to giggle at Jack’s horrified expression, he looked at you with a shocked face.

“Why are you laughing? Aren’t you mad?” He asked, making you laugh

“You can barely see anything, just your face and a bit of mine. It’s fine babe” he relaxed as you said it. He shook his head, writing something in the group chat then putting his phone on do not disturb. 

“Round two?” He smirked and got down under the covers to pleasure you

synopsis: after your huge fight with jack he does everything he can to make you feel better

The argument played in your head as you stared into space. You knew you overreacted and you wanted to take back everything you said but it was too late.

Tears pricked your eyes and you lazily pulled your comforter over you hoping it would shield you from all your problems.

A knock met your bedroom door and all the anxiety you felt before struck through you.

"Y/n can we talk?" You heard jack's muffled voice through the door call out to you.

You laid there in fear but you knew it was better to talk it out now than later.

"Come in." Jack came right in with no hesitation and shut the door behind him.

"Listen..I know you've been feeling- you don't know what I've been feeling." You cut him off.

"Your right I don't. I really, really don't.." he inched closer to your spot on the bed.

"Remember when I was having trouble writing lyrics for the album and I didnt feel like going to the studio?" Jack asked you.

"Yeah. That happened more than once." You chuckled tiredly and sat up on the headboard of the bed.

"And you always showed up for me. Now I would really love to show up for you if you'll let me." You took his hand and softly caressed the ring on his finger.

"I'm not going anywhere y/n. Your stuck with me." He smiled and caressed your tear-stained cheek.

"Why are you being so nice to me? I've been fucking awful to you." You asked as you leaned into his touch to hide the tears that threatened to spill.

"I can handle it." You smiled and gave him a soft kiss, wrapping your arms around his neck.

"Hey I got you something." He gave you a bag of kfc which made you look up at him with a pout on your face.

"My life would suck so much without you jack." You laughed and pulled out the items he got for you and him.
