WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump’s 25% auto tariffs will cover nearly $600 billion worth of vehicles and auto parts imports annually and extend to all computer imports into the U.S. - including laptops - according to a Reuters analysis of tariff codes included in a federal register notice on Wednesday. The update of Trump’s auto tariff proclamation from last week included nearly 150 auto parts categories that will face tariffs starting on May 3, a month after Thursday’s midnight activation of 25% tariffs on vehicle imports. The list includes tariff codes for engines, transmissions, lithium-ion batteries and other major components, along with less expensive parts including tires, shock absorbers, spark plug wires and brake hoses. But a major surprise was the inclusion of the four-digit tariff code covering all computers, which are among the biggest global import categories into the U.S. at $138.5 billion in 2024, according to U.S. Census Bureau data.

✧ ˚.The Ultimate Study Guide: How to Become a Top-Tier Student ✨📚

Hi besties! 💖 It’s Mindy here, your resident study buddy and glow-up guru at Glowettee. I wanna talk about how to become a top-tier student this upcoming year without losing your sanity—or your vibe. Imagine sipping on a latte, surrounded by pastel notes and cute stationery, feeling like the main character of your academic journey. That’s the energy we’re channeling today. Ready to take your study game from blah to iconic? Hopefully these tips could help prepare for the second semester!
1. Active Recall and Spaced Repetition Hacks
Okay, so here’s the deal: simply reading your notes is not the move. You’ve got to make your brain work a little harder to really soak in all that info.
Active recall: Write down questions from your notes and try answering them without looking. This forces your brain to actually retrieve the information (and helps you remember it longer!).
Spaced repetition: Spread out your study sessions instead of cramming. Use apps like Anki or Quizlet to create digital flashcards that you review over time. Bonus: Anki is super aesthetic if you customize the fonts and colors. 🌸
2. How to Make Study Sessions Feel Luxurious
Studying doesn’t have to feel like a chore, babe. Here’s how to romanticize the grind:
Set the mood: Light a candle, play soft lofi beats, and wear your coziest silk robe. (Yes, the fancy one.)
Aesthetic setup: Use pastel highlighters, cute pens, and a clean desk space. Your desk should feel like a Pinterest board come to life.
Snacks & drinks: Treat yourself to something yummy like matcha lattes or chocolate-covered almonds. A chic study session is fueled by snacks, trust me. 🍵
3. Step-by-Step Pomodoro Method Breakdown for Focus
Pomodoro is basically magic for productivity. Here’s how to do it:
Set a timer for 25 minutes and work on one task. (Pro tip: Choose something specific, like summarizing one chapter.)
Take a 5-minute break after each session. Stretch, grab a sip of water, or scroll Pinterest for inspo.
Repeat four times, then take a longer 20-30 minute break. Use this time to dance around your room or journal—it’s all about balance.
🦢 ✧ ˚.Why it works: Breaking your tasks into bite-sized chunks makes studying less overwhelming and way more manageable. Plus, the breaks keep you refreshed and motivated.🦢 ✧ ˚.
4. Best Apps for Studying
Bestie, your phone doesn’t have to be a distraction—it can be your ultimate study tool. Here are my faves:
Notion: Perfect for organizing your study schedule and creating dreamy, color-coded notes. You can even add cute icons and headers to make it so aesthetic. (SPOILER!! I'll be making some soon for you guys!!)
Quizlet: Great for flashcards and testing yourself on key terms. Bonus: You can use other people’s study sets if you’re short on time.
Anki: Ideal for mastering those tough subjects (hello, bio and chem!). The spaced repetition feature is a lifesaver for long-term retention.
Forest: Keeps you off your phone by growing virtual trees while you study. The guilt of killing your tree will keep you focused, I promise. 🌳
5. How to Romanticize School and Make It Fun
Here’s the tea: school doesn’t have to be boring. Treat every class like a stepping stone to your dream life.
Dress the part: Show up like the best-dressed main character. Think Blair Waldorf vibes but comfy—plaid skirts, cozy cardigans, and knee-high socks are always a win.
Curate your supplies: Invest in cute stationery, a pastel planner, and maybe even a monogrammed tote bag. If it feels luxurious, you’ll want to use it.
Celebrate small wins: Finished a chapter? Reward yourself with a TikTok break or a face mask. You deserve it.
Shift your mindset: Instead of dreading school, think of it as part of your glow-up. Every essay, test, or project is one step closer to the 🦢 ✧ ˚.elite🦢 ✧ ˚. version of you.
Final Thoughts
You’ve got this, babe. Becoming a top-tier student is about working smarter, not harder—and looking cute while doing it. Make your study sessions a vibe, stay consistent with these hacks, and watch your grades (and confidence) skyrocket. Remember: You’re not just studying for school; you’re building the foundation for your dream life. 💕
Let me know how you’re leveling up your study game in the comments or tags! And don’t forget to tag @glowettee if you post your aesthetic study setups—I’d love to see them. ✨
Xoxo, Mindy/Glowettee 🌸

your yugioh discord server au my beloved.
dunno if this already came up, but i tottaly see everyone chatting regulary (esp jaden the spammer-tm), minus yusei. he just lurks and gives a reply every second year/when tagged. </3
Yusei is the lurker who nevertheless responds immediately when tagged. The guy will never hop in and voice his opinion, but the second you @ him he has replied the nanosecond you hit send. He is, however, the biggest organizer of server movie nights, voice chats, and meet-up when multiple members of them are in the same city. This au is set after his series ended, after all. He's already keeping up long distance friendships with Jack, Crow, Akiza, and the twins. He is hardcore about keeping on top of online friendships. Sometimes he'll just pop into the vc while he's working and leave it open while he tinkers.
In ascending order of activity, Yusaku probably chats the second least. This tempered though, by the fact that they are always online. 4am in the morning? Yusaku is there. Yusaku's actually more vocal in the discord than in real life, after years of growing up raised by message boards an forums. If everyone sees it's been like 25 hours since they logged off, someone will shoot a message to Kolter, or they'll just log into vrains and hunt him down like it's the most dangerous game (getting Yusaku to log off and go the fuck to sleep)
Yuya took a while to warm up the the GC, but every day gets more bold with just kicking down the doors of the chat and going off about something or another. Also he's in a minecraft server with all his brothers and the bracelet girls, so if he's online but not responding, it's probably because he's griefing Yuri's dirt house for the third time this week.
Yugi's really active in the chat, a fact that never fails to blow Yuma and Yuya's minds. He'll be at a global release sponsored by every important duel monsters company under the sun, and he'll send pictures of Kaiba caught mid sneeze with the caption 'LOL'. He will be on NATIONAL TV AND TEXTING THE GROUPCHAT. His memes are legendary.
No one knows how to quantify Yuma's activity, because there's like a 90% chance most of the messages he sends are him???? But then there's also the possibility that half his messages are Astral feeling chatty, and it's very hard to tell because both of them are equally likely to start a rousing discussion on the morals of dolphins at 3 in the morning. Yugi is the only one who can reliably tell them apart.
And OF COURSE, AT THE TOP OF THE LIST, IT'S YA BOI, YOUR SUPREME MEME KING: JADEN YUKI. *insert airhorn sound effect* Spammer galore. Constantly uploading selfies of him standing in front of some eldritch abomination, or standing on the surface of Jupiter, or some other such equally questionable use of his powers. Liveblogs his annoyance at being made to do demonic paperwork. Makes incomprehensible memes that no one can tell if he's dunking on his henchmen again, or just really, really good at shitposting. He has a channel in the discord just for him where, every day, he just sends a single digit number, and some of the yu-boys are going crazy trying to figure out if it's a code, or some secret eldritch coordinates, or a massive ARG style prank, or what.
Yusei eventually reveals it's how many tries Yubel took to get the days wordle.

I totally think Code lyoko should have it's talked about reboot, mostly because
- when it came to Carthage, the most canon explanation from Franz himself, the explanation only lasts about 1 minute and 25 seconds, and nothing else comes of it
Sure, we knew why Xana was created, but like, Franz never really said Xana stopped it as it was his main intended purpose, why Xana was made to begin with, so like, that's a real issue in canon consitering Franz wanted to stop the project but never got to consitering Xana gained autonomy and all
And like, Carthage was kind of hinted at to be a bad thing too, you'd think that could be a real issue in universe
- spent 3 whole seasons building on this one character only not to do much with it at all and give him a really bad rep in universe afterwards
Okay, you know me, I like William an abnormal amount, but with all things considered, he wasn't a character to begin with, neither was a plot device imo
Yeah, he absolutely has no personality, argue with the wall if you need to
So like, yeah, he got posessed, but then what? Sure he was used to try to throw Aelita into the Digital sea, but like, tarantulas could do the same thing with those long ass arms, they could just use them as bats
And you've literally seen megatanks push her closer to the digital sea when she used a energy field as a sheild of sorts, so really, what was the point of him to begin with of other monsters could do the same thing no problem
And after a whole season of dawdling around, the writers rushed the whole "set him free" arc after ignoring it for basically the whole season, like there wasn't any episodes besides cold sweat where the characters actively try to break him free, you'd think there would be a little more give from the characters considering how #depressed Yumi was
(and yes, I know the show says, "I made ___ program" but let us see the FAILURE!!!!)
Even then, when he came back, the characters all decide "fuck this, you ain't shit to me" and dropkick him back to his life without any support, like dude lost months of his life without something he either remembers or blanked out on
- character writing in season four
Okay, this isn't really a reason why, it's more of saying "Why did you make your characters worse, we deserve better"
Because Odd in season four just became an absolutely terrible person, man
Constantly throwing his freinds under the bus just for some scheme he pulled or literally abusing the fact that he knows about Lyoko as a point to say to the others "This is why we're friends!!!1!@1!!" Even though at this point their friendship is downright terrible, like to the point where they just want to get Lyoko dealed with so they can fall apart like a poorly put together cup with scotch taped all over it
Imo nobody seemed to like each other as opposed to season 1 and 2 where they talked casually, like they had an actual friendship going on, not like "so, what's new on Lyoko, I want this shit dealt with today..." they were actual friends who did stuff together and had fun, I miss that :<
Anyways that was a more personal take, but season 4 just leaves a bad taste in my mouth with that rushed ending of theirs
Uhm oops, this was a long rant of what I dislike about the show, I was supposed to make this post simply to tell you guys what I'd propose for a continuation
Here's what I'd do:
Consitering Carthage was an abandoned idea from the depths of season 2, we build on that again
I'm imagining a non-terribly written Evo mixed with the chronicles, like bitch I actually love the idea of Ulrichs dad being tied in with Carthage simply because like, it would make so much sense (absolutely don't pull a chronicles though making EVREYONES mothers under the sun being tied in, that was stupid)
I'm also thinking, the antagonist we have is still a program, but it isn't Xana like in main series
Sure, they're simular, but it's a remnant from Carthage that has the same ideas as Xana, but worse (this is all first draft, but that's like the main idea that could work)
Also, give Will and actual personality this time, not just this "I'm soooooo sad" attitude that any traumatized character has, he has the potential to be COMPLEX!!!!
Kids cartoons nowadays are getting complex so don't say "Oh no they can't, it's a kids cartoon"
Anyways I'm hoping they build off of Carthage because that would be a PERFECT continuation aauaghh
Enjoy (?) My unexpected rant, idk
#code lyoko#extremely hot takes with ideas#sorry if I said something you don't like but thats how I feel#also make Sissi a cool character too#I dont want her to be this bratty bitch#give me nice sissi moments#william dunbar#odd della robbia#aelita schaeffer#ulrich stern#yumi ishiyama

Hi! I struggle with how to study efficiently. Any study tips you can give? Thank you! you're an inspiration <3
Hihi! Thankyou for the compliment :)
I'm disabled, so my study techniques have changed a lot over the years, so I'll give you both — when I was able-bodied and what I do rn.

(able bodied)
Reviewing lecture notes
📝 So the first thing I do is, review the day's lectures after coming home before doing any other leisurely activities. I come home, eat something, then look through the topics that have been done for the day, and make sure I understand everything. I don't STUDY it, but only read through.
Posing deadlines for myself:
⏳ I do this for a few days until a significant amount of portion is done, and THEN I start studying. I finish one chapter per day, or if it is a huge one, split it for two or three days. I usually pose a deadline for myself — if i have 5 hours to complete this part, and it has 25 pages, so i need to complete 5 pages in one hour, which is 1 page every 12 minutes. I know this is very specific but giving specific deadlines for myself help me complete things faster. And breaking up big chapters like this also make em less intimidating.
Pomodoro:
🕑 I used a 60-10 pomodoro, give and take a few minutes — and it worked because when I was able bodied, I could focus for longer periods of time without any difficulty.
Making notes: Is it required?
✒️ One important thing to think of while taking notes is— do you really need to take seperate notes in order to study, or is reading from the textbook enough for you? Personally, my textbooks have information that's spread through pages and I like my study material to be concise and to the point. I zone out really quickly while reading from the textbook because the information is EVERYWHERE. Abd also the lack of color makes it boring lol. This is why i make seperate notes. If you have no problem with reading from the textbook or any other printed material, I think making notes would be a waste of time.
Physical vs Digital notes:
⌨️ I extensively take physical notes. I love writing down information, color coding them, and highlighting key points. The colors help me visualize the page during the exam, and sometimes I remember an answer only because it was written in a different color than the rest of the page.
I know people who take digital notes, but that doesn't work for me because again, I zone out while reading things from a screen XD. But there are a lot of advantages like easy portability, better organization etc.
(disabled)
Start early
📝 I start studying from the first day. Since my health fluctuates a lot, I don't know when I will go down with a flare and not be able to study. So I start early and try to be ahead of the lecturers so even if I take a few days off, I'm not lagging behind.
Pomodoro:
🕑 Sitting for a long time messes up my hips, so I use a 20-5 pomodoro. I study for 20 minutes and then walk around for 5, stretching a little etc.
Posing deadlines:
⏳I make a schedule but not a very harsh one. Because I need to make it flexible as my health fluctuates a lot. So I usually assign study days for two days, then take a day off, so that I don't get burntout easily. I usually start with assignments the day it is assigned, so that I can do a little everyday and complete it before the due date without tiring myself out.
Making notes:
✒️ Even if I am disabled, I take notes (this does not apply to everyone, I'm just giving my experience). I've tried taking digital notes, and although the stylus and/or typing is much easier on my hand, I allow myself the pleasure of taking physical notes whenever I have the energy to. Because I genuinely cannot study from digital notes lol. I color code my physical notes so I can remember and recall information easily, and it also makes any topic less boring :D
These are all the tips that I use(d), I hope they help you anon!

Ok Miss Dominator, Miss Noel.
This project has taken a lot of time, research and man power but we're confident you'll be pleased with the results.
Now what you see before you is a 22 foot tall, 20 foot wide, 25 foot deep, cuboid made of 2 feet thick sturdium, the toughest and one of the rarest substances in the known universe. In the center of each side is an incredibly rare anti-void stones that protect the interior from any and all types of teleporting or portal technology and magic.
The whole thing is completely fire and heat proof thanks to the freezburnium power crystals placed in all corners of the interior, and as a bonus keeps the inside cool.
The door also 2 feet thick is fitted with a 2 12 digit code lock, 3 key card locks, voice recognition lock, a retinal scan, hand print scan and D.N.A scan. And if anyone attempts to gain entry with out correctly filling out each lock they will be struck with 20 volts of electricity followed by the alarm activating.
And so with that said we can confidently say that this advanced system will suit your needs and will keep defiantly keep Hekapoo from your Easter candies.

Hey. I seriously need to get this off my chest.
I’m so tired. Like, not just tired-tired. Soul tired. I’ve been holding everything up around here while my mom’s been in and out of the hospital — nearly died, had to be cut open, had a wound vac, kidney problems, blood infection, the whole damn horror show. And who’s been doing everything? Me.
I get maybe 24–30 hours of work a week at barely above minimum wage. I get paid biweekly and still cover $160 for phones (hers, mine, our hotspot, everything), and every damn grocery trip falls on me. I’ve been spending $180–$345 every two weeks just on food, toilet paper, Tylenol, whatever-the-hell-we-need to survive. And he — my mom’s boyfriend — just… exists. Like a roach that thinks it's royalty.
He sits on the couch like some retired god of laziness, watching COPS and the same five episodes of Texas Metal like it’s sacred scripture. Never lifts a finger unless it’s to point blame or pour another drink. Meanwhile, I’m taking care of chickens he gave me — 10 hens and a rooster — and selling eggs for $4 a dozen. And guess who gets to keep none of the money? Yep. He calls it the “feed fund” while I’m the one who’s actually bought feed out of my own pocket.
Oh, and when my mom was actively dying in the hospital, I was there twice a day, brushing her hair, cleaning her feet, being present. What did he do? Timed my visits from the parking lot while sitting with the dogs, then strutted in for five minutes like he deserved applause for breathing next to her. Because “he doesn’t like hospitals.” Cool. I don’t like being 25 and having to be a nurse, housekeeper, grocery delivery service, emotional support human, AND tech support for a 75-year-old man who permanently locked himself out of his iPhone and blames the Wi-Fi.
He literally screamed at me because I couldn’t read his mind and magically know the six-digit code he forgot while drunk and stoned. Then got mad that my Xbox was connected to the TV even though I saved him over $1,200 a year by showing him how to watch Tubi for free. He can't figure out how to use a controller but refuses to let me help. Screams because it’s not a “normal remote.”
Meanwhile, this genius criticizes my mom for brushing her tongue — says he’s never done that in his life.” No shit, Sherlock. The sink looks like a science experiment every morning. He still doesn’t know how to brush his teeth without spit-painting the bathroom. Don’t even get me started on the moldy foil he hoards behind the microwave like it’s precious treasure and pulls a whole-ass GUN when you try to throw it away.
AND — cherry on top — today he made my recovering mom drive me to work because he was “tired.” Tired of WHAT, exactly? You don’t cook, you don’t clean, and you sure as hell don’t care that the woman you claim to love nearly DIED.
He even told her “it’s been a month, you should be over this by now.” Meanwhile, when he stubs his toe he acts like he’s survived a war zone. Wants to pop her pain meds and moan about “his pain” while she’s literally holding her insides in with gauze and a wound pump.
I’m just… done. Burnt out. Furious. I’ve spent weeks bottling this and I’m starting to shake from the pressure. I'm tired of being the one who fixes everything and gets treated like I’m overreacting for finally saying anything.
Anyway, I know that was long. I just had to say it somewhere.

Company Establishment in Turkey
Company establishment in Turkey has become a popular avenue for both foreign and domestic investors, offering numerous benefits such as a young population, favorable currency rates, and decreasing production and labor costs. The dynamic economy, strategic location, and favorable regulatory framework have made Turkey an attractive destination for businesses aiming to expand in the region.
Legal Framework
The foundation of company registration in Turkey is governed by the Turkish Commercial Code (Law No. 6102). This key legislation outlines the legal requirements for forming a company, regardless of whether the business is owned by domestic or foreign entrepreneurs. Complementary laws, such as the Turkish Code of Obligations (No. 6098) and Turkish Civil Code (No. 4721), also play a role in specific aspects of company operations.
Under the law, companies in Turkey acquire legal personality upon registration with the Trade Registry, meaning they are recognized as separate legal entities. This legal separation allows companies to enjoy rights and undertake obligations in their own name, and protects investors from personal liability in many cases.
Foreign Investment in Turkey
Foreigners are allowed to establish companies in Turkey with the same rights as Turkish citizens. The Foreign Direct Investment Law (No. 4875), enacted in 2013, eliminated the legal distinctions between foreign and domestic investors, providing equal treatment to both. This legal framework makes it easier for foreign investors to enter the Turkish market and benefit from its growing opportunities.
Recent legislative developments, such as the 2024 FATF Decision on Türkiye, have further improved Turkey’s attractiveness as an investment hub, particularly with the enactment of new laws like the Turkish Crypto Law (No. 7518). This law addresses critical areas such as digital assets, cryptocurrencies, and peer-to-peer platforms, providing clarity and structure for investors interested in emerging technologies.
Company Types and Registration Process
Investors have the option to establish five types of companies in Turkey, as stipulated in the Turkish Commercial Code:
Collective Companies
Commandite Companies
Cooperatives
Limited Companies
Joint-Stock Companies
The incorporation process can be efficiently completed through MERSİS, the Central Registry System, allowing businesses to finalize registration electronically. One notable advantage in Turkish company law is the ability to establish a single-shareholder joint-stock company or a single-member limited liability company.
To register a company, several steps must be followed:
Draft and sign the company contract,
Prepare signature declarations of company officials,
Pay relevant fees, including the Competition Authority share and capital,
Submit required documents to the Trade Registry Office.
Taxation and Corporate Governance
In Turkey, companies are generally subject to a 20% corporate income tax, while finance-related businesses like banks face a higher rate of 25%. Investors should stay updated on tax changes, including the 2024 amendments to Turkish tax laws, as they can significantly impact business operations.
Once a company is established, the proper management of corporate governance becomes crucial. The Turkish Commercial Code includes specific provisions on how the board of directors should function, ensuring that businesses operate smoothly and in compliance with national laws. Companies must adhere to these corporate governance rules to maintain their legal standing and avoid potential legal issues.
Investment Opportunities and Methods
In addition to direct company establishment, foreign investors may consider other investment options in Turkey, such as:
Share Acquisition: Buying shares of an existing company instead of establishing a new one,
Liaison Offices: Setting up representative offices that handle non-commercial activities,
Franchising: Turkey’s franchising market is open to foreign entrepreneurs, though it is governed by general contract law rather than specific franchising regulations.
Moreover, the Investment Incentive Regime provides significant benefits for businesses in various sectors, including tax reductions, exemptions, and subsidies, making it an appealing option for entrepreneurs considering long-term investments in Turkey.
Additional Steps and Requirements
Beyond the formal registration process, businesses must fulfill several other requirements to begin operations, including:
Opening a bank account,
Obtaining a tax identification number,
Registering for social security if employees are hired,
Acquiring relevant licenses and permits based on the industry.
For example, businesses in the health sector are subject to additional licensing requirements, and recent updates to the 2024 Medical Laboratories Regulation have made significant changes in this field.
Liquidation Process
Companies in Turkey may undergo liquidation through either a voluntary or compulsory process. Liquidation involves selling the company’s assets, collecting receivables, and paying off debts. The liquidation procedure is governed by the Enforcement and Bankruptcy Code (No. 2004) and requires careful management to ensure that the legal entity is properly dissolved.
Conclusion
Turkey’s favorable legal environment, strategic location, and recent regulatory developments offer substantial opportunities for investors. Whether establishing a new company, acquiring shares, or exploring franchising opportunities, Turkey’s business-friendly framework provides a solid foundation for growth. By navigating the legal and bureaucratic processes with the help of experienced legal professionals, foreign and domestic entrepreneurs can successfully establish and expand their businesses in Turkey.

Raffles' "telephone call"
Edit 25/08/2024: Correction on the current state of the Gerrard Street exchange.
When this story is set, there was no such thing as automatic telephone dialling. In fact, rotary dials weren't even in very wide use.
Basically, if you wanted to call someone on the 'phone (the apostrophe later disappearing), you had to pick it up and physically ask someone to connect you to the other number. She would then physically plug your connection into the slot for the other person's number. If you wanted to call long-distance, you might have to wait for a long to become available. To call internationally - there was a connection to Paris - it was a case of booking a three-minute slot in advance for 8 shillings, maximum of two calls consecutively.
Limited numbers of lines would be a thing well into the 20th century; East Berlin cut its telephone connections to West Berlin in 1952 and only restored ten lines in 1971 via Potsdam as inter-German relations improved; they were swiftly booked up.
Note that I said "she". The vast majority of telephone exchange operators were women. You could legally pay them less and they were felt to be more professional then the men. Although, I imagine that they probably had to leave if they got married:
Of course privacy was a concern; there was a chance that someone might be listening in on your call. Something that was a concern even in 1952 when George VI died - the phrase"Hyde Park Corner" was used to inform government officials of his death ahead of the official announcment. In 2022, the code phrase for Elizabeth II's death was "London Bridge".
Raffles' has pretended to ask for a number at the Gerrard Street telephone exchange in Soho, now a pedestrianised street in Chinatown, which moved there in the 1960s. This would be rebuilt in 1908 and remains active to this day;' the building also contains an events venue called the China Exchange. Weirdly, I went to a gaming thing there in 2018.
The Gerrard Street exchange, like the others in London, would form part of the new London Director Area in 1927, where you could directly dial another exchange using a three letter/digit code, with letters grouped by the numbers on the dial, although this took some years to implement. This area did not match any county boundaries and still does not; outer areas like Romford retain their own codes.
Gerrard Street was GER, so the lawyer's number would be 437 9233, just listed as GER 9233. WHI 1212 or Whitehall 1212 was the number for New Scotland Yard.
We moved to all figure dialling in 1965 (mainly to eliminate confusion and for making international calls easier); by this time area codes were coming in and London's would be 01. So the number became 01 473 9233. However, many of the area codes would be based on place names and still retain this today.
In 1990, the London area code was split into two, with the Inner London area being 071 and 081 being used for Outer London. In 1995, PhONEday (that's what they called it) made all landline codes start with 01 to increase capacity; 07 is now used for mobile phones. So Howson, Anstruther and Martin would now be 0171 473 233.
In 2000, the Big Number Change combined 0171 and 0181 to a new 020 single code, to increase capacity in London by five times. 0171 numbers became 020 7, 0181 were now 020 8. This meant the number would be 020 7473 9233.
But many people still would write it as 0207 473 9233, which would cause me mild annoyance if I saw it.
As a final note, we have our own version of 555 here;
I shall hang up there, so to speak.

In the beginning there was noise – thus writes Rosa Menkman in her influential Glitch Studies Manifesto (2011), a work that laid the foundations for the critical exploration of art works that incorporate noise & error as a means to examine and interrupt the normative function of the image and the media itself. These works do not only present pleasurable aesthetic objects (because, yes, dirty glitch can be indeed very pretty) – they also act as a magnifying glass drawing attention to the material basis of the technology used to reproduce moving images, whether it be celluloid, analogue video or digital apparatus.Using various means to distort the recognizable imagery, they bring us exciting, vibrant & noisy alternative visions that radically challenge the dominating clean, sterile imagery of contemporary digital cinema. As such, they pose fundamental questions regarding the political nature of technology, image and the reality itself. The selection divided in two blocks will showcase 16 eye- & mind-bending contemporary audiovisual works that offer a journey through a myriad of creative & critical uses of glitch followed by the Q&A discussion with the artists.PROGRAM 09.10.2023.Introspective landscapes & limits of memory in the post-internet wildernessDuration: 50′Death Orgone Absorption fœtale – Pulsion panspermique (CA, 2023,6′)Sabato Visconti – Origin Story (Best Price USA), v01 (US, 2023, 2′)Sarah Lasley – Welcome to the Enclave (US, 2023, 12′)Autojektor – robyn (2021, UK, 4′)YOVOZOL – Purplenoia (Parts 1 & 2) (NL, 2023, 10′)le désert mauve (Charline Dally + Gabrielle HB) – dickinsonia. les archives sensibles (CA, FR, 11′)Niloufar Baniasadi, Farbod Hamedi – Flower of Life (Fractal Geometry of the Carpet) (IR, 2023, 2′)Artiom Constantinov – You Never Happened, You Never Existed (IT, 2023, 4′)PROGRAM 10.10.2023.Hacking, playing & (de)constructing (new) realitiesDuration: 50′André Oliveira Cebola – ultraCritical() (BR, 2023, 1′)Chris Coleman with Music by George Cicci – Threaded Tracing (US, 2023, 7′)Josh Brown – First Wave (IE, 2023, 3′)Gino Battiston – Beware Spamart (AR, 2023, 2′)Theo Rosemffet and Rocco.FX – Descontrol (ES, 2023, 6′)aitso + ex_mortal – release decay (CA, US, 2023, 2′)Jan Swinburne – CRACKERS a brief history of code (CA, 2020, 4’20)Toma Ștefănescu – Entropy (RO, 2022, 25′)Curated by:EJLA KOVAČEVIĆA freelance film critic, curator and independent/experimental cinema researcher. Thoughts on Worms games from someone who didn't grow up with any
Worms: Armageddon
I barely played this one, I didn't even know how to jump and gave up at the tutorial because I found it to be too unforgiving. Hearing about its popularity seems to have a reverse psychology effect on me, but I want to try it again at some point. I don't find it visually appealing, but the gameplay must be good if people praise it?
Worms 3D
Feels like Mayhem with janky movement physics. The worms in this game are cute, but they tend to look like they're either sad, drunk or have a case of Resting Bitch Face.
Worms Forts: Under Siege
I feel like this game is a spin-off but also not? I played through the tutorial, felt bored and confused simultaneously, didn't want to touch the game for a while afterwards, and just started the campaign yesterday only to feel that way again once I got to a level where I had to actively build. I wished I was doing something else. It was more fun watching the worms' animations than actually playing. I also hate how the camera controls feel. I probably would've liked the cancelled kart game better.
Worms 4: Mayhem
I got this one after WUM, initially to try out the free camera thingy, then test the OpenSpy patch (I haven't tried much, but I heard it doesn't work well, maybe I should just try LAN instead). Maybe I could try modding something oneday, since WUM seems to be modding-unfriendly. I don't want to play the campaign here because I know what kind of "voice acting" it has.
Worms: Revolution
This game makes me feel like an idiot. I like the worms' designs in this though, they have to be my 2nd favourite. I also recognize a lot of animations borrowed from Mayhem.
Worms: Ultimate Mayhem
This was my introductory Worms game. A friend suggested trying it back in February. We played it together via Parsec and it was funny experience. Wormpot helps spicing up the gameplay a lot. Worms flying high and far from overpowered explosions is a type of comedy. In rare occasions worms may get stuck in unexpected places, which is also funny. My first team was one with blue hair and I became attached to it, hence why that detail appears in my art a lot. The worms' design in this game has really grown on me and become my favourite.
Worms: Crazy Golf
I'm far from great and I just don't vibe with it overall.
Worms W.M.D
I'm pretty sure this was my first 2D game. I felt lost (and still do to an extent) with the amount of crafted weapons. Things tend to go wrong, but that can make it fun at times. This was also suggested by a friend, we played it together, and they used some mega destructive weapon (don't remember the name), and... let's just say it didn't always go in their favor.
Worms Rumble
I happened to be fortunate enough that a veteran player gifted me a code, so I bypassed Steam's regional restriction AND didn't spend any of my own money. There are a lot of maxed out players who can casually kick my ass, but there still are middle level and even new players I have a better chance against. As someone whose judgment isn't clouded by nostalgia, I want to say this game is... enjoyable. I only played one Battle Royale type game prior, but I didn't stick with it, maybe I chickened out. I recognize there's a problem with the number of active players: Quick Search rarely gives me Last Worm Standing and Last Squad Stading matches because they're always getting a single digit number of players. I heard there've been no updates lately and suggestions to make the game F2P. Regardless I've passed Level 25 (max is 50) and I'm certain I want to keep playing.

What Is a Learning Centre Education Franchise? Everything You Need to Know
In today's rapidly evolving education sector, the demand for personalized and supplementary learning is stronger than ever. With rising academic competition, increasing digital integration, and a growing focus on skill development, Learning Center Education Franchises have emerged as a promising opportunity for entrepreneurs and educators alike.
But what exactly is a Learning Center Education Franchise? How does it work, and is it a good business opportunity in 2025? In this comprehensive guide, we’ll explore everything you need to know—from the business model and investment potential to the benefits and steps involved in starting your own learning center franchise.
Understanding the Concept of a Learning Center Education Franchise
A Learning Center Education Franchise is a business model where an individual (the franchisee) purchases the rights to open and operate a branded educational center using the proven systems, curriculum, and support provided by the franchisor (the brand owner).
Unlike traditional schools, learning centers focus on after-school programs, academic support, test preparation, skill-based learning, and sometimes extracurricular activities like robotics, coding, or language training. These centers are designed to complement school education, helping students excel in core subjects and bridge learning gaps.
Types of Learning Center Education Franchises
The scope of a Learning Center Education Franchise can vary widely based on the focus area. Some common types include:
1. Academic Tutoring Centers
These franchises offer tutoring in subjects like Math, Science, English, and Social Studies for K-12 students. Popular examples include centers focused on CBSE, ICSE, or State Board syllabus coaching.
2. Test Preparation Centers
Targeting competitive exams such as IIT-JEE, NEET, SAT, GRE, and others, these franchises prepare students through structured coaching and mock tests.
3. Skill Development & Enrichment Centers
These offer courses in coding, robotics, public speaking, communication, critical thinking, and STEM education—skills essential for the 21st-century learner.
4. Preschool & Early Learning Centers
Focused on early childhood education, these franchises offer programs for children aged 2–6 years, emphasizing foundational learning through play.
5. Hybrid & Online Learning Franchises
Many modern learning center models offer hybrid solutions, combining offline classroom teaching with digital platforms for flexibility and reach.
Why Invest in a Learning Center Education Franchise?
✅ 1. Proven Business Model
When you invest in a franchise, you are adopting a tried-and-tested system with operational support, brand recognition, and a curriculum that has already delivered results.
✅ 2. Booming EdTech & Tutoring Industry
The Indian education sector is poised to grow exponentially, with supplementary education and tutoring services expected to cross USD 25 billion by 2025. This makes it a lucrative domain for entrepreneurs.
✅ 3. Low Risk, High Potential
Compared to launching a brand from scratch, franchising offers lower risk due to existing brand trust, marketing support, and structured guidance.
✅ 4. Support from the Franchisor
Most franchisors provide:
Teacher training & recruitment support
Marketing materials
Student curriculum & learning tools
Software and admin tools
Branding and setup support
✅ 5. Scalable and Community-Driven
Education is deeply local. A learning center can grow its reach through community engagement and referrals, making it a sustainable and fulfilling business.
Who Should Consider Starting a Learning Center Franchise?
You don’t need to be an educator to start a Learning Center Education Franchise, but having a passion for education and working with children is a huge plus. This opportunity is ideal for:
Aspiring entrepreneurs looking for a recession-proof business
Teachers or educators who want to become education entrepreneurs
Working professionals planning to switch to a more meaningful career
Retired individuals seeking a low-risk investment with community impact
Parents interested in contributing to local education
Key Steps to Start a Learning Center Education Franchise
Step 1: Research and Choose the Right Brand
Identify the niche you want to enter—tutoring, skills, preschool, etc.—and shortlist reputable franchise brands. Evaluate based on:
Brand presence
Curriculum quality
Training & support
ROI and investment details
Franchise reviews and testimonials
Step 2: Understand the Investment and Setup
Most Learning Center Education Franchises require an investment ranging from ₹3 lakhs to ₹20 lakhs, depending on location, infrastructure, and the brand. Make sure to check:
Franchise fee
Setup cost (rent, furniture, equipment)
Recurring royalty fees
Break-even point
Step 3: Sign the Agreement
Once satisfied, sign the franchise agreement which typically lasts 3–5 years. Carefully review all legal and financial terms before signing.
Step 4: Center Setup and Training
The franchisor usually helps in setting up the physical center, recruiting faculty, and training them in curriculum delivery.
Step 5: Launch and Promote
Use both online and offline marketing strategies, including social media, local events, pamphlet distribution, and school tie-ups, to attract students.
Challenges in Running a Learning Center Education Franchise
While this business is promising, it’s important to be aware of the challenges:
Local competition from other tutoring centers
Seasonal admissions can affect cash flow
Maintaining quality of teaching and student experience
Dependence on trained staff for effective delivery
Need for ongoing community engagement to build reputation
However, most of these challenges can be tackled with the right franchisor support, consistent marketing, and community involvement.
How Is the Learning Center Franchise Model Evolving in 2025?
The concept of a Learning Center Education Franchise is no longer limited to chalk-and-board classrooms. In 2025, the model has evolved to include:
Hybrid learning formats (offline + online)
AI-powered learning tools for personalized education
Gamified platforms for increased student engagement
Data-driven performance tracking
Parent dashboards for real-time updates
With these innovations, modern learning centers are becoming smarter, scalable, and more student-centric than ever before.
Real-Life Success Stories
Many small-town entrepreneurs have turned their Learning Center Education Franchise into profitable businesses with strong community goodwill. For instance:
A homemaker in Jaipur turned her franchise into a ₹10 lakh/year business within 18 months.
A retired teacher in Coimbatore now mentors over 200+ students annually.
A young entrepreneur in Pune built three learning centers within 3 years under the same franchise model.
These stories reflect how accessible and rewarding this opportunity can be with dedication and the right guidance.
Final Thoughts
The rise of Learning Center Education Franchises in India and globally is a testament to the increasing demand for quality supplementary education. Whether you're passionate about teaching, driven by entrepreneurship, or simply looking for a sustainable business model with long-term returns, investing in a learning center franchise could be the right path.
As education continues to evolve, being a part of a structured, student-focused, and innovation-driven franchise system ensures that you're not only making profits but also making a lasting impact in your community.
Ready to empower the next generation while building your own future? The journey begins with a Learning Center Education Franchise.
