After almost a month of walking around with this tech in his head, Rowan still isn’t quite used to the sensation: not pain as such—not unless he strains the magnification function to the max—but a weird, diluted flavor of vertigo. In the magnified view, he thinks he can see movement between a jagged mound of debris and a shipping container that, even zoomed in, is barely the size of a Clicky Brick. “IRIS, scan current view for life forms, please.” Current view out of scanner range. Of course.

Hear Fear: An Interview With John Cale (1974)

Since we were talking about Joe Boyd yesterday, here's the guy Boyd introduced to Nick Drake one fateful day in 1970, which resulted in some of the most beautiful music ever made — "Fly" and "Northern Sky." John Cale! What a dude. You could fantasize about further John/Nick collabs for the rest of your life, but what we've got is exquisite enough.

A few years after the Bryter Later sessions, Cale returned to England to record his Island Records debut, the classic Fear, which turns 50 years old right ... about ... now. Even though it's certainly harder-edged and more outwardly deranged than its pastoral predecessor Paris 1919, Fear is more than just paranoid ravings — far more! It's filled with lovely balladry, dreamy arrangements, playful humor.

To celebrate a half-century of Fear, we've got Hear Fear, a rare-ish promo item sent around to radio stations at the time, featuring an interview with Cale and snippets from the LP. Never one for braggadocio, John is typically self-critical about the album; he seems a little more excited about his current project — a covers album featuring a reggae version of "God Only Knows," Dylan's "Girl From The North Country," "I Can See For Miles" and "Eight Miles High." Needless to say, this record never emerged, though apparently John got as far as recording the Brian Wilson tune with the St. Paul Cathedral Choir. God only knows that we NEED to hear that someday.

I finally found time today to organize and tidy up! I’m loving my apartment already it’s looking very cozy and cute, I can’t wait to share more pictures! But for now I hope these snippets are good enough!

I saw that flower lamp online a month ago and knew I had to find it! I searched various tj max stores and I kind of gave up and forgot about it… it wasn’t til last week I went back to the store to pick up a birthday present for a friend, I thought.. since I’m here.. I might as well check? And it took me a while tbh I almost settled for another lamp but then I saw this one, the last one, in the color I wanted, tucked away in the back. I felt like it was fate!⋆˚｡⋆˚

I have too many trinket trays… I must admit.. but I also have many things to put in them ^_^’

I actually want to show off these lil guys! They’re super small, but super cute! Little heart locket earrings and they actually open! I found this at my work for $3. I should wash them though maybe they’ll look brighter and more cute!I don’t really wear these though, I’m a little afraid I’ll lose them and I usually wear my hair down so I don’t get to show them off ;-; a tragedy!!!

I’ve been going to the gym and jogging a lot lately as well, I think it’s doing wonders for me ^_^ (hasn’t kept me off tumblr of course lol)

My work had employee appreciation day last week, basically we’re allowed to purchase things the same day they’re out on the sale floor and we get 50% off anything and everything! I did some shopping for things around the home that I really needed (STORAGE CONTAINERS!!! For my terrible shopping habits 。°(°.◜ᯅ◝°)°。) but I also managed to find some cute clothing (of course…) this ivory lace dress is actual vintage! Has the union made label and she’s stunning ᡣ𐭩ྀིྀི₊ ⊹ I’m not sure if it’s a 50s wedding dress or a 80s does 50s kind of situation but either way it’s really lovely!

You can tag this under 50 Shades, but after I read this post from Hoyolab, hoyolab (.) com/#/article/19978642/, if this is true, I am very disappointed about this direction, though it is one I've seen coming. That being said, you've given your thoughts on the writing. In your ideal world, where would the cards post 2nd anniversary have gone, if you had to keep the general situation/environment, but could change up everything else about it?

holy fuck, the way i actually agree with everything in this post. here is the link for those curious, it's a fantastic read tbh.

a few of us in our tot discord have discussed this as well. here are a few brief snippets below.

sorry for the incoherent mess of thoughts below, words are Not coming easy HAHA.

but yeah... like the post said, barbie is a very good way of putting it.

i used to have the same issue with luke. i'm not a huge fan of characters being good at Too Many Things, especially when there's no flaws to balance it out. it really pulls me out of the story. so like. the more you try to impress me with a character, the less impressed i'll be. which. is why i haaaate artem's newer cards.

see, the thing is, the whole reason why i liked artem in the first place is because of how he felt like the down to earth option. he wasn't the childhood friend/undercover agent/detective/stem genius, he wasn't a ceo and son of the richest family in stellis, and he wasn't literal royalty. he was just a lawyer who worked with rosa. he was bad at talking to people. he was a bit of a homebody. he was LAME. completely inexperienced in romance. he was good at his job, but it was obvious he put all of his skill points into being a lawyer and no where else. his abilities with shooting and cooking were both important aspects to his character, but the skills hoyoverse added beyond that just baffle me.

he wasn't cool, but he was kind and genuine.

ever since second anniversary, there has been absolutely no consistency to artem's character whatsoever.

neil gets mentioned less and less even though he was a major part of artem's life AND character. neil was his father figure, since his parents were rarely, if ever, around. and yet, in recent cards, tot constantly goes out of its way to try and convince us artem's parents did nothing wrong. to add to that, we're lucky if neil is even mentioned.

in earlier cards, it was very clear artem was grieving neil's disappearance (see: entwined fate). it was also clear artem's childhood circumstances were extremely lonely and caused him to try and brush off the neglect because he didn't want to stress out his already busy parents (see: loving memories and his dreams of childhood sr)! earlier cards also hinted at traumatic events and a fear of firearms due to how dangerous neil's job as a lawyer was (see: focus fire).

but for god knows what reason, newer cards said well! fuck all of this! artem no longer gives one single shit about neil! also? honestly? the writers seem confused and disoriented by artem downplaying his childhood issues and just made it so he truly Had no issues with his childhood. which. ok. i guess.

in recent months, we have not had one single card where rosa and artem sit down to talk about how artem feels about neil's disappearance. one single card where artem even openly addresses any traumatic experiences. or emotional neglect in childhood.

remember when focus fire mentioned that a disgruntled mafia member held him and neil at gunpoint because he was pissed neil put everyone else in the gang behind bars?? no?? yeah, me neither! because it's never mentioned again! old tot content implies it was incidents like these, the general emotional neglect from his parents, and neil's disappearance that contributed to artem's closed off personality. but man, fuck that! for some reason!

this doesn't even touch upon artem's romantic and sexual inexperience, which has also been entirely undone. he's a sex god now, i guess.

and let us not forget how artem has learned and forgot the same lessons like, several times. artem did we not learn why jealousy and possessiveness are bullshit in atmospherics, por una cabeza, etc...??? are we really back at this again? and it's not even being addressed as a character flaw anymore? okay! okay. fine! whatever.

but okay. i'm getting off track. you asked me an entirely different question! where would i have liked to have seen the cards go? i think the cards following second anniversary are so... well, nothing that you could probably swap out the plots and avoid losing anything of importance.

honestly, i think artem's cards would have shined the best if they stuck to his original character. so when considering the confines we have now:

artem is extremely emotionally repressed. it'd take time for him to come out of his shell. and his early dating cards do begin like this! it's very endearing! several cards could focus on this progression as he becomes more comfortable and relaxed with rosa. progression into being engaged. living with someone for the first time. please.

rosa and artem's dynamic has like, vanished in recent cards. which is a goddamn shame, because their more comfortable dynamics in his railroad, revisiting youth, and snowfallen secrets cards are so charming! they joke around! artem's sense of humor pokes out! they act like real PEOPLE! they're silly! they're nerds! they're equals! i'd keep this dynamic instead of it just being artem flipping back and forth between sex god and "yes i will do whatever you want [insert player name here]"

neil. please, can we focus on neil. what being a lawyer means to artem. how neil influenced that. how artem feels about neil being gone, how artem feels about neil's possible betrayal of the nxx?? he could always have an arc of going through the stages of grief, or learning to look at things through a new lens. being sad neil won't be around for milestones. etc.

the incidents implied in focus fire. okay, being held at gunpoint is pretty uhhh fucking traumatic. did any other events happen bc of neil's status? his parents' statuses? is this why he is so emotionally repressed? is this why he takes the law so seriously?

his parents. can we stop acting like his parents did nothing wrong. please. his parents used to be portrayed under the "well meaning but ultimately very flawed" light, which i adored. it was grey. it was human. maybe artem could learn that it wasnt right of his parents to be so nonexistent in his life. his parents can still love him and make mistakes. maybe he could rebuild his relationship w his parents? maybe once he realizes what he went through wasn't normal, he can be angry, and work through it. idk! anything! please!

more focus on rosa. her studies. her exams. anything. her family. her past. her hobbies. her teaching artem something. rosa talking about her issues. pelase. Please.

it truly feels like his original writers got swapped out, and the new ones have no idea what artem's charm was in the first place. they have no idea how his character even works, so they're just desperately trying to attach Cool Hobbies to him bc they think he's more boring than the other boys when like. that's the fucking point, that IS his charm.

Heiter, Eisen, Frieren and Himmel stood together in one line, looking at the cavernous entrance in front of them. After leaving the Granat Domain, the party had travelled north and reached the long Schwer mountain range separating the Central Lands and Northern Plateau. They were going to travel through a small mountain passage that was going bring them straight through the mountain range. Alas, as fate would have it, due to recent events, the passage had collapsed. A large landslide had destroyed the road and completely blocked the way forward.

The party was faced with three choices – try braving the rugged terrain until they reach an intact section of the passage, go back and travel for several days eastward to reach another road OR pass through the Heubamm ruins that passed all the way under the mountains.

The party, not wanting to risk spending the rainy autumn out in the wilderness had chosen the third option but now… they may have started regretting it.

“What ruins?! This is a dungeon, isn’t it?!” – Himmel pointed at the entrance ahead.

“It is a dungeon. I think I saw a giant rat running inside a moment ago. Why do monsters always get in uninhabited buildings?! There’s more than enough forest to go around but it’s like they are attracted to it like flies to jam!” – Heiter aggressively wiped his glasses.

“Should not have trusted that shady-looking guy when asking for directions.” – Frieren stared ahead.

“I am sure we’ll be fine.” Eisen tried to reassure everyone “This is not our first dungeon, I think we’ll be fine.”

Three heads turned to look at the dwarf in unison.

“We’re doomed.” – Heiter sighed.

#   𝐈𝐊𝐈𝐑𝐘𝐎𝐌𝐈   -  independent, low-activity, headcanon-based  𝙺𝙸𝙺𝚈𝙾  from the anime / manga of the feudal fairytale titled 𝑖𝑛𝑢𝑦𝑎𝑠𝘩𝑎. re-established once again, with mix portrayal of both the anime and manga kept in mind, but overall considered to be canon-divergent. cherished forever by ailli ( she / 25+ ) and formerly known as : ofbellflowers.

GUIDELINES / QUICK RULE SNIPPET

1) this was a childhood series for me, and because of that it has been a very long time since i genuinely engaged with this content. because of this, there are a great many things i have forgotten and while i will attempt to rewatch / re-read certain scenes, my main focus will primarily be of kikyo and her role.

2) the love triangle, while it was a major component to the canon characterization of certain characters, it will not be for my kikyo. she will always carry complicated feelings for those two, but it will still carry a deep level of respect and distance. i, of course, will not force anyone to fit in my interpretation and i would appreciate to be given that same courtesy. the ship war is stupid, kikyo just wanna pick flowers with kids. 

3) there is a very big difference between kikyo who was alive 50 years ago and the kikyo was remade 50 years later. a large component was how living kikyo’s powers was greatly connected to her emotions, and how she pushed herself to be exceptionally different from other humans. undead kikyo is not confined to this limitation. her powers is no longer intertwined with her emotions, nor is she as restricted as before. this blog focuses on the newer outlook she receives, her fascination, her pettiness, the joy / pain of re-living again, and accepting the inevitability of her fate. kikyo will always be a powerful priestess regardless of timelines, and i will not limit the extent of her abilities and intuition in anyway. her death(s) were very circumstantial and will not represent the gauges of her overall capabilities.

4) over all, this blogs want to put an emphasis about “how healthy it is to move on” and for kikyo to truly experience that. i want her to establish long-lasting relationships and explore how it would influence her. friendships who can empathize with her, kin-ship and familial ties who can allow her to further her own personal growth. relationships are important, and frankly i want people to see that kikyo is more socially awkward than how she presents herself. 

5) I DO NOT PRACTICE EXLUSIVITY WITH ANYONE, especially given how small this fandom is. however i do practice having multiple main with blogs i have plotted with.  needless to say this blog is single-ship with : kaimettsu cause ahem he pretty.

okay well. 50 minutes later i have over a full page of single spaced hangsaman ramblings in my google drive so. pasting it all here i guess

HNatalie herself asks the question of whether or not she is even a real person, and sometimes she can see other images of other lives so so clearly

Mr. Waite tells Natalie in a letter that he relies on her existence as his daughter for him to be a father and tells her that she is responsible for his existence as well as his. “If you abandon me, you lose yourself”

? Natalie Waite = Natalie, wait! she is waiting. lol

Natalie spends time under dark trees. Tony appears when Natalie is outside alone at night. Natalie’s implied sexual assault takes place outside at night in the woods in the dark on a fallen tree, dead wood.

Tony leads Natalie to the dark woods, a carnival is mentioned, but never seen. The promise of some fun childlike adventure never realized, much like the daydreams that Tony and Natalie discuss. (dark Frances Ha)

I don’t think it’s important whether or not Tony is real, what’s important is that by the end Natalie is in such a dark place that she is wandering around dark roads at night where it is not safe

Natalie knows that she will never see Tony again. I have seen different possible interpretations for the reason.

- Tony was never real. Although that does leave other questions unanswered. Whose room was Natalie sleeping in? Who did Elizabeth see talking to Natalie on the porch during the party?

- Tony was a real student, just as lost and unwell as Natalie seemed to be, who led Natalie into the dark woods and Natalie got too scared and left her there alone, her fate unknown, a missing college student (i think i do favor this one just a little bit, but i’m not committed and it’s not imporant)

- Tony was a real student and Natalie killed her in the woods. Possibly foreshadowed by Natalie’s detective in the first part of the novel. (i think its more symbolic but more on that in a bit)

- It’s also possible that Natalie is the one who dies in the woods and never comes out and that her leaving the woods is a fantasy (i don’t really see this one personally)

- No single one of these ideas ring true to me on their own. The ambiguity of all of these ideas is what makes the story so haunting to me. Tony may or may not have been a real person, but by leaving the woods without her, Natalie does kill her in a way, be it literal or symbolic. Natalie is in the dark woods under the trees sitting on a fallen tree and she is afraid and she leaves. And then, having chosen to walk out of the dark woods and having chosen to walk home, she is not afraid anymore. she has life and tony does not. and any boundaries between them no longer seem relevant

Notable to me is that the couple who picks her up are not her parents (could they be Tony’s parents? A chilling thought) and they are not students at the college nor are they faculty. They are Natalie’s first meaningful interaction with anyone from outside the family and outside the school.

The one-armed man? All i can think about is Twin Peaks but this pre-dates that so. I got nothing right now, he did feel symbolic and Natalie possibly saw him or at least had the idea of him at the end

Hangsaman the folk song.

- Mother and father are not coming to save the singer from the gallows tree. Mother and Father are not coming to save Natalie

- The true love is the one who comes to pay the fee. Is Tony both the true love and the adversary that Natalie must defeat to walk away?

- Narratively, Tony does die so that Natalie might live. Is that the fee that is paid?

- The snippet at the beginning, however, does not mention the fee being paid, only that the true love is coming. Somewhere there is something is waiting for you and loves you and thinks you are beautiful and it will be so wonderful and so fine

- Slack your rope hangman don’t hang me from the hanging tree, someone somewhere waiting loves only me!

as i have stated re: hangsaman (spoilers ahead btw and also spoilers for the movie suckerpunch lol) i dont really care a lot about whether or not anything "really" happened like idk its ambiguous and i think thats compelling and trying to figure out whether tony was really another student or just a manifestation of natalie's isolation idk its not really important to me its not super relevant. the hanged man the life in death either way tony is gone and now natalie lives. and idk honestly i do kind of like the bait and switch idea of tony being the student who disappeared instead of natalie kind of like the ending of suckerpunch. like natalie finds the one other girl at college whos as crazy as she is until she realizes actually wait no i can walk away from this. yes i realize this means that natalie left her friend alone in the dark woods to god knows what. but idk. sometimes people go down roads you cant follow.
