Here’s the promised next part of the TimKon clone baby AU!! The title I’ve given it is “I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always,” or ILYF! It’s a children’s book I adore and thought matched with this storyline! And I’ll post the other options too, don’t worry. The commenting of sad faces got me.
“You want me to what now?” Barbra the Oracle Gordon asked, and just her gaze already made Kon feel smaller.
“Do a DNA test on a possibly alien baby that came from a tube in a lab?” Kon repeated, a sheepish grin on his face. He held out tube-baby, lion king style, hoping his adorableness would win her over. The tired sigh he got in return seemed promising.
“You think…he’s yours?” She seemed unsure, and gently pulled his baby into her arms. Despite her secure hold, Kon had the irrational urge to snarl. “He looks more like Tim to me.”
“I was thinking more along the lines of…both of us.” Kon chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of his neck. He instinctively reached his TTK out to wrap around tube-baby and keep him safe. Barbara raised an eyebrow and held him up, seemingly comparing the two, then hummed thoughtfully.
“Alright. I’ll DNA test him. I’m guessing you didn’t find any information on him at this lab?” She asked, handing him back. Immediately, he felt better, nuzzling the soft tuft of hair on the baby’s head.
“You know who we’re talking about here, right?”
She laughed and nodded, before wheeling back over to her fancy computer and typing faster than even Tim. It was almost satisfying to watch. “I’ll hack into his files to see what I can find. In the meantime, what’s his name?”
Oh. Right.

Just encountered something that made me so viscerally mad I had to stop everything I was doing and scream about it into the void (you are the void, tumblr, thank you for your time)
Ever seen that little test tube icon at the top of your Google search? That's Search Labs.
Tumblr media
This led me to reading about all the "experiments" they have going on and OH BOY, this is the one that got me mad enough to actually leave feedback (bear in mind I like NEVER leave comments or reviews on things so you know it's bad)
Tumblr media
Of all the "experiments" they are launching with their Search Labs, this one is the most egregiously transparent attempt to capitalize on the human brain's superiority over a computer's.
I see what they are doing.
"Look at these auto generated images and try your best to tell us what you think the original prompt is! Teehee, isn't this a fun test? Don't you want to have fun?? Play our game, uwu".
This is about as blatant as you can get: they want to train their Ai to get better at generating its frankly often garbage results by using real people to tell it how it could have done better.
My guess as to why Google is even doing this: ◽️Let’s say you use of one of Google's programs to generate an image based on your own personal written prompt (I know YOU wouldn't, fair tumblr user, but stay with me here)
◽️You are subsequently frustrated at the slop Google generated for you, and select a button that says something along the lines of "I am not satisfied with this result".
◽️This auto-triggers something on Google's end, which I assume captures this response along with the image it is attached to.
◽️Now, they can put that picture in front of thousands of unwitting people who can tell Google EXACTLY what "prompt" they associate with that image instead. Exactly the words that it SHOULD be tagged with.
These pieces of ai "art" are NOT good, let me make that clear. What financial benefit would Google have to present a panel of testers with perfectly generated images? To make this game in the first place? The only way ai can advance is when humans tell it what it did wrong. Because the computer doesn't fucking know what a raven vs a writing-desk is. It needs us to give it the words to think. Poor baby gets confused when we are vague. :(
All this under the guise of a cutesy little "test". A "game".
This is not fun, and it is extremely scummy. Do better Google. Be better. I'm attaching some screenshots of the first "level" so you too can enjoy the art of prompting!!! (she says with so much dry sarcasm the Deserts of Arrakis spontaneously turn into an ocean)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And to have the audacity to show the actual real pieces of art made by real artists that they trained this stupid machine with. Fuck entirely off.

WAR NEVER CHANGES. BUT,
WARFARE NEVER STOPS CHANGING
"I've seen countless reasons why most mech pilots don't make the cut, but one of the largest hurdles are the physical alterations. The implants and modifications done to the fleshware is so extreme that it's enough to push most would-be pilots away from day 1.
Back in the day, when mech tech was still in its wild west years, when the technology was still in its infancy, things were different. Levers, joysticks, switches, a chair, most of the first models were something between the cockpit of a construction vehicle and a fighter ship.
Pilots in those days still consisted largely of the usual suspects. Test pilots, army jocks, space force veterans looking for something new, the occasional crazy who lucked their way up the ranks. All you needed back then was to be fit enough to work complex machinery. 'Handler's wouldn't be a coined phrase for nearly a decade. I still remember being a kid and seeing repurposed older models in the mech fighting streams.
Everything changed with the Bidirectional Cerebellum Computer Interface. To say nothing of how it changed civilian life, it was a military marvel. The BiCCI saw the creation of Mechs as we understand them today. The first generation were just retrofits, older models with a pilot's chair, and even manual controls to use in an emergency, but even then we knew that was only temporary. Before long, sleek frames of sharp angles, railguns and plasma cannons were rolling off the factory floor.
Like many things, it began small, optimising first for cockpit space by removing the manual controls. Before long, my then-supervisors thought, "Why have this glass? Why not hook the pilot's eyesight right into the advanced multi-spectral camera system? Before long, cockpits were but soft harnesses made to house a living body, their very soul wired into the machinery. Obviously, for security reasons, I cannot tell you everything about how our latest cockpits work, but suffice to say we've been further blurring the line between pilot and frame ever since.
This drew a very different crowd. Out were the army jocks and powerlifters. The only ones who even dared to have the interface hardware installed into their brainstem and spinal cord were the dispossessed, the misanthropes, those who sought not to control their new body, but to be controlled by it. No AI can work a mech properly on its own, but our pilots are never really in full control either anymore. Those who do try to go against the symbiosis get a nosebleed at best, and vegetative seizures at worst.
And that was that. The only people left who pilots these things are those who had already been broken, those who sougt a permenant reprive from being anything resembling human. A lot of my department quit around this time. I've lost a few friends over it, I'm not shy to say. Did we knew we'd be bringing in the more vulnerable people? Of course we did. But, the wheels of progress must turn, as they say, and it wasn't like we were shy of volunteers.
In our latest models, we have refined an even more advanced frame. Again, security detail prevents me from divulging too much, but one breakthrough we've made is decreasing action latency by approximately 0.02s by amputating the limbs from our pilots and replacing them with neural interface pads.
Using the pads where the limbs once were, pilots are screwed directly into the cockpit, which itself can now be 30% smaller thanks to the saved space. And, of course, we provide basic humanoid cybernetics as part of their employment contract while they are with us. Not that most of them are ever voluntarily out of their cockpits long enough to make use of them. Even removing the tubes from their orifices for routine cleaning incurs a large level of resistence.
And, yes, some of them scream, some of them break, some become so catatonic that they might as well be a peripheral processor for their mech's AI. But not a single one, not even one pilot, in all the dolls i've ever trained, have ever accepted the holidays we offer, the retirement packages, the stipends.
As you say, there are those who like to call me a monster for my work. I can see why. After all, they don't see the way my pilots' crotches dribble when I tell them I'll be cutting away their limbs, or the little moans they try to hide when we first meet and I explain that they'd forever be on the same resource level as a machine hereafter.
Those who call me a monster don't realise that, even after going public with how we operate our pilots, even after ramping up mech frame production, we still have more than twice as many volunteers as frames.
Those who call me a monster cannot accept that my pilots are far happier as a piece of meat in a machine of death than as the shell of a human they once were.
Those who call me a monster never consider the world my pilots grew up in to make them suitable candidates in the first place."

Consider Chromic Chloride and Chlorophyll
So in the most recent 650K stream it was sort of confirmed that Test Tube is fluorescein. Now to the uninitiated, when you look up fluorescein you get images like this:
Tumblr media
So of course it makes sense that people think that this makes sense, she is ALSO a bright green color right? So it fits perfectly. However there's some issues.
For one, fluorescein only glows this brightly under UV light. Under normal inside lighting it looks more like this:
Tumblr media
And under sunlight more like this:
Tumblr media
While under the sun it does look quite green, it's still pretty yellow, no? And I wouldn't assume that her inside lighting perfectly matches the sun.
And Test Tube isn't "mostly yellow with green glow"! She isn't Mtn Dew, she is more like the pure green on a computer screen or something (at least in her second season):
Tumblr media
So what else could she be? For a second I will be ignoring the weird staining properties her liquid has an focusing solely on color. (Though to be fair to the team, Fluorescein stains literally anything and everything)
Initially I thought of salt solutions, since that was what first came to mind when I thought of naturally green liquids, and I found my contender there. Introducing Chromic Chloride!
Tumblr media
I feel like that's pretty dang close to her green, no? Furthermore, it's not bright green under UV, that's just how Chromic Chloride looks like. To me, the second to last vial looks the closest (and a good argument could be made that the third to last vial also looks like her third season appearance)
And then I discovered chlorophyll:
Tumblr media
Look at that color. That is literally Test Tube right there. Now, most chlorophyll looks muddy because all the other plant stuff hasn't been filtered out, but pure chlorophyll like this is a really pure, really Test Tube-y green color.
I think Chlorophyll is the best candidate for a Test Tube color (and it's pretty good at staining stuff, even if it's not the ungodly stain that fluorescein is).
Oh, and fun fact, Chlorophyll fluoresces bright red under UV!

hi i was wondering if you would be able to answer this: what is the purpose of the fluo paint teams seem to add during testing? as well as what are the wire meshes they add behind the front wheels?
My favourite question
Let me introduce you to the world of F1 testing and its two shining stars, flow vis and aero rakes.
Flow Vis
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Flow vis is a fluorescent powder paint that is mixed with oil (typically paraffin) and painted onto the car before it goes out on track.
Once the car goes out and does some laps the oily paint mixture is pushed around the car and the oil evaporates leaving the paint behind, and in this paint you will see the flow patterns of the air around the structures of the car
The engineers will be able to visualise where the airflow is separating and compare that to the data they have from the wind tunnel and to the data from their computer models.
Essentially flow vis allows them to visualise the air flow
Aero Rake
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The big metal cages, usually around the front or rear wheels are called aero rakes or aerodynamic rakes, and what they are is a massive series of sensors namely pitot tubes which measure dynamic pressure.
These sensors measure the pressure of the airflow off the tyres, the wings and generally the pressure of the airflow around the car, in order to paint a picture of what is happening to the airflow and how they can minimise disturbance in the airflow
With both flow vis and aero rakes it’s a way for engineers and aerodynamicists to see what is actually going on with the airflow around the car on the track, both with visual cues (flow vis) and data (aero rakes) and then being able to compare their findings with the simulations

Hai! It’s ur fav Idia anon😈😈😈😈😈😈😈😈 okay hear me out, Idia with a half frank stein half cyborg reader. Like reader has an electric heart and organs but a human brain and is like made out of like ten dead human parts, oil for blood type. So Idia is just like checking up on their vital robot organs on his computer, like using wires to connect to reader’s organs (entry thing on back??) while reader is on his lap, just relaxing and chilling, and u can interpret the rest😝😝😝😝😝
[Yes you are my favourite Idia anon😁]
(Tw: mild body horror mentions, nothing gory, just wires and weird organs. Soft vibes override.)
The room is bathed in a neon-blue glow, flickering slightly as a screen updates line after line of data—pulses, pressure, charge levels, synaptic fire. All of it you.
“Okay, okay… entry port's clean, transmission’s stable…” Idia mutters, fingers dancing across his keyboard, fast as lightning, faster than your own synthetic nerve relays. His hair pulses in hues of cerulean and violet, glowing brighter every time your vitals spike. Which they do. Every time you shift in his lap.
You’re leaned back against his chest, legs folded sideways over his, like a puzzle piece slotted in place. Calm. Almost sleepy. Like it’s normal to have a bunch of cables trailing from the base of your spine, connecting your bio-mechanical organs directly into Idia’s rig.
Your heart? Electric. Hums like an engine when you're content. Your lungs? Powered by soft hydraulic pulses that compress with a hiss and expand with a shudder. And Idia? Well, he’s obsessed.
Not in the "science project" kind of way. More like the "I can't believe you're real and I get to be the only one who gets this close to your wiring" kind of way.
"How’re you feeling?" he asks, voice unusually quiet. His hand’s resting over your sternum, right above the casing where your electric heart clicks and pulses like a steady metronome.
"Warm," you murmur. “Even with the oil circulation. Feels… nice.”
That makes him freeze for a nanosecond. Nice. Nice? YOU think it’s nice??? His brain blue-screens. You’re literally half-built from corpses and spare parts—there’s tubing under your skin instead of veins, a synth-liver that processes coolant, and an actual operating system that pings him when your battery’s low. And you're just… on his lap like a cat.
“Uhh… yeah… obviously it’s nice. My setup is, like, peak comfort optimization. Nothing less for my… my um…”
He trails off.
You blink up at him. “Your…?”
"...My favorite test subject." He coughs. Loudly. “N-not in a creepy way!! Just, like, statistically you’re the one I monitor the most, so it’s just accurate, you know?? Purely clinical—"
You tilt your head back a little more so you can look up at him with that half-synthetic eye of yours that flickers softly when you smile.
“Idia.”
He stiffens.
"You don't need to short-circuit over every compliment."
"...I d-don’t short-circuit." (He does.) (He literally does. Your neural link picks up a micro surge in his output whenever you’re too close. Which is always.)
Still, he leans down, brushing his nose against the crown of your head. “Just sayin’. No one else gets to do this. Monitor you, I mean. Tinker. Maintain. You’ve got, like, a whole corpse-Wi-Fi situation going on, and I’m the only one who knows the password.”
You hum again. You like that. The idea of belonging—not as a project, but as a person only he understands.
“Okay, diagnostics are good. All organ-tech’s running smooth. Heartbeat's in the sweet zone. No overheating.” He lets the wires retract with a whirr, but doesn’t move you off his lap. If anything, he wraps his arms a little tighter around your waist. “Guess I’ll just keep you here a little longer. For observation. You know. For science.”
You smile, letting your body rest fully against him, your cold frame soaking in his heat.
“Sure, doc. For science.”
