I just had a ~☆thought☆~
The new birthday cards series is about pyjamas and morning routines right?
We got Jamil without any makeup right?
...
That means we'll see Rook’s freckles again RIGHT?!

Howdy! Forgot to ask this on the quiz, so I'll ask here:
Do you ever get tired of the worldbuilding in your works? Like, do you ever want to include some whimsy magic, but the pre-set rules of the world don't allow you?
Also, I might have missed it, but is the concept of the "players code" a thing in your story? We talking admin panels, lag, etc
Just curious, have a nice day!
Ouuu those are two really good questions! I'll answer the code one first, since i think it's important to the dbhc story and something people should know if they didn't previously notice it:
My understanding/headcanon/conceptualization for Hermitcraft (and dbhc, by extension), is that the world and players are very much comprised of code. Code is to the fabric of their minecraft reality like atoms are to the fabric of our reality, and Admins (opped players, i suppose) have special access to and responsibility over this code: they can see into it and adjust or fix errors to ensure players are kept safe and worlds are managed well.
This is perhaps most obviously seen in the "A Delightful new Partnership begins!" Comic in which Xisuma notices something isn't sitting right in the code around him and takes out his 'control panel/admin panel/console/etc' to investigate. I talk about it in a little more detail in my breakdown post of this comic, where I talk about the possibility of 24 getting access to the code, scrambling it up, and not really knowing how it works enough to put things back right. It's also implied that he may be manipulating/messing with Xisuma's memories by deleting parts of X's player code (I note that i didn't want the glitch effects to necessarily be associated with android-y effects), as we see him forget parts of this encounter and constantly shifting in and out of place as he gives unsettlingly neutral/positive/encouraged answers to a manipulative and intimidating Android 24.
I also love incorporating like, console commands into the comics and au :D such as '/clear queued visual cache' from Don't Let It Reach The Heart :] Though i know it's different since he's an android hehe
I also just think code integration into a 'realistic' interpretation of Minecraft-based stories opens the door for really fun translations of Video Game experiences (i.e., interpreting lag as something like disorientation, disassociation, or misalignment between a player's code and the world's). It's super fun to think about so I love making it part of these stories :D
Regarding worldbuilding! I don't think I've really grown tired of it, as far as I know (assuming you're primarily asking about dbhc, but i would say the following goes for my original works, too): When it comes to storytelling and worldbuilding, I have a very very, uh, logically-tracked mind about things? The reason things happen and the way things work all need to make sense within whatever system i've chosen/come up with/been working in, so I often have a lot of fun (or experience a lot of turmoil) trying to make events and characterizations fit within that world. If I ever have a new idea that doesn't fit in that pre-determined set of rules, I either: move on pretty quickly, not lingering on things that wouldn't be possible so I can find ideas or variations of the non-conforming thought that *would* work, OR try to think of fun ways to make a non-conforming idea work by developing a new rule that still coexists with previous ones (i.e., maybe there's an exception in the way the world works for reason x/y/z, and the more i develop that possibility, it could make previous characters or ideas more complex in turn! It's like a very fun puzzle to me, and it's why i love storytelling so much :D

(Suggestive ish?) Android Joel anon again. Between lighthearted jokes and quips Tango finds himself geniunely stumped by the craftsmanship of Joel's circuits and construction. Lost for a better word, Tango can only breathlessly utter out "gorgeous". I imagine one of the easy to remove panels for maintance being the lower abdomen-pubic area, Joel is seated almost like at the OBGYN for inspection. But instead of being medical and uncomfortable, Joel feels almost revered. As Joel's cooling unit grows noisier, Tango looks up to see Joel shily covering his mouth with one hand and looking away, visibly blushing
ANON. I love this, I am thoroughly obsessed even. Thinking about this now. Like saying this was probably so natural to Tango to say that type of stuff about machinery that he doesn't reflect on it at all, instead becoming a bit concerned and obsessive that he might have broken something or provoked Joel's pain response so he takes his sweet extra time to not let his powers of observation unparalleled TM to miss anything and he is being extra delicate in Literally carefully rearrange Joel's guts. And in the meantime Joel goes more and more insane with every second Tango practically gets head into his inner parts of the shell. He can't help but look down on Tango located between his legs and record it for 'future revision' because the emotional response he is getting from this is literally unprecedented and he would like to find out what in the world is happening. But alone, where his sensors aren't being overwhelmed. Meanwhile Tango is losing his mind, because he cannot find any problem with Joel's circuitry, wiring or anything, but he still can hear the cooling system working overtime so he at this point has to rise his head to look into Joel's eyes and outright ask if something is wrong and if he needs a shut down. Joel, totally speechless and colour of a synthetic analog of blood is very visible on his face, quickly averts his gaze and shake his head in "negative". That's probably when the situation started to catching up with Tango and he realises the... position they are in. Which make him wish he had a cooling system too because his face felt like it was ignited instantaneously.

As if we would go anywhere without our loyal android. Alistair is coming, and... I think he's probably happy about it in his own way. Perhaps seeing the majesty of the first Archonexus structure will be the catalyst for his awakening? Who knows?
That does leave us with one last choice to make. I think this one is the one I'm most unsure about the result of. I had a pretty good idea where the other three were going, but this one could be the wild card. Let's find out!
For the very last time, here are our options...
Tumblr media
Why should we bring Tokori?
- He has an expertise in first aid, which will likely be an essential skill in setting up a new colony
- If his medical skill doesn't work, he can also raise the dead (nine more times, at least. Then he's out of fingers to sacrifice.)
- He's got a detoxifier lung and a detoxifier kidney, which could both be useful for dealing with pollution in our new colony
- We only just met him, so it will be a good opportunity to get to know him more
- He's a delight to draw and still has both his natural eyes so I can have fun drawing them
Why should we leave Tokori behind?
- We only just met him, so we wouldn't miss him as much as some of the others
- Mechi and Kwahu are both accomplished doctors, so we don't really need a third one
- It would feel really bad to leave Lansa all on his own at Sparks
- He would be sad if we didn't get plumbing and a bathtub set up ASAP
- Addiction to coffee in more than one person may be difficult to keep in check while we set up a new colony
- Seeing the same face drawn over and over again will surely become tedious eventually, right?
Tumblr media
Why should we bring Lansa?
- He's still getting used to being alive and needs someone responsible to keep an eye on him
- He's got untapped psycaster potential that we still need to explore
- He is the only Jones boy NOT addicted to coffee so we don't have to facilitate that in a new colony
- He's a delight to draw
Why should we leave Lansa behind?
- He's grumpy and rude and dislikes most of the other colonists already
- He hasn't been alive in this colony for very long so we won't miss him as much as some of the others
- It would feel really bad to leave Tokori all on his own at Sparks
- His bionic eyes are less fun to draw than they could be
- Seeing the same face drawn over and over again will surely become tedious eventually, right?
Tumblr media
Why should we bring Melissa?
- Having a colonist with unnatural healing abilities akin to reusable healer mech serums is op as hell and also very cool
- Even if she didn’t have creepjoiner healing powers, she has fun cancer powers
- Every new colony benefits from a creepy blind grandma
- Mechi and Kwahu owe her for saving them from duplication sickness
- She’s a delight to draw
Why should we leave Melissa behind?
- Everyone hates her more than usual because she’s super ugly
- She’s blind
- Apparently the creepjoiner unnatural healing has the potential for nasty side effects
- We haven’t had any creepjoiner negative side effects from her yet, but she’s been at an outpost which might have paused the countdown for it to show up
- She’s polyamorous, which means she’ll constantly be sad that she’s not in a relationship
Tumblr media
Why should we bring XiaoLiang?
- He’s always been there for Mechi and co., it seems appropriate for him to follow them and continue to help out
- He’s very cool
- He’s got an expertise in sharpshooting which is bound to be useful
- We might run into his grandpa Paul again and it’d be nice if they met
- He's 100% got a crush on the Jones boys and that'd be funny to watch
- He’s a delight to draw
Why should we leave XiaoLiang behind?
- Perhaps it’s time for XiaoLiang to go back to being a wandering Man in Black
- He’s an undergrounder, which means he’ll get upset if we make him go out to hunt or otherwise put his shooting expertise to good use
- He’s polyamorous, which means he’ll constantly be sad that he’s not in a relationship
- He's 100% got a crush on the Jones boys and they would be extremely annoyed having to deal with it
- His grandpa Paul might show up to Sparks again, and it’d be nice if they met
Tumblr media
Why should we bring Flapjack?
- He’s a little bit good at every skill which is very useful for starting a new colony
- He is kind, which means he’ll get along with everyone no matter how disfigured they are by flesh whips or cut-out eyes
- My brother says he has a "cool beard" and you "can't beat that"
- Looks a bit like Jesus
- He’s a delight to draw
Why should we leave Flapjack behind?
- Not a particularly interesting colonist so far
- He’s just sort of got NPC energy
- Looks a bit like Jesus
- Good at lots of skills but not great at any
Tumblr media
Why should we bring Jut?
- He’s a good boy and I love him
- Incredible melee ability which is useful for defending a new colony
- Can explode people with his mind
- We already know his creepjoiner downside (it's the "disturbing" trait) so we don't need to worry about anything more serious popping up in the future
- Sanguophage powers might be useful
- Speaks French
- He’s a delight to draw
Why should we leave Jut behind?
- He’d need to steal other people's hemogen from time to time
- He’s "disturbing" and makes the others uncomfortable sometimes
- He’s blind
- He’s French
Godspeed everyone. Put your best vote forward.

For android art can we get some clarification on what he looks like bc the pics u add to the stuff r very robotic but with some parts like putting fingers in his mouth throws me off is he like super realistic and it’s like silicone flesh like and u can’t tell he’s not human or is it like very obvious
yeah ! ! so ive always envisioned him as being an android within a universe similar to the one portrayed in the game detroit: become human (and him being created by a company similar to cyberlife; im not sure if ive directed referenced cyberlife in any of the blurbs android!art blurbs ive written so far..) (in the large android!art fic that im still working on finishing, i establish him as an AD500 model. get it? A.D.)
so, with that being said, he’s incredibly human-like. there is nothing about the way he physically looks (or feels) that would indicate that he’s an android—other than the little LED ring on his temple that shifts colors depending on how his systems are functioning. he’s warm to the touch, has soft, bouncy blonde hair, even a few little moles spattered over his body that have been added by the design team to make him feel more “personable”. if the small ring of light on the side of his head wasn’t there, you’d never be able to tell unless he somehow bled or was injured in front of you because he bleeds blue—thirium.
the pictures i use for the blurbs ive been posting are mainly chosen for aesthetic purposes and to make it clear from the get-go that the posts are about android!art. however! they are what i picture him and his body to look like when his synthetic skin is deactivated. a sleek, white, blank canvas. his chassis. and underneath that is all of the pretty wiring and artificial muscle, tendon, arteries, etc.

Sometimes it’s a blessing…
but it’s usually not…
I’ve made a sort of Stanley Parable branch story (again) which I created while doodling this. I don’t think I have the attention span to make another comic, but I like it enough to impulsively show it to you. As of now, it has no name. I have ideas, but alas.
Name Ideas:
Revenge of The Computer Virus
Curse of The Lawsuit
Story of Paperwork
Now with Printer Jam
Beyond Sequel
(Yes, these are the Sequel Title prompts. I thought it would be funny…)
Tumblr media
The idea is that Stanley befriends one of the computers, which talks to him instead of The Narrator (The Narrator is not pleased by this). There’s all this mess with him and The Curator on what it even is and what they should do about it, before it starts saying really weird stuff.
Tumblr media
Eventually, it tells Stanley to do something weird with the game files, which he doesn’t understand, but after an argument with The Narrator, something changes and it is released from the computer. Yes, it is The Timekeeper.
Tumblr media
It finds Stanley, offers him a new story, and puts The Narrator where they were in the computer land or whatever. Stanley just wants to leave mostly, and doesn’t understand why he has to stay, really. They give him infinite stories, but slowly start to take away the choice, before he goes to look for The Narrator or The Curator or Mariella or someone, only to find that they’re all gone.
He sees The Narrator in one of the computer monitors and gets him out somehow. Finds The Curator and Mariella and The Timekeeper realises what is being done and puts them all there just for funsies, continuing the story on their own.
Tumblr media
Blah blah blah, eventually we figure out that The Timekeeper is a previous version of Stanley who went a little power hungry and took over the game, but The Narrator still forgot about it entirely, somehow. They get really close to winning, they see what happens when “the wheel stops turning,” they win probably, clever fourth wall break with the reader, End Story.
Tumblr media
I honestly just really like the character designs. I definitely can’t use this as its own film without all the rights, so for now? It’s just dust. Do with it what you will.
ALSO!! Forgot to mention: this is also in the same universe!! My bad, pals 🪄

hello! really love this au!!! i was wondering if u have any documentation on how the CVs’ mechanics and such work? like schematics or something? i also wonder if there is any artwork of what it looks like when they’re charging or shut down or related robotic tendencies. it really fascinates me and i love to see if there’s any lore u had in mind for that!
hello, thank you for checking out my work ;v; oh gosh...tbh, I kiiiinda did have some notes about the Cryptons' schematics once upon a time but they're more than likely outdated X'D
I have a general idea of their mechanics and stuff, but I never wrote it down since I'm really bad parsing out science-y stuff and I get really indecisive...and it already took me 10 thousand years to finally nail down the superpower lore X'D so. (this is not making me look like a good worldbuilder or storyteller in the absolute slightest)
To answer some of your other questions, though: in regards to how they look when off or charging, when charging they usually just look like they're asleep! Which they kind of are, mostly. It's easier and quicker to charge when they're in sleep mode. When they're shut down, however, especially when it's unexpected, it's kinda like this:
Tumblr media
Their eyes and all of their accessories (headphones, sleeves, etc) go dim, and of course, they no longer move. (It's kinda bizarre seeing them like that when you aren't used to it.)
I'd mentioned it on this blog before, but I guess for a little tidbit about their mechanics: the large button on their headphones acts as an ON/OFF button, and their sleeves/the panels in their arms act as control panels, status displays, and contain some other functions like holographic video call. Both areas also have jacks where they can plug into other devices.
Lastly, I did have this old doodle of Meiko with Miku when she was still unfinished:
Tumblr media
And since I'm on a little break, take a new doodle of the twins in the maintenance room.

Just realized the only "humans" during the sahara v concorp thing was scar and grian, the only non restoners of the 5 4 so how did it look/work back then?
Going back and re-writing hermitcraft history isn't something I've done a whole lot of for this au, but it's definitely really interesting to think about!
I also made this a season 8 au because that's when I started watching Hermitcraft, so it's the season I'm most knowledgeable about--this also means that I'm really not very deeply knowledgeable at all regarding previous seasons, other than their primary plots and themes/important figures. So in short, I don't have a great answer for that (and i get this question a lot about various things, so i figured i'd go ahead and respond to one hehe) But!! It's definitely one of those things that would be fun to sit down and puzzle out one day :] It's kinda how rel and I started puzzling out and re-writing 3rd life for this au afterall :D
Knowing that the server member count was basically halved for a lot of hermitcraft history really makes it feel like it's been a lot smaller of a family/community, which is honestly very interesting (and you'll have to pardon my xisuma brainrot, but thinking about it this way also makes me realize that going from a server with 10-12 ish members to a suddenly whopping 25 ish could have definitely added to Xisuma's stresses coming out of s8 and going into s9)!

You as a robot, becoming infected with (literal) bloatware~
Oh no! My poor bioware having to deal with such a terrible virus, how could I ever survive?
My body is already plush—my master uses me as a nanny for their children so I am meant to have a soft, huggable visage to not scare my wards. One problem to being a specially created robot for childcare there are different "updates" that can be uploaded to my system. Sometimes these updates have some strange bugs that go unnoticed until it was far too late.
The day was going to plan. The youngest were taking a nap, the older children were doing their homework, and I was preparing mid-afternoon snacks to tide them over before dinner. I had blocked a pop-up for the download update on my body modification as it wasn't necessary to update. Why would there even be one? It was installed as a one off mod—was that not true?
I would question my master later but if it was in my system to be updated I would need to keep my body at top form. I allowed the update to begin while I was bringing the children their snacks before I went to grab the little one. Surely there wouldn't be much reason for me to go into stasis mode since it was so simple. How wrong I was when my middle began to change.
The warmth in my belly....it felt like my internal processors were overheating due to a heating issue. I stood frozen before the nursery door as I ran an emergency diagnostic, mind racing at the thought of a possible malfunction in my system. Nothing came back negative—how could that be possible? My core temperature was escalating by the second, filling my soft silicone body with excess heat with no way to escape! My hands reached down to grasp at myself when I noticed a change in size. My stomach had increased in size two-fold within minutes!
"INTERNAL ERROR. INTERNAL ERROR. PLEASE REFRAIN FROM YOUR CURRENT DUTIES AND ALERT YOUR MASTER."
Doing as instructed, I wirelessly contacted my master to explain my malfunction and that another android would need to take over my duties. Luckily I had been the only one to initiate this strange update and that the bugs had been less severe than others had encountered. My midsection was more rotund than ever—a beer belly that jiggled and bounced with each step I make. The children seem to enjoy it as well as my master. Even now I find their eyes trailing after me, seemingly in awe and enjoyment of my fatter appearance. What could these strange glances mean?
