character misunderstands reader’s relationship status and starts acting kinda catty about it instead of cold and ghosting

character not realizing the reader was the royalty/popstar/ceo that they were badmouthing and getting that ice cold shock once they find out

character who is a hater of their classmate and finds out their sweet online friend is said classmate and starts getting acting nicer around classmate because if their online friend hated the real them they would crash out

can the other guy be a loser please and thank you

If you’re telling me correctly the candy timeline was retconned to be fanfic… then that is fucking HILARIOUS to me!

Yeah, those years of cheating Rose did against Kanaya? Fanfic! Jade being able to inseminate using Bec’s addon? False, Jade CAN get pregnant! June? Literally just a fan character.

And best of all, this came out 5 years to the day Yiffy was revealed. The day Beyond Canon started tumbling down faster than ever conceived started half a decade ago, and those 5 years were for nothing.

Now you have to promise me you’re not exaggerating, that candy truly is just a fanfic by calliope, because I do not feel in the mood to be pranked, Davekat-Sucks.

So basically trying to tell the audience that the Candy Timeline isn't REAL REAL as it is just Calliope's shitty NTR fanfiction and imagination playing out and that Karkat is ready to help for some fucking reason because he has shit taste in romcoms and drama. It's a different approach to how Pesterquest LOCKED its canon events out from the main webcomic to play along with the dubious canon. Trans Vris is canon, but it's not since it's locked out. So in this case, stuff like dog dick Jade, Cucknaya, and possible JUNE EGBERT... is a separate canon because it's just Calliope's fanfic. Something like how Dave Strider is the in-universe creator of Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff.

as an addendum to my last post about 'If You Have Ghosts' and Terzo's experience with loneliness,

i was originally inspired to write that other post because i was thinking about how sad it makes me that, despite thinking Nihil is a bad person, Terzo still speaks of Nihil somewhat fondly and seems to value their relationship as father and son. this is often the nature of relationships between children and absent / neglectful / otherwise bad parents. humans are hard-wired for that connection, so people feel compelled to forgive their parents.

Terzo talks about how he wants so much more in his life, but he tries to accept and appreciate what little he thinks he has. at least he has some things –some people– in his life that matter to him.

i've posted before about how Terzo mentioned his family a lot. Terzo mentioned his mother, his child, his brother Secondo, and his father Nihil. and i think the way he speaks about them indicates that he really values his relationships with them. he cares.

and i think Terzo's love for his family is strongly linked to his experience with loneliness.

the quotes i used in my last post indicated to me that Terzo struggled with mental illness. and i also interpret Terzo as autistic. for these reasons, it makes sense to me that Terzo would have experienced deep feelings of alienation from other people. despite his natural charm and charisma, he had had a lot of difficulty forming and maintaining close / meaningful connections with others. there's a quote in my last post where he implies that he has, or at one point had, no friends. we know from other quotes that Terzo was reclusive and spent as little time interacting with other people as possible. Terzo seeks comfort in solitude, but he doesn't want to feel alone. so it also makes sense to me that he might find comfort in, and cling to, the bonds of family; the bonds that are literally a part of us– bonds that he believes cannot be broken. indeed, his brothers are the only people we ever saw him spending time with outside of work.

someone who feels like he has no friends... may feel like family is all he has left.

Addendum I

My friend loaded my novel into Chat GPT and we asked several specific questions about how to improve the structure, flow, and make the novel more relatable to others, and Chat GPT provided great answers... About the first 20 pages of the novel. After which, Chat GPT went into the self-jumbling mode and repeated itself several times over (to be more precise, 37 times over--that is how great my friend's patience). Chat GPT provided several completely made-up long-winged quotes and suggested replacing them by generic short sentences, and then Chat GPT repeated itself ad nauseam, only each time the made-up quotes got more and more long-winged, and suggested replacement quotes got shorter and even more generic. I am now thinking about stacking these 37 files, each about 4 pages, one after another, and adding them to my novel as Addendum I. Cons: nobody can read it. Pros: Nobody needs to read it. The addendum can be a thing in itself. It can just be there.

Liv's heart was racing. "Like taking on cases? For Organized Crime?"

"Mm, perhaps a bit more covert than than just that. You know the kind of undercover work he gets into these days."

Of course she did. And of course he would; Alex's willingness to bend the rules was right in Elliot's wheelhouse.

"So you'll be back in the city."

"I'll be around," Alex answers, as noncommital as ever.

"Ok, well ... thanks for letting me know," Liv swallows over a dry throat. "Maybe we'll run into one another."

Olivia ends the call and blinks rapidly for a moment, then pads across to the window that looks down over the neighborhood. It's where Noah finds her when he lets himself in from hanging out with friends that evening.

"Mom?" he asks cautiously, "You okay?"

She nods. "Yeah. I was just thinking a storm is on the way."

Noah joined her at the window and peered out at the sky thoughtfully. "Really? Are you sure?"

"I'm sure. Sometimes they blow in unexpectedly."
