You stood, brushing off your skirt. “You’re about four corridors off course and six floors deep into stress.”

He looked around. “Well, if I’m going to get lost, at least I ended up somewhere interesting.”

You blinked at him. “You’re the first person to say that about this room. Ever.”

He gave a half-grin, toeing one foot on the floor like he was trying to kill time. “So what do you actually do in here?”

You pointed to your screen, where a live dashboard showed inflows, outflows, and forecasts across multiple international entities. “See that? That’s how much is available in five different currencies to fund race weekend logistics without breaking any laws or overdraft limits.”

Oscar leaned slightly forward, genuinely intrigued. “And you just… know how to do that?”

“I know how to make sure no one gets a call from legal,” you said, turning your gaze back to him. “Including you.”

He laughed, a genuine, caught-off-guard sound. “Wow. You guys are the quiet enforcers.”

“Quiet, precise, and very well-documented,” you replied smoothly. “We don’t leave fingerprints — just audit trails.”

That earned a low whistle. “You don’t mess around.”

“No, but people sometimes think we do — right up until they want to order a new hospitality suite and we say, ‘not unless you want to explain that to Finance.’”

He looked impressed. “Duly noted.”

Another colleague passed behind you, giving Oscar a side-eye like he was a Martian. You cleared your throat and took a step forward, suddenly feeling aware of just how much of the room was pretending not to eavesdrop.

“You’re Oscar,” you said, a little more grounded now.

“And you are…?”

“Y/N,” you replied. “I work in… let’s call it future-proofing.”

That made him pause. “I like that.”

“It sounds less terrifying than ‘I manage the operational cash forecasts for a multimillion-pound motorsport empire,’” you added with a wink.

He smirked. “A motorsport empire, huh?”

“You guys play chess with tires. I play chess with the economy.”

He laughed again, and the sound of it — relaxed, amused, intrigued — felt like a weird sort of reward after a morning spent reviewing intercompany transfers.

“You actually like this stuff?” he asked, pointing at your screen.

You tilted your head. “You like driving into a corner at 200kph hoping your grip calculations are right?”

“…Fair.”

At that moment, a harried admin appeared behind him. “Oscar! There you are — Zak’s been waiting—”

Oscar turned slightly but didn’t move. “Got a little sidetracked.”

The admin blinked at you, surprised. You offered a tight-lipped smile and a “don’t you dare start” eyebrow raise before turning back to him.

“Back to the track?” you asked lightly.

“Back to pretending I know what my engineer is talking about.”

You smiled, unexpectedly. “Fake it till you podium.”

He chuckled. “Hey, Y/N?”

You raised a brow.

“I’m glad I got lost,” he said. “Most detours don’t come with financial sass and a global cash position overview.”

“Flirting with the girl who can freeze team spending is bold,” you replied, smirking.

He shrugged, taking a few steps toward the door. “I’ve raced in Monaco. I like high-risk strategies.”

Before leaving, he turned back over his shoulder, grin softening into something more sincere. “I’ll come back. But next time, I’ll bring coffee. You seem like you don’t take sugar, but I’ll gamble.”

You blinked, not used to someone reading you that quickly.

“…Black. No sugar,” you said after a beat.

He pointed, victorious. “Knew it.”

And with that, he slipped out of the room — leaving behind a trail of confusion, amusement, and a string of open-mouthed stares from your colleagues.

You sat down, turned back to your screen, and tried — very unsuccessfully — to remember what currency hedge you were working on.

But all your brain could supply was: He got your coffee order right.

And maybe… just maybe… some risks were worth taking.

I did an oil painting of Jade! I wasn't sure who I wanted to paint, so I rolled a dice and Jade was the lucky winner. I had a lot of fun doing this one, I need to use my paints more often.

And I took a whole bunch of photos of the process, so you guys can see how it came into being!

First things first. Planning. Traditional painting doesn't have the luxury of being able to make sweeping changes as you go like you can with digital, so if you generally want to plan ahead.

Next I printed out my lineart onto some watercolour paper and taped it to a board. I then sealed the print/paper with some clear acrylic medium and painted my tape white because it was bright fucking green and would throw off my colour mixing. My set up is pretty simple. I have a jar of mineral turpentine with a strainer at the bottom to clean my brushes on, my palettes are just boards with wax paper clipped onto them (easy cleanup) and a roll of paper towels and some rags for cleanup. And I also use an medium that both thins out my paint and helps it dry faster, otherwise oils can take months to fully cure.

I planned out all my colours in advance, so all I had to do was mix up the appropriate shades and then pretty much play paint by numbers.

The general process is block out each colour and then do whatever blending is required. If you want a harsh shadow you dont do too much blending, if you want a soft shadow you use a fluffy brush and go over the area multiple times.

And then you just go around area by area filling it in as you go. Of course there's a whole lot of different techniques and processes for completing a painting. This is just what I did for this specific painting.

And he's done! He took a few days to dry, even with the added fast drying medium. There's a few areas I'm not happy with, but I would cannibalise any colour on my palette by mixing it into the next colour I was going to use. So sans re-mixing that exact specific paint, I couldn't go back in to touch up anything.

The digital planning stage was done the evening before, and the painting stage was about 6 hours? So all in all anywhere from 8-10 hours total for this.

use a 3rd party payment service. paypal, klarna, apple pay, g pay, etc. they encrypt your credit card info so the store you're buying from doesn't have your actual credit card numbers.

use an ad-blocker and tracker blocker. learn more about these here. essentially, sites use cookies and other information(what browser you're using, screen resolution, operating system, etc) to take a "digital fingerprint" that can identify you.

periodically clear your cookies/caches

use multiple devices. i personally have a desktop and a laptop, so i'll switch off which one i use when making fresh accounts.

Libraries have traditionally operated on a basic premise: Once they purchase a book, they can lend it out to patrons as much (or as little) as they like. Library copies often come from publishers, but they can also come from donations, used book sales, or other libraries. However the library obtains the book, once the library legally owns it, it is theirs to lend as they see fit.  Not so for digital books. To make licensed e-books available to patrons, libraries have to pay publishers multiple times over. First, they must subscribe (for a fee) to aggregator platforms such as Overdrive. Aggregators, like streaming services such as HBO’s Max, have total control over adding or removing content from their catalogue. Content can be removed at any time, for any reason, without input from your local library. The decision happens not at the community level but at the corporate one, thousands of miles from the patrons affected.  Then libraries must purchase each individual copy of each individual title that they want to offer as an e-book. These e-book copies are not only priced at a steep markup—up to 300% over consumer retail—but are also time- and loan-limited, meaning the files self-destruct after a certain number of loans. The library then needs to repurchase the same book, at a new price, in order to keep it in stock.  This upending of the traditional order puts massive financial strain on libraries and the taxpayers that fund them. It also opens up a world of privacy concerns; while libraries are restricted in the reader data they can collect and share, private companies are under no such obligation. Some libraries have turned to another solution: controlled digital lending, or CDL, a process by which a library scans the physical books it already has in its collection, makes secure digital copies, and lends those out on a one-to-one “owned to loaned” ratio.  The Internet Archive was an early pioneer of this technique. When the digital copy is loaned, the physical copy is sequestered from borrowing; when the physical copy is checked out, the digital copy becomes unavailable. The benefits to libraries are obvious; delicate books can be circulated without fear of damage, volumes can be moved off-site for facilities work without interrupting patron access, and older and endangered works become searchable and can get a second chance at life. Library patrons, who fund their local library’s purchases with their tax dollars, also benefit from the ability to freely access the books. Publishers are, unfortunately, not a fan of this model, and in 2020 four of them sued the Internet Archive over its CDL program. The suit ultimately focused on the Internet Archive’s lending of 127 books that were already commercially available through licensed aggregators. The publisher plaintiffs accused the Internet Archive of mass copyright infringement, while the Internet Archive argued that its digitization and lending program was a fair use. "My dear, is there something I've done wrong, I know we talked about my 'issue' but it seems it's slowly becoming something that is causing you trouble" he had his worries even after they continued their relationship after the whole 'Primus incident' as they called it.

Some thoughts about Primarchs being the brain fog brothers.

Ft - Perturabo, Rogal Dorn, Fulgrim, Horus, Lorgar and Sanguinius

Starting with Dorn and turbo with their silly maths mistakes

Perturabo

Gets so frustrated with simple mental maths, will constantly second guess if he done 11 – 3 correctly because it looks wrong on the paper meanwhile, he has no issue with extremely complex calculations in his head.

Accidentally swaps numbers which can massively throw off any calculations he is doing. Has made things go tits up before because of this.

Added a built-in calculator into the logos to stop this, it doesn’t, still feels the need to check each calculation 7 times just in case he thought the digit wrong.

Born to make paint minis, forced to siege.

Rogal Dorn        

Too stubborn to use a calculator, so has been seen multiple times using his fingers to count (forgets the next number in a sequence, like will forget 5 comes after 4), also been spotted facing a wall muttering to himself he is mathing.

Has a lil notebook he keeps stashed on him because he needs to see the numbers because his silly mistake symptom is forgetting numbers, he will miss the 4 off the end of a number, does this too much has to check each digit one by one to make sure he hasn't done it again, still manages to miss something.

Once realised a plan drafted up was 5mm out everywhere and that was the first time many of the imperial fists saw any emotion on his face, inside he was screaming and on the verge of tears.

Horus

Has to do a lot of public speaking and sometimes trips over his words or blanks on a word and stands there gesturing, trying to explain the word. His poor brain works overtime trying to remember the word bridge.

He will keep this up until he remembers the word, or someone is able to decipher the abstract symbols he is making.

Sometimes forgets what language he is meant to speak in and will just default to his native chthonian, get confused looks from those not in his legion.

When he is really tired, the charming façade can drop if someone really gets on his nerves, has been passive aggressive when he just wants to go to bed but general yapper won’t stop.

Lorgar

When writing he fully forgets how some simple words are spelt and sits there staring for ages at the word, trying to remember how it’s spelt because it just looks wrong on the parchment.  Will sometimes put the last letter of the previous work on the next word at the beginning.

He also accidentally writes down a word he's heard in the background instead of the word he meant then forgets the word he actually wanted to write.

Says the wrong word when preaching every so often, it always ends up being something inappropriate as well - wants the earth to open up below him and swallow him whole when his does.

Sanguinius

He mimics people without realising he is doing it, ends up picking up various vocal stims this way. How long the stim sticks depend on how amusing it is and how much it scratches the brain itch.

His wings move a lot more when his brain is foggy, he forgets to keep them still when reacting to people – ends up giving how he is feeling away because of this.

Also forgets to keep his fangs hidden when talking or smiling 

He makes nest when stressed – just accidentally steals people belongs for it though.

Fulgrim

Has too much near him and too much going on around him sometimes ends up with a bad case of choice paralysis so just sits there unmoving for a bit. Gets really annoyed that he can’t get up and just do the thing, but he doesn’t know where to even begin because there are too many options.

Looks absent and a bit frazzled

Worries the Emperor’s Children every time, they are very supportive and help in anyway they can

Once they tried to do the task for him and ended up getting shouted at and dismissed because they were doing it wrong.

What are Tarot birth cards?

Tarot birth cards are symbols that shape our identity and lives from the moment we are born. They are our essence, an energy imprint, or even a map - like a birth chart but for Tarot cards- that can unlock a new understanding of ourselves, and all the potential of our life purpose.

Each of us has a pair of Major Arcana cards that represent our core self, so today I decided to explain all combinations. I explained the cards separately so you can combine them and see intuitively how they play out in your life.

Also, be noted that I only explain the "light" manifestation of each of them. So for example, if it says "selfless" the shadow aspect/backward expression of them is the opposite, "selfish". Or if it says "truth-seeker" its shadow would be "know-it-all". How do I calculate mine?

The easiest way for me is to use the same method that we use to calculate our Life path number in numerology:

We add each digit of our birth date

m+m+d+d+y+y+y+y

Example: 11/22/1989

1+1+2+2+1+9+8+9= 33

2. We reduce it

3+3= 6

6 is The Lovers and The Devil (6 and 15).

As you can see, we got a pair of numbers that corresponds to a pair of Major Arcana cards.

important: IF YOU GET A 19, YOU HAVE TO REDUCE IT TWICE AND YOU´LL GET 3 MAJOR ARCANA: 19 (The Sun) -> 1+9=10 (The Wheel of Fortune) -> 1+0=1 (The Magician).

2 and 11: The High Priestess, Justice

The Empress: You enjoy helping other people, creating, and giving birth to something. You embody kindness, intelligence, expressiveness, communication and abundance. You are dynamic and could be good at doing many things, you likely do all at the same time. You are good at communicating your ideas with others and you give others creative insights.

3 and 21: The Empress, The World

Here the qualities of the Empress are combined with those of The World card, so your creativity results in perfection, success, wholeness, finding your place in the world, feeling and being rewarded, self-realization. 4 and 13 : The Emperor, Death

The Emperor: You are gifted with stability, strength, structure and practicality. You are powerful, hard-working and generous. You have integrity and good morals. You protect what needs protection and give structure and functionality to things. You are methodical and pragmatic.

Death: Death combined with the Emperor can reestructure and make radical changes to the world. You know when things need to die and be rebirthed in new forms. You can transform the world with authority, integrity and diligency.

In case you got 4 and 22, The 22 can be considered The Fool. You can either consider the Fool along with The Emperor and Death, or only read the explanation above and dismiss it. If you choose to consider the Fool, read below:

The Fool: I picture it as if you were the Emperor but with a good sense of humor, carefree, crazy, not making sense at times, chaotic, and extravagant. It makes me think of "dad jokes". You do not take anything too seriously. You restructured things spontaneously and the result may not make a lot of sense. Or it could be that you make more of a freedom-oriented restructure/change. You are an innocent and energetic leader. Maybe you don´t even understand why people may see you as a leader or follow you, because you don´t even take yourself seriously and are very disorganized, lol.

(edit): When I was writing about this combo, the new president of Argentina Javier Milei came to my mind. He talks about re-structuring the country, making economic transformations, solving the problems of the economy and poverty, and changing the country for the better. But he also has a silly personality, he's kinda funny and people make fun of him, they call him crazy, they even speculate about him having mental illnesses, and he doesn't make sense to A LOT of people. At that time I was lazy to search for his number but I just did and you know what? He is a 4 and a 22. 😳

5 and 14: The Hierophant, Temperance

The Hierophant: You are a teacher, someone wise who shares their knowledge and wisdom. You are patient, merciful, and modest. You guide others to goodness. NBCUniversal has finalized its defamation settlement with a Georgia doctor who was repeatedly called a "uterus collector" by MSNBC.

NBCUniversal, the parent company of NBC News and MSNBC (the latter is currently being spun off as a separate company), settled the $30 million lawsuit filed by Georgia gynecologist Dr. Mahendra Amin. Amin who was the subject of a report claiming he performed unnecessary hysterectomies at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) center.  

Both parties struck the settlement in February, but the lawsuit was officially dismissed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Georgia. The terms of the settlement were not publicly disclosed. 

"We are pleased that Dr. Amin is able to move on from his years-long litigation against NBCUniversal," Amin's attorneys, Stacey Evans and Scott Grubman, told Fox News Digital. "It is unfortunate that he had to sue to get confirmation of what was known all along—that he did not perform mass hysterectomies on women detained at Irwin County Detention Center. We are glad that the judge found those statements false as a matter of law because, in fact, Dr. Amin performed only two hysterectomies, both of which were medically necessary and consented to by the patients."

"Dr. Amin is a dedicated physician who has dedicated his entire career to serving underserved communities. The recklessness of NBCUniversal to try to paint him as an evil doctor was disgusting and we are glad they finally settled the case," they added.

Representatives from NBCUniversal and MSNBC did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment. 

Amin was the subject of an NBC News article in September 2020, which cited a whistleblower's claim that he was performing unneeded hysterectomies while providing medical care to women detained at the Irwin County Detention Center. 

MSNBC quickly followed with a series of on-air reports on "Deadline: White House," "All In with Chris Hayes" and "The Rachel Maddow Show," all running with the "uterus collector" label for Amin. 

Amin filed a lawsuit against parent company NBCUniversal, alleging he was falsely portrayed as "an abusive, unethical, and dishonest physician who treated and operated on immigrant women in an abusive fashion, without consent, and motivated by profit instead of quality healthcare."

Judge Lisa Godbey Wood of the Southern District of Georgia previously ruled that a jury could reasonably find actual malice and the trial was set to begin April 22, in Waycross, Georgia. In light of the settlement agreement, the court canceled the scheduled trial.

"NBC investigated the whistleblower letter's accusations; that investigation did not corroborate the accusations and even undermined some; NBC republished the letter's accusations anyway," Judge Wood wrote last year in a 108-page summary. 

Amin believed "false and defamatory" statements published with actual malice that caused him significant damage were said six times on "Deadline: White House," seven times on "All in with Chris Hayes" and 10 times on "The Rachel Maddow Show." 

MSNBC hosts Rachel Maddow, Chris Hayes and Nicolle Wallace were among potential witnesses if it reached trial, along with NBC News reporters Jacob Soboroff and Julia Ainsley, MSNBC producer Denis Horgan, senior director of stands and practices Mary Lockhart, deputy head of standards Chris Scholl and others. 

Judge Wood previously ruled that multiple statements were proven false, noting "undisputed evidence has established" that "there were no mass hysterectomies or high numbers of hysterectomies at the facility," "Dr. Amin performed only two hysterectomies on female detainees from the ICDC," and the doctor is not a "uterus collector.

Fractions

Fractions are parts of a whole. To put it simply, imagine a pizza, divide it into 8, then you have 8/8 parts. Take 1 part away, and you have 7/8 of the pizza left. So on, so forth.

Fractions can also be seen as division.

Parts of a Fraction

Normal fractions are written like this:

Or, as I had written earlier: 8/8.

As mentioned, fractions are also division. 8 is being divided by 8. The denominator is the divisor, and the numerator is the dividend.

Whole Numbers, Improper Fractions, & Proper Fractions

8/8 = 1, because if you divide 8 by 8, you get the quotient of 1. Same with other numbers. 3/3 = 1. Now, imagine we have 16/8. That's basically 16 divided by 8, which is 2.

Improper fractions are fractions where the numerator is greater than the denominator. Such as 9/8. What do we do if we have 9/8? Obviously, we cannot easily divide 9 by 8. Well, if you recall the lesson of remainders during division, that is what we do here.

To turn a proper fraction into an improper fraction, we simply multiply the denominator by the whole number & add the value with the numerator.

Whole numbers can also be turned into decimals. 1/1 = 1, 2/1 = 2, so on so forth. To put it into perspective:

Simplifying & Fractions -> Decimals.

Fractions can be simplified, by being divided by a greatest common factor (GCF) . Let's imagine 4/8, where their greatest common factor is 4.

4/8 when simplified is 1/2. Putting this into diagram, we can find that this is true.

Can 3/8 be simplified? Of course not. But it would be a great example for how we can turn fractions into decimals. As mentioned earlier, fractions are division, instead of having "remainders" during division, you will end up with decimals.

To explain how to turn a decimal into a fraction, let's use a simple number, 0.25. You should know the places of decimals, the digit on the rightmost is on the hundredths place. Which means we will be multiplying our number by 100.

As you know, whole numbers can be made into 0.25/1, so we will be starting from there.

Operations with Fractions

Addition

When adding fractions, the numerators are the values you will be adding together, while the denominators stay the same. For example, 3/8 + 4/8.

What if their denominators are different, however? You can use multiple methods, however I am much more adept with using the LCM (Least common multiple) method.

In the LCM method, you have to find their least (smallest) common multiple. You divide the multiple by the denominator and multiply the quotient to the numerator. For example:

Subtraction

Subtraction works almost similar to addition, the only difference being that you subtract the numerators.

Multiplication

Multiplication is very simple, you multiply both the numerators and the denominators by one another.

Looking at the equation, you can still simplify the answer. Rather than coming up with two final answers, you can simplify the equation instead. But you may only do this with diagonal values. For example:

I am aware that you can simplify 6/4, which is an option as well. If the fraction can be simplified, then go ahead.

This applies with 2+ fractions.

Division

Division uses the operation of multiplication, however it has a few steps. There's a popular method to use for division of fractions, called the KCF (Keep-Change-Flip) method.

Keep the first fraction, change the sign from division to multiplication, and flip the 2nd (or more) fraction.

When is the Magic Kaito Redraw event scheduled?

Signups open on��May 5th. Signups close on June 5th. Discord invites will be given out by June 15th. Artists finish their pages by September 30th. The finished product will be released sometime in October.

What happens if there aren’t enough artists?

Artists will have the option to sign up for multiple pages to make sure we can fill out the whole volume.

What happens if there are too many artists?

If we end up getting applications for as many artists as there are pages, we will close the signup sheets early and no longer accept new applicants.

Will there be a book I can buy when it's done?

Nope. This is a digital zine.

Do I have to draw digital artwork?

Nope! So long as you're able to get a clean scan/photo of your art and it's the correct dimensions, you can use any medium you want. Exact dimensions will be available in the guidelines.

How do collabs work?

If you and a friend want to sign up as an artist team to collaborate on your page(s), then fill out the signup sheet as normal, but specify that you're a team (there will be a check box) and put down both of your names/discord handles instead of just one.

I don’t have someone to ask to collab with. Can I ask someone once in the discord server?

Nope. Due to the way this event is organized, we'll be sorting out who gets what pages before we officially bring people into the discord server. You have to be prepared to do your assigned pages by yourself if you don't sign up with a collab partner at the start.

I filled out the sign-up form. How do I know if I'll get the page I wanted?

You'll be told what page(s) you get assigned by June 15th when we hand out discord invites. Pages are assigned on a first-come first-serve basis, which is why we ask for backup options. Unfortunately, not everyone is going to get a page that they really really wanted. It's the nature of the beast.

I filled out the sign-up form. What if something happens and it turns out I can't make my deadline?

If something turns up in your life and you know you'll be late to a deadline, you can talk to mods about it! We're not going to kick you out because you got sick and fell behind on your drawing time, for example. If something turns up that makes you need to drop out entirely, no worries. That's what pinch hitters are for. Your page(s) will be redistributed to artists dedicated to picking up the slack on short notice.

I filled out the sign-up form. When will I get access to the discord?

We have to assign all the pages, and then we'll contact artists with their page number(s) and a link to the discord. We'll be finished by June 15th, please be patient!

Do I have to have a discord account?

Yes, it’s required to participate. We’re keeping track of everyone and their progress through a discord server for ease of communication and organization. If you don’t have an account, you can make one just for this and then never touch the platform again if you’d like.

I’m not an artist/I don’t want to draw anything. Can I join the server just to see what’s going on?

Nope! Sorry. It’s for mods and participants only. You get to wait and see once it’s all shiny and finished.
