WHY DO WE NOT TALK ABOUT PIPPIN AND BERGIL
The little banter they had when they first met ahhhhh—
And also how powerful is it that when what's-his-face (Forlong, it's Forlong) was riding through Minas Tirith and everyone was whispering about there only being 200 men, Pippin says "so ends a fair day in wrath!", clearly referring to the fear and tension of imminent war and desolation, something that a *child* (for that is what pippin is and HE SAYS SO TO BERGIL) should not even think of, and Bergil's immediate response is "So it will, if I have not returned before the sundown-bells" which is the most childlike response imaginable: the fear of getting in trouble because you've stayed out for too long.
Like this is where we REAAAALLY see Pip's character arc come into play.
#There is so much to unpack about Minas Tirith#Like how pivotal the palantír experience was#Which is something that can get overlooked#That Pippin SAW INTO SAURON'S MIND BASICALLY#AND SAURON WAS IN HIS#LIKE HELLO#THAT'S HORRIFYING#And we see how much fear and terror that has instilled in pip throughout the chapter#And most kids (especially teenagers) are often under the impression that they're almost adults#And therefore they're capable of handling themselves#And that if they're almost an adult them they are an adult#When in fact they're not#But now pippin is very clear that he is not yet an adult#Whereas before he was very adamant that he was more than capable of going on this journey#That he wasn't too young#And now it's sinking in how young he really is#ALSO#if pip was a human#Like looking at age equivalents#He would have almost the same age gap with Bergil as he does with merry#In that merry is about 8 years older#And Bergil is 6-7 years younger#And I think that's just really gut-wrenching#That once upon a time it was a little pippin dragging his merry around the shire#And now it's Bergil dragging pippin around#Ahhhhh the innocence of youth#And how quickly it fades in the face of evil and terror and doom#Wow that was long#Anywho#Pippin took

3x01 cold open!!!!! between rafe and everyone hyping up this scene for a long time now and people from the brazil con reporting descriptions of it, we knew how it was going to go down, so no huge surprises for me, but so exciting to watch it for myself! it definitely lives up to the hype!
a few quick thoughts
what do liandrin, sharon gilham, lorne balfe, and the vfx team have in common? they're all slaying in this opening sequence! i'm not someone who's at all knowledgeable about or sensitive to production value, but even i can tell they've stepped it up yet another notch this season. it looks decadent! epic! i can see why everyone involved has been boasting about this sequence so much! what a way to start the season.
it's also fantastic setup for all the tensions and weak points within the tower, because we see our inter-ajah mistrust, we see doubt in siuan's leadership, and of course we see the black ajah. that faceoff outside the hall between red sisters and others was really great - it shows that not all reds are like liandrin and some of them are light-serving, that non-reds can be black ajah, and that light-serving enemy ajahs will have to figure out how to trust each other and work together if they want to be strong enough to fight the shadow. this sequence does a good job establishing that the tower isn't split into just good guys vs. darkfriends, but that the good guys themselves are fractured and opposing each other.
i'd thrown out a wild speculation of diem camille as a surprise tuon since nothing was known about what character she might be playing, but we see her here as a light-serving red sister! i was wishing for the x-ray feature of the normal episodes here to see if any of the new aes sedai have names we might recognize, or if they're just randoms.
i'd have to rewatch closely to take a tally, but we seem to have representation from just about every ajah in liandrin's group: liandrin for red, nyomi for brown (sob!), joiya for gray, the green sister who was glad her warders died, the yellow sister who healed liandrin, and i think i saw a blue sister as well. there might have been a couple others besides these ones too!
in s2 we had a few scraps between channelers, but i think this is the first extended multi-person channeling battle we've seen. it's so exciting!! and awesome to see the gloves come off for our usually-composed and regal siuan, and see what she's capable of. we also see her doing a tricksy evasion of liandrin's accusations about what happened in cairhien, since everything liandrin said is true and siuan can't deny it, so siuan is definitely set up to be in some hot water.
leane also killed it! loved that moment of her beating someone up with her staff - a good visual demonstration of the oaths placing no restriction on non-channeling violence (though i'm sure this would've counted as "the last defense of her life/the life of another sister" anyway). wild theory i'm by no means subscribing to without rewatching to check for it, but just throwing it out there: could leane have been stilled during the battle and that's why she's doing physical fighting here? just thinking about the CV leak that named lelaine as the keeper of the chronicles; that could make sense if leane was stilled here and needs to be replaced. but it's also entirely possible that CV leak was inaccurate or that lelaine is slated to become future keeper in salidar but not yet in s3, and there wasn't any moment calling attention to leane being stilled or anything like that, so probably not.
we got a time-check as well: it's been 1 month since the cairhien events of 2x07, and therefore since falme too since i think that battle takes place basically the next day. that feels like a reasonable timeskip to me. enough time for the gang to gather their wits and come up with the best way to handle the truth bomb of liandrin being a darkfriend (and for rand to grow out his hair a little haha) but not so long that it feels like they've been sitting on their asses when there's stuff to get done.
correct me if i missed her, but i don't think we saw ryma in this sequence, but she is reported to be in s3. so, either we'll see her in the tower later on, or she's still with the seanchan and maybe we'll see her in tanchico (at which time hopefully our gang will free her!). i would most expect her to be relevant to the story via nynaeve again this season, whether that be a tanchico encounter where nynaeve frees her or early-season lessons in the tower if she's already free (we see a reminder of nynaeve's block during the battle, with our poor girl once again failing to channel when she really needs to).
people have pointed out that that shot of joiya sitting on the floor in the trailer looks like it might be the angreal storeroom, so the theory is that she gets captured and taken prisoner in this battle. that would track with the books, where the wondergirls take her prisoner and eventually get out of her that tanchico is the place to go for their hunt.
speaking of the storeroom, people have spotted what looks like a redstone doorway in it!! i've brightened it up to see better:
this is VERY intriguing, as my current theory had been that mat would find it in tanchico towards the end of the season. but i do stand by that his neck doesn't look injured in the tanchico still from ep6, nor is he wearing a medallion (which we can feel pretty confident is coming this season since he has it on the poster), so it could be that this white tower doorway is only an easter egg and the ones that people actually go through are located elsewhere, or it could be that mat does take two trips after all and he gets his answers in the white tower doorway in the early season (perhaps his motivation for going to tanchico instead of joining rand or perrin?) and his items & hanging in a tanchico doorway at the end of the season. but there would also have to be one in rhuidean for moiraine and lanfear to go through, right? so could there be 3 doorways in showverse? tar valon, tanchico, and rhuidean? i don't think there would be any problem with that.
okay, i think that's all the thoughts i had off the top of my head! this is a sequence that happens offscreen in the books, and bringing it onscreen was such a smart choice. it makes great use of our established aes sedai players, sets up the huge tensions brewing in the tower just in time for elaida coming on the scene, and really drives home for the audience that ANYONE can be black ajah/a darkfriend, so we'll be feeling that paranoia and mistrust right alongside the aes sedai.
and this is only the first scene of the season! i can't wait to see everything else that's to come!!

Genuine question here, how can we increase patient autonomy and handle psychiatric medication for people who are disabled to a point where communication and understanding medication schedules would be difficult? I think a lot of people in my circles have gotten to a point of understanding, yes, anti-psychs can be more detrimental to patients with no positives when talking about a person with psychosis in their 20s who is somewhat able to manage themselves, but have difficulty parsing what would be best in the case of an older person with a neurodigenerative disease, and as someone who is at risk for developing Alzheimer's, I'm not sure what patient autonomy would look like for myself at that stage of life.
alright so, the question of how to increase patient autonomy for those who are mentally incapacitated in various ways is a legitimate one -- this has been a problem in paediatric and geriatric medicine for reasons both social and biological, and also affects disabled/injured/sick people of any age.
the assumption you've attached, though, is that 'antipsychotics' (neuroleptics) are actually in a patient's best interest, and that therefore it might be justified to administer them without consent in cases where it cannot be obtained. this is just incorrect and tells me you didn't read any of the links in my other posts about neuroleptics. these are not drugs that 'cure' 'psychosis' -- they are drugs that used to be marketed as 'chemical lobotomies' for a reason! they are unsafe in the long and short term, and are administered because they make patients compliant (incapacitated, numbed out, chemically dependent). the question of consent is just moot here imo.
to touch on the general question: usually with patients who are unable to consent, what is supposed to happen involves a mix of designated legal representatives, loved ones who are present, professional patient advocates, and the patient's own advance directives. my opinion (& this is common among disability advocates) is that doctors are often overeager to decide patients cannot consent, and will talk over/about them rather than taking the time to try communicating with them in ways they can understand. a person's own legal representation or the hospital's patient advocates sometimes help bridge this gap, but many times these people are also nakedly ableist, and fundamentally it's ableism that is exacerbating this tension.
obviously there will also always be some cases where it's simply impossible to get consent from the patient themself (for example, my uncle had a pituitary tumour that made him suddenly and irreversibly experience a total break from reality, resolved only after his wife consented to surgery on his behalf) -- in those cases, yeah, medicine sometimes means intervening without a direct yes from the patient. but the reality is that many people who are currently considered unable to communicate, choose, or advocate for themselves are in fact capable of a trying to do those things -- they're simply not being granted that right in current social/economic conditions. this often includes people dealing with neurodegenerative conditions btw -- these are incredibly difficult conditions, i won't pretend otherwise, but it is a myth that they completely and instantly rob a person of all ability to formulate preferences about medical treatment or quality of life, or to express those preferences.

Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire 10th Anniversary - The Skies and The Stars: Wally and Zinnia Analysis
"N-nice to meet you! I'm Wally. My Pokémon and I are always forward together, little by little, day by day!" Wally
"I'm Zinnia—just a traveling Pokémon Trainer, dreaming of taking a little trip into space... Heh." Zinnia
Happy late 10th Anniversary of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, it only feels like yesterday when I first played ORAS, one of my favorite Pokemon games. ORAS is such a wonderful remake of Ruby and Sapphire. The game also gave us the iconic Delta Episode, the game's adaptation of Emerald. The game also expands on a known character and introduces a brand new character: Wally, a boy who longs for the skies of freedom, and Zinnia, a girl who longs for her destiny in the stars. While their paths intersect once, their paths hold similar motifs.
For two characters who never interacted on-screen (only briefly off-screen), they share a lot in common and they stand out in the remake as ORAS turns 10 years old (God I feel old).
Wally (I thought he was older than he looked, and I still believe that despite what Canon says haha) started as just a simple sick boy who grew to conquer the gyms and nearly take on the Elite Four and Champion. He shows how one can succeed despite the odds stacked against them. He has struggled throughout his entire life. He desires to travel to regions like Unova and become a trainer, yet he has a disease that affects his breathing. Not only that, but his own relatives don't think he's capable of handling things by himself. It's a part of his own motivation to become a trainer: To prove, despite everything, he can be just as much a strong person as any other trainer. He wants to accomplish and fulfill his dreams.
Wally sadly doesn't get a lot of love outside of ORAS; even in the Adventures manga, when he finally gets his moment, it gets undercut. I also think he's best represented by Gardevoir over Gallade.
Zinnia (I see her as half-Hoenn and half-Kalos), the last Lorekeeper of the Draconid people, searches for purpose and finds it in fulfilling a prophecy, not thinking about her own future or her actions. She desperately wants to live up to the legacy of Lorekeeper Aster, who is highly implied to be her mother (and given how Aster was portrayed in Evolutions and yes even Adventures, she's most likely Zinnia's mother), and she makes impulsive decisions with the potential to doom humanity and Pokemon. Her impulsive decisions range from helping Team Magma/Aqua unleash their Legendary to awaken Rayquaza to destroying the rocket component because of the possibility it might warp it to another universe (while we know she's right, the characters have no idea of verifying her claims are true or not). Trying to live up to Aster's legacy gives her a purpose; a destiny. If she can't live up to that and therefore fails her own people, the people and Pokemon of the world...what does she do?
They want to soar above to prove not only to others but to themselves that they're capable and grown. They feel the burden of trying to live up to their own expectations. By the end, the two characters come to their own realization of their futures. Wally realizes he doesn't need to defeat their rival to prove their growth. Zinnia realizes she has to move on and find her reason to live beyond fulfilling a destiny she burdened herself with. The two find ways to live and grow, thanks to Brendan/May. Life is far more than just being a trainer or fulfilling a destiny.
Funnily enough, Wally and Zinnia are connected through Rayquaza in other media. Wally frees Rayquaza on Sky Pillar in the RS Arc of Adventure manga and Zinnia gets to have Rayquaza as her Pokemon partner in Pokemon Masters. They also sadly never appeared in the official anime.
"I bet you must be surprised to see me in a place like this! That promise that we made back then... Thank you for keeping your end of it. It was really all thanks to you that I could make it this far... It was only because I lost to you back then that I could become even stronger. I'm sure you and your Pokémon must have had to overcome a lot, too... To make it all the way here. Right...? Everyone's grown so much... And now we'll get to see just what we can all do. Standing here facing you again gives me chills... ... But I won't give up! I won't lose anymore. My Pokémon have given me the courage and strength to fight. I have to win for their sake! So get ready... Here I come!" Wally on Victory Road before battle
"History had chosen you... The truth remains that Rayquaza chose you and not me... But... While I don't know how to put it into words exactly... I think I understand why... ... You will be successor to our long history now. And I pass to you the final key to Rayquaza's true power. The move that only it can learn: Dragon Ascent... ...That's it, then. I guess... it's time that I do my last task as Lorekeeper. You have obtained Rayquaza's power for your own... Now I will have you prove to me that you can muster that power... in battle! That is my final... The final duty of the last Lorekeeper of the Draconid people! Show me that can exceed it—the entirety of history that we have clung to until today!... My pulse... I can feel it racing... I'm feeling...totally...pumped! Haaahhh! This is it!!" Zinnia on Sky Pillar before battle

I love the Keith and Lance friendly antagonism/rivalry (yk that thing the show could've eventually gotten to but forgot to) as much as the next person but I will always be the biggest Pidge vs Lance rivalry/friendly antagonism
It's too funny cause neither of them value the same things as being the thing to compete in, but they're also both competitive
Like I think Keith has to be pushed to care about competition tbh (or at least the writers had to contrive situations and his personality to make it work) but Keith doesn't hugely care about the same things Lance does in the way that eventually it was clear, even when they did really contrive to make Keith care, that the whole thing was really one sided (which is interesting but in different way)
But with Pidge and Lance, they both value certain traits in a way that even though its not the same and theyre each competing over different things, the pair of them would believably die on their respective hills just to prove a point, in a way that Keith just wouldn't. Pidge and Lance will go above and beyond to compete and be petty in a way where they know they have a close friendship but also they're gonna win. That competition can rarely be mistaken for actual antagonism and when it is or if it actually is, then the two are direct and blunt enough too to get to the bottom of it
Meanwhile being playfully mean for them would be different, cause they're both highly insecure and while competitiveness is one thing, being mean to each other would kind of cause problems for them if they hit a button or nerve they weren't aware of
I think Keith and Lance are better with the sort of relationship where its less competitive but more that they can honestly express their more negative traits and beliefs in front of each other without fear that the other will try to correct or fix the others belief. They can be as playfully mean, negative or cynical as they want in front of each other cause they're both the sort that try really hard not to come across certain ways and try to hide (sometimes in vain) these parts of themselves. They can show their darker traits that others would be concerned about to each other and know that the other is capable of being honest enough to both be able to handle it but also to know when there should be some actual concern and lines drawn
Plus on top of this, competition for Keith has always been this thing put upon him so tbh I think that's also a reason for me why Keith and Lance should be more playfully mean than competitive cause for Lance competition has been historically safe and fine for him with certain people, while for Keith it's always been something that has had people treat him negatively and therefore means something different to him.
This got longer than expected but TLDR (shut up ik it's not that long): Pidge and Lance are the rivals, but Lance and Keith are the playfully mean ones. Maybe that just makes them rivals but in a different font but to me that different font is important

Would you be willing to share your sources relating to the submarine/submersible technology? I believe you, but I’d love to a. read more on the subject and b. Share something that isn’t a tumblr post with a family member
i linked wikipedia articles in my reblog which, themselves, have sources in their references, but i'm not sure what specifically you're asking for a source on.
i presume you're asking why i asserted a sphere is safer than a cylinder which is more or less just physics and not strictly related to subs. a cylinder has more surface area than a sphere of the same diameter therefore it has more surface for pressure to act on. moreover the nature of material manufacture means that a cylinder has more seams (2) than a sphere (1).
spherical pressure hulls are usually made of two halves of forged titanium or steel then fused together along one seam. the titan was two halves of a titanium sphere attached to the ends of a carbon-fiber tube. where the tube was joined to the spheres it made two seams. this is really oversimplifying it but the point is to highlight that seams can provide a point of failure because they're not part of the same continuous material. the more seams the more potential points of failure
if you're asking about the DSVs themselves, when it comes to functional deep-sea capable vessels i guess it's important to point out the difference between a "submarine" (the long tube shape you see used in the military) and a deep-sea vessel like a bathysphere (which is not a submarine because of its lack of mobility).
submarines, especially modern ones, can handle some pretty impressive depths but they don't go anywhere near as deep as vessels designed to travel to the deep sea. military sub max operational depths are probably classified but their reported depths are in the hundreds of meters
modern dsv's dive past ten thousand meters. which is way, way more pressure.
so to understand modern DSVs, here's the description of the batysphere concept and some of the original designs, which which were the first deep-sea capable vessels just much more primitive. they were lowered on cables and didn't travel on their own power. so they weren't really vehicles
here's the next logical step, the bathyscaphe, which allowed it to move up and down under its own power, however the crew cabin is still a sphere. you can see them protruding from the bottom of the vessel in some photos
"deep-submergence vehicles" (which i linked in that reblog) are a bit more closer to submarines in terms of design and mobility, but their crew cabin designs are still spherical, with few exceptions. the deepest-traveling ones are spherical
crew cabins are pressure vessels. meaning they're built to withstand the force of the pressure of the water outside the vehicle. DSV's may have multiple components in compartments that don't look spherical at all from the outside but it makes sense when you realize some of these compartments aren't pressure vessels. some are solid foam. some even flood with sea water by design
take a look at this diagram of the Alvin with crew inside:

the largest pressure vessel is the crew cabin. there's a few other smaller pressure vessels to provide variable ballast (flooded with sea water or pumped with air) and some mercury vessels to provide leveling trims (to tell which way is up)
the rest of the vehicle is either pressure-resistant foam or empty space in which water can get in because the components inside are small enough and engineered to withstand the pressure. remember, because water pressure acts in all directions, the less surface area you have, the less pressure you need to worry about to maintain whatever function you need to perform. since the crew compartment is so big and so important, it's the thickest titanium and probably engineered to more exacting safety standards than some of the other parts
a couple people have already commented more on what i posted with good insight into things i can't explain as well. here's someone going into detail about the sphere vs cylinder issue:
and here someone linked a very informative youtube about the manufacture of the DSV Limiting Factor including footage of the crew compartment being forged from titanium

TOONTOWN HEADCANON LORE POST THINGY NUMBER 4 I THINK
Again, this is mostly centered around Toontown Corporate Clash, but could probably also apply to other Toontown imaginations and whatnot
Topic: Gags
TOONS
To Toons, they're toys, tools, jokes to laugh at, something that's harmless and can make you happy. They're essentially imbedded into Toon culture for obvious reasons. For as long as there have been Toons, there have been some sort of Gags along with them. And the Gags shown in-game are not the only ones, either. There are many other types of gags, as well as more gags within gag types (such as Drop, for example), that are not seen in-game. (I'm just gonna go ahead with the easy explanation and say that we only see the gags we see in-game for balancing reasons and whatnot) Using Gags, in the mind of most Toons, is really freaking fun!!! Whether it be against other Toons, against Cogs, or some other zany usage that you'd see in some cartoon, it's a great way for them to keep themselves happy and in tip top shape, thus keeping their Laff high. They're great at helping sad Toons get unsad, but will likely not be enough if the Toon is depressed or otherwise very unhappy. Case by case situation. Likewise, Toons who have distanced themselves from other Toons, or Toons that are otherwise pretty crabby, might not enjoy Gags as much as others, or might not feel their whimsy, joyful effects as much. This isn't necessarily indicative of a "Bad Toon" or "Evil Toon" or whatever, and they may still be just as joyful as other Toons are, but may show it/gain it in a different way. Like us humans, there's much variation in how Toons receive and show joy, and how they might react to Gags or other Toons.
SUITS
To Cogs, they're weapons. They confiscate them from defeated Toons to study them, safekeep them, and for whatever other purposes they might think of using them for. Gags don't usually do ACTUAL physical damage against Cogs, and if they do, it's typically temporary. Just like how Gags in cartoons might injure someone or squash them, it's temporary. However, Suits by nature are like the anti-thesis of Toons and Gags, so they are very much less resistant to the effects of a Gag compared to how a Toon would take it. Cogs only end up exploding once they've been subjected to more than they can handle. That being said, I've stated before that not all Suits have to be all, yknow.... like that. Even if Suits are still by nature weak to Gags, those who are less engrossed in the whole business lifestyle, and know what fun is, know how to enjoy themselves (like a normal person) and are overall sillier than most other Suits, they may be a little more resistant to Gags. (Again, not seen in-game because of gameplay reasons. Most Big Cheeses might be all grumpy and whatnot, but another might be less so, and therefore be slightly less affected by Gags. Also, this wouldn't be the sole source of Gag resistance that Suits may have, so just because a Manager has resistances in their fight doesn't mean it's explicitly BECAUSE they're silly.)
Also, I'd imagine that most Suits are waterproof and are capable of getting wet without much issue. When it comes to Squirt Gags, it's just the fact that they are a Gag and the way that they are being used that makes them damage Cogs.
In a similar vain, I have mentioned that some Suits could be electric-proof, or otherwise be able to absorb electricity to charge themselves in the earliest lore post. Zap Gags likely wouldn't be nearly as effective against these kinds of Suits.
He does NOT take Gags well!
She resists Gags, but NOT because she's any fun
He might be "silly" in some way, but he's still a horrible person and very much does not take Toons seriously, so he'd still be as weak to Gags as the average Suit would be. The context of how they act is important as well.
She COULD have some Gag resistance, since she's genuinely interested in being friendly with Toons, and doesn't have nearly as much malice and/or malicious intent as other Suits, though negative experience with Gags (and not being very successful in being friendly with Toons) would make her not very resistant towards them at all.
And with that, this lore post is over. If I think of anything else pertaining to this, I may make a followup post!

I was scrolling through tumblr posts because as one does lmao, I searched lesbian sonadow (I'm not sure why, I just adore the genderbent stuff so anyways), but I saw some talk about how there's never anything messy or angsty with blazamy or lesbian ships. Like it's always "cutesy hehe haha" and doesn't feel as real as when people characterize sonadow as a ship.
Honestly yeah I agree:(( I think the difficulty with wlw ships specifically in sonic for example, is that there's not always a lot of things to go off of canon wise (not an excuse btw I wish there was more realness displayed with Sapphic ships myself, unless you disclude whispangle), whereas shadow and sonic have a lot of conflict and tension to sort of base off of.
But then this had me thinking "I am an artist" therefore, I want to now make this kind of content HAHAH-- i think there can be plenty of things you could do to make blazamy way more interesting than two cute girls dating and being all cutie patootie.
I feel there can be a lot of interesting takes one could do when it comes to blazamy in regards to amy and her interest for Sonic and how that may make Blaze feel. I also feel these two balance well from one another similar to sonic and shadow, because of them being opposites but with similar morals and goals. It's so difficult to also characterize amy nowadays because we have SO MANY FLIPPING DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF HER IT ACTUSLLY DRIVES ME INSANE IM NGL. Anyway, i feel using her hot headed personality would be the most realistic and as for blaze she's stubborn herself so you can also work a lot with that too. They're both also self sacrificial (similar to sonic and shadow cough) and both are typically underestimated even tho they're more than capable of handling themselves.
This is a lot of rambling, but I really do feel that there could be a lot more interesting content or storylines for these two and that it's sort of underrated as a ship because of this issue altogether. I adore sonadow myself, but I do love other ships as well ofc and idk. I know lesbianism is often portrayed in media with a tragedy (which also sucks because then they die in the end so yippeeee!!) But like that doesn't mean there can't be conflict because that's not how it works either. ok that's enough of me rambling sorry if i make zero sense i had no sleep

(W.I.P. AU Concept Idea) DayNap "Cycled Forms" (AU Name... don't know yet)
Not me procrastinating my basic ass DayNap fanfic with even MORE DayNap ideas suddenly manifesting in my brainnnn. Ughhh. Oh well...
Very long, stupid, unfinished idea ahead. You've been warned.
Anyway, one of my "ddnt" posts (#1 basically) kinda-sorta stuck around in my head a little.
It's still SOMEWHAT like a turn based game, I guess? Fantasy-esque world. The basis of Dogday and Catnap's design is basically still the cartoon variations, probably taller or at least more adapted to the scenario. This is "to be determined still."
Dogday and Catnap are basically some fresh out of training specialized warriors/protectors. Tasked with putting a stop to some recent outbreak with these shadow creatures that are somehow roaming about at any time of day. In any time that is NOT night time (morning/afternoon/evening), these shadow creatures are relatively weakened. Still a nuisance at best, but they're much weaker at these other times of day.
Therefore, Dogday and Catnap can still deal with them with relative ease and their own specialties. (An easy going time inspired by THIS track, against these not-so-threatening foes).
Dogday's capabilities (Not finalized) are best summarized as being good with:
AoE (Area of Effect damage), Buffs (Strength and Defense stat raising for the both of them), himself generally being tankier rather than a damage dealer (potentially a skill that let's him take a share of the damage Catnap would have normally received in full. Noble sacrifice).
Catnap's capabilities (Not finalized):
Single-target damage, speed, maybe some partial healing? (I swear I remember hearing about some concept like moonlight having healing properties before, I dunno where though). Anyway, the trade-off thus being he won't last long HP wise. And he has not-so-great defense per se. Glass-cannon-y.
These basic traits aside, remember how I said the shadow creatures are weaker when it's not night? Well, make it night time and they're much more dangerous foes to do battle against. Larger in size, more damage, the whole works.
But then it stands to reason... that Dogday and Catnap should be able to handle the night shift too. So, what's the best way to let them fight these stronger enemies? Duh, get stronger themselves. In some way.
And that way, I say, is with their Night-time ONLY available "Cycled Forms!" (Get it, DAY CYCLE. HA-). (The alternate version of the previous song really inspired the idea of night-time battles for me. Primarily from 0:56 onwards)
*They don't get forced to change into these forms, but they know it's strategically the right move. So they don't really hesitate to use them in battle. (And I am sincerely hoping I'm not stepping on anyone's toes with any of these ideas. I swear I'm new around here! I don't know all the amazing things y'all have probably cooked up as your own ideas already. I promiseeee!!! *sob*)
Dogday, at Night, can become... EtherealDog! It's basically him with slight changes (that I haven't worked out yet, but maybe star-like pupils) and a flowing aurora borealis just moving along his body. He's still a bright guy, even at night! (Most likely similar to this kind of color scheme or this one... I can't decide.)
He gets to float slightly off the ground, but not "fly" with this form. Now, he manifests different colors of light that shine prettily and spectacularly. And these lights add new things to his arsenal.
EtherealDog can:
Inflict status conditions with his dazzling, brilliant light (and one of them surely is a very strong blinding condition that leaves the enemy seeing nothing but a bright white light), use a light that burns so bright it can melt things with high-degree melting points, or you know, some thick ice, but also he can use a light that makes it very chilly as well, potentially freezing things (at least I'm pretty sure I remember some sort of media that did something like that before). Basically, think "a little" elemental (not all of them though). He does have some of his previous capabilities, but maybe he's "less tanky" to offset for some balance. Idk.
Now, as for Catnap, at Night, he can become... (Dark) MatterCat! He'd also slightly float off the ground, but not fly. His color scheme would be something very much like this here, basically a darker, crimson purple, kinda spacey matter-y thing flowing through his body much like the case with EtherealDog. This form has no mouth, but he can talk just fine (perhaps the sound of his voice just projects off of him?). His eyes are pure white but still express emotions normally (Think like Spiderman's mask, but no stripes or lines or anything. …And also NOT a mask, fyi. He's still just one solid, yet flowing matter color).
Anyway, (Dark) MatterCat can:
Make faux (fake) objects out of matter (like a sword or matter shield) which creates more possibilities for him to defend or develop other strategies instead of only being some big damage attacker, and also he'd for sure have empowered healing by using "pure matter" that could restore HP and relieve either of them from a status effect inflicted on them. He may even have a skill that requires a lot of concentration and power from him that may send an enemy into the vast, dark matter dimension where the pressure there just sorta crushes the foe. Trade-offs being he'd lose some speed and some skills may require more time (turns, I guess) thusly.
The only thing to consciously remember is these special forms are NIGHT-TIME ONLY. So they're way less powerful, themselves, if it's not Night.
That's really all I've got so far. Nothing's set in stone. I barely thought of this today.
Their personalities don't change from being in a different form, just so you know. They're still as they usually are (subject to change).
I think Dogday would be capable of fighting, but also have hesitant thoughts that make him wonder if they really need to be doing this. He'd contemplate other options before understanding there's probably no other way out of the situation they're in (hence the ddnt post where he hugs a Li'l Shado instead of destroying it).
Catnap would rather just get the job done and not think too hard about it. So he's definitely fine fighting if it's called for. But he cares a great deal about Dogday's safety in all of this too, just as Dogday would care for his.
Dogday, watching Catnap attentively because it's the cat's turn: Remember to be careful!
Catnap, focusing but appreciating the other's concern: Don't worry, I've got this!
The duo always work together. They know each other well enough to be great friends because they've been training together and learning more about each other in that time. Still, the adventure calls for blossoming feelings! And being amazed with what the other can do in an actual fight. It's just how I roll.
-
Could very well edit these ideas if I wanna come back to this. But it's a placeholder for now until I figure out if I wanna go through with it or not. Even then I have so much to doooo ahhhhhh- Curse my obsessionnnn!!!!!

'These people are of different ages, statuses, and origins, but there is something equally peculiar to them, that is, they all share a slight addiction to pain. They like the stinging sensation when pharmacists apply herbal remedies to their wounds and enjoy the dull pain caused by pressure on their bruises. They even seem to care little if anesthetic is used or not when they are put through painful therapies. Surprised by their extraordinary endurance (...)' — Yelan: Lore (Character Story 1).
The topic of her supposed 'addiction to pain', or as fanon light calls it: her pain kink. No, and no, it's not a no because I feel any specific way towards said kink, but because the take doesn't align with the rest of her character. Yelan, arguably more so than any muse I write (even Kafka), seems to be written off as being 'the most sexual' because of how playful and seductive she presents herself as, and worse yet, the amount of both extremes of sadomasochism being tied to her character is absolutely unreal. So let me... set the record straight as to what I believe that they're insinuating, simply if you look at the consistency that this plays into. Forgive the preface here, but it's important.
'Yelan wasn't always on her own. Many years ago, she once had a team who watched each others' backs. But back then, Yelan had not yet realized that her clever tricks and ingenious traps, the skills that she took pride in, could not solve everything for her. Enemies with a strong sense of self-control would not bite her bait, opponents with cunning and calculating minds would not fall for her schemes, and those with overwhelming power would simply strong-arm their way out of her traps. Therefore, Yelan and her team paid the price.' — Yelan: Lore (Vision).
Yelan is actively responsible for the death of the entire team that she led into the Chasm. Of course she didn't 'pull a trigger' directly, but it's described as an obvious case of negligence. She's described as having been prideful when it came to her capabilities, and apparently assumed that she could handle anything the Chasm could throw at her (and her team), and she was proven wrong in the worst of ways. It was likely the result of a naive mind, and the lesson that she faced immediately had an immense effect on her, as she stopped, isolated herself, and trained until her bowstring was ridden with the blood that hung at her fingertips, and her intense dedication to never letting this happen again, resulted in her hydro vision. Yelan carries a survivor's guilt that she never talks about (and is mentioned by Yanfei during Perilous Trail: 'From what I know, she's lost comrades in the line of duty before, and then was rescued herself. Maybe being a survivor is what makes her so against seeing other people sacrifice themselves. How can things ever be the same again, knowing that your life was saved when others weren't? In a way, salvation can also be a burden.'), but such a mental burden is carried with a person throughout their lives, in many things that they do, and she is no exception. Her way of dealing with it, seems to come out through an incredibly methodical approach to her work, she investigates everything from all angles, because never again will she be neglectful, never again will she leave a single stone overturned, nor will she ever overestimate her own capabilities in planning, battle or anything else. Very simply because doing so could cost others their lives, and that's a no no.
Now you may go, 'okay Sae, but you just ranted about how methodological she is, you haven't touched on—', actually, I laid all of this out because it lies at the forefront of why a line like this is a thing:
'You have to be very careful with sweets. That powerful sense of satisfaction... it weakens your willpower and makes you relaxed. It only takes a few bites to get addicted, and with long-term consumption, you'll slowly but surely lose your edge.' — Yelan: Voice-overs (Least Favorite Food)
She's practically outright stating that she doesn't enjoy things that seem to control or rather, influence your mind in any way, and beyond that, continue to affect it well after that (addiction, and long-term consumption that leads to 'losing one's edge'). This also would tell me that Yelan would primarily likely steer clear of alcoholic beverages and caffeine ('I prefer drinks like this (tea) with a long-lasting aftertaste to things like coffee and spirits.'), or would consume only very little of either, as the former influences you directly, and the latter sends you on a sort of 'high' which results in a mental dip afterwards. It would be disastrous for someone like her if she's intent on staying very aware.
Now, after all of that, the topic on pain. The reason behind this is likely two-fold, I wouldn't be surprised if I one day learned that, on a lighter level, this is 'the least she could suffer' for not doing enough to help others. God knows how much they may have suffered in pain, so enduring even a semblance of pain may be a form of punishment. But more so, I think that this part of the first quote 'they seem to care little if anesthetic is used or not', plays into the same reason that she doesn't enjoy anything that inhibits her mind in any capacity. Anesthesia numbs you, it numbs you to touch, it can numb you to smell, it can influence your sight, it simply numbs a part (or parts) of your brain, it'll make you a lot less fast on your feet. Everything about it screams a big time 'no' for Yelan. So no, it's not that she enjoys pain, as nothing else about her character seems to insinuate that whatsoever, but everything about her character does insinuate that she's inherently methodological, and so anything that reduces (or risks) the efficiency of that part of her, is generally a big no-no.
#me at my own tag for yelan: shakes myself because it hits me like a ton of bricks each time. this is why i do this.#i've been meaning to touch on this since forever. and today was the day.#[ yelan. ] i can't change the facts. but if it's a choice between the cold; hard truth and blissful unawareness: i'll take the former.#[ yelan: meta. ] the chances are if i open this door; there can be no witnesses left alive. is that a sufficient reason for you?

Paperless Clinics: How Software Is Fueling a Digital Revolution
In the recent past, the health sector has experienced a very radical shift from paper-based systems to much more efficient and secure systems, fully digital. The trend of taking clinics paperless is not just something that is passing through; it is a revolution when the delivery of healthcare services, management, and optimization are concerned. With advancements in technology, there is this pivotal role played by software solutions in the elimination of paper records and workflows, which drives up better patient care and operational efficiency.
Another reason why most healthcare facilities are opting for paperless systems is that they're efficient and secure. Paper-based records often consume time, contain errors in data entries made personally, and literally become messy in handling, especially in a fast-paced clinic. In this way, clinics can rest assured that patient records will not be lost, stolen, or accessed by other people.
Digital work allows healthcare professionals to readily glance at patient information that otherwise would have meant the time spent to search for a file within physical files. In this respect, instant access to complete, current records greatly improves quality care and quality decision-making. Additionally, electronic records can be safely backed up so there is no critical loss of data, and they are always available in case the system goes down.
How Digital Workflows Improve Healthcare Services
The workflows are, therefore, very critical to the change in the provision of healthcare. Processes are eased and, thus, will easily allow for managing appointments, patient records, billing, and communication among the staff in the clinics. Such digital workflows may even automate many of the time-consuming tasks such as appointment reminders, prescription management, and patient notifications, freeing up more time for the healthcare professionals to focus on direct patient care.
Digital systems improve communication between departments in a clinic and among medical practitioners. A doctor can have access to or refer to lab results immediately, imaging reports, or consult with specialists without leaving the system of the clinic. All the details of care for a patient are streamlined through this interface, thereby reducing possible errors and improving outcomes.
Telehealth is another well-known benefit of digital workflows. In virtual consultations that come with electronic-based systems, the clinics are capable of reaching more patients than who cannot get themselves to a physical clinic for physical appointments. They reduce waiting periods, boost the activation of a patient, and enhance higher productivity in a clinic.
Transition Steps of a Clinic into a Paperless Clinic
Paperless clinics are all about planning and execution. There are great advantages, but a number of steps are involved for a seamless shift from paper to digital. Here is the roadmap for clinics on how to shift successfully towards paperless practices:
Evaluate current systems: Before applying the digital solutions, clinics have to evaluate their previous workflows and areas that need improvement. Knowing the existing gaps helps them choose the right software and tool for the clinic.
Choose the Right Software: The proper selection of software is part of this process. Suitable software will look into comprehensive features, such as the scheduling of appointments, EHR functions, billing, and telehealth integration. All of this should be achieved with considerable data protection. The selection of scalable and capable software will be able to keep up with the size changes and regulations that the clinic has.
Train Staff: The new software will require an an introduction and staff training on how to use the system so that they can work properly. Proper training will reduce resistance to change and ensure that staff is confident navigating the new digital workflows.
Digitizing patient records—this will take years for a paper record to be converted and changed into electronic, but it will make a clinic go fully electronic; the clinics can scan most of these patient records with some doing as addendum from time to time.
Ensuring Compliance and Security: Since digital records are being kept, clinics need to be in full compliance with data protection regulations, and their systems must meet the health standards required within their country of operation, whether it be HIPAA here in the United States or similar laws in the country in which they operate. All such systems must provide features that include encryption, login security, and data backup to ensure the confidentiality and privacy of patients.
Monitor and Optimize: After the paperless system has been established, constant monitoring is a must to maintain its performance, and changes can be made to optimize the paperless system in the clinic. Feedback from the staff and patients will always keep the clinic working at its best.
Conclusion
The shifting of the clinic towards a paperless clinic is the first step to modernizing health care delivery. By implementing electronic systems and workflows, clinics will be able to improve the quality of care provided, ensure efficiency in the operation, and also ensure the safety of patient records. Although it is highly complex, implementing a paperless system has many advantages, short-term and long-term. It is possible that with the use of the correct software and effective planning, clinics can take up the new revolution in the digital world with superior care delivery, higher productivity, and very contented patients.

your tags raise a fair point about historical abuse of mentally ill people here /gen. i was mainly thinking of caretakers and psychiatric wards not having sharp objects around though
phrased slightly differently, "we" as in western society as a whole and how it currently treats mental illnesses, which although has plenty of past and present Problems i personally think 'taking sharp objects away from people with a history and/or intent to self harm' is really not a problem in this regard (and honestly is something that Should Continue imo). it may be a problem in other cases (ex adults with down syndrome that are perfectly capable of handling a knife and therefore deserve that agency) but in siffrin's specific case of 'can and has used it to kill themselves' i frankly highly encourage taking that knife away until they're more mentally stable.
the fandom infantilization of Siffrin upsets me. like yall thats a whole ass adult!!!! he lived on his own for like 10 years!!!! without a home or a community to call their own they survived and did well enough that their first meeting with the party was SAVING THEM from a Sadness!!! the entire party's impression of him was on a scale between "extremely suspicious stranger" and "cool and mysterious"!!!! their reaction in the first loop to odile bringing up the super potion incident was to bat their eyes cutely!!!! they start the touch therapy thing in the garden room on their own initiative becasue they're aware of their own mental health needs!!!! Siffrin is a chaotic gremlin ADULT who manages his own shit perfectly fine until he's put in a situation tailored to target his personal weaknesses with laser precision!!!!
like... yall. Siffrin looks after people around him. Siffrin has strong opinions on taking care of children. Siffrin is second oldest in the party after Odile and shares a unique understanding with her.
Siffrin. Is. An adult. An asexual, nonbinary, short adult who's managed to remain functional and autonomous despite serious neurological problems without any support network. The rest of the party thinks he's cool because he is. They have strong moralðical principles that they act on, rather than just personal duckling imprinting loyalty ("I love you personally because you're mine" comes up nowhere in his speech to Bonnie about why he would protect them at the cost of mutilation again - it's purely about Bonnie being a kid and adults having an obligation to protect them)
Like... there's this perfect storm of Siffrin being - explicitly asexual, implied on the aromantic spectrum, - mentally ill with brain damage (the memory shit) and also physically disabled (the eye), - nonbinary, - short and thin, - quiet with cutesy mannerisms, - specifically needing care and affirmations at the end of the story, that combines to people lumping them into the "cute baby to be taken care of" category, consciously or subconsciously to various degrees
but like
no it's actually pretty important that Siffrin is an adult who needs those things
mid to late twenties is an adult
mid to late twenties having lived on his own since mid to late teens is VERY MUCH an adult!!!!
give me Siffrin who drinks. give me Siffrin who gambles. give me Siffrin who used to engage in a variety of high risk hobbies/games/activities that they've scaled back on since joining because they identified Mirabelle and Isabeau as impressionable youngsters to be kept safe from bad ideas. give me Siffrin who is competent at a wide variety of random odd jobs because that's how they used to make a living. give me Siffrin who has a wide pool of mostly but not exclusively shallow medical knowledge and an unsettlingly deep expertise in first aid because he's had to take care of himself for a decade (and who picks up Healing Craft quickly&effectively compared to the years people usually need to study it due to this 'field experience'). give me Siffrin with multiple failed relationships in their past, some of which ended amicably due to the natural process of self-discovery and drifting apart, some of which ended because the other person was an asshole, and some of which ended because Siffrin himself was an inconsiderate jerk. give me Siffrin who used to be a much more unpleasant person, including on purpose, when they were younger. give me Siffrin who can in fact be trusted with sharp objects post-canon but avoids some of them of their own volition now because they're aware of self-harm urges being a bad thing to be avoided and are capable of managing that for themselves when outside of an active ongoing mental breakdown!!!
give me Siffrin who is better at flirting than Isa is!!! give me Siffrin who can talk Mirabelle through her hangups and anxiety attacks!!! give me Siffrin who engages with Odile as a peer when the rest of the party sees her a an elder!!!! give me Siffrin who is good with children from the position of an adult who has the patience and empathy to indulge them!!! ALL OF THESE IN THIS PARAGRAPH ARE LITERALLY CANON FACTS ABOUT SIFFRIN!!!!!
sickfic about Siffrin is great!!! give me sickfic where at one point everyone else falls apart from fear and pressure and Siffrin, all while still having a fever and stumbling while walking, steps up and picks up the slack!!!
give me a fic where Siffrin helps Odile deal with the unsettling experience of her new research topic having antimemetic properties by sharing his own tricks for dealing with memory loss!!!
give me a fic where Siffrin keeps having to scale back their flirting with Isabeau because they keep stumbling on Isa being unable to articulate or even realize his boundaries and have to make a project of walking Isa through basics of healthy relationships!!!!
give me a fic where Siffrin teaches Mirabelle about the wider world outside Dormont and outside her sheltered bubble as a Housemaiden!!!
give me a fic where Bonnie increasingly relies on Siffrin as an adult to come to with problems, and Siffrin keeps having to develop new skills and areas of knowledge to effectively help!!!!
give me a fic where the party has no idea how to help Siffrin with a problem because Odile has never had a problem quite like this in her life and the rest of them just feel completely lost in the face of experience they have never had!!!!
GIVE. ME. SIFFRIN. THE. ADULT.
(also, on a tangentially related personal preference aesthetic note, give me Siffrin with scars. give me Siffrin who overdid Healing Craft in the last loop so bad Mirabelle couldn't heal them cleanly and who is happy to have reminders that these events really happened and are over now and he's still in the same timeline. give me Siffrin with top surgery scars deliberately kept as an aesthetic affectation. give me Siffrin whose face did not heal cleanly from the loss of an eye. give me Siffrin whose body reflects their history and experiences)

[!!!MANIFESTATION ZONE!!!]
THIS IS SO OFF BRAND, OH GOD.
But well, I'm tired of complaining, for real. I'm tired of running away. I'm tired of working my ass off to transform for people who wouldn't even lift a finger, and god, how they'd love me the same way i'd do to them. And maybe rather than blindly wishing those things, let's try in a more magical way. I think.
I manifest a partner who has a good emotional capability and intelligence to handle me, and to inspire me to do the same for them and other people.
I manifest a partner who's confident with what they're doing, that they don't need assurance from other people or even maybe from me. They know that they're good on whatever they're doing.
I manifest a partner who can stand up for themselves, therefore they can stand up for anybody else. They takes good care of themselves and other people, and has a heart big enough to keep a sympathy for other people.
I manifest a partner who wouldn't fight for their ego. I want them to know when to lose, and when to win. And all that for the good and well-being of other people, not for themselves. Not to give a pat on their own shoulder and tell themselves that, "you won the argument!"
I manifest a partner who's honest. They're not the type of "hey at least i'm being honest!" but they know what to do and what not to do, and if they made mistakes, they will apologize rather than making their honesty a big thing. Because it's not.
I manifest a partner who can makes me feel secure. Not because i feel insecure, well that too i think, but secure as in i don't really have to put up my guard 24/7 because i know they can handle it. I know that i will be safe and sound. I just know.

I have many thoughts, and I wouldn't exactly say I'm gonna say what I'm gonna say in defence of trauma dumping because it's not a defence, more perhaps an explanation of sorts...? But also this got away from me a little and I am sorry but I can't edit out any of it.
I don't know if I have ever trauma dumped on anyone, BUT I know for a fact that i have said things offhandedly that have made those around me extremely uncomfortable and often that discomfort turned to pity.
Where I was coming from at the time was this very deluded notion that was supported by everything I have ever since on tv and social media in general, and that notion was that everyone is suffering. Everyone has shitty parents. Everyone feels misunderstood. And sure. To a degree, yes. BUT. While it's important to see others suffering to know when to lend a helping hand for those in need or to simply sympathise with your fellow people it is a whole other thing when one uses that very same concept to excuse/normalise abusive behaviour. I am not disregarding the idea completely. Everyone has gone through varying degrees of shit. No one comes out of life unscathed, and that's a very human thought that we must all come to in order to be better. Unfortunately for the longest I have twisted that notion into something that it wasn't supposed to be and it was this; oh, so everyone went through very similar things as I did and worse and they're capable and well adjusted unlike me! Not only does this mean that what I went through was completely normal but also that I was merely incapable by default or some design in my system to better handle it! Other people feel exactly the same as me! Therefore, it is normal to feel this way!!
This is a stupid way of thinking of it, and not only that, but it is also a dangerous trap. Not everyone has gone through the same things. And me thinking that meant that I often made casual comments about my own experience with my parents specifically and how they treated me. And I regretted it every time because I would either get unwanted pity that confused me - or that other person would flat out say that their parents would NEVER do that or that they themselves would NEVER resent them which in turn would make me feel like I was lying about my own experience... which is just beyond stupid, but that's how i felt. It felt like when anyone denied this "universal" experience to be theirs, what they were really saying is that it didn't happen to me either. It couldn't have because my upbringing was normal! Just like theirs! Or it meant that it also happened to them, but they were the ones who handled it better, who, despite it all, never felt unloved. They were simply more grateful, better children to their parents or OR they were somehow deemed to be more worthy of love and support because in my twisted little mind I couldn't comprehend that not everyone had the same experience that I have because that is how i learnt to deal with it. I had to confront after too many occasions where I would slip up, and people around me would turn to me with pity that this wasn't, in fact, normal. And I guess maybe that isn't trauma dumping because they weren't strangers but we weren't that close either; I simply felt comfortable enough around them to talk about these things and because I was very isolated from my peers growing up I had no idea what was normal and what wasn't. Not to mention that everyone in my family normalised what went on. It seems like a common way to deal with stuff like this. Your mother shrugs it off, and your older siblings makes jokes of it, and you know it feels wrong but you don't know how to put it into words and everyone around you is acting like it's fine and then everyone on TV and online is saying that everyone goes through shit and you twist it and twist it until you also believe it is normal. Because if isn't. Well, that could mean many things, but one of them, the wrong conclusion, could just be that you deserved it. If other people aren't treated like that well why were you? Maybe you were too unruly too loud too disruptive. Maybe you were undeserving of love. And that is too bitter a pill to swallow, so you instead normalise it.
I guess I am just saying that one could slip up and say revealing things about one's experiences because one does not have a grasp on how not normal it all was until people deny them the excuse that it is normal. Everyone has shitty parents. Everyone felt unsafe around their father. Everyone was more relieved than betrayed when their father abandoned them. For that matter, everyone's father has abandoned everyone! I know that's a running joke online, and I know it is based on some truth but. Am I the only one who, instead of finding comfort in this knowledge, believed that it was normal to the point that when I see a loving father, I am still to this day thrown. Confused. Envious. I have met many people who have loving normal, wonderful parents who might not be perfect still, but there is love there. Unconditional supportive attentive kind of love. And I think it's important to remember that's normal. That should be the standard.
On another note, the normalisation of any kind of abuse is a very ugly trap. My mother has only just come to terms with the ways she has been abused as a child, and that carried over well into her adult life. She has repeatedly seeked out the same controlling personality to mould her life around. It can get you into dangerous situations if you don't know the difference between what's abuse and what's normal and unfortunately a big part of being around an abuser is that they will make you think their behaviour is warranted and that you somehow were deserving of it. And. The saddest part is that even after you combat these thoughts, come to these very uncomfortable realisations, and assign blame where blame belongs , you still might not be able to call it what it is. I slip back into normalising my childhood so often, mostly because I don't feel like anything that bad happened to me. It could have been worse. Some have it worse. That is such a dangerous slippery slope. If you do not grant yourself sympathy, you might go around talking about your horrible fucked up experiences like it was nothing to people who have also gone through something of the same degree! And then that person who might be dealing with the same struggle (calling it what it is) might fall back on the same crutch that you are clinging to - "oh, it wasn't that bad, really." And I don't think I need to say this, but that kind of thinking really makes one an easy target for further abuse. It is this weird disregard for your own well-being that came from being treated like that in the first place.
Also. This is uncomfortable. But. When a child is abused and they normalise it, not only are they likely to fall into similar unhealthy relationships where they are being abused but... they also might grow up to be the abuser. Maybe that doesn't come from normalisation as much as a victim complex, WHICH SOUNDS MEAN BUT BARE WITH ME. The abused child is absolutely the victim that is no complex. But then it happens too often that when that abused child grows up and they have children of their own they treat them the same way they were treated because they not only believe it to be normal but also are convinced that their pain was somehow bigger. If your father regularly choked you, what's a few slaps on the head and a lot of yelling? If it happened to you every day, what's a few times a week really?
And that's why comparing your pain and experiences to measure up who is the bigger victim is counterproductive. No one benefits from trying to dismiss someone else's pain, and that is why I wanna make it clear. Everyone does go through shit. Absolutely. This isn't a competition that's not my point. My point is how fast spread abuse can get if we continue normalising abusive behaviour, and to stop doing that first, we have to acknowledge that not everyone has been abused.
Ha. I really thought I said something groundbreaking there, but I bet that's just obvious to some. That's, I guess, the point of this post. It's for me to remind myself that it isn't normal. Not everyone was abused. And I guess it's a post for anyone else out there if they struggle with coming to terms with how bad their abuse was, if they want to keep dismissing it because it is easier than dealing with how it changed them, and a reminder to not. Do. That. It doesn't work. It only makes things worse. Call it what it is.
#tw abuse#tw trauma#thoughts#wow i have nothing more to say#i had to get this out i had to write it down put it into words#otherwise i might just start dismissing my own experiences again#and its sad that i have to remind myself that it doesnt benefit anyone else out there#to either trauma dump on them accidentally#or make someone else question their own experiences#when it should be enough that it isnt good for me#ah i guess i did have more to add after all!#personal#ok to rb

Santi has heat👀What's his like,is it similar to Breg's or a little different?I feel he'll just be a horny mess. Will he use his harem or no? Or will his s/o's body change or "adapt" for his heat (also the design for the mark is very beautiful and alluring I'm sure any design you settle for will end up amazing<33)
[Aaaa thank you! :7]
When posed with the fact that concubi can have heats, you might think to yourself- Hold on now, if they feed off intercourse, what is the point of having heats in the first place? They're likely to reproduce as they are, with such a libido.
And you'd be right! See, heats have different purposes for lust demons, and therefore, are only considered "natural" in very select instances. A lust demon will experience ruts in the following circumstances:
Transition into adulthood. This is considered the "second puberty", and it lasts for the better part of a week once full sexual maturity is reached;
Starvation. It's a last ditch effort to force the concubus to feed themselves;
Eating too much. During these heats, the concubus does not feed, they exist solely to expend excess magic/energy- Duration depends on how much needs to be expelled;
Being exposed to the aura of their perfect match for the first time will trigger a smaller heat, that can last up to two days;
See, the vast majority of time, Santi experiences heats because he eats too much, gluttonous pervert that he is. In spite of him being a high-ranking incubus, which makes him capable of handling a good amount of magic (think of it as having a particularly elastic stomach), Santi's gotten used to overeating and maxing out his own "storage capacity", so to say. It's... Kind of the lust demon equivalent of an eating disorder.
So while he does get thrown into heats relatively often, they're not "natural", per say. If you want to avoid them, you'll have to confront Santi about his overeating. Which I do not recommend, because he gets a bit defensive, it's kind of like trying to rip a steak from a lion's mouth. Tread lightly. Ultimately, these heats aren't dangerous, just inconvenient.
The harem is used before he meets you, once he meets his perfect match, the harem is disbanded and you'll be the focus of it, unfortunately.
Santi's heats are curious in the sense that a lot of his charm vanishes. He simply does not have the patience to make witty banter or woo you into bed. Either you're there to fuck or you're out of his sight. He becomes a lot more irritable, and that's when you're likely to remember he's a demon, not just a funny, sexy guy with horns.
Physical changes happen overnight. Body temperature skyrockets, it's a good thing he's already basically naked all the time- Even then, it's not uncommon to see him huffing and fanning himself, dunking his body into the tub like a cinder block. He salivates excessively, his slit lubricates constantly and his eyes are perpetually glowing to attract fuckmates or drive off competition/danger. He also cannot help the pheromones that spread everywhere he goes. If a rutting concubus enters a room full of people, it will devolve into a mindless orgy within minutes. Other than those details, he's generally the same in in terms of appearance.
Adding onto his significantly curt demeanor around this time, he leans almost entirely on dominant mindsets, especially since you're human, and therefore smaller than the demon. If you're hanging around the house, you're getting fucked near constantly. There's a good and bad side to this. On the one hand, Santi is not feral, so you definitely won't get fucked to death, and there are intervals where you're properly tended to. On the other, you very much won't be able to think clearly around the incubus and will basically experience the equivalent of a muted heat yourself.
In the moments where Santi is apart from you, for whatever reason, he's usually snarling and grumbling, jerking off madly in an attempt to burn through energy faster. In fact, get ready to catch him grinding against things like a bitch in heat, it does help end the rut faster, though it'll probably only result in more sex, since you'll inevitably be turned on by the sight.
Now, this is the standard heat, without you being marked. Because, having his mark changes things quite a bit...
Marks aren't as wholesome as just a symbol of infatuation, they're not a pretty indicator that a concubus has their eyes on you- They're mechanisms of control, embezzled ones sure, but they still equate to an invisible leash. Having Santi's mark connects you to him in ways you can't control, and one such is how in-tune with his heat you are. In fact, funnily enough, Santi's likely to know he's about to enter a heat when the mark on your mons starts getting a pink tint to it.
Right off the bat, your body temperature will also increase, you're going to be extremely antsy when Santi's away, something keeps telling you that you need to be by his side, that he needs something you have, that he'll be upset if you stay away any longer. Santi knows you're going to be feeling this way, and neither does he have a desire to stay apart either, as his brain will immediately target anyone with his mark as a prime candidate for relief.
Albeit a form of betrayal from your own body, you'll feel great levels of arousal when Santi is looking at you, or establishing physical contact of any kind. There's a trigger that goes off in your mind, and suddenly the only thing you want to do is get on your knees in front of the demon. Needless to say, Santi loves having you like this. And sometimes, just sometimes, he purposefully triggers heats just so he can see you beg to fuck him.
It essentially becomes a much more mutual ordeal. Will someone wake up in the middle of the night getting fucked? Probably. Will it be you or Santi? Hah, find out!
You should probably not leave the house in this state, your impromptu arousal will lead you to turn to other people for "help". And Santi will not like that one bit.

that's an easy question for them to answer; one that's given rather enthusiastically at that. “ i may be a machine, but my knowledge is limited only to what i have learned so far. if i have not experienced it, then i do not know it. therefore, because i have never been at the bottom of the sea, i do not actually know what is down there. but… ” a small smile touches their lips as they follow her along the smooth and sometimes rocky paths. “ someday i would like to see. i am uncertain if this exterior will be capable of withstanding the deeper parts of your ocean, but if it can handle the stars, then i suppose it can handle the pressure of so much water. ” though to be safe, they're probably going to look into adding a few extra augments just in case. it's a nice sentiment to daydream about when there isn't much else you can do in this world, at least outside of the games. Eden can't die, so that isn't something they necessarily have to worry about, but if this facet were discovered by the mastermind, it might draw unwanted attention upon themselves. so they've taken care to play by the rules and avoid any situation that could result in their ‘death’ – this included deviating from this predestined path to play games and do something else. “ actually… i have wanted to ask. what was your life like before you came to this place, miss Ann? you do not have to answer if you do not wish to, i am only curious. i like to document the people that i meet. ”
PATIENCE is one of many of Ann's strengths. She's in no rush for an answer, even if her limbs feel heavy with exhaustion. The last game had been tough, more physical than what Ann preferred. But nothing too bad and Eden's scan has made it clear there's not been any UNSEEN DAMAGE either. ( Frankly, it isn't something she's thought about. Mostly because she can't afford to when there's little medical care in this world. If only there was a doctor at the beach. ) But with Eden's approval, she offers a thin smile. " It's a nice break from all of - " Her free hand gestures towards The Beach " - this. "
With that in mind, Ann decides to be the one to lead the path to the shore around The Beach. It's not difficult; but most people these days stayed within the Beach's perimeters unless playing a game or doing a supply run. She's one of the few that the Hatter trusts enough to allow to venture out. ( That, and the one bridge off this area is easy to keep guard on. ) " At the bottom of the sea? " Ann tilts her head to think about it. " Not often, no. I suppose I tended to be too focused on my own work before. I've heard theories that what we think is the bottom might not actually be the bottom of the ocean in some points. I'm sure there's lots of fascinating things down there. " She looks towards Eden curiously. " What about you? Do you know it all, or is there lots still that you too are curious about? "
