Uhhhh I LOVE Lance and Pidge's dynamic, and I LOVE the concept of them being like siblings to each other.

Like Pidge reminds Lance of his niece, while Lance reminds Pidge of her older brother. They both get homesick a lot, and just resort to hanging out with each other bc they make each other feel like they're at home.

Idk I like the idea of them doing stupid sibling stuff. They steal the game console from the other's room, they snatch food that's clearly labeled "Lance" or "Pidge", they have inside jokes no one else gets.

She makes a real effort to muffle her steps, which is endearing. Enough that Lance is smiling slightly as she finally steps onto the observation deck and sits down next to him.

“Hey, Pidge.”

“Hey.” Her voice is quiet, subdued. As awkward as it is determined. “You okay?”

He draws his legs up to his chest, wrapping his arms around his shins and resting his cheek on his knees, facing her. She mimics his position, and they sit like that for a bit, comfortably silent.

“I will be.”

Pidge hums. She stares at him for a while, amber eyes tracing over the tear tracks dried onto his cheeks. “You’ve been coming here a lot,” she observes. “Used to only be around once a week. It’s almost daily, now.”

Lance blinks in surprise. He hadn’t thought anyone had really noticed.

“Oh.”

She must read his thoughts, because her eyes turn a little sad, like she’s hurting for him. “Everyone’s thinking about you, Lance.” Her smile turns sly. “Keith especially. He’s too awkward to talk to you himself so he came to me like a huge nerd.” She lowers her voice exaggeratedly, frowning deeply and wiggling furrowed brows. “‘Just go see if he’s okay’, he says.” She continues her Keith impression, waving her hand mockingly. “‘I can’t ask him, that’s weird. You have to. But don’t let him think I asked you to.’”

Lance laughs even as his cheeks heat up. “You’re messing with me.”

“Nope,” she says, reaching over to poke him in his cheek. “He was all emo and broody, as usual, but this time about you. He might as well have procured a bouquet of flowers out of thin air and composed a ballad in your honour.”

“Have I told you that you’re annoying, lately?”

“Nope. You’ve been too moosh.”

Her frankness sobers him right up, although he supposes he should expect it from her. Pidge isn’t known for beating around the bush.

He sighs, looking away. His cheeks are red for a whole different kind of embarrassment, now. He can’t believe he has the whole team worried about him and his tiny problems when there’s a war they’re supposed to be fighting. He’s being dramatic and he knows it.

“Sorry. I’m not trying to be.”

“Hey.” She punches him gently — well, gently by Pidge’s standards — on the shoulder. “No one’s annoyed or upset by it, doofus. You’re allowed to feel shitty. You’re a bajillion miles from home, and Hunk told me you and your family are like those annoying cartoon families who get along all the time and actually like each other.”

Lance scoffs in mock offense, punching her right back. “Are you of all people accusing me of being friends with my siblings? You broke into a military facility to search for your brother!”

Pidge grins. “It’s cool when I do it.”

“Yeah right, asshole!”

“Buttmuncher!”

“Headass!”

“Birdbrain!”

He can’t quite keep the faux-annoyed expression on his face any longer, grin tugging at the corners of his mouth. She grins right back. Some of the pain in his chest eases.

The homesickness doesn’t go away, exactly.

But Pidge makes it easier to handle.

I love the Keith and Lance friendly antagonism/rivalry (yk that thing the show could've eventually gotten to but forgot to) as much as the next person but I will always be the biggest Pidge vs Lance rivalry/friendly antagonism

It's too funny cause neither of them value the same things as being the thing to compete in, but they're also both competitive

Like I think Keith has to be pushed to care about competition tbh (or at least the writers had to contrive situations and his personality to make it work) but Keith doesn't hugely care about the same things Lance does in the way that eventually it was clear, even when they did really contrive to make Keith care, that the whole thing was really one sided (which is interesting but in different way)

But with Pidge and Lance, they both value certain traits in a way that even though its not the same and theyre each competing over different things, the pair of them would believably die on their respective hills just to prove a point, in a way that Keith just wouldn't. Pidge and Lance will go above and beyond to compete and be petty in a way where they know they have a close friendship but also they're gonna win. That competition can rarely be mistaken for actual antagonism and when it is or if it actually is, then the two are direct and blunt enough too to get to the bottom of it

Meanwhile being playfully mean for them would be different, cause they're both highly insecure and while competitiveness is one thing, being mean to each other would kind of cause problems for them if they hit a button or nerve they weren't aware of

I think Keith and Lance are better with the sort of relationship where its less competitive but more that they can honestly express their more negative traits and beliefs in front of each other without fear that the other will try to correct or fix the others belief. They can be as playfully mean, negative or cynical as they want in front of each other cause they're both the sort that try really hard not to come across certain ways and try to hide (sometimes in vain) these parts of themselves. They can show their darker traits that others would be concerned about to each other and know that the other is capable of being honest enough to both be able to handle it but also to know when there should be some actual concern and lines drawn

Plus on top of this, competition for Keith has always been this thing put upon him so tbh I think that's also a reason for me why Keith and Lance should be more playfully mean than competitive cause for Lance competition has been historically safe and fine for him with certain people, while for Keith it's always been something that has had people treat him negatively and therefore means something different to him.

This got longer than expected but TLDR (shut up ik it's not that long): Pidge and Lance are the rivals, but Lance and Keith are the playfully mean ones. Maybe that just makes them rivals but in a different font but to me that different font is important

yo I need y’all’s opinion on the Sheith vs Klantis (or just Klance) discourse way back then??? I personally think Shiro and Keith’s relationship is platonic but I would actually like to hear other people’s view points of Sheith whether they shipped Klance or Sheith or none.

Shance:

No matter what I would die for Shance. Healthy, unhealthy, canon, au, they’re all so fuckin good. Shance is one of the most versatile ships, and I love it. Not much to say, except more people should discover how beautiful Shance is.

Kurance:

Look. I like it. But I’m very specific circumstances. Though I think their platonic relationship is a bit more interesting than a romantic one, their complicated relationship intrigued me. Especially because of how Kuron treated Lance, and how Lance perceives Kuron (Shiro).

Lancelot:

I say this with a lot of love, but I love lancelot in the most toxic way possible. They're really fun when they're soft and loving, but them as worsties? *chefs kiss* delicious. The drama. The toxicity. The angst. I want them to be the worst couple ever. That, or the cutest. I love their relationship being Horrifying™️ as y’all who have read wirip could probably tell.

Plance:

This is the one ship that I just have fluffy feelings over. Friends to lovers all the way. Just two dorks in love, tbh. I usually read more plance over platonic relationships but that’s because I really dislike how fanon portrays their relationship (and IMO plance writers just do it better). But this one, I’m 50/50 over a ship/friendship. No matter what, love their dynamic.

so i think i should change some of the tags because i planned for allura/romelle and veronica/acxa but im having trouble fitting more than a few hints in 😬 probably doesn’t help that im pretty sure im somewhere on the ace spectrum so writing romance is super hard for me if im not in a really specific mindset lol

other than that, i don’t really have any plans for hunk or keith because keith is so aro/ace to me istg lol and hunk is ace as well i more envision him with like a close queer platonic relationship tbh

Oh hello anon!! I never get asks about fandoms outside ATLA so this is super exciting to me 😂

I vibe with plance in a sibling bond kind of way. I think they’re great friends— best friends that have a hoot together. Of course, as a general multi shipper I can also see the value in a romantic relationship between them. It could be cute and I’ve seen some amazing fanart for romantic plance!

The real reason that romantically it’s not my cup of tea is because I personally headcanon Pidge to be non-binary and aroace.

A Home Changes With You WIP 3

“Piiiiiiiidgey!” Called Lance, flinging open the door and nearly sending his friend shoot off her bed as they let out a screech. “Hiya! All is set; I told Allura you were feeling too tired for our night, and I dragged Shiro into it instead! So don’t worry about any misgendering, you’re all good!”

Pidge leapt off their bed of her own volition this time, tackling Lance in a bear hug and grinning so widely their nose scrunched like a bunny’s.

“Thank you!” She cried, clinging to him and burying their face in his shoulder. “I really really appreciate it, Lance! There’s literally no way I can handle so many people calling me a girl right after I figured out I’m agender; one of them wouldn’t walk away with their head attached.”

Lance laughed, ruffling their hair and quietly locking the door behind him. The last thing Pidge needed now was to be outed to the team.

“You’re still trying to get used to the label?” He asked, plopping onto her bed and continuing to hug them.

“Yeah,” admitted Pidge with a slight sigh. “Sometimes, it feels off, and I get scared that I’m wrong and just wasting your time, but…the rest of the time, it just feels like I nailed it. Like this is who I’ve always been meant to be.”

Lance nodded, and Pidge nestled in a little more. “Still got it, Lance?” She murmured.

“Still got it, Pidge,” he stated, running a hand up and down their back. “It’s okay for stuff to still be setting in. And regardless of your gender, you could never waste my time; you’re my little sibling! I’m here for you.”

Pidge gave a muffled hum of acknowledgement, drawing back and rubbing at their eyes with a yawn. Their glasses slumped at the motion, skewing across her face, and Lance chuckled as he adjusted them back to balancing down the bridge of their nose.

“Thanks, Lance. Hey, I was poking at one shop; look at all this agender merch!” Added Pidge, plopping onto their stomach on her bed and flipping up their computer screen. “These shirts are so cool! Plus, now I get to make millions of coding jokes about my gender!”
