Thinking about the time I lost a game of Overwatch and I was so mad about it that I genuinely considered getting into shit with the other team in chat and then realized that it was a colossal waste of my living breathing Human Time and uninstalled Overwatch instead because it was only making me angry.
And then thought about the OTHER time when I was on TikTok and realized I was Not Enjoying Myself and was, in fact, seeing so many sad videos and fake influencer ads that I felt Truly Despondent and then just…Deleted it.
Imo I want my social media /general media experience to be a pleasant break from real world and I get to decide what I get to cull to make that a reality for myself. I highly reccomended it! Life has improved considerably!

absolutely pointless and inane post -> i saw a post by a home design influencer (first mistake) who made a very cute "art club" playhouse for her kids and painted delicate florals all over it. beautifully executed but i wish the kids could paint some of the outside of their clubhouse. it's theirs :(
let kids make bad art with materials that are "too permanent" in spaces that are "too important" to have bad art on them. child labor murals now

We need you now more than ever‼️
I am Iman from the northern Gaza Strip. My family and I have been displaced for 9 months. We are going through very difficult conditions, with death passing before our eyes every day and daily massacres happening every hour. Our bodies are exhausted from the lack of healthy food, and life has no meaning. My father's source of income was completely destroyed by the occupation, and we have no source of income now. All we have is the simple tent that shelters my family and me. Today, I urgently need your help and donations to save us from this genocide. We are in a catastrophe; this war is ongoing, and many people need to stand by us.
Verified by @el-shab-hussein @nabulsi
I am grateful for your support in saving our lives from this genocide.

He-man.org will close in 5 days.
He-man.org has been a staple of the Masters of the Universe community since the early days, originating as an email list that worked to document episodes before anything (not footage, not lists, nothing) was available online. It grew into a sprawling, multi-faceted beast of a thing, including an encyclopedia (an in-house wiki), merch lists, a marketplace, forums, anything you could think of.
Several years ago now, the main site went down for updates/maintenance. For a few weeks, we were told, maybe months. The forums remained open for fans to communicate, and barring a period of downtime earlier this year things were going smoothly.
Yesterday, the owner of the site, Val Staples, announced the site would be closed on November 14th, 2023. Six days later. We are currently attempting to contact him, to see if he’s interested in selling, and if he means closed as in “no new posts” or closed as in deleted entirely. Regardless of its eventual fate, the archiving of these forums is essential to preserving the history of the franchise, the fandom, and the brand.
Tumblr media
TO SHE-RA (and MotU) FANS SPECIFICALLY: I have personally used these forums to answer questions that could be answered nowhere else. Had I not had access to them, I would never have been able to prove that Purrsia was fake, or found so much unpublished concept art, or discovered that Scott “Toyguru” Neitlich personally wrote Catra’s MOTUC bio (even if he’s put off answering my questions about it for over a year now). Forum members have conducted interviews with the likes of Jon Seisa, Cathy Larson, Janice Varney-Hamlin—essential figures in the very foundations of POP, and those interviews revealed and recorded priceless information for future generations (me! you! us!) to find. Did you know Cathy Larson named Adora? That she originally pushed for “Dorian”, after her own daughter? We cannot let this treasure trove disappear into the ether(ia).
TO THE UNAFFILIATED: Please help. Pretty please. If you’ve ever liked my art or my writing or my haphazard blogging, ever, at all, consider archiving just one board. Just one page. Literally anything helps. I am spiraling into madness & this is my library of Alexandria. The mythical one that was totally unique and persevered nowhere else and was destroyed in a single cataclysmic event. Pretty pretty please help.
HOW TO HELP:
Archive.org has several ways to upload shit but most of them are longer term than “a few days” so we’re focusing on two (which can be run simultaneously): Save Page Now, and browser extensions. From their help page:
1. Save Page Now
Put a URL into the form, press the button, and we save the page. You will instantly have a permanent URL for your page. Please note, this method only saves a single page, not the whole site.
Tumblr media
We want to keep outlinks and screenshots wherever possible. The Archive does not keep your IP address, so your submission is anonymous.
2. Browser extensions and add-ons
Install the Wayback Machine Chrome extension in your browser. Go to a page you want to archive, click the icon in your toolbar, and select Save Page Now. We will save the page and give you a permanent URL.
Tumblr media
One plus to installing the extension is that as you surf around, when you run into a missing page they will alert you if we have a saved copy.
More extensions, apps, and add-ons:
Firefox add-on
Safari Extension
iOS app
Android app
I strongly encourage you to use these tools even if you aren’t helping with this project/after it ends. Documenting and preserving information is essential in this day and age & The Internet Archive is at the heart of it. Please support them however you can.
I’m serious about paying you, though I may need more communication with folks I don’t know so we can coordinate/verify shit gets done. I think this is a worthwhile pursuit in itself but I recognize your time is valuable & like, people gotta eat. DM me if you’re interested and we’ll talk. I may need to adjust pay depending how many people bite but I’ll do what I can

Have you considered some of the responses ur getting may not be containment breaches but people kinda rightfully annoyed someone who owns works for a company actively complicit in genocide, who's uniquely privileged to own a home suddenly has an opinion when it could finally affect you? you can tout it like it's for others and ppl shouldn't need to advertise the shit they do off-site to prove they care—but in the same way you know someone's about to be racist or a pain in the ass b/c of the language they use the way you talk abt this shit is a dog whistle for some of us who are already in the trenches.
it's ur blog but if asks are open and u force me to see that bullshit i ain't keepin quiet
Goodness. I need you to know this is deeply not normal.
It is just so deeply not normal to look at someone's blog, which contains a fraction of a fraction of their life, and come to the conclusion that I have too many good things happening, and I haven't sufficiently proven to you that the depth of my moral character also includes caring about other important causes, and therefore me asking people not to elect a fascist dictator is a "dog whistle" for me being a bad person.
Like I cannot reiterate enough how supremely not normal it is to look at someone's anime-icon blog and conclude you know me, like this is somehow the first thing I've ever cared about, and you can patch over the gaping holes in this conclusion by hand-waveishly calling it a "dog whistle" for--again--me saying please don't elect the fascist billionaire.
I'm asking you to hear yourself. This is not normal.

I'm making this poll because I use post dates, and in this day and age it seems, to me, that it's absolutely imperative that we be able to tell when a post was made so we know whether or not it's outdated information. I've occasionally seen posts reblogged of old outdated news that makes me wonder if the person reblogging it uses this feature. I'm also curious, if you don't use it, why not? Feel free to elaborate in the notes!

Hey, so if you use Bluesky and care about your safety, don't. If you've been a victim of stalking, for your own safety, please stop.
Bluesky makes a large amount of user data very public, including blocks and lists subscribed to. Clearsky is an app used to keep track of who-blocks-who and is a tool that's been repeatedly used to aid in stalking.
I've seen people recommend creating alternative accounts to use moderation lists so that they may block people "safely" and "privately." This method no longer works because the stalker app™ is now sharing list subscriber data. This is data that abusers can use to gain access and target you.
Bluesky claims that blocks are nuclear. Blocks are not nuclear when the people you've blocked can access you through a third-party app. Blocks are not nuclear when your userbase is full of serial abusers and cyberstalkers who can easily make alternative accounts and access their victims through the use of clearsky.
Please be careful out there.
