On the other hand, astrology’s initial goal was to predict a person’s future based on the positions of the planets and the zodiac signs (the 12 astrological constellations) at the time of his or her birth or conception. The foundational methods of astrology were created from this field known as genethlialogy (casting nativities). General, catechismal, and interrogatory are the three primary branches of astrology that emerged following genealogy.

General astrology investigates the connections between social groups, nations, or all of mankind and key astronomical events (such as the vernal equinox, eclipses, or planetary conjunctions). It provides astrological explanations to queries the bru had previously been asked in Mesopotamia.

Whether or not a chosen moment is astrologically favourable for the success of a course of action started in it is determined by catarchic (pertaining to beginnings or sources) astrology. It basically goes against a strict interpretation of genealogy because it enables the person (or corporate body) to operate during astrologically favourable times and avoid any failures implied by nativity.

Based on the heavenly conditions at the time the client asks the questions, interrogatory astrology responds to the client’s inquiries. This astrological counselling service necessitates that the astrologer undergo ritual purification and preparation since it is even more removed from determinism than catarchic astrology.

Other types of astrology are variations on one or more of the aforementioned, such as iatromathematics (the application of astrology to medicine) and military astrology.

Historical development

Astral omens in the ancient Middle East

The astral omens used in Mesopotamian divination were later incorporated into what is now known as astrology in the traditional sense and formed the basis of a subfield of astrology called natural astrology. The cuneiform work Enma Anu Enlil, which is devoted to celestial omina, began during the first dynasty of Babylon (18th to 16th centuries BC), even though lunar eclipses appear to have been viewed as foreboding at a considerably earlier period. However, this series’ ultimate compilation and codification were not finished until the start of the first millennium BC. A standard version, however, never existed, according to the tablets that have survived, the majority of which are from King Ashurbanipal’s (7th century BC) Assyrian library. Each copy featured a distinct layout and contents that were intended to make it easier for the owner to consult the omens.

The four major categories that the Enma Anu Enlil omens were divided into were named after the four main deities who were involved in the ominous communication: Sin, Shamash, Adad, and Ishtar. Omens related to the Moon’s earliest crescents, eclipses, haloes, and conjunctions with certain fixed stars can be found in Sin (the Moon); Sun-related occurrences like eclipses, the simultaneous observation of two suns, and perihelia (additional suns) are dealt with by Shamash (the Sun) as omens; Ishtar (Venus) contains omens relating to planetary phenomena such as first and last visibilities, stations (the points at which the planets appear to stand still), acronychal risings (rising of the planet in the east when the Sun sets in the west), and conjunctions with the fixed stars. Adad (the weather god) is concerned with omens relating to meteorological phenomena, such as earthquakes, thunder, lightning, and cloud formations. Although this network of watchers was formed throughout the Assyrian kingdom in the 7th century BC, their reports frequently mention these omens, they appear to have fallen out of favour by the conclusion of the Persian era’s rule over Mesopotamia (ending in the 4th century BC). The right linkages between celestial phenomena and terrestrial events were afterwards sought out in numerous writings collectively referred to as the Diaries. The Achaemenid dynasty controlled Persia from 559 to 330 BC. Prior to this evolution, however, parts of the ancient omen series were directly conveyed to Egypt, Greece, and India as a result of their dominance of these cultural areas or of their border regions.

Astral omens in Egypt, Greece, India, and China

An ancient demotic papyrus based on an original from around 500 BC provides the bulk of the evidence supporting the transfer of lunar omens to Egypt during the Achaemenid period. The remnants of a treatise written in Greek in the second century BC and allegedly addressed to a King Nechepso by the priest Petosiris point to a more comprehensive usage of Mesopotamian heavenly omens.The second book of the Apotelesmatika, or “Work on Astrology,” by Ptolemy, a Greek astronomer of the second century AD; the first book of an astronomical compendium, by Hephaestion of Thebes, a Greco-Egyptian astrologer of the fifth century AD; and the On Signs of John Lydus, a Byzantine bureaucrat of the sixth century AD, all included material from Enma AnuThe Magusaeans of Asia Minor, a group of Iranian settlers influenced by Babylonian ideals, provided another another route of transmission to the Greeks. Several Classical books on natural history, especially those of Pliny the Elder (c. AD 23–79) and the Geoponica, contain their lessons (a late collection of agricultural lore).

Numerous works on heavenly omens also exist in various Middle Eastern languages, though it is still unknown where they came from and whether they are directly related to Mesopotamian culture or came from Greek or Indian intermediates.The most significant of these writings are those that the Harranians attribute to Hermes Trismegistus and are now preserved in Arabic, the Book of the Zodiac of the Mandaeans (a Gnostic sect still active in Iraq and Khuzistan), the Apocalypse, which is attributed to the biblical prophet Daniel and is still in existence in Greek, Syriac, and Arabic versions, and The Book of the Bee in Syriac.

During the Achaemenid occupation of the Indus valley in the fifth century BC, it appears that Mesopotamian omen literature, including the material in Enma Anu Enlil, was transmitted to India. Buddhist missionaries played a significant role in bringing this information to Central Asia, China, Tibet, Japan, and Southeast Asia. The earliest indications of this knowledge may be found in Buddhist literature from this time. But the earliest iteration of the as-yet-unpublished Gargasamhita (“Compositions of Garga”), which dates to around the first century AD, is the most significant of these Indian texts and the oldest one still in existence in Sanskrit. The original Mesopotamian text was changed to conform to the Indian social structure, which included the four-caste system and the upper castes’ obligation to carry out the samskaras (sanctifying ceremonies).

The Brhatsamhita, or “Great Composition,” of Varahamihira (circa 550), the Jain Bhadrabahu-Samhita, or “Composition of Bhadrabahu,” (circa 10th century), and the Parishishtas (“Supplements”) of the Atharvaveda (possibly 10th or 11th century), are the most notable later collections of omens in Sanskrit, though these add little, However, there is a significant infusion of Arabic adaptations of the ancient Mesopotamian celestial omens as conveyed through Persian (Tjika) translations in the works titled Tjika from the 13th century and afterwards. In the older Sanskrit works, the omens’ links with astrology had mostly been in the areas of military and catarchic astrology; however, in Tjika, they are strongly related to general astrology.

Presenting OMEN/CONSTANCE - Soundtrack for Oneiric Roleplaying, the next release from Ri47 Heavy Industries

this album's been a while in the works, and I'm happy to finally have it done! following up the previous ttrpg soundtrack I wrote, NOMAD/VIRTUE, I thought it'd be interesting to make an album that focuses less on music for action sequences and more on those quieter moments that don't necessarily take place on the scale of mechanised warfare

so without further ado, here's 46 minutes of otherworldly atmospheres, unsettling revelations, and stories spun in astral silk

included in this album are ten tracks, including three experimental ambient tracks intended to lend a tense emotional atmosphere to any scene without necessarily implying a specific physical locale

while this album was assembled with gothic and eldritch horror in mind, pulling influence from survival horror classics, it also works nicely in plenty of other genres, bringing a unique otherworldly atmosphere to any table

i want peace,

not the measured one that life offers me from time to time like a band-aid that will be ripped off before I heal

sometimes it feels like all my feelings are over felt, if not by me then someone else.

I've seen it over and over again I, the eye of an outsider

or that of the storm

stood still when it all spiraled around me, I held on to the rubble,

and cemented myself back together

more often than not, I did it with rage so whenever i got spilled, like blood under an old rug,

with all my particles separated into different identities, unseen, uncared for while i floated in an astral projection status

Ironically, the core was always one

rage, rage again…

Woo! Finally back :) Himeko is shortest despite being the first part I worked on.. unexpectedly difficult to write for.

✏ Packed up with unknown origins and left to wander as a fresh face with a gaze filled with wonder and raw sincerity like a piece of paper waiting to write out your own life, you're welcomed with open arms to travel between the stars and treated as if you've been around for a longer than even more than the Conductor themself.

☄Stelle/Caelus (The Funky Sibling)

- The one saving and dragging your ass out when you dive into troubles (particularly that is caused with/by them in the first place). You both be topping the most troublesome duo due to them being a calamitous influence on you, literally before you know it, you're already in it together; doing a little bit silly tomfoolery, antics and trash treasure hunting.

Despite them acting out a deadpan humor 23/7, they're gutsy and all when the situation needs it especially on that one time you're to hide in a closet with them from the Goethe Hotel's resident devil. Hands down they would really give a beating/long roast and rant to whoever is the unlucky person that mistreat you they aren't going to let it slide as long as you're under their watch, you have to restrain them back literally if you even could...! Trailblazer is either the living personification of your inner demons, intrusive thoughts, the very lethal temptations that need to be acted upon with you as the enabler or you can be a little goody-two shoes yourself and be the one affecting them under good impact—to be a reasonable member of the society, that's fine too. You can't change them at their core anyway, they're still their own person with a mind to act as they like, the omen of chaotic authenticity (you still play a big role in determining their behavior structure since they would be swayed easily especially if you ask nicely with a cherry on top and puppy eyes).

They like to gift you random trinkets you would've thought that they stole it off from some high class places or people (they might have) but most are actually from trash cans, they don't tell you that of course unless you ask nicely with a Cherry on top and even then you'll have to go through their original recital of the quote unquote, 'enlightening hard-fought' battles and journeys for obtaining the valuable trinkets.

You can count on them for any shiny secret of the stars/universe for sure, they're up to give you some thoughts-empty philosophical preaching that would leave you both more questions than answers. Onward to another illusion of free choice.

❆ March 7th (The Mouthy Cousin)

- The one treating you to accessories or piece of clothing she thinks you would be fit in or anything that might catch your eyes in the shopping sessions with her. You're mostly being treated as her dress-up doll or best companion for her to dump the juicy gossips or trends she got her hands on depending on her mood, no in-between.

March is always gushing about you one way or another, snapping pictures of you with her together so fast in a row of clicks that you can't really stop her from how... active she is. Surely she's just a harmless big fan of yours. In reality, she absolutely have tons of your candid pictures in her another separate limitless-storage camera. Any expressions, poses, and moments about you are a must she couldn't miss it a sec! She's literally keeping a secret album or scrapbook filled with them she could beat Dan Heng's data bank collection in that category at this point. What you don't know, wouldn't hurt you, right? Sometimes she and the Trailblazer quarrel against each other in terms of borrowing you as a partner/company to go with, like March would maximize all her brain cells potential for any reasons she could make up on that occassion or she would just have to delve in the intense battle of rock-paper-scissors.

She's your reliable source for up-to-date information and all the sensational tidbits, so you're very forced encouraged to count on her at that!

✒ Dan Heng (The Silent but Deadly Brother)

- The voice of reason, the dependable go-to in gathering and tidying up your thoughts, undoing the knots of jumbled up thoughts since he has the most braincell compared to the certain two others. Before you realize it, he's the person to depend on mostly—the closest you can reach out to anytime possible, you could be baring your heart to him and you wouldn't possibly realize when he has already keep it safe to somewhere out of reach from anyone else. Now, you would be holing yourself up more often in his room. Since he has this cultured cool air that makes him seem cool and competent, his words are credible ordinarily and thus influence your decision-making ability more like he would only need to tell you not to do something just in a quiet and clear tone and you could feel your temptation to inflict chaos withdrawed for the time being.

More frequently you might start to see yourself hovering close to Dan Heng or, is it him who has been always there from the first beginning as if knowing all your frequent spot and routes? Somehow you get the highest urge to be well-behaved under someone's silent watchful eyes that felt prickly with uneasiness it's almost like he has you on a leash.

You would be more prone to choose this alternative more than that option, taking up that one method because it's proven effective for you. Dan Heng doesn't need to do anything too drastic, what thoughts have he learned and collected about you are rarely let out too, it's giving him a peaceful satisfaction to know you're secured in his lines of thinking unless you start to go off the rails and gets your well-being threatened, that's when he will step in, revealing the moment you could witness he doesn't actually have that much self-restraint to uphold like the two others.

❇ Himeko (The Coffee Aunt)

- The one spoiling you rotten, similar to how March is, but in terms of more lavish things, clothes, and including weapons...!? She would every month give you enough allowance for you to splurge on depending how well you're behaving.

In your life, Himeko has become your driving force in a way you might not notice and you would end up only be ashamed of yourself after she gives you this disapproving look while telling you she isn't one to tell you something because she embodies a spirit of being adventurous herself, but she wouldn't be sure if you could do fine yet getting into specifically dangerous things like that. It's up to you nonetheless, she won't stop you, she wouldn't refuse to give a helping hand even in your supposedly own mess you made and if you had learn something you might regret for being involved with... be sure not to let her know or she would keep impelling you towards those things over and over until you get stronger as her way of training so you could face them by yourself that in the end, you might seek more journey and challenging ways of life to bask yourself in...

Of course, you also have the privilege to have her special coffee. In fact, she never stops getting ideas of new blends she could give to you based on your experiences so far—they would give it a more everlasting taste in your mouth that you wouldn't ever forget, don't you think? As reminded of that spacious and overwhelming milky way...

✦ Welt (The Thoughtful Grandpa)

- The one most doting and lenient on you who still keeps you under a protective control. Welt is the perfect balance out of the family; experienced, compassionate, has a boyish charm, sophisticated and wise. He's someone who you can't help but love him simply as the youthful parent he is. Either way, he has become the important part of your life, eager to keep pace with you and find out your latest development or daily journey. He likes to provide you with some of animations mixed of his experiences, everything that had passed up until the current time, your adventure and/or everyday routine as entertainment and even hinted education through clues and points you can take note from whenever you feel like you're in a bind in your life situation. Even just being in his company when you wind down, any conversations with him will result a rich fruitful knowledge and enlightenment philosophy if you let him get carried away with his track of thoughts, though it's still relaxing to hear his voice at least.

There's almost no cons that could trascend past the pros of him overall. No matter the struggles and troubles that you meet, you feel like you can tackle anything and having your hopeful future figured out, laid down to you that the only left thing to do is to believe in it then follow with all the courage you gain from reaching up to this far. Probably since a certain someone has been watching out for you and taking care of you too well as if you're his own child. You may notice Welt is discreet yet quite selective in allowing few people into your life, leading you away from fated encounters with the ones he advised to not get yourself involved, sparing you off the hassle to face a risky battle, and many others that you feel like he's shaping your life sometimes. But it's not like he's all that controlling or restricting, so it should be only wise to just trust him and leaving some responsibilities for him to take on, right? He's the experienced member who acts as if he's from the far off distant future that leaves momentous traces of his presence for you after all...

ᰔᩚ Pom-pom (The House Pet Owner)

- Guardian of the train with their own whole soul, with you as the passenger, they're all the more fussy about you with commands to take care of yourself and not neglect your health if you seem unwell (get ready for a more intensive checkup). At any signs that comes from something off even a slight dust speck or different scent on you will be brought up, interrogated, they need to make sure you're at your best most of the time! They couldn't have you feeling down as well or they would feel (even more depressed throughout the day) -as if they fail to fulfill their main purpose and duty, maybe there could also be something about the train that somehow bug you or dampen your mood...

So it's totally recommended if you depend on them; with some tasks in scope of their abilities (they will make sure to give their all and taking them very seriously), you can tell any nicely worded feedbacks or constructive criticism (if you even have the heart to reprimand them for it, shame on you) and hug them kindly for your needed soft texture of comfort dose (after much convincing, they are not to be treated as a stuffed animal!! but they're most indulgent on you without much consideration, they do appreciate and feel happy for being treated or praised this kindly). Pom-pom also wouldn't want you to tell the others (they still know though) that the conductor has always been giving more bonus rewards for you only.

Galacta Knight looks at Gooey and is befuddled. He has no idea what that Weird Blob Thing is but he seems friendly. Once he learns that Gooey is Dark Matter (either by sensing what Matter he's made of, or someone telling him), he's incredibly wary of him. Of course, after spending some time together at a picnic with Kirby there, Galacta doesn't mind the funky little blob as much.

(Alternatively, after finding out about Gooey being Dark Matter, Galacta immediately tries to destroy him. The Star Allies have to step in and tell him Gooey is not an enemy. Gooey doesn't mind though and forgets about this incident later.)

Ask game, please! Dracula AU where Jonathan is a werewolf. It doesn’t end well (well, even sooner) for the count.

Ok love this also we're throwing werewolf lore in a blender to make this work and kinda fit the original novel. Kinda.

1- ok so Bram Stoker was Irish so our dear friend Jonathan is a descendent of Laignech Fáelad and the werewolves of Ossory, though one who's family has been in England for at least several generations now. Also, these are the "astral projection of spirit in the form of wolves" type of werewolves described in Nennius of Bangor's Historia Britonum, similar to the ones Augustine of Hippo say are possible through God to fight evil because uh whatever Christianity thing is going on in Dracula.

2- So when Jonny boy shows up to Transylvania and all the locals are freaked out about something, he looks in his Romanian to English dictionary and sees they're using a word that means either vampire or werewolf. And then he wonders if the Count is a werewolf too, and is curious about how that works here- the only other werewolves he ever knew were his mother and grandfather, but they are tragically long dead since he's an orphan who sees his boss as a parental figure. So when he hears wolves in the woods, he's not too concerned yet. When a woman presses a rosary into his hand, he awkwardly takes it and wonders if she'd be superstitious of him too, if she knew- but he really wants to meet the Count!

3- but then he meets the Count. And the Count does have the ability to somewhat control wolves... But he really also sets them off. They don't like him. And Jonathan? His inner wolf does not like this guy, it's unnatural, it's bad, he wants to bite but!! He can't do that, he's a real lawyer now and Mina would be so disappointed if he used his first customer as a chew toy. So he grins and bears it, wondering if it's just a territory thing, and wondering if the castle is so empty because the rest of the Count's family is out in wolf form. But... Where are the servants or anyone else?

4- Eerily, Jon goes to sleep, and his human body is left behind in his bed while his spirit pops out in wolf form. He can't smell anyone. Just the Count, and three faint scents, but they don't smell human. They don't even smell like real wolves. They smell like long dead corpses. Still nervous, Jon curls up in the corner and tries to get some rest as a wolf.

But then the Count comes in while he's "sleeping", getting close to the bed and frowning at the rosary. Jonathan's spirit werewolf has had enough and just jumps up, lunging on instinct to protect his human form.

A wolf battle commences, but Dracula hasn't had to put up an actual fight in so long, and Jonathan has the power of God and anime on his side so he wins- and the lady vampires drop dead from their connection to the Count. Freaking out about the murder, Jonny returns to his human body and runs.

5- when he returns to the town a day later, ragged and panicked, when the town hears about all four vampires being dead... They throw a party of a "funeral", everyone swears up and down that the Count and his family tragically died of a wolf attack the day before Jonathan got in and he found their bodies when the coach took him to the castle, and he's sent home bewildered but his boss is like "wow that really sucks, I'm sorry you had such a horribly unlucky first case, let's keep you close to home from now on. Also is your hair white now?"

No vampires travel into England, Jonathan is worried that his wolf form now being stark white is a bad omen, but Mina just pets him behind his ears and says she thinks it's cute, oh, also, Lucy wrote her about one Doctor Van Helsing that a friend of hers knows, he heard about the strange wolf attacks in Romania and blamed it on vampires, can you believe?
