National Indigenous People’s Day celebrations in Millbrook First Nation were marked this year with the return of a piece of Mi’kmaw heritage and culture that dates back to the nineteenth century. “The first time I saw the regalia, pictures don’t do it justice,” said Millbrook First Nation Chief Bob Gloade. “What it represents and what it means and the artwork that’s been involved in the regalia, everything just came to life.” Community members gathered at the Millbrook Cultural and Heritage Centre for the unveiling of historic regalia repatriated from Australia. Ok peeps. Time for some RAGE education. RAGE is a music video show that has been running in Australia since 1987. Yes folks, I have just found out that it is STILL airing. I don't know what the show is like now but back when I used to watch it in the 90s/00s it was mostly a music video countdown of the latest hit songs (kind of like MTV). The music video would start and the song details would be featured in the bottom left corner (exactly like in the Ca$h music video parody - they even used the same font).

Thing is, they had these terribly iconic opening and closing themes that they like, never changed or updated.

That is the purpose of this post. I wanted to share those opening/closing credits because I feel like Heartbreak High really captured the aesthetics of them with their "RAGE music video" of Ca$h rocking out to Smalltown Boy. Enjoy!

apologies for being australian on main two times in a row but i find it really funny when people from other countries are first learning about the creatures we have over here and are just. so confused and bewildered. i remember that post of someone talking about how instead of the Easter Bunny, we have a mascot called the Easter Bilby and someone reblogged it going "what the fuck", and i'm just sitting there like "..... yeah? i thought everyone knew this" and it's very entertaining. seeing people be genuinely bewildered, confused and afraid that this silly lil guy exists,

is some of the most entertaining shit ever and it'll never get old

this is the Greater Bilby, by the way, and it is currently a vulnerable species in Australia, with many efforts being made to save it from endangerment and extinction. there used to be a lot more of them, but because of threats to habitat and competition with other animals (like red foxes, feral cats and dingoes), they became an endangered species, though they fortunately now no longer hold that status. the Lesser Bilby is much less lucky though, as they were unfortunately deemed extinct in the 1950s. i love these lil guys so much and i want to hold one in my hands and give it a nice soft blanket in it's little burrow to curl up and fall asleep on :)

Brazil postponed for the second time the reintroduction of requirements to obtain tourist visas for citizens of the U.S., Australia and Canada, officials said.

Former president Jair Bolsonaro scrapped the visa requirements in 2019 to support the tourism industry, but the three countries continued to demand visas from Brazilians. The South American country requires visas from travelers based on principles of historical reciprocity and equal treatment.

The government initially postponed the visa implementation on Oct. 1. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in September then set Jan. 10 as the new deadline. On Thursday night, Brazil's presidency said it would be postponed yet again till April. 10.

I live with parents and travel 1 hour via train to uni and come back after my classes

Also the Universities are all in the same area? And none are really viewed as better or 'prestigious' but sometimes differ in recourses and experiences? They also cost basically the same and all take interest free student loans for tuition

A mineralogist says he is puzzled by a Chinese company's interest in an Australian company and its rare earth mine project in the Northwest Territories — while a journalist who reports on the industry says he can see both benefits and disadvantages for its new investor.

The mine's owner, Vital Metals, announced over the weekend that Shenghe Resources had purchased a 9.9 per cent stake in Vital and had purchased all of its stockpiled rare earth material.

Anton Chakhmouradian, a professor of geology at the University of Manitoba and an expert on rare earth elements, told CBC News he's not convinced the Nechalacho rare earth project will become an international source of rare earth material. 

Shane Lasley, the publisher of Mining News North, said there are challenges with the mine's location and the lack of infrastructure around it, but he disagreed with Chakmouradian about the quality of the deposit. [...]

The end of the Anglo-Japanese alliance is so awful and I know Hima will never show it in canon because of how fucked it truly was and there's no real way to tip-toe around it. Like for one thing the racism behind the decision making is inescapable, for example pre WWI one opinion of the Dominions was:

So it becomes a question of: Who do we trust more? Japan, who was a good friend for twenty years (21 Demands aside…) or the US, who everyone wanted as a friend but who was... not very friendly at the time. Australia and NZ want Japan, Canada wants America. Britain wants both.

Canada pushing and pushing (until apparently the Australian and Canadian Prime Ministers had an awful shouting match and part of me just wants to have been a fly on the wall watching Hughes and Meighen go at it but that's neither here nor there...) changes things, not to mentions vague threats from the US itself in time for the Naval Conference...
