Unique Superpowers for Your Protagonist!
Sure, telekinesis and super strength are cool, but let’s try spice things up a little!
Tumblr media
Petrification - The ability to turn things (mostly people) to stone! This would be a devastating superpower if in the hands of some sort of twisted villain. Imagine the horrific possibilities! Entire civilizations in stone, and one of your character’s has to unearth (haha, pun...) their mysteries!
Energy Conversion - With this super power, your character can take any form of energy and change its state! You could have a character who’s superhuman speed is energy from the sun transformed into crazy metabolism, or maybe a character who can defy gravity by changing kinetic energy into potential energy.
Vitalization - The ability to bring things to life! I’m not talking about dead people or animals, more like inanimate objects. Imagine a superspy who is able to give AI real life, or maybe a scientist who creates new creatures?
Quantum Manipulation - A superpower that is very customizable. You’re character could warp time or reality using the quantum realm, or maybe phase through objects by splitting up their atoms! It might not be too realistic, but it parallels science. Mostly.
Veterafication - A character with superpower has the ability to fast forward time on a singular object, maybe even people. I see one possibility: a homicidal maniac able to kill people in seconds with a touch of their pinky. Okay, there’s probably more ways to go than that, but imagine a murder mystery with someone with that power!
Materialization - The ability to create things with one’s mind. Maybe the character uses their energy to create the elements that make up whatever they’re trying to materialize, or maybe they pull them out of random portals to other places.
There! A super cool list of super unique powers. I would be interested to read maybe a paragraph or even a whole novel surrounding a character with one of these abilities! Anway, I hope this sparks some character creation and writing motivation. Happy writing!

A vast majority of people at some point wanted to write a book. Then how come they don’t? It is a simple matter of time. However that is absolutely false. Anyone can have time for anything— they just choose not to use it wisely or prioritize. In our digital age there are many distractions, the internet, movies, video games and so on. As a writer you must push aside the easy path, despite what most people say writing a book is not easy. It takes hard work and determination. If you know how to use time wisely and prioritize you won’t need much time, such as an hour a day. So here are some things that can help you ‘find the time to write.’
Disconnect from the internet. Put your phone on silent. Turn off your wifi. Are just the basics for staying productive. The internet can be a valuable tool for writers, but more often than not it is also a distraction. If you find yourself constantly drawn to it, make it so it isn’t a temptation. Going camping helps a great deal because, depending on your region has no internet. In the silence and solitude of your weekend, you can take the first steps to writing. Of course camping for the duration of the writing process isn’t feasible, but helps. Going into nature also helps with writing block. By camping you would hit two birds with one stone so to speak. Disconnecting from the internet would not only keep you from getting distracted, but will also provide you with the time that you would have normally spent on browsing various social medias or watching movies.
Write every day. This step doesn’t necessarily ‘create time,’ but makes it a habit. Make a rule to yourself that you have to write a certain amount of words or pages, or any other minor accomplishment before sleeping. That way, with some self discipline you will be able to push other small things aside so that you would sleep more and get writing done. Use with caution as you might occasionally get days where you can’t write anything at all, take those days off, but don’t go too easy on yourself too often.
Ignore writers block. Every writer dreads this moments, when words don’t come out of your brain and when they do they seem to be really bad. There are many ways people have figured out how to get out of writers block. A simple google search will give you dozens of ways. Different ways work for different people, you have to experiment and figure out something that works for you. What I find works for me personally is pushing myself and just writing anything, I can edit it later, but I can’t edit something I don’t have, so just go for it. No one sees your writing except you, so there isn’t anything to worry about. Going into nature, or even just a walk around the block helps. Having a simple object such as a snow glob to fidget around to gather your thoughts has helped me. Also don’t wait for motivation to stick you, otherwise you’re going to wait forever.
Finding a quiet place. Being of a roll typing out words faster than you can think and then someone starts talking to you and breaks your train of thought. Yeah,  happens to everyone. If its possible try being in a room alone without anyone and tell anyone your living with, roommates, family, whomever, this is the time for you to work.
Writing rituals? If you have been searching for writing tips you may have come upon people talking about writing rituals. What are they. Basically it’s a certain action that is done by the writer before they site down and write, such as; having a cup of coffee, listening to a certain soundtrack, pretty much anything. Does it work? No one knows, but the people who use this ‘method’, claim it works. It’s a way to trick your brain into thinking you’re inspired. If it works for you, do it. You will know when you found the thing that inspires you. If nothing strikes your fancy, don’t worry, just remember the most important tool for a writer, besides writing supplies is dedication. Nothing can stop a truly dedicated person so don’t stop writing.
These are my ideas of what to do to find time to write your novel. Remember, this is just my opinion based on my experience and research. Some of these tips may work for you, others might not.

AuthorLifeMonth2020 * Day 6: Inspiration * For me, music sets the tone for every book I write. Songs invoke emotion and I find myself playing certain ones over and over as I write a scene. * It might surprise you to know that even though I generally write #yahistoricalfiction, most of the music for my playlists are modern. Music to me is universal. Lyrics don’t have a time period or expiration date. Really, a good song is just a good song, and if it fits the character’s mood then I use it. * What about you? Does music play a big role in your writing life? * * * #authorlifemonth2020 #writerinspiration #musicalinspiration #musicislife #bookplaylist #musicplaylists #spotifyplaylist #amwriting #writinglife #writerlife #writingcommunity #writingcommunityofig #writingcommunityofinstagram #authorlife #authorinspiration #yareads #yareaders #yareadersofinstagram #booksarelife #shereads #igauthor #igauthorlife https://www.instagram.com/p/B8Orl53Abzg/?igshid=v95ex7bzg7i7

JANUARY AUTHOR CHALLENGE: DAY 16 What inspired you to write your first book? Alright so, one of my best friends at the time was dating this tragic ex (we’re very glad he’s an ex) but at the time was very much into this guy and he played Dungeons and Dragons. Now I am a total nerd, I love my fandoms, I’m superhero geek, I read a lot of fantasy, I was by no means riding on the cool train, but.. I had no desire to ever play D&D. It had such unfortunate connotations and I was like well I’m not THAT much of a nerd. Well of course, my friend asked if I would come with to one of his weekly sessions. It started with no, add some puppy dog eyes and next thing I know she’s dragging me to this campaign session and I want to be anywhere else but there 😂 I get there, I’m uncomfortable, I don’t know how to play and luckily everyone was mostly nice. So it all starts with a character sheet. Now for those of you who don’t play and don’t know what that is, a character sheet is two sheets sometimes three if you have magic that holds your stats, abilities, inventory, and backstory. It’s a really cool character interview basically and so instead of truly getting into the game I spent more than an hour creating Captain Shea Lara and falling in love. She was everything I wanted to be and from her Jo was born and a world blossomed. I don’t think I even actually played that session and later my dear friend dumped that jerk and I became a DM for a group of friends who actually played. But yeah The Veiled Threat was born from a Dungeons and Dragons character sheet. And let me tell you even if you never want to play I encourage you to print out one of those sheets because it is the perfect platform for constructing an OC 😁 #authorinspiration #authorsofinstagram #authorsophiamenesini #dungeonsanddragons #theveiledthreat #theveileddescendants #theveiledduchessseries #captainshealara #charactersheets #inspirationcomesfromtheweirdestplaces (at Martinez, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/B7b5ESVgGko/?igshid=16d410g6uo34y

Or wake up because you thought of your next scene to write. #careyanderson #careythewriteranderson #author #writer #authorsofinstagram #writersofinstagram #writerslife #authorinspiration #Repost @courtneywalsh ・・・ The moments (sometimes hours) before I fall asleep are often my most thoughtful brainstorming moments. It's when the house is finally quiet, the dog isn't getting into anything, nobody needs anything from me and I'm purposefully relaxing. I suppose it's no surprise then that these are the moments when ideas come my way. And I suppose it's no surprise that these are the moments that captivate me best. This is how I know I have to write a story... it's the one that grabs me and won't let go. It's the one that nags, the character who keeps tapping me on the shoulder..."Hey, remember me? I have something to tell you." As a writer, I have a lot of ideas. Sometimes it's a sentence, sometimes a whole book. Ideas usually start with a simple "What if?" question...but knowing which one to write next, that's easy. It's the one I think about when I'm falling asleep. Do you have a story that's nagging you? Do you have characters that won't leave you alone? Are you writing their story? #amwriting #authorlife #writingquotes #writingcommunity #writersfollowwriters #indiewriters #indieauthors #booklover #bookish #bibliophile #writinglife #booknerd #wordlover #wordnerd https://www.instagram.com/p/B2Wy6CWDZ_r/?igshid=utwa3zvoioj6
