Hey Stormlight fans why are we so quick to forgive Dalinar for killing innocents- including his own wife, but when it comes to Elhokar, whose worst crimes were just being immature and incompetent- both of which come from not being ready to inherit the throne- he's unforgiveable?

Do yall actually think Elhokar is irredeemable because he let Moash's grandparents die?? If so then yall should really take a good long look at Dalinar's arc and compare it to where Elhokar is when he's swearing the First Ideal, because Dalinar at his lowest on the whole was far worse than Elhokar ever was

izzy was in a way the reason the revenge didn't have a unicorn. he was the reason for everything that went wrong originally.

he was the one that got the british to ambush the revenge, to capture stede and ed.

he was the one directly responsible for the unicorn being blown up. for karl dying.

he was the one that pushed ed to become kraken. for him to abandon the crew.

and yet he cared for the crew. he took the worst of it. lead them out of the storm.

he cared for them so much that they have forgiven him. made him their unicorn.

This is going to be an unpopular take, surely, but the Four Swords characters (particularly Red, Blue and Green) aren't really that nuanced or deep. They're all based on stereotypical character tropes and given the length of the manga, the Himekawas didn't really have time to let them go beyond those tropes. I don't know if the Himekawas even wanted to delve much further into their characters, regardless.

And like?? That's ok?? There is absolutely nothing wrong with acknowledging a character has not reached their full potential within the source media. There's absolutely nothing wrong with adding your own interpretations and headcanons to that character to give them depth. Stereotypes (unless harmful) do not make a character inherently bad or less worthy of being enjoyed.

But I'm also sick of the genre of FS posts where it's like "Red/Blue/Green actually has so much depth and other fans are just fucking stupid." My brother in christ you have projected your headcanons on to this character and expect us to see exactly what you see even though it's not present within the manga itself.

i went to a uscpr webinar where rashida tlaib was a speaker. here are some things i came back with

it is more effective to spend time pressuring elected officials who will be running again in the next election cycle, as your vote holds more sway over them. don't stop contacting people who this doesn't apply to altogether, but know what to prioritize

tlaib says that zionist orgs and groups are also calling in, in a very organized way, to the point where when there's any legislation regarding palestine about to be put up to vote, the ratio of calls will often not be in our favor. part of the point of calling in, getting others to call in, doing so frequently, doing so in groups, etc, is to combat this pressure

many of tlaib's coworkers who are not already fighting for a ceasefire or a free palestine are surprised by how long the public outcry has been going on in the us. some of them believe or suspect that tlaib is somehow in control of the sustained response and have asked her about it

they are aware that the public outcry is not coming solely from palestinian and arab constituents. they are seeing people of different ethnicities and backgrounds physically come in

they believe we will forget about palestine by summer

if calling your reps is part of what you're doing for palestine, continue doing so and prove them wrong. if you haven't called your reps, do so. leverage the preliminary icj ruling to get your reps to (at minimum) implement sanctions and call for a ceasefire

consider joining a daily call group on whatsapp by searching for your state in this document, which was put together by celebrate mercy

or volunteering for a phonebank (under the rsvp section) with the nyc dsa where you'll call people and ask them to contact their reps about a ceasefire. this will be over zoom every tuesday, and you'll be provided with numbers and a script. there's no obligation to join every time, it's an open invite, and they will usually explain what's happening before you get started
