Further along in the Ice Planet Barbarians’ universe and have to say: Lilah and Rokan, Kira and Aehako, Georgie and Vektal are still the worse of the group. I know Lilah and Rokan as well as Kira and Aehako have massive followings but damn- they have the least amount of chemistry of all the couples so far.

It was like reading the back of a cake box that only uses water to spice it up…

I loved Bek and Elly. (The Barbarian’s Redemption) That story was so well written and broke my heart more than once. Elly was such a brilliant character and how she showed Bek what it was like being a slave? Just really hit hard.

Kate and Harrec (The Barbarian’s Lady)- Kate was so sweet and I loved how she found a kindred spirit in Liz (who, let’s face it, is one of my favorite characters). Harrec has always been one of my favorite aliens. I found him adorable in Stacy and Pashov’s book and was really looking forward to his- it didn’t disappoint. His dislike of seeing his own blood and how Kate helped him overcome it made me grin. And I can’t forget the cute little baby snowcat they adopted- my cat loving heart burst at that. I hope we see more of Mr Fluffypuff as the series goes on.

Summer and Warrec (Barbarians Rescue)- well it was fine. Summer started out as really entertaining with her verbal vomit, but toward the mid-point of the book… I was over her. Warrec seemed so much more put together than her and it felt a little forced toward the end. I think they are cute together- but do I think they are one of the best couples… no. I think I rated this book a 3/5 stars because it was decent- just not my favorite.

Lauren and K’thar (Lauren’s Barbarian)- again they were okay. Lauren started to grate on my nerves and the whole- “it’s the end of the world so let’s have repeated sex” trope was played out in this book. I will say Lauren is intelligent and K’thar is sweet. I liked them but I don’t think they rank in my top 15 or even close to it. They were merely alright.

Veronica and Ashtar (Veronica’s Dragon)- I loved this book. I loved how adorably clumsy Veronica was and how fierce Ashtar was. I loved how he knew right away she was meant for him. I loved the friendship with the other aliens he gained at the end. I loved the sweet heat that was between him and Veronica. It was good! Really good! They definitely entered my top ten couples for this universe.

Just started Willa’s Beast… can’t wait to see how I like it. I’ve seen many mixed reviews on it..

For my first art post I want to introduce you all to Bek Alder, my D&D character in a Star Wars themed campaign.

She is a neutral good engineer who has lived most of her life on Coruscant. After a lot of... unexpected twists in her life, she recently decided to work for Saw Gerrera with her lovely wife, Ellie, a droid made (mostly) by Bek herself.

This is a concept for her outfit that has yet to be finalized, but I like the direction it is going. I am also very attached to the idea of her being a baggy cargo pants lesbian (although her idea of cargo pants is attaching all of the pouches yourself).

1. Leonard McCoy from Star Trek: The Original Series

I love his gruff exterior coupled with how much he cares really deeply. He's passionate and full of fire, but he's also so compassionate and caring. He's a healer, but instead of embodying the "saint-like" version of that trope, he's all too human and flawed. I adore him.

2. Joan Watson and Sherlock Holmes from Elementary

Yes, I am cheating, but they are sold as a set do not separate 🤷

I just love both of them. I love the way they interact, and their partnership in every sense of the word. They're funky and unapologetic about it, and they can be sharp and vindictive, but they can also be so, so soft and caring, both to each other and to others.

3. Jaime Lannister from Game of Thrones

He's slick and snarky and talented. He's in a nasty codependent romance with his sister. He's incredibly insecure yet incredibly cocky. He's so so brave and stupid. He's in love with Brienne and shows it by giving her a sword. He's a hot mess. Just a complete disaster of a human. I love it. I want to study him in a jar.

4. Sam from Lord of the Rings

He's a cinnamon roll, does this need more explanation? 🤷

5. Leslie Knope from Parks and Rec

She never, ever gives up, and she believes so hard in making the world a better place, and she loves her friends so much, and.... She's just inspiring. She's a character who gives me energy and makes me feel like things can get better and good people can make a difference.

6. Bilbo Baggins from The Hobbit

My boy 🥹 He is fierce and loyal and cunning, and he's got a temper and can somehow get away with scolding people twice his size. The bitch energy is at epic levels, and yet he's also somehow so caring. He is an icon, a legend. We can only aspire to such sass and love as is packed in this tiny man.

7. Basil from The Great Mouse Detective

He's ridiculously cute and smart. I love how he pretty much adopted Dawson as His within like 5 seconds of meeting him. He's also a secret softie, getting all testy with Olivia only to pretty much immediately cave when she starts crying. Plus he's Sherlock Holmes as a mouse. Only wins here.

8. Richard from Galavant

He's a pathetic noodle of a man who's committed horrible atrocities by his own admission, yet he still manages to make you want to give him a hug. What a disaster man. I adore him.

9. Alan Grant from Jurassic Park/World

He's got a PhD but can't figure out a seat belt. He's clearly madly in love with Ellie but takes like 30 years to admit that he'd rather have her than his career. Yet again, a complete disaster. Are you sensing a pattern?

10. Bek from Gods of Egypt

Yes, I know this movie has problems, first and foremost the whitewashing, but I can't help it 🙈 Bek in particular is just 👌 He's so determined and spunky. He says cheesy one-liners to himself while stealing from literal gods. He's blasphemous to the gods' faces. The love of his life is killed and his immediate response is to blackmail a god into bringing her back to life. He's lucky and brash. I love him.

By nature Bek was not someome prone to prying. Everybody's business was their own business, and if they wanted to clue her in they'd do it. Plain and simple.

So why couldn't she get the night of the auction off of her brain? Or, more specifically, Ellie's attendance and the whopping five grand win she claimed. It'd completely caught her off guard. Not just because that was a stupid amount of money to spend on a single date, but because it'd been spent on Ryan Parrish.

Someone who openly admitted to (insanity) hating the king gummy snack of all gummy snacks, aka Swedish Fish. It didn't make any sense.

"So how do you know Ryan?"

They were meant to be discussing more plans for the upcoming gala over a late lunch but the far too personal question blurted free before she could catch it. With a wince, Bek muttered, "Sorry. I just— I saw you at the auction last month."

And if there's one word she would've used to describe Ellie's side of the all out war that transpired, it'd be determined.

Ellie is played by our DM and is an absolute tank in a fight (although her character sheet is largely a mystery to most of the party). She, according to the backstory that Bek tells the rest of the party, was constructed partially out of old Imperial droid parts to create a sort of personal bodyguard.
