Author's note: Hi there! This chapter doesn't contain mature scenes between the three of them. As some may have noticed, I'm not the most comfortable or confident with smut in my works. I probably have only one or two that contain scenes, but I usually allude to it and let your imagination do the rest :)

If you'd be interested in a bonus chapter, I'd focus on writing a more detailed scene between them, but all in all, I like the way it is right now.

Sometimes, accepting the fact that your life has become more than strange has been a bit difficult for you.

Watching as Seonghwa's eyes turned to their unnatural scorching red whenever he was particularly emotional made you freeze for a second. Or when Hongjoong used his vampire speed to catch things falling from your clumsy hands. The most difficult thing you had to get used to was their need for blood.

Once, you found their stash of human blood bags, and you had to distance yourself for a day to process all of that. The men knew you were still adjusting, and you reassured them it had to be like that for a while.

After all, how many times have you had two supernatural boyfriends? None, if you had to answer.

However, their nature didn't change the fact that you loved them dearly. It was almost unexplainable at this point.

Now, whenever you go to the library, Seonghwa unleashes his knowledge of history without trying to hide the fact that he was present when certain events were happening. Hongjoong proudly points at artifacts in museums, giving you an inside scoop of the true stories unfolding behind each object. You felt like you were in on many secrets of the world, and they loved making you happy.

As for your best friend and his supernatural boyfriend, your relationship was blossoming even more without any secrets. Wooyoung even showed you a couple of harmless spells - turning Yeosang's coffee into mud, making butterflies appear in your room, or the time when he transformed Yeosang's outfit into a fairy costume. You've never laughed so loud in your life.

All in all, your life became easier as time went on. You wouldn't say you had any obstacles left with your men, except for the part where they cowered away as soon as things got heated in the bedroom.

Well, you haven't made it that far yet, because every time you find yourself between them with their hands roaming around your body, they stop as soon as you get yourself worked up.

It's gotten annoying after a month of trying, and you've finally reached your breaking point while squished between them on the couch. You'd just finished the amazing dinner Seonghwa prepared, for you only. They finally came clean about human food, saying it tasted like dirt for them, but they ate in front of you so as not to make you suspicious.

Seonghwa's hand was pushing up your shirt while his lips painted purple hues over your collar bones and neck. Hongjoong's lips were dancing with yours, his slim fingers tracing patterns on your bare tights.

You'd choose your outfit for tonight carefully, pairing a black skirt with a fluffy jumper. It was all topped up with your new black lingerie, carefully chosen to please both of them.

Just as you were about to lift your jumper over your head, they stopped and detached themselves from you. You've just about had it with them.

"Okay, I'm done."

Seonghwa's eyes widened, watching as you stood up and started pacing around the living room.

"Doll? What's wrong?" Hongjoong asked, standing up to come closer to you. You quickly pointed a finger at him, making him stop in his tracks.

"Don't! Please, just stay there."

Seonghwa was now up, standing beside his husband. It clicked for you suddenly, and you laughed.

"Is that it? Are you really not even the slightest bit interested in me? Am I... Am I not attractive to you? You should have told me befo-"

"Darling, stop for a second. Breathe, please." Seonghwa pleaded, not sure if he should approach you after you rejected Hongjoong.

"How can I? We've been together for almost four months now, and you still won't touch me even when I'm basically offering myself to you! Do you know how humiliating that is?"

You watched as they shared a look, having a silent conversation between themselves. Hongjoong nodded, carefully going around the coffee table.

"Y/N, baby doll, it's not like that at all. We can't believe you'd ever think we weren't attracted to you. We... We burn for you, baby. You can't imagine how much."

"Then why? Give me a good enough reason, because I'm clueless at this point." Tears were brimming your eyes, too overstimulated by the situation.

"We're afraid, darling." Seonghwa finally said.

It made you stop in your tracks, looking at him in confusion.

"Afraid?"

He nodded, already on his way over to you.

"Terrified, actually. You see... Vampires are vicious creatures by nature. We're not exactly gentle in the bedroom, and we can handle it between us. Hongjoong and I are the same, we don't get hurt if we grip each other tighter or rough each other up. But, we're terrified of harming you in any way."

"It would destroy us, baby. We never want to cause you any harm, even if that means keeping our desires at bay. And believe us..." Hongjoong was now in front of you, placing his hand on your cheek to wipe away a stubborn tear that escaped. He leaned closer to your ear to whisper his next words.

"It's been absolutely torturous trying not to fuck you into our bed every single night."

Your breath got caught in your throat, never having heard him speak such dirty words to you. You'd be lying if you said it didn't make your tights clench.

His gaze dropped downstairs, watching as you struggled to stand still, and he only smirked.

That's when you felt another presence behind you, caressing your arms before leaning down to whisper into your other ear.

"You'd like that, wouldn't you? Let's be honest, you crave that as much as we do." Seonghwa's breath was warm, his lips already back to placing kisses on your neck.

You found it in you to speak again after gathering your wits.

"Why... Why don't you do it, hmm? I'm all ready for you..."

Hongjoong looked into your eyes, trying to find any crumble of doubt or fear, but he only saw raw passion.

Desire.

The flames burning between the three of you only got hotter.

"Seonghwa... My star, what do you think? Is it finally time to worship our princess?"

"Absolutely."

The confirmation from his husband was enough for Hongjoong to lift you into his arms and use vampire speed to get you to their bedroom. Seonghwa was right behind you, closing the door behind him and dimming the lights.

"Y/N, darling, we need to be absolutely sure you want this. We'll be gentle, we promise. You can stop us at any time, just say the words and we'll be on the other end of the room. You're important to us, okay? Your safety is our priority."

You nodded at Seonghwa, letting Hongjoong place you onto the king sized bed. Your skirt was barely covering you at this point, and both men were drawn to the exposed skin of your legs.

Hongjoong was the first to approach you, taking his place on the left, while his husband took your right. Their hands went to one thigh each, slowly going up until they reached the edge of your skirt.

"Can we touch you, baby? Hmm? Can we finally have you to ourselves?"

You turned your head to look at Hongjoong before doing the same with Seonghwa.

"Please, take me. Make me yours."

"How is my baby feeling?"

You opened one eye to look at a smiling Hongjoong who pulled you closer to his chest. You didn't have the energy to open both of them, choosing to snuggle further into his smooth pecks.

"My love, she's too out of it to answer. We've done a good job, don't you think?"

Hongjoong looked at his husband, the grin on his face a mirror of his own. Seonghwa was pressed up to your back, running his fingers through your tangled locks.

"I must say... We've outdone ourselves, my star. Look at her, isn't she precious?"

"Stop talking about me as if I'm not there."

Seonghwa laughed, placing a kiss on your temple.

"Oh, so she speaks! Aren't you a little smart mouth?"

"I fear you won't be hearing anything smart from me tonight, my head is pretty empty."

You wanted to adjust yourself a bit, but you winced slightly when you wiggled around. Both men were on high alert immediately, looking over your body.

"What's wrong? Are you hurt? We hurt her! Hongjoong, let's grab the medic kit, there must be som-"

"Hey, hey, calm down Hwa. I'm just... Everything's okay."

You turned around to face the frantic man, placing your hands on his cheeks and making him look into your eyes.

"I'm okay. See? I'm still in one piece and I'm feeling incredible."

He sighed, pressing his forehead to yours.

"Are you sure? We know we can be rough sometimes, we really tried to be as gentle as possible."

"Your back is bruised."

Both you and Seonghwa looked at Hongjoong, but his eyes were focused on your lower back.

"See, we hurt you. There, those were probably my fingers. Now you're bruised."

You could tell Seonghwa was getting worked up again, and Hongjoong's blank stare made you worry as well.

Without another word, you laid on your back and opened your arms for them. They snuggled themselves into your embrace, connecting their hands on top of your stomach.

"Listen, and please don't interrupt me. I'm fine. I'm perfect, actually. I made sure to tell you every time I wanted you to slow down, or change anything. You listened every time. You made this night perfect. Our first night together. Don't take that away from me."

You glanced at them, thankful that their expressions softened.

"Bruises happen when people have sex, it's normal. I even find them sexy, if you ask me. So, please, don't make a big deal out of it. Let this be our perfect night. We can practise every day, now that we've had our first time."

Seonghwa grinned, squeezing Hongjoong's hand.

"You hear that? She wants us every day. Who are we to refuse such an amazing offer?"

That finally put a hint of a smile on Hongjoong's face, and you placed a gentle kiss on his forehead.

"What do you say, Joong? Will you grant me my wish?"

He looked at Seonghwa before gazing into your eyes.

"I'll grant you a thousand wishes if that makes you happy, my doll."

Hey bby! What placements indicate someone becoming a librarian or an archivist? I feel like I never see this specific question being mentioned so I’m really curious!!

Strong mercury in the 1h, 8h, 3h, or 9h. Saturn 1h as well. Also, positive aspects to the 2h, 7h, 11h can show a native handling finances well, and gaining income, and of course mercury must be supported through its aspects.

Virgo mercury- underestimated intelligence, and the hoarders of knowledge. Often times these signs find themselves obsessing over factual information, preferring logic at times over emotion. Philosophy, stoicism. they do great at law, psychology, music, poetry/book writing, politics, and don't mind spending time alone to hunt for information. Even more amplified if Mercurys ruler lands in the 8h/12h, or mercury falls in the 8h/12h.

Someone with a debilitated mercury can also be underestimated, Although it takes them longer to process and understand information, study, and such, their pace can allow them to be incredibly cautious and careful with their wording and perspective in matters. I can also understand someone having a debilitated mercury (mercury= nervous system) going inward to research about health across all contexts, and thus finding themselves in a library: online or physical. These mercury natives need to understand their bodily systems function, and going inward is what helps them best. I would also imagine they'd like to be alone lol. Debilitated mercury can suggest issues with handling finances though, but I'd check 2h and 11h, 7h, and aspects.

Mercury-pluto encompassing all aspects makes for a challenged, and ever changing person. The negative the aspect (square especially) can trigger growth and a deep need for a change in perception of the world and humanity. They can be incredibly adept at handling deep information, but experience ups and downs and deep fears of knowing too much at once. Can knowing more help, or hurt? When does ignorance become bliss? When does it become ego?

Well placed 3rd house (meaning, ruler is well placed, aspects are beneficial) can help tremendously with someone's mind. Like, venus 3rd house can mean someone who approaches things from an emotionally intelligent stand point, especially if Venus is supported through aspects and rulership. They can be diplomatic in nature too. I also feel they can be an archivist from a sentimental standpoint, think of it like preserving history, and also, a librarian drawn to aesthetic and the comfiness of libraries. Being knowledgeable and well aware feels comforting to them, rather than to be in the dark.

But, I will like to bring in a controversial aspect: Saturn 3h. While seen as detrimental and it can be, meaning slower to learn and harder to grasp concepts, once these natives understand their language of learning they truly can succeed. And they do it with a sense of dedication. They can prefer to delve into darker topics that are considered taboo especially. They can trace history from all its dark periods and times up to the modern world, how its still present just subtle.

I think also Libra Venus/ mars 3h/9h can be drawn to aesthetics of studying, that may be their motivation. Like being in libraries, cafe's, think having their laptops out or books lol. Having a put together visual is what drives them.

Gemini placements can also represent being a librarian, an affinity for cozy spaces, and also if their mercury is well placed they'll do well with the accounting side too.

And hear me out: Capricorn. I just feel as though Capricorn is the gateway to knowledge, something about Capricorns being a threshold to knowledge, especially deeper and taboo topics. I also feel as though Capricorns have a special relationship with time itself, either wanting to preserve it, bury timelines, or jump. They can do well up keeping and archiving information, due to Saturns steady influence. But I'd check for mercury's position as well to see how their mental processing is.

Aquarius and gemini, virgo, Capricorn, can make for someone with a social online presence who shares information with others. Like a talking library, they're excellent at conveying knowledge if their placements are well supported. I see Aquarius and Gemini having a quirky online presence, Capricorn can feel more structured and put together with their information :)

Surprisingly, Leo with cancerian placements can be a librarian too. Both signs are about relating to others, giving and receiving. This duality is compelling. In a more spiritual standpoint, I've seen natives with this enter akashic records, and not just convey their experience but turn it into a lesson for others to learn from in a way. He hates the loudness if it and hates how it moves, he likes washing clothes the old-fashioned way because he likes the process

He doesnt like cutting his lawn for many reasons

1. Dandelions have medicinal properties

2. The amount of animals that roam in his property is very large and he doesn't want to hurt them in the process

3. He likes how nature makes itself known and likes when the vines, “weeds” ( they aren't weeds and I'll die on it), and natural flowers climb his manner and pathways. He's not lazy



He doesn't like grocery stores, they terrify him to no ends so he just grows everything he needs and gets meats he needs from a butch or just gets it himself

He has a bunch of compost bins around for ants, bees, and soil purpose ( fun fact: when apples rot they furment and bees get drunknok the sugar :>)

👨‍👧Small Parent Headcanons👨‍👦

Not really full family headcanons, more so what kind of dad they are. And bear with me a bit, babes, because I haven’t gone through all of the routes yet, and if we’re gonna get specific I’m on my third route.

Basically, I haven’t gotten to know each of the suitors fully save for two, who routes I’ve already completed, so please forgive me if some of the characters are a little OOC!

Napoleon Bonaparte

Both a girl and boy dad

He most likely would have two sons and one daughter, who’d be the youngest

Very supportive dad, wants his kids to be happy and enjoy what they end up doing in life

Would teach his children the value of things and to appreciate what they have, but also encourage them to be ambitious with their dreams and try to reach for the stars when they really find something they’re interested in

(Remember that this man was one of the oldest out of eight children, so he knows how to handle kiddies)

He’d teach all of his children basic swordsmanship and self defense with Jean, especially his daughter

Definitely a bit overprotective of all of his children

Always glares at any partner that is brought home and makes it clear that any mistreatment from either his child or their partner would not be tolerated in the slightest

After that and if he gets along with his child’s partner, he’s definitely the favorite in law

His title is literally “The Charismatic Leader* in the game

And his children have most likely inherited at least a little of his unintentionally charming and charismatic aura

Overall, very supportive and loving father who is firm when he needs to be and tries his best to communicate with his children

He’d just have two, one boy and one girl that are most likely twins

Struggles a bit when it comes to bonding with anything outside of music and struggles a bit with feelings

I feel like he’d find it easier to talk with his son a bit more when it comes to emotions because girls tend to have more complex emotions and mature much faster then boys

But, most of his struggles would come early and they’d be over by the time the twins are a little older, and then new struggles show up with them maturing and then the process starts again

Glares at any significant others that are brought home and threatens them to make sure they have good intentions with his child

Doesn’t really warm up to any significant others until the engagement/marriage stage

But he’ll be happy as long as his children are happy

Really he’s a stern dad who just needs a bit of help to show his children how much he really loves them

He tries his best, but he occasionally needs a little push in the right direction

He just can’t really articulate how much he loves his children with anything other than music

My big sleepy cat man is definitely a girl dad

Would probably have three daughters and they’re all either triplets or they’re each a year or two apart

And they’re all most definitely Purebloods

And fatherhood is definitely one of the very few things the great Renaissance Man has never experienced

Yes, he’s been around children, but he’s never raised any of his own

But he takes to it pretty naturally after holding his first daughter

He’s put in charge of teaching his daughters everything along with the occasional guest appearance of Isaac

And if they want to learn something that Leonardo surprisingly doesn’t know, like a specific language or obscure subject, he’ll sit down with them surrounded by books and begin researching before looking up at the clock and realizing that it’s time for dinner when they could’ve sworn it was just after breakfast five minutes ago

Many days have gone by quickly with the four of them buried in books in the library trying to learn something new

Leonardo also naps with his little girls, especially when they’re babies

He mostly sticks to the bed though so that they won’t fall or get hurt

He only starts napping in his usual random places like the floor or under the dining room table or in le Comte’s shed in the garden when they’re a bit older and able to move around more safely

And Leonardo is a pretty chill dad, lets his girls have independence and do what they want so long as they’re safe and it’s within reason

Wants them to find love and be happy, not just have children and marry just to produce more Pureblood Vampires

He knows when to be stern, when to be lax, when to have fun, and when to be serious with his girls

Overall, great papa who will be an amazing teacher to his girls, but he’ll probably end up dragging them into some situations that they somehow don’t get arrested in

Arthur Canon Doyle

This lovely man is a boy and girl dad

Three children, two girls with one boy in the middle, all three being happy accident babies

He was terrified inside due to his past traumas coming back to haunt him, so many nights were spent with his wife reassuring him

Definitely freaked out when his first child came, but after yelling from his wife and a couple backhanded slaps from Theo for him to get his shit together, doctor mode was activated

And when his daughter was born he instantly fell in love with her and now over protective daddy mode was forever activated

He tried to not get too sucked into his writing as he can do so he can spend time with his children and help take care of them

Teaches them to spot the little details in things but gets mad when they point out his subtle innuendos and lack of sleep and excessive coffee intake

Arthur’s wit and flirtatious energy will most likely rub off on at least one of his children and he’ll be mortified when one of them brings home their significant other because it hits him then that his babies are growing up

He cries to his wife later that night about it because he doesn’t want to let go of his babies that used to fit so snugly in his arms

But once that grief passes, Arthur has the time of his life relaying embarrassing stories and the like to his new son/daughter-in-law while his child sits there mortified and screaming at him to stop while his wife is calmly trying to get him to shut his big mouth

“They may be a charmer, but they also used to wear their spare nappies as a hat when they were starting to walk!” / “OH MY GOD! DAD, JUST STFU!” / “Arthur, that’s enough. Our child is about to pass out from how red their face is…”

Yeah, he went on for another hour before his wife had to catch a book their child threw at him and then he stopped

He is supportive of his children and encourages them to be ambitious, but also within reason with what they want

And he stresses the importance of having your name be known along with your work as many people didn’t know who he was and thought his famous character Sherlock Holmes was a real person and he got letters addressed to Holmes

Overall, Arthur is a loving and supportive father who’s incredibly witty and playful with his children when appropriate

Vincent van Gogh

Our sweet sunshine angel is a girl and boy dad

His daughter is probably older than his son by four or five years

Gentle daddy, he can’t get mad at his babies for anything so most sternness comes from his wife

But Vincent isn’t a complete pushover, he will make sure his children know when they’ve done something wrong and give them a talk after their timeout or whatever punishment has been administered about what they did and if they know why it was wrong of them to do that

But, let’s face it, his children are most definitely innocent angels just like him

Vincent will let his children watch him paint or sketch and encourage them to try new things when it comes to art or anything at all

He will also teach them how to defend themselves, with a little help from Napoleon and Jean, since his secret in game is literally that he can destroy anyone in a fight, including Theo

Vincent loves spending time with his wife and children, but he sometimes gets so wrapped up in his paintings that he forgets to take time away from his work to take care of himself and his family

But just one mutter from one of his children quickly pulls him away from his painting and towards some nice family time

In short, Vincent is a very gentle, loving, and affectionate father who loves his children very much and tries his hardest to pull himself out of painting so he can spend a good amount of time with them

Theodorus van Gogh

Another girl and boy dad!

Probably two daughters and a son who’s the youngest

Definitely starts to take a bit more time off from work to spend time with his family when his first child is born

Yeah, the guy is a fucking workaholic, but he loves his family more than anything!

He’ll try to at least spend one hour playing with his children every day he’s off from work as often as he can, but sometimes he needs those off days to sleep

His wife and children definitely try their best to make sure that he’s sleeping and eating and taking care of himself, but he always fears the moment when they’ve had enough and go tell on him to Uncle Vincent, thus ending in Theo looking down at the ground as his brother lectures him about self care

Theo will take his children to work with him on relatively calm days so he can teach them about hard work and the art world at the same time, but he’ll also encourage them to look into things other than art

He’ll also take his children into town with him when it’s time to walk King and they all end up going to the park and playing

He definitely asks Vincent, Jean, and Napoleon to teach his children self defense because he’s usually pretty busy, but he’ll help teach them when he has the time for it

And Theo is the dad who sneaks up at night with his kids to quietly sneak something sweet if the craving strikes and it’s hilarious to see this big intimidating man freeze in place along with his three kids as they’re caught by his wife who is just looking at Theo with an unamused look and waiting for him to come up with an excuse she won’t believe anyway

And that happens at least once a week

Theo also knows how to be firm with his children when needed, but sometimes he gets a little too scary when they mess up big time

(Theo actually made each of his children wet themselves out of fear, due to him being scary while scolding them, once when they all got into big trouble and he felt awful for a month afterwards)

Theo doesn’t like having his children be afraid of him, so on the rare occasion when he scares them too bad, he won’t talk to them for about a week and try to not glance at them because he feels so awful that they’re scared of him

But a quick hug makes that go away real quick

Overall, Theo is a very loving and diligent father who knows how to be firm when he needs to be and who needs to learn how to take care of himself before his children tell on him to Uncle Vincent or plant Lumière in his room for him to find as punishment

Osamu Dazai

My window mans is definitely a girl dad

He’d have just one daughter and she’d be his princess

And she’d end up being a bit of a menace to society because, hello, Dazai is her father

He’d want her to be very happy and do things she likes, but he’d also want her to know when to act appropriately

Sort of ironic since he uses windows more than doors and teases Isaac much like an older brother would his siblings

Dazai would definitely write short stories for his daughter and they’d become her favorite bedtime stories, probably because they were catered and written specifically for her

Dazai would definitely love having fun with his daughter and making her laugh and smile, but he’d also enjoy the quiet and serene moments where he can relax and let his clown façade drop and show what he’s really feeling around his baby girl

His daughter would definitely make him mellow out a bit more in terms of teasing because he doesn’t want her to end up teasing everyone she meets and being perceived as mean by both adults and other children

Dazai would also try and gently push his daughter to try new things and hobbies, he’d just want her to have options when it comes to what she’d like to do in life

He’d like her to find just the right thing for her to do and enjoy and he’d support her through anything she’d eventually choose

Overall, Dazai is a very fun and silly dad who occasionally drops his goofy mask to show how much he really loves his baby girl in private

Isaac Newton

I feel like he’s a girl and boy dad

One daughter, one son, they’re probably twins or a year apart

Isaac spent most of his life as a human alone and, while he teaches with Napoleon sometimes, he’s not the most experienced with children

He does try to learn as much as possible about babies and children while his wife is pregnant, but he feels woefully unprepared when his children are born and panics a bit

But he’s somehow a natural once one of them is placed in his arms???

Like it just clicks for him somehow?

He knows what to do when they cry, need to be fed when his wife isn’t there, when they need to be changed, etc.

Isaac will start teaching his children at a very young age out of pure habit

“Now, with all of the prior information in mind, how would you most quickly and efficiently solve this equation?”

“Isaac, honey, our children just learned how to sit up by themselves, they’re too young for calculus…”

And he’ll stop trying to teach them subjects that are far beyond the small mind of a six month old infant

For like a week and then he’s back to his habits

“Now for the conjugation of the following verbs.”

“Isaac, they haven’t even said their first words, they’re way too young to start learning Latin…”

But both his son and daughter speak English, French, and Latin fluently by the age of three, so-

Isaac will try to not get so sucked into his work that he forgets to spend time with his children, he doesn’t want them to view him as a distant father who doesn’t care about them

He will allow them to tag along to his job at the local university to watch him teach when they’re old enough (which is around age five since they’re both so quiet and polite)

He’ll definitely try to step in when Dazai or Arthur tease his children a little, it usually turns into Isaac getting teased, but it’s the thought that counts

He’ll spend time with his children when he takes breaks, often not understanding their imaginative games and make believe they play with their toys, but he’d be very good at doing puzzles with them and building things out of wooden blocks

Isaac has definitely had to scoop Harry up a good few times so his children wouldn’t accidentally get pricked by him

But it’s bound to happen since they’re his children, thus making them curious by nature

Basically, Isaac is a very shy father who panics a bit at first, but he gets better as time goes on

Jean d’Arc

Insecure babie boy is a girl dad

He’s have two incredibly beautiful twin daughters and be a panicked wreck about it

Jean is incredibly insecure and nervous in the beginning

He viewed himself as a disgusting, dirty, unholy monster who hardly even deserved the time his wife gave him during the day and now he passed down his tainted blood to two innocent little ones who didn’t even have a say in the matter?

Yeah, he was nervous for the entirety of his wife’s pregnancy and didn’t even feel he deserved to look at his daughters, but he completely fell in love when both of them were gently placed in his arms the day they were born

His daughters would from them on be his pride and joy and the only two people he loved as much as his wife

Jean, with Napoleon’s help, would teach his girls the basics of sword fighting at the very least so that they could protect themselves and teach them about honor and morals

Of course he never wanted to have as much self loathing as he once did and he could never imagine his daughters going through those same awful feelings, so he’d remind both of them daily that he loves them and that they’re the purist, most lovely girls in the world

He’d enjoy putting his girls to bed because it meant spending time with them and reminding them of his love right before they go to sleep

Both girls get a kiss on the head and a music box will be playing as Jean reads a book for them if he’s putting the girls to bed alone or he’ll be listening along with the girls as his wife sings if she’s there with them

He’d also enjoy playing with both of his girls, and he actually spends at least an hour a day playing with them and their stuffed animals and dolls no matter how morbid things get with their small child imaginations

Affection would be a bit awkward and stiff at first, but he’d get used to it with time

Pretty much, Jean will start out insecure and panicked but will slowly become more confident in his ability to be a father and enjoy every second of raising his girls

William Shakespeare

I see Will as having just one child, a son

He definitely wouldn’t know how to handle himself or the situation when he is told by his wife that she is pregnant

Definitely goes quiet for a bit before he breaks down a little and needs some reassuring from his wife

His confidence in himself gets a bit better once his son is born

Will definitely leaves most of the early childcare in the hands of his wife and requires her to be by his side whenever he is the one caring for their son

But he definitely gets better once his son starts getting to toddler and child age

He’ll take his son on walks when he’s old enough and regale him lines from some of his plays, altering the endings to make them a little happier because he doesn’t want to see his son sad

It becomes a tradition for Will and his son to sit on the living room sofa and quietly wait for his wife to return home whenever she goes out because they both love her very much

Eventually, Will takes inspiration from his son to write stories, mostly short bedtime stories for him to tell when it’s time to go to sleep

Days out in town are always fun, since Will usually uses them as family time with his wife and son

They’ll go to shops looking at things, buying the occasional small item for their son if he’s been good, and ending by going to the park and watching their son play with other children from afar

Will never thought he’d enjoy being a father as much as he did with his new life, but here he was

He’d definitely get his son a rabbit of his own if he wanted one after playing with Puck a lot

If his son ever did anything bad or broke something, Will would probably leave the scolding to his wife most likely because he would end up scaring his son a bit and Will would never want that to happen

After his son would be sent to a time out, Will would come in and give him a brief but stern talk and tell him what his punishment was

Will wouldn’t like punishing his son very much, but every child needs discipline to learn that there are consequences for their actions

I feel that family game night would be a thing

A few simple card games and some games of chess and checkers in the living room at least one night a week

Spoiler, Will’s wife hasn’t one a single game against the boys and they’re tied for who has the most wins

In short, Will is a loving father who needs a bit of help in the beginning, but becomes a natural after some time

He still hates punishing his son, tho-

Either two sets of twins or quadruplets with two girls and two boys, and they’re all definitely Purebloods

He will spoil tf out of them, but he will be stopped by his wife because they can’t have everything in life

Comte will keep nobility away from his family, he doesn’t want them getting involved with all of that until they’re old enough

He’ll try to spend as much time as he can with them, but sometimes he has to be away for a while and can’t avoid it

But he does play with his children and he’ll play whatever they’d like, be it games or with toys or making something together

He’s already the mom dad of the mansion, so he knows how to discipline his children when needed

And if his stare makes grown men freeze and look down at the ground in shame, you bet your ass that it makes his children hang their heads in shame when they’re being lectured on their bad behavior

But, he isn’t unfair, Comte will tell his children to go to their room and think about what they’ve done before he talks with them again and gives them their real punishment

Back to fun stuff, though!

Trips to town are fun, especially with the whole family

Sometimes it’s shopping, sometimes it’s going out to eat, sometimes it’s playing in the park, or sometimes it’s all three!

Comte loves seeing his children’s eyes light up when he says that they can go to their favorite park in town to play with their friends and some of the animals there

In conclusion, Comte was built to be a father because he already is one to his residents, but he’s even better with actual kids of his own

Sebastian/Akihiko Satou

My favorite history fanboy is a girl and boy dad!

He’d have a son and then probably twin girls a couple years later

Or maybe he’d have more kids because I’m pretty sure he’d thrive on the chaos of multiple children because he literally perfectly balances his duties as a butler to those chaotic historical figures he works for perfectly!

Sebastian is a busy guy, so he’ll most likely not have as much time as he’d like with his children

But he’d relax a bit more after Comte says that he should spend some more time with his children

And after some convincing from his wife, he’d let his children follow him around and help a little bit as he does chores around the mansion

All three of his children have Japanese names that are their real names, but they all have aliases they go by to make them fit in more in Paris

Sebastian definitely teaches his children the value of hard work early on, but also reminds them to not be like him and take a break for once

And he hates that his children and Theo’s children are in cahoots to make sure that their dads learn self care and actually sleep and eat sometimes

Sebastian will take his children into town to run errands and also go to the park for a while if they have the time

He’d always make sure his children go to bed at a proper time and do their little things before going to sleep

I see Sebastian as the type of dad to tuck his kids in and tell them stories or sing a lullaby to them in his mother tongue

But, when it comes to stories, they’re mostly about the residents’s human lives and his wife usually comes into the room around midnight to see Sebastian and their children all awake as he goes into great detail about which resident the children wanted to hear about that night

He’ll teach his children how to be gentle and nice with Lotte so that they can play with her in the garden while he tends to the flowers or hangs up the laundry

The children eventually help with sheering Lotte’s wool and learn how to knit and sew and crochet from Sebastian

He’d definitely be good at getting his children to do arts and crafts projects and he’d enjoy making little things with them as well

Overall, Sebastian is a very loving father who knows how to teach his children right and wrong and how to be responsible in a mansion full of chaotic historical figures

Vlad

Strawberry boy is a girl and boy dad

Just one daughter and one son that are twins

And they’re both definitely Purebloods

I feel he’d be a bit nervous because he’s never raised a child before and he didn’t want to mess up

But his anxieties are quickly eased when he sees both of his children open their eyes

They’re so small and innocent, they deserve a world that’s peaceful and free of strife or killing

And it’s his children that motivate him even more to reach his goal of a peaceful world

Vlad will definitely do his best to spend time with his children and help to take care of them, but he’s a bit clueless on childcare and needs a bit of guidance in the beginning

He’ll enjoy watching his children play in the garden and join them when they ask him to

Oftentimes Vlad will ask his children to come next to him as he’s watering his flowers and he’ll start telling them little facts about the ones he’s watering

He’ll even take his children into town when he goes to work as a florist and he’ll set up his little flower cart next to a park so that his children can play if they get bored but still stay within his line of sight

Vlad will usually put together bouquets to put into his children’s rooms so that they can enjoy the flowers no matter the weather or if they’re not feeling well enough to go outside

When his children misbehave, Vlad will remain calm but have this scary aura about him

He will calmly scold his children and tell them to go to their rooms so that he can think about a proper punishment for them

He knows that his children get pretty scared when they’re in trouble, so he does try to cool off a bit before he talks to them again

Vlad doesn’t like scaring his children, but he can’t just not scold them whenever they misbehave

His wife is usually the one to calm him down and she’ll be with him when he talks to their children again

But Vlad is also the parent who will sneak up at night with his children and raid the strawberries in the kitchen

They’re usually caught by Charles and Vlad’s wife at the same time

Charles is exasperated because he just got more strawberries from the market and Vlad’s wife is upset because her husband and children promised that they wouldn’t raid the strawberries again

This event occurring multiple times a week eventually leads to Vlad’s wife planting a few strawberry bushes around the garden so that there’s always at least some strawberries for Vlad and the kids and so they stop raiding the kitchen most nights

Overall, Vlad loves his children very much and wants them to grow up in his peaceful and nonviolent world

Johann Georg Faust

Faust would just have one son, I don’t see him as having more than one child

He has definitely never cared for a child before, so fatherhood is definitely a new thing he has to get used to

He’s not used to being woken up late at night by crying and he’s annoyed about it at first, but he eventually understands that his child is helpless and depends on him and his wife to survive

After that realization, he isn’t as annoyed about being woken up and he even takes the night shift sometimes, but that just makes it even harder for Charles and his wife to wake him up in the morning

He would definitely teach his son about alchemy when he was old enough

Faust would prefer for his son to not go to school outside of the castle, so he’d ask Vlad if tutors could be paid to come to the castle, even though he’d rather not ask the old goat for anything

Even though he’s usually very busy throughout the day, Faust will try to make time to spend with his son

He will occasionally take him into town to go and walk around or to the park to play with other children

And there’s no doubt that his son has gotten into a bit of trouble with Mephie

I mean, it’s a small monkey and a little boy, there’s going to be some trouble and mischief

But if there’s any ruckus while Faust is researching or experimenting, he will put a stop to it and scold his son

Faust is another parent who does scare his child when he’s angry and he doesn’t mean to

He just gets upset and tells his son to go to his room and sit on his bed until he comes and talks with him

It’ll take a little while for Faust to cool down, but when he does he feels a bit bad he was so harsh because his son is a child, he’s bound to cause a bit of mischief and trouble from time to time

Faust will talk with his son, make sure he knows why what he did was wrong, but he’ll also apologize for scaring him and being too harsh

Overall, Faust is a bit of a distant and scary father, but he does love his son and does his best to try and show it

Charles-Henri Sanson

I’VE BEEN REALLY EXCITED FOR THIS ONE!!!

Okay, Charles is 100% a girl dad

PROVE ME WRONG

I see him having one daughter and maybe another one, but they’re both pretty far apart in age like say seven or eight years

Charles was ANXIOUS to say the least when he found out his lovely wife was pregnant

How could he raise a child when the blood of thousands was on his hands and he was literally nicknamed “the God of Death” while he was human?

He hardly felt deserving of his wife’s unconditional love at times, and now he helped to create a child that was now growing inside of his wife that would love him unconditionally as well?

Yeah, he had to be reassured a lot over the nine month period of his wife’s pregnancy

Labor was also a mess in the beginning

Charles was panicking and had to be smacked by Faust for him to get his shit together and to slip into his doctor mindset

Other than that, the birth went smoothly and Charles immediately fell in love with his baby girl the moment she was placed into his arms

After that, he was whipped for his daughter as much as he was whipped for his wife

He’ll definitely try to spend as much time with his baby girl as possible, caring for her with his wife and playing with her

He’ll have to be calmed down a bit while she’s a baby because he does get a bit too excited at times

But, when his daughter is a bit older, Charles will enjoy anything that has to do with spending time with her

He’ll play with her, cook with her, read to her, whatever she wants to do within reason!

He’ll even start taking her into town to go on walks to enjoy the scenery, to go to cafes every once in a while, and to go to the park when she wants to play with other children

Of course, Charles is always included in these games because children love him

He’s not the best at disciplining his daughter, he loves her almost too much to be upset at her

But, he knows that she’ll need to be disciplined by both him and her mother, so while her mother does the first bit of scolding and sends her to her room for a little while, it will be Charles who goes up to his daughter’s room and talks with her to make sure she knows what she did was wrong and why before giving her her actual punishment that he and his wife deemed fit

And Charles loves having a baby girl so much he and his wife decided to have another child who turned out to be a girl!

The previous headcanons also go for his second daughter, he loves her just as much as his first daughter and his wife

When his older daughter gets to the age where she brings a significant other over, Charles has mixed feelings

He’s happy that she’s happy, but he’s sad that she’s growing up and suspicious of this partner and whether or not they’re actually good enough for her

So Charles is friendly and civil, yes, but also has this eerily too happy aura about him that makes him pretty scary

Overall, Charles loves being a father to his baby girls and is very loving and supportive of them!

Finally done with this after a couple months! I will most likely end up doing descriptions of the children and family life I mentioned in this rant and at least physical descriptions of the suitor’s wives/partners because I’m not just sticking to the appearance of the MC in the game. I’m sorry, but her look is just a bit too boring, despite being a playable character that the player is supposed to insert themselves into in a way. I just feel MC stand ins always have the same look and that it wouldn’t hurt to change it up just a tiny bit and make it a little more interesting like a different hair color OTHER than brown! Just saying!

Reset to day 1

I decided to restart my Russian learning process, so I reset Duolingo (only 250xp for Russian) & Pimsleur (half a lesson) to start over after watching this video about how to best learn a new language.

The approach in the video focuses on learning words and sentences in context (and not nonsensical context--looking at you, green owl), and it feels like a more natural, curiosity-driven way to learn and connect with a language, which is exactly what I'm looking forward to.

This space is where I'd like to document my Russian language journey and where I can really immerse myself in not just the process but the culture as well.

While I have a notebook to handwrite notes, I also want to keep a digital record to collect everything so I can easily search, reference, and reflect, even years from now.

Here's what I'll add:

vocab words I want to add to my mental library

sentences with vocab in context so I can repeat, study, and memorize, whether they're from books, videos, movies, or something I've written myself

short journal entries to practice forming sentences, even if they're translated at first before I can write my own sentences from scratch. I'll eventually work up to writing little stories.

progress updates, especially when I'm frustrated or when I'm able to cross a personal milestone

bits of grammar, though I'm learning grammar in context of sentences I come across instead of doing grammar drills.

And it's so I can stay accountable (even though I don't expect anyone to actually read this).

Today, someone in my online coworking community shared with me: У вас все получится (You will succeed) after I said I was studying Russian during the work sprint.

It reminded me of why I'm so obsessed with languages.

For me, learning Russian isn’t just about picking up another language. It’s about connecting the culture and people of that culture. There’s something magical about discovering how another language expresses ideas, and it's like learning to see the world through a completely different perspective (and being able to hold multiple views at the same time), and I think that's beautiful.

For now, I'm sure a lot of this will be in English (or Russian with English translations and explanations in English), but I hope that as I continue to learn, it'll shift to being mostly or exclusively Russian.

I checked all 977 pages and the reference material and additional guides, Dal you scatterbrained little shit! NOT A SINGLE MENTION OF WHAT THIS MEANS. Had to have a foreword about the history of particles, can't be arsed to mention time-slippage. Time slippage happens across any amount of space-time that is being warped by an object that warps or bends space-time itself. This includes black holes, but in Universe-78735-Zala, aka the Prime Ley Path Universe, Ley Paths also do it. Dal explains enough to see why that's important to know but never actually mentions that almost-real-time means that time slippage was at least 99% overcome if any occurred. In other words, they saw 2 minutes worth of footage without going over 2 minutes 3 seconds in terms of human time measurements. Carry on.

This data was incredibly strange and difficult to even fully process on standard equipment, leading to then United Nations of Earth Second Chancellor Harlan Quell to propose a plan to use an improved relay to search for the source of such particulates and additional information. The initial Long Chain Project was signed into Earth policy in Earth year 2352 and would set off almost 450 years of intergalactic discovery in an attempt to do so. Of the many discoveries made by the LCP of 2350, as it came to be known, one which was noteably missing was a source for the mysterious particles. Instead, in 2807, when the LCP took was starting to take almost 30 years to get information from the furthest satellite to Earth, near lightspeed travel became possible with the invention of the Horace-Lader drive and its use of near-perfect reclamation of the photoelectric effect and the underlying continuous yet infinitesimal breaks to space-time involved to power vehicles travelling at approximately 2.88x10^8 m/s, closer than any human would ever achieve prior to joining the IULPS (Intergalactic Union of Ley Path Societies).

This same year, First Chancellor of the United Nations of Earth Malia Varayev championed a new plan that left behind the continuing updates to the Long Chain Project and instead called for a one way manned flight by volunteers towards the newly predicted center of these particles (at this year commonly denoted McTalbot's Particles or Fairy Particles due to the former being responsible for the method of discovery and the latter being what humans thought they resembled). This operation was highly contested and debated for almost a decade until on December 12, 2816 of the Earth calendar The infamous Operation Heaven's Darts was signed into policy and launched. It would launch one of the darkest and most brutal periods in Earth history, so much so that to this day all Earthlings, humans included, hold a month long vigil starting on December 12 every year to commemorate the Month of Peace, the first month of Heaven's Darts in which no genocides, mass murders, forced disasters, or any other large scale death toll or oppression took place for the last month until the year 3030.

I wish I could say that Dal was kidding or exaggerating, but he is actually going easy on the matter. There was a continuous series of horrific disasters and poverty crises forced by corporations who took advantage of Clause 19 in that policy that started almost exactly a month later. They only hit other humans at first. Dal says more, but he is kind to his reader. He doesn't wish you to have to dwell on the darkest portion of human depravity most members of the multiverse have ever seen in order to understand Ley particles. He simply wants to address the elephant in the room lest anyone forgets it. Personally I would go into every detail if I could, but I have actual respect for Bosun Dal Tremor. So... for gorey details see Cataloge No. Chi-JP9393321, I won't write them here. For Dal.

The process began by designating a number of private organizations that were not under direct governance of the UNE as targets for incentives to aid in the search for volunteers under what is now infamously known as Clause 19. This clause left a number of openings that led to private organizations propping up the efficacy of the UNE and the ability to make incredibly powerful actions and decisions with next to no oversight as time went on. Humans, as of 2817, were the only large population sentient species as cohabitant species would not be discovered until the 2900's and engineered species were in their infancy. As such, these organizations used economic, social, political and environmental data to ensure large swaths of human volunteers. Over time the UNE would, far too late, recognize its mistake and begin to further and further curtail harm that could be done to humans in order to receive incentives to generate volunteers. In 2873, the human population began to suffer greatly from the now 56 year process of volunteering to be shot into deep space and never heard from again in a single human lifetime. Human colonies on Mars and the Moon were beginning to finally show promise of true self-sustainability at this time and freight relay to colonies outside the asteroid belt were capable of helping there be a Sol System for humans to live and claim as home rather than just one or two planets and planetoids, however it was determined that it would not be enough to save the human race from extinction in the next few decades without serious action. This led to the UNE, slowly becoming the United Planets and Colonies of Sol behind the organizations' backs at this point, made its firmest action to prevent human harm with the Humanity Welfare Act the same year, a policy designed to stop rampant harmful genocides and environmental disasters in their tracks. Instead, it only directly protected humans and, as engineered species were no longer in their infancy, led to the private sector of Heaven's Darts to begin committing slavery and genocide on inorganic sentients such as androids, genetically modified sentients such as Siriusians (named for Sirius, the Dog Star), and genetically engineered sentients such as homunculi in order to achieve their continuingly less realistic incentives goals. When subterranean reptilian species Homo Herpetus aka Tariks were discovered in the early 2900's, and later the semi-aquatic species known as the Meeri in 2940 and the smaller mammalian species called Mauskin in the 2990's, they, too, became part and parcel of the actions of these organizations. The latter was folded into the private sector's "volunteer searches" shortly after the passing the Anti-Deification Act of 2989, an act which the beginning to burgeon UPCS passed to put incredibly strict guidelines on the production of engineered sentient species and the rights inherent to these species as sentient beings. Finally, In the Earth Year 3028, The UPCS announced its official status and separated itself from the entity known as the UNE completely, leaving behind only those most loyal to private sector causes, and led a 2 year military campaign alongside all species, cultures and races of sentient people in the known Sol System against the United Private Militaries of Earth and Allied UNE forces. It was an incredibly one sided affair that ended unilaterally in the UPCS's favor and led to the complete dismantling of Heaven's Darts and all of its components and constituencies on Earth Date May 19, 3030. This date is now known as Mayteenth across all Earthling colonies and is celebrated with planetwide feasting and partying in honor of the end of progress at any cost as well as the beginning of the unification of the Earthling species.

You have no idea how many jokes you will have to hear about 3030 vision that day. It's beyond obnoxious but the wine and music and drugs and food are to die for. Hell, even homunculi like Dal whip up amazing libations for Mayteenth, and they don't have a sense of taste. Some places it can be quite Bacchanalian in fact, I recommend at least visiting once for it.

Not three months later, the first ever transmission to return from a Heaven's Darts vessel was received on what all Earthlings refer to as Contact Day. The transmission was a recording of the third crew to leave Earth, a hundred-person cruiser named Zephyr 1 captained by Marla Moore, announcing the playback and data of a received transmission along with a large file of all notes. A second recording arrived a few days later detailing even more information that showed many references to the Fairy Particles in the received transmission as well as new study data on the particles themselves. 3 weeks later Zephyr 1's third and final transmission arrived detailing how it would be the final transmission ans Quartermaster Alan Moore (Captain Marla Moore's brother) detailed he was the last surviving crew member and would be jettisoning beacons until the ship decayed due to local time slippage in order to aid further vessels in finding it. QM Moore also detailed the last of the notes and how he intended to set up all data to be able to be collected by the LCP relay as quickly as possible with the aid of further ships. Over the course of the next 35 years, all information from every ship that made contact with one of QM Moore's beacons or those of his eventual successors. The original transmission received by Zephyr 1 itself was returned in full with no corruption as the final transmission by any Heaven's Dart vessel, along with the signoff "So long and goodnight everyone, the stars are calling me to the airlock."

Dal doesn't always understand just how grim some things sound, this included I think. I think he just thought this would give a final feeling to the Heaven's Darts era. I honestly couldn't tell you if he realizes that person decided to take a long spacewalk without a helmet. Either way, bit of a yikes yeah?

This final transmission in 3065 marked the beginning of the Era of Cryptography for all Earthling species as the UPCS scrapped all non-localized space travel programs to instead focus on strengthening all Sol colonies and the decryption of the Deep Space Transmission Alpha (we now of course know Zephyr 1's discovery as the Ley Protospecies Transmission). It would take until the year 3315, almost 250 years to the day of receipt of final transmission, before retired UPCS Starfleet Commander and veteran of the Sol Unification War Dr. Sparky 'Sparks' McGruff and his team of the brightest minds of all of the Earthling species cracked the transmission wide open to reveal astounding information all about the then mysterious particles. It contained details from some sort of Protospecies about how these particles could be measured and why current equipment would have had trouble measuring them. It contained the name for what they were, calling them Flux-Oriented Aspatial Achronal Metatransitive particles when translated to English. The name became shortened to FOAAM Particles, however the name didn't translate well into other languages and presented a problem for communications. When the section detailing that these particles had a tendency to confluence into various sized flows both terrestrially and celestially was released, scientists quickly also discovered how to see such confluences on planetary surfaces and were startled to see they looked exactly like old human descriptions of Ley Lines, a phenomenon that had since spread to the consciousness of all Earthling species. As a direct result, all Earthlings now call these particles Ley Particles and their confluences as Ley Paths to ease communications. The most important section detailed how to use these Ley Paths to travel by charging them in specific ways to allow travel in directions along these paths only available by warping space-time. In 3363 Arcturus Fran became the first person to perform Ley-Flight in a single-person probe vessel that completed a path from Earth to Jupiter and back in less than an hour in local space-time. Most exciting of all, the pilot, also the Chancellor Adjudicator of the UPCS at the time, came back unharmed, the same age, and with almost minimal fuel costs. The Chamber of Chancellors of the UPCS immediately began a race to be able to use Ley-Flight for deep space travel in order to find the source of the Transmission or Ley Particles themselves. This would last for almost 900 years while Earthlings and now Solians, as sentient species who were non-native to Earth had long ago been discovered and created by accident by Earthlings, expanded the UPCS to achieve the resource load necessary to make the First Ark.

This time he's not mentioning it because everyone knows about it there. Big effing ship that transported a bunch of Solians to The Convergence and got the UPCS accepted into the IULPS. You know, the spoiler from earlier that still hasn't been explained? Anyways, the project is interesting and its development and broader context can be found in Catalogue No. Chi-SPT999332.

The remainder happens quickly as the First Ark finalizes building in 4212 and launches 10 years later with over 2 million Solians on board carefully selected for research and contact purposes. In 4224, The Convergence, a massive asteroid turned into a house of government for the IULPS. Solians expected to be met with the Protospecies but instead were met by hundreds of societies who had all discovered The Convergence as a result of some version of the same transmission. Ever since, all Earthling, and further Solian, species have been working with each other, the IULPS and the Cartographic Flotilla, and the Archivist Scionate to attempt to catalogue and discover the many nuances of Ley Path science as well as any information discoverable about the Protospecies that seems to have put everyone else on the right path for Ley-flight so many eons ago. As a scientist and Ley-cartographer, I recognize that this has little to do with the scope of this book and discussing aspects of Ley-flight, Ley travel, and the Ley Paths and science that make both possible directly. However, as a PERSON first and foremost as well as a Bosun with a duty of care to other people in this universe, I must reject this notion entirely. These discoveries you will read were not made in a vacuum and they instead exist in the context of countless choices of endless historical figures who worked to make them. Some of these discoveries were paid for in countless lives and dignity, others in a near resource collapse from overzealousness. Some were even paid for in sheer good luck, as in the case of Arcturus Fran's first flight. And yet others were paid for in kindness and care and unity. We people make decisions as to the context of the research we make, the maps we draw, the flights we take and so much more, and for ill or for good it will always change lives, potentially for generations. As my last thought for this foreword, I implore that, as you read and educate yourself all about Ley travel, you also educate yourself with a duty to use that information to do no harm. Reading as an articulating axis and practices involving Educational Technologies.

You may have guessed by the title of this post that today our topic is around reading practice, so let's dive together into these letters:

Bursting with creativity was the best thing about being a kid, if you ask me. I remember making the most out of an afternoon in the backyard, by flying to whole new realities in my head. I owe that to all the books I read throughout my childhood. Thanks to my mom, who would always take me to the municipal library, reading was pleasant and satisfying. It was different than watching a movie, for I got some power over the elements presented in the form of words (although we have some world/character description, the final images in our heads might not be the same as what the author originally viewed), creating a deeper connection with the narrative.

As I got older, I tried to read books in English a few times, but it was frustrating. The impatient 15-year-old Laura did not enjoy the fact that she did not know a lot of English words, so the process of looking them up in the dictionary was quite overwhelming, and I could never finish a whole book. After giving up for a while, I tried bilingual books, which have each page in English and in Portuguese. Having the translation of every word makes the reading more fluid and natural, it keeps a story’s sweet flow. 

In school, English reading was not the focus. Most of the time,  the reading practice was limited to small texts, either on a handout or in the textbook. It was never as interesting as the reading activities in Portuguese, where we had to spot different textual genres and linguistic elements or reflect on the story’s morals. Even though these activities were sometimes not the most appealing,  they offered much more possibilities of engagement and comprehension. Today, Brazil’s National Common Curricular Base (BNCC), has taken reading in the English language in a different direction. The reading process should maintain its authenticity, taking into account many important nuances, such as interdisciplinary approach, cultural and linguistic diversity, digital literacy and critical thinking. Further on, the axis of reading in English in basic education is also known as “reading and viewing” and it englobes the skills of reading and comprehending texts in English. Following these guidelines, teachers should be able to work with interesting authentic texts in English, from traditional books to websites, social media posts, news and so on.

In my opinion, the best reading technologies to exist are the simplest and most traditional: google translate and dictionaries. It goes without saying that you’ll find any word you need in dictionaries. But there is so much more than that! In a dictionary you can find a lot of example sentences, synonyms and antonyms. That’s why they will never cease to be a reader’s most important tool, our best friend. Google Translate, on the other hand, might have caused some of you disgust. But it is, in fact, the fastest and most practical translating tool. There are many words that are better understood by translating and a lot of time can be saved this way. Furthermore, on Google Translate there's also the possibility of listening to the pronunciation of the words, which can enrich the reading experience even more.

read chap 3-13 of theogeny this morning since i was free until 2pm (wanted to wait until it was complete before starting, and did 1-2 last night since i had some time). very nice story! the tone and style of your writing feels totally professional (and honestly surpasses many published authors i’ve read LOL). however, i was especially blown away by all of the historical details about ancient athens & greece. i’m as close to the opposite of an expert on the time period as possible, thus am not fully convinced this isn’t based on a true story where you got sent back in time, but then chose to come back to the present afterwards. were there any sources you leaned particularly heavily on? even my own experience writing a gen-ed history paper about the original Olympic games during my undergrad felt about as straightforward as navigating a swamp of hopelessly entangled, greek-speaking, arguing jellyfish, what with all the completely speculative secondary sources and glaring holes in the firsthand accounts of the events.

i’ve been away from the depths of the hp fandom scene for a year or two, but my recollection of your blog was that you’re a law student? given that law ≠ classical greek history (as far as i know), i’d say the fact that you specifically researched all of this for the story makes it even more captivating. (although the attention to detail does also align exactly with the depth of case-research i’d assume is possessed by the top-tier, most competent lawyers, though that is purely speculation). but if your real answer is the time travel thing, just blink twice and cite wikipedia or whatever ;)

also, i’m curious how realistic it is for a classics scholar to know enough ancient greek that she can carry even a stilted conversation with native speakers. if so, i find it mind-blowing that such depth of knowledge of a dead language is wrapped up into a subset of a history PhD—makes my own discipline seem like 3rd grade times tables.

so: I tended to use a lot of sources from Google Scholar, JStor, my own university's online library, what have you; there are a few times I went back and read through my old Classical Civilizations lecture notes, but I only ever took an intro class so I wasn't exactly delving into the minutiae. many of the sources are listed in the end notes, but I have an entire bookmarks folder (which I should probably delete) that looks like this lol

of course, I had to suspend my disbelief and expect/hope the reader would suspend their disbelief at the things that I just couldn't really know; but that was my moment for artistic liberty, which I used a lot of let me tell you.

and yes! I'm a second year law student. but I started this story when I was still applying to law schools :") I have worked as an archival and online research assistant/hired researcher/research fellow since I was 19 in my undergrad days, so I've become very familiar with the process of sifting through online archives. I also just really enjoy it! I love learning about areas of history I don't know a lot about, so this was just such a perfect passion project.

so — in terms of speaking Ancient Greek, I think it's absolutely possible that students at the PhD level would be able to communicate, given that many programs have really robust Greek language curricula. however, and this is something I touched on in the early chapters and something I researched to the best of my ability, the way that academic accents from non-Greek native speakers (aka, modern Greek people) sound is very different in pronunciation and would likely sound strange and unnatural to someone in Ancient Greece; such is the nature of language development. so, I think would have been pretty much like any non-fluent language speaker being thrown into an immersive program with no preparation.

I'm not here for any discipline ribbing, though! I'm sure whatever it is you study is just as challenging and engaging as Lily's field :)

He has multiple naturistic abilities; including being able to be a healer and was born with the ability to use photosynthesis through his skin. He's the most calm and introverted one of the other gods. Crows and deer are commonly used to symbolize him. He even has magical Crow form he can go in, and out of it, he uses Crows more often anyway.

Alan Saret’s (b.1944, New York) practice includes sculpture, drawing, painting, architecture, geometry study, writing, language study, and music. He is best known for creating sculptures with flexible materials, composed of wire and other “non-art” mediums. After a three-year sojourn in India in early 1970s where he focused on the spiritual and metaphysical, Saret’s approach to spatiality shifted to three-dimensional wire networks that explore the domain between order and disorder—leading to penetrated constructions that seem to come alive. Drawings with clusters of pencils, called “Gang Drawings,” were first used to represent sheet wire and later developed into an independent art form. While this work was labeled “anti-form” to distinguish it from hard-edged minimalism, Saret stresses its organic qualities, describing it as natural form because of nature’s flexible use of geometry. Although seen by some as process art, these works use process to reveal spirit and to ensoul.
