Purpose of Mastectomy
Tumblr media
One of the most commonly treated types of cancer across the globe is Breast Cancer. According to highly experienced oncologists in Bangalore working with Blue Bliss Hospital, one of the proven and trusted types of treatment for breast cancer is Mastectomy. This treatment is effective if the symptoms are identified in the very early stages.
Versatile Oncosurgeons in Bangalore indicate that Mastectomy is a surgery that removes all the breast tissues from the breast thereby preventing cancer from spreading to the other parts of the body. This can be followed up with a breast reconstruction surgery only if your doctor finds it necessary.
Types of Mastectomy Surgeries Blue Bliss Hospital has been recognized as one of the best oncology hospitals in Bangalore due to its sheer ability to diagnose and successfully treat some of the major types of cancers including breast cancer. Depending upon the stage at which the cancer is your surgeon may consider mastectomy to remove either one or both breasts to avoid any further complications.
Your surgeon may suggest a Unilateral Mastectomy in which a single breast is removed or a Bilateral Mastectomy which sees the removal of both breasts.
Preparing for Mastectomy Blue Bliss Hospital is well-known as the best hospital for breast cancer treatment in Banglore, not only for its clinical expertise but also for its compassionate approach towards patients.
Before the surgery, your surgeon in association with an anesthesiologist will give you a complete rundown of the procedure you will undergo, possible risks and rehabilitation procedures. You can also discuss available options with your surgeon.
A physical exam will be conducted and all your vital parameters will be checked to certify that you are fit for the surgery. You will then be advised on the period of your stay at the hospital. Your surgeon may ask you to stop your routine medications if you are under any, till the completion of your surgery and your first follow-up visit.
Purpose of Mastectomy As mentioned, a little while earlier, Mastectomy is a procedure recommended by oncologists to prevent or treat breast cancer from an early stage. Vastly efficient oncologists associated with Blue Bliss Hospital rated as the best hospital in Bangalore opine that Mastectomy can also be recommended under the following conditions.
Non-Invasive Breast Cancer Treatment
After a Chemotherapy treatment
Local recurrence of Breast Cancer
Two or more tumours distributed across separate areas around your breasts
Recurrence of breast cancer after treatments like radiation
Vulnerable and stand a risk of relapse of breast cancer
Breast Cancer can be cured if detected in the early stages. Results can be more positive and favourable under the watchful eyes of an experienced medical team. For the best and most professional approach to Breast Cancer, please schedule an appointment with Blue Bliss Hospital, the renowned Multispeciality Hospital in Bangalore.

Following the news that Kate Middleton has in fact been diagnosed with cancer, I’d like the take the time to offer some information on cancer in afab people and some charities to support.
Cancer is a very personal and scary thing to face, and according to Cancer Research UK, every two minutes in the uk someone is diagnosed with cancer. Over 182000 women in the uk are diagnosed every year.
Almost half of all cancer cases are diagnosed at stages 3 & 4, and screening rates for breast and cervical cancers have fallen in the last few years in England and Scotland.
According to The Eve Appeal, around 60 afab people are diagnosed with gynecological cancers alone every day in the uk, and 21 of them will not be able to receive appropriate treatment in time.
People around the world are woefully uneducated about cancer as a whole, but the stigma and lack of proper knowledge given to the public and young afab people about our own bodies means that we often go under diagnosed, or are too afraid or ashamed to see a doctor until it’s too late.
I’ll be listing some informational pages to help people learn about the signs of breast and gynecological cancers that I believe every young person with an afab reproductive system needs to know. On the pages from The Eve Appeal and Breast Cancer UK there is also information for transgender and intersex people.
All of these sites have information on how to identify possible markers of cancer, information on how to get tested, and on how to donate to their charities. I highly suggest everyone regardless of gender identity have a look through to potentially help yourself or a loved one.

Coelingh Bennink, H. J. T., Schultz, I. J., Schmidt, M., Jordan, V. C., Briggs, P., Egberts, J. F. M., Gemzell-Danielsson, K., Kiesel, L., Kluivers, K., Krijgh, J., Simoncini, T., Stanczyk, F. Z., & Langer, R. D. (2023). "Progesterone from ovulatory menstrual cycles is an important cause of breast cancer." Breast cancer research : BCR, 25(1), 60. https://doi.org/10.1186/s13058-023-01661-0
According to this overview, the hormone that causes breast cancer is progesterone from menstrual cycles, not estrogen or testosterone. The risk of developing breast cancer is about the same whether someone has normal menstrual periods or takes birth control to suppress their periods. The risk may be slightly higher in the latter case. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) doesn't cause a higher risk. Transgender women who take estrogen develop breasts that are the same as those of cisgender women, but with a much lower risk of breast cancer than cisgender women, and higher than that of cisgender men. Transgender men do not increase their risk of breast cancer by taking testosterone, and top surgery reduces their risk.

UK. What the Hell?
By Bryndís Blackadder June 4, 2024
A UK trans activist found guilty of sending threatening messages to author JK Rowling and Labour MP Rosie Duffield has now been sentenced. Glenn Mullen, 31, avoided jail as his eight-week prison sentence was suspended for two years.
Mullen, a Manchester-based trans activist, was arrested and charged with issuing violent threats to the two women which he sent in January of last year. Reduxx were among the first to identify Mullen, and immediately sent the details of his identity to Police Scotland once aware of them.

Scottish Breast Cancer patients are being offered a potentially life-saving drug that can cut the risk of advanced breast cancer spreading by more than a third, despite both NHS England and Wales choosing to block the drug. The game-changing drug, Enhertu is approved for use in HER2-low breast cancer patients in both Scotland and Northern Ireland, but in a controversial move, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has blocked its use in England, with women in Wales also being denied the life-prolonging medication.
Compelling evidence suggests that treatment with the drug, whose full name is, trastuzumab deruxtecan can actually increase the amount of time patients can live and ultimately give them more time before their disease progresses, reports The Guardian. In fact, earlier this week new data from the world’s largest cancer conference revealed “really exciting” news about Enhertu, when scientists revealed that it may actually be even more effective than previously thought.
Sharing the results of their recent trial data, medics explained how they had discovered that the drug, which targets the HER2 hormone (human epidermal growth factor receptor 2) can stall the growth of tumours by more than a year - a huge increase when compared to traditional chemotherapy treatment.

Hello lovely people,
One of my dearest friends has been recently diagnosed with breast cancer. She is such a wonderful person, a girl's girl, a LGBTQ+ ally, a hardworking person. I meet few people in my life that are so genuine and sweet. I know we live in hard times and everyone is struggling. But any donation can help her immensely. Here is the gofund me link.

every time top surgery is getting discussed in the news a trans guy will be like wow it sucks that everyone is being so publicly disgusted by my body with no repercussions it's as though they don't think we're people with feelings. and then a million people will jump in like ALSO SOME CIS WOMEN (the only people who can get breast cancer) ALSO LOOK LIKE THIS. this picture of a trans man that everyone is calling a mutilated freak instantly made me think of cis women, and look at her living her best life! misgendering? i'm a trans ally but come on, it's a drawing, don't you think that's being a bit silly? art is about interpretation anyway - we should celebrate ALL afabs who get mastectomies, for whatever reason ^.^
