Christine giggled, “I’m not that good, but I am a geek and practiced in German, French and English. It’s always good to have that skill, it opens up for more job offers.” 

“So this story is about?” 

“Love, belonging, musical performance….In this scene, Ariadne wants Hermes to take her to the realm of the dead.” 

“This is the one that is an opera within an opera?! Like Midsummer Night's Dream!” I gushed. ��But this is a little sad?” 

“Hmm it sort of is Like Midsummer, in a way. This part is the opera, where in Midsummer there is a–” 

“A tragedy! Even though it is mostly played for laughs,” I giggled. “This is such fun! I’d love to help you rehearse.”

There’s a webcomic called “Roommates” where characters from different movies/books/etcetera (Such as Labyrinth and Phantom Of The Opera) live together in what’s called the “Buildingverse.” So, I made my own: Where the mothers of various strange children (One is the Goblin princess by birth, one is a werecat, one has a supernatural murderer for a biological father...) kind of stick together.

Well, I’m sure Jareth and Erik could bond over how they both belong on watchlists. Ooh, I like your idea. It’s fun imagining what canon characters’ offspring would look/be like.

This reminds me, I want to do more crossover imagines again.

It really started before cottagecore took off. It’s that feeling of a rainy spring day, where there’s new life everywhere, but it’s dark and rainy.

A fanblog who went on hiatus and then never caught up but will, eventually. " I mainly reblog Labyrinth, Phantom of the Opera, and Pirates of the Caribbean here. Like I reblog all of those on my main, too, but here is specifically for that kind of stuff. I never finished the comic, but I am going to sit down and completely binge it, one, day! I swear!!!

@kloversims I play sims, and I used to post more. Now, I guess this is cc or something, IDK. Pretty dormant? Maybe I'll start up a new legacy or something *shrugs*

Honestly, I feel the exact same, and have always preferred Roommates over GND. Mainly bc of how much of a wasted nonentity Javert and James were (not to mention the severe lack of Valjean and Pony in relation to them)

And With how it leaned so hard into the “will they, won’t they, let’s be completely honest, they will but we’re gonna milk this indecision for all its worth” aspect they had with Sarah and Jareth’s relationship that was pretty much GND-original in terms of the Buildingverse.

And as much as I appreciate the webcomics for turning me onto Good Omens and Neil Gaiman for the first time, I wish there was less of them in GND. Bc them occasionally popping up when they do in Roommates made their appearances that much special.

And I wish they leaned more into the “scary unseelie fae” aspect of Jareth a bit more, than making him the butt of the joke for the majority.

Oh man, I’m glad I’m not alone in my DISDAIN for this wretched comic!! Thanks for chiming in!

Javert and James might as well not even live in the same building tbh. LOL Wasn’t Valjean in like, 1 panel, and that was it?? The “will they won’t they” is ridiculous, everyone and their mother knows they will. GND doesn’t have the guts to break them up. Or else Sarah/Enjolras or something could be endgame. But we can’t do that to the author’s otp, the only ship that matters in the universe lol

I don’t remember how often the good omens characters pop in, but the pattern seems to be that as soon as something goes mainstream, it shows up in the comic. Then everyone praises it. And then it goes back to being the “Jareth and Sarah show with a side dose of, how long can we mock erik’s mental issues until we blame him for existing again” Which reminds me, imagine how much better it would be if GND gave Javert/Valjean the amount of screen time it gave Aziraphale and Crowley!? As it should have from the start

Jareth should have been the one to go off the rails, now that you mention it. Unseelie fae powers, hello?? That’s horrifying! The fact that GND thinks Jareth is harmless is another point of peak humor. But then that would make Jareth (more) problematic and we can’t have him be worse than that evil opera ghost uwu

“Tais-Toi, Sarah! Can’t you go a single moment without being so loud!” Christine held her ear as she paused the video.

You ever read Roommates by Asherhyder and it's spin-off Girls Next Door by Pika-la-cynique? They follow Jareth the GK, Erik the OG, James Norrington, and Kaveri as roommates and the chaos they get up to. GND is about Sarah and Christine as roommates, and their daily lives going to the magical college (all the cameos!) next door. They've got their own tropetv page (called the Buildingverse) and seems like something you'd like.

A sweet tribute to the dearly departed. (Bonus points for my OTP taking advantage of the Jareth-free apartment.)

Crossover episode in which Interview is canon in that it's ALSO about true events in the form of a docudrama made from an autobiography and Lestat is just straight up Some Guy Who Exists, and because vampires usually only care about human media according to the Roger Rabbit law of comedy none of the vampires really care. There's a cutaway gag during a talking head interview where Louis explains via voice over that it ended up failing as a docudrama as a shot of the end of the credits is shown saying "some events are dramaticized" that every human somehow missed, and Queen of the Damned is referenced as a Noodle Incident that killed any hope of trying again to reveal the novels as stealth autobiographies and maybe also alluding to and implying that the Great Fanfic Purges were due to some sort of ego meltdown on Lestat's part.

Guillermo (who has canonically at least seen the first movie, and I'd like to imagine has read the books) proceeds to find this VERY amusing because, as the Vampire Chronicles Vampires have vastly different origins to those in the WWDITS universe; and obviously none of the world-changing events from the book have actually happened here (as I'm in the middle of season 3 and quite enjoying his bastardization arc), he is the only person in the room besides the two guys who are visiting due to [insert funny council shenanigans here, IDK maybe they're getting divorced or un-divorced again and there's a lot of paperwork bullshit and Lestat invites himself into their mansion as Lestat is wont to do]. And because Guillermo is seemingly the only person here who realizes that everything post-interview is just self-insert fanfic, he proceeds to subtly call him out on his bullshit for to make him squirm.

Due to legal reasons there is a running joke in which the vampires keep mistakenly calling them Tom and Brad because None Of Them Know Who These Two Are and having to be corrected (minus Collin Robinson, who picks up on this bullshit and joins in on it for fun, and reveals that he too has seen the movie and then very awkwardly imitates a line from it in order to feed off the cameraman). Guillermo purposefully enables this.

Guillermo brings up that he's heard Lestat had a prominent musical career in the 80s but he's never had a chance to actually listen to any of his work, and asks if he can reccomend any songs for him to listen to. He purposefully does this while Lazslo and Nadja are in the room so that he can't hypnosis his way out of it and Lazslo will of course want to talk with a fellow musician (the word "musician" overenunciated in true Lazslo fashion) and asking if he wants to play some of his work later.

Louis leaves the room because he's tired of this bullshit and can't watch anymore and there's a b-plot where Nadja tries to help him reign in his idiot husband and, "stop being such a pathetic wet baby owl eating rats all of the time." She interrupts him when he says he actually doesn't do that anymore. She and him and the Nadja Doll end up having group therapy over mutual Idiot Man Who I Love problems, and Nadja especially bonds with him because, "your idiot husband turned a toddler to see what would happen? My idiot husband turned a baby!" the bonding becomes increasingly one-sided, however, when Nadja mentions that the baby is at least doing well for itself as a member of the vampiric council and when asked how Claudia is Louis is just like "well. Um. She's. Not around anymore." And Nadja assumes this as pathetic wet baby owl man speak for Claudia being estranged from them.

The climax involves Lestat being put on the spot in such a way that he cannot easily weasel his way out of it and Guillermo letting out a very small laugh which Nandoor picks up on, and upon Guillermo going "oh, nothing, I just feel kind of bad for him is all."

To which Nandoor responds with, "Tom Cruise does not need your pity, Guillermo," implying he not only was getting the names wrong despite having mediated in Vampire Divorce Or Un-Divorce court, but may have thought that Tom Cruise was actually in their home.

Guillermo has to try even harder to resist laughter.

The episode ends probably with some sort of violent chaos amongst the group as Guillermo looks to the camera with a very subtle, politely evil little smile for half a second and Louis in the background looking incredibly exhausted

This one’s my main, but the ones off the top of my head: reylo sideblog: @pulltothelight, cottagecore: @darkspringaesthetic, I think it’s kinda vaporwave but it’s more the feeling of taking a roadtrip in the middle of a humid summer and you see something bright that you know you’ll never see again and you might not even remember it that’s my @feverdreamsummer, wintery aesthetic @royalwinterkingdom, @buildingverse which was originally a fan blog for the fan web comic Roommates but now it’s sort of a mix of Labyrinth Pirates of the Caribbean and Phantom of the Opera. my selfie blog: @becominglolitaprincess. Why I chose my URL: This isn’t the blog, but I had to make a blog for a high school english class to critique a classic novel and the guidelines on the blog title included that the title needed to be blindingly brilliant, and so mine was so brilliant it Burns, but then also it was around the time that Cloverfield the movie came out, and while I’m not a big fan of the movie itself, I think I’ve only seen it once, I was using Klover as a nickname at the time, and still do, so Burnt-Kloverfield came naturally from that.

Top 3 fictional universes I’d like to live in: I’ve been retreating to a very headcanoned version of the Labyrinth universe recently. Narnia. and a peacetime Hobbiton. Hobbitton specifically, where there’s no ring and no nonsense going on.

Was thinking about the buildingverse webcomics again. And for once, am not venting about how much I dislike G/ND LOL I think I figured out the um, core of what makes the latter so unappealing to me 

In roommates, the leads were ride or die for each other because they all had this intrinsic understanding that if they weren’t there for each other, no one else would be. Also people hang out with Jareth because they actually like him. 

In gi/rls next do/or, it’s straightup the Hunger Games- everyone for themselves. Everyone’s always backstabbing each other and gossiping behind each other’s backs. Like, the only real friends are Sarah/Christine and even that’s questionable tbh. And I guess people er... tolerate Jareth because IDK, he’s not Erik. And the closer Erik gets to being evicted, the less he resembles the opera ghost and the more he becomes wreck-it-ralph (can’t wait for him to go turbo and building hop). I think the fans of literally everyone except Jareth, came into the comic expecting it to be the girls’ version of roommates (AKA equal screentime and development) but it really was just a Jareth/Sarah fancomic from the start. Everyone else is just there to fill up space and contribute to the author’s OTP in some way. I guess that’s no fault of the writing then, just a case of “false advertising.”

“Ugh, Christine! I was just telling Jareth about this one Bowie song that’s so hard to find. I usually only look for the rare ones, because it’s not like he’s ever going to show himself again,” I huff.

“Look,” Jareth sits up straighter on the bed, “Christine, I’m afraid Sarah and I were going to start a steamy Trilby/Svengali one-shot here and—”

“Jareth!” I push his shoulder and he flinches.

“Shut up, Jareth, and let her sing the song!”

“It’s a hidden track on The Next Day.”

(Can't remember if I've already asked this because I'm a disaster) Who are your favorite Christines (in any version of Phantom, not just ALW)? I think mine are Leroux!Christine, Hanafusa Mari, and Sierra Boggess.
