was asleep; got up to write a tumblr post

there was a poll a while ago that was like, why are there dishes in your sink? and i was like, because the dishwasher is expensive to run, duh, i'm not gonna run a load of dishes until i have enough dirty dishes to fill it all the way up. (this was a habit instilled in me by my mom, who grew up super-poor and has Maximum Efficiency Instincts for every single household chore.)

but then i went to quantify this expensiveness, and various figures found via google suggested it actually costs about 17 cents to run a load of dishes. and ever since then i've just. run the dishwasher every few days, whenever i feel like i'm probably gonna want that spatula a little later, with whatever dirty dishes i happen to have, rather than planning out dish usage for optimal dishwasher space efficiency, or letting them pile up until there's definitely enough to run a load and feeling annoyed about how long it's going to be until i can get the good spatula back.

and that's just. way better. a major annoyance that's stressed me out pretty much my whole life is gone. thanks, that one tumblr poll about dirty dishes! valuable service, getting me to actually think about an unconscious habit and reason through it and realize i can kick it.

Okay I don't think I can fit into my essay but I just wanna shine a little love on the brilliant bit of framing in Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2001) around 1:00:46 to 1:01:53 where Hedwig explains that love is creating to Tommy. Then she gets struck with an idea and paints a mark on his forehead. When she holds up the mirror, the shot frames it so Tommy's reflection lines up with her own. Symbolizing how she feels he completes her (like in The Origin of Love!!!!!) only for him to move the mirror to better see the mark. Kind of like. Showing that he doesn't feel the same way/is more focused on how the mark makes HIM feel.

Random ask: what do YOU think will happen next for Ghost and Papa IV?

oh lord you‘re going for the real tough questions damn. Okay now honestly i know most would not agree with me but i think papa iv still is papa when the next cycle comes around. I know he said this was going to be his last time on stage but i just never thought that was convincing. (This might be my totally biased delusional ass just trying to cling to him for as long as possible)

I kinda wanna say that if this was his last appearance for real it would have been a bit more… for the lack of a better word grandiose? i don‘t know it just felt so unworthy of our most favorite and beloved papa to just announce his retirement in a mere subordinate clause.

For the next album and „theme“ i guess he would follow through with his whole „empire“ thing. I don‘t know, someone mentioned it before that it could be a phase of someone „ruling“ the built empire or the fall of it since every empire has a rise and an inevitable fall.

If he was heading to the whole „antichrist“ thing we‘d probably have an album around that. And how he affects the world now? I don‘t know man i am speculating.

It‘s been a while since i‘ve thought about these and what might come in the future. But i am convinced that he‘ll come up with something great.
