Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Date: June 1984 Platform: Nintendo Entertainment System / Arcade / Wii Shop Developer: Capcom / Micronics Publisher: Capcom / Romstar Incorporated Genre: Action / Platformer Theme: Fantasy Franchises: SonSon Aliases: SonSon / Son Son II / Capcom Generations / Capcom Generations 3: The First Generation / Strider 2 / Capcom Classics Collection / Capcom Classics Collection Reloaded / Minna to Capcom All-Stars / Rockman ×over / Capcom Arcade Cabinet / Street Fighter X All Capcom / Capcom Super League Online / Capcom Fighting Collection / Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium Type: Retelling / Crossover
Summary:
Son Son is Capcom's tribute to a Chinese legend called Xiyou Ji, meaning 'Journey to the West', considered to be one of the four classic pieces of Chinese literature. The main character in Xiyou Ji is Sun Wukong, or, when the words are pronounced as if they were Japanese kanji, Son Gokuu (hence the name Son Son).
All of Son Wukong's companions besides Zhu Bajie (Pigsy) are snatched by a demon and it's up to the two of them to chase after the demon and rescue them. The game auto-scrolls with multiple platform "tiers" and the player must switch between them and attack incoming enemies with their weapon. By switching tiers, the player can collect score items.

I am now opening custom Ace Attorney sprite commissions!
Tumblr media
I have 3 open slots.
Depending on how the initial slots go, I may or may not offer more. DMs also welcome.
>> Commission form! <<
Details
What exactly will you receive for $60?
Two 12fps looping .gif files in an Ace Attorney style, one talking and one idle, of the character of your choice from the waist up. They can be in pretty much any still position, but I get final say on whether something is too difficult or too complex. I will work to make the sprite as accurate as possible while adhering to the style.
What will you receive for $20?
Either a short 12fps animation of your character or another two looping gifs (talking and idling) in a different pose/emotion. An animation can be combined with talking. For example, this Wei Wuxian MDZS would be $80: $60 as a base price (standing still and talking) with $20 added for his hand gesture.
Tumblr media
This set of Lan Wangji MDZSs would be $100: $60 (base price, neutral animation) + $20 (happy) + $20 (displeased).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What counts as a "slot"?
Art of one character, no matter how many pieces I was commissioned for.
For more examples of my Ace Attorney-style work, here is the masterpost for my MDZS x Ace Attorney crossover series, which I have been adding to for a while now. Here are Kabru, Miku, and Hela Vitrum (my most recent commission). They are a good example of the base commission -- a looped talking gif and a looped idle/blinking gif.
Policies (read this before filling out the form!)
I am not affiliated with objection.lol. The sprites *can* be used in the program to great success. However, I will not guide you through creating a case in objection.lol. There are a lot of tutorials available. I am selling animated illustrations of your character and nothing else.
I am not affiliated with Capcom or Ace Attorney. My work copies the style of original games. In many cases, I have referenced pre-existing animations or sprites.
Just in case, I'm limiting the max number of pieces for a single character to 3 poses and 1 animation ($120) (so I don't get bored drawing them over and over again). One person can commission me for multiple characters but they will count as different slots (i.e., you may commission the max amount of work for Blorbo Bingus ($120) and also commission two poses for Dworbo Dingus ($80) for a total of $200, counting as two slots).
It is my privilege to take or refuse commissions at my discretion.
Depending on demand, I may adopt a first-come first-served waitlist system, but I really can't know at this point.
Payment depends on the price of the commission, but in general I will not start the piece until I am paid via Paypal. Venmo is a secondary option. My prices are in USD.
Once I get started, I work quickly, so any changes should be requested at the sketch stage. I will work with you to get it right. Once I have started work a piece (once planning is finished) I will not give refunds. Finished piece(s) should be done within a month of finalization (you giving me the go-ahead to start).
Filling out the form does not mean I have accepted the commission, but it does mean that I will contact you in a routine way about it.
These commissions are intended for personal use. The pricing reflects that. Tell me if you wish to use a commission in a monetized way, as that will require renegotiation.
If you wish to communicate with me about commission work without filling out the form, my email is [email protected]. I am not planning to offer commissions other than Ace Attorney sprites at this time. I will reply within the week.
Communication via tumblr DMs, asks, or comments is welcome!

All theories about RE and etc
I decided to collect everything I wrote about RE in one place. This will be a convenient article in which I will put links to my previous theories and analyses, which I will formalize with a brief description. Now it will be easy for you to navigate. And those who have found my blog recently will be able to see what theories and revelations I have written before.
It will be updated!
Tumblr media
💉1. Link. Theory detailing why Wesker couldn't have died in a volcano. And what would be his future path after this event, and how would he cross paths with Chris. It says that this is a theory of the possible RE9 plot, but now I believe that these are possible ideas for the future, not tied to a specific part. There's also a theory about Chris's BOW clones
💉2. Link. Theory of Wesker's leaked concept. I found a lot of oddities.
💉3. Link. Theory of why Wesker's eyes change color and what it depends on.
💉4. Link. I accidentally found a photo of a man who looked like an elderly Wesker when I was playing RE8. Theory of why it's Wesker and not anyone else.
💉5. Link. Video about this photo.
💉6. Link. Psychological analysis of Chris Redfield's personality.
💉7. Link. Psychological analysis of Albert Wesker's personality.
💉8. Link. A small addition to Wesker's analysis.
💉9. Link. Theory of why Wesker's virus is as contagious as HIV.
💉10. Link. I tried to determine which dates Chris, Jill, and Wesker's birthdays were on.
💉11. Link. I was bored and decided to identify every Wesker gun from all the games.
💉12. Link. Generalized theory about RE9. There I wrote the most important thing from the first link, and also added a theory about a photo of an old Wesker with long hair.
💉13. Link. I'm trying to analyze the butterfly effect in the history of RE, specifically from Wesker's side and people's attitudes towards him. How could a different attitude to personality affect the plot of all RE games?
💉14. Link. Detailed analysis of Chris's BOW from the ending of RE8.
💉15. Link. In 2021, Wesker's VA leaked information about some future game with his participation. I figured out this leak and put everything in its place.
💉16. Link. Once again, I find it strange how Capcom writes about Wesker's death. It's like they're trying to convince themselves of this, not the players. There is also a little bit about Jake here.
💉17. Link. Why Wesker is not a secret admirer of Rebecca.
💉18. Link. My thoughts on how I see the RE5 remake.
💉19. Link. There is an interesting date on the PG67A/W label.
💉20. Link. My headcannons about characters, part one.
💉21. Link. My headcannons about characters, part two.
💉22. Link. My headcannons about old Wesker.
💉23. Link. What is Chris's eye color?
💉24. Link. I saw the rumors about the RE9 and tried to be realistic.
💉25. Link. Piers and Jill are very important people to Chris. I told about it in more detail.

everyone else has posted their own takes, so why not mine! without further ado, i give you:
RESIDENT EVIL TRANS HEADCANONS (that are not wildly ooc)
enjoy! feel free to use in any portrayals.
~
JACK KRAUSER (trans man)
Tumblr media
his hypermasculinity and borderline, if not outright, misogyny and homophobia (calling leon "pretty boy," etc.) stems from his own dysphoria and feelings of inadequacy. from a young age, he presented and acted as masculine as he possibly could, in order to prove to everyone that he could be a "real" man. by re4, he's probably gotten the government to edit his paperwork so that in all but the most classified files, he's a cis man. i like to think he might not have even had to get top surgery, as he had naturally small breasts, and then worked out to the point where they look like natural pectorals. he wears a packer religiously, at basically all hours of the day--he knows the military would never allow him to take time off for bottom surgery.
ALBERT WESKER (trans man)
Tumblr media
from a young age, albert was encouraged to be something more, be something better than regular humans. therefore, it was an easy step for him to begin transitioning. he was intelligent enough to source what he needed himself, dose himself with testosterone and hormone blockers properly, and eventually get himself top surgery. he views his transition, and transitioning in general, as another, smaller way to improve yourself past what the majority of humans can be.
ALEX WESKER (trans woman)
Tumblr media
capcom all but wrote themselves into a corner with this one, canonically. i'll link to the actual post if i can find it again, but basically, the virus alex was injected with seems not to work on afabs. but, it works on her. need i say more? as for the finer details of her transition, see above. i'm sure alex and albert helped each other with their respective transitions.
ADA WONG (trans woman)
Tumblr media
ada is a proud and confident trans woman. she revels in her sexuality and (obviously, canonically) she uses her looks and her body as a weapon. especially if wesker is trans, i could see him wanting to seek out other trans people to work with, as he trusts them marginally more than he would cis people.
ETHAN WINTERS (trans man)
Tumblr media
i've thought about this one so much. he met mia in texas, so it seems likely he grew up in or around that area. as such, it makes sense for a trans man to want to leave the southern united states as soon as possible. plus, california is one of the first states to adopt transgender protection laws! not to mention, careers in i.t., computer sciences, and similar professions have statistically higher percentages of trans people in them, due to the career path being somewhat less gender-stereotyped. rose has blonde hair and blue eyes, and imo looks super similar to ethan and nothing like mia, so i like to think mia used one of ethan's eggs to become pregnant with rose. this would line up perfectly with the idea that she basically wanted to experiment with ethan's mold dna.
~
other, miscellaneous ideas: unfortunately, as much as i fucking love trans leon, due to the time period of resident evil 2 it would be pretty implausible for him to be an out trans man and work in law enforcement or any other government agency. however, that's not to say that he doesn't occasionally like more cutesy or traditionally feminine things, like the color pink, or cute stuffed animals, or hair clips, etc. i needed to mention him because it seems wrong to not mention my boy leon in a resident evil post.
hope you enjoyed these takes of mine! <3

A fellow Toasty lover I see...👀
Do you have any headcanons for them yourself, both general and within a relationship? I'm curious :3
Nakedtoster Headcanons!
◦ Toast loves Final Fantasy as everyone knows and because of that he’s becomes rather irresponsible with money when it comes to it. Buying the books, props and every single game.
◦ Toast and Xyx are the best of friends Toast can find your IP address and Xyx loves trolling people
◦ When Toast gets in a relationship and his significant other gets any type of hate online best believe Xyx is trolling them online, it’s a hobby of his.
◦ Toast owns a pair of pink cat ear headphones half as a joke and the other is because he likes cats and his hair is pink.
◦ Toast has been misgendered often in public because of his pink long hair.
◦ Toast comes off as the type to have a comfort game like, animal crossing, Minecraft, or Roblox.
◦ He doesn’t own many consoles he’s a PC and a Nintendo switch and maybe a Ds or something from when he was a kid.
◦ Toast is not against doing inherently feminine things like makeup and painting nails if you want to. He might not even take off the color off hid his nails because he’s too lazy.
◦ If you’re in a relationship with Toast he most likely sees you as a friend and a lover next.
◦ He would love it if you played Final Fantasy XV comrades with him and Xyx.
◦ He definitely wears those cringey shirts saying I left my video games for this not because he likes them but I they were gifts and couldn’t care less what he wears most of the time.
◦ If you have been with Toast long enough eventually he might dedicate a character In the games he makes to you.
◦ When it comes to dates with Toast they aren’t common given he is an introvert but you will be treated to snacks and Resident evil and the bad Final Fantasy movies he claims doesn’t do them justice yet but watches them anyways.
◦ Toast is the type of guy to go to comic con and other conventions, after all it’s hinted that he is a content creator with his Final Fantasy advertisement.
◦ He generally likes anything concerning Capcom for the most part and enjoys story more than combat.
◦ He can solve a Rubik cube no problem and rather good at puzzles of all sorts.
◦ I don’t know why but once again I see him as a monster energy drink consumer not so much on G fuel not even if he was payed.
◦ Toast can cook but only basic things like a proper breakfast and a sandwich dinner is a 100% on you or take out because even if he tried the food might be bland. He is willing to learn through.
◦ From what I can tell Toast dyed his hair he’s a natural blonde that dyed his eyebrows brown/black or he’s a brunette that has to bleach and dye his hair every so often. Whatever the case is, Toast would appreciate it when you help him with his hair.
◦ When it comes to you guys first kiss he is rather clumsy out of all the Blooming panic love interest I think he has the least romantic experience.
◦ Every year he allows you to pick out his glasses frames as he couldn’t care less what he picks through most of the time it remains the same and you’re just putting random frames on his face to see how they look.
◦ Toast doesn’t necessarily need glasses but he’s couldn’t see the writing on the board in the back of the class. He still wears them today to “enjoy the effort but into the games and graphic blah blah.” He doesn’t want to admit that he’s actually a bit blind.
◦ His favorite thing on would probably be a sundress (an actual sundress) or cosplay/ convention clothes.
◦ He loves the taste of Pepto-Bismol
◦ He does have back problems given his horrendous posture during gaming.

Watched Nick Apostolides play Separate Ways and wrote down stuff that caught my attention.
Guests on the stream: Craig (Wesker’s VA) & Andre (Luis’ VA). Andre joins for a short while mid-way through the stream.
- Nick was there when he watched Andre film the cutscene of Luis doing the flamenco. Apparently Andre nailed it in one take.
- Nick says Andre spent months researching the Spanish culture. (Andre talks a little bit more about it later.)
- Craig went to Vancouver three times in 2022 to film RE4R & SW. The main game & DLC were shot together. He couldn’t say he went to Vancouver more than once or else he would give away that there were extra content like SW & Mercenaries.
- Nick was not aware how Ada got infected.
- Craig played RE5 co-op years ago and is trying to play it solo but acknowledged it’s not that fun to play solo.
- Craig’s download for SW took 7 minutes and he was very amused by that.
- Craig can only talk about games that have come out so don’t ask him if there’s gonna be a remake for CV or RE5.
- Craig was not aware who or what he was auditioning for and only knew he was playing Wesker when he was flown to the studio. He asked them if he should play Wesker like previous incarnations or like what he did in his audition. They told him to play Wesker like his audition.
- Craig said when he filmed for RE: Outbreak 20 years ago, the actors only saw stick figures on the screen but now, as you stand in front of the mocap cameras, you can see your entire character model on the screen rightaway and he’s quite impressed how far technology has advanced.
- Craig said he did mocap for Outbreak for 6 months. He did not book a part in Outbreak initially but Alyson Court (Claire’s original VA) actually brought him to work on the game.
- Craig filmed all his scenes together with Lily and only saw Nick 3 times during filming since Wesker & Leon don’t have any scenes together.
- Craig has been a fan of RE for a long time. He played RE1 with his acting classmates and they were happy for him when he booked a part in Outbreak.
- Craig says he has never gotten a copy of any game he has worked on as the people he works with don’t work in game distribution. He only managed to get a copy of the RE4R deluxe edition thanks to an ex-girlfriend who works in game distribution.
- Craig & Nick know both Wesker & Leon are very beloved characters in the franchise and have given it their all for their portrayals.
- Both of them squeed when Wesker says “complete local saturation” and Craig has been waiting for a whole year wondering how fans would react to that line.
- Nick had no idea what would happen in SW since he didn’t get the script for it.
- Craig also had no idea Wesker would be in Mercenaries but put two and two together when he recorded lines for Merc.
- Scenes are filmed out of order. Craig didn’t know if he was filming for the main game or SW. He had to wait till the main game came out to see what scenes were shown in RE4R. Nick also has no idea if he filmed anything for SW.
- While the VAs have their own general idea on how to play their character as they walk into the studio, how they express their lines are based on a combination of what’s requested by Capcom’s Japanese team, how the translator translates Capcom’s requests, and Steve Kniebihly’s (cinematics director) direction.
- Someone asked Craig if he thought when Wesker was a child, would he shine a magnifying glass on ants. Craig said probably yeah and maybe pulling the wings of flies too. (Side note: The Ashford twins did that in Code Veronica)
- Craig was a musician first before he got into acting. In high school, everyone was into music and he made some music with his friends. His then-girlfriend asked him to audition in a school musical and he loved the acting expect of it. He then auditioned in plays before he went to acting school for college.
- Craig applied to both music & acting programmes for college. He always wanted to be a performer.
- Andre joins halfway through the stream. He enjoyed filming the opening flamenco scene even though it took a while to get the steps right. He doesn’t think he can do the dance any more since it’s been a while.
- Andre mimed the reaction to being pulled by a rope in chapter 1. He didn’t have confidence to pull it off and the team also agreed. He doesn’t have stunt training anyway.
- Craig on the other hand, recounted when he was filming being grabbed by a monster for RE Outbreak. He had a rope on his head while filming for that and he didn’t get stunt pay. But things were different years ago.
- Andre said the team took safety really seriously and even for simple things like pretending to fall over, Steve Kniebihly would tell the VAs not to do it and let the stunt team do it instead.
- When Craig auditioned for Wesker, the description was “Villain in a video game”. That was it. All the audition scripts were fake so actors who don’t book the part won’t leak that the game is being made.
- Andre lived & breathed Castellan Spanish culture for months while he filmed RE4R and it drove his family a little crazy. He even spoke with a Castellan Spanish accent for a while too. His family is of Mexican descent and Mexican Spanish pronunciation is different from European/Castellan Spanish.
- Nick was friends with Paul Haddad (OG RE2 Leon VA) before he passed away. He also took some voice lessons from Paul Mercier (OG RE4 Leon VA).
- Craig has not spoken to any previous Wesker VAs. He is long time friends with Alyson and she was his director on one project he worked in before. He has met OG Brad Vicker’s VA before.
- Andre has only met Neil Newbon (RE8 Heisenberg & RE3R Nikolai) in person.
- Craig enjoys playing bad guys since it’s fun to do something he can’t do in real life.
- Nick had to lower his voice for RE4R Leon since Leon in 2004 is a bit “sick of the same shit happening repeatedly” instead of being a newbie cop surprised at everything.
- Craig’s favourite scene to film was the Wesker & Ada confrontation at the beginning of the Island. He had to do the Wesker smirk at the end a few times as the team had to ensure it looked right on the Wesker model.
- Craig has a Guinness World Record for playing in the longest concert which lasted for 19 days, around 437 hours. He was in the planning committee for it and he played 5 times during the concert. To qualify for the record, there were a lot of rules. For example: at least 10 people in the audience had to be awake at all times, each song had to last at least 2 mins, and there can only be a maximum 30 seconds pause between each song.
- Nick got electrocuted in science class when he touched a capacitor with his bare hands. He mentioned that it really freaking hurt and it was almost impossible to let go. He had to force himself to open his hands.
- During the recording of the injury effort sounds for when Leon got electrocuted, Nick clenched his fists and shook them while grunting through gritted teeth.
- For Wesker’s injury effort sounds during Mercenaries mode, the team had to tell Craig to dial back as Wesker responds to injuries in a calmer manner.
- Nick had a lot of fun filming the part where Saddler transforms into his final form.
- Nick mocapped the pilot flying Ada’s chopper.
- Nick was completely mind blown by the stinger at the end.

PROPAGANDA
ATHENA CYKES (ACE ATTORNEY)
1.) Despite supposedly being the MAIN CHARACTER of the game she was introduced in, she somehow still always ends up playing second fiddle to Phoenix and Apollo, to the point where she isn’t allowed to take the lead on even so much as a single case. Instead of the senior lawyers standing to the side in a mentorship role like they do for literally EVERY OTHER PLAYABLE CHARACTER, Phoenix and Apollo keep stepping in to outright take over for her. She literally does not make it through even a single case without needing some male character or other to swoop in and hold her hand every step of the way, not only Phoenix and Apollo but once even Blackquill, her rival prosecutor, as well.
Why? It has nothing whatsoever to do with her competence level. It’s a video game; her competence is determined by the player’s, just like everybody else. It seems like the writers just couldn’t STAND the thought of her doing anything on her own, or thought that the players would walk out en masse if it wasn’t the Phoenix and Apollo Show every second of gameplay. (And yeah, it DOES sometimes take me some time to warm up to new characters, but that was the case for Apollo too! At least give me the CHANCE to judge her on her own merits rather than assuming that I’ll immediately write her off!) Like, why did you even WRITE this character if you think so little of her?
2.) WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN. She’s introduced in the middle of a male characters “trilogy” (Apollo justice) so the story is never about her. She appears in aa5 only to NEVER headline her own case IN HER INTRODUCTORY GAME and always fail unless a man comes in and saves her. Her own story is sidelined for Apollos. Next game, she only really appears in one case that’s a throwaway and still can’t do shit on her own. Ugh. She deserved to be treated better, more competent, etc.
3.) my girl is an attorney and a practicing psychologist at age 18 (youngest defense lawyer in the series) & is often shown to be more competent than her male colleagues, and yet is constantly pushed out/sidelined/generally treated like an assistant character rather than a lawyer (the assistant position in these games is usually reserved for characters who don’t have law degrees/are generally not educated enough to understand the courtroom proceedings to their full extent. athena is none of those things but she gets treated the same way by the game because. well. we know why.) Instead of being the main playable attorney in her debut game, the story is taken over by her male colleague (WHO ALREADY HAD A WHOLE GAME DEDICATED TO HIS BULLSHIT BTW) & her development is ignored in favor of his in both her debut game AND her second game. Even when her backstory IS explored it’s done via a male family friend of hers, meaning even when her OWN story is being told it’s not even about her it’s about simon’s lame ass. for extra context here in her debut game she is only the playable attorney in one case out of five, while the other (male) playable attorneys were playable in all or all-but-one of the cases in THEIR debut games. capcom hates women sooooo bad
KOTORI MIZUKI/TORI MEADOWS (YU-GI-OH! ZEXAL)
1.) first: ygo zexal is directed (and partially written) by known misogynist shin yoshida who is on record as saying that he would Never write female characters if he wasn’t being forced to by higher-ups. kotori’s voice actor signed a legal contract forcing him to include her character in Every Single Episode. she gets no duels that aren’t tag duels (2v2 duels), one of those is interrupted in the middle and all others she both loses, aren’t even shown in full, and all happen in the same episode. she is literally contractually required to be a major character and the dude in charge still point blank refuses to do anything with her despite the fact that she’s supposed to be the female lead of the series. please take pity on her for being handed to one of the worst people in the world and how despite the active attempts by other people to make her relevant in the story she was still denied that
2.) She only dueled once in the whole show and it was when she was brainwashed. Her main role is to only cheer the male protag on and say his name during his duels I guess.

Where DMC Characters Rank
Capcom Super Elections results have come in and it time to see where the characters of Devil May Cry rank among Capcom's wide array of characters.
Dante is very, very popular. He was voted as the #1 Capcom character overall with 26,874 votes, #1 in both the world and Japan, got first with male voters and second with female. Generation-wise, he was voted as the best by people in their 10s-20s, second best by people in their 30s-40s, and fourth best by voters in their 50s-60s (and higher I presume). He got most popular male character in both the world and Japan.
Vergil was voted as the 4th best Capcom character overall with 10,178 votes. He got the #4 spot in the world and was not on the top 10 list in Japan. He got 6th place among male voters and 5th place among female. People in their 10s-20s found him to be Capcom's 3rd best character, while people in their 30s and higher did not find him worthy of the top ten list. He's Capcom's third most popular male character in the world and the 7th in Japan.
Nero landed 16th place overall with 3,025 votes. People in their 10s-20s found him to be 10th place material, while people older than that did not find him to be top ten material. He landed 7th most popular male character in the world and did not make the list in Japan.
Honorable mention to reboot Dante, who made 70th place with 518 votes.
V got 71st most popular with 516 votes, I can only assume this is supposed to be V from Devil May Cry.
Tragically no women from Devil May Cry made the top 10s, only to be seen through the extended list.
We see Lady come in as Capcom's 80th most popular character with 419 votes.
Trish came in at 234th place with 86 votes.
Surprise contender Sparda managed to find himself in 264th place with 69 votes despite the fact we know nothing about him.
Nico found herself as Capcom's 275th most popular character with 65 votes.
Lucia got 379th place with 32 votes.
Nelo Angelo got his own character spot, apparently, and landed 452nd place. Why those 21 people didn't just vote for Vergil I do not know.
Griffon, Shadow, and Nightmare got grouped together and are Capcom's 507th most popular characters with 15 votes.
Kyrie is Capcom's 538th most popular character with 13 votes.
King Cerberus made 580th place with 10 votes.
Elder Geryon Knight made 770th place with 3 votes.
Mundus somehow managed to get 3 votes and wound up in 770th place.
The Doppelganger also got their own spot and got 2 votes that landed them in 816th place.
Death Scissors aka the bane of my existence apparently got their own character spot and actually got a vote that put them in 867th place.
RIP Eva I ran through this list twice and did not see your name.

Hey hun I just had a thought but befor I follow through with it, alot of people have been criticizing the killmonger haircut being used too much, is there something deeper then that to it or is that the jist of it
Both? Like, that IS the gist of it but there is a broader conversation to be had.
So to start off so we’re all on the same page, the reason why combover dreads are called Killmonger Dreads is because Killmonger is the most prominent character in recent memory to have them and the amount of characters to have that cut increased a lot since Black Panther came out.
So the reason why black audiences have been criticizing character designers (primarily in video games) for defaulting to the combover dreads is intertwined with a critique we’ve been making for much longer: the lack of variety in hairstyles for black characters.
youtube
As the video showed, satirical though it may be, for a lot of black gamers, if we wanted to make a black-looking character, we would only get a buzzcut, an Afro, or MAYBE some cornrows. That was it, and some games didn’t even have that.
So at first when we saw video game characters rocking the combover dreads, we were cool with it. Dreadlocks were historically characterized as “dirty”, “unkempt” or otherwise unattractive hairstyles (three guesses as to why that is), so we were all for video games normalizing them.
But then they did literally nothing else.
Instead of this being a gateway to explore more hairstyles for black characters, we just went from having 3 default settings to 4.
It was even more annoying when characters that were ALREADY known for having dreads inexplicably get their perfectly fine locks changed to the combover style.
Tumblr media
Do a quick google search and you’ll find a PLETHORA of styles you can put dreadlocks in.
To put it in perspective: the TERF wizard game has better options for black hair than most games that came out the same year. The TERF wizard game, y’all.
The bar was in hell.
And I say was, because, to end on an optimistic note, I do believe that we’re turning a corner. The Twitter account @/blackhairinvg makes posts showing off the different black hairstyles in various video games from indie to AAA. Dragon’s Dogma 2 gave us 7 (Capcom in general has been getting better and better tbh. Both Monster Hunter Rise and Street Fighter 6 had great options too), and Guild Wars 2 gave us over 20! I think we’re on the right track, and while we may get jumpsared with the combover dreads every now and then, I think video games are getting better with this.
I think the dark ages might be behind us. Cause we were down bad at one point.

Clegan Astronaut AU - Part 7
Masterpost
AU Summary: the boys as modern day NASA astronauts. Taking place in 2025, Bucky is about to head to the moon as mission commander of Artemis III while Buck is CAPCOM at NASA. Established relationship (obnoxiously in love).
Author's Note: the next chapter will be launch day! (I'm excited). For now, some mission prep, some quarantine shenanigans, some Gale pining for his husband (as usual).
---
November 4 Nassau Bay, TX
Gale’s life is about to go haywire.
He has just about 48 hours before his days stretch longer than ever, including 8 hour shifts as CAPCOM, reviewing Artemis 3 mission protocols, keeping up with Artemis 4 mission protocols, the odd media interview, and the occasional training exercise when NASA figures they can squeeze just a little more productivity out of him. Plus the added emotional weight of having a husband in space.
Which he should be perfectly capable of coping with.
For over a decade, he’s had a boyfriend in the service, flying fighter jets, or orbiting the earth on a massive and yet isolated space station. He’s also done all of those things himself and never batted an eye. The only difference now is Bucky is no longer his boyfriend. He’s his husband.
He’s his everything.
And this time, he’s not going to be even within the gravitational pull of the planet that Gale is stuck on. No rescue operations if something goes wrong; just the redundancy of a small space capsule and appropriately over-engineered suits and equipment to protect his fragile human body until he can make it home. Home to Gale. Where he’ll be waiting. Totally not an anxious mess.
Because he’s fine. He’s Major Buck Cleven. Not only is he a devoted husband, but he’s a professional adrenaline junky, a competent capsule communicator, a good engineer, and a skilled astronaut. He’s known across the agency as calm, cool, and collected. Level-headed. Aloof. Generally unphased. Always has everything under control.
That’s the image that he has constructed, the little self-portrait puzzle that he’s been putting together piece by piece since he was a child. Buck Cleven is fine. Will be fine. Has always been fine.
Buck Cleven wakes up alone in the morning, his eyes blinking open with the sunrise, and every day that Bucky isn’t here, he misses the warmth that should be at his back. He breathes deeply, rubs his eyes, turns onto his back, stretches his arm out across the empty side of the bed. Pepper, who was lying curled up at his feet, pops up excitedly and moves up beside him. She licks his face, making him laugh and scrunch his nose at the same time, and he scratches her behind the ears and under her collar where he knows she likes.
Then they start their day. Gale forces himself out of bed, throws on some joggers, a plain tee shirt, and his running shoes, and he shoves a protein bar down his throat. Pepper jumps around at his feet, nearly tripping him, as he grabs her leash from the hook by the door, and they head out into the crisp morning.
Gale has always liked quiet. A funny thing for a military pilot to say. But flying a plane is its own kind of peace, even when it’s not peaceful at all. He’s always felt calm and in control up in the air. But on the ground, he needs to force himself to slow down. There’s too many things to do, too many people that need him, too many problems to solve. Too many worries. Not enough air.
Sometimes Bucky – laughing, dancing, drinking, gambling, foot on the gas and not slowing down Bucky Egan – is his peace. Somehow, against all odds, Bucky makes him breathe easier and think clearer, letting him be vulnerable and tired and shy when he isn’t allowed to be any of those things to the rest of the world. But Bucky isn’t here. So a morning run is the only thing Gale has to clear his head.
No music. Few other people out and about this early. Just him and Pepper and the morning breeze. They first run around their neighborhood, and Gale focuses on the feeling of his feet pounding on the pavement, air being pulled in and out of his lungs, sweat dripping down his neck. He focuses on Pepper bounding along excitedly at his side and laughs when she gets distracted by a bird or tries to playfully jump up on him. They end up at the narrow boardwalk along the bay, run along it for a few minutes, and it’s here that they stop.
Gale lets himself collapse down onto the wooden boardwalk, his legs dangling over the edge, feet hovering above the water’s surface. Pepper lays beside him, her head in his lap, and they breathe in the salty air as they watch the water ripple in the early-morning sunlight, sending up dazzling reflections that Gale could stare at for ages. It’s one of those peaceful moments that reminds him of how special their little blue planet can be.
“Just a few more days, Pep,” he says, and she smacks her tail happily against the ground. “A few more days until John heads to the moon.”
By the time he’s stepping out of his car at JSC, Gale has showered, shaved, eaten breakfast, changed into his flight suit, and is carrying a travel mug full of black coffee. Everything he felt when he woke up, the loneliness and the apprehension, gets shoved into a mental bin labeled ‘off limits’ the moment he gets to work. Those things have no place here.
As he walks across the parking lot, looking down at his phone as he runs through his schedule for the morning, his coffee is suddenly plucked right out of his hand. He looks up through his dark aviator sunglasses to see Marge walking beside him, matching him stride for stride in her skirt and pumps. She’s scrunching her nose in disgust as she swallows. “This dark enough for you?”
“Could be darker.” He snatches his coffee back and takes another sip, looking at Marge pointedly over the rim of the mug.
“Have you talked to John?” She asks.
“A couple days ago. Why?” Gale has only gotten to speak with his husband a handful of times since he started quarantine. Every time, it manages to lift a weight off his shoulders and stir up his nerves all at once.
“He’s about to launch himself off the planet at hypersonic speeds. An emotionally healthy person might be a little nervous.” She tilts her head and makes a tsk sound. “An emotionally healthy spouse might be a little nervous for him.”
“He’s ready,” Gale says simply. “I’m ready. I’m fine, Marge.”
Marge sighs and narrows her eyes at him. He might fool everyone else, but after a lifetime growing up together, Marge can read him like a book. Something as small as the way he flicks his eyes away from her as he says it, the way he works his jaw the littlest bit, tells her all she needs to know. “You’re lying.”
“Hey, at least I’m good at it.” Gale takes off his sunglasses and props them on top of his head, smirking at Marge in that cocky way that says I’m charming and I know what I’m doing and you just need to trust me. Even though he knows that look doesn’t fool her. “You’re the only one who needs to know,” he tells her in a hushed tone.
The only one that needs to know that breathing is getting harder the closer we get to launch. That I wasn’t prepared for how much more difficult this would feel than every other mission we’ve ever been on. He can’t afford to let that type of emotion show. He has a job to do and he’s going to do it.
“I’m gonna talk to him tomorrow, after the press conference,” he assures her.
“Yes, the press conference.” She sighs, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. They’re at the door to building 1 now, the JSC headquarters, and Gale holds the door open for her. “Really hoping it’s less of a disaster than last time.”
“It’ll be fine,” Gale insists. “The crew will be over video call. So Curt can’t try to fight anyone this time.”
The joke falls flat on the Public Affairs Officer, and she shakes her head. “Right, it’ll be fine. Listen, remind the rest of your crew that we have the Today show interview this afternoon.” They stop outside the small conference room where Gale is starting his day, and Marge straightens up with a hand on her hip, pointing a finger very close to his face. “It should be a fun one, but I want everyone on good behavior.”
Gale chuckles as she spins on her heel to head back to her office in building 2. “I don’t think it’ll be a problem,” he calls as she walks away. He’s right, for the most part. The Artemis 3 and 4 crews are like night and day, despite being equally qualified professionals. Artemis 4 is a good group of young men and women who love to have a good time, but they’re nothing like Bucky’s rambunctious crew.
Gale, Sandra, Helen, and Macon. That’s who’s hitching a ride to the moon on Artemis 4. Gale and Helen will also both serve CAPCOM shifts for Artemis 3 starting in a few days, and they have been working tirelessly to make sure they know that mission inside and out. But today isn’t about that. Today is all about A4.
After a morning meeting discussing some updated mission logistics, the crew heads over to building 9, the Space Vehicle Mockup Facility, where full scale mock-ups of the ISS and Orion are housed for training. Gale can feel his whole body thrumming in anticipation, because for the first time today, they get to see the in-progress mock-up of Gateway, the first space station to orbit the moon. One of the main goals of Artemis 4 is to rendezvous with the Gateway modules that will be separately launched and already in lunar orbit, just waiting for a crew to add the habitation module and activate its systems. They will spend several days on board the station before Gale and Sandra descend to the lunar surface in the Starship lander, and Helen and Macon will remain on the station to conduct research and continue setting up.
Wandering through the Gateway mock-up is like getting to go on an exciting field trip. Unlike much of the other Artemis experiences, which are more like survival training. The mock up is still a bit rudimentary, but they can see all of the important things: where they’ll enter after docking Orion; where the Starship lander will dock; where they’ll sleep, eat, exercise, use the bathroom, perform basic medical procedures; the work benches where they'll be able to run experiments; and where all of the life support functions will be located.
“Welcome to paradise, crew,” Gale says as the other three follow him through the various sections. He points at a window in the HALO module. “Just imagine through that window you can see the surface of the moon. And in the distance, sunrise over the Earth.”
“You know, it hurts a little to be so close and not be able to touch down myself,” Macon laments as he looks around. “But this ain’t bad.”
“Not at all,” Helen agrees.
“I can feel it,” Sandra grins, patting Gale on the back. “It’s gonna be good.”
They just have to get through Artemis 3 first.
November 5
Cape Canaveral, FL
The final pre-launch press conference takes place mid-afternoon the day before the scheduled launch. Bucky, Curt, Rosie, and Alex sit together on one of the couches in their flight suits, mic'd up with a camera in front of them. Projected on their TV screen is the JSC conference room, packed with reporters. At the front of the conference room is a big screen projecting their video, so the reporters can see them as well. Marge is there moderating, along with Harding and some of the other Human Spaceflight team members.
Once the team at JSC has finished outlining the launch expectations and mission timeline, Marge opens it up to reporters. The crew gets the typical questions: are they ready?; how are they feeling?; what will they be doing during this or that part of the mission?; what are they looking forward to the most?
The first reporter to direct a question at Bucky starts by congratulating him on his marriage. Bucky thanks her even as he braces for an onslaught. But she goes on to ask him if he’s given any thought to what his first words will be as he steps onto the lunar surface, as the first man to step foot on the moon since the 70s. He laughs and says “Not as much as I should. I have some big shoes to fill, but I’ll give ya somethin’ to write about.”
Questions about him and Gale find their way into the conversation, and they’re generally innocent but they still have Bucky fidgeting and clenching his jaw. Curt can feel him tensing and leans over, covering his mic with his hand. “These fuckers are just jealous cause every one of ‘em has a crush on your husband,” he whispers, and Bucky has to bite his tongue to keep from laughing as Alex answers a question about the observation tasks he and Rosie will carry out in orbit.
“Bucky and Rosie,” one reporter says at some point. “I know you’re both big Yankees fans. Have you seen the clip of Aaron Judge talking about you during an interview yesterday?”
Bucky and Rosie share a quizzical glance before shaking their heads. A few days ago, they had enthusiastically celebrated a Yankees World Series win, the first since 2009, beating the Dodgers in 4 out of 7 games.
There’s movement and muffled voices as the reporter leans over to talk to Marge, who is nodding her head and grinning. One of the staff members takes the reporter’s phone and puts it up close to the camera, so the crew can see the video playing on it. Aaron Judge, Yankees outfielder and MLB All-Star, is nodding as a reporter mentions the two astronauts about to head to the moon, celebrating the Yankees victory in quarantine. She asks if he has anything he’d like to say to them.
“For sure,” he says. “I’m really excited about the Artemis program myself and look forward to following along with their mission. Even better that we’re sending two Yankees fans up there.” He looks into the camera. “Bucky and Rosie, wishing you all the best. Good luck up there, doing amazing things that just blow my mind. We wish the whole Artemis crew a safe mission, and we’d love to have you guys out to a game next season.”
Bucky laughs in amazement, star-struck, and he and Rosie high-five over top of Curt. They’ll be talking about this for days, no doubt. Marge makes a mental note to engage with the video on social media.
They’re almost home-free when one of the last questions of the day once again gets pointed at Bucky. “Major Egan,” the reporter says. “You’ve been getting a lot of attention around this mission due to your sexuality. I know you’ve spoken on it at length before, but do you feel any extra pressure as discourse heats up ahead of launch? How do these comments, especially the negative ones, impact your mindset?”
Bucky bites his cheek and nods, takes a deep breath. “It can be disheartening, seeing people get so wrapped up in the wrong things sometimes,” he says honestly. Then he all but lies. “But no, it hasn’t really affected my mindset too much. In this line of work, I can’t afford to let that kind of thing get to me. I know who I am, and who I am is a damn good astronaut focused on my mission.” At least that last part is mostly true. All the turmoil around his sense of self can weigh on him all he wants in his daily life, but once he’s locked into his spacesuit or strapped into a fighter jet, it all has to go out the window. That’s how he’s always been. That’s the only way to survive.
“God, I just want to fly,” Bucky groans in exasperation once the cameras are off and the others have moved off the couch, letting him stretch across the whole thing as he covers his face with his hands. “I just want to fucking do my job and fly. Why does it all have to be so political?”
“At least this was more… controlled,” Rosie points out as he hands one of their support team members his mic. He carefully unclips Bucky’s as well.
Bucky rolls his eyes behind his hands. Not at Rosie. Just at… the whole world. “Why does it even have to be an issue. Why does it fuckin’ matter.” He rubs at his cheeks, his eyebrows, grips his hair, and then rests his hands over his chest as he stares at the ceiling. “I’m a pilot. Why does it have to matter who I married? I serve this country, and no one ever gave a damn before. People callin’ me a fag and all. What is this? The fuckin’ 60s?”
“You could… I dunno, like, reclaim it,” Curt says as he plops onto the opposite end of the couch, lifting Bucky’s feet and letting them rest across his lap.
Bucky lifts his head to look at him, his eyes narrowed. “What?”
“Ya know, the word fag,” Curt tries to explain. “If they’re gonna call ya that anyways, just own it.”
“I-“ Bucky doesn’t even know. He shakes his head. “What- How would I even do that?”
Curt is quiet, resting his chin on his hands as he leans his elbows on top of Bucky’s legs and stares off into space. He’s quiet for so long that Bucky thinks he’s not gonna follow up with that thought after all. But just before Bucky is about to let his head fall back to the cushion in despair, Curt giggles. In a concerning kinda way. And grins to himself. “Astrofag.” The word bubbles out of him in a laugh, like he barely meant to say it.
Bucky’s face could not contort into more of a ‘what the fuck’ expression if he tried. “Astrofag?”
Alex and Rosie are laughing uncontrollably, but Curt just nods seriously. “Yeah. Astronaut. Fag… astrofag.”
“You drunk?” Bucky asks.
Curt shakes his head slowly, still staring off towards the wall, chin still propped on his hands. “Haven’t had alcohol in days.”
“Hmm, must be withdrawal then.”
Alex shrugs. “It’s not the worst idea.”
Bucky looks at him, betrayed. “Oh fuck off,” he says, and he drops his head back to the couch cushion, throwing his arm over his eyes.
He must pass out for at least a little while, cause next thing he knows he’s being woken up by a rubber football hitting him in the stomach. His eyes shoot open as his hands automatically scramble to catch the ball. “Hey astrofag,” Alex calls out. “Your boy is on the line.”
Bucky squints at the bright lights above, but is vaguely aware of a ringing noise coming from his phone. The clock on the wall says 6pm. The time he scheduled with Gale. “Oh god,” he mumbles, half tumbling off the couch as his long legs try to stand him upright. He makes it to the table, where his phone is sitting face down, on the final ring. He nearly misses the accept button in his haste to answer the FaceTime call.
“Hey,” Gale says, his eyes lighting up when he sees Bucky. The corner of his mouth quirks up in a small, fond smile as he chews on a toothpick, sitting at the desk in their bedroom. Bucky recognizes the historic plane prints on the wall behind him: A B-17 Flying Fortress, a P-51 Mustang, and a Bell X-1, the first aircraft to exceed Mach 1.
“Aren’t you a sight for sore eyes.” Bucky grins, immediately feeling better as he sits in one of the chairs at the table. Gale looks tired and soft, his hair messy and hanging over his forehead, no doubt from running his hand through it too many times today. Bucky wants to wrap him up in his arms so bad. “You playin’ hooky, Buck? Tomorrow’s launch day. Shouldn’t you be at the space center scrambling around like a crazy person?”
Gale doesn’t answer but instead suddenly looks downwards, laughing, and the camera gets jostled around as he repositions his phone. Bucky catches a glimpse of Pepper trying to insist she’s a lap dog, half climbing over Gale’s legs. He gently shoves her off with a faint “no Pep.” She whines loudly. “Don’t you start.” Now is not the time for a screaming Husky. He pauses, though, looking down at her, and he must decide that she looks pitiful enough because he sighs deeply and relents. “Okay, fine.” Then the phone camera is shaking again as he leans it up against the back wall. Next thing Bucky sees is a camera full of excited Husky leaning across the desk, her nose bumping against Gale’s phone.
“Hold on, girl, come back here.” Gale pulls her away, and Bucky is graced with the hilarious sight of his husband, mostly covered by a husky that’s half as big as him, peeking over Pepper’s head. His voice is muffled by her thick fur. “Say hi do Daddy, Pep.”
Bucky grins and says “hi Pepper,” but all of a sudden his stomach is doing weird somersaults at the sound of Gale saying that. ‘Say hi to Daddy.’ Some weird feeling he can’t explain wells up in his chest. Some sort of longing or loss or nostalgia or hope for a future that he isn’t sure they’ll ever be able to have in this line of work. Too busy. Too dangerous. Too unreliable. Next day never guaranteed. A future Bucky has never even been sure he wants, but one he might’ve liked to daydream about. He breathes deeply, pushing the thought aside. Who knew that sending yourself into danger as a married man made you feel things.
But Gale is shoving Pepper back to the floor to lay at his feet, and he looks back up, completely unaware of how his words are sticking in Bucky’s brain like pins in a cushion. “I watched your press conference. You did a great job.”
“Oh. Yeah, thanks.” Bucky huffs, trying to mentally shake himself off. “I just wish they’d stop askin’ about… things that aren’t about the mission.”
“I know, darlin’. I-” Gale pauses, squinting at Bucky as he raises a glass of water to his lips. “You’re still in your flight suit?”
“Mmm,” Bucky nods, thankful to have an out. It’s not that he doesn’t want to talk to Gale about his media problems. He just doesn’t have anything left to say. And pity isn’t what he wants. “Fell asleep on the couch and no one bothered to wake me. Hey, you had an interview with the Today Show right?”
“Yeah. It was a good time actually.” A small part of Gale always wanted to be a teacher of some sort, and he loves sharing things he knows with people who are interested. “We got to show them the simulators. Let them try the controls. Scare them with the alarms.”
Bucky remembers when Artemis 3 got to do something similar with Today the previous year. How he missed the fun and simplicity of those types of interviews, when reporters mostly just wanted to know about the mission and the rocket and the capsule. “Better days,” he sighs.
“Oh! And we got to show them around the new Gateway mockup,” Gale adds. “Which is incredible, by the way.”
“Can’t believe you get to set up Gateway,” Bucky pouts. “God I’d love to see it.”
“You get to be the first man on the moon in decades. Stop whining.”
“Astrofag!” Curt suddenly yells as he walks into the common room. Bucky hears Gale choke on a sip of water, but he doesn’t see it because he’s already covering his face with one hand in embarrassment. “What are- Oh, Buck, didn’t see ya there.”
“Hey, Curt.”
“I’ll just be over there,” Curt motions to the couches, where Alex is drawing in his sketchbook and Rosie is quizzing him on protocols.
“Astrofag?” Gale is arching his eyebrow higher than Bucky really thought it could go.
He waves his hand dismissively. “Curt thinks I should reclaim the word fag or somethin’. Since people wanna throw it around like it’s 1964 and not 2024.”
“Not his worst idea.”
“Alex said the same thing.”
“Not sure I’d say it in front of the press, though.”
“Oh believe me, I will never be saying it in front of anyone.” Bucky is gay. Everyone knows he’s gay. But he is not that particular kind of gay, whatever that means. He takes a deep breath, ready to move on.
“So, big day tomorrow,” Gale says. And immediately regrets it. Obviously tomorrow is a big day. Bucky does not need to be told that tomorrow is a big day when he’s the one strapping himself onto the top of one of the world’s largest explosives. Gale shakes his head at himself, feeling like that awkward teenager again that doesn’t know how to flirt.
Bucky just bites at his bottom lip and half smiles, though, amused that his husband, who is known across the country for being charming and so sure of himself, doesn’t know how to carry on a conversation.
“Ya know, I was thinking,” Bucky replies. “You’re basically the reason I made it this far.”
Gale does this thing where he tilts his head just the littlest bit and licks his lower lip, and it makes Bucky want to kiss him. “Yeah? How’s that?”
“Woulda failed differential equations without you.”
Gale can’t help but laugh. “John, you would’ve failed every math and physics class without me. Some of our professors had to go out of their way not to fail you.”
This is arguably true, but it can never be proven. Bucky Egan was not a stellar student. Buck Cleven spent countless hours tutoring him, or at least trying to. Trying to convince John to pay attention long enough to actually be tutored – ‘no Bucky not in a dirty role play kind of way.’ – a task that became both far harder and far easier – ‘study with me for 30 minutes and I’ll give you a kiss’ – once they started dating. Arguably, Bucky started improving significantly with Gale’s help, and arguably, Gale dragged him along with a white-knuckle grip and a sometimes concerning level of loyalty that could in fact be referenced as the reason Bucky got his B.S. in engineering at all.
But Bucky was also the exact right mixture of decently intelligent and flat-out charming, with an excitable and distracted air about him that made his professors think that if he’d just apply himself properly, he could do amazing things. Bucky was always good at getting on people’s good sides. He was good at getting extra chances. He didn’t always need it, but here and there, those qualities may have saved him from having to retake a course or two.
And it turns out they were right anyways. If he applied himself properly, he’d fucking soar.
Bucky shrugs smugly. “Well now I’m going to the moon and my professors are stuck teaching calculus to idiots who can’t tell a sequence from a series.”
“So, idiots like you,” Gale clarifies.
“Yes,” Bucky agrees. “But I’m going to the moon so it doesn’t matter anymore. Ain’t gonna be no sequences and series up there. That’s what we got mathematicians and engineers for.”
“You are an engineer.” According to his degree, at least.
Bucky shakes his head though. He hasn’t thought of himself as an engineer in years. “I’m actually the best damn pilot this town has ever seen.”
“And so humble,” Gale snickers.
Curt pipes up from across the room. “Gotta fight me for that title, Egan.”
“Alright, let’s have it out on the moon then.” Bucky turns to look at him, motioning between them as he stands up so fast that the chair he’s sitting in falls over backwards. He sets his phone face-up on the table so Gale is looking at the ceiling and raises his fists. “Me and you. Landing a tin can in one-sixth G.”
Curt hops over the back of the couch and puts his hands up in front of him, throws a fake punch in Bucky’s direction as he steps closer. “You’re on.”
Gale’s voice interrupts from the phone speaker. “I believe I was the first to outrank both of you, so doesn’t that make me the better pilot?”
Curt leans over top of the phone and points a finger at the camera. “Stay outta this Gale. This is between me and ya bitch ass husband.” He throws another fake punch that lands softly on Bucky’s shoulder, and Bucky flinches backward dramatically.
Alex and Rosie are chanting “fight fight fight fight” in the background.
“You’re just mad cause you both know it’s true,” Gale asserts.
Bucky picks up the phone again. And the chair. He spins it around backwards in front of him and sits in it with his legs straddling the back. He smirks at his husband.  “Excuse me but are you gonna be the first gay man on the moon?”
Gale smirks right back, leaning forward to rest his elbows on his desk. “As you said, you’re just an underpaid guinea pig.”
“Yeah,” Bucky says, as Curt gives Gale the middle finger over his shoulder before wandering back over to the couches. “The first gay underpaid guinea pig to land on the moon.”
Gale pulls the toothpick out of his mouth, using it to point at Bucky. They may be married, but they have never been above a little competition. “And you really think that’s because you’re the best pilot around?”
“Damn right I do.”
“If that’s what gets you through the day, darlin.’”
“Buck’s sassy today,” Curt loudly whispers to Rosie and Alex.
“Oh it gets me through the day alright,” Bucky says cheekily. “It’s getting me to the moon after all.”
“Send me a postcard, would ya.”
“Anything for you, angel. I’ll sign it ‘best pilot at NASA.’”
Gale rolls his eyes. “Your call sign shoulda been PITA.”
“What?” Bucky scrunches his nose in confusion.
“Pain In The Ass. P. I. T. A.” Gale enunciates each letter and blinks at Bucky innocently.
Bucky nods thoughtfully, propping his elbow on the back of the chair and resting his chin on his hand. “Yeah, but I’m a pain in your ass.”
“We’re all screwed aren’t we,” Alex sighs as he scribbles in his notebook.
Rosie hums before saying, with an incredible nonchalance, “Actually, I believe Gale is the only one getting screwed.”
“Actually,” Alex counters, not even looking up. “He’s not getting screwed cause Bucky is here. So maybe that’s why he’s cranky.”
“Gale’s cranky a lot anyways,” Rosie rationalizes.
“Maybe you should do something about that Bucky,” Curt says, far too loudly. He leans over to look at Alex’s drawing, but Alex tilts it away, making Curt fall across his lap as he tries to follow it.
“I’m right here guys,” Gale cuts in, and Bucky glances at him, almost bursts out laughing when he sees how hard he’s blushing.
But messing with his husband is a favorite pastime, so he looks Gale dead in the eye when he replies, “Oh I plan to do something about it. It’ll be the first thing I do as soon as I get home from the fuckin’ moon.”
Gale hides his face in his hands and groans. A month from now. That’s a long time to wait. For anything.
A lot can happen in a month.
“Alright,” Gale says, pulling his hands away. “That’s enough humiliation for one day. You better get some sleep, astrofag.”
“I know you are but what am I?” Bucky sticks his tongue out, and Gale just shakes his head in exasperation.
They bring themselves back to reality, composing themselves, and the moment lingers. “Well,” Gale finally sighs. “I’d say good luck now, but I’ll be right there with you tomorrow.” He starts his shift as CAPCOM during the launch countdown. He’ll be the one communicating with the crew as they shoot into orbit.
“Lookin’ forward to it, angel.” Bucky takes a deep breath, taking in the sight of his husband for the last time before leaving the planet. “Guess I’ll see you in the stars.”

Biography
In search of a new, more devastating, weapon, the Russian military began work on the development of androids - superhuman robots built for the purpose of causing destruction. The first step in production was the prototype model of what was to become a line of military robots, which were named "Jack". The prototype was stolen by Heihachi Mishima and his Mishima Zaibatsu, but Russia was still able to produce their main line of Jack robots without the prototype at hand. With the project a success, the first Jack was entered into the King of Iron Fist Tournament. On learning of this, Heihachi entered Prototype Jack into the tournament to face its upgraded counterpart. Prototype Jack was ultimately destroyed by Jack. A couple of years later, the genius Russian scientist, Doctor Bosconovitch, was kidnapped by the new CEO of the Zaibatsu, Kazuya Mishima. Bosconovitch repaired and updated Prototype Jack. After being remodeled and gaining new abilities, Prototype Jack was entered into the second tournament as a rival to the upgraded Jack robot, Jack-2.
It is unknown what happened to Prototype Jack after this. In the non-canonical Tekken Chronicle, some of Prototype Jack's parts, along with parts from Jack and Jack-2, were used in the creation of Gun Jack.[3] Given that Gun Jack inherited some of Prototype Jack's moves, and was partially built in Mishima Industries where Prototype Jack received its upgrades, it is possible that canonically its remains were indeed dismantled and used in the creation of Gun Jack.
Personality
Despite being a robot, Prototype Jack was able to develop some kind of sentience. As a result of being discarded in favor of the main Jack series, it came to resent the Jacks and their creators - the Russian government. As a result, Prototype Jack is an aggressive character, determined to grow stronger and smarter in order to destroy all of its opposition, especially the Jacks, which it sees as potentially obsoleting it and jeopardizing its utility. While silent in battle with the exception of generic grunts and growls, outside of battle Prototype Jack was very vocal about its thirst for strength and intelligence, and frequently practices its newly-learned abilities to the point of perfection to ensure it will never again be defeated.
Appearance
As a prototype model, Prototype Jack's appearance lacks the finesse of the main line of Jacks. In its original appearance, it lacks a human-like torso and arms; its robotic frame is visible and it possesses a pincer and a drill in place of arms. Prototype Jack has a humanoid head, although it is noticeably damaged, and one of its boots is a metal prosthetic. After being remodeled, Prototype Jack gained a new, more distinctive look. It now looks more like the main line of Jack robots, although it lacks the Jacks' skin-like finish; it instead has a shiny, metallic finish. It also now has a rotating hand, a feature which was expanded upon in later releases, allowing it to spin at the waist also.
Outfits
Main Article: Prototype Jack/Outfits
The original build of Prototype Jack wore only green camouflage pants and left the rest of its robotic body exposed. Its second outfit was a bright metal exoskeleton or suit of lightweight body armor, giving it a Robocop-like appearance. After being remodeled for Tekken 2, Prototype Jack received the same outfit of camouflage pants, tank top and combat boots worn by the main line of Jack robots. While these Jacks sport a distinctive Mohawk hairstyle, Prototype Jack differed by wearing sunglasses and a military cap.
Story
Tekken
Version 1: The prototype for Jack was developed in Russia. Since it was just a step in the production, the skin was removed from the mecha. Prototype Jack (or P. Jack, for short) was built only for power, so his power capacity far surpasses that of the completed Jack. The tournament's sponsor, Heihachi Mishima, has entered P. Jack into the contest in order to pit him against Jack.
Version 2: P. Jack is the experimental version of Jack, which Russia developed. As it is only a prototype model, its mechanics are still evident. Its overall balance is bad, but even so, it possesses a power that far exceeds Jack's own. Heihachi has entered Prototype Jack in the tournament to confront Jack, whom it hates.[4]
Tekken 2
Tekken 2 Prototype Jack's Ending
Version 1: After the first King of Iron Fist Tournament, the remains of the first Prototype Jack unit (a first-stage model of the final Jack model) were repaired after almost being destroyed by Jack's rampaging combat abilities. Upon reactivation, P. Jack complained that his alter-ego had received a refit, and he repeated his complaint until his fuel ran out. Now resting in Kazuya Mishima's laboratory, P. Jack was left untouched for months before a back-up fuel supply reactivated him, and once again he began his constant pleas for a new look. To quiet him, Kazuya gave his captured scientist, Doctor Bosconovitch, the task of remodeling the robot.[citation needed]
With a cunning memory change, the doctor managed to convince P. Jack that his new body afforded him superior protection to Jack's, despite it being only a hat and sunglasses. Kazuya is currently goading P. Jack, demanding more programmed maneuvers in time for The King of Iron Fist Tournament 2. Having repeated his fighting moves over and over (to such an extent that the doctor disconnected P. Jack's voice box), P. Jack now feels his next encounter with Jack will have a much different conclusion.[citation needed]
Version 2: Prototype Jack, an android built for military applications. Prototype Jack solicited Kazuya's assistance with upgrades after learning that only its successor, Jack, was making advances in that area, and for reasons beyond its understanding, Kazuya promptly agrees and has Dr. Bosconovitch comply with the androids request. Unbeknownst to it, the only changes made were to its outer shell, which was now armor plated. Prototype Jack despises both Jack and its developers, namely Russia. Recent overwrites of its own CPU has resulted in memory loss, causing Prototype Jack even more grief.[5]
Ending Description: Prototype Jack traverses a tunnel and emerges from the shadows into a chamber with a vertical opening. P. Jack turns on the boosters in its legs and rises upward, into the sky. As it flies away, it explodes and three screws drop back onto the ground.
Other Appearances
Tekken: The Motion Picture
In Tekken: The Motion Picture, three Prototype Jack robots are programmed to protect the labs in which Lee Chaolan and Heihachi Mishima had their test subjects hidden. There comes a point in time where the three Prototype Jacks and Jack-2, along with Lei Wulong, have a battle in the middle of the lab.
Tekken Tag Tournament
Tekken Tag Tournament Prototype Jack Ending
Prototype Jack appeared in Tekken Tag Tournament as a playable character.
Ending Description: Prototype Jack and Gun Jack are standing facing each other. They nod to each other in unison, then turn to face the screen. They then both lift their arms and fly up into the sky, performing a synchronized version of one of their win poses. This ending takes place at Paul's stage.
Namco X Capcom
Prototype Jack appeared in Namco X Capcom as an enemy character. It first appears in Chapter 14, along with a second Prototype Jack, as part of Waya Hime's army, when she attempts to ambush Bravoman and Jin Kazama.
Tekken Tag Tournament 2
Prototype Jack appeared as a playable character in Tekken Tag Tournament 2, sporting the same look it received in Tekken 2 and the original Tekken Tag Tournament. Its fighting style is very similar to Jack-6's, although it has a slightly different moveset, making use of its rotating hand and torso.
Profile: The first incarnation of the JACK series, developed by Russian engineers. Hoping to be upgraded along with his fellow JACK units, P. Jack had Dr. Bosconovitch add rotating arms and torso, as well as flight capabilities, to his frame. He is generally well-balanced in all regards, but his strength exceeds previously developed JACK units. He runs on gasoline.[6]
Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Prototype Jack Ending
Ending Description: An enormous Prototype Jack is being built in a construction lab by many regular Prototype Jacks. A regular Prototype Jack walks toward to the large robot and stares at it. The body of the robot under construction opens and steps descend from its torso. P. Jack enters into the stomach of the robot and sits down at a control panel. It activates the robot and prepares to launch with a countdown while the other Prototype Jacks leave the perimeter. Just as the giant P. Jack launches, a regular Prototype Jack rushes back into frame holding up a large screw. It desperately waving to the pilot in an attempt to get iy to abort the (incomplete) giant P. Jack's launch. The pilot, however, misinterprets the worker's actions as a simple good-bye wave, and does a thumbs up. The Prototype Jacks on the ground are left to watch helplessly as the giant P. Jack launches, rising high into the air before exploding, after which three screws fall back into the hangar.
Gameplay
All Jack robots embody the huge, slow and powerful fighter archetype: they need only a few solid hits to destroy an opponent, but they're very slow and their limited moveset can be predictable, so they require good timing to play well. Jacks deal good damage and possess good pokes and throws, but their real advantage comes from the long range of many of their attacks - most of their punishers are able to hit from afar.
In Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Prototype Jack returned with its moveset changed to be more similar to Jack-6's. There are some differences between the two - Prototype Jack utilizes its spinning limb related moves, while Jack-6 possesses extendable arms - but their core gameplay is essentially the same. Prototype Jack also has moves used by previous Jack models that Jack-6 no longer has.
Fighting Style
While other characters utilize Martial Arts, what Jack robots do is best described as "using brute force to annihilate the opponent", and their fighting style is listed as "Brute Force" accordingly. Prototype Jack is no exception.

Character Relationships
Dr. Bosconovitch - Its original creator and also its remodeler in Tekken 2.
The Jack series - P. Jacks more advanced successors and rivals whom it hates. Defeated by Jack and possibly destroyed by Jack-2.
Kazuya Mishima - Ordered Dr. Bosconovitch to remodel it for Tekken 2.
Heihachi Mishima - Entered P. Jack to fight the main Jack in the first tournament, either for Heihachi's own amusement or as defense against the perceived threat of Jack - although Jack's true target was Kazuya, not Heihachi. It is unclear how Heihachi managed to steal P. Jack from the Russians.
Trivia
General:
Prototype Jack is the only Jack model that doesn't have plutonium blood; instead, it has gasoline in its 'veins'.
P. Jack is also the only Jack robot that has competed in more than one canonical tournament in the Tekken universe, although there is a large difference between its appearance in Tekken and Tekken 2.
Unlike the other earlier Jack models, Prototype Jack is fitted with a rocket booster built into its leg. P. Jack's internal support system can provide up to three "detonations" to the booster.
P. Jack's arm and body are somewhat "loose", as it can spin its hand freely without limitation. This trait has remained unchanged since the first game, when a drill was present in place of its right hand.
Tekken 2
If P.Jack loses a final round in Tekken 2 due to Time Up, it will faint on the continue screen in the same manner as a losing character on Time Up in the original Tekken. This animation also occurs in Tekken Tag Tournament even without a Time Up, and is also used by Roger and Alex in both games.
Tekken Tag Tournament
As of Tekken Tag Tournament, it is shown that P. Jack's left hand and torso can also rotate, as seen in its moves Drill Upper and Tornado Cutter. Gun Jack also retained the spinning hand mechanism when performing the Ground Zero throw; however later models, such as Jack-5, do not have a spinning hand during this move.
Tekken Tag Tournament 2
If Prototype Jack is idle for about six seconds, it will shut down and reboot itself.
Prototype Jack's Tekken Tag Tournament 2 ending is a re-imagining of its Tekken 2 ending.
Prototype Jack, along with Jack-2, Gun Jack, Jaack-4, and Jack-6 are the only Jack robots to appear in more than one game.
Prototype Jack's Item Move has it grab the opponent with a crane and uses it to spin them around before launching them away. This can also be used against mid-air opponents.

Re8 is kind of better than Re4R in my opinion, it has better puzzles ( more puzzles than re4 ) , not as action oriented, kind of scarier , better graphics even though it came before it , the only problem re8 got that unfortunately makes re4r better than it at the grand scheme of things , is the plot.
Capcom aren’t know for their amazing plots but they aren’t bad generally, they deliver some good plot for a horror game , it keeps you engaged, without any plot holes ( it’s an action game , you gotta kiss some logics goodbye same thing as in action movies) (p:s haven’t played re6 yet or re 5 , have played re3r , re2r , re1 , re7 , re8 , revelation 1&2)
Resident evil 8 plot has some plot holes that can’t be ignored, main problem is in Chris Redfield himself, it made no sense that Chris couldn’t see mother Miranda not dying with a few bullets , like he saw Wesker get barbecued, yet still live , he has fought a tyrant as I know in CV but he’s shocked that mother Miranda didn’t die immediately? 30 something years of experience people 30 yrs of seeing things not die immediately as they should plus what kind of shit ass protection is the BSAA got for not being able to protect Ethan , you’re telling me these are the best of the best ? , Chris not telling Ethan that Mia isn’t Mia was kind of given a reason , while chris was talking to one of his team members, he says that he didn’t want mother Miranda to know his plans , fearing she was eavesdropping somehow , then that gets erased as in the last chris cameo when his team tells him why he didn’t tell Ethan he goes , I should have told him….? you actually gave a good reason in the beginning that should have been explained more but go off I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️ . Capcom is really sitting here telling me that Chris couldn’t carry scrawny Ethan on his shoulder like a potato sack and run , that man is built like a machine , he punches boulders in re5 , Capcom should have kept the 3 way fight ( Chris vs werewolves vs BSAA zombie soldiers) have him get some injury to make it more believable that he couldn’t carry Ethan to safety , ( they can’t get the helicopter near Ethan’s location cause of the trees as we see the trees attacking the other BSAA helicopters so that idea is crossed off ) the other alpha team members, idk they were protecting the copter as it’s their only way of getting out but they couldn’t spare one member !? To come aid Chris , as we don’t see him fighting anyone on the way back so most enemies were gone , one carries baby rose while Chris carries Ethan boom problem solved . It felt like Capcom wanted to kill Ethan so bad , they didn’t care to make it believable , it was sad and emotional but not believable. It didn’t make sense. So it ruins the experience for me
It would have been way better if another BSAA member attacked and kidnapped the winters family , lying and saying it was Chris’s orders to relocate them to a temporary safe location ( putting the shock factor of WTH Chris ) while Chris was hooked up in another assignment that he couldn’t postpone or put on the side , only finding out after coming back to check on the winters family , and seeing the house in a ruin , this way explaining why Chris kinda felt late in re8 , Ethan was to be killed but lives due to the fungus or escapes , mia and rose are taken to mother Miranda, later on revealing that BSAA or some other organization agreed to helping Miranda or worked with her and they were the ones that sent the soldiers and they lied and used Chris’s name in order to gain the winter’s family trust to go with them.
My baby boy Chris doesn’t deserve the hate he’s getting from the newer fans who played re8 first/only

Why Capcom should sell the MegaMan rights to Sega and How Sega should reboot and reimagine MegaMan
There are several reasons why Capcom should consider selling the MegaMan rights to Sega: 1. Revitalizing the franchise: Sega has a strong track record of successfully revitalizing classic franchises, such as Sonic the Hedgehog. By acquiring the MegaMan rights, Sega can bring fresh ideas and innovative gameplay mechanics to breathe new life into the series. This would attract both old and new fans, ensuring the longevity and relevance of MegaMan in the gaming industry. 2. Expertise in platformers: Sega has extensive experience in developing platformer games, which is the genre MegaMan primarily belongs to. With iconic titles like Sonic the Hedgehog and Alex Kidd, Sega has proven its ability to create engaging and enjoyable platforming experiences. This expertise can be leveraged to create high-quality MegaMan games that stay true to the franchise's roots while introducing exciting new gameplay elements. 3. Collaborative opportunities: Sega's strong relationships with other developers and publishers could open up collaborative opportunities for MegaMan. Sega has a history of successful partnerships, such as the Sonic and Mario crossover games with Nintendo. By collaborating with other popular characters or franchises, MegaMan can reach a wider audience and generate even more interest and excitement among gamers. 4. Global reach and marketing prowess: Sega has a global presence and a well-established marketing infrastructure. By acquiring the MegaMan rights, Sega can leverage its marketing expertise to promote the franchise effectively worldwide. This would ensure maximum exposure and awareness for MegaMan, leading to increased sales and a larger fanbase. 5. A fresh perspective: Capcom has been the sole custodian of the MegaMan franchise for many years. By selling the rights to Sega, the franchise can benefit from a fresh perspective and new creative direction. Sega's different approach to game development can inject new ideas into MegaMan, resulting in unique and exciting experiences for players. Overall, selling the MegaMan rights to Sega would not only benefit Capcom financially but also ensure the franchise's continued success and relevance in the gaming industry. Sega's expertise in platformers, collaborative opportunities, global reach, marketing prowess, and fresh perspective make them an ideal candidate to take the MegaMan franchise to new heights.
Sega has a rich history of creating iconic and beloved video game franchises, and if they were to reboot and reimagine MegaMan, they could bring a fresh perspective to the series. Here are a few ideas on how Sega could approach this task:
1. Visual Overhaul: One of the first things Sega could do is give MegaMan a visual makeover. They could adopt a more modern and detailed art style, while still paying homage to the classic design of the character. This would help to attract new players while also appealing to long-time fans. 2. Expanded Storytelling: Sega could take advantage of their expertise in storytelling and create a more intricate and engaging narrative for MegaMan. They could explore the origins of MegaMan and his creator, Dr. Light, in greater depth, adding layers of complexity to the characters and their relationships. Additionally, they could introduce new villains and allies, providing a fresh and exciting twist to the storyline. 3. Enhanced Gameplay Mechanics: Sega could introduce new gameplay mechanics that would add depth and variety to the MegaMan experience. They could incorporate elements from other successful Sega franchises, such as Sonic the Hedgehog's speed and platforming mechanics or the strategic combat of the Valkyria Chronicles series. This would not only make the gameplay more engaging but also differentiate the rebooted MegaMan from its predecessors. 4. Open-World Exploration: Sega could reimagine MegaMan as an open-world game, allowing players to freely explore a vast and interconnected world. This would provide a sense of adventure and discovery, as players could uncover hidden areas, complete side quests, and encounter unique challenges. The open-world format would also allow for a more immersive and dynamic gameplay experience. 5. Multiplayer and Online Features: Sega could introduce multiplayer and online features to the rebooted MegaMan. They could include co-op gameplay, where players can team up with friends to take on challenging missions or compete in online leaderboards to showcase their skills. This would add a social aspect to the game and extend its longevity. 6. Cross-Platform Compatibility: To maximize the reach and accessibility of the rebooted MegaMan, Sega could ensure cross-platform compatibility. This would allow players to enjoy the game on various platforms, such as consoles, PCs, and mobile devices, enabling a larger player base and fostering a vibrant community. Overall, Sega has the potential to breathe new life into the MegaMan franchise by rebooting and reimagining it with their unique approach. By combining stunning visuals, compelling storytelling, innovative gameplay mechanics, and multiplayer features, Sega could create a MegaMan experience that captivates both old and new fans alike.
