Tumblr keeps trying to stop this from getting posted, but yes. QuackerJack would definitely do this face with a thumbs up, and Chaz having the same VA makes this a little layered. 😆

Rugrats Headcanons 1
Got inspired to write these after both re-watching the series [the adults are hilarious] and the throwaway line in ‘Chip And Dale Rescue Rangers’ Movie about the rugrats. Beginning of a series.
Please enjoy:
1. The Rugrats consider each other a big family. Being toons they were all created at the same time and with the fact that in-universe the Pickles are brothers and the rest of the adults have known each other for at least a decade  [With the exception of the Deville’s who were introduced as the next door neighbours] they are all very close.
2. Chaz and Stu are practically brothers and - as shown in the show - are round each others houses all the time. Drew gets a bit jealous of this because the Chaz and Stu have a better bond than he and Stu do.
Over the years, as they’ve bonded more away from the set, they’ve gotten closer now and although they still bicker it’s more friendly now and without venom.
3. Now, in 2022, the kids spent most of the time in there ‘All Grown Up’ designs. This is because they’ve discovered they tend to get treated better in these designs. It’s the same for most Toons who are modelled after children, they get treated...well. Like children. Works when they are the ages they’re modelled after, when they get beyond that however...it’s difficult.
I should point out that despite technically being the same age as their parents that makes no difference and the kids fully accept that their parents are the ones to set the rules and look after them ext, ext. That doesn’t stop them pushing back at times of course - especially when they hit teenage years - but in general it works.
I’m planning to do another of these about the rugrats parents.

New Rugrats theory/headcanon about Chuckie and his dad
Tumblr media
So I thought of this back in October and I know it's just a cartoon but it does make sense. Does anyone else remember that OG "Rugrats" episode "Chuckie's Wonderful Life"? It's the episode where Angelica steals Chuckie's dad Chaz's favourite CD just because she can but Chuckie blames himself for it and wishes he weren't born (and this is a two year old we're talking about!) and so he dreams that a guardian angel version of himself shows him what the lives of his friends and his dad would be like if he didn't exist and it's horrifying. But about that CD: It's specifically mentioned that it's a CD of Latvian folk dances, and when Angelica's dad Drew returns it to Chaz, he even says that Chaz is the only person he knows who listens to that kind of music. And later on in "All Grown Up!", when Chuckie decides to present himself to his crush Nicole as an alter-ego because he's too awkward and unnoticed by her otherwise, he specifically chooses that alter-ego to be a Latvian boy named Chongo.
But what I'm getting at is — as rarely as it's brought up in either "Rugrats" or "All Grown Up!", why is it that Chuckie and Chaz are so focused on Latvia in particular? My theory — and it's very realistic — is that it's all in their family name. As any "Rugrats" fan knows, Chuckie's family name is Finster. Most people who aren't familiar with this would wonder what a German name has to do with Latvia. My theory/headcanon is that Chuckie and Chaz are of (partial or predominantly) Baltic German descent, specifically from Latvia. From medieval times to up until around 1939, there was a thriving German community in the Baltic region, including in the lands that are now Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania (parts of which make up the historical regions of Courland and Livonia). Some of these people spoke German and/or the Low German dialects, depending on which part of Germany they or their own ancestors came from (mostly from northern Germany), but they also would have had varying levels of knowledge and assimilation into the native languages and cultures (Latvian and Lithuanian are Baltic Indo-European languages while Estonian and the extinct but recently revived Livonian are both Finno-Ugric languages). In-universe, generations of the Finster family ancestors probably lived in Latvia for centuries before emigrating to America at some point (I've also heard somewhere that the family has Irish ancestry on one side).
Despite Chuckie and Chaz obviously being fictional cartoon characters, it's really interesting and fun to use knowledge of real-life history and human migrations to explain the possible ancestry of even them. And yes, I do remember there was a whole "All Grown Up!" episode about Chuckie's stepsister Kimi learning about her Japanese heritage. Hope this was informative and made you think a little!

Remember that "Rise of the Ninja Rugrats" idea I had? Well, I decided to draw up the parents of the Deville/Onoyama and the Finsters/McDorchas kids.
So, from the left, we have: BEATRICE 'BETTY' ONOYAMA (nee Deville): Phil and Lil's mother. Like her canon counterpart, she is a streetwise, take-charge tomboy of a woman. Though this version is also an odd mix of an overprotective and laidback parent. She often allows whatever shenanigan the babies find themselves up to, but fists will fly if as much as a hair on either of her babies' heads is singed. HARUMITSU 'HARRY' ONOYAMA: Phil and Lil's father. He's pretty much the exact opposite of Harold in terms of personality. While still soft-spoken, he is a rather stern and no-nonsense man who is more skeptical and meticulous, as opposed to his wife's more hands-off approach to parenting. He is very protective of his children, especially Lil. CHARLES 'CHAS' McDORCHAS: Chuckie's (widowed) single father and owner of a small coffee shop. While not as timid as his canon counterpart, he is still a good-natured, if rather soft-spoken man and a very affectionate father. His bond with Chuckie is very close, even to the point that they seem to completely understand each other. And that's it!
