Hayden: Go, I'll make calls for him, cancel todays and tomorrow's stuff with Thomas. I'll call River's mom and Flynn so they can take the shelter. -he had to admit he was worried, but there wasn't much he could do.- I'll get our dads, and if you need our help, just call okay?
He knew it would take some persuasion for Flynn not to come to check on them, but hopefully he would take on the shelter alongside Arlene for the day. By the sound of it, he doubted River would make it in with what little he had been told, and how he knew River to be as well. He pulled on his own robes as Vy headed through the house, as he slowly made his way to where he would assume he found his parents.
Hayle: Shouldn't you be asleep? Hayden: I should.. but.. -he told them what Vy had told him, which had his dads look between them for a bit.-
Hayle: I'll help at the shelter today then. -he wrapped an arm around his son- And Vy will just have to tell us what he needs us to help with if there is anything we can do.
Hayden looked at Chris who just smiled at him. He could feel Lucas still alive, although he could sense just how little energy the sundragon had left. As he wasn't his own family's reaper, he actively needed to check on them, and it was mostly Hayden he kept "tabs" on these days.

“No she doesn’t. I’m not her family reaper,” Chris said “we do have her address. If you want Hayle or I to come with you all you have to do is ask.”
“We’ll keep that in mind,” Jayden said, “but I will take the contact information of River’s therapist.”
“I have their business card,” Hayle said “would you like to stay for supper?” he asked as he got up to get the card.
“We better,” Evan said “Josie has been wanting to come over for a while now. We may not be able to get her to leave.”
“She’s welcome to stay the night,” Chris offered.

Searching for a new vibe
Hey peeps! I’m Chris and I’ve been around these boards for a bit. A lot of my more long term partners have gone on hiatus so I’m searching for some new writing lines. Some quick hits: -I’m 30. Please be 21+ -Happily married with two animals we call our own. Not looking for drama and definitely not one of the creepers that give male roleplayers a bad name (of course, that’s what a creeper would say but have a little faith). Looking for someone I can pal with and really enjoy a story we create. -Prefer to write over Email and chat over Gchat or Discord, primarily. -Limits are pretty standard: No pedophilia, rape, or toilet stuff. -I mostly play the M in M/F lines but do have one F/F line that I'll mention -I'm a novella style writing, very literate, and pretty consistent. I'm starting a new job but I don't think it'll impact my writing *too* much. Contact: [email protected] and Discord at NurseBatman#3674 *Fandoms* -Doctor Who: I'd love to either play the 12th Doctor against Clara or River or write Jack against 13. Up for any variety of plots here. -DC: I have a few I'm looking for here. I'd love a Wonderbat line, but not the traditional pairing and romance between Diana and Bruce even if they are utterly OTP. Alternatively, I'd love to take a stab at the recent Future State line that just came out and pair Luke Fox with Yara Flor. Since they're both still young characters, we could take some liberties. Alternatively, I'd happily write Bruce Wayne against a Selina Kyle. -Marvel: Really only searching for someone interested in writing Elektra Natchios against my Matt Murdock. Their relationship in the Netflix series was incredible and the current run with Elektra posing as Daredevil with her big, epic hair makes me want to write them bad. -The Last of Us, part 2: Searching for someone to write Abby Anderson against my original character in a sort of alternate spin on the game's ending that's a bit less, you know, torture porn. -Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Searching to write an original line with someone taking the reins of a slayer from the past with my two big interests focusing on the American Old West and the 1970s. Lots and lots of ideas for this one. -Constantine: Writing John Constantine is one of my favorites and I have a few lines with him. I'd still love to find someone interested in writing either Lara Croft (she finds a cursed object and brings it to England's most infamous demonologist, chaos ensues) or Marvel's Misty Knight (I have a great idea on how to open this, think demonic Assault on Precinct 13) against him. Dead Like Me: An oldie but a goodie. An original group of grim reapers for some slice of afterlife good times. Crossover Fandoms: -Indiana Jones: These are both random but I'm going to shoot my shot: I really want to either write Indie against Lara Croft (in his time period) for some Nazi killing adventures or....against Diana Prince herself. *Original lines* 1970s Horror: A group of post high school teens in the mid seventies decide to leave their little town behind and head west to California in a VW Bus, a summer for classic rock and drugs but along the way, they anger some sort of dark entity that begins following them. This can be a mix of demonic horror, small town weirdness, and Americana. Political Intrigue: A young, southern congressman with a family man image begins planning to make the jump to the senate from the house and hires a hotshot young woman to be his new campaign manager. Long nights on the road, a fragile marriage, and chemistry lead to him carrying on an affair with the woman that has become his secret weapon. I could see this line going all the way to the white house, possibly getting rid of his wife along the way or maybe even polyamory? Lots of power dynamic and potential with this. The soldiers that failed: Basically, a typical zombie with a spin. A paramilitary group that will make our cast were called in to contain the initial outbreak but things got out of hand because of X. Now, a few years later, they roam the wasteland of the country, trying to redeem themselves as some of the most capable survivors around. On the Lighted Stage: Anyone ever see HBO's Crashing? I'd love to do something with struggling stand up comics in NY trying to work their way into the business, clawing their way up. This line feels particularly challenging since we're actually trying to create material. Vampire power couple: In a world where families of supernatural creatures rule behind the scenes, a pair of undead shitkickers that were wildly in love for hundreds of years ruled with an iron fist for just as long. Eventually, their enemies separated them (I have some ideas) and we would begin at them getting reunited and planning a warpath of revenge. My male lead is planned to be a few hundred years old so there could be a lot of potential for flashbacks. A town called Wisdom: My one F/F mostly because I loved True Detective but always wanted to see a female led season. I'm envisioning a brutal double murder that brings a state homicide detective to town and I was looking for someone to write the small town sheriff/officer that she gets paired with. Lots of small town weirdness and the pair growing closer and closer as they get deeper into an investigation that won't stop getting more and more dangerous. The Fight Life: I am a massive, massive fan of MMA. It's just a weird little unique fandom all it's own. I've always wanted a line that focuses on the sport. Searching for someone to write a young and upcoming female fighter that sort of gets her big break. I have a decent sized supporting cast planned and need our leading lady That's it. I know it was a lot but I've been lacking in partners lately and really wanted to post an eclectic selection. Hope to hear from someone!
PS: If you ever wrote with a South African writer named Olive, please hit me up!

Songs for Halloween Parties
Halloween parties offer the most wide open subject possibilities of any type of celebration. Halloween is the one day of the year that lets you be any living thing or dead thing, any occupation, any human or non-human and any personality type. You can be a cartoon character if you like. Since Halloween can go hundreds of different directions, the playlist will likely be a diverse list of novelty songs. Barry Keoghan Can Do It All
Barry Keoghan returns from the bathroom of a “members only” club on the Lower East Side in New York City and plops down a handful of Dubble Bubble in front of me and his girlfriend, Shona Guerin. “Here’s some gum,” the 25-year-old Irishman says. I grab one—not because I necessarily want any, but because Keoghan seems to be presenting the Dubble Bubble as some kind of ice breaker, and it’d be rude not to join in. But as I start to untwist the wrapper, he quickly interjects: “The question is, do you trust me?”
It’s a pretty fucked up thing to say, considering Keoghan knows I’ve just seen The Killing of a Sacred Deer. In the film, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos (The Lobster, Dogtooth) and costarring Colin Farrell and Nicole Kidman, Keoghan plays a teenage boy named Martin who forces the surgeon who accidentally killed his father (Farrell) to make a dreadful compromise: sacrifice an immediate family member, or else watch each of them go paralyzed, bleed from their eyes, and then slowly die. How Martin is able to set off this agonizing chain of events is never explained; Keoghan plays him with an eerie matter-of-factness, blankly reciting the horrific rules to Farrell’s Steven Murphy like they’re lines from a book report. He uses a similar intonation to suggest that he’s poisoned the Dubble Bubble, clearly relishing the layer of wickedness that starring in Sacred Deer has added to his bright-eyed, innocent-seeming persona.
I put the gum down on the table.
Keoghan has had a remarkable few months: Before Sacred Deer, he played George, a naive, pure-hearted teen in a sweater vest, in Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster World War II epic Dunkirk. It was a small role with a basic function and only a handful of lines, but Keoghan managed to capture a sense of idealism in the character—to the point that his sudden death is genuinely and tragically sad. “I always said, I want to work with good indie filmmakers, and if a blockbuster comes up and the filmmaker is great, I’ll do that,” Keoghan says. “And then I get the best of all that! It’s Chris Nolan! The best director who also makes big films.”
Still, Keoghan’s performance in Dunkirk hardly compares to his turn as the Sacred Deer’s grim reaper in blue jeans and a backpack. Sacred Deer is a movie about responsibility, consequences, and comeuppance, and Keoghan’s Martin is the center of gravity around which all of those themes revolve. Lanthimos, as always when it comes to his films, is the one who crafted the seemingly alternate, near-human universe of Sacred Deer—at once sick and sickly humorous—but Keoghan is his mouthpiece, morphing from a simple, sympathetic kid into a merciless but magnetic exactor of justice over the course of two hours. “His face, his physicality, his whole presence,” Lanthimos tells me, when I ask why he decided to cast Keoghan. “He’s just an interesting human being to watch. It would’ve been easy to create this one-dimensional evil kid, but his mere presence conveys many different things at the same time.”
“To get to play those two roles within the space of a few months, to show my range, that’s a dream,” Keoghan says. “I want people to go, ‘Fuck, that’s him? He’s completely different.’”
Keoghan was born in one of the grittier neighborhoods of Dublin, Ireland. He’s from the north side of the River Liffey, which bisects the city and acts as a socioeconomic dividing line between the underprivileged north and the more affluent south. His mother, who was addicted to heroin, died when he was 5 years old, and he was sent to live in foster care. It’s the only segment of Keoghan’s life he won’t talk about; when I ask him about his childhood he responds, “You’ve probably done your research, haven’t you?” as if to say, “The information’s out there, so let’s move on.” When he was 11, his grandmother took him in. He’s more than happy to tell stories from his adolescence, painting a picture of himself to be just as sneakily sinister as some of the characters he’s played. He got kicked out of his all-boys high school because “they weren’t having my games anymore. The last thing I done was, I threw a coin and it hit a teacher in the head. That was the last straw for them.” He tells the story bashfully, staring down at his feet and suppressing a smile.
It was around that time that Keoghan started acting. “I seen this note in a window that said this small Irish movie Between the Canals, they were looking for actors.” Keoghan, who had never acted before, saw an opportunity. “I took the number down on the sly, because I knew that my friends would take the piss out of me, and I rang it when I went home.”
“Acting? I don’t know—I just see money,” Keoghan says when I ask what made him audition for the movie, an admission that feels honest and understandable. Actors are especially known for treating their profession like a craft they were drawn to by Dionysus himself; to hear one flatly admit that it’s a job is both jarring and refreshing. For much of the beginning of his career, Keoghan played characters similar to the side role he landed in Between the Canals: troubled kids from the streets. In 2013, he appeared in six episodes of the fourth season of Love/Hate, an Irish television series about Dublin’s criminal underbelly; he played a homeless youth in 2016’s Mammal. They weren’t splashy parts (Mammal screened at Sundance), but they were enough to get Keoghan noticed.
As Lanthimos says, Keoghan just has one of those faces. It somehow seems to be in constant flux; one second he looks like a Dior model, the next he looks like if Cillian Murphy got hit with a shovel. Sitting in front of me in a white tee and gray, Superdry sweats, he looks kind, innocent, and young—much younger than 25—but his expression can quickly flip, either because the light hit the scar under his right eye in a funny way or because he wants to tease you about poisoning your food. It’s his greatest weapon, and he knows how to use it.
The Killing of a Sacred Deer is full of disturbingly memorable scenes, but one stands out: About two-thirds through the film, Stephen Murphy’s wife, played by Kidman, confronts Martin in his home and begs him to lift the curse. Martin’s in his boxers and in the middle of eating a plate of spaghetti, which reminds him of a story about his father. As a kid, Martin remembers, he used to marvel at the way his dad ate pasta: so efficient, so brilliant. He demonstrates, twirling some of the pasta around his fork and eating it in one big mouthful. Still chewing, and with sauce covering his face, he continues the story, blankly recalling how devastating it was to grow up and one day realize that the way his father ate pasta is the way everyone eats pasta. The discovery made him feel betrayed, Martin says; as if the man whom he revered so much barely even existed. Meanwhile, Kidman’s character sits across from Martin dumbfounded, realizing how deep the boy’s scars go and perhaps coming to grips with the fact that the person who holds her life and her children’s lives in the balance is a teenager covered in marinara sauce.
It’s an outrageous scene, this kid shoveling spaghetti into his face while spouting an allegory about coming to realize your own insignificance—and Keoghan is unflinching, turning each forkful into a work of art. “You know, sitting in front of Nicole Kidman in your boxers is not an easy thing to do,” Keoghan tells me, hardly interested in talking about his performance or how he’s able to simultaneously capture pain, loss, and bald evil in one fell swoop. “I was just constantly like, ‘Can she see up there?’”
On the day we meet, Keoghan’s particularly giddy because Aaron Paul tweeted about how good he was in Sacred Deer. After six years of toiling away in mostly Irish productions, Keoghan’s performance as Martin has put him in a position where he can not only think about the future of his career, but the next five or 10 years of his life in general. Keoghan says, “It’s all a plan.” When he first signed with his talent agency, WME, this plan was already partially formulated: He had written down a list of directors he wanted to work with. Christopher Nolan and Yorgos Lanthimos were both on it. “I write everything down,” he says. “Directors, movies I want to do, that I want to produce, direct, start my own company, start my own boxing club.” Keoghan takes his roles in Dunkirk and Sacred Deer as proof that the first step to achieving a goal is putting it down on paper (or in his iPhone Notes). “I’m a big fan of the law of attraction,” he proudly states. He won’t show anyone the obsessively curated and growing list, but everything on it can be boiled down to one simple goal: “Have a successful, good career.”
Keoghan seems to know that, at 25, after two prominent roles in the films of two high-profile directors, his plan is coming together. He has two upcoming projects on his slate—an Irish movie starring Hugo Weaving and Jim Broadbent called Black 47, and American Animals, costarring Blake Jenner and Evan Peters—but he wants to ride this momentum even more. “I’m lookin’ for that script,” he says, leaning into the recorder, graveling his voice to sound tougher. “I’m lookin’ for that script!”
His personal life shows a different side of him, one that’s less scrappy and not so firmly tuned to survival mode. You might even call him a romantic. He met his girlfriend, Shona, at a bar she worked in in Kerry. He asked her out on the spot, but not to dinner or anything like that: He suggested they drive out to Dingle, a picturesque peninsula on the west coast of Ireland. “Luckily she had a car. I had no way to get to Dingle,” Keoghan notes. Two weeks later, he returned to Kerry with suitcases. They’ve been living with Shona’s mom since.
“He doesn’t put a lot of thought into things,” Shona tells me, with more admiration than admonishment. “But he’s very caring. He can feel when he’s done something wrong. It hurts him.”
Now Keoghan and Shona want to move to the United States. They don’t know where exactly—he prefers New York City, she prefers L.A.—but the idea of turning ex-pat is thrilling to them. “And we’re looking to get our own dog,” Keoghan adds. “A rescue one. I know it sounds ridiculous, but I just love them, don’t I? They just listen.”
“I have to try to be in the moment,” Keoghan says at the end of our interview. “Because these moments we’ve been having lately are great. Everyone is looking at you, and it’s like, you’re totally in control of everything. It’s something that you need to enjoy.”
I pick up the gum again, and Keoghan’s eyes follow me as I put it in my coat pocket. He says nothing this time. Walking away from the table, I pull out the gum and decide to eat it.

Part two:
For a while, whenever the reaper visited, they would walk like this. At first they mostly made it under the radar somehow. Although he was not quite sure now, perhaps it was the work of his friend to ease him into it, to let him watch them first. To in a way get to know them, see their life, see them.
Chris: What? Hayle: Have you been shrouding us? Chris: Now why would I do that?
Hayle: To make this easier?
The chuckle from his friend told him he had been right, not that he minded it, after all, it was good to walk around and see the town like this. Get a proper view of it and to know what was actually going on.
Chris: Fine, yes we have been shrouded so you could see them, and they could not see you. Not yet, you need to learn to know them first. It wouldn’t be good to show them a god that really knew nothing about them, would it? Hayle: No.. but I know them? Chris: Do you? Hayle: I…
He was interrupted as they stopped close to a small market, so he could hear the talk. About fruit trees, food, their clean crystal water they had that made it all grow.
Hayle: They seem content and happy? Chris: Keep listening.
As they stood there the talk came about winter, how much food would they need when the fields laid bare, and if the stream froze over, what would they do for water. They talked about their children, about outside strife, all things that worried them.
Hayle: But..  they worry about the seasons? Chris: Yes, they worry about their food, they worry about how to survive. It’s natural for humans to worry about these things.
Hayle: So.. what they want of me is to make these things easier? That the river does not freeze up, such things? Chris: Not really, although a free supply of unfrozen water is always something to be glad off, they have found ways, they are simply preparing.
Hayle went quiet as Chris led him to another part of the town, where the least lucky ones lived, orphans, and those that just scraped by. The talk there was different, and he thought it would be good for the young god to see all, the good and the bad.
Hayle: I don’t understand? Chris: Human nature is to make sure you have all you need, then perhaps share, if you see gain. Hayle: But there is enough here to feed everyone equally. Chris: Very true. He smiled, it was good to see this reaction, it told him there was empathy in the still young god.
Chris: But, what would you do, if you feared that giving away your food would maybe have your family starve? Hayle: I don’t have family? Chris: Your brother? Hayle: He will never starve. Chris: Say he was attacked, by another god, and you could help, but doing so put you out there for an attack as well. But you knew together, you might just win, but just maybe. Hayle went quiet as they walked more, he would easily have left his brother to his own, and told him it was none of his business which was in a way what happened here. As Chris bowed and said he had to leave, he found himself alone in the streets, still apparently shrouded by the reaper's magic. He watched kids run by, and people walk past the bench he was sitting on, as his mind went over what they had talked about. Would him showing himself perhaps help. Could he make it better for everyone?

He shook his head as Hayden stopped talking and just closed his eyes and drifted back to sleep. It had been a bad week again, but he had managed to talk Vy into heading to school with the promise he would stay.
“Hayden?”
He gently put the wristband on him, giving him a little bit of a painkiller that Hayle had brought back with him from one off his trips home, something his brother had found from a plant in his kingdom, but it was a rare plant, and it didn’t blossom often enough for be used every day. Today though was one of those days where he needed it, which had worried Vy and it had taken almost an hour talk between them to make him go to school. He could see his son relax, and sleep more comfortably, a he put his hand on his forehead. The downside to the medicine was that he tended to spike in temperature, but he had two bags of ice prepared just in case. For now, though, it seemed it wasn’t needed.
“Mrow.” “Yeah, you can guard him too.”
He smiled, both the animals were lying by the bottom off the bed like they normally did when Hayden was “alone”. His mind wandered as he sat there, his eyes following the scars on his son’s body. Their uncle had visited to help when he heard about the attack, alongside Hayle they had managed to strengthen his ice side slightly, while he had been able to calm the fire one. He had asked if this was something they could make permanent, but as Hayle’s brother had explained, it would not be possible. It was a huge strain on his body, as it messed with what was its natural balance, but at the moment they did it, his body was already out of balance, and it stopped some of the internal burns.
He still felt bad about it even happening, he had always thought he would have noticed it if he changed, but it was Rylan that had sensed it before he had. He had even asked his boss about it, who had just shook his head, and mentioned he is not his own family’s reaper. Which of course was a good point, he wasn’t but he was happy the one that was, had given him that chance when he asked even if he had sometimes doubted that decision later.
“Dad?” “Mmm?” “What time is it?” “Hmh, around two in the afternoon, why?” “Just felt like I have been asleep for a while.” “Waiting for Vy to come home?” “Yeah, we have a new book were reading together.”
Chris smiled, it was one of few things he knew his son enjoyed doing. It was something they did together, and it was easy for him to keep up with. Even with bad weeks like this, they were able to read a little, and then just talk about it afterwards.
“Are you ready for the weekend you think?” “Rylan said we could have the session in here if needed, so I would like to hope so.” “Yes, it should work, have you talked about food?” “Oh yeah, we decided home made.”
Chris chuckled, as he had the last year almost never been told to go get food for them anymore, which he didn’t really mind, he had to admit and agree with them that the homemade food was much better.
“What homemade?” “Ehm… Pizza and taco I think we ended on, dad said he would make a list and go shopping with you when he came back.” “Sounds good to me, Pizza will be handy to have if you end up playing late, which I know your normally do.” “Yup! And it’s nice to eat cold, can’t say the same for Taco.”
Hayden looked at his dad for a bit, it was nice to have this time alone with him, even as a child they often had more time with Hayle for obvious reasons.
“The woman, is she like you?”
Chris looked at his son, at first not quite grasping what he was talking about, but then it dawned on him.
“Yes, she is like me.” “So she is…?” “Yes.” “She is nice though.” “She is, trained by Nat just like I was. Fairly new too.” “I always wondered this, how does a reaper get attached to a family?” “Well, it is a complicated process most of the time, and simpler other times. Our reaper, which of course can’t be me, was one that was new, and as you were born, she was assigned to be our reaper. For older families, it can be a rotation, to stop the reaper from getting attached, and other times they stick by a family for as long as that family exists..” “Do you have a rotation, or do you stick with families.”
He looked at his son, quite enjoying their talk. He remembered they had asked when they were younger, but they never had the time or the patience to listen to it.
“I have families, and then I help with accidents and unforeseen events.” “Do you have River’s family?” “Yes, which is why he felt so uncomfortable around me, we met before, but he only vaguely remembers it.” “Does Rylan know?” “No, he never asked, but I think he suspects it.” “But… when River comes back, and if he holds his promise, will you stay their reaper?” “I am not sure, the norm would be to change family so I assume it might go that way.”
He noticed his son looking at him, and he could guess what he had on his mind.
“Yes, you would have gotten the question” “Would you have said yes, if you know what you know now, and how it is?” “Hmh, I ‘m honestly not sure, I don’t regret the saying yes now with all I have in my life, but if I was with nothing, then I would be more torn. It is a hard job, and it takes, as you know, take a lot of time, which is fine when you are alone, but gets more complicated when you have a family.” “Did you every regret it, I mean… the bachelor and having a family?” “Nah, I only regret not having as much time with you as I want to.”
They talked for a while longer, until they heard steps outside the door, and then a light knock, followed by Vy’s head sticking inside.
“Come on in Vy.” “Okay!”
Chris pulled back, leaving the two to their talk and their book, having told Vy he had given him some of the painkiller, so that he was aware Hayden would probably get a bit worse when it wore off later.
“Did you have a good day Hay hay?” “Yeah, how was yours.” “Meh, school is time without you, bad times!” “They still pestering you?” “Nothing to bother with Hay hay.”
Hayden sighed, wishing he was strong enough to go with him and give them all a piece off his mind, but he had a different idea he had to talk to both his parents about. One that would give Vy more means to go do to school and go on trips and such.
“Want to read Hay hay?” “Yeah, let’s read.”
He felt Vy’s arm around him as he pulled him to rest on his chest, picking up the book they were currently reading continuing where they had left off the day before. A couple of hours later when Chris checked in on them, Hayden was sleeping, while Vy was doing his homework smiling at him when he looked in on them.
“Hungry Vy?” “Yes!” “What should I get you?” “Ehm, do we have any more of those cinnamon buns?” “I believe so, I’ll check and come back.” “Thank you mister Chris!”
He chuckled, wondering if one day, Vy would stop calling him mister as he walked down to the kitchen to check on certain baked goods, hoping to have some time to talk to Rylan a bit when he came home.

Emil flew back to the dorm, entering through the balcony, where a kid had been smoking something that did not smell like tobacco but reminded Emil of Goldilocks. The kid jumped back startled.
Emil: You should not smoke goldilocks if you're a human and below the age of memory consolidation, they can ruin your neurons. Kid: My what and what and age of what?!
Emil shook their head and walked in and back into Flynn's room. They grabbed the tea kettle and decided to start with what River had told them. Getting from the shared kitchen camomile tea and brewing some tea, and setting the cookies they had snatched on a pretty plastic plate. They set both over Flynn's desk and waited calmly for them to come back, so they could assure him his family was all safe.
Flynn entered the dorm, recognizing the smell, shaking his head slightly as he passed someone sitting looking very perplexed at their joint. Maybe they had a bit too much? Opening the door to his and Fannars room, he for the shortest second thought he saw Fan there, but he very quickly realized it was Emil who was there.
Flynn: What is all this?
He motioned to what his nose told him was tea, and the cookies were clearly from home, he would recognize them anywhere. His eyes met Emil's, giving him a tired smile.
Flynn: I think the test went well, the not math part probably better, but thanks to your tutoring I think I did okay there too. -he sat down on his bed, close enough to his desk to reach both cookies and tea.- How was everyone? Emil: Your father suggested tea would help. I took some of your grandfather's cookies.
They explained to Flynn and watched him sit down. They handed Flynn the cup of tea and sat on the bed watching them, listening to them talk.
Emil: I think you'll do well on the math. You're improving. Not perfect, but passable, I'd say. I have faith in your capabilities so I know you'll do well. -They assured them- The red dragon is working, I found the children at school. Hayden was at home working on his pda, the desk one. I spoke with your grandfather, Hayle, he 'gave' me the cookies and also spoke with your father.
And they played with their vest.
Emil: I only failed to check on the Reaper, but I believe he doesn't need to worry about hunters. He can one-touch kill them. How are you feeling? Flynn: Oh yeah, Grandpa Chris I don't worry much about, he is safe by already in a way being dead.

Hayle: Hey Emil - he looked at the tiny familiar.- come on in, I guess you're looking for someone?
He held the door open so he could fly in if he wanted to. His husband was at work, as was Vy, while Hayden was in his room working on shelter things while the kids were in school. Emil had done quite the travel. First, they had made sure Flynn had indeed gone to his class, watching from the window as the boy for his test. Then took a detour through the kid's schools. Watching as both Eltanin and Arlene had stayed out of gym class as their current conditions made the class difficult for them. Then went through the hospital, finding Vy doing an appointment, who felt them immediately and growled in warning to them. Emil flew away and now headed home. They were yet to check on the other four and pets. They had seen Hayden through the window on their computer. Once they saw the open door they came in.
Hayle: Flynn has his first big test today right?
The familiar took humanoid form, landing down and stretching, feeling quite stiff. The shift between dragon, human and familiar form was becoming easier the more they used it, but it was no less painful. They looked at Hayle.
Emil: Yes. They were quite stressed and... they panicked. They were scared about all of you... I didn't know how to help, so I promised to check on the family. Make sure you are all alright. I am yet to check on the older mage and the reaper... -they looked around trying to see if they could spot Chris around- It was the only way I know how to help... Hayle: Chris is at work, so he is fine. -he smiles at Emil, motioning for him to come inside.-  River is at the shelter and I was just finishing making some cookies for the kids when they come home.
He went over to the oven to take out the first tray and then set in the second. It was calming for him to bake as well when everyone was out and about and he was home alone.
Hayle: Scared for all of us? -he looked at Emil- Nightmares?
He guessed, since he knew both Eltanin and Arlene struggled with them as well, it was only natural to assume the same would be true for Flynn, even if he perhaps hid it a lot better. Emil nodded and sighed, following Hayle and watching as he placed the second batch of cookies. With curiosity, they stared at a cookie, and once Hayle turned his back on them they pocketed a few to take for Flynn.

Arlene: So after about a year of me telling him things over and over, and I think he had a talk with my Grampa Chris, to be honest, he told me he wasn’t sure what he felt, if it was caring for a child he had watched grow up, or if it was something more, so so we gave it some more time, and I never pushed him.
Hayle: And then? Arlene: He went away for work for a while, not as he can always be around.. - she chuckled, seeing a familiar shake of the head from her grandfather. - Yeah, well it is what it is, but after about a month or so after, he told me he felt the same way. Hayle: Are you sure you want that... I mean, living with a reaper can be hard, lonely at times. -he would know, after all, having lived with Chris for so long - It’s not something that will ever change or stop? Arlene: I know... And I’m sure I will figure things out. I still plan to be a vet, Uncle River has already started making the shelter wheelchair workable, and with the right tools, I can be a vet just like anyone else he says. It's all about adjusting the way you work, work more cleverly and effectively.
Hayle smiled, he knew Arlene was close with River, and that he had been the one to support her in her goal to become a vet after the accident. The shelter had wider doors, and specially designed workstations so that when she would start practicing later, it would be workable for her in her wheelchair. Flynn was her support too, as well as her twin of course, who was a firm believer in their sister being able to do anything.
Hayle: It sounds like you thought this through. Arlene: Yeah... I had to, he kept asking if I thought I would be able to live a life like that when I told him how I felt and he came to the conclusion he felt the same. But I think school, family, and later on a shelter and vet practice of my own will keep me busy, and with a bit of helping hands, I’m sure I can handle him not always being there, I’ll be busy! Hayle: Well, you know I like to keep busy, I’ll just be busy with helping you when we get to that, deal? Arlene: Deal! She smiled, her eyes looking at the water, she would miss swimming, but perhaps there was a way to do that too, if she just put her mind to it.

As everyone packed up to go home, River notices someone standing outside by the grave, at first thinking it might be Flynn, more surprised to see it was Lucas standing there. At first he just watched the boy, before he walked closer.
Lucas: I guess this is silly, but Happy new year to you too. I am sure you're watching over your family somehow, and just so you know, they really are an awesome bunch and I am pretty sure you are proud of them all. -he smiles, putting a hand on the stone.- You would be proud of all of them I think,
He stands back up, just watching the grave for a little while longer. He has to wonder, if it hadn’t been for this tragedy happening, would he ever have met them. He felt like it wouldn’t have, somehow. Feeling a hand on his shoulder, he almost felt like he jumped out of his own skin. River: Awesome bunch huh? Lucas: Yeah, I think so. -looks at River, tilting his head slightly- And I stand by me saying he would be proud of you. River: -smiles softly at Lucas- Thanks, I hope you're right. Now come on, everyone is waiting to go home. Lucas: Okay, let's go home.
He turns his head once as they walk together away from the grave to meet with the others, a smile on his face from River saying they were going home, he knew, he would not spend much time at his house, as long as they would have him, he’d probably stay in that guestroom. Seeing them all wait, and then walking back home together it nailed it down for him, they all truly felt like home, although, one person a little more than the rest. When they were all home, they spread out, Hayden and Vy went to their room, Hayden needing some rest, the kids and Devan all huddled in Flynn’s room for movies until sleep stole them, while River went to the Den, being kept company by Lucas. With all their family at home and to each their own, Hayle found Chris in their living room.
Hayle: Happy new year, mr reaper. Chris: Happy new year Dragonboy.

🖊+ Chris
Tumblr media
(Yes, it is extremely hard to find a pic of Chris without Hayle in it. This is one of my favorites of them both though, so I figured why not.) Chris has through this story become quite a family man. Of course this clashes a bit with him being a reaper, but he does love his family, and both Kieran and Nat do actually help out a lot to let him be at home more with his family when they can. He isn't the one that talks a lot, he often listens without interrupting letting people talk things before he finally chimes in on things.
Unlike his husband he has not read that many books about how to raise children, unknown to him he has a bit of a bonus from being a reaper there as well, as he is naturally in tune with the people around him. He is willing to make sacrifices when their needed, even though what comes from it might hurt. Like when he let Vy and Rylan bring River back to life, he knew it could come with the cost of his life. To him, his family is worth it, and he would do it again if he needed too.

For the 100 OC Questions:
Flynn: 91-100
Fannar: 81-90
Chris: 31-40
Hayle: 51-60
Hayden: 61-70
Vy: 71-80
Lucas: 21-30
River: 41-50
Brooke: 1-10
Meadow: 1-20
A few questions for almost everyone XD
This will be LONG, so under a line.. because LONG!!
Flynn:
91. Do other characters respect your OC, if so, is it out of fear? Or do they respect your OC because they like them?
Some respect him, most do and it's mostly from him being who he is. A friendly guy that's generally nice to everyone. Flynn is simply a very likable fellow.
92. If they were given minutes to live, what would they do? Who would they want to see and say?
The one person Flynn would go to see is his dad, and he'd probably tell him that he loves him and to not take blame for anything that has happened, and to care for the rest of his family. Then he would just hug him until his time was up. His dad is the most important person in the world for Flynn
93. How do they deal with stress?
He tends to go for a run, or talk to someone about what stresses him if he can. Most often this person is Brooke, or later Emil.
94. Do they have a more submissive or dominate personality type?
I think he is a bit of a mix, but like his mom, leaning on the submissive.
95. Do they have a pet?
Atm not really, he has Emil as a familiar, and the family has two pets in Lobo and Felix that he kinda considers his as well without either really being his.
96. Do they have a stash of weapons?
Nope, no stash!
97. Where do they live? Who do they live with?
They live in Brindleton bay with their entire family. It's a lot of people, but he likes that in a way. Even though sometimes some alone time is good too.
98. How do they calm themselves down?
Watching movies, working at the shelter, or just talking to their dad. His dad is his biggest source of calm.
99. Are they co-dependent?
In some ways yes, but also not. He is a very independent person, but he is also used to living very close to family and friends. So he would be a bit lost without them all I think. College should be interesting ;)
100. Are they a day, or night person?
Day person, definitely.
Fannar:
81. Do they have any tattoos? If so, are they significant?
Is it bad that I don't really remember? I don't think I gave them any, but I also have a bad memory.. so maybe, but they're not significant, just something they would have done for fun.
82. Are they good at mental math?
Very, they have that after their dad.
83. Do they get along with others?
Yep, he does, he also has a bit of a tendency to get fans along the way somehow. He doesn't exactly like that part as much though.
84. Are they lazy?
Generally no, but they also can be. They do like to not do anything but slack on occasion ;)
85. Are they self-motivated?
They tend to be more motivated by others, but when needed, they can motivate themselves, so I guess a bit of both?
86. How do they cope with anger?
He isn't a very angry type of person, but when he gets angry he copes fairly well with it. He has always been told being angry is okay, and a valid way to feel.
87. Have they ever been in a situation where they were helpless?
When they saw Emil attacking their mom, and then their twin stepping in and eventually making it his familiar. He felt awfully helpless then and it was not a feeling he liked.
88. Are they organized or messy?
Their fairly organized, better than most teens.
89. Can they remember a lot of information at once?
Yeah, they have a dragon's memory, and they are pretty good at remembering a lot of information at once.
90. What is their occupation?
Currently, they are to be College Student.
Yvreon/Vy:
71. Who do they dislike?
Mages.. hunters.. yeah.. that's their main dislikes.. Death to an extent.. Jael mostly for breaking the Heartlight.
72. What is their motto?
I think to help, and just be helpful in general. Or learn, as much as he can.
73. Do they have any markings on their body?
They have quite a lot of scars, from being attacked by hunters. They also have a heart-shaped scar on their chest, from sharing their heart with their husband Hayden.
74. Have they ever been abused?
Sadly, yes, both by the first humans they encountered, hunters who wanted their heart, and also to an extent the mages at RoM who wanted to experiment on him.
75. What is their biggest fear?
To lose Hayden.
76. What are their goals?
Healing people, helping people. He would love to get his Heartlight back if it was possible so that Hayden would be well, or better. Learning as much as he can, and of course, acquire many shiny things and books!
77. How do they go about achieving their goals?
He works at a hospital, where he helps as many as he can. And the money he earns often go-to books and shiny trinkets as he knows he is well cared for at home money-wise.
78. Do they have a fight or flight response?
Depend's on son the situation. If Hayden or his family is close, he will fight with all his might. If he is alone, it would be flight, to come home and protect those he loves.
79. Is there someone in their life that they care about more than themselves?
Their kids and Hayden.
80. How would they fare in a zombie apocalypse?
Fairly well I think, they are a dragon after all ;)
Hayden:
61. Are they comfortable being in a crowded room?
Yeah, he doesn't really mind. He prefers quiet, but a crowded room doesn't bother him much.
62. How do they relax?
Lying in bed watching movies, preferably using Vy as a bed, as that is the best and most comfortable thing he knows. Oddly helping the kids with math is also relaxing to him.
63. Have they ever harmed anyone and regretted it? Verbally or physically?
The sharing of the Heartlight with Vy, hurts Vy when he feels bad. Or well it did when it was connected. He was never comfortable with that, and it always made him feel bad. Even if Vy told him it was fine.
64. Do they like to dance?
Yes!
65. How do they get around their environment? Examples - horses, bike, vehicle
They have been carried a lot.. other than that, he mostly gets flown by a dragon or uses a portal.
66. What is their pet peeve(s)?
People who mistreat animals, he hates it, and he will call you out on it.
67. Do they have a disability?
Yes, they were born with one. They were born with two magic types that fight each other. Ice and Fire, where the fire side is slightly stronger and was damaging him. He quickly gets tired, and after the loss of his twin, and the breaking of the Heartlight, he has once again gotten worse.
68. How do they react to getting flowers?
He would be surprised, but thankful. He likes flowers but prefers them alive in the ground.
69. Would they ever wear a flower crown?
Yes, especially if made by the kids or given by Vy.
70. Do they like themselves?
Somedays yes, most days.. not really. He tends, still, to feel he is everyone's burden.
Hayle:
51. Do they like science?
Yep, he finds it fascinating!
52. Are they more emotional or logical?
They used to be more logical.. now they're more emotional, and perhaps a mix of both. The mix makes him a very good dad and grandad.
53. How do they deal with their emotions?
Depends on the emotion. Most he talks with Chris about.. Anger on the other hand still gets handled by hitting things, hard. Preferably a boxing bag.
54. How do they cope with sadness?
Often with anger.. by hitting things because being sad makes him angry. But also with talking to his husband, or his family. Sometimes though, destroying an old house into dust is needed.
55. What is something they care about?
His family.
56. Would they die for anyone/anything?
As above.
57. What do they do when they are happy?
Smile a lot, dance with their husband, laugh, and cook!
58. How would they come across to other characters? Examples- messy, lazy, childish, caring, etc.
Caring, very much like a dad friend, that type of person that feels like a dad when you talk with them.
59. Do they have a phrase they use over and over?
Hmh... not really no.
60. In a crowded room are they in the corners, sides, or in the middle?
All of the above depends on the crowd and why they are there.
River:
41. How was their childhood?
Not the best, their dad only saw them as a mage and pushed for him to be the strongest, while his mom kinda tried to make him into his dad after his dad dies. He had an awful relationship with his mother by the time he was a teenager.
42. Are they close with anyone who is going to screw them over?
Nope.
43. How do they adapt to different situations? Do they adapt at all?
It depends a lot on the situation. As a Sage, he adapts to whatever is needed of him. As a Vet, he adapts to what is needed of him there. And for his son, he tries to adapt to being the parents the kid needs.
44. How do they speak? Examples - Are they soft-spoken, hot heated, vulgar, etc.
They have a fairly soft way of speaking, a caring one. But it can also be brunt, harsh and aggravating to many.
45. Are they opposed to violence?
On a general basis.. yes, for occasions, they're fine with it.
46. When is their birthday?
I don't think it has ever been mentioned, I think Mahv will have to say, if not, I guess it is time I give him a date for it!
47. Are they quick to judge?
In general, yes, but he is trying to be better after he misjudged Rylan so badly when they met.
48. Do they have anything they are trying to hide from others?
Mostly how bad they still feel after the death of their husband. How guilty they still feel and so on.
49. Do they act differently around different people?
Yes. He can be loving and caring to some, while asshole to someone else.
50. Do they enjoy the arts?
Yes, especially music.
Chris:
31. How do they overcome obstacles?
By thinking things true, finding the best way past it most of the time. On occasion, he pulls the reaper card though.
32. When faced with a difficult decision do they get stronger or break?
They get stronger. They have a breaking point, but it takes a lot for him to hit it. 15 years away from his family was close to his breaking point, and both Jael and Kieran knew it.
33. Do they have any special powers?
He is a reaper..he has quite a lot. For instance, he is one of very few reapers that can kill a god.
34. How do they change throughout the story?
Well, Chris was a bit of a loner.. so they changed to become someone's lover, a dad, a family man, and someone who often wishes he could be home a lot more than he can.
35. Do they have any friends? If so, are they close-knit?
He has one, Nat, with whom he is very close. Kieran is more the boss than his friend. There is also Mark, who's after him to finding love, they have slipped a bit apart, both having a life outside of work. His best friend is of course his husband.
36. How is their family life?
Busy, especially with his work being on top of it all. But he would not trade it for the world!
37. Are they likable?
Yes, it's a good trait to have when you ferry souls over to the next step.
38. Are they the hero, or anti-hero?
He wouldn't consider himself either, but to some, I guess he is the hero
39. Do they make questionable choices?
Not all too many most were perhaps made before he died 😎
40. How do they become who they are?
They did something questionable and stupid and died. Luckily for them, they also said yes to becoming a reaper and that's why this story even exists.
Lucas:
21. What are their hobbies?
Singing, which is also his job.. he is also a pretty decent kitty bed by now if that qualifies as a hobby.
22. What are their ticks?
Hmh... not sure he has any, probably just fiddling with his fingers when he is nervous if that counts?
23. Do they like children?
Yes, mostly, unless they cling to him and want a photo.. although that more teenage girls. 😂 But in general, yes he likes children, he grew up with quite a lot of them around.
24. How do they react to being around wild animals?
With fascination and awe.
25. If they were given the task to prank someone, who would it be, what would they do, and would the prank work?
It would likely be a bandmate, and it would probably be putting something they hate in their drink. As she isn't the type to prank someone, he would probably fail miserably.
26. Do they have any survival skills?
Yep, they can make fire with two twigs, and they can play music to make some busking money if needed.
27. Are they more book smart or street smart?
Street smart, he likes books, but he grew up in an orphanage, so he learned street smarts along the way.
28. How do they get out of a difficult situation?
Would depend on the situation, he can pay his way out of it, or he can try and run of course. He isn't a fighter so he would rather try and avoid stuff like that.
29. Do they use their body, mind, personality, or force to get what they want?
They don't really do that much.. but to work at the shelter, he used his personality and what he knew they would have to say yes to.
30. What music do they enjoy?
Absolutely everything! If it's music, he likes it. Although everything for its situation. Its not always that black metal fits what you're doing.
Meadow:
11. Do they have a romantic interest?
Yep, and you will soon see who that is.. soonish anyway.
12. How do they cope with struggles?
Fairly well really. They work their way through it, although often they can be a bit snarky when it happens. It's just their way of dealing with it.
13. Do they have anyone they can lean on?
Her half-brother River, his family, her dad, and her mom. Unlike River, she is quite close to her mom, and their relationship is much better.
14. How do they react to someone dying?
If it's someone she cares about, she would like most people be sad. If it's not, then it's more.. eh, shit happens!
15. Can you name 5 personality traits they have?
Friendly, Hardworking, Ambitious, Romantic, Proper
16. How did they become a character?
It was Mahv's idea to have River have a little sister, then she kinda became the kid's mom friend and person outside the family to talk to.
17. Do they get along with others?
Yes and no. She has a way of being that alienates some, but if you see through it, you find a sweet person who is easy to get along with really.
18. What flaws do they have?
They can be a bit hot-headed, snappy, and abrasive when put in a situation they don't expect. She also expects a lot of herself, like becoming the first sage potion maker!
19. How do they influence the story?
She becomes a bit of an icebreaker between River and his mom when they are re introduced. As well as becoming a very good friend to the current kids in the story, the one they go and talk to when things are meh, and parents aren't an option.
20. What do they look like?
Tumblr media
Sneaky I know.
Brooke:
1. How do they present themselves to others?
Very straight forwards really, they are nicely dressed and well behaved in general.
2. Do they like animals?
Yes, they love them, specially horses. Sadly animals don't seem to love her back for unknown reason to her.
3. How do they dress?
Nice clean clothing? Nothing special, and never high fashion.
4. How many languages do they know?
Quite a few actually. She speaks Simlish (English), Japanese, Chinese, French, Italian, German and Spanish.
5. How big is their family?
Not big at all, its basically only her and her parents.
6. What is their purpose in the story?
Now that is a secret still. But it will be shown eventually, and she does have a purpose yep! Her purpose has even changed several time over already.
7. Do they know how to fight?
Yes in her own way. (Cryptic, I know, but you will see one day)
8. What is their back story?
There isn't that much. She has grown up with her parents, they have always been strict but quite fair. As long as she follows their rules and guidance, she is fairly free to do what she wants. Their not overly happy with Flynn as her boyfriend, and think she could have done better, but they have accepted it.
9. Why is their name, their name?
Because random name generator made it so!
10. Do they have any nick names?
Not really, Brooke is short enough on its own. Closest is Flynn calling her his Brooke I think.
AAaaand that is that.. thank you for asking, I hope you enjoy!
