(For the sake of this poll: a collector is anyone who *currently has* a collection of things either physically or digitally that they intentionally acquired which can be grouped together)

Please please please please pleeeeeeeaaaaaaase tell me what you collect and optionally why!!!! (This is doubly true if your collection is related to a regulatory/“special” interest!!!!!!! That’s honestly the only reason I’m making this poll, I am begging youuuuuuuuuuu

Neurodivergent related tags are for reach as I know a lot of neurodiverse people are collectors. I do try my best not to clutter those tags, if anyone has an issue with it please tell me and I’ll remove them

because i keep making the mistake of going into ag communities outside of tumblr, i've really been trying to reckon with the consumerism in the fandom, so here's a few reminders if you are into collecting ag items!

this is a hobby! and like all hobbies, it should be bringing you joy. if it's stressing you out, that's probably a sign that you need to step back, which is an absolutely okay thing to do

your collection is valid even if it includes replicas of items originally made by american girl

you do not have to buy items that you don't love just to reach the arbitrary goal of "completing" a collection

you should not be purchasing items that you don't like just for the sake of keeping up with american girl's newest releases

american girl has continuously been showing us that they are much more interested these days in being a luxury nostalgia brand. you do not have to engage with what the brand is currently doing or producing to be a part of the fandom or collecting community

in fact, you do not have to do a lot of research to learn that mattel is not an ethical company. i'm not going to shame anyone who does continue to purchase products from american girl, but please do not be purchasing items from this brand just from a place of consumerism. there are so many small businesses that produce items for ag dolls that you can support, and you can easily find many second-hand american girl products

you should never be spending money that you don't have on american girl

making clothes and items is valid! handmade parts of your collection are beautiful

Y'all have no idea how much time and money I put into my collection. I'm very proud of it and I always show it to any guests I have over. If they're interested that is lol.

I've put a hold on my collecting for awhile until my wedding is FINALLY done and over with. Been real stressed out for months 😭 We're having an Elder Scrolls themed wedding! I'm excited but still stressed lol

ahhh finally updated my collection with the valentines stuff and putting up my thai lobby cards... id have gotten them sleeves but they already arrived to me quite beat up (which i expected!) so theyre just raw on my wall... whoops.! so happy i love u re-animator.. more to come soon(ish) with the new boxset and whatever other 40th goodies they might release, and i fear im very much running out of room here haha.... sweats...

Really cool Pallid Twig Ant (Pseudomyrmex pallidus) colony I found today!

I knew twig ants are supposed to be in the area, so I went to a local spot and found them crawling on a bush! There were plenty of dead twigs, and after watching a few workers scurry around the bush for a few minutes, I finally spotted one going inside a tiny opening in a dead branch.

I went ahead and collected the branch and was happy to find multiple workers and brood inside. Later, I cracked the twig open and was super happy to see a queen (pictured bottom), meaning I could keep this colony.

I’ll definitely try to post more about these guys later!

super duper cool thing arrived today! these are Cartoon Network emmys consideration DVDs

it also came with a card of all the very cool people who worked on these shows. I really love Joe Murray, Everett Peck and Tim here x)

and here's the backs to the DVDs that just say a little bit about the shows. I'm so happy to have this, it's been a dream collectible of mine ever since I found out it existed (which was a few months ago, so not that long but still)
