YES SCI YES YOU GET IT
like. okay, i dont think david way's run was AMAZING. it was flawed!! i think it struggled a lot with the execution of its ideas especially since there wasn't more natural flow between the comedy and more serious aspects, they interfered with each other a lot. HOWEVER. if you ignore the execution and just look at the underlying concepts behind the stories in way's run you start to appreciate it. way had such cool and fun ideas (i may be cringe but i really do like "evil deadpool" as bad as that name is not necessarily as a character but conceptually and as a medium for wade to Work Through Shit) and i think he may be gets a bit too much shit for it.
(i do, however, hate that way's run was basically the only reference material used for the deadpool game bc they stripped any more serious moments and themes from the run and JUST did the lol random humor and did irreparable damage by painting deadpool the taco memes guy and nothing more)
((also i might reread way's run now too :] ))
oh i have THOUGHTS about the deadpool game
way's run had such an impact on deadpool's pop-culture presence and my god. i think it was the timing of it, being at peak rage-comic icanhascheeseburger meme era of the internet where people would share panels out-of-context for the haha funnies and so that kind of was just how people were exposed to deadpool. deadpool became like, the comic equivalent to like, trollface or something
it's kind of over now, we kind of have a more complex deadpool out there doing his deadpooliest - and i can't say i miss the era of 7 different deadpool books and all of them being cringe incarnate. but i do miss the playfulness of way's era of deadpool. i think duggan and poeshn literally. actively did everything they could to "normalise" wade. make him like everyone else.
get rid of the boxes ✔️ give him a wife ✔️ give him a kid ✔️ put him on the avengers roster ✔️
i don't know, it was kind of a huge endeavour to make him normal. he still had all his misery, sure, but it became a lot less fantastical and probably more...? relatable? to your average straight middle-aged guy. but i think it's a shame, because i do like fantastical. i think it's fun to get fantastical with it. these are fantastical characters. so i love the grand hallucinations and indecipherable nonsense. i love the creativity. i love not-normal.
i think wade is boring now. comics wade is boring. he's boring, he's cutesy, he's not the weird messed up problematic fave that i fell in love with. i miss the problematic parts of him, instead of him just being a pity-fest. i miss his weird brain. i don't know what's going on up in there anymore. maybe dua lipa's "dance the night" en loope, maybe that's all that's going on in wade's head right now. yeah.

Reminder – there are six days left to submit a panel idea for Barricades con by our March 31 deadline!
Less than a week until the deadline to submit programming for Barricades 2024!
Considering submitting programming for Barricades but not sure exactly what you want to do? There are three categories of panel we’re looking for. If you’re not sure which category your idea fits, submit it anyway; the review panel can help you decide where it fits if the idea is accepted.
Here are the categories of program we’re taking submissions for:
Academic Track
A presentation on any discussion topic backed up by scholarly research. Possible ideas include close readings of the text itself and panels that place Les Misérables in context with other works, or within the context in which it was written.  Academic panels on subjects adjacent to Les Mis (e.g. the social/political context of events that take place within the novel, 19th century French history, discussions of the themes that feature in Les Misérables through the lens of a specific field of study) will also be considered.
Fan Track
The possibilities are endless! Want to tell us all about your favorite fan theories/fanworks? Want to discuss an aspect of the brick in a low-pressure, informal way? Got a favorite adaptation, or staging of the musical? Want to debate which cast recording is the best recording? Are you working on a piece of transformative work or fandom-related project, and willing to discuss your creative process? We welcome submissions from all fans, whether you’ve just joined or been here for decades! Fan track submissions do not need to take the form of a formal presentation; informal discussions, Q&As or questions for other fans are all totally fine to submit.
Social
We’re also accepting ideas for light-hearted panels and opportunities to hang out with other fans; send us your silliest ideas for a good time!  Want to do a Les Mis meme review? A 19th Century France themed D&D campaign? Want to build a collaborative AU together? To debate who would win an all-ami battle royale? Go to our submissions page and let us know!
For more information, please check our submissions page and website for further guidance.

𝕐𝕠𝕦'𝕝𝕝 𝕓𝕖 𝕒 𝕗𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕜
𝔸𝕟𝕕 𝕀'𝕝𝕝 𝕜𝕖𝕖𝕡 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕔𝕠𝕞𝕡𝕒𝕟𝕪… ⋭
(so, where to begin? i guess from the simple fact, that i wanted to do smth fun with this clean-cut parallel. at first, i wanted to make some quick edits, but then, i decided what the heck. i might just re-draw it! *or sort of re-draw it anyways*
the shippy stuff is shippy, but really it was hard not to be all like *insert dicaprio pointing meme* when i was reading the venom comic, and flash just pulled a batman on me. beat jack up, n’ then instead of killing him, like he wanted to, he spared him. took him in his arms all gently-like n’ carried his sorry ass into the dawn. like man, it just hit the cords within me! i was all like oohhh, it's like in one of my most fav scarecrow issues! i wasn't expecting this from the comic, even less so from flash, who always had a bit of bipolar resolute, when it came to jack. 'he wanna kill him, he wanna kill him not'. that sort of thing. yet, this moment kind of shown, that he prob will always find a reason to talk himself out of putting him down.
that's aside, another part of why i love those stories, is that both issues felt personal. both, jon n’ jack had personal grudges, both batman and flash were struggling with personal darkness within them. both overcame it, n' literally had to beat up their personal walking-talking nightmare *flash even refers to jack as that later on*. like, it was pretty great, honestly. all that emotional baggage, uncanny kinships with their own twisted mirror, which resulted in them actually feeling sympathy for scarecrow n' jack. giving them a small speech, that they couldn’t hear *bc unconscious*, sort of implying that maybe ‘they’re not beyond help’. it's almost bitter-sweet. even if most people would argue, that both jon n’ jack are way-way too far gone at that point. even if 'solution' sounds too unrealistic to be true. still, if someone like batman believes in you, then maybe, just maybe there is a chance. n’ if someone like flash spares your life, even though, he’s nothing like bruce *he actually killed people before*, then perhaps, there is smth beyond projection, which made him do it.
all 4 characters are very different, n’ thb the context in everyone’s motivations n’ struggles are very different too, but i love how bruce n’ flash came to the same conclusion. took the same route with their respective twinky ghoul. showing mercy is noble, n’ it’s pretty sweet tbh. one of my fav tropes in fiction is when the hero/protagonist shows kindness/empathy toward their villain *who in most cases doesn’t ‘deserve it*. that whole cop out thing about 'evil should be punished by death' in fiction really takes away the romantism n' bendiness of fiction as whole tbh. esp with heroes. they supposed to be able to do 'impossible', including 'forgive the unforgiving'. this is why i prob will always advocate for the ‘no kill’ rule for super-heroes. i mean, it makes you have moments like those. smth that is actually emotional n’ also shows the cracks in heroes themselves, bc usually they can only truly relate to their rogues, someone who is usually designed to be a warped up reflection of hero’s own weaknesses, struggles or traumas. n’ while i always see jack o’lantern as spiderman’s villain *he’s one of oldies, a classic villain after all*, i suppose, that this version of jack was tailored for flash’s venom specifically, n’ i *unexpectedly* i loved it. daddy's issues run deep in this one for both of them. meanwhile, bruce be out there lecturing jon's school bullies, after he nearly killed them. what a man lol.
now, the comic panels themselves. just for better visualisation.
Tumblr media
i didn’t include the first bit in my lil art thingy above, but i love how not only the venom mirrors batman in actions, but also how they’re even facing opposite sides, playing around with nearly opposite color pallets in each fight too. caters to the mood, but also it just looks nice side by side tbh. the blue/black/grey for batman, and orange/dark brown/yellow for venom. a dark knight / soldier n' maskless halloween villain. this prob the only point, where they connect narratively n' thematically, but it's a major one.
anyho', i didn't had a hardcore goal to re-draw those scenes to a t, just make it recognizable for the most part. but it was fun! also gave me an execuse to stare at those comic panels some more.
as for the song, it popped out inside my head kinda randomly. but it fits them, i think. even the tune itself adds to it. somewhat sad n’ slow. but the meaning of it, not fully hopeless. at least, they will always have someone there for them. after all, guys like jon n’ jack will always come back, seeking ‘their hero’, hungry for punishment or other things. n’ for someone as crippled as bruce or flash, it might not be the worst thing, really. usually, the hero is stuck in the same miserable 'unchanging', unwinnable situation as their villains are. be it outside forces, fate or sickness, that keeps them bond. it's still better to try and make the best of it, right?)

The Case for Jimmywing
You can skip to “Let’s start at the beginning” for the actual content of what I’m analyzing.
So about a year and a half ago, I happened upon a trade paperback of “Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen: who killed Jimmy Olsen” at a comic book store we regularly drive an hour just to go to. I found the coat tail riding title self deprecating and hilarious and it instantly became a favorite of mine. And it fucking ruined my life.
For a split second I mistook Jimmy Olsen for being part of Nightwing’s “Ginger Harem” as they call it. I thought “he had to be, right? Like statistically?” He’s part of the young adult demographic, or ‘gen 2’ as I call them, he and Dick are both huge parts of Clark’s life to the extent where they gotta at least be friends, and no one would be shocked if he was one of the redhead’s Dick’s “collected” as they say. So why the hell was there nothing on the internet falling for this obvious set up?
(For context the human geography of fandom behavior is of high interest to me)
This was quite a bit of an anomaly, so I set out for some research. I brushed over results from the silver age initially and saw there was just one panel coming up with both of them in present art style (a twenty years in the future thing). It was more of a Jimmy Olsen cameo than anything where all I learned is they’re not familiar these days. I still liked the idea though and if I left my digging there I probably would’ve let it go a while ago. But then I looked INTO the silver age stuff and OH BOY IS THERE A LOT TO UNPACK HERE.
Long story short, they were written as close friends for years and I feel like DC is trying to gaslight me personally into pretending it didn’t happen. There’s a lot of potential to pick up where they left off with everything that’s happened in their stories since but there’s little to no sign of taking advantage of that anytime soon.
Let’s start at the beginning…
In 1940 both Batman and Superman separately acquired child sidekicks. A pair of eyes in the story the same age of the target audience’s to see themselves in and relate to. Robin would make his debut in the comics as Batman’s sidekick, would be Bruce Wayne’s legal ward, and also dawn combat training, gadgets, and a costumed vigilante identity. Jimmy Olsen would be a cub reporter at the daily planet where Clark Kent worked (a position specified beyond it’s dictionary definition as a teen internship position in “Superman Smashes the Klan”, which is set in the radio show cannon) and help at Superman’s side as himself.
Tumblr media
Later, particularly with the classic comic run “World’s Finest”, in a world much less saturated with superheroes, let alone sidekicks, than we have today, the sidekicks of the stars of these comics easily became close friends. Most notable adventure by today’s standard would be World’s finest # 195, probably due to it’s shock and meme value cover of Batman and Superman making their sidekicks dig their own graves.
Tumblr media
A personal favorite of mine would be World’s Finest #141 where the sidekicks run away to an island and fake their deaths, making it the first of at least twice they do that together (another being near the end of #195). Here they establish a secret hideout in the mountains in an abandoned observatory to keep souvenirs from their respective mentor’s adventures, and some of their own. (Notably two dummies of themselves Batman and Superman had just used to get back at them for pulling this stunt).
Tumblr media
In Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen, Jimmy has also filled in for Robin twice. First time was to get Jimmy into the Mystery analysts (#111), second was to settle a bet after Robin beat him in a “Young Man of the Year” pageant (#130). In #111 this is where Robin trained Jimmy in combat, and some gadget use so he’s got that under his belt now enough to do it all again at least.
Tumblr media
Also quick fun fact before I move on, Jimmy knew Robin and Batman’s secret identities LONG before he knew Superman’s. In World’s Finest #144, due to the fact that Jimmy was radiating kryptonite, he and Robin switched mentors and Batman pretty much immediately told him that he was Bruce Wayne, and Dick Grayson was Robin (told with Robin’s approval). A bit of an anomaly, but it carried forth in continuity.
Tumblr media
Anyway, if you try to look up any shared adventure’s in recent comics, you’ll unceremoniously get nothing. I mentioned earlier Jimmy’s cameo in “Nightwing the New Order”, and there’s also like two crossed paths in the current World’s Finest run (a flashback continuity) and it just seemed like their dynamic then was just that Robin was relatively annoyed with Jimmy for being the one to debunk Mr. Mxyzptlk and Batmite’s disguises. (Rude?!)
Tumblr media
I can’t find ANYTHING that explains this drift. My estimate would be that their dynamic died out some time between Dick joining the Titans and becoming Nightwing. But still remains a glaring connection.
Nightwing and Flamebird
So the first time that the Nightwing mantle debuted it was Superman as Nightwing with Jimmy as Flamebird. They went as these heroes into the bottle city of Kandor on multiple occasions. At the time they modeled these personas off of two kinds of birds found in Kandor, taking inspiration from Batman and Robin. The people of Kandor were convinced that Superman was actively refusing to grow the city again, and deemed him an enemy, which justified the disguises.
Tumblr media
You still see this referenced every now and then, usually in museums and stuff, in fact, remember that observatory hideout? Statues and/or costumes of Superman’s and Jimmy’s Nightwing and Flamebird are on prominent display. In fact, Robin and Jimmy landed on naming the place itself “The Eyrie”, because as Robin said:
“In a way, we’re both birds. You’ve been Flamebird, and I’m Robin. So let’s call it the Eyrie!”
Tumblr media
They revisit it now and then, but it seems to have been forgotten at this point.
Now since then there have been multiple pairs of Nightwings and Flamebirds. Obviously we know Dick Grayson is THE Nightwing and has been for a long time. The most consistent Flamebird however would be Bette Kane, and here’s where this gets interesting.
So there’s a full Krytonian legend surrounding Nightwing and Flamebird, from what I can tell, different versions, from heroes to gods etc. The most complete version I can only find on the wiki, so if you know where it’s from please let me know!
Here’s the link: https://superman.fandom.com/wiki/Nightwing_and_Flamebird
Here’s the quote:
“The true Flamebird is a massive, flaming dragon-like creature from deep in Krypton's past. The bird's partner is Nightwing, who is also its mate and opposite.
Among the early Kryptonian Gods, Flamebird was charged by almighty Rao with constantly refreshing the world by burning down the new creations of her brother, Vohc-The-Builder. She did so, but there was no hostility between the two; Vohc was grateful that Flamebird constantly pushed him to reimagine his works.
However, to help his friend, Nightwing, Vohc made it possible for him to meet flamebird. As such those two fell in love. Vohc's next creation was a monument representing all of his love for Flamebird. While Flamebird truly admired and appreciated the work, she fulfilled her duty to Rao by burning it down. This time Vohc actually begged for this work to be saved, but Flamebird ignored him. This destroyed much of Vohc and changed him into Vohc-The-Breaker. (Comic Series: Action Comics)
In each cycle, the Nightwing and the Flamebird are reborn, and must find each other. Also in each cycle, they are betrayed by a friend and killed.”
It cites action comics but I can’t narrow it down. My guess is that it came up when Thara Ak-Var and Chris Kent held the mantles.
So Bette Kane initially took up the Flamebird mantle to get Dick’s attention (while he was still Robin). He rejected her and it didn’t really work out which in the grand scheme of all things considered, makes sense thematically in a “pushing fate” kind of way. She was Flamebird for a while after that, even seen fighting beside Dick Grayson’s Nightwing every now and then, but hasn’t been Flamebird since before rebirth so currently no one seems to hold the mantle at present (technically).
Tumblr media
So where does that leave Flamebird now?
Well this year, two interesting things have come up. One, in the new cartoon “My Adventures with Superman”, Jimmy is Flamebird again in the form of a username for his conspiracy blog. As of now, he just seemed to come up with it cause it sounds cool, so unless they pull out a “what a coincidence” or back story of how he found the name, that’s probably the extent of Flamebird’s roll there.
Tumblr media
The second is in Action Comics #1058 where Kara reveals that Nightwing and Flamebird is actually the fable of the House of El. Each Krytonian house had a fable and this one is spesific to Superman and his family.
Now from here on out this is all just my thinking. “Theory” would even be a strong word implying that I legitimately think this is what is going on. Call this “if I were in charge of this story this is how this would go”
So what now?
Dick as a fated Nightwing makes so much sense for him. Pretty much all of his best qualities as a person can be seen in Superman and in it’s been said time and time again that he got the title from him. There’s that connection. That has my thinking that Nightwing and Flamebird would have a strong connection to the House of El, i.e., Superman. We know Nightwing is Dick, we know Dick looks up to Superman like, frankly most of the time, a better dad than Bruce. Low bar, but still.
And with this connection in mind, and all the history stated earlier with not just Jimmy’s long history with not just Dick, but Superman as well, he seems like the obvious choice to me. They state over and over again how Jimmy proves his loyalty, he’ll charge into danger like it’s nothing (a trait I personally think he picked up from Lois) and he is always such a fun narrator when handed the mic. He’s earned it.
As far as the ship goes, aside from it potentially being a huge payoff for a sixty year old saga of legends of love, heroism, and fate, the dynamics of their modern personalities would be unparalleled.
Over all its fricken WEIRD that their dynamic was just randomly forgotten like that, especially with everything built around them that you’d think would have them at least cross paths. I don’t hold not having a romantic relationship between them against DC, nor do I ever expect them to ever take that route any times soon, but come on man why aren’t they at least friends anymore?

Creations AU, But I obnoxiously over explain it PT 8
Holy crap how are there 8 parts.
211-240
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well it took 200 pages but he cracked like a damn egg in front of someone.
Sammy's a cool dude though.
Again we see characters treat Mike rather, differently because they know something about him we are assumed not to. or at least don't have full context too.
He's delicate and understanding towards a complete WTF situation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sammy's continues to be a delicate dude about Mike's horrible horrible ordeal.
Mike's memory is fuzzy atm.
Apparently they were gonna "Talk to a puppet"
Ya know that thing we saw as a plushie earlier on. Sammy seems to think that's weird.
and holy shit it's a corpse.
Tumblr media
Haha don't yell in front of the traumatized man in shock at who he's looking at. Sammy quickly rights himself as soon as he notices that.
Sammy seems way more upset about Mike being put in danger than having to help him. X'D He's used to bullshit I suppose.
"Prank" our asses Michael you got impaled.
Tumblr media
So the owners know about Mike's mental health struggles and an illness we aren't quite privy too. One that makes it hard for Mike to distinguish reality.
Thanks Michael.
Makes sense why William was so weird. (Still handled that poorly)
Sammy's handling it a bit better in the sense he isn't acting like Mike's unhinged or dangerous and he's clearly not scared to be in the same room as Mike, but is being delicate and soothing for Mike's sake.
Also: Michael has a history of doing "Crap" which is amusing. Wtf are you doing Michael. X'D
Tumblr media
You can see why I like Sammy right? X'D
Specifically his line "DON'T APOLOGIZE TO ME APOLOGIZE TO HIM"
Dudes got his priorities are in place. He doesn't want Michael to kiss his ass he wants him to make shit right with Mike. Ya know, the person actually most affected by this shit.
We can see between the two Sammy is clearly the more responsible one and despite Michael's shit talking earlier Sammy is pretty level headed.
We can see why they don't get along though.
Also because heights/panel layouts are hard: Sammy is around the same height as Mike, aka he's short lmao but they're just shown at head level for convenience reasons.
Tumblr media
Sammy is literally that one meme of the woman holding the guy pointing at the other woman angrily.
He continues to be responsible by NOT letting Michael take Mike home lmao. Let's be real I wouldn't trust Michael to do smth like that either. X'D
Tumblr media
Haha Mike you still aren't okay are you?
Sammy's still trying to be nice.
Tumblr media
Sammy that's a weird response...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh. He's nuts too!
Mike's response to Sammy's insane rambling about not being sure he's a real person is just
"...Yeah"
Lmao. Seems Sammy has had a colorful past with Freddy's himself. Makes sense he's one of the owner's son.
Which makes his relationship with William very...questionable from an age/how long they've known each other angle. If you were curious about why Michael was possessive over Mike earlier and called William a "Gross old man" now you now. William's having relations with his business' partner's son who's presumably older than Michael but stillllllll wtf Will. X'D. Healthy relationships isn't something this series thrives on if you haven't noticed.
Also: Silver eyes reference with the Spring Bonnie panel.
Fourth closet reference with "Fake Charlie".
The panel where Sammy's face is an endoskeleton is symbolism by the way, not directly "real".
The depths of Sammy's paranoia and anxieties he's not real is justified. How WOULD you know if you were a fake person? XD
What I like during this convo is Mike asking directly if Sammy thinks he's crazy and Sammy swiftly responding with "Not really no"
Tumblr media
Ahh. So Mike for sure has an illness that makes him see things that "aren't there".
(It's never directly stated to be schizophrenia because I don't like writing illnesses I don't have 1 to 1, but what Mike's been experiencing LATELY Has not been apart of his illness, as he's medicated and as we've seen: Cody was very much real.)
And we hear it from Mike: He thinks everything he's seen with Cody so far has been a dream of some kind. Since again, he's on medication he shouldn't be hallucinating.
I forgot this was the case till going back and looking into FNAF stuff again: Mike's character trait of hallucinating was based on the player character "Mike Schmidt" having hallucinations/the "Rare screens" in FNAF 1.
Something I've hoped ya noticed: Mike's character arc is gaining friendships and relationships and getting over what happened at Freddy's.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lol so you COULD see as this purely as Sammy being manipulative buuuut here's how it is to me:
He cares enough about Mike's health to let him have a break at all. He cares about the robots happiness because replacing nightguards is implied to be stressful for them.
He's a "Try to keep everyone happy" kind of person lmao.
Also new character yay.
Tumblr media
Lmao. She's weird.
This is Mike's roommate! :D We knew he lived with someone and now this is just conformation.
She looks familiar....
Wonder if we've seen ANOTHER red head who's associated with green....Oh yeah. The ghost that spoke to Bonnie briefly.
Tumblr media
Something brought up before: Sammy hired Mike so Sammy is technically Mike's boss.
Tumblr media
This art style wise was when I decided: I just needed to get pages done and I didn't super care about the quality (Still feel that way)
the first arc isn't my favorite. FNAF 3 was fun because of our 2nd favorite local hoe behind Freddy himself, known as Andrew Sister Location was a SLOG It was LITERALLY just the game dialogue and occasionally I had fun with Josh, but it differed enough from the game that I NEEDED to do it bleh and FNAF 4 had it's moments again, everything original was fun.
Twisted ones and Pizza Sim are my favorite concept wise because that's when shit SUPER hits the fan. They aren't directly 1 to 1 with anything so I can go nuts.
The FNAF 1 arc mostly ESTABLISHES a lot so when we get to BATSHIT INSANITY nobody's confused who everyone is and what their relationships to each other are.
Anyway: Mike explains wtf they were doing at Freddy's to this woman, clearly SHE'S the person he's been conspiring against Freddy's with.
Tumblr media
The Puppet is a fan favorite design in Creations and to this day I don't get it:
I gave the regular puppet HAIR. That's about it. X'D
Either way: Mike can't fully trust the info given during this because of Michael's "Prank".
Keep in mind: They went her presumably to discuss how to fix Freddy's. Which is what Michael and Mike were talking about before shit went wrong.
Sus things:
Michael knows about the "Putting people in robots" thing or at least is implied to know. How and why does he know that? Michael's friends/acquaintances with the girl who put his brother in the Golden Freddy costume. Does he KNOW Cody's fate? How does he feel about these things?
Tumblr media
So Mike presumably waited 5 years to do anything about what was happening at Freddy's because he wasn't ready to confront this.
William was committing the "Main" murders that caught Mike's attention 5 years ago. They conformed there ARE more than Jeremy by mentioning "victims" but he came HERE after an incident at a sister location Fredbear's having children and the owner go missing.
Michael woke up from his accident 5 years ago.
Afton has dabbled in making robots that look and act human.
and the suspected main goal from this was to create robots that had human souls/remnant inside them.
HMMMMMM WONDER WHAT'S GOING ON LMFAO.
Tumblr media
Lol oop-
Sooo question: Does Sammy know about his sister being in the puppet? X'D
If he does it'd make sense why he was confused Michael and Mike were talking to her lmfao.
Also if you're FNAF savvy you're probably wondering wtf is up with Fake Charlie and all that. Considering Charlie is APARENTLY STILL ALIVE. Huh.
I have a comic planned explaining all that BS with Sammy, Charlie and "Fake Charlie" and the puppet. Because it is left almost completely not answered in the main series lmfao.
Suffice to say: Mike's "WTF" attitude is pretty spot on.
The robot Sammy ran into that looked like his sister isn't the one currently walking around AS his sister, since they presumably dismantled it from his comment about it bleeding and the Puppet is his REAL sister.
And there's just something/someone walking around claiming to be Charlie.
Tumblr media
OH.
SO JOSH IS MISSING NOT DEAD?~
SL readers again, know what happened But I'm being cheeky here until we review SL too.
So Michael seems to think Josh is "Dead". That's weird. Why would he think that exactly? With the specific detail of dying from machinery? Is this something his dad told him to keep quiet about?
Michael does seem to know a lot more than he SHOULD.
Lmao our new gal pal suggesting zombies is funny especially if you know what happened to Josh.
Dead people don't stay dead at Freddy's lmfao.
Tumblr media
HAH HE RECORDED THAT CONVERSATION.
Tumblr media
Haha wonder if that important thing has been staring you right in the face.
No the series is not subtle about who it is but it was never meant to be a "Twist". UNLIKE THE SILVER EYES SERIES
The evidence to who the robot is is made obvious from the start, it's not meant to be an ass pull. You're supposed to be in on it. You're waiting for everyone to notice the OBVIOUS but the OBVIOUS isn't relevant to completely see until later.
You know they're weird the second they appear on screen lmfao. The denial comes from the very idea a PERSON robot is a thing is hard to believe. So the CHARACTERS are in denial this person is a robot. BECAUSE WHY WOULD YOU ASSUME A NORMAL HUMAN IS A ROBOT!? X'D
Humans dismiss a LOT of shit until what they're looking at is undeniable. Mike's still in denial what he's thinking is the 100% fact because holy shit this entire situation is BONKERS.
Everyone in the building is BONKERS. Everything that goes down in there is BONKERS.
And even worse: Mike cannot trust his own eyes fully because of his hallucinations.
Like if someone you met had a few oddities with them your first thought wouldn't be "Oh they're a robot" it'd be "Oh that's weird" and it would build, and build and build until you're like "Oh..."
It's the fucking invader zim affect lmao. An alien being in your god damn class is so out of the realm of THINKABLITY you wouldn't even think that's a possibility.
Of course: Our characters are AT the point where "A human robot is a possibility" now all that's left is waiting for them to realize WHO it is and fully connect everything together.
Tumblr media
Mike's still in denial. Poor dude is used to having to not fully trust what he sees/experiences. Which sucks.
Tumblr media
HAHAHA YES TALK TO FREDDY. >:)
SHOW US THE BEAR MIKE!!!!
Tumblr media
Haha his friend/roommate is a goof.
Tumblr media
...I hope the cut to Michael is as funny to everyone else as it is to me considering wtf they were JUST talking about.
AND OKAY MICHAEL HOW COULD YOU HURT BONNIE'S FEELINGS LIKE THAT?!
He's playing on the Pikachu and Eevee switch which either conforms he has 3 switches or 3 sets of joycons at least lmao. Rich little shithead.

Time for volume two! Things are picking up steam; we’re switching over to Trimax next week and I anxiously await more angst.
I feel bad for Nightow, having to deal with getting canceled right as the story was getting started in earnest. I hear that this was around when the 98 anime was made, as well? If so, they really didn’t have much to go off of. One of these days I should watch that series, too.
This occurred to me when I was watching Tristamp first, but it’s fascinating how Vash feels so... relatable? I am by no means a space western gunbattle manga protagonist, but he’s an incredibly compelling and unique character. I had to go back and remove a sentence after I realized I was writing in first person as if I were Vash himself. (“The first time *I* encountered Legato?” I’ve never met Legato and I hope I never do.)
I suppose it’s a testament to how well-written this series is, making us all feel empathy for this fictional man.
Now for some specific thoughts:
Tumblr media
-Interesting that the villains have actual McGuffins to give to Vash in this version. In Tristamp I got more of a feeling that they were just a loose collective of Knives devotees? Here there’s an official numbering system and everything. I suspect we won’t be learning what that coin box does for a good while…
Tumblr media
-This strikes me as a pretty assertive move on Vash’s part, compared to his Tristamp self getting dragged head first into the plot whether he wanted to or not. He’s taking up the protagonist mantle (and all the tragedy that comes with it) a bit faster here.
Tumblr media
-Well this is... surprisingly nice for a guy who previously delivered a severed head in a bag. “Good luck ladies, spend your time wisely before Knives inevitably exterminates you along with the rest of humanity <3”
Tumblr media
-Wolfwood!! I’m not gonna lie, my confirmation bias made me misread this line as “trans man” multiple times. I blame the sheer amount of t4t Vashwood shippers who constantly create amazing art.
Tumblr media
-I have seen this panel before, as part of a “Trigun out of context” meme. Knowing the context still does not diminish the sheer power of… whatever this is. Nightow is living his artistic dreams ; )
Tumblr media
-Aaaand we‘re now at Knives’ rather disturbing attempt to force Vash’s angel arm. Here I was going on about how Vash is so easy to empathize and identify with, then the story hits us with this. It’s such a shame that in this version, there’s no one to come back and snap him out of it, so he has to shoot himself to downgrade from annihilating the planet to “just” wrecking a moon. Meryl, where are you when we need you? Also, poor Wolfwood, screaming at the sky, way out of his depth with no damn idea what is happening.
Tumblr media
-There are several gorgeous splash pages in this last chapter, but this one is my personal favorite. What a devastating sentiment.

@soosee, oooooh, you mean the ~forbidden archives?~ (just kidding it's just stuff I never really finished properly/stuff I haven't posted on here because it's not bsd related)
but since you mention it, I am now going to go down a rabbithole, because oh my gosh. Just for context, I now have about three and a half sketchbooks full of primarily skk, so. There are a lot of things I haven't gotten around to rendering properly aksdjfksdjfksd, and I have a lesser but still substantial amount of actual planned out/partially rendered comics and illustrations in my drawing program, my drafts are a MESS.
So, under the cut, here are a bunch of those things for anyone who's curious!
First off, there was a nineteen page comic that I did lineart for back in...January, I think? and then I never finished it because I started working on other things, and then when I finally came back to it I squinted and realized my whole rendering style(and also how I draw Chuuya) had changed and that redoing the whole thing would be an absolute pain, so I've never gotten around to fixing it. I still like it in concept, though: it's basically just Chuuya and Dazai being domestic and talking after Dazai is having a bad night. And I still kinda like these four pages, at least.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aaand a comic I'm still planning on finishing called "Knife Squad"
Tumblr media
A couple Little Mermaid AU things I almost fully rendered and then never got back to akdfjksdjfks
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then there was a hurt-comfort skk comic that I planned out and then still have not rendered (side note, this is how I make comics sometimes; i just pull in pictures I've taken from my sketchbook to plan out paneling and stuff)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I have this short comic based on my "This is how it feels to take a fall" fic, which I have sketched out but not fully rendered lol
Tumblr media
Oh and then there's this meme from a while ago that I never posted
Tumblr media
...Aaaand this is getting absurdly long, so you know what I'm making a second post with more

hi! I'm the anon who sent the icebeast playlist ask. It was actually nice to get some actual context on what's been going on with Bobby and Hank to get them to this point- I'm reading chronologically right now and I'm still in the 60s, (though I have read some more scattered modern runs here and there) so my knowledge is limited. I love both characters quite a lot but i can definitely see why you're upset on Hank's behalf in those interactions :( . I'm not gonna defend Bobby here, because while even with my limited knowledge I can piece together some reasons for why Bobby responded the way he did and fucked that conversation up, there's no justification and he definitely needs to make it up to Hank. Thanks again for the context, I really and truly love seeing nuanced takes on character dynamics and sometimes that nuance gets messy when it comes to looking at what actually happened in the text as opposed to what one might have preferred to happen.
Oh, hey, hello there!
Tumblr media
First off, I want to say - if anyone has a meme prompt that they want to send in, like this playlist meme, but they don't have an RP blog, you're still good to send things in on Anon! That's what Anon is for, precisely because you, my Anonymous friend, sent in the playlist ask, and now it's opened up a whole conversation and people are learning more about comic book characters who, let's face it, have SO MUCH history. SO MUCH.
Being able to just get the highlights or even an attempt at a throughline makes such a difference, honestly - it gives you a coherent story where you can go, okay, I want to see more of THAT, and that's when you can just go, hey, where can I read more of this storyline or this writing style or this character. Comics are so much more legible and easy to break into when you can pick a character or a dynamic or a storyline, and just go from there. It's still a massive problem, all these years on, and Marvel and DC don't make it easy with their confusing numbering systems and constant retcons.
Tumblr media
With that said . . . hoo, you're starting off in the 60s? I am. Kinda sorry, friend, that is a rough time, I can only do so much Lee/Kirby X-Men before I just start breaking out into hives. When you get into the early 70s, and especially when Claremont takes over, though, man, you're in for a treat!
And it's also - I feel like it's really important for me to state my biases, because I am biased. I love Hank. I write him a lot. I've read . . . probably the lion's share of his comics. He's kind of a personal inspiration, in some ways, and he was really influential to me when I was a kid due to various body related issues.
Tumblr media
So I'm inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt, and I maybe tend to side with him by default, but that's usually why I include the panels when I talk about these things, so that you can see them and have your own take on it, so you can see why I came to that interpretation. There's nothing I hate more than comic book fans who will tell you how a storyline or a character goes, and their back-up for it is, that's the way I remember it, and then you go and read it and it's completely fuckin' different. Fucking annoys the piss out of me.
And I want people to feel like they can argue with me! I love talking about messy character dynamics, and character who fuck up and make bad choices, because that's how life is and how people are, that's how I am and how you are. Especially since I know what and why Hank was feeling in a particular moment, why he needed Bobby so much and Bobby let him down, but I don't know where that sits in Bobby's story. Maybe I'm being harsher on him than I should be, and I welcome that discussion, that's a conversation worth having!
Tumblr media
If I wasn't open to interpretation of these characters by other people, I would solely write fanfic - and, to be fair, I do - but I mostly roleplay, because I love the windows into the soul. I love the moments when characters click or don't, because it reveals essential truths, it hits you in the gut, it's fucking satisfying, man.
And honestly, there's so much about Hank's story that I wish had gone differently. So many character dynamics that have fallen by the wayside, that made them better - remember when Hank and Emma used to be best friends? Yeah! That used to be a thing! So getting to play that out here, with friends and talented roleplayers and talented roleplayer friends (lbr, these three things are the same thing) is just a joy.
Tumblr media
Thank you for the asks, friend!

A collection of some of my faovrite NoPixel drawings I’ve done a few years ago (+ one I redrew a few months back) :>
I’ll be explaining each of them below the “keep reading” line, so if ya wanna hear the context behind each of these, then be my guest uvu/
1st drawing (drawn April 15th 2019) - This one (along with a few others here) features a character named Yung Dab, who had at that point begun to disguise himself like this and call himself “The Gnome.” And yes, this was around the time that gnome meme was going around, so he did say “Ho ho ho, he he he” :’]
2nd drawing (drawn May 2nd 2019) - Just a bunch of sketches of different characters. Top right we got Alabaster Slim, to the right of him we got Yung Dab again, to the right and a bit above him we got... Jacob? I think? I’m beginning to forget certain characters’ names. Below that one we got Ziggy. On the bottom right we got Kiki, besides her we got a scuffed af Brenda, and the last guy is Dr. Isaac.
3rd drawing (first drawn May 29th 2019, then had more added June 1st) - Tldr; Yung Dab got caught doing uh... terrorism, and was locked up for life in max security. The lady is Jenny Hall, a detective that had a mixed relationship with the criminal that was saddened by the state he was in when he was locked up and would visit him sometimes.
4th drawing (drawn June 25th 2019) - Just a silly drawing of Irwin Dundee saying something the person roleplaying them- a streamer by the name of Whippy- would say to his chat when they spammed 7s or L_ or something else in his text-to-speech donos.
5th drawing (drawn September 26th 2019) - One of the stories I was glued to was the game of cat and mouse between Irwin Dundee and his brother- who Irwin had thought he killed, but was alive. It was very thrilling to watch to say the least. (And it was fun seeing a couple of these new cadets (not a real one, just an RP one) at the time be involved in the story as well)
6th drawing (drawn November 9th 2019) - Honestly, I just wanted to do sort of a redraw of the 3rd drawing in this list. Yeah.
7th drawing (drawn December 17th 2019) - At the time, there had been quite a few police character deaths on the server. And I just thought “why not draw them as animals? Kinda like they’re reincarnated or something.”
8th drawing (drawn December 29th 2019) - No, there wasn’t more police character deaths at this point, I just wanted to draw some of the new police characters as animals. It’s a trend with me wanting to draw humanoid characters as animals (or pokemon) instead sometimes o(-(
9th drawing (drawn January 6th 2020) - I don’t exactly remember why I drew these, but I think someone in a discord group (that’s related to one of these NoPixel streamers) mentioned Gary (guy with the biker helmet and sunglasses) being basically like moomin or something. So I drew Gary in one of those moomin comic panels that exists. And I also drew Reid (another biker) as Little My, ‘cause of how much of a lil’ shit both of them are.
10th drawing (January 17th 2020) - Just wanted to draw something for one of the police characters called Lauren Forcer (yes, the streamer behind her- Kiwo- gives a lot of her characters pun names and I love them).
11th drawing (drawn April 8th 2020) - A wedding photo I wanted to draw between Cat (lady to the right, who’s also a biker) and Paddy (guy to the left). As a side note; Paddy’s dressed in a dress and wig ‘cause he lost a bet with Cat, so he wore that to their wedding :’> Beautiful.
Last drawing (drawn Febuary 4th 2022) - I wanted to redraw the wedding photo, so I did uvu

In today episode of are Ferrari actively sabotaging Charles Leclerc we are taking a look at the MUTE LEC button
Please keep making memes about the whole Mute LEC thing but people seem very confused so here is a little bit of context and things about the pit wall in general.
The Mute LEC "button" is on the intercoms panel, but it's important to note that every pitwall member has a different intercoms panel because they need to listen and talk to different people depending on what their job is. Not everyone needs to be listening/talking to everyone all the time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the intercoms panel that was shown was Mekies who is the racing director and head of track area. Also if you look closer you see that the panel we are seeing only includes "buttons" that are relevant to Charles. And Mekies has the exact same thing right next to that panel but for Carlos. His hand is just in the way so we don't see it.
Mekies doesn't have a Mute LEC button so that he can ignore Charles input but because there are times when he doesn't need to hear what Charles has to say. I don't know for sure but judging from the rest of the buttons it looks like he is always listening to what the drivers say (they don't actually talk that much on the radio) But there are times when he needs to talk to others or organise thing where he probably doesn't need to hear what Charles says, because other people will be listening anyway.
It might even mute everything LEC related.
Tumblr media
Here you can see the two intercom panels to the left of Mekies.
The pit wall can not turn the radio off for the driver. The driver always has to do that themselves. That's just a safety thing. But not every pitwall member always has to listen to the drivers.

So there's this Artist Bingo meme where I read the squares and was like. "I've seen all of these in New Teen Titans." I figured I'd see how many bingos it gets.
If I counted my bingos right, that's NINE.
Blank meme available here!
And here's a list of when I remember all of these I marked. I'm not grabbing issue numbers because I need to go to bed soon and also, dyscalculia forbids me from Memorizing Numbers now that the TitansTower index page is apparently gone forever. But for most of them, I remember the plot context...
(It may be obvious who my Very Favorite character is here. Sorry, not sorry.)
Detailed interior: Everywhere. Titans Tower. Museums. Laboratories. That one fight scene splash page where Marv just captioned it "a picture is worth a thousand words". The meta moment in A Tale of Titans Tomfoolery when the captured creators look around at the place (a machinery-heavy lab) and I think it's George Perez commenting "I'm glad I don't have to draw this".
Character trying to reach under a couch: I can't remember a scene like this, but somebody please correct me if I'm wrong. (There's a scene in the '03 cartoon where they're looking for the remote under a couch. I stuck to the comics for this, though.)
Expression sheet: I don't recall ever seeing one? If someone has links to them though, by all means, clue me in!
Armor+metallic effects: Any panel Vic/Cyborg is in. On covers, he even has the sparkles. (Particularly, Tales of the New Teen Titans #1, I believe?)
Detailed clothing/drapery study: Any panel Raven's in. Even her casual outfits in college (saris and such) usually had a weird amount of detail. (LOTS of detail in her pin-ups and the cover of Tales of the New Teen Titans #2, though!) And Azar's body before she passed. And a lot of things related to Azarath.
Vehicles/machinery: Again, Cyborg. Vehicles are usually in the background or used by the bad guys, I think? And of course, there's a JeriRae scene that takes place in a car (Joey's, I assume?)
Combat sequences / impact pose: It's a superhero comic. There's At Least One Per Issue.
Extreme low / high angle: I know I've SEEN them, there are a lot of wide shot splash pages. (Specifically in my mind: The first glimpse we get of Azarath is one, if I remember correctly!) But also some covers and I think the issue with... was it Francis Kane? Whoever randomly got uncontrollable ghost/ferrokinesis/electronic powers. The issue someone recognized Raven from Time Magazine, I think there's a vortex shot like this. Also images of people falling were sometimes Very Perspective'd.
Kissing/hugging poses: They like each other and there were certainly some kisses and plenty of hugs. (Specifically: Starfire snogs Dick the moment they met, and I vividly remember a panel of Donna and Kory hugging in a pool after some sort of combat practice, maybe during the Judas Contract?)
Stretching/reaching poses: Does Nightwing's acrobatics count? There's a really cool sequence in the GAMES graphic novel like that! Also pretty sure Gar stretches/reaches often, just as a physical emoting thing.
Painted portrait: Okay, maybe I stretched this one a little, but there's a storyline involving a museum where presumably the pictures are painted and there's also that image on Raven's wall that I always assumed was a painting. (Can't remember where the latter was seen; maybe in the scene where Wally comes to ask Raven how college is going and she's in her room? It's not very detailed, just a round frame with a face on it and all colored in the same uniform gold, but I figured it's a portrait.)
Detailed Sci-Fi Props / Environment: There are multiple storylines that take place on other worlds, other dimensions, other planets! Azarath and Tamaran, there's your Fantasy and Science Fiction right there. They were ALWAYS rather detailed. Tales of the New Teen Titans #2 and #4 took place mostly in these places. (Though Kory's, of course, involved more spaceships.)
Free space: Actually not as free as it sounds in these comics! What comes to mind for me is that sequence of images specifically right at the start of Terror of Trigon where Gar's showing how Raven's face has changed.
Animal portrait: Gar exists. 'Nuff said. (Particularly detailed shots of this tend to be on the covers. I think Tales of the New Teen Titans #3 has a wider selection in one shot?)
Turnaround reference: I got these on TitansTower and they were stored on my now-defunct external hard drive, and unfortunately I don't know where to find them again. But I know a set exists, and within that set definitely one exists for Raven, because I used it to make my first cosplay.
Dancing poses: The panels I remember aren't plot-relevant, but especially in the more mundane moments you find these here and there. (There was a 60's Teen Titans comic, at least one, that centered around a music venue, though that's also stretching it a little, heh.)
Weapons: Nightwing has some, Cyborg has some built in, and Starfire uses them occasionally. (I think there's a point in TotNTT#4 when she's talking about training with the Warlords of Okaara and it shows her using some sort of staff?) Also plenty of bad guys; I think HIVE was fond of blasting people with lazers.
Extreme lighting: Oh my god, Terror of Trigon had some EXTREME lighting moments. During the seance especially. Also in "Day in the Life" when Raven falls into that other plane of existence?
Characters eating: I hope I'm remembering this right, but I'm pretty sure there's a moment (can't remember the plot details, but I think it's later and teeechnically probably in New Titans when Raven and Donna are discussing Raven getting her own place?) when they stop at a hot dog stand and Raven just gets... a pile of sauerkraut.
(Thinking back, that may have been french fries, but for the past 20ish years I interpreted it as sauerkraut.)
Horse: Day in the Life had a horse-drawn cart! Pretty sure Wally had to stop it to save someone from being run over or something.
Still life study: So many close-ups of plot-relevant items and places and pretty shots of locations and skies and buildings and just... So Many.
Shoes: When were there NOT shoes?
Hand study: So many hand poses, too, but especially prevalent are those on Jericho, the mute character signing ASL.
Sleeping poses: That infamous shot of Dick and Kory in Terror of Trigon! (Well, okay, they probably weren't... sleeping.) And also people being knocked unconscious by villain attacks (or Raven's attacks).
High-detail landscape or architecture: Azarath! Tamaran! Paradise Island! The NYC skyline! They had a schematics/blueprint thing of Titans Tower in like issue 3, for heck's sake! Pick a plot and Take Your Pick!

Oh! Wow! It looks like my "recommended for you" panel has adjusted itself since the last time I looked at it to surface a lot less contextless meme content and a lot more contextless text posts commenting upon a wide range of concepts, i.e. basically what I imagine my blog looks like.
This seems... more effectively customized, but not much more useful, since this kind of content doesn't really have any intrinsic meaning in the context of a recommendation. For example, a post recommended to me begins with:
it seems pretty directly to be the developer’s grappling with post-Soviet communism...
I'm sure this is part of an interesting discussion, but I'm not about to click on the blog to see what it's about?
I also have, let's see... like four recommended posts about people complaining about their irreversibly screwed up Python installations (I do relate but I'm not going to reblog that), one that asserts that "cultural and religious appropriation is okay in effectively all cases" (I... guess that is a topic I could attempt to say something intelligent about but realistically no I'm not going to reblog that)...
...oh, and a post in which someone is introspectively pondering the impact that the Youtube algorithm and the interests it led them to has had on their life. Yeah, that one's pretty good.
This makes me think about how my text posts would come across out of context as recommended posts, of course. I really don't think about that very much, but if I do, I think the amount of context I naturally provide is probably the same as what I'd put if I were thinking about it a lot more? Like...
manila video. an xkit extension that...
That one should be clearly a pun that you can scroll past unless you find it humorous. A random user might.
hm I suppose that in theory I could make a script that...
I guess this is basically putting out a flier for people to engage with the post if they think it's a really good idea, which would motivate me to try it. A random user certainly might.
periodic plea to go listen to...
I am suggesting you do a thing. A random user might like the suggestion.
I feel like if I were to ever gm tabletop I would...
I think this is the only one that's a little weird as a recommended post, of these, since I'm saying something about myself and a random user doesn't know who I am?

Reminder – there are nine days left to submit a panel idea for Barricades con by our March 15 deadline!
You do not need to be willing to present the panel yourself; if you have an idea that you think would spark a good conversation, we want to hear it! There are three categories of panel we’re looking for. If you’re not sure which category your idea fits under you are more than welcome to submit it anyway; the review panel can help you decide where it fits if the idea is accepted.

WK 5 TUESDAY RESEARCH LECTURE - BRYCE GALLOWAY:
Bryce Galloway Research Lecture:
Notes:
intro. Richard Reddaway work, sound
all sculptures had a speaker / lights in some way
critiquing continuous sound - ‘objects are great’ ‘ kind of like bodies’
professional practice - ‘how did you get this gig’
conference talk - comedy - absurdity
The stories of five to ten people - Engine Room
Curatorship, catalogue, zines, workshops, closing panels;
‘kiss me, hardy! (but not like that)
important to have an identifiable practice
collaboration with Richard
made in nelson “site-is” specific - “cheap-fish” materials
‘interested in this idea of fatigue’ mid-age
‘ works of performance ‘
“zany”
“how to say” Oeuvre - listening to a bit of the video
absurd, so many contradictions - humours - idea of ‘genius’ bastardised
memes - pepe ‘feels good man
drawing, art becoming a meme
essay ‘Dada, surrealism’ society, life - context at that time
online habits
comedy & power& politics
writing academically - sucking the life out of the work
Bryce’s lecture got me thinking again about objects, and the many ways that objects can be considered ‘bodily’.
The context of when art is made, in relation to art movements, like dadaism, surrealism, etc that Bryce mentioned, got me thinking about the context of now and how that relates to the work that I’m making. Like I mentioned last semester, last year my practice dealt with feminism and the body through painting - and this interest in knitting and domestic feminine media I think was further encouraged by covid times of lockdown and isolation... It acted as a catalyst and I think is still a present factor in life in general, therefore my art practice.

Incredibly Hot Sex with Hideous People: Diary Comics (2017) - Above.

curation of the stories of five to ten people as part of the 27th Conference of the Australasian Humour Studies Network, 2021 (Above).
Tumblr media
After researching Bryce’s work a little further I found this interview witch discussed Bryces zine works. The connections made between public/private and feminist theory, I found especially relevant to what I am interested in exploring in my own work:
“LR: In her intro, Tessa also frames your work as feminist in its disregard for the boundaries between public/private, home/work, family/art. Do you see your work and this book fitting within those conversations?
BG: I never thought of my work as feminist until reviews from Tessa and Rebecca Rice circa 2008 pointed this out. I’ve owned this since...”
https://enjoy.org.nz/blog/2018/03/an-interview-with-bryce-galloway ^
This connection that this article makes between a disregard for boundaries between public/private as a feminist act, is validating in terms of what I am trying to do in my own work, using ‘domestic’ processes and material. In breaking down this stigma/hierarchy that surrounds “craft”.
I am hoping to portray this idea in my work in installing domestic , feminine objects and imagery through these textile sculptures in a contemporary art context...
