On one of Danny’s time travel adventures, Danny (in human form) and Tim are sent to Krypton, thousands of years before Clark’s time. They fix the time stream and return to their time, thinking that their adventure hadn’t changed the timestream that much. Then Danny overhears Clark telling Dick (pre-Nightwing) about the adventures of Nightwing and Flamebird. This prompts Dick to branch off and become Nightwing later on. This is also how Danny finds out that he and Tim are counted as Gods of Krypton and legends of their adventures were still told.

Jason: *walks in*

Dick: Bruce, Jason's in the living room!

Jason: *goes to his room*

Jason: *picks out a jacket*

Jason: *turns off all the lights in the house*

Dick: *looks at his watch*

Jason: *charges his phone*

Jason: *makes a sandwich*

Dick: Can you hurry it up?

Jason: Yeah yeah, hold your elephants.

Jason: *pours a drink*

Jason: *sits down to eat*

Dick: Are you KIDDING me?

*Dick's phone rings*

Jason: As I was saying, Artemis told me that the stakeout's been relocated to Dinosaur Island last-minute, so immediately I'm suspicious. People like Sionis don't just—

Dick: *motions for Jason to be quiet*

Dick, to the phone: I didn't catch the second part, could you repeat that?

Jason: —change their plans last-minute, especially not with valuable cargo being passed down a complex multi-state network. This made me wonder if we—

Dick: *pushes Jason's chair away*

Jason, scooting back: —had the wrong guy to begin with and for once, Black Mask wasn't implicated. That meant we were navigating this case all wrong and the evidence we found were just to throw us off the real villain's trail. And you'll never guess who—

Dick: Sorry, Babs, I'm gonna have to call you back.

Dick: *hangs up and glares at Jason*

Bruce: Why is the Batmobile green?!?

Jason: Dick and I had a run-in at the paint factory.

Dick: Don't drag me into this! You were the one driving.

Bruce: You have hour to clean it up. BOTH of you.

Jason, wiping his hands: I did my half of the dishes. Your turn.

Dick: You washed one plate. There's still a whole sink.

Jason: I never said they were even halves.

Jason: Dick, I'm hungry.

Dick, working on the Batcomputer: Go upstairs and ask Alfred for a snack.

Jason: You don't get it. I'm STARVING. I'm so hungry I can't make it up the stairs or else I'll die AGAIN.

Dick: I'm busy.

Jason: *flops onto the chair*

Dick: Get off me!

Jason: Buy me food?

Dick: Alright, alright, just quit crushing my ribs.

Jason: I call driving!

[later in the car]

Dick, texting Bette: Sorry I had to go so suddenly, my brother wanted food.

Bette's reply: Couldn't you tell him to wait?

Dick: *glances at Jason*

Jason: —and won't you fucking believe it, Bruce was all high-and-mighty like—

Dick, smiling softly, texting: You wouldn't get it.

“Trust me.”

By the gods, he does. Even when the tell tale cracks of lies web through Tim’s face, even when Dick hears the waver in Tim’s voice, all but indiscernible to those who didn’t know his baby brother like he did, Dick still puts his faith in Tim.

He has no choice. Not when he’s chained to the wall, broken and beaten and bloody. Not when backup is too far away and Bruce and Jason is slumped over unconscious. Not when Tim has to choose between them or himself. Not when Dick knows that that’s never a choice he’ll take for himself.

“Come back soon, baby bird.”

How could he be angry at Tim for lying when Dick is doing the same? How could he be angry that Tim broke free before any of them did and incapacitated the villains on his own when Dick would have done the same if he could? How could Dick be angry- no, he is angry, that Tim chooses to sacrifice himself to save the. Because there is no other way? He would have done the same, if he could.

“Yeah.”

But he couldn’t. And it’ll cost him Tim. Dick doesn’t want to loose another brother.

Tim tips forward into the glowing white portal, and the world flashes white.

Dick doesn’t have a choice.

It’s only when he’s Nightwing again, with a Jason that had not died, does he remember.

“Wing?!” Jason catches him as he stumbles. Flamebird. Jason goes by Flamebird. Not Red Hood.

Dick stands, roughly brushing Jason off in a way he’ll have to apologize for later. But right now, the vigilante puts in behind him as he swivels wildly to look for the thing- no, the person that unlocked his memories of Before.

It’s only now, does Dick understand what his heart’s been trying to tell him for years.

It’s only now, does he understand who he’s been missing for, for years.

It’s only when he’s facing the large lenses of a camera in front of pained, longing eyes, does Dick Grayson comprehend what he lost and who gave him everything he has now.

“Baby bird-!” The nickname tears out of him as Nightwing, as Dick, stumbles towards the curled up figure of his baby brother.

“Nightwing, what…?”

“Dick…?” Their stalker, Dick’s baby brother, asks, hope marring his voice.

“Baby bird.” He chants, pulling Timothy Drake into a hug, uncaring of the way the camera digs into him. “You’re here. You’re alive.”

Tim curls into the hug, hands gripping the back of the Nightwing suit.

“You remember…?”

“I missed you. Always. There was something missing and it was you, and you did it- we’re alive-!”

“I told you to trust me.”

And despite the sass, Dick could hear the waver in Tim’s voice. And this time, he’s free to act on it. Dick squeezes his little brother closer.

“I will always trust you, baby bird.”

“Uh. Wing. What the fresh fuck is happening?”

Dick pulls back, ready to cheerfully manhandle Tim into becoming a part of the Bats once more. He’d do something about Tim’s overworking habits, but even Dick knows a loosing battle when he sees one.

“Jay, this is Tim. “

“Wait. Someone shot Tarantula. Was that you…?”

“Heh,” Tim grins at him sheepishly behind a Batburger.

Remember how Nightwing was first invented as Clark’s Kryptonian “Batman” disguise (with Jimmy Olsen as the Robin-esque Flamebird)? Imagine if they got to interact like that. Just imagine.

(SPOILERS obviously):

An obvious one, but a classic, the "up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Superman!" line reference. This one never gets old.

Jimmy next name drops Flamebird. in the comics Nightwing and Flamebird were Kryptonian superheroes adopting their names from a species of Kryptonian birds. This is where Dick Grayson gets his Nightwing identity from. The page here is from Who's Who: The Definitive Directory of the DC Universe #17 (1986) drawn by Curt Swan and Karl Kesel.

At the climatic battle of part 2 of Adventures of a Normal Man, we see Leslie Willis become blue and look more like her traditional Livewire look. Her first appearance was in Superman the Animated Series, season 2 episode 5 "Livewire" where she was voiced by Lori Petty, a.k.a. Tank Girl. In the show Leslie was a shock jock radio DJ slinging hot takes live on air knocking down Superman a peg or two

Obviously MAwS took Leslie in a whole different direction, design choice, and occupation change, but I am excited to see what happens next for her.

Before we see Clark battle Leslie we see this guy. White hair, wears orange and black, its Slade Wilson a.k.a. Deathstroke. This fool here in like 20 to 25 years will have his life spiral out of control and get his ass kicked by a bunch of colorfully dressed teenagers.

Deathstroke makes his first appearance in New Teen Titans #2 (1980) (W: Marv Wolfman and George Perez, P: George Perez, I: Romeo Tanghal, C: Adrienne Roy, L: Ben Oda) where he is hired by H.I.V.E. to kill the Teen Titans. In the comics he's a major piece of shit, but a damn good assassin.

After the fight we see Supes clean up and he picks up a billboard that reads Amazotech.

This is a good reference to Professor Anthony Ivo, a mad scientist of the DC Universe who built the Amazo robot who could adapt and replicate any power that the Justice League has and weaknesses. Both Ivo and the Amazo robot make their first appearances here in Brave and the Bold #30 (1960) with the cover art done by Mike Sekowsky and Murphy Anderson.

At the end of the episode Slade name drops Task Force X better known as the Suicide Squad. The name "Suicide Squad" is from the Brave and the Bold #25 where it was the name of Rick Flag's unit in the military. The Suicide Squad pop culture knows first debuted in Legends #3 (1987) as seen below (W: John Ostrander and Len Wein, P: John Byrne, I: Karl Kesel, C: Tom Ziuko, L: Steve Haynie).

The team at this time was composed of Rick Flag, Bronze Tiger, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, Enchantress, and Blockbuster. The team members have changed out with each new Task Force X/Suicide Squad iteration.

Behind Slade, here is Amanda Waller, the most fearsome woman in the DC universe. She's ruthless, politically powerful, and will not hesitate to blow up anyone in the Suicide Squad if they screw up. She makes her first appearance in Legends #1 (1987) same comic series in the previous picture. Very excited to see where My Adventures with Superman goes with this cuz you don't see Superman interact with Deathstroke or Suicide Squad all the often.

It helps to heal the pain Tim felt when Dick made Damian Robin.
