I'm sitting in a bed that is not mine, neither the duvet nor the pillows. The walls are white and clean, with a tiny flat screen at my feet and a mahogany nightstand with a grey nightlight. For the last three days, I've tried to scatter as many objects as I brought: my favourite copy of Pride and Prejudice, a ceramic chicken figure I got from Portugal, and a tiny yellow baby head with horns from Buenos Aires. I've placed them carefully, hoping they will be enough to make this blank space feel like home for the next six months

The class had to write a short story using all the words from our spelling lesson. I wrote about a pregnant dolphin in captivity that simply wanted to be reuinited with her family in the ocean. I believe that simplicity can be a powerful writing tool. My descriptive writing has grown stronger since then but, sometimes it's best to go back to your roots when all you needed was a simple sentence using words from your spelling lesson. It's not always possible to wait for everything to be perfect before pursuing our dreams... some dreams should be nurtured even in the most difficult conditions! Start writing, no matter what. Hi guys, sharing the writing prompt from my very first workshop and the one I chose - the image of the gift. Please read below for my reflection (tried to keep it as unedited as I wrote it). Should I make, people show me they care for me by presenting me with something. Gift s can be intangible, as well, but those seem worse You can't return those. ⠀ Gifts and curses tend to exist side by side. I have the gift of writing, but it is a curse. I write because I reflect. I reflect because I overthink. I overthink because I am scared. I’m a mother so you can probably guess that from day to day I'm often running after two kids. 😁 Finding a balance just doesn't happen during the day. But, I'm okay with that because I've always been a nightowl and working at night has always worked best for me! Being a nightowl was a habit I've always had. As a kid, after homeowork and dinner, I'd go to my room and chill. Listen to music, read, and do some writing. At 16, I got my first job. But, the nightowl habits never changed. Now as a mother, I still write at night because it's the only time I have to myself! ☺ How do you balance life and writing? "Ghosts? Listen, there are no ghosts, nobody that's left this shitehole of a world behind comes willingly back to it! There's a lot of "things" that claim to be ghosts, to be your dearly departed because that gains them your attention and, in their world, that's as close as they'll get to worship.

"See, when the first Men and Women emerged from the darkness, these beings were already there to greet them. When my brother's and I came down from the sky, they watched us arrive. We had no idea who or what they were and The Creator wasn't telling.

"Before even Adam and Eve were exiled, humans began to worship these beings. As time went on, they stopped and the beings grew lonely. They learned of how humans feared death and how deep their need to know what comes after is, how they missed those who'd left life behind and wished to speak with them. These beings soon learned to dissimulate and act, as it were, the part. Be very careful of these creatures because they have a hunger not even I can measure and are dangerous when the source of their nourishment is challenged.

There are no ghosts, there are only things like those "little girls" I refuse to be left alone with that you were so adept in recruiting..."
