Hey good news, lads. I ended up having to rewrite that scene anyway for continuity.

Writing is so fucking stupid. I had a scene pop into my head and now I’ve spent the last year and 100k words creating the necessary contextual plot/character depth to earn the emotion in that scene. Ridiculous. Absurd. Why.

I was working on a crochet tapestry project inspired by Jenny Holzer’s artwork. However, I decided to unravel this and try to knit the tapestry instead to improve the shape of the lettering. So far the letters are much more legible!

Working with a friend this week to hash out a podcast. The idea is that I'll discuss notable films noir like Double Indemnity and The Big Sleep in company with the novels or short stories they're based on, exploring what could and couldn't be brought over from page to screen given the vagaries of Hollywood and the limitations imposed by the Hays Code. I realize that podcasts are a dime a dozen and the world probably doesn't need another one, but I do think it would be fun.

(The only caveat is that, while I'm very much a film buff, I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to the technical aspects of cinema studies. But if the past few years have taught us anything, it's that ignorance is no bar to hosting a successful podcast.)

I've got 80cm and I need 120cm - which seems like a lot left to do but I hardly work on it because getting it set up was a chore.

However, we recently got one of those lift-top coffee tables, and it is perfect!

My pillow fits on it perfectly and it's the right height. Much easier to put out of the way too.

The wool is a handspun from Manos del Uruguay a non profit cooperative and it’s been really fun to knit!

I was today years old when I realized I could enter photos of text into google translate instead of typing individual words!!!

I was very much in need of something to occupy my mind, so I'm working on a historical novel about entertainers in the late Roman Empire. It's a fascinating topic -- the challenge, as ever, is to find the point at which to stop researching and actually write the blasted thing.

Why haven’t there been any new art the last couple days? Well I got an answer for that and its art block happened! But fear not! It went away and a new picture for a location in the realms is underway! Here’s the progress of it being in sketch! Eventually it will be in digital but we’ll keep you guys updated on how it goes!

Introducing Maz Games!!!

Inspired by various things such as DnD and other (tt)rpgs, video games, anime, various videos by “Magic the Noah” on youtube, and more!

“Maz Games” have a set of base game rules that are used for several individual games. This is much like how DnD has different campaigns and/or oneshots, but they all use the same base rule set.

Unlike DnD, Maz Games are light on rules, and the rules are inherently, as intended by the creator, loose and flexible. If it will make the game more fun to disregard or change a rule in one specific instance, that’s what you do! Like DnD, there is a Host/Game Master, who plans the game(s) and has the final word. Then there are players, who explore, or even explode, their way through the game. (Fireball!!!)

Most Games will have less plot, story, and character interaction style roleplay than what you might expect from DnD. in this it is a bit more like board games, or some rpg video games.

My current plan is for individual games to take no more than two hours. There may be stories that take multiple sessions, but currently I'm focusing on things that should be able to be completed in one sitting.

Maz games are intended to be at least somewhat chaotic, with the often variable rules, and rolls being made to decide the outcome and intensity of said outcome in many cases. Asking “can I do/try this?” is encouraged. The main goal of Maz Games is for everyone participating to have fun!

Wanted to share some of my own writing from my current project, which I'm currently naming the things beyond the isle, (which will most definitely end up changing!)

She rounded the corner, entering a small, dimly lit lane, no rats left to meet her feet. The alleys of the lower quarter were a tapestry of flagstone pathways and black, hollow streetlights, incandescent light no longer shining from the apex of their hoods. Lucille's mother used to tell her stories of the creatures that once lived within the lamps, tiny things with a peculiar affinity to steal light, rather than create it themselves. Yet somehow, they always ended up, trapped within their own little watchtower, guiding the drunken home. She smiled at this fact, despite the dark that met her senses instead.
