I’m unable to get a job to earn money because my mom will not let me get one. why? I don’t know. but if I don’t have money, I can’t move out like I plan to.

my plan is to gain enough money to hold me over until I’m legally able to move in with either my dad or a friend of mine, and the. from there I can get a job and be financially okay. but the problem is that I have a good few years before I can do that. so I need to have money in my savings and I need to be making it consistently. I have friends who are helping me out, but there’s only so much they can do, and I feel bad enough accepting their help in general.

Mouse's Commission Guide for Artists!

I've had a few folks come to me for advice about commissions, so I thought I'd make an informational post! I'm always excited to see more people offer agere commissions. Here's some frequently asked questions:

Do people buy your commissions?

Yes! I typically get a few commissions a month, on average anywhere between 0 and 8. The market ebbs and flows for me - I'll have a few months with no inquiries, then a bunch at once. But for me, being a more established creator in the space, I do regularly get commissioned.

What is your most popular price/option?

Full color is most popular, despite being the highest price. I'm not sure why, I guess people just decide they might as well go for the full package! My prices, for reference:

My most common type of commission is two character full colors. Fairly often its one character, I rarely get more than two characters.

How do you price your work?

This is tough because it's a personal process. The golden rule is: price according to how much work you put in. The reason my commissions have gone up in price is because my art has taken more time and effort. I am a full time student also - so factor in the value of your free time. Basically, if you're dreading doing the commission, you might need to raise your price. The work should feel worth it. If you really have no idea where to start, I recommend $15 USD per hour. Assess your work and decide how long on average it takes you to do each type of piece, and go from there.

What options should I offer?

Up to you! I chose my three options based on what I like to do. I wanted an affordable option, so I offer chibis. One step up would be sketches, then full color. Do not offer things you don't like doing, or that feel redundant- that's why I don't offer busts or colored sketches. But it's up to every individual. I recommend having three tiers, something affordable ($15 or less), "the works" (as much as you feel is appropriate for a complete piece) and something in between.

How should I start taking commissions?

Make a price sheet (like the one in this post) and post it to your most prominent social media. Make sure your messages are open, or make a Google form (I don't do this but it's an option). Reblog it whenever you feel is appropriate! I wait a few days between reblogs, typically. Tag your post!! Any relevant tag. That will help people find it.

What do I do if no one commissions me?

That's up to you. Reblogging and tagging are really my biggest tips, but if those aren't working, you could consider lowering your prices for a period of time. When I need commissions urgently, I do a sale.

How do I get payment?

To get payment you typically have to have access to a payment app. The most popular ones are:

Paypal

Venmo

Cashapp

At least in the US. If you are under 18 and the app says you must be 18+ to make an account, follow that rule! Your parent or a trusted adult can make an account for you to use, but they are in charge of it at the end of the day. These payment apps don't fool around, you could get banned for lying about your age. Alternative forms of payment:

Amazon wishlist (must be comfortable with people seeing your name and address)

Giftable online purchases (like discord nitro, steam games)

I do not recommend gift cards, those look shady.

He's just standing there, babbling way too much personal information about his divorce and how he completely fucked things up with your friend so badly his career is tanking and how he's not even handling holiday custody arrangements well and arguing with Complete Sincerity that he needs to be That Divorced Dad that brings home a trophy and a pile of presents every custody weekend to be worth loving and he's about half a second away from bawling his eyes out or airing all of your buddy's dirty laundry in the most personal ways imaginable and you don't want that to be at all your fault so it's hitting you, with a dawning horror, that as 'The Best Friend Whose Approval You Want Who Is Here Right Now Since Your Therapist Has Clearly Failed You And Who Has A Functional Marriage And Tries To Be A Good Dad When I Fell Into It A Couple Years Ago Unexpectedly' you are, in fact, in a way you never wanted to be: The Guy.

So if you're really doing this? Here? Not going backstage? (Fuck Swerve is in Guerilla isn't he you passed him.) Let's fucking go. (Do try and remember the more constructive points you had while you were helping your son put his wellies on at 7 a.m. when your buddy's manager calls you asking if he's heard from you and you both end up sighing while you know you two backslid again).

Let's talk about Trust. And Being Enough for someone. About letting yourself make the effort of trying and the mortifying ordeal of being known and the vulnerability that comes with loving another person and knowing that lets them hurt you. And hurting someone when they're showing that vulnerability to you first to protect yourself because you're too scared then doing it again when you're given more chances then complaining you don't like who you've become. And how yeah, your son probably does look at you differently on Christmas Morning when you're staring out the window and refreshing your DMs on a social media app you only joined 'to post gardening pics', waiting for someone 'you know is never going to come back' and less than 10 hours away from passing out face down in the eggnog to drown the pain. You did that and you can't take it back. You can only move forward. (But hey, at least your kid had a wish list this year.)

I'm fascinated by dominant, flirtatious, sexually ravenous alpha Brucie Wayne who moonlights as a stoic, covered in scent blockers thus unclear second gender, Batman. Meanwhile omega Clark, due to being Kryptonian, is much less ruled by his second gender. That is, until he meets Mr. Wayne. This fic has so much lust and tension between the two. Does accidental heat triggering counts as a soulmate mark? I'm gonna count it like that. ship-to-ship combat by pomeloquat [M, 62,737 word count, WIP, 12/13] OK, so, for me personally, this is the ultimate identity p*rn fic across all fandoms I've read so far. This fic has one of the highest amount of secret identity pairs in superbat fics. There's the usual pining silently Batman/Superman, then there's Clark dating Bruce, Superman saving Bruce Wayne from peril, Clark Kent chatting with Batman. And the cherry on top is Clark writing Bruceman fanfic which is basically a RPF of his two friends, Batman and Bruce Wayne. Which leads to an internet friendship with a fellow fan, who is, you guessed, Bruce. This fic has great reflections on fandom and shipping culture. But the very beating heart of this fic is about how easy it is to lose something you wished to have but were afraid to ask for. The fic, at 12/13, is technically a WIP, but the main reveal is already done, and it is glorious. ETA - THIS IS NOT A DRILL, the fic is finished and the last chapter is a super meta cherry on a top of delicious, layered superhero identity and fandom shenanigans parfait. 13 chapters, 76,7k word count.

10 Things Every Brucie Fan Needs in Their Life by pomeloquat [T, 8,956 word count, WIP, 5/10] The main premise of this fic is hilarious and yet so, so right. Bruce Wayne is promoting himself as a nation's boyfriend instead of a playboy, and is making bank out of his wholesome, PG rated merchandise. The chapters of this fic tell continuous story but they also can be read as separate vignettes, so there's really no cliffhanger. This fic is so soft and fluffy, it will heal your soul. Also, Superman has celebrity crush on Bruce Wayne. Batman is amused.
