Rebrand Trailer Screenplay Pitch

Throwing my proverbial prophecy-hat into the ring here in the buildup to the imminent rebrand! Considering how much fun they had with the first one, it seems pretty likely that we might get a trailer similar to the absolute cinema that was the gaming channel's revival announcement. With that in mind, i had my own stupid ideas for what this might look like, so i put a little screenplay together. Here’s what i’m squinking:

Something something. Parasocial subversion of expectations-themed "wedding", plus the wedding itself looking like it was plonked on top of the funeral set to represent parting with the past and embracing something new. There's symbolism here I swear

Every time I see something romantic in media I think: "pfft please, that's not realistic. People don't actually feel/think/do those things in real life!"

Then I remember Dan and Phil.

Okay, this has probably been done a million times already but hear me out: Ive got an idea. For a story.

What if, one day, Dan wakes up, with an unusual headache. He gets up, but he is in a home he doesn't recognize. It's all his stuff, it all seems familiar but it seems wrong. First and foremost, because Phil isn't there.

He checks his phone, but he doesnt recognize most of the contacts. The names in his calendar dont ring anything.

He takes a google search, just, you know to make sure Dan and Phil exist? But he only finds the channel AmazingPhil, a kind of big youtuber with a million subscribers doing fun sketches every now and then.

The only search result for Dan Howell is the lawyer Daniel Howell who deals with financial sueings.

And Dan finds out, over the next hours, that in this universe he and Phil never met. He never had the guts to reach out and even tho he loved Phil's content they never talked. And now, coming from a world where they did, where Phil is his missing half, his partner in crime, his immortal turtle, he does everything to go back there and to find Phil in every timeline.

i just woke up with a thought. what if phan isn't real and they really are just best friends? can you imagine the day they separate and start their own families with a wife and kids? can you imagine phil, with a wife and a little daughter, watching dan playing with his daughter with a fond smile on his face because of how much he loves his kid and his best friend (in a platonic way)? can you imagine their wives complaining about the fact that it seems like they care more about spending time together and talking to each other than spending time with their actual wives, but not in a fighting kind of way, and more like a normal banter way because it's obviously not a big deal and they are totally strictly platonic best friends because they're straight? can you imagine dan and phil feeling actually offended by that because they just love spending time together and how dare you question their closeness and almost psychic connection, how dare you question their bond that is stronger than any other feeling in existence and that no one else in the world will ever understand because no one has ever felt like this before (totally platonic obviously)? can you imagine dan and phil, one day, while having a gaming session, as they do every saturday, just looking at each other and realising that it was so much better living together, having long breakfasts watching tv everyday and just spending almost every second of their life just existing in the same space, but obviously in a totally straight and platonic way because every straight man feels like this about their friends, every straight man would rather live with his straight man best friend than living with his actual wife and the pull they feel towards each other at that moment is just a natural and normal straight feeling?
